Preferred Solution: Stop code 0x00000005'

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

is this XP?
If it is XP then do this.

If not say so, it is a completly different fix/ problem in other OSs.

I'll attempt to make a very long story short:

Major virus infection on computer resulted in fdisk and reformat. I used Win 98SE to fdisk and reformat, as I couldn't for the life of me find a format on the Dell Operating reinstallation CD. (could be first mistake)

Used Win 98 SE startup diskette to start system w/CD rom support.

Navigated to D: Drive which containe the XP OS reinstallation. Navigated to I386 folder and typed WINNT to begin reinstalling files.

Start WIn XP setup and began copying files to HD.

Screen shows: The MS-DOS based portion of setup is complete. Setup will now restart you computer. After your computer restarts, WIN XP Setup will continue. Remove floppy, etc.

Computer restarts - did inspection of system, shows Win XP Setup, loading files (drivers, controllers, etc.)

Starting windows - Welcom to Setup:
1. Setup - press enter
2. Repair (using Repair Console)
3. Quite - F3

Pressed enter

Next message:

Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer. This may involve running a mfg supplied diagnostics or setup program.

Setup cannot continue Press F3

System then attempts reboot, attempts installation again by booting from HD. Then error message:

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light on why I am getting the following such errors when running a robocopy batch file (as administrator) which cause the backup script to stall (- albeit temporarily):

Quote:
2013/07/30 21:10:43 ERROR 5 (0x00000005) Copying File C:\Users\Tim\My Documents\Harey 8-128.jpg

Access is denied.

I am using the following backup command:

Code:
robocopy "%srcPath%\My Documents" "%dstPath%\My Documents" /b /v /ts /fp /bytes /tee /e /dcopy:t /copy:dt /a-:sh /xf desktop.* /np /log+:%logPath%\mwk1log.txt
I realise that if I limit the retries and wait time from the defaults the stall time will be shortened and the file(s) skipped. However, that does not resolve the issue why robocopy is having a problem copying the file(s).

I have found that if the erroring files are moved from the source location to the desktop, the following errors arethen recorded in the log:

Hi,

I have seen instances of a bug with the dcopy:t switch - try the script without that switch. You could also try the COPY:DATSOU switch, although I'm unclear if that copies the folder time stamps too.

Code:
robocopy "%srcPath%\My Documents" "%dstPath%\My Documents" /b /v /ts /fp /bytes /tee /e /copy:dt /a-:sh /xf desktop.* /np /log+:%logPath%\mwk1log.txt

I'm trying to robocopy a large folder from the command line (run as Administrator) and on certain files I get an error 5 "Access Denied." Looking at the files' security reveals that the only user with access is a garbled, nonsensical user name as seen here:

I tried using the takeown command to take ownership from the command line but this had no effect. I tried deleting this user but it tells me that the permissions are inherited (even though the folder in which the file exists does not have this garbled user) Is there another command I can use to fix this? I have several hundred files in this folder with the same problem.

Answer:Robocopy ERROR 5 (0x00000005) and Corrupted User Permissions

I figured out the solution. I ran these commands on the directories:

Code:
takeown.exe /F * /A /R /D Y
icacls.exe * /grant Everyone:(F) /grant Guests:(F) /grant Users:(F) /T /C /Q

Question: Stop Code

I have been to Microsft's website and they know nothing of this particular stop code:

stop: 0x0000007e (0xc0000005, 0xf83651c7, 0xf8aebc58, 0xf8aeb954)

Additioinally, I get an associated filename Blwc66.sys. This is a file that no one in the world seems to know exists. Usually when I type in a filename on Google, I can get something about the file. This one is the only search I've ever typed and got absolutely nothing.

This stop code happens in the middle of the day after the computer has been on for a while. Recent upgrades/updates have not fixed the problem and nothing has been added to the system since it was first set up. The computer is running XP Pro SP2 and is part of a Novell network. It is not the client because the client was fine before the BSOD started and has been upgraded and the BSOD still happens.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Question: XP Stop Code 7B

I have a PC that is getting an ZP stop code 7B (second node is 0x0C0000034). I do not get the indication that it is an inaccessible boot device.

This happens at XP startup (safe and normal modes). It also happens when windows tries to start via the XP CD. So I cannot get to repair.

All suggestions i have found indicates that I can at least repair, which I cannot. Even tried a DOS application that boots via CD and it fails as well.

Is this a wipe and reload?

Answer:XP Stop Code 7B

There are a few likely possibilities.

One is a memory error. This can be tested using MemTest86.
http://majorgeeks.com/MemTest_d350.html

Another is a BIOS error, corruption. This can be cleared by following the instructions in your motherboard manual.

A third possibility is a USB error. Try unplugging all the USB devices or hubs plugged into the computer's USB port and boot it again.

So, a friend of mine just started building his new PC. I've been helping him every so often over the past 2 days with issues he has come across, as this is his first time. After about an hour of troubleshooting, I'm out of ideas as to what the issue/solution could be.

Steps taken so far:
- Everything is plugged in and connected correctly.
- HDD confirmed to work in 2 other PCs.
- Alternative SATA ports tested - same result
- Boot order is correctly booting from HDD
- Safe mode/Last known configuration result in same stop code.
- Start up repair makes the screen briefly go black, and then reloads the menu.
- No known viruses on HDD.
- BIOS was updated, and reverted, both resulting in the same stop code.
- CMOS cleared.

Partlist:
AMD FX 6300
Asus m5A97 R2.0
Ripjaws X 8GB DDR3 1600
WD Caviar Black 1TB - (old HDD)
R9 270x reference (I know)
Corsair CX 600W

As a side note, he has a USB drive and a fresh SSD, but no windows installation/repair disk.

Please upload your minidumps located in c:\windows\minidumps. You may have to use a hdd enclosure to access the files. Or try using "Last Known Good Configuration": After the bios logo disappears, press the "f8" button until this screen appears...

BSOD's everyday either in Chrome or Rise of the Tomb Raider. Not sure what part is causing the problem.

Removing the 780 Ti GFX card still repro's the problem. Ran Windows 10 memory tester once, no problems.

Hey guys, I've fiddled with my computer for almost two weeks now and I really am at a stand still with my BSOD errors. Basically, here's the rundown:

I've been using Windows 7 Beta: RC version since it came out, and it's been great. However, I found that my games started to crash frequently and I started getting blue screens with various errors. I first thought it was a driver compatability issue, and I reinstalled my drivers to no avail. I then decided to go back to XP. However, I can't even install XP without it bluescreening with a PAGE_FAULT error. I get to the setup menu where it asks what drive I want to install it on, and it sees NO drives and then BSOD. I was able to install Vista Ultimate but it still frequently dies from BSOD, mainly from the stop code 124.

BCCode: 124
BCP1: 00000000
BCP2: 847B1C00
BCP3: 00000000
BCP4: 00000000

I suspected faulty RAM, so I ran memtest86 and Windows Memory Diagnostic utility and it found that there was hardware issues, I thought I found the problem so I replaced my RAM today. However, despite those tests coming back flawless now, I still get the errors. I ran a chkdsk /r on both of my hard drives and it came back clean. I'm hoping some genius that can read my minidumps will understand what the issue is. I can't afford to lose a computer!

I attached my mini-dumps in hopes that someone can help me with the issue. I suspected it might be a BIOS issue at first, but I don't really know if that's the p... Read more

Did you try using a system restore point to restore to a time before the problem started?

Access System Restore Through the Windows System Recovery Options:You can access System Restore through the Windows 7 System Recovery Options. To do so,Press F8 every second or every half second when your system first turns on or restarts. Some BIOS systems may not recognize the F8 being pressed unless it is pressed very rapidly. Others require the F8 key to be pressed with a longer interval in between. You may have to try different methods of pressing F8 after the Power On Self Test (POST) screen in order to reach the Advanced Boot Options screen. For reference: the POST screen generally has the name of your motherboard (ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, etc.) or the name of your system's manufacturer (HP, DELL, Toshiba, etc.) as an image/logo or in text as it proceeds through the test, and it appears just prior to seeing the Windows logo for the Windows loading process.

NOTE: If you are unable to reach the Advanced Boot Options screen, proceed to the Windows 7 System Repair Disc section.

Once you have the Advanced Boot Options available, choose Repair Your Computer.

Select your language and login to your administrative user.

Use System Restore to revert to a time prior to when the problem started.
NOTE: At step 2. you can choose to see older restore points.

Access System Restore from a Windows 7 System Repair Disc:You may also create a Windows 7 Repair Disc to reach the Windows 7... Read more

HiI can no longer boot my T61p. The bluescreen states that"The cryptographic subsystem failed a mandatory algorithm self-test during bootstrap." I have tried to put my disk into an identical T61p, but the error remains. The system cannot boot at all, not even in safe mode. In safe mode, the last file displayed is the crcdisk.sys. the second last file displayed is the CLASSPNP.sys. If I rename the crcdisk.sys file to _old.... the last file shown in safe mode is CLASSPNP.sys. I do not know what driver tries to load after that. I have also tried to copy all driver files from another computer, but that does not fix the error. Before reinstalling (**bleep**, that is gonna take a while...) it would be nice to see if anyone here has a solution.Note: I have repaired the system using Vista repair, but Vista could not repair the system (found nothing to repair..). /Jonas

some more depressing info. I gave up, and switched disks again. Well, I restarted his computer, sweating, and chkdsk took care of some issues and finally I reached the Vista logon screen. Logged in, opened the Start meny...AND there was the bluescreen again.HOW THE F-K did this happen? Ok, it is not the same stopcode, but does that really matter? Something went terribly wrong here, and the only thing I did was to try my disk in his computer for a couple of hours. I even unplugged the power AND the battery before changing disks.Must leave now...will have to hide from the boss for a cople of weeks.../Jonas

Hmmm...this is a first for me. Usually a tracing code error will cause a BSOD. Does it exhibit the same problem when in safe mode?

Question: BSOD Stop Code F4

Hi , I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on a Dell Inspiron 14z Ultrabook. My Windows has been crashing periodically since I purchased the laptop several months ago. I have contacted Dell for technical support and everything they have recommended (factory reset, Windows re-install, updating drivers) has failed to rectify the issue.

In the past I would receive STOP code 0x0000009F, but I have not received this error in recent weeks. Last week my system crashed with the following message:

Atheros PCIE ethernet controller error: "Check cable connection"
Intel PXE MOF: Exiting INTEL PXE ROM
No bootable device - insert book disk and press any key

Based on what research I have done with this message, it may indicate hard drive failure.

The most recent crash occurred last night. The OS suddenly failed - I could not open any programs or task manager, and explorer.exe would not respond. Then I saw a blue screen with the STOP code 0x000000F4. It generated a kernel-mode memory dump which I have attached.

I would greatly appreciate if anyone would take some of their free time to analyze the crash dump so I can solve this headache. Thank you!

I am getting the blue screen of death with 7E error code. It gives me the standard message at top. This is the ONLY information listed where it says TECHNICAL INFORMATION:

*** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x8A98AAB3, 0xBA513B98, 0xBA513894)

I've tried system restore with no success. I have added no hardware or software recently. This started unexpectantly yesterday. The night before I went to a website and it was not a trusted website and I "x'd" out of it. The next day it does this.

I've read to go to website and download upgraded drivers, but I cannot get onto the internet through safe mode.

Any tips or information is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Question: BSOD Stop Code 1E

After trying to update my GPU driver (AMD Radeon HD 6800 series), I continuously received the BSOD at random moments, as well as what seemed to be adware of replaying commercials in the background and no process to identify/end it. After unsuccessfully removing the adware from running programs like Malwarebytes and Combofix, I decided to completely clear my computer. So, in an effort to start from scratch, I reinstalled Windows 7. However, I am still receiving the BSOD stop code error 1E. While it seems the adware has disappeared, the BSOD is reoccurring. Please let me know what my next step of action should be. Thanks.

Answer:stop code: 0x0000008E

Brand and model of computer or motherboard, OS, age, other components.
Can be a hardware failure, video graphics failure, video driver, memory, hard drive, an infestation, or the result of tweaking your system... as that code reported is generally a generic report on a memory dump...
It depends on what else is written in the error message, along with that first code. For instance if you change the Hardware Acceleration setting in the Display tool in Control Panel from None to Full, you may receive the following Stop error message in Win32k.sys: STOP: 0x0000008E (c0000005, bf875fc3, f07bcd48, 00000000) followed by KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

So next time it happens, write down everything. Windows posts it all because all of it can be important.

Update Flash, Java and install the latest video driver. If it persists, download the ISO image for memtest and burn it to a CD using IMGBurn and boot off of the newly created CD and run the tests with one stick of RAM in at a time for at least 7 passes.

As far as i see now it is your Razer Overlay support driver that is causing the problem. Uninstall or find a working version for that driver or you'll have problem with Razer corrupting your system. Note that Driver Verifier did find some fatal errors. Thats what this BSOD is all about when Driver Verifier found some fatal errors.

Cannot see a fault with your configuration.
Have you attempted a full clean re-install?
Checked the drivers to the point of going back to a previous version?
Removed one memory module to test the other, then reverse so that both modules are tested.
The fact that you can start up in SAFE MODE leads me to suspect your video graphics card as the likely suspect. Do you have access to another video card to test?
You don't mention the cpu and heatsink. Any chance there is a fit error? Bent pin. Too much or too little thermal paste?

Question: Stop code 0x7B

I decided today that I was going to reformat. I'm currently running Windows Vista, but I decided I wanted to go back to Windows XP. I booted off the CD and then got this blue screen. I tried multiple times to boot off the CD and the same thing happened every time. I am currently scanning for viruses, but if anyone has some advice that would be awesome.

Answer:Stop code 0x7B

I would use UBCD and wipe the partition you want to install XP on, then try XP setup again.

You would use one of the softwares in the "Hard Disk Wiping Tools" section.

this is usually a Memory error. Download Memtest and burn the ISO image using IMGburn. Remove all but one of your RAM sticks if you have more then one, and boot off of the new CD you made. Test each RAM stick separately with a few passes.

Hi all,

so i left my custom built PC on at home and returned an hour later to find it in a boot up loop with the stop code of 0x000000F4 when booting in any mode (safe system restore and so on).

after searching the internet i have tried checking that all hardware cables are correctly inserted and then swapped in and out the memory and CMOS battery so can anyone advise anything else i can try before re installing windows

Also even though I built it, it has worked for a year without problems and i can't think of any new software or hardware that might have effected it.

Good afternoon everyone.

I've tried looking for ways in which to solve this problem, but unfortunately, I need a little more help. I have a Dell Inspiron laptop which is unable to load windows. I've tried running it in safe mode, but it gives me the same stop message (0x00000024) as when trying to run the computer normally. I do not have a Windows XP installation CD, as the computer came with XP installed. A driver CD did come with the computer, which has the Dell logo on it. Windows XP has service pack 2 installed.

I was able to run a few Dell diagnostic tests, but as of yet, they haven't made any kind of headway. I have tried running Microsoft Windows Recover Console, but it says that NTLDR is compressed, and then to press ctrl+alt+del to restart.

I am a student, and have a few important files on this computer that I do not want to lose. I have hard copies of all of my software currently on the computer, except Windows XP. I am unfamiliar with dos prompts, so if I need to get into dos to try and do anything, I will need a lot of help. Thank you in advance.

Answer:Stop code 0x00000024

you say you have tried running "Microsoft Windows Recover Console" - do you mean you have recovery console installed on your Inspiron? With the error message you are getting I think you would need to run chkdsk /r from the recovery console so if what you have allows you to get to the command prompt have a go. This error message seems to occur with hard disk problems, and I note that you have important docs on the computer that are not backed up. Would you be able to remove the hard drive, place it in an external caddy and see if you can retrieve your data files, before running any test on the hard drive?

More information on your computer would be helpful. I am not familier with that website, so I cannot advise you on its use.

When I have a bluescreen crash I am trying to troubleshoot, I use an application called WhoCrashed that gives some good data on what drivers, etc. are causing the issue:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/whocrashed_free_home_edition.html

If you are still able to log into the computer, Install the program, make sure your computer is set to generate minidump files, and the next time you crash access the program and see what it says. This is a good resource.

You can also check this Microsoft Support document and see if the hotfix available there applies to your computer. It states it only works for:

"0x000000C4" Stop error after you restart a Windows 7-based, Windows 8-based, Windows Server 2008 R2-based or Windows Server 2012-based computer that has the Driver Verifier tool enabled

I didn't see where you listed what operating system you are using.

I'm working on an HP 530 and when I boot up, it blue screens with a stop code.

The code is 0x0000007B (0xF7A0E528, 0xC0000034, 0x0...0, 0x0...0)

So far, I have attempted F8 w/o success, tested and swapped the RAM, and run checks on the HDD. G-Parted can see and partition the HDD, but Windows Repair disk can't see the HDD. I have re-imaged this unit and it completed successfully, but when I rebooted, it BSOD'd again. There is nothing in the BIOS to change it to IDE from SATA and the self-test is reporting no errors. I've researched this in other posts as well as with microsoft and I'm getting nowhere.

Here are the specs:
CPU: Intel Celeron 520 @ 1.6 GHz
RAM: 1 GB
Win XP Pro SP2
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get past this?

Thanks in advance!

Question: 0x7B stop code

Ok, I have 2 computers, this is my old one(this is relevant). My other computer(newer one) is on the floor next to me, "dead". It got a serious virus earlier this month, bogged the system down more and more each day so I did a defrag, rebooted and when it got to windows it rebooted again(this continued forever in an endless loop). I put my windows disk in to just reformat the damned thing, I was sick of this virus. When the disk gets past all of it's scanning of the system(just about the time it would ask me if I wanted to clear the drives) I get the blue screen "Stop: 0x0000007B (blah, blah, blah, blah)". Check for viruses, run chkdsk /f blah blah. I went out and bought a new hard drive, and I get the same error so I tried the discs they came with, and it gave me another error, cannot detect CDROM drive blah. This was strange, because it read my XP disc. I bought a floppy drive, and I'm terrified of flashing, but I'm on the verge of buying a new motherboard. But I can't fathom a virus destroying a MB. I used the abit disc to make a raid driver floppy, but it tells me that the disc has to be empty, ok... format it. Ok, it isn't empty, format it, YES, disc has been formatted 100% put in a disc blah, the disc isn't empty. AGRGH. All day. I format the disc, and it tells me it isn't empty after it formats it. So, I'm hoping this floppy drive isn't bad, it's usb. I need a boot disc for it to verify that it'... Read more

Question: BSOD stop code 124

hey folks,

I'm being plagued by a BSOD error code 124 lately. its quite a complicated story of how i got it. on my last windows installation i got a BSOD error code 122 (or 121) and i decided to reinstall windows and get a new SSD in the hope it would fix some of my problems.

the new installation ran stable for about a month or so before i got the BSOD error code 124. i've tried to determine the cause, playing around with different SATA slots since i recently installed the SSD. it seemed to work for a few days, but i just got the BSOD again.. twice in a row actually. it appears to be happening more often when gaming and under stress. i should note i have been running a stable overclock on my processor for about 3 years now, i'd hate it to be a damaged processor. enother BSOD analyzer told me it was due to an outdated intel chipset driver so i updated it, apparently this is not the case.

i will include the zip file as requested but i wasnt able to get the system health report, might have to do with the fact i can only run in safe mode.

i'm tired now and this is the least i can worry about. i won't have money for new CPUs or MOBOs soon.

FYI...
Stop 0x124 is a hardware error
If you are overclocking try resetting your processor to standard settings and see if that helps.
If you continue to get BSOD here are some more things you may want to consider.
This is usually heat related, defective hardware, memory or even processor though it is"possible" that it is driver related (rare).

Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try
Synopsis:
A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.
Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.

Generic "Stop 0x124" Troubleshooting Strategy:

1) Ensure that none of the hardware components are overclocked. Hardware that is driven beyond its design specifications - by overclocking - can malfunction in unpredictable ways.

2) Ensure that the machine is adequately cooled.
If there is any doubt, open up the side of the PC case (be mindful of any relevant warranty conditions!) and point a mains fan squarely at the motherboard. That will rule out most (lack of) cooling issues.

3) Update all hardware-related drivers: video, sound, RAID (if any), NIC... anything that interacts with a piece of hardware.
It is good practice to run the latest drivers anyway.

4) Update the motherboard BIOS according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Can Anyone help me with this? Initially I kept getting an error that read as follows.

The system process "c:\windows\system32\services.exe terminated unexpectedly with the status code 1073741819" then the computer would reboot.

I have run spyware scans, virus scans and adware scans and removed all the spyware and adware tha was found. There was nothing found using Microsoft Malware remover Tool. I attempted to repair the XP install and that is when the blue screen with the stop code named in the title appeared when I rebooted. Is or has anyone else had and resolved this issue? If so please let me know how.

Here are the minidump files.

Question: BSOD Stop code 124

Hi guys, I encountered a BSOD while just browsing the internet, I managed to get the STOP code of 124 though before it cleared. I HAVE been having some issues with my HDD not maintaining constant speeds during file transfers, so maybe its a HDD problem?

System specs are underneath.

Answer:BSOD Stop code 124

Yes you have the,

Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try
Though the one and only minidump you upload points also the avg.

So, before you try anything else, remove avg from your system.

Download, install and use Microsoft Security Essentials with windows firewall and see if that helps.

Also if you are overclocking anything stop and set everything back to default settings..

Answer:BSoD Stop code

Hello and Welcome to TSF.

It could be faulty ram checkout the link below, and run memtest. If it comes back with any errors your ram is faulty. Stop the test, shut the system down, remove all but one stick and run the test again. Do this until all stcks have been tested.

In the middle of pretty normal computer usage my computer started stuttering and having moments of freezing and unfreezing. This culminated in the first BSOD for the kernel security check failure.
Working through some of the posts on this and other forums I checked over all my hardware and connections, then ran the system file checker, chkdisk, and driver verifier manager, in that order, turning up no issues.
Then on the reboot after that I BSOD'ed with the DRIVER_VERIFIER_IOMANAGER_VIOLATION stop code, and continue to do so on every boot not into safe mode, soon after putting in my password to log in.
I went into my safe mode command line and reset my driver verifier but it continues to BSOD right as I'm putting in my password, with the same IOMANAGER VIOLATION message and the HIDCLASS.SYS listed as what failed.
I have the .dmp files from the minidump folder located on my google drive but I can't post url's yet apparently?
so please don't put;
/open?id=0B9rqKXbQA22ldGxDNkhWb1JlZkE
after https drive google com
with the appropriate punctuation...
but I don't personally know enough to recognize the cause of the errors.
Thanks in advance to anyone able to help me with this.
V/R,
Jason

Hi there! :)

When I boot up my computer gives me the BSoD, and the only thing I can remember is the error code 0x000000b3. I don't think it's a virus as I've already been on a virus forum with this and my computer's clean. My programs are all updated too.

I needed to restart my computer today as my internet randomly switched off, and when it was loading BSoD appeared, then when it restarted (again) it showed up again, and again.

When the error panel appeared this is what it said:

I don't know where to begin. Laptop was working fine again for last week or so after last BSOD issue that Axe0 helpled me with. I re-installed the WAN Wireless driver & Intel Chipset drivers that i was instructed to do and seemed to be working fine.

Just before, i woke laptop from sleep to find my internet icon on bottom right of taskbar had showed a red x with no connections available. I then tried to restart laptop, it was stuck with restarting and white circles just loading for ages then eventually the BSOD with the Stop Code: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE appeared. I rebooted, looked in Device Manager & Network Adaptors it showed 8 new entries called "WAN miniport...." I then rebooted again, looked in device manager again & saw that those entries had dissappeared and now was left with the normal 2 network entries.

I then came in here to start this thread, then while in this thread ANOTHER BSOD happened, this time with the Stop Code: SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION and next to "What failed:" showed that again igdkmd64.sys.

I don't know what to do. I have had nothing but problems with this laptop and Windows 10. I did a complete, clean re-install of Windows 10 a few months ago and it seemed to be helping (I had major BSOD before that and various other problems) but now these multiple, different BSODS have started happening again. I'm at a total loss and feel helpless.

Would appreciate some help again. Sorry for the trouble. I uploaded th... Read more

Last night I went to turn on my computer and got a BSOD and stop code.....

Stop: 0x0000007e (0xc000001d, 0x80900512, 0xf78d66c4, 0xf78d63c4)

It happens right when it starts loading drivers from /system32/system, so it never gets close to actually booting up and there's no way to get into safe mode to debug anything. The only thing I can actually boot into is the BIOS. I grabbed my XP Pro disk and tried to boot from it so I could do a repair. It doesn't go far enough into the CD bootup to get to the repair option before hitting the BSOD and giving that stop code.

I'm guessing it's a bad memory module or motherboard problem. I can probably check for a bad RAM stick by testing my system with only 1 stick in at a time, but then what about the motherboard... or maybe it's a video card problem?

Anyone got any ideas on a specific culprit for this problem? I reset all my BIOS parameters back to default, so nothing is overclocked anymore. I'm running an Antec True Power II 550 watt PS, that's never been a problem.

I figure if it's a new motherboard or memory that I need, it may end up being time for a system upgrade.

have recently installed XP SP3 in the hope that it would fix the issuea but to no avail

System seems to be running very slowly at times and takes an age to load things like outlook2007.

One think I've also had recently is that i get the security message telling me that firewall is switched off when I've not conciously done that, restart it and then get same message days later. Running Macafee with auto updates for both it and windows?

Have run malware checks and nothing untoward found

Also seem to get a lot of error messages stating that x or y was not saved could it be a hard drive failure? Will try to run the diagnostics later and if its knackered will install a new one

that in itself will require a bit of research on how to get all my data off and onto a new one

Installed a game for my son on my Dell Optiplex GX 150, needed more space, added a 150G Maxtor External Hard Drive, game still didnt work, tech page for game (Counter Strike) said make sure windows is updated. Took Dell Disk that came with pc and when it tries to reload windows get to certain point and I get a blue screen that at the top reads Stop error code 0000221, and it stops right there. Have tried booting in safe mode, normal, and last known working configuration and nothing. What do I do now?

I have 2 Dell towers sitting and one dell laptop , dont need any more useless electronics around, and 9yr old isnt getting on my current laptop. Help PLEASE. . . . . . .

Answer:Stop error code 0000221

Hi imsmone and welcome to TSF

If I read your post correctly, you can boot into the safe mode. If this is true, do so and run chkdsk /p. Note the space between chkdsk and /p.

If that don't work, go back into the safe mode and go to msconfig. Under the start tab, uncheck all the application check boxes except for your virus protection and restart. This is a check to see if it is one of the startup applications that is giving you the problem.

If you need to do more system file repair, you will need a Windows Install disk (not the recovery CD that Dell provides with its computers. You can use anyone's install CD as long as it is the same XP version (Pro, Home, etc) that you have on the computer and has the same SP updates as your system.

Unplug all external USB devices while trying to get your boot problem fixed.

Let us know how it goes.

Best regards,
Mack1

Answer:Recent BSOD Stop Code 101

Code 101 usually points to hardware issues, especially overheating. If you are overclocking, revert to stock. Check all possible causes of overheating, including CPU heatsink for dust, CPU fan for correct rotation, and heatsink compound for correct installation, All thse things apply specially if this is a new build.

About 4 days ago, my computer was hit with a blue screen of death that had the following stop message:
*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xFFFFF88009A9928, 0xFFFFFFFFC000000D,0x0000000000000000,
0x0000000000000000)
After a ton of late night research and unsuccessful troubleshooting, I finally just removed the hard drive from my HP G7 Pavilion and extracted all valuable user files with a SATA/USB adapter. I then plugged the hard drive back into the laptop and used system recovery to bring it back to factory settings. The BSOD is finally gone now, but I was told that the stop error message above suggests defective RAM sticks. How would I conduct a MEMTEST to find out if my RAM needs to be replaced? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Answer:BSOD stop code 0x0000007B

Right here, I would run it a few times to check for errors, just go to the free download on the left.

I recently bought a 1070 card 4 months ago and installed it. A few weeks later, prior to the new installation of the GPU, windows did an update and few hours prior to that update, I got a BSoD. Afterwords, I soon kept getting random BSoD from either playing a game, doing animations, even watching videos online. Every time I try to figure out how to fix the stop code error, I keep getting a different one. I was hoping someone in the community can help me diagnose which driver is the cause to this.

Answer:BSOD has a different stop code whenever I do a task.

In all of the last 5 dumpfiles are references to memory corruption, memory mangement, hardware etc.

Start with testing your memory.
Memory Test.
Please start with diagnosing the system RAM first. You can use the free tool "Memtest86+" to stress test the RAM.

How to run "Memtest"
MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Forums
Make sure you are using the latest version 5.01 - Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

You can stop the test even if a single error is found during the test. Otherwise continue the test for 8-10 passes and post a screenshot with next reply. 8 passes is the recommended bare minimum but more passes will give better result.

If it seems you have no faulty memory, with your next reply please use the posting instruction and upload the Dm.zip.

I'm getting the blue screen with stop code c0000221 and corrupted image file url.dll. I have downloaded a good file from a working computer with Windows XP home to an external floppy disk unit. Now how do I replace the bad file on my laptop. Or is there another way to repair?

It was just recently I started getting an error on my computer which says error code 28. Those are not the exact words of the error. Specifically, this error was
"The driver for this device is not installed. Code 28".
After receiving that error, my DVD-R has not worked since. I am sure that I'm not the one at fault here. Anyways, I just need some help. Is anyone able to assist me?

Answer:What does the error code 28 means and what can I do to stop it?

If it were on my system, I'd be looking to replace the DVD drive ... DVD drives do not have 'drivers' per-say, so a faulty drive could produce this error.

check out this video

good luck!

Read more

Windows XP Home SP2 on Medion PC, 2.66GHz Pentium 4, 1.25 GB DDR, GeForce 6200 256MB. Online with ADSL using Efficient Networks SpeedStream 5667 modem.

I'm getting BSOD's with Battlefield 2 online, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, stop code 0A, WinDbg states it's code 1000000A with ntoskrnl.exe (nt+8cd35). Can someone please anaylze my minidumps or something to help find why it's doing this?

This occurs on the multiplayer map loading screen, usually a bit after the bar starts loading like 1/2 inch or so. It will occasionally run fine and I can play the game for a while before getting an in-game error of "Problem with your internet connection" (unrelated). I don't get any errors when loading and playing single player. No other programs throw this blue screen or any other major errors.

I have tried reinstalling the game, resetting swap file, updating and reinstalling all hardware and drivers I can find. Nothing seems to help. It is not bad ram, and reinstalling Windows is NOT an option.

I have attached the previous day's 4 minidumps. I have 7 more minidumps from previous days if anyone would like to see them. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Jason

I can't get my Dell E520 to boot, I get blue screen W/error code Stop:c0000218,
Cannot load HIVE(File) SystemRoot\System32\Config\SAM
Can't get PC to do anything, no Safe Mode. I can access the F2, F8, F12
Can't locate any recovery discs

Answer:Error code STOP:c0000218

On another computer download the ISO image for Seatools in my signature. Burn the image to CD using IMGBurn also in my signature. Boot off of the newly created CD in the troubled computer and run the short and long tests on the drive. If either test fails, the HDD needs to be replaced.

Hello Geeks,

I am working on a computer that, when turned on it tries to load the Windows 10 OS and then it comes up with a frowny face and gives me a Stop Code: 0x0000007B which is an INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. So I went through the basic steps going through the Troubleshoot options with no avail. I then tried to recreate the MBR through command prompt and that still didn't do it. I then try to restore old registry files through RegBack in CMD. That did not work either. I'm trying to get the data off and just reinstall the OS from a clean install. I am able to get into Safe Mode with Networking. Also I was talking to the owner and they said that the computer was bought with Windows Vista and then didn't like it and bought Windows 7 and put it on the computer the problem I saw was that the bought the 64-Bit Pro and then when the upgrade came around they Upgraded and Window 10 saw that there was 64-Bit Pro installed so it just went and installed the same. My question is on this part: Can I reinstall the 32-bit version and still maintain the digital entitlement or will I have to have them purchase a new OS?
