Preferred Solution: System idle process

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

On my friend's computer I am having this problem. Even when the computer is in use system idle process uses up 90%-100% of the CPU. This can be directly seen in the computer's overall performance. Does anybody know how to kill system idle process?

amd x2 3800+
dfi lanparty sli-dr
evga 7800gtx
2 gig (1 gig x2) of ozc RAM
2x 250gb seagates

But for some reason recently the system process and no it's no the system idle process is using as much cpu as possible like 99% and really slows everything down and I have no clue as to whats causing it so if you have any ideas of what the system process is or why its using all that cpu please let me know because this stinks that a new computer is going this slow but it doesn't stay like that all the time sometimes it uses 50 or barely anything like 1 or 0

Using Win XP, from time to time my PC fails to respond because the CPU resources are running in the 90% range by the system idle process. This typically happens right after I boot up and virtually nothing will run because the resources are being used up. What is causing this? How can I fix it? Thanks!

I am running XP Home. In "Process" tab in Windows Task Manager there is a "System Idle Process" running that shows 96 to 99 readings in the CPU field. Is this a normal reading? My PC seems to be running slower than normal.

Answer:System Idle Process

That seems a little high (low 90's is normal for me) but it would depend on what else is running.

Hello! Haven't had an issues in months. Anyways... I have a malware/adware problem I believe. I used spybot search and destory and ad-ware se personal and they didn't find anything. Adware found some tracking cookies and spybot found nothing at all. It's even weirder because microsoft anti-virus is always set to I will monitor it myself because I have symantec and normally when I do a spybot check it pulls up the microsoft anti-virus override. It unforunately, didn't do it this time. I also ran symantec anti-virus and it didn't find anything. I then was like ... well i'll try running housecall just to double check that it isn't something wrong with my computer. I ran it twice today. Once I thought I closed the window which I didn't remember doing. Another one as I went to work and when I came home my entire iexplore was closed. I think it might be related to the problem I'm having. Anyways here are some of the symptoms:

Slow Loading Process of Windows XP
Slow Loading Process of Bootup programs
Slow Application Processes

It took me 10 minutes to boot windows in which it normally takes a minute at most. Then after logging in it takes another 10 minutes before I can even do anything on the computer. Normally this process takes 30 seconds. I checked my alt, ctl, del as well to see if there were any processes running in the background and I didn't notice anything. Hi 113H.

It could be that your computer is running updates for windows to bring it up to date after reinstall. This causes my computer to freeze and respond slowly.

I think high CPU usage on system idle is normal. System idle % is just whats not being used.

I was looking in my task manager and I have 40 processes running. Out of those 40, the process with the highest use of CPU is the 'System Idle Process' which hovers around the 95-100 range. What is it, and do I need it running?

I searched google for my answer but 1) I didnt understand some of the articles explaining what it was, or 2) it didnt even really explain it.

Hi
My pc has been a teeny bit slow lately. I have Microsoft Security Essentials. I try checking the windows task manager to see what was using up memory or CPU.
I'm concerned with one of the processes I found on Windows Task Manager called "System Idle Process". What is it exactly and what does it do? Why does it use so much CPU? I haven't seen it before. I probably last checked maybe a week or two ago and it was never there until now.

It's image name is "System idle Process". It's User Name is SYSTEM. The CPU has a max of 98 and a minimum of 88 but lingers in the high 90's. The Memory (Private Working Set) is 24K. And the description says "Percentage of time the processor is idle".

Answer:system idle process 90 %

System idle process is the time your CPU is sitting idle so 90-98% is good.

Your HOSTS file contains garbage which needs to be fixed. You should open C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts with Notepad and delete everything in it following the "#" lines.

You also have a worm which you should ask the TSG malware experts to help with.

:DDoes anybody know anything more about a "System Idle Process" which appears to run when a PC is not doing anything with Windows XP?  In the task manager processes tab, this appears to be using 99% of my CPU resource and shows the user as "SYSTEM".  I am encountering significant slowing down of my system, and cannot for the life of me find anything wrong - ie no virus, malware, etc - and I think this might be the cause?

Answer:System Idle Process

Thats perfectly normal. What that is really saying is - You are using 1% of the CPU cycles and 99% are doing nothing. If your system is slowing down, something else is the cause. If you have Content Indexer running, turn it off. Also run Ad-Aware and Spybot. Spyware can eat your processor and bandwidth alive.

any ideas?

Answer:System Idle Process using 80-99 CPU?

The system idle process is what is refered to as a sentinal process. It basically gives the CPU something to do when it does not have any other processes scheduled (this allows nicer code in the scheduler, since it does not have to have special cases when there are no runable/ready processes). Also, this process can be useful from an OS cleanup point of view (looks for deadlocks, etc.)

It runs at the lowest priority, and so will get cycles when nothing else is requesting CPU attention. So if you are not doing anything, then it is perfectly normal for it to have high CPU usage

Essentially what this means is that #'s as high 99% are perfectly normal so if game playing is laggy you need to look elsewhere for the solution.I would look first at disabling startup items that you don't need to start on bootup.Having too much stuff in there can slow your system down dramatically. The only things I allow to start on bootup on my machine are my anti virus and firewall.

Also go here:http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm
and check out the service configurations, there are a lot of services that you can disable to help your system run better and faster

And I would also look into new drivers.

Hi there. I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 and I have a problem with it. The problem is that when opening a browser it takes more time than it should. It's kind of got like delay before it opens. Even switching between windows there is a delay. Basically it's slow and can't run as it should do and applications takes a long time to load. There's absolutely nothing like a virus in my laptop i've got a anti virus and spyware programs so it's nothing to do with that. I think it's to do with the System Idle Process that's making it laggy and causing that delay when opening applications.

Can anyone help me out and fix this problem?

Thanks

The key word is idle. Idle means not doing anything. So having a high Idle Process means nothing is being used.

Just curious.

Answer:system idle process

It's an idle loop the OS is running when the CPU has no other tasks to perform, ie - whenever you are not using the full capacity of your CPU.

I have been having a problem for about 2 weeks now, where my computer is permanantly at 100% CPU usage. when i check what processes are the cause of this problem, it is always System Idle Process using up 99% of the total usage! ive reinstalled all my drivers, scanned my entire pc thoroughly several times and deleted 37 viruses. The problem has not been fixed, in fact it is getting worse.
When ive been checking the forums, everyone says that System Idle Process is meant to be taking up 99% of the total CPU usage, but thats only normal when the CPU usage is hovering at 5%. Every thing is running completely slow, and i have no idea what to do! i am reluctant to format because i have over 50 gig worth of movies saved onto my E drive, And many other important things. I am unable to burn these to DvD's because it would take forever due to the CPU usage being at 100%.

Answer:System Idle Process

System idle processes should take up whatever is left from the cpu...so if you have a program using 5%, system idle processes will take 95%

It shouldn't actually slow down your computer at all...Have you checked for viruses and whatnot?

If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/ente...all_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan. If any viruses/trojans are detected, try to delete or clean them in that site. You may use Panda ActiveScan also at http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan. Otherwise, make sure your antivirus program has the latest definitions and run a full system scan.

You may also have spyware installed without your knowledge. Download and install Spybot S&D http://security.kolla.de/. Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available.

Now click Mode menu and choose 'Advanced Mode'. Next click on Immunize to your left. Click the Immunize button (green cross) on top to Immunize your computer - you should do this each time there is an update. Now go to Tools->Resident and make sure that TeaTimer is checked. What this will do is monitor any system/registry changes and will ask you for permission to change any of these settings.

Now click on the 'Spybot-S&D' option on the top left to go back to the main screen. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it... Read more

Answer:System Idle Process ???

The System Idle Process isn't a real process. For practical purposes it is simply a placeholder showing CPU time that is not being used. It cannot possibly be the cause of your problems. It is possible to have a system that freezes or becomes unresponsive while CPU usage remains low. One possibility is that the system is overheating. Be sure that all fans are operating, free of dust buildup, and external vents are not obstructed.

I noticed today in my task manager that 98% of system resources are being used my System Idle Process. I didn't notice that before, but is it normal? I only ask because my system seems to be running a tad slower than normal.

Thanks. :)

Answer:System Idle Process.

The time used by system idle is just that, time that the processor is idle. It's very good that's a high number, it should sit in the high 90's when you're doing nothing.

My System Idle Process seems to always have a high number in the CPU column. Is this bad?

I've done a bit of searching and downloaded the Processes Explorer and it said that the Hardware Interrupt was causing it... I took a screenie.

What do you think? Is this a problem? How can it be fixed?

Answer:System Idle Process using all CPU?

system Idle process is meant to be high, its when your system is well idle its not doing anything if you run another app u`ll see that cpu idle process usage go down and applied to that app.

How come this "Idle" Process is taking up 98-99 of my CPU space at some points? I wouldn't care but I think it might have something to do with the fact that my computer occassionaly starts to freeze every 30 seconds or so for a period of ~5 seconds!!!

Whats with this System Idle Process! Its NOT idle!

Answer:System Idle Process

System Idle Process has nothing to do with your PC freezing. this process just gives the CPU a loop to run when the computer is doing nothing and it takes up very little memory. it's supposed to take up the amount of CPU that is not being used so don't worry about it.

Excactly what is system idle process and why is it taking up all my CPU stuff??
Just wanna know..

Answer:System idle process???

The System Idle Process runs only when no other processes are using the CPU. Thus, when the CPU is idle, the System Idle Process is in action, executing special halt (HLT) instructions that put the CPU into a suspended mode and thereby cooling the processor. It uses up quite a bit of CPU time but very little memory.

Basically, it's reducing the amount of potential harm being done to your CPU by being switched on

I recently built a new box (2.8C, 1024 Corsair ELL, Radeon 9800Pro, XP Home) and I noticed on the task manager in Windows I have a "System Idle Process" that appears to be using like 90% of my CPU at all times, with only 20K memory usage. I can't do "End Process" on it ("not valid for this process") and I checked services.msc and ran AdAware and SpyBot without finding anything notable. Also in the "Performance" tab in Windows Task Manager, my cpu usage idle is single digits and things don't run slow at all. Should I be worried about this tiny little System Idle Process that windows is reporting with like 95 in the "CPU" column (I'm not sure if that's percent?) Thanks for any input anyone might have.

ROFL read the name of it "SYSTEM IDLE PROCESS" it shows when your cpu is not doing anything. It is not spyware or adware. Start up other programs and it will go down.

Or 98% of the system is free from running programs and applications.

My HP Pavillion became very slow suddenly. When checking processes in the task manager box, the system idle process is always running at values of 90 or more. Is this normal? I suspect this might be the problem but because it is part of the system, the computer will not allow me to shut it off. Any suggestions?

Answer:system idle process

yes that is normal figure to have when your CPU is doing nothing, mine is at 95~99% at present as all i'm doing is surfing the net with no other programs running apart from background tasks like AV, moving the mouse around quickly will change that figure as the cpu is doing something.

Have you defragged of late?

Also have you checked for Virii or Spyware? if not check this guide out READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal jsut to make sure its not a virii/spyware thats slowing your PC down.

Hi trevorveaseyThe System Idle Process at 9x% is normal - that means nothing much is happening in Windows. The program or game locking up is not normal. why has it suddenly shot up?

Answer:system idle process...

The system idle process is just the amount of "nothing" your computer is doing.
Mine is currently at 85% for instance.

That doesn`t mean to say there isn`t something slowing your PC.

Could be spyware or anti spyware or anti virus.
Get rid of Norton/Mcafee/ if you have them.
Uncheck everything in msconfig startup folder except firewall/av.

Hi, I decided to ask for advice on this subject as i handle most things on my own, but i cant solve this.

Well, for the past week the System idle process has been hogging all my CPU.

Have done the usual investigative routes, scans, safe mode scans etc.

I have used my residential products: Malwarebytes, Superanti-spyware, Eset SS5 and have tried a couple of others being Hitman pro and Kaspersky on-line virus scanner.

Since the problem started i have been trying to think of any odd installations but nothing springs to mind, to that end i have already put two different OS's on the machine and the problem still exists even in safe mode! (Puzzled at this)

I have trawled all across the net trying to find a solution but keep going round in circles.

I'm Running Win 7 x64

Anyone with any id's would be great to have your input. Thanks if at all possible in advance

Hi there,

My computer's start-up is pretty quick and no problems there. But right after, the computer sarts working, the fans power up and the whole computer seems to be processing something. When I check "Windows Task Manager" the process "System Idle Process" is using about 100% of CPU. This lasts like 5 mins and I can't do anything to stop the process. (if it helps, there is no signs of internet usage during this period). As far as I found out, it's not related to how the computer was shut down. Even after a safe shutdown, this process keeps my laptop busy for at least 5 mins. I'd appreciate it if you could help me. Ask me if u need more info. Thank you.

Answer:System Idle Process

It is Normal for the system idle process to be at 100% What is keeping your computer busy is something else and if the system ilde process is at 100% it more than likely is not a system process that is holding things up. It might be something that is still loading up or an infection of some sort.

Okay, So I am quite stuck with this issue. I know that the System Idle Process is used when there's nothing to do and it will always be 99 around that. But the problem is that when I run a busy program or games which normally would instantly replace the CPU usage from System Idle Process. It doesn't now or it does only 50%, which makes my games lag and barely unplayable. My computer spec isn't that stone and I think spec isn't the problem because the game I always run are just Warcraft III, Starcraft, Civilization etc..I'm using WINXP SP3 with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.80 Ghz / 4 GB of RAM / Nvidia GeForce 9800GTI have tried scanning with Malwarebytes(the first time I ever used antivirus since I formatted it) and it detected 9 infected files, mostly are the keygen and stuff, so I removed them and restarted, hoping my comp will be back just like normal but still bad luck. :/ Could it be my hardware problem ? Graphic card ? Fans ? getting old and dusty ?or could it be any malware or virus ?It just happened today for no reason. I am now can't get a decent Warcraft III game going because all the CPU goes to System Idle Process instead of the game. I'm currently so desperate right now and my school break is almost over. Answer:System Idle Process

That process is exactly what it sounds like. IDLE.

That means how much of your CPU is not being used when you are doing nothing with your PC. If that number was at 10 or less i would be worried as your CPU is being taxed.

My system all of a sudden got slower than honey in Dec. to put it nice. When I go to task manage I see "system idle process" usage at 60 - 100%. Looked system idle process up and this is the explanation I got:

When opening Windows Task Manager you may notice that the "System Idle Process" is high and be concerned about something using your system resources. When a computer or a processor within the computer is idle it will have a high System Idle process in the CPU column, often in the 50's to 90's. This is completely normal for a computer as it waits for something to do.

But this has been going on forever I would guess, why is it slowing my system down now and it never did before? it's so slow Xmarks normal take 15 to 30 sec. to sync. I stopped it at 2 min. As I am typing this ...I type 5 to 10 letters and everything freezes for 5 sec. then it fills in and freezes, then 5 sec. later I can type some more.

Something else is going on. Any ideas on this?

Thanks!

I just started playing a online shooter game called Gunz ( http://gunz.ijji.com/ ) and i requires a download around 200 mb and an activex control which is a little suspicious...and then when i started playing, I come to find out that in Process explorer ( http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/ProcessExplorer.mspx) is showing that the System Idle Process has a window title of 'Gunz'! the thread count of that process doesnt increase however, and there is no other process that says it has any relation to Gunz. is this a security concern O_O someone plz tell me what this is all about

Answer:Gunz + System Idle Process

Hello, So I was copying a large group of files (400 gigs) to an external drive, it was about 150 gigs in when the PC crashed ( i believe due to MSI usb speed up), i've since removed the MSI program but CPU usage stays at 100% from the moment the PC turns on, however system idle process shows it's using most everything which is good, and PC perfomance is normal and unlike if CPU usage was actually 100%, but I can't figure out how to fix this, any suggestions or tips would be so helpful, I've attached screen shots showing 100% usage but every program running doesn't add up to near that and system idle showing everything mostly idle. Thanks!!!!!

Answer:CPU usage 100% but system idle process says otherwise

If its worth noting performance manager also only shows ~10% usage

I get that weird effect when running Media Player Classic, playing the song at a fast rate.

What's all the extra cpu coming from/wtf?

Answer:system idle process+cpu usage!=100

that is perfectly normal, the idle process shows how much of hte cpu speed is left.

If I understand the system idle process "connections" are other processes connections that are closing. They're all listed as time_wait.
Im trying to investigate a pair of IP addresses, which were utilising port 80.
146.255.39.1
23.239.16.243
I noticed these appear after running geforce experience. I believe they are related to nvidia, as nvstreamsvc utilises port 80, and some logs in search results for this show nvsteamsvc interacting with the 23.239 address.
However, im confused about the 146 address. A traceroute (which im not very sure of what the results mean) refer to secureserver.net, which I believe is part of akamai or something. Virustotal seems to have a page on it, with it being linked with odd websites.
My question is how can I find what process system idle process is refferring to, and is this a legitimate conection? Im pretty sure its nvidia, as it only appears when I mess with geforcr experience, it does not appear when doing anything else.
Thank you.

Answer:System Idle Process TCP connections

Hi according to who.is:The 1st IP address (146.255.39.1) is hosted by GoDaddy, and is allocated to an individual in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The 2nd IP address (23.239.16.243) is hosted by Linode in New Jersey, USA. A hostname for the IP is ipinfo.ioI've also come across information that a company called Digital Ocean may be behind both of these 2 mentioned since according to wikipedia they lease from data centres in New York and Amsterdam among others.

Ok, I know what System Idle Process is, but a few days ago my PC started running very slow. While doing nothing. Winamp is slow, Firefox is slow, Yahoo Messenger is slow, everything is slow.

My OS is Windows XP Professional + SP2 & my configuration AMD Athlon 64 3000+, 2 GB DDRAM. I use Kaspersky AntiVirus 7, Comodo Firewall Pro & SpyBot Search & Desroy as real time protection. I looked in Task manager and with Firefox, Winamp & Yahoo not even half of my memory is used, but my CPU Usage is at 80-100% (actually System Idle Process is at 80-100%) most of the time and everything runs slow or freezes. I have no unknown processes running in background and I have scanned my system with updated Kaspersky, Ad-Aware, SpyBot & McAfee (removed it after) and found nothing.

What could be the problem???

It takes up most of my cpu power. when i go under task manager by ctrl+alt+del then processes system idle processe takes up most of my system cpu when im not running a program that is, normally around 99%. I'm wondering if there is a way to get rid of it what is it and is it safe to get rid of. Because whenever I try to get rid of it it gives me an error message and syste mmechanic 6 wont let me do it either. Help.

Answer:Problem With System Idle Process

System Idle Process is rather a misleading term. It is just a track of how little your cpu is being utilised; for example 90% means only 10% of your cpu is actually being utilised.http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintas.../system%20idle/Regards,John

Howdy, My computer has been running slow alot lately, and most of the time the processor sound is on.   I went to the Windows Task Manager, and found that the System Idle Process is taking up most of my CPU Space, I see from other posts and articles that say it is normal, but doesn't System Idle Process running at high levels make my processor have a shorter life/ or could overheat?   Is there a way to unistall the System Idle Process or disable it?

Answer:Problems with System Idle Process

Also, I have Windows XP Home, 2.7 Ghz Celeron Processor with 128MB DDR PC2700 Ram.

System Idle Process - The higher the number the less CPU is being used. The thing to look at is what process is using the other 20%.

Hey guys,

I have made other posts about my horrendus cpu lag that has been occuring lately, it is still here after much scanning and cleaning of possible malware, i am fairly confident my computer is now malware free.

after looking at my running processes ihave noticed that it is "System Idle Process" that is eating up roughly 95% of my cpu at any given time, i tried ending the process but it wil not let me and it belongs to SYSTEM so i am sure it is importance, could it be corrupt or is there something horribly wrong i am missing out on.

any help would be much appreciated

Answer:System Idle Process Eating Up Cpu?!?

ok after some research i realise that system idle process is supposed to take up that much cpu...MY BAD! but as for the lag it is still here, after some playing around with task manager i have noticed that whatever applicatoin i have running e.g. "visualboyadvance.exe" (gameboy emulator) it will instantly eat up all my cpu and ther are massive spikes on the performance chart always at or right near 100% usage. the programs that i normally use should not be eating up all of my memory. i have an acer aspire laptop with 1 gb memory if anyone else has had problems with acer laptops and cpu. i suspect some foul play possibly, i will post an updated hijackthis log this just in case there is still malware on my computer.this lag is proving to be extremely annoying and once again any help would be MUCH appreciated.Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 2:13:51 PM, on 20/05/2007Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180)Running processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXBCES.EXEC:\WINDOWS\system32\LEXPPS.EX... I have a second computer running Windows ME, and I have been tweaking it up with a few second hand parts. As a result I have taken a bit more interest in how it's working.Speedfan and MBM both report 100% CPU usage continuously, although the machine works fine and is not sluggish at all.Not having Task Manger in ME I downloaded Process Explorer which show System Idle Process running and reflecting all the CPU capacity not used by other processes. It also show actual CPU usage correctly. What I don't understand is that all the stuff I read having Googled the issue says only NT versions of Windows have this process. Is that true?Does anyone with ME have this process running too?

Over the past few days my computer has been quite annoying indeed. Starting around say... the 29th, the slugishness began. Every time I type anything, such as in a search box online, in an e-mail, in this very box I'm typing in now, and in IMs, there is a long pause with nothing showing up and no sign that I am even typing. Only after I have stopped typing for more than around 3 seconds do the words I have just typed appear. This is quite the annoyance...

Ontop of that, whenever I open a new IE window, not only is everything about it slow, but when I click the drop down box too soon (as in within 10 seconds of the browser popping up), everything freezes and gets sluggish for a few seconds then jumps to what it's doing again.

I do ctrl-alt-delete and notice that System Idle Processes is taking over 99% of my CPU away. This kind of boggles my mind, so I restart the computer. I go into My Computer, right click the C\ drive and proceed to do a disk cleanup... 10 minutes later it still hasn't begun to show any progress or make any noise, so I cancel. I ctrl-alt-delete once again and it shows that the cleaning manager is now taking 90 somethin% of my CPU away, even after I canceled the cleaning process... so I end it's process. Low and behold, System Idle Processes jumps back to 99%.

So here's what I did... I intsalled the box of Norton Antivirus 2004 that's been on my desk for the past 2 weeks or so. It ran and dedected 9 cases of adware. I told ... Read more

Simple question. Maybe not a simple answer.

"Why is my System Idle Process hogging my CPU *even when* I'm trying to use demanding programs?"

It started yesterday. I've tried rebooting to no avail. I also can't think of anything significant I've done to my software setup the last few days.

As I understand it, the System Idle Process is putting part of my CPU 'to sleep' so save power. The problem is- when I run a game, it keeps doing it, and I end up with 10 FPS.

Answer:System Idle Process bad behaviour!

Problem solved.

...I flipped the power switch. Clearly there was something lingering in my... RAM?

I have gone thru the Vista cleaning process as described. The Root Repeal did not run as it seems that version to not be usable with Vista. All other logs attached here. thanks in advance!

Answer:System Idle Process Very High

You did not allow MGTools to run to completion. But based on the logs you provided, you do not have a malware issue.

System Idle process is exactly that....so if you are not doing anything, that process will be the largest. This is exactly how it should be.

Now I want you to do one thing. Please move ComboFix to your desktop ( NOTE: DO Not run it!!! )
It should not be here:
c:\users\jim\Downloads\ComboFix.exe
Otherwise it will not uninstall properly.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real-time protection. They are useful as backup scanners. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)

Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
"%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u

Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled U... Read more

in trying to determine why my daughter's computer is running so slow, i went to the task manager..."system idle process" in processes is using from 64% to 89% of the cpu resource. what i'm wondering is if there is a work-around for this. any and all help gratefully appreciated.

Answer:system idle process problem

Hello jillocity!

When "System Idle Process" is high, it's a good thing. The higher it is, the less your system is working ( which is better ).

Have you recently tried defragmenting your daughter's hard drive?

hi , is this normal to have your system idle process to be over 90% thats what it stays over... im on a Intel Celeron D Processor 2.53GHz with 768MB Ram is this normal or not ??

Answer:system idle process allways over 90% ?

that depends on what you are doing.

If you are totally idle, not doing anything, with 90%, then something is messed up.
