Windows XP crash because of unkown device driver

Question: Windows XP crash because of unkown device driver

Every once in a while, my windows XP crashes. When the windows automatically restarts, the error messaging of Windows shows up and says, "The system has recovered from a serious error..." When I send the error report to Microsoft, the online crash analysis says that the crash was the result of a devise driver but that no further infortmation is available. Other than the factory installed programs and Micosoft Office 2003 (a fully licensed legitimate version) and the RealOne Player, I don't have anything else installed. I have never had any file-sharing programs installed. Sometimes, before the Windows restarts I see this blue screen that quickly goes away which also says that the system crashed because of something, but the blue screen goes away quickly and the Windows starts. How can I find out what the problem is. How can I find out which one of my device drivers is causing the repeated crashing of the Windows XP? I even went to the device manager, but none of the devices had their boxes opened, which means that they are operating correctly. My laptop is an HP pavillion ze5385us and I bought it two years ago. It has Windows XP SP-1 with all the usual updates. It has the Pentium 4 Processor at 2.66GHz. And this problem has been going on for more than a year now. Please help!

Preferred Solution: Windows XP crash because of unkown device driver

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a few problems:

1. My one USB 3.0 does not recognize any device I plug in. In the device manager "Unknown Device" is displayed under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" when something is plugged in. I can charge my phone in this port though. Actually, I just plugged in an older USB mouse I had and it worked briefly. I haven't had this happen with anything else. I know I had this mouse consistently plugged into this port when it was still working though. Hm... coincidence?

2. One of my two USB 2.0s works, but it will only recognize my newer USB Mouse, and nothing else. My last USB 2.0 will accept everything I plug into it; the older mouse, USB Keyboard, and Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch.

3. I'm pretty sure this is unrelated, but Windows always fails to install update "Intel Corporation-Display-Intel® HD Graphics."

4. The device manager likes to refresh... a lot... and fairly irregularly.

I've tried re-installing and uninstalling the "Unknown Driver," but to no result.

Answer:USB 3.0 "Unkown Device" and other USB/Driver issues.

In Device Manager...scroll down to USB Controllers...uninstall each sub-item there which has "controller" in the description.  Once that is done, reboot...the USB drivers should reinstall upon booting anew.

My PC has started shutting down , well the screen goes black and I have to switch off then back on. When it reboots I get the error message that the system has recovered from a serious error and the Microsoft OAC tells me its caused by an unknown device driver. No solution availabe.

In device manager there is no yellow ? Ive gone thru all my drivers to check for updates and tried without success to find out exactly what driver is causing the problem. The microsoft troubleshooter on minidumps etc is as clear as mud to me.

I have run the following. Ewido, Spyware doctor, Spybot, Bazooka, Blacklight, Hijackthis and apart from a few cookies nothing was found.

The only thing that seemed to work was doing a system restore and the latest restore point mentioned something about Software Distribution T-Online ???? The only changes made recently were some updates so I assume this was one of them, I got nowhere with google on the subject.

Problem solved !! well it was for 3 days then it did it again. And it also bleeped twice in those three days. My pc has never done that before.

The shutdowns happen both when online and when in folders etc.

Help?

I run my XP firewall, Nod32, regularly use Spybot and immunise with Spyware Blaster and every so often run a full system scan with Spyware doctor. I also regularly run CCleaner and Reg Seeker.

Ive just remember one thing I did that may be relevant , maybe not but I was fed up with the flyout program list being so big ... Read more

Hi guys, I need some help here. I upgraded my laptop from 8.1 to 10 a couple of days ago. It started with the BSOD (Power state failure) every single time after  a resume from sleep. I resolved that by changing some(If I still remember correctly) chipset controller drive to another driver (There was only 2 to choose from the menu it was either one or the other) Problem is, I realized a removable unkown device in my toolbar. Went into device manager found out it was the sandisk U100 ssd (From the ID thing-o). It was labeled as an unkown device. I cannot find precence of the driver from any diaganostic software. (I THINK I used to see it in the hard disk test in the lenovo quick test but now there is only the main hdd) In the bios, the closet thing that I can find that resembles the SSD is something called HDD2 in the boot sequence.  Does anyone have an idea on how to get the cache drive back?

I've made a fresh, clean install of Windows XP on my toshiba portege m200 (tablet). I've got most of the devices drivers installed, but there's one that I can't figure out. Device Manager says I have an "unknown device" on my "Intel 82801 dbm lpc interface controller".

What is it? I thought it was the chipset, but I had installed the Intel chipset drivers (twice, just to make sure I had really done it), but it still reads as "unknown device" on "Intel(R) 82801DBM LPC Interface Controller - 24CC ".

Answer:Portege M200 - Unkown device in device manager

To fix this problem go to device manager, right click on the unknown device and select update driver.
When the hardware update wizard comes up, select the advance option.
On the next window, select the "Do not Search. I will choose the driver" option
Now go to the Intel listing and select the correct "82801DBM LPC Interface Controller - 24CC?
Click OK and now it should work.

Make also sure that you have all drivers from the Toshiba website installed:

Hi.
I recently installed Windows 7 on my L500-164 with all Vista 64 driver. I didn't find special drivers for Windows 7 x64 on the drivers download page.
But there is still one device with an unknown state in the device manager. I installed all avaible drivers so I don't know what that may be. How can I find out and install the proper driver? The device's name is just "unknown"

Thanks in advance
-feodor

Answer:Satellite L500-164 Unkown Device in Device Manager

Hello Feodor

You confuse me completely. If the Win7 64bit drivers are not available how you can write ?I installed all available drivers?? What drivers you installed?

Anyway, open properties for this unknown device and go to details. There you can find device ID.
Send us this device ID.

Recently i noticed that i have an unkown device in my device manager, its hardware id is "PCI\VEN_1414&DEV_0004&SUBSYS_00041414&REV_00", which seems to be a usb host simulator.
But what on earth is it? I can't delete it, after deleting, it will appear again.

Answer:Unkown device in device manger and can't be uninstalled

If you right click on it then click Properties it should show the name of the driver. I'm not familiar with it. But deleting will just cause Windows to reinstall the device. I would find out what the driver is for before uninstalling.

Also "if it ain't broke don't fix it" is usually a good rule of thumb to follow.

When trying to install farstone virtual drive on a computer it reboots during the driver installation phase. After the reboot at the desktop windows says new hardware found and asks to install it. It's the offending driver, fcdabios. Windows installs it and says it was installed successfully. Then the computer spontaneously reboots again. It seems to start alright back at the desktop but again reboots after 2 minutes. The only cure is to do a restore from a norton ghost image. I sent a debug file to farstone but haven't received a reply yet. I can install this program on another computer with a similar configuration with no problem. Any ideas as to what to look for? My laptop has been misbehaving lately (taking a long time to startup and to shut down), and yesterday, I came home to one of those blue screen messages saying the computer had to shut down, and in the analysis it lists the cause as "Unknown device driver" To my knowledge, I haven't installed anything suspect lately. Any ideas as to how I can identify this driver?

Answer:Unkown Crash For The First Time

If it is the first time, is it still there? or has it gone away?

If it has gone away, then don't worry about it until the next time.

It is continues to happen, then I'd guess it is a Memory Parity problem. You can remove or substitute other memory boards until you find the problem.

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)

The driver could not be loaded because a previous version of the driver is still in memory.

and now I am not able to connect any usb device to my laptop making it virtually impossible to use windows 10.
How do I downgrade to windows 7,have enough of the beta testing.

I have been having this recurring problem for quite some time now. Every once in a while my computer will just restart itself and come back with an error message saying Windows has recovered from a serious error.

As it restarts it goes to a black screen, not a blue screen, and in the center it says "No Signal" which is highlighted in blue. That is just normal for shutting off or restarting the computer though. Should I change it so it doesn't restart on system or failure to see if I will get a BSOD? To me this seems like some sort of power supply problem or something. Anyway here are the messages I receive when it goes back on:

Hi,

I've got a new Acer Aspire Core 2 Duo 1.66 GZ with 1GB RAM and a Nvidia GeForce Go 7300 graphics card. I bought a MSI Mega Sky 580 USB Digital TV tuner for it that includes a basic remote control. Twice when using the remote the system has blue screened and re-booted. When I don't use the remote, I don't seem to have any problems. I was asked to run Memtest86 to check the ram - 8 passes reported no errors. Chkdsk also came back with no problems. I think the problem may lie with the tv tuner driver - bdacap.sys.

Can someone confirm my suspicions, or is something else causing the crash.

Cheers

Have you tried optional updates thru windows update - i think its to do with a monitoring chip on the board - there are a couple of drivers on the site - ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

Click downloads - vista 64 bit OS - GO to utilities - this maybe the driver you need - ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Win7 32&64-bit - i would see if this installs firstly, or whether its on windows update.

There is also a driver Im not sure about it could be : ACPI driver for ATK 0110 virtual device version 1043.2.15.37 for Windows 2000 / XP (32bit and 64bit) / 2003 (32bit & 64bit) / VISTA (32bit & 64bit)

When i go into the BIOS it list the new processor and all that good stuff, but on the device manager it list UNKNOWN DEVICE under CPU, and when i try to upgrade the BIOS for the mother board (Intel D945GCL) its says that its not an intel product. What "charger"? Is this the mains adapter for a Laptop or have you plugged a charger for another device into a USB port? If it is a USB connection, Windows might detect this as new hardware and try to install it.

I just did a clean install of Windows 2000 on an old IBM NetVista.

I upgraded the BIOS to the latest before doing so.

Everything is looking pretty good except I've got one device that isn't recognized in Device Manager. Device Manager does not say what it is - just the yellow ! mark.

I ran Aida32 and was able to determine that the unknown device appears to be an Intel 828101BA SMBus Controller.

I ran the Intel Inf Installer, but I still can't get Windows to recognize the device.

I'm not noticing any problems, but it would be nice to figure out what's going on.

What do you suggest I try now?

Thanks!

hiI generated a system health report from Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools\Advanced Tools in Win7In the resource and performance monitor report it had 2 errors under the diagnostic report. these were Unkown devices ROOT\LEGACY_TAPISRV\0000 & ROOT\LEGACY_RASMAN\0000 a quick search has lead me to this site with a similar post I was wondering if anyone can help?

Answer:unkown devices in device manager

Unless you have a specific problem...I would ignore the report. If you go to the device manager and all the drivers are installed without yellow exclamation marks or red x's; if all the drivers are installed, ignore the report.

In Device Manager this processor is showing as 4 unknown devices and does this anywhere that would show what the processor type is, is there a way to fix this?

I'm not sure if it even has to do with being in Windows 7 7100 or not though.

Forgot to say I just got this processor on May 5th so it's been like that since I first used it.

And when did you install Win 7?

I've had issues with the touchpad on and off ever since I bought this laptop. Sometimes it doesn't work after a startup (fixed with restart), just skips around after startup (fixed with restart) or the "advanced" touchpad functions like two finger scrolling etc. don't work after startup (fixed by reinstalling drivers + restart.  But this time it's different. There is no mouse pointer, no function at all. I've rebooted several times. When I try to install a driver I am told there is "no appropriate driver to be installed". When I look in the device manager, there is no touchpad device but an unkown device. Its hardware ID is ACPI\VEN_FFF&DEV_FFFF which can't be right. I've tried uninstalling the unkown device and searching for hardware changes. I've tried updating the driver through windows. I've also tried installing the driver by using the "add legacy hardware" button but it did not work. And yes I have already checked that it's not disabled with the fn keys  Please help

Hi
I have a Equium L20-198 PSL2ZE!

I'm having difficulty with the drivers provided by this site whenever I try to install the driver it stops telling me that the chipset is unsupported by the program, so I have these unknown devices left to resolve

ethernet controller
pci modem
sm bs controller
sb controller
vga controller

And even though there a wireless switch (and it works ie turns the light on). I have no software or details of the wireless device installed (its standard) whatever that is!!
Is there no driver utility as in all the drivers in one from toshiba!

Thanks to whomever repiles in advance because this is driving me mad!!

Answer:Re: Equium L20-198 - Unkown devices in device manager

Hi

What OS did you install on your Equium L20??

Normally you can download all drivers on the Toshiba website. Did you check this?
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers

I had a similar error message if I tried to install a newer chipset driver but it worked if I installed the driver in device manager with the advanced installation order.

Hello. In "device manager" I see an unknown device with this Id : ROOT\LEGACY_NPF\0000 (plus other references, see next): http://tinyurl.com/lzgqz2hAnd in "information system" : http://tinyurl.com/l9udv4aCarefully I desactivated this device. For now I prefere not uninstall this device because with this desactivation I known where I can find this device and I can still see these features. This device corresponds to nothing about my installation (hardware and software), so I think. And with this device disabled my pc run normally as before.Infection or simple problem ?Does anyone could help me (with a ZHPDiag or a HiJackThis rapport for exemple) for this problem and if necessary tell me how properly eradicate this unknown device from my PC ?Some precisions :My system : windows XP pro - SP3My antivirus (Comodo), adwcleaner and malwarebytes didn't find anything. My PC runs well (excepted sometimes for some slowing down but I think this is due to my configuration --> processor : 1,81 Hz / RAM : 2 Go).Thanks for your support.message edited by craumt

I've had a heck of a time finding drivers for my MB in the past. Even my $100/hr IT guy at work who took my PC home overnight at one point said he had a heck of a time finding the RIGHT MB drivers that worked.

So, my PC is working right now, so I'm a little scared to go messing with it but I think I've come to the right place. I've been having some random trouble rebooting and some slow frame rates in games and found I have a bad Video Card today (was running dual SLI) As I was researching that problem I discovered I have an unknown device, in the "Details" tab it's Hardware value is ACPI\AWY0001.

In another post on this site "http://www.techsupportforum.com/f19/acpi-awy0001-2-and-daba3ff-and-0-a-329611.html" One answer was to update the chipset, but since that was an HP Pavilion the link provided obviously won't work.

My MB is an ASUS M2N-SLI rev. 1.00G

On a side note, I've read that the program EVEREST is a good program to give you info about your system, but when I install and run EVEREST home ed it can't give me any info about my MB, Chipset, GPU. Just thought that was weird. Maybe it's because all my drivers aren't installed.

Answer:Unkown Device problem, Maybe chipset related

In device manager under hardware ID's post the PCI/VEN and DEV numbers.

Is the board a retail Asus board or in a OEM(prebuilt) PC?

Hello there,
all of a sudden the sound has stopped working on my packard bell easynote e3/e5 laptop.
I've tried system restores from many different restore points, but it keeps saying it cant do it. No reason.. it just, cant do it.
Ive checked the device manager and it has 2 yellow exclmation marks in the sound and video section, both of which are listed as Unkown items.
When i try to uninstall/reinstall the items, i get a message saying the items were not intended for my platform and it quits installation.

Ive now tried getting both the new ac97 patch, and the one i used when it worked last time, both of which havnt done anything.

Ive had a couple of messages about winmm wmd's and kernel audio splitters but still no resolve.

Ive gone to the packarad bell website and downloaded the new respective patches, including the realtek audio driver and the realtek wmd update but still no sound.

This is disgusting, Ive been trying to fix it for 3 days solid.

Is there an ymore info i can give?! Does anyone know what I can do?

Oh and when i try to play videos, obviously the video plays fine, but just without sound. When I try and open volume control i get an error message saying theres no mixing device on the system so i should go to add hardware, but of course everytime i do that, it either says theres nothing wrong and doesnt fix anything, or it says theres something wrong but it wont fix it. Brilliant.

I will love whoever can help me out of this sticky situati... Read more

Okay add to the questions... when i first start my computer up now it says add new hardware and it says something like its searching...... for USB Imaging Device, windows was unable to locate driver for this device..whats this mean?? how do i fix this? I right clicked on my computer, properties, Device manger..there is a yellow ? beside other Devices the the little thing that comes below it has a yellow ? with(!) over it. USB Imaging Device..whats all this mean??? does it have anything to do with why i can install my new modem?
thanks much

Answer:USB Imaging Device, windows was unable to locate driver for this device..whats this m

At some stage recently you have placed a new scanner/digital camera, or the likes of, in your computer. Windows hasn't been able to apply a driver to that device and so it asks you if you want to connect to the internet to try and find a matching driver on the microsoft web site. The problem is easily solved. If you still have the device connected and plan on using it, then grab the CD that came with it and follow the installation instructions on it. If you don't have it connected then go back to the 'my computer' 'properties' into 'device manager'. In there disable the imaging device that has the yellow ! next to it. And hopefully next time you restart, no more problem.

Hey guys, I've had this problem for days now and have had no success in fixing it. I've did a clean install of windows, yet I still come across this problem. I've linked the minidump file, with hopes that someone can tell me what the problem is. I've had 2 kinds of blue screen, both of which are in the driver.

Minidump - Copy.dmp

Now, the enclosed mindump had the system service exception error. At that time, I was running an AVG scan and transferring files from my backup. It began lagging, then crashed. There are a few things to note though. Before I restored, my computer experienced this randomly ( once a week ) while playing a game. However, there was no bluescreen, just a fizz and crash. After a series of recurring crashes, it came to the point where I couldn't even reach the loading screen without it crashing. Note that before my restore, there was no blue screen, but there were minidumps.

I'm not sure what caused this, as I have not made any hardware changes for years, especially not now with my finals coming up. Here I've attached a few minidumps before I restored for your viewing pleasure.

Minidumps before restore.zip

I do have yet to run memtest on my computer, so the idea that my RAM is corrupt is not out of the question. Also, a recent techie I've called over said that my graphics card could be spoiled. However, I've read that these two errors aren't related to the graphics card, only drivers or memory.

As of now, I have AVG, drivers, motherboard... Read more

Answer:IRQL Driver and Window System BSOD, unkown cause

It's clear the reason for all of this is because your finals are coming up. As I've found, there's a direct correlation between approaching testing date and stability of PC.

Joking aside, I can kinda see why the graphics card could be blamed, as the crashdumps often had DirectX operations taking place at the time of the crash. I did, however, see other problems, such as a "file cannot be read due to corruption" error that triggered a BSOD.

If you wish, you can turn on Driver Verifier just to be absolutely sure we aren't dealing with some driver bug here. Do not select the following checks: Force Pending I/O Requests, IRP Logging, and Low Resource Sim. Select all other checks. Make sure to restart system after you finish setup. If you experience a boot loop afterwards, go into Safe Mode by pressing F8 prior to Windows logo and disable DV there. Provide us any new crashdumps.

I recommend you follow with some hardware tests:

RAM: Memtest86+ - 7+ passes
CPU: Prime95 - Torture Test; Blend; overnight (9+ hours)
Drives: Seatools - All basic tests aside from the advanced ones.

In addition, you may wanna run Chkdsk in regards to that corrupted file error. Go to Computer, then right click your Windows drive then click Properties. Then go to Tools tab, then click Check Now. Select both checks, then attempt to start. It'll prompt you to schedule to run test at next boot. Agree to it, and follow the same procedure for every other internal storage drive listed. Hi! The Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2017/2:nd edition has an OLED panel option. Lenovo's download page for this model, https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/hk/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-... , offers a driver "Intel "OLED Panel Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - ThinkPad X1 Yoga (Type: 20JD, 20JE, 20JF, 20JG)", 1.0.0.5, 2017/10/02, in the Display and Video Graphics section. In Windows, the device appears as "Intel(R) OLED Panel Driver" under "System devices" in the Windows Device Manager. Normally I'd think all needed to drive a display is the graphics driver (e.g. "Intel(R) HD Graphics 620" under "Display adapters") and a monitor file for resolution, frequency and color calibration ("OLED Display 2560x1440" under "Monitors"). So, why do we need an "Intel(R) OLED Panel Driver", and what does this device actually do?

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) <-- This god for shaken message is stopping me from enjoying my computer.

The driver is MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ-861H ATA Device

And that up there is the error message, i havnt downloaded anything i just pressed the button on the cd/dvd drive and my computer shut down and when i turned it back on nothing it it worked.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Im practilly computer illiterate so please be easy on the big words and stuff =]

Answer:Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted

Please try the steps below:

1. Uninstall all third-party burning software, such as Nero and Roxio.

2. Perform a Clean Boot to test the result.

Clean Boot

========
a. Click Start, type "MSCONFIG" (without the quotations) in the Search Bar and Press "Enter" to start the System Configuration Utility.

Note: Please click Continue if the "User Account Control" window pops up.

b. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
c. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
d. Restart the computer and test the issue.

Note: Clean Boot is a troubleshooting step. If some programs have been disabled, we can re-enable them later. If you see the System Configuration Utility, check the box of "Don't show this message" and then click "OK".

Please test this issue in the Clean Boot environment. If the issue disappears, we can use a 50/50 approach to quickly narrow down which entry is causing the issue.

If the issue persists, please contact your computer manufacturer to check if the DVD drive is damaged.

If not, you may need to restore the system to its factory settings.

Hope it helps.

Could this be a problem?

Also , do the upper/lower filters need to be removed from the Control set 001 and Control set 002 . Please get back to me ASAP.

Warning: This is gonna be messy.

Okay... So I have a HP dv6000 with Windows Vista Home Premium. Over the past six months it has been suffering from hard drive issues, resulting in crashes. The remedy to fix the crashed hard drive has been to do a complete system restore by booting the computer, hitting F11, and doing a COMPLETE SYSTEM RECOVERY to factory settings.

However, this last time I went to recover to factory settings I got a message saying Error: 10002 - Contact HP if this persists.

Long story short, I have now warranty, and do not want to get the hardware fixed nor the software looked at. I am happy with a barely functioning computer as I have a desktop I primarily use.

I am also a student in the School of Business at a state university, and we have a partnership with Microsoft for free product downloads. With that said, I have had the pleasure of using Windows 7 Professional for quiet some time on my desktop. Now, I want to just reinstall Windows on my laptop - whether its vista, xp, or 7.

That said, I have all three ISO's burned to a CD and LEGAL CD KEYS to use with them.

XP had a partition issue that I haven't spent much time with, and windows vista wont recognize my cd key that came with the laptop (THIS IS THE ONLY CD KEY I DID NOT GET ONLINE FOR I HAVE ONE LEGALLY VIA MY COMPUTER PURCHASE).

For that reason, I moved on to Windows 7. I go to install it, and the first thing that comes up in that windows 7 needs to install a cd/dvd driver dev... Read more

I am tying to sync my Samsung Galaxy J7Sky Pro phone with my computer using Samsung Smart Switch Program.
When I start the Smart Switch Program and plug in the USB cable from the phone to the computer USB port, the device driver for the phone does not install properly or recognize the phone, as depicted by a yellow exclaimation point for the Galaxy J7 Sky Pro
device driver and AMDA00 interface under system devices.
I tried reinstalling the Samsung phone device driver but still get the above exclaimation for these drivers.
I then shut down and restarted the Samsung phone and the drivers reinstalled properly and the Smart Switch Program worked.

My issue is that the next time I restarted my computer, I get the same device driver errors.
Is there some way to prevent having to restart and reinstall the device drivers each time I want to sync my phone using the Smart Switch program?
Same issue used to happen with my Samsung Galaxy SIII phone, before I upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy J7 Sky Pro.
It is a real pain in the neck and time waster.

I was working on my assignments for school and my computer crashed. I had to restart my computer. Upon doing so when it logged back into windows my internet no longer worked. After troubleshooting I discovered it wasn't just my Internet. My Ethernet, DVD, DVDR, Sound, and USB Drivers all no longer worked. Under Admin Tools - Comp Management - Device Manager these items have the lil yellow buttons with the ! in them. I was capable of rolling back the drivers on my Ethernet and Sound. So I've got that up and running. My USB, CD/DVD. and USB's do not work. Rollback the drivers do not work. I keep getting Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) I can't rollback or update drivers for these items.

I have ran Panda websites anti-virus checker. Nothing. AVG nothing. Spybot nothing. Ad-Ware nothing. I even rolled the computer back a few days as was suggested by someone else. Nothing. Luckily the ethernet let me rollback the driver, but the others are the stuck. Any suggestions? Anyone had this problem before? ... Bueller?...Bueller?

How do i figure out what driver or even component windows wants software for when in the device manager under other devices it lists an unknown device and windows update cannot find anything.

Oh and is it appropriate for me to use this topic to ask another question regarding explorer.exe as while i am inside a folder i delete (by choosing delete from the context menu in the tree view) while inside that folder on this particular laptop PC explorer. always crashes, collect information, sends it and restarts explorer. I have not experienced this problem on any other pc running any version of windows 7, oh and the same happened with build 7264 x32 and the current install of build 7600 x64.

Answer:Display Driver Crash in Windows 10

TKaempfer Actually, that is NOT the date of the driver on the HP Website because, for reasons not made clear to us, HP insists on presenting two very different dates. If you click the Details button for that driver, you will see that it was actuall dated Aug 15, 2015 -- and thus, when you search for a newer version, there is none so you will be told that your driver is up to date. I suspect that date will match the other copy of the driver you have -- which means, sorry, there is no newer driver version. ========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------If my posts helped you, please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on my post to say thanks. If my posts solved your problem please click "Accept As Solution".========================================================================

Hello,
Few days ago I decided to install a clean version of Windows 10 deleting all user files from PC. Everything seems to work fine, until I launched League of Legends. I got "Display driver has stopped responding and recovered" error. After that in Device Manager my Nvidia graphic adapter became hidden. I'v been reinstalling windows for 3 times, and tried a lot of solutions on forums, sometimes I could play normally, but sometimes i got that error. Can anyone help?

Answer:Windows 10 Display Driver Crash

I suggest you check with the Graphics card manufacturer for a W10 driver and install this rather than the driver you are currently using.

Dear Lenovo Community,  I tried today to install an AMD HD7450 (not the one sold by Lenovo but does it make a difference ?) on the PCIe port of a Lenovo M82. The aim for me is to use 3 screens on the Lenovo.  I have two distinct problems I do not understand.-> First of all : Lenovo Bios concerning "multiple screen" option. What does exactly means this option ?  This does nos seems to be explained in the Lenovo "hardware" PDF.I found here : http://download.lenovo.com/express/HT062228.htmlThat "multiple screen support" with additionnal PCI-e card requires to use the "IGD" mode and Enable Multi-Monitor Support. However, when I do so, the two screens (two LCDs with 1080p support, one VGA, one DVI) do not go on : only one of these is on even when Windows Desktop is reached, whatever the IGD, Auto, PEG and so one options I do activate. I think it's not normal, even if the driver is not installed. The two video cards (internal and PCI-e) should run in a VGA compatibility mode, isn't it ? So I have a question : does the Lenovo BIOS automatically disable the internal video card when an extra PCI-e card is detected ? Or does this behavior depends on "Select ACtive Video" / "Multi-Monitor Support" options of the BIOS ? Could someone clarify what is the M82 behaviour about this, or give some documentation ? -> Next : AMD HD 7540 compatibility, even as unique video displayTo install the AMD HD7540 video card on the Windows 7 x 64 system (installed by default ... I have 2 RTM copies of Windows 7 I'm testing both are 64bit and both normally have ATI cards installed (one is a 4650 the other a 4870). The problem is I get a BSOD doing the following: 1. Change resolution 2. Change Refresh rate 3. Change Primary/secondary monitors 4. Load a game that changes the resolution The following do not: 1. Setting Over-scan 2. Setting 3d settings 3. Under clocking GPU [Anything else on the system including playing games that do not change the resolution]. I have about 20 hours into setting up this system and have already wasted an activation on it. I need a way to adjust the resolution without a BSOD occurring every time (note changes are lost). I'm looking for some kind of solution to this issue. Thanks, ERIC

Answer:Windows 7 ATI 9.8 Driver crash on resolution change

egandt, welcome to the forums.

Can't say that I have seen that one yet, hopefully someone else has. Not really sure what is going on. I am running dual monitors here (a 22" at 1680x1050 and a 19" at 1440x900, with the 22" primary), and have never had a BSOD from changing resolutions; don't change the refresh rate as both are LCD's.

P.S. Would help to know what the monitors are as well.

I have a T500 I got secondhand. When I got it, it was running Vista. I recently upgraded it to WIndows 7. Do I need to install a windows 7 driver, or should I keep udating the existing driver?

It seems my display driver (AMD (HD) Radeon 7470M and Intel (R) Graphics Family) on my HP laptop (Beats edition 3002) is causing windows explorers and other programmes (e.g. Kaspersky, MS One Drive and BBC iplayer downloads) to crash. Please could someone help me?

After my Windows 7 auto update last week, my AMD Radeon 7400M display driver (14.100.0.0) failed to work. So, I tried to upgrade the display driver. The problem started to deepen as I tried different things to rectify the problem. I ended uninstalling Flash Driver, and the problem did not go away, so I reinstalled it. To cut the long story short, I went to HP website and reinstalled the original display driver (AMD (7470 and Intel (R) Graphics Family).

I would really appreciate if someone could help me find the solution.

Thank you.

I just did a clean install of Windows 7 home x86 and when I try to install my Graphics driver, about 30 seconds into installation, I get the Blue screen where it says something about a system crash. I can not go on the internet on this computer as when I try to install my network driver, I select English and i get this error. So I can not install that driver either. This is so annoying! I cant play my games, nor can I go on the internet to browse for a problem on that computer, or play online multiplayer. I run a Edimax wireless card, and a ATI Radeon HD 5450 graphics card. If any help can be, it will be by far appreciated.

I recently purchased a Dell XPS 15 9550 laptop running Windows 10 Home 64-bit.  Unfortunately, every now and again I seem to encounter a BSOD.
From the debugger output, the issue looks to point to the wifi driver (nwifi.sys); however, I can't seem to reproduce the issue.  The crash is very sporadic.
I have tried the following:

Run Dell Diagnostics - no issue reported.
Upgrading drivers - upgraded drivers on 12/01/16 including BIOS, but  11 days  later, the issue has reoccurred.

NOTE: The Minidump from the crash has been attached.
Any tips/suggestions would be much appreciated.

I have recently installed Windows XP Professional on my Thinkpad 600x. Everything in the installation went fine, I've installed a small amount of software (Firefox, Photoshop, a couple of audio players, Avast antivirus), and I have dutifully installed all of the updates, including Service Pack 2. Unfortunately, the machine has a tendency to crash during shutdown, which always results in it coming back up and telling me it has "recovered from a serious error". After submitting the reports, it suggests that the problem is due to a missing driver - Crystal SF (WDM) Audio Driver. However, it always fails when I try to install this, resulting in the whole sad story starting all over again. I have followed the instructions on the Windows driver help page, most of which involved renaming the catroot2 file, but this did me no good. It's also worth noting that, in addition to failing to install, the driver often gives me an error that says the software "has not passed Windows logo testing". Can anyone help me out here? Is this audio driver really what is causing my machine to crash every time I try to shut it down? Thanks a lot,Alex

Hi.  My laptop isHP Pavilion dm4-3107tx Beats Edition Entertainment Notebook PC.   I tried installing its graphics drivers from this link:  http://support.hp.com/ph-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dm4-3100-Beats-Edition-Entertainment-Not... but I couldn't install the intel graphics. It says that the laptop does not meet the minimum requirements of the graphics driver.  I also tried installing AMD and it did. But everytime I reboot, the Windows startup gets stuck. I also noticed it resulting to the stuck startup when I just recently updated my Windows including the update for the intel driver which I have not yet installed (because I know that once I did, I would have to do a lot of recovery and repair to the opearting system for the nth time). And now I really feel stressed over this because I have been formatting my laptop for the second time, and the last time was with the update of the intel driver. I was back at the stuck startup again and I really had enough of it. I really need help with this. Do I have to install ALL the drivers in the link before installing the graphic drivers to make sure that the graphics drivers will install?

I'm not sure why this problem even exists, most of what I looked at online doesn't seem to offer any fixes. Or if it does they don't work. I'm trying to get help from anyone anywhere now as Warner Bros. and NVIDIA don't have any sort of fix for it and Warner

- Installing new drivers after running DDU.
- Several older drivers.

We used to have "stereo mix" option that enabled streaming audio recording without having to have the audio playing through the speakers. How do I do that now? What replaces that capability? Who makes my sound card? Why is that not readily available somewhere in Dell land? I can't believe forum searching found pretty much nothing on this.

Answer:Latitude E6530 Windows 10 no "stereo mix" option for sound input device, only "high definition audio device" with Microsoft driver and unknown manufacturer.

aj_chicagoWho makes my sound card?
Hello. The audio chip manufacturer was IDT.
aj_chicagoWhat replaces that capability?
IDT doesn't have "stereo mix", so I'm not sure how you used to have it on the E6530. IDT has an equivalent capability that it calls Rec.Playback. That can be found in the list of recording devices, after the IDT driver is installed.
aj_chicagoHow do I do that now?
Dell doesn't support audio on an E6530 that has had Win10 installed. The IDT company went out of the consumer audio business long before there was a Win10 OS, so there is no Win10 IDT driver for that model. Your computer is currently using the Windows native audio driver, which, as you say, does not support a stereo mix kind of feature.
You should be able to install the IDT driver for Win7 by installing with compatibility mode.
1. Download and save the audio driver to your desktop or any convenient location on the hard drive.  [There are two "formats" on the driver's page. Scroll down to the 2nd one, named "Hard Drive" format, and download that one, not the 1st one named "Windows Update Package".]2. Double click on the new folder to extract (unzip) the driver files.3. The extractor wizard will create a new folder for the driver files. It will be at "c:\dell\drivers\xxxxxx". Write down the exact location that the wizard creates. 4. If the driver begins to install automatically, halt (cancel) the installation.5. Browse to the dri... Read more

Why is getting drivers installed on a new PC installation so difficult. I went to the Dell site and downloaded all the drivers. THen I went to device manager menu, and for each unknown device, I have to try every downloaded driver (around 25). I can't imagine everyone doing this... I mean first of all it does not search itself on the internet and secondly, we have to try each driver downloaded for each device. After doing all this, I still get driver not found for PCI device. I am tired. Can someone please tell me which driver I need to download for this? I don't want to try everything over again.. its very difficult.

I tried to make a thread for this earlier, but I mistake on the driver name.  So I'll try this again. Windows can't identify the manufacturer my PCI device driver, but I got the Hardware Id for it (PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_5289&SUBSYS_528910EC&REV_01) and a Google searchh told me that it's a Realtek PCIE Card Reader, but I tried downloading that from Realtek website and also from the Acer website and still get that same error in Device Manager.  My laptop model is Aspire V5-571G.  The driver details in Device Manager are as follows: "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)There are no compatible drivers for this device. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver." And it says that the manufacturer is unknown.  Any help would be appreciated.
