Linksys Wireless G PCI adapter causing lock ups.

Question: Linksys Wireless G PCI adapter causing lock ups.

Whenever I touch the antenna just to try to move it, or even bump it slightly, while my pc is on, it makes my system freeze up and I have to reset my PC to fix it. Whats going on?

Preferred Solution: Linksys Wireless G PCI adapter causing lock ups.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

linksys wusb11 v.2.8 is causing continuous spontaneous rebooting

I had this adapter working fine on my dell p3 machine with xp sp1 newly installed from scratch ( from previous 98 ME).

Windows Automatic Updates brought the machine up to SP2.
Now the machine is spontaneously rebooting unless I remove the WUSB11 adapter. I sometimes make it through booting and get a few seconds on the net where a windows error report said I needed an update which so far I cannot find. If i reboot the machine without the adapter all is well (except no internet of course..which makes it hard to download any fixes (sic) ).
Thanks for any advise..I have access to a functioning laptop for downloading an transferring any updates available.

I checked linksys for any updates on drivers and they have only the ones that came originally with the adapter..no updates there. It seems to be a win sp2 problem so far.

I have tried everything. I recently moved out of the parents house and into my new house and upgraded to an N-Router from a G-Router. Now before my PC even starts up it crashes with the blue screen of death. I've isolated the problem to have something to do with the compatibility between my Linksys WRT160N Wireless-N router and my Linksys WMP54G Wireless-G PCI adapter. When I take the computer back to my parents house it works and connects fine to the old network. If I unplug the antenna from the PCI adapter the PC works (no internet.) If I disconnect the power supply from N-Router the PC works fine (no internet.) But if I put the antenna back in or plug the N-router back in it immediately goes from being fine to the blue screen of death. Can anyone help?

Answer:Linksys N-Router/Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter incompatibility?

I should mention that I can use the internet fine with my laptop and iPod touch.

Hi all, I've setup a wireless network useing the Microsoft MN-700 wireless basestation and wireless pci card and wondering if anyone has had any luck running like Linksys or Dlink wireless adapters with microsoft wireless access points or basestations?
I want to hook a PS2 to my network but its in a different part of the house. And only a few companys make wireless adapters for the consoles. I'm looking at the one made my Linksys from Compusa or Bestbuy. Any help would be great. Thanks

Answer:Running Microsoft wireless basestation with Linksys wireless adapter questions.

As long as they use the same standard you will be fine, the AP you have supports 802.11b and 802.11g so get an adapter that supports one of them.

Issue: Adapter detecting other surrounding wireless networks, but not mine

1. I create profile manually (Network and internet --> network and sharing center --> manage wireless networks), and it connects to my network no problem, although still not recognizing on the list of available networks. At this point the internet is working.

2. I unplug from USB port and switch it to a different one, internet stops working

3. I try re-making the profile manually as I did before to no avail, also tried switching back to previous USB port. No go.

4. Suggestions? Any help is much appreciated.

Hello friends!

I'm having a bit of trouble tonight trying to connect to my wireless router. Here are the specifics-

Router: Linksys Wireless B
OS: Windows 7
Wireless Adapter: Netgear Wireless G

I used the Netgear installation disc and ran the setup wizard. I was able to connect easily initially, and firefox opened to my google homepage. I tried a simple google search and it went offline. The taskbar icon shows "connections available" and when opened and prompted to connect to the found network, it was "unable to connect". I opened the Netgear set up wizard and it just keeps scanning the channels and never connects. Any suggestions??

Thanks!

Hello All,
Not sure if this should be in the Security or a different area.
I have a user where when ever he shuts his laptop lid for a couple minutes and opens it back up he gets locked out from the Company Wireless connection.
He is the only one who has this issue so I am unsure why this happens. The Wireless uses AD Authentication.
I even made it to prompt him for the password and everything when reconnecting.
This has not resolved the issue. I am about to the point to make the computer do nothing when he shuts the lid.

Does anyone have any clue why this would happen to one user? I currently have him set up on the Guest Network and using the VPN. Then when he uses a Ethernet cable he has no issues either. Everything points toward the one Wireless connection.

Any Ideas or thoughts?
Thanks,
Zach

Hi, I purchased this wireless card a while ago, and ever since I've had the same issue. Every now and again (couple minutes usually) my internet connection will drop for a second or two then resume working at full capacity. My system tray icon tells me I have full bars with a superb connection. I have a few other computers connected to this network, all using wireless built-in cards (they're laptops) and they play the same games and perform the same tasks at lightning fast speed with no "drops". I have attempted to use Linksys' live chat for support, but the person in charge of my problem was, to say the least, not understanding and just instructed me to reinstall the card. I have done that and the problem persists. Anyone have any suggestions or advice?

-Sam

In my home, my wireless router is downstairs and my adapter is upstairs. My computer has always been able to connect to the router, and my internet was never very stable but it worked. Now like 2 weeks ago my internet dropped, and i've had problems ever since? The other day i actually got it to connect to the internet, and i was on for a good 30 mins but since then it hasn't worked. I'm thinking my router isn't strong enough, because my mom has a wireless on her lab top and it works fine in my room.. so it's kind of confusing. But i'd like to make sure there's not something i can do to fix it before i go out and buy a new one.. Has anybody else had a problem like this?

I installed Win 7 64 bit version Beta today on a 40Gb hd I had. I did a format and clean install. Everything seemed to go well until I tried to connect to the internet. The only option it gives me is broadband and it seems to be dialing up. If I try to install the 4.1 driver it doesn't work so the adapter is not recognized by Win 7.
Any suggestions on how to get internet access? Maybe I should try the 32 bit version instead?

Answer:Win 7 & a linksys wireless adapter

What wireless card are you using, model number and version would be helpful.

I have a Linksys WMP54G ver3 card that Vista 64 and Win7 32 detect and use right off the bat. I didn't know for sure if it would work in Win7 until my friend borrowed it last night as the onboard NIC of the board he was using to test didn't work with 7. If Win7 has working drivers in the 32 bit version, I see no reason why it wouldn't have working drivers in the 64 bit version as well. I also have another WMP54G card but it's version 4.1. I have no clue if it works properly or not in Win7 and I don't feel like shutting down a couple machines to find out.

I recently purchased a wireless router and a wireless usb adapter to make a wirless network between 2 computers. The guy in the store told me I could mix and match as long as they were both compatible with 802.11 or something to that effect. Well the usb adapter is a linksys model # WUSB11-CA ver. 2.5 and the router is a hawking model # WR254S
I got the wireless router hooked up and the computer hard wired into it - computer 1 with the dsl modem - is accessing the internet so everything seems fine on that end. On computer # 2 there is no connection. Part of the problem could be the installation cd inluded with the linksys usb adapter? I run the installation program to install drivers, etc. and I get an error box that says: Unhandled Exception, Error Number: 0x80070725, Description: Incompatible version of the RPC Stub, Setup will now terminate. Before it was also saying w32n50.dll was missing but since I ran the firmware from the linksys website that has stopped.
If you have any ideas on how to solve this problem I would very much appreciate it.

Thanks, Trevor

I would totally remove the Linksys USB adapter from the system. Remove the driver.

Then plug straight into your router with that computer and download the drivers for the USB adapter direct from the Linksys website. Then try the whole shabang again.

After installing the driver for my Linksys wireless thing, sorry I don't know what to call it. Basically the antenna on the back of my computer that gives it wireless internet.

So anyways, it came with a program called "Linksys Wireless-G PCI Network Adapter with Speed Booster". And it always starts up and freezes whenever it starts. It's really annoying, im using the Windows Wireless program. But it still pops up whenever I start up my computer.

How do I get rid of it? Because when I try to uninstall it, it uninstalls the driver for my wireless.

Hello.

My network is made of Wireless Access Point Router with 4-Port Switch - Version 2 (BEFW11S4) and Wireless USB Adapter (WUSB11 ver.2.6) and ADSL Router.

I have installed Windows XP with SP1 and they are working properly. I have also installed all drivers for your Wireless USB Adapter. All in all my network is working with no problems but there is something I can not explain myself ie exactly every (one) minute the connection between Wireless USB Adapter and Wireless Access point stops for exactly 1 second(speed network connection falls to zero). Then again after this second - the connection speeds up to normal. And this is happening again and again every 1 minute like I said before. I have tested it many times.

Distance between Wireless USB Adapter and Wireless Access point is 20m and working with 11Mbps.

Can you help me fix it? Do you have an explanation for this?

Thanky you for your help.

Hi,

I've had a Linksys wireless adapter for a little less than a year now with no problems. Recently it has ceased to work. When I plug it in to any USB port, the light on the adapter does not blink like it normally does, and I can't search for networks. The adapter doesn't even show up in the device manager. I don't understand why the device would all of a sudden stop working.

Hey guys,

I recently installed Windows XP Home on my computer that was previously running 98SE. I'm using a Linksys Wireless-B PCI Card to connect wirelessly to my network. For months its worked fine, but now with XP, the card doesn't want to work. I can connect to the internet for maybe 5 minutes, then the connection breaks down. I've got a Wireless-G router, which is compatible with the Wireless-B card. I think that the problem may have something to do with Windows XP's built in wireless network program, but I'm still not sure. I'll try to boot my machine up on 98 today to see if that may be the problem.

Thanks again,
John

Answer:Linksys Wireless-B PCI Adapter Trouble

G'day Campbell685, these kinds of problems are nothing new to WXP, especially if you have loaded SP-2 over the top.
It often affects USB's as well, most especially on machines with AMD processors.
There are some notes on MS's boards about it but it appears the problem is due to drivers being affected somehow.
I have addressed some of these odd types of problems by using Johnwill's suggestion of slipstreaming WXP with SP-2 and finding things then worked again on at least one problem board..
The slipstreaming program mixes both the raw WXP and the SP-2 and you then make a new modified installation disk. You will need a burner and use a slow speed to ensure the burn is good.
A bit of a pain having to do it but it certainly does help with odd unexplainable problems.
The program I used was "Autostreamer" Google should find it, it is a freebee.
I placed the SP-2 on the hard drive and combined from there.
The destructions are simple and it is a worthy exercise.
Cheers, qldit.

The wireless adaptor is B-mode (802.11b).
Unless it has other capabilities, it will only connect to a WiFi router which supports and is configured to support B-Mode. Many routers will support multiple modes;

Alright I just built my gf a pc so she could play Aion. I always bring my laptop over there and we tend to look stuff up, and I can play Ragnarok Online or Guild wars fine on her internet. Whenever she tries to play either game it always disconnects no matter what. Now we got a Newegg.com - LINKSYS WMP300N IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g, Draft IEEE 802.11n 32-bit PCI Interface High-speed Wireless-N Wireless Adapter Up to 256-bit wireless encryption - Wireless Adapters for the adapter. I cannot think of anything else it could be beside the wireless adapter. When the pc was still at my house after I had finished it, it worked perfectly fine playing the Aion Beta event. We appreciate any help people could give. She payed a decent amount for this machine and if we can't even get it working then I'd feel terrible. I apologize if this is the wrong place to post such a thread but I don't know what else to do.

I used Control Panel, Network settings and found the wireless adapter and tcp/ip for the wireless adapter. Using Properties I found the adapter had the wrong ESSID name and channel.. Changed that, re-booted, and now could connect to Internet. Don't know why the setup wizard didn't change this! Went back and checked Properties for the wireless tcp/ip and noticed DNS was disabled. Should it be enabled and point to the router's IP address?

I have a Compaq Presario 2100 laptop here, running XP Home. I just installed the linksys wcf11 v.4 wireless-b adapter on the Compaq, with the latest drivers from the linksys site. I have a linksys wireless-g router with WPA-PSK, TKIP encryption on the traffic, already functional with an emachines laptop with a wireless-g card.

I can't configure the Compaq to connect to the network: there are no other encryption options than WEP. I tried downloading a bunch of windows updates, since the laptop owner hasn't kept up. The laptop is extremely slow so i didn't make sure i got ALL of them. Is there one in particular i should be looking for? Is it a problem with XP? With the Computer?

My question is: can this adapter (w/ this computer) support WPA? If so, how do i get the option to show up?

Also, what are the consequences of using a b computer on a g network?

Answer:WPA with linksys wcf11 v.4 wireless-b adapter

WPA is a new wireless security standard, and no, it is not compatible with WEP. Unless the card's mfg has released drivers that will allow the card to participate in a WPA wireless network, you would have to change the Access Point's configuration to use WEP, and the other laptop(s) to also use WEP. This isn't advised, but it is possible.

I'd suggest making the laptop's owner shell out for a G card that can participate in WPA.

As for a B card participating in a G network, the B card will obviously be slower when connecting/transfering data on the local network, it shouldn't have too much of an effect on the G equipment, but it is another device in a shared medium network, each additional device means less bandwidth available for all participants.

If the computers are just used to connect to the internet, The B card's performance should be nearly identical to the G equipment. The only caveat to that is since you mentioned that laptop was older and slower, it will be slower to process the incoming information, so it may give the appearance of being slower, but that's a function of the processor, not the network. Both B, and G are much faster than most consumer internet connections; it's the internet connection that is going to rule how fast the pages appear.

Hi Guys,I recently got a new netbook. (Samsung NC10) It runs with XP and has 160GB with 1GB of Ram. WI-FI & Bluetooth too.My original question was going to be HOW CAN I CONNECT TO UNSECURED WI-FI CONNECTIONS WHILE I AM OUT ON THE ROAD. (I always see the many available unsecured networks but never seem to connect to any of them.     Ok, so.....  Instead of bothering you guys, I googled my question and read about Wi-Fi Dongle Boosters. (Good to know there is such a thing)  Anyway, I also saw something called a USB Network Adapter and realized I had this in a bag under my desk. (It had belonged to my ex) It kinda looks like a mini version of my Linksys Wireless Router.  Here is the Link: http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/products/WUSB54GCan someone tell me what this is? Also, will it boost me signal to my netbook when I am out so I can pick-up those 'unsecured' connections?

My sisters house, my girlfriends house coffee shops sometimes at work no matter where I am I just see a list of available connections click and presto! Do you receive an error message? You may see someones router that has no internet hooked up to it?Weak signal?Do you have the internal settings set correctly. The 54G is an Adaptor which talks to the router and lets your laptop communicate through that router with the internet. My daughter had one years ago when I put the wireless in my house. You don't need that. Your laptop should be self sufficient. It "SOUNDS" like it should be a very simple fix.

I am a network newbie. I had my Linksys wireless adapter working fine on my W98 PC connecting to an SMC wireless router. I decided to change the routers default SSID name and enable MAC filtering so I hooked up my other PC via ethernet cable to the router and did so. Went to my W98 PC and changed the SSID name using the Linksys wireless LAN Monitor SW and after rebooting W98 I got connected. Did same on my other PC (XP) and it connected. Went back to W98 PC, updated my Norton NAV 4 virus files and updated to newest level of ZoneAlarm Free (both from Internet) and everything was fine. Returned to W98 PC later and couldn't connect to Internet but could connect to router. THe LAN Monitor was then showing two wireless adapters, both with excellent signal strength, but one had a blank SSID name and the other had the new SSID name and some unreadable appended characters. Being totally stumped I decided to uninstall the wireless adapter software, unplug the adapter, and re-install (Lan Monitor and adapter network sw) using the Linksys install CD. After installing SW, plugged in the adapter and the LAN monitor (WUS11B) errored with page fault!!! I need help!!
Thanks

I have a fresh install of XP sp2 running on an ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe board. The system runs stable unless I have my Linksys WUSB54G v4 connected and running. ..If it is connected Windows crashes and gives me the memory dump/blue screen error and reboots...it's at random times while the connection is active. I can't seem to find any info with this issue...Does anyone have any ideas...I'm not sure if it's motherboard drivers or what i could do to remedy this conflict.

I am not able to connect wireless to the internet. It has been working for years. Then several computers in the house stopped connecting and our xbox 360. After a few weeks the other computers and xbox started working. Our main computer kept internet connection, the one hooked up to the router, but all the wirelss stopped working. Now my wirelss desk top will not connect. I get the networking SSD to come up, but when I click to connect it pings then says not connected. I have re-entered the key several times, tried to set up the home networking again. Was wondering if I uninstall my linksys adapter program and re-install if this will help. Can anyone help me. I do not want to buy a new adapter if I don't need to. What is strange to me is, all the wireless computers stopped working at the same time and one by one the others started to reconnect. I really don't know if I messed things up by trying to run set up wizard several times. Thanks for your help.

Hi everyone,

I am having a very aggravating problem with my card. It gets very hot and causes my mouse and all to freeze. If I pull it out everything is fine and I can move my mouse again.

Note, I have disabled Speedbooster and that did not help. I also tried reducing the power in the advanced settings for the card but that didn't help either.

I am also having another problem. Occasionally after I have had to disconnect the card and reinsert it, my laptop detects new hardware and I have to reinstall again.
Oddly, it threw up a new version of the driver tonight--(OEM version)--I have Windows XP Professional SP2 so of course it wants me to install a signed driver, which I have tried all three, but with the same results.

Other times, I reinsert the card and I get a double beep instead of the single beep and it doesn't show up in my taskbar, so it doesn't connect.

If anyone out there knows how to resolve this please let me know. I am at wits end with this thing.

Thanks in advance,
Rosey

I have a cable modem connected directly to my computer. I was wondering if I could add a usb wireless adapter to the computer, and either set it as an access point, or share the internet across it? I have a laptop that has wireless built in and would like to access the internet wirelessly, without getting a router if possible.

Thanks for any info!

Answer:can a linksys usb wireless adapter be used as an access point?

Well if you can't put it into BSS mode, user level cards and such should support Ad-hoc mode... think of it as the wireless equivlent of using a crossover cable.
The first time I used wireless it was Ad-hoc mode between 2 laptops and it worked very well (I was happy to because I just came in and did it and everyone else in the class I was toutoring had to do it as in assimeng and it took them all day)

Tryin to connect to the internet using above adapter on Windows XP Pro OS. When i use the Linksys network monitor it reports connected to access point but internet cannot be found

ipconfig/all sees the adapter

Linksys network monitor status reports all the settings - ip address - subnet mask - default gateway - except there is nothing under DNS - dhcp is enabled - MAC address

I have tried installing uninstalling the drivers, i've spent the whole day doing everything i can think of.

When i connected via a wired connection everything worked fine. Even when i uplugged the ethernet cable the wireless adapter was able to stay online but as soon as i rebooted it was back to connected to access point but internet cannot be found

I am not using any security on my Belkin Router as I read in an earlier post that the adapter could have problems with WPA security.

Any help would be much appreciated :confused

OK. I believed the hype, waited to buy a new computer until 7 came out. Been doing this since before there even WAS Windows, and it does it to me every time. Everything was supposed to work that worked with Vista, which was supposed to run everything that ran on XP, etc. - I got the computer, a Compaq desktop, got a Linksys wireless adapter to go with it. Wouldn't install. Wouldn't even recognize the dang thing was plugged in. Called Linksys, talked to some woman in Indonesia who told me there was no driver for W7 yet. Went back to BestBuy where I got the adapter, thinking they could help. Seems their geeks aren't any geekier than I am. Got a refund, bought a Belkin G family. At least the computer recognized that the Belkin is plugged in, and it knows there is a signal, but it refuses to connect. That's weird. Good signal, knows it is a Motorola adapter, but will NOT connect! Re-installed it in compatibility mode. It just laughs at me. Seriously, can I go back to DOS? Barring that, is there anything else I can do besides wait for an adapter to ship with a driver that works on 7?

Answer:Driver for Linksys and Belkin Wireless Adapter?

I was having issues also with Belkin's crap on my wife's pc. I could get it to work if I had the pc wired to ethernet and then installed the software. It would fail to load and then pop up a window asking to run with recommended settings. It wouldn't do this if the ethernet was unplugged. It would run in compatability mode XP and then it would work. As soon as the pc booted and I connected to a wireless network it would BSOD me within a minute or two like clockwork. I finally found a wireless adapter that does work with W7 and it works like a charm.

Hi, I'm trying to get my WGA54G to work with my wireless network. I have a WRT54G router, and a few other wireless adapters throughout the house. I updated the firmware on the game adapter to the xbox live certified 1.10 firmware, and I tried it out on a PC ahead of time, and works perfectly. However, once I hook it up to the xbox 360, it doesn't give an IP address, and the connection tests fail. The xbox recognizes that it is a wireless bridge, but that is about it. Does anyone know any setting I should change on either the xbox or the WGA54G? Thanks.

hi, my first post here hope im doing things right.

i just bought a new Linksys Wireless - G Broadband Router and
a Linksys Wireless - G PCI adapter, and im having some problems but lets start by telling u what i am using it for.

i have a pc out in our basement that that has a SB4100 cable modem (Motorola Surfboard) and id like to get the same highspeed in my room which just has dial up so i went out and bought some Liksys products and i followed the tut's that werent difficult, so now i have the router conencted to my cable modem so the internet on the pc in my basement works, and i have the adapter hooked up to my pc in my room. they connected fine and the adapter connected with the router fine as well, they say they have a very good to excellent connection but the problem is when i try to get the pc in my room to something online it tells me that "this cannont be displayed offline."

in the bottom right where it shows my internet connection theres 2 different connection symbols one that shows the Linksys wireless adapter and one that shows my old dial up connection the dial up connection shows as off line and when u put the mouse over it it says it has been disconnected, but the linksys wireless connection symbol says online with a great conenction.

i tried taking the old dial up card out but that didnt do anything (i didnt expect it too) and the same thing came up again.

so the problem is it says im connected to my main modem in the other ... Read more

Answer:Linksys wireless-G pci adapter with G broadband router

do this.

Start>run>cmd hit enter
type "ipconfig /all" without the quotes.. hit enter

look for line that says IP address .. it should read 192.168.1.x where x is random number generated by routers dhcp..

also look for the following Default gateway. should be 192.168.1.1 (if you didn't change the routers default ip address)

also look for DNS Servers.. you should have atleast 1 most times 2 listed here.. they will be assigned by your cable provider.

if you do not see something close to the above your router is not allowing wireless internet access.... i have seen this before. you will have to login to the admin console of the router. typically http://192.168.1.1 from a internet explorer window.

then click on the security tab, then go to wireless, and enable wireless internet access.(location may not be exact depending on model of your wireless linksys router)

Hi there,
just installed Windows 7 64 Professional sucessfully (msdn).
I tried hard but didn't get my W-Lan Adapter running. I read several instructions about installing different drivers etc. but the only thing I get is a "code 10" error...

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Answer:Linksys Compact Wireless USB Adapter G (wusb54gsc)

Hi trop

Code 10

If the device has a FailReasonString value in its hardware key, that string is displayed as the error message. The driver or enumerator puts this registry string value there. If there is no FailReasonString in the hardware key, you receive the following error message:

Code:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Recommended resolutions

Here are some things that you can try to resolve this problem.

Update the driver

In the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the instructions to update the driver.

You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in, or may still have the driver files installed from the last time that you set up the device. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor’s Web site.

I have an Dell Dimension 8200 running XP SP3. I'm trying to set up a wireless network. I had Linksys tech support configure the AE3000 wireless adapter and it says it's working properly in Device manager. The blue light is on the adapter and it blinks every 9 seconds. There are no yellow exclamation points either. Yet the adapter is not connecting.

Cablevision is my ISP. They sent me a Sagemcom smart router and I believe I have set up properly. However, when I remove the ethernet cable from the computer, the wireless network can't be found and I lose my Internet connection. When I go to Control Panel>network connections and to Lan & high speed Internet and to local area connection 3, my Linksys adapter is shown as not connected.

I had to call Lynksys support because I could not get the adapter to work with the CD and the technician was able to load the drivers off their site to get it to work. I find it pretty sad that they package the wrong drivers on their CD but that's another story. So, at this point, the adapter is shown to be working properly in Device Manager but I can't connect to the Internet.

The tech support guy at Cablevision said that he thought the problem was that the adapter was configured before a network was in place for it to see and somehow I have to configure the adapter to see my network. I have no idea how to do that so I was hoping someone could advise me.

I'm trying to connect my down stairs desktop computer to the Internet with a wireless linksys adapter. I insert the cd and then it tells metro plug in the adapter. It detects the adapter and finds the networks. I enter the wireless password. The wireless network connects of windows connects successfully. But the linksys doesn't connect successfully. It says can't connect to the wireless network. The error description is invalid key manual. When I try to open a browser it says Internet explorer cannot display the page. When I click diagnose the connection problem. It says that there is a problem with winsock. It makes a few fixes and I restart it but have the same problem all over again.

The problem is with this desktop computer. Because my laptop and iPad can connect but not the desktop. With the net gear adapter I use to have. The wireless network would connect successfully. But I couldn't open a browser successfully. So I would disconnect then re connect and it would work. This has not worked with the linksys.

Have a Linksys Wireless Notebook Adapter, WPC54g V3, that will not show up as 'Active' in the wireless adapter Monitor....[i.e. is dead]. Over the past week I have tried many times to remove the software, boot it, download new software, boot it; all with no success! Have removed the card, reinstalled the card, many times again with no success. The software is directly from Linksys, is Linksys WPC54g_driver_utility_V3 (1) (1) .1 and is driver version 3.100.64.0. Am using a Compaq Armada 1700 Laptop with Windows 'ME'.

An ironic twist to my problem is the fact that the Adapter Card worked fine from last Aug. up until Feb. 4,2007; in Feb. and March I was away and had to setup using a Dial-Up Network link, at that time I had to remove the Linksys Wireless Adapter driver/software as it created a conflict with the dial-up link, when the Linksys Driver was removed it then was possible to use the dial-up for the 2 months.

After eliminating the dial-up link is when the problem attempting to restore the Linksys Software began; I have used the same driver file that was used initially last summer with no success; have also downloaded directly from Linksys the identical software/driver as the original and also tried a later driver 4 (1).100.15.5; again no luck getting the adapter to go 'Active'. .......Any assistance out there is appreciated: Doug.

Hello,

I have a PII, Win98se, 128 MB RAM machine where until yesterday a Linksys PCI adapter (WMP54G) was working perfectly. For some stupid reason I decided to try to get my 2 PCs (the other one is almost identical) to network. Somehow, the wireless card stopped working. So, I have contacted Linksys support 6 times and reinstalled the software/adpater about 20 times. No luck. As of now the main problem is that when I click on the WLAN monitor, I get an "WMP54G causd in invalid page fault in module <unknown> etc.". If I don't close the error window but rather look at the setting for the IP address etc. on the WLAN, everything looks good. I feel that the adpater should work if someone can just figure out the invalid page fault. My adapter is version 2 and I installed the drivers/monitor directly from the CD. As I said, it was working perfectly for many months until last night.
Thanks for any help,
Jordan Krim

Obviously it's for my laptop. I was wondering if it would work if I was using Linux? I currently have Windows XP on there, but want to switch to Linux. On the "Minimum Requirements" side of the box, it says I need Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP. But it doesn't say Linux on there. Will it work with Linux or not? Thanks.

Answer:Will My Linksys Wireless Adapter Work With Linux??

You'll have to do you own research! Speaking from presonal experience it's a bit of a struggle; wifi is still sparsely covered in Linux. After considerable effort I finally got a Wifi USB dongle working with RH/FC4 (finding and installing the drivers, building from source, etc). Take a look through http://www.linuxquestions.org/: you'll find an excellent hardware compatibilty list (HCL menu item on the main page) - hopefully you'll find your device has already got some entries listed.

I'm sorry if this isn't the correct place for this post, please let me know if it's not so I can post under a different subject.

My father has a Windows XP and a Verizon Fios router and a Linksys Wireless Adapter. Sometimes the adapter works and sometimes it doesn't and he is at his wits end. It's hard for me to help him since I only have an iMac.. so my question is: what the heck is going on?!

He says that the icon says he has excellent strength but the webpages won't load, as they say he is not connected to the internet. He tried re-booting the computer and now it doesn't even say the adapter is connected. When he tries the "repair" it says it cannot be repaired because it cannot be disabled. The computer that is connected to the Verizon is working fine, along with the internet.

For reference: I live an hour away from him and have to do this over the phone with him. But, he does know how to work the computer so this is good.

I Have a Tp-Link TL-WN822N wireless adapter that randomly disconnects from the internet even though the internet in the house is still on. usually to fix it, i unplug the adapter then replug it and it'll reconnect to the internet. Im not sure how to fix it, i have tried a lot of different methods that i have read up on the internet. Reinstalling drivers, getting new ones off the internet. Turning off settings in the power options to stop my pc from turning my usb devices off to save power (and all the similar options). Using different usb ports and even replacing the adapter for another exact model and yet the problem still persists. after replugging the device ince it has completely shut off the internet access to my computer, it will crash my pc bringing up a blue screen telling me that my pc is being restarted.

I've been using a Belkin wireless adapter (model G+ F5D7051) for about a year now; for half that year i've been experiencing BSODs as the shutdown process comes to a close, which means the computer decides to restart itself for the sole purpose of telling me i've crashed.

Recently, this has gotten even worse: i'll (rarely) receive a BSOD during normal computer use, with the same error as always.

The error that appears is "irql_not_less_or_equal" and "usbport.sys". All i can tell is that it's a USB issue (at least i think it is), and since my only other USB device is a wireless mouse, i'm quite certain it's the wireless adapter causing this issue.
Another indicator is that the device commonly decides not to work until i've unplugged and plugged it back in an arbitrary number of times.

I've tried a number of fixes:

Enabling Driver Verifier (detailed on this site's sister forums at Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable - Windows 7 Forums), only i didn't notice any crashes in places it wouldn't normally crash, and Driver Verifier didn't really have any output report to save, so it's simply been disabled without having done much good

Reinstalling the drivers, using both the drivers that came with the disc, and those provided on the official website

Uninstalling old USB devices on my system (with DriveCleanup.exe, for example)
Nothing seems to have worked.
I've attached my .dmp crash report and the files from the SF Diagnostic Tool's reports.

I need a new wirless adapter that will work well with windows 7 64 bit. I currently have an AbitAirpace which wont function correctly and ultimatley cause bluescreens once drivers are installed. Some people have fixed this by installing atheros drivers but this doesn't work for me. I also have a usb adapter(Belkin FD 7050) which causes similar problems and again I have read other about others experiencing issues.

Answer:Wireless adapter causing BSOD

DLink and Linksys make nice internal PCI adapters.
I DO NOT recommend the USB adapters as we see too many problems with them.

I just bought a Netgear n300 wireless USB adapter WNA3100

so far i have gotten the BSOD 2 times in the past 1 hr of installing it. I'm running Windows XP sp3 and i was going to post the minidump but low and behold there is not a minidump folder. i looked under the settings startup and recovery and all is checked but auto restart. and its set on complete memory dump %SystemRoot%\MEMORY.DMP but i cant find that file on my computer at all. now i can make the BSOD happen when ever i want by just trying to download a large file. also when i run a Ethernet cable i do not have this problem. i even tried uninstalling the Ethernet card in case they were clashing but still got the same thing

Statement: "Is there a way to hook the printer to a wireless adapter and therefore get it on the network?"

Canon MultipassF80. Linksys Wireless Router

The story so far....

Although this says "laptop computing" its actually a printer problem!

Have a Canon Multipass F80 - which is located too far from the CPU (see why a laptop would be nice?)

Can not buy a wired solution - its greater than 30 feet.

Can not move the printer (my client says it does not look good near her computer in the new layout of the office).

Would like to get the printer onto the network - It has a usb-b connection but no wireless card.

Called Canon - they said "no way" and proceeded to try and upsell a new printer. (Big surprise).

Did they give me correct info?

Or is there a way to hook the printer to a wireless adapter and therefore get it on the network?

Answer:Canon f80 printer > to a wireless adapter > to linksys router

There are routers out there that can be used as "printer server".
Here is a link for Linksys product. But there are other brands too.
Search for printer server routers.
Canon's got nothing to do with this.

Does anyone have one of these? It's a network appliance that hooks up to your home theater and allows you to play music and/or view pictures via a network connection. I bought one and it's total crap. The problem is the software that must run on the host computer. When it tries to catalog my music, it freaks out and hangs the software. I originally set it up on my Windows 2003 Server. I also tried it from an XP Pro box. Same crap. I thought maybe my collection was too big (160gb) and copied about 10gb to a folder on the XP box running the agent. No go. Linksys is USELESS! I spoke to 3 techs from their helpdesk and nobody could help me. The firmware and software version for this device are a year old and Linksys has released a new 802.11g model. So I'm guessing they are giving up on this POS. I spent $200 on this sucker as a XMAS gift to myself, and have yet to have it work properly. If anyone knows of any tricks or tweaks, I'm listening.

Hi. I've been working with my ISP to get my broadband speed up, which has been successful. When i connect via ethernet cable to my router i get download speed test results around 12Mbps, but when i use the wireless connection i only get 5Mbps. As far as i can tell, i have the most recent drivers (from the dell and intel websites) so i don't know what else to try. I don't know whether it matters but i'm using windows to manage the wireless conncetion rather than the intel software, mainly because i couldn't establish any connection at all when i originally set the network up using the intel software.I'm no expert, so would really value any advice you may be able to offer.Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Answer:bg2200 wireless adapter and linksys WAG354G router

If you go into the Network Connections folder ("Start > Run", type NCPA.CPL and click OK) and then double click the Wireless Network Connection, what speed is shown? This isn't your internet speed it is the speed at which the adapter is connecting 'wirelessly' with the router. As you're running an 802.11g router it should show 54Mbps.

I really think the wmp54gv41x86 is giving me trouble, I have the latest driver for it from the site, but it's giving me lag spikes when playing games, ect. And BSODs randomly. I heard about the Ralink option, but the only drivers I could find were for 64 bit, but I'm running 32 bit, and the ralink site, had this installed, but I ran it, and nothing happened, and I tried manually installing w/e was in the ralink thing, but nothing was there, and nothing new was in system 32, so....anyone know how to get the 32-bit ralink drivers that work with wmp54g v4.1? On windows 7 ultimate 32 bit?

I've got a Netgear wireless router which is running fine with one computer (i.e. the internet cable comes from the wall - modem - wireless router - computer) and the internet works ok.I've got a USB Network adapter for the other computer which has been installed and recognizes the connection with the netgear router (i.e. there is a connection shown in the system tray). The problem is it won't connect to the internet, when i try to repair the connection it says there is a problem renewing the IP address.I am using NTL broadband, and the internet is working fine through the netgear router on the first computer but not on the second.Anyone suggestions much appreciatedcheers

Answer:Wireless problems - Netgear router/Linksys adapter

In Network Connections from Control Panel right click your WiFi connection and select properties. Scroll down to TCP/IP and select it then Properties again. Make sure that both the settings are set to "Obtain Automatically"The I would turn off all computers and switch off the router. After 5 minutes reboot the router and when all the confirmation lights are on reboot each computer in turn and connect to the internet.

The model # for it is WUSB54GC and my internet connection keeps dropping. It stays on for a few hours but after that it goes and on and off. What I usually do is unplug it and plug it back and that works but having to repeat that process is really frustrating.

One thing that I have noticed is that it gets warm from long periods of use. However it should be able to withstand that.

I don't know if I should buy an actual wireless card maybe it's better.

I have cable internet connected to a Netgear WGR614v5 wireless router. On my laptop (W98se), I have a Linksys wireless USB Network Adapter (802.11b) plugged into a USB port. This device has worked fine for a year or so, and can pick up the neighbour's internet. But although it finds the Netgear's signal - it will not connect to the internet with it. The internet connection is fine though - as confirmed by the computer hard wired to the Netgear router. PLEASE don't tell me that the Netgear router and Linksys adapter are incompatible!

For quite some time my linksys wireless g notebook adapter hasn't been connecting to the Internet at all.
I go to my Internet options and my house's Internet router doesn't show up.
I remember a long time ago I was clearing space on my computer because its and old one and it runs slow
Because I don't have much memory and I might have accidently deleted the linksis progam / installation.
And I have no way of re-intalling it. I think the only way of re-installing it is using the linkage disc but I
lost it in some boxes packed in storage. Any ideas? I realy could use the help.

My dad bought me a Linksys Wireless-G PCI adapter card (WMP54G) for my desktop computer and installed it into the tower for me. We bought it online and it didn't come with a CD, but I wasn't too concerned since I was just banking on the fact that Windows could find it for me. Using a wireless connection from a Netgear USB wireless adapter I had Windows Vista update the driver. When I removed the Netgear USB adapter, my internet connection obviously went away, but my Linksys PCI adapter didn't pick up any wireless signals. So no network connection in general. I figured I would tackle the problem later and went ahead and upgraded my OS to Windows 7 Ultimate x32 using an internet connection from my USB wireless adapter. After Windows 7 was installed and and all the drivers were updated I tried to see if the PCI adapter worked then but it was still not receiving any signals. I tried uninstalling and re-installing a couple of times now but no change.
From the Device manager the PCI adapter shows up each time and it says the drivers are up to date and that the device is working. I don't know what's causing the problem. The green light by the antenna of the PCI adapter is never on. Can someone help me get on the internet with my device?

Here's the product I'm having issues with.
Linksys by Cisco Wireless-G PCI Adapter WMP54G
I'll be happy to provide other information if it'll help.

Answer:Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter not receiving any signals/not working

Your going to have to run the Vista 32bit driver, as there is no Windows 7 driver.

There is a quick installation guide there as well.

First, I'm running a dell dimension 4400 with XP Pro 2002 Service Pack 3.

I.. uh... didn't follow the Linksys instructions and install the driver before I installed the hardware. I took the hardware out and have been trying to install the drivers but the installation hangs at 30%. I tried putting the hardware back in but XP doesn't bring up the "install hardware" window, so I really don't know what to do. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!
