[Dell touchpad] one finger scrolling feature missing on Windows 8 doesn't work

Question: [Dell touchpad] one finger scrolling feature missing on Windows 8 doesn't work

The previous driver allowed for edge scrolling but latest version does not have the capability.I understand for those upgrading to Windows 8 with touch screen capability this is not an issue but what about us who do not have touch screen. In my opinion this is a major flaw. Please let me hear form you if you too are unhappy about the new Windows 8 Touch pad driver. By the way, I tried rolling the driver back but the previous driver causes serious erratic behavior. Below is a screen shot of the version for the newest Windows 8 Touch Pad driver.

This problem appears on Windows 8.1

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: [Dell touchpad] one finger scrolling feature missing on Windows 8 doesn't work

Try this:
1) Go into c:\program files\DellTPad\
2) In this dir I have
a) DellTouchpad.exe: this is the app called from control panel whose picture you posted.
b) DellTPad.exe alternate utility to set touchpad setting. When launching this I have this option (translating into english) "one finger actions/multi-finger actions", and then it allows you to set single finger vertical/horizontal scrolling.

I have an X1 Carbon that I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. All the drivers were properly updated as part of the upgrade and most everything is working nicely, except that two-finger scrolling doesn't work in the Metro apps (Edge, PC Settings, etc.). Two-finger scrolling works perfectly everywhere else, just not in the Metro apps. Both Windows Update and Lenovo System Update report that everything is up-to-date. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Synaptics drivers but it didn't help. I'm running version 19.0.17.27 of the Synaptics pointing device driver. Anyone have any ideas?

Answer:Two-finger scrolling doesn't work in Windows 10 for metro apps

Bump.

Another interesting data point is that my work computer (a Lenovo T440p) is also running the same version of the Synaptics driver (19.0.17.27) and two-scrolling works fine everywhere, so the problem seems to be model-specific.

I recently got a new laptop with Windows 8 and upgraded to Windows 8.1.

I absolutely love the two finger scroll feature. It's very convenient in web browsers and the start menu. However, it doesn't always work, and I can't find a trend for when it works. It simply works sometimes and not others.

Where can I configure the settings so that I always have two finger scroll?

Answer:Two finger scrolling doesn't always work

Thru playing around I found that 2 finger scroll won't work if one finger starts off of the edge of the pad. Make sure that both fingers plant on the pad itself when starting a scroll. I operate my pad with my left hand and I had a lot of trouble accidentally hitting the left edge when I first got win 8. I long ago disabled whatever the left edge swipe was. The same might be true for the right edge for right-handers.

Currently 2 finger scroll is reliable for me. I guess it could also be a driver issue with your particular pad.

Ok i have a Satellite L45 notebook and i need help.
The scrolling feature on the touchpad worked for awhile and now it won't work.

I've looked all through the computer and tried everything and nothing seems to work.
I don't really know too much about computers to begin with and no one else i know can help me.

My dad had the same problem with his computer but he said it seemed to work itself out.
Mine still hasn't and it's driving me insane.

If anyone could help it'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much.

Answer:Satellite L45: touchpad scrolling feature does not work

Hi

Did you check if the touchpad scroll function has been enabled and configured properly?
Before you would reinstall the touchpad driver I recommend checking these settings.

Do you know where to find these settings?
You can find it in

+Control panel -> mouse -> last tab (device settings) -> Settings button+

Here you should check the *Virtual Scrolling*

Answer:Touchpad scrolling doesn't work after Windows 10 upgrade

I don’t know what notebook model you have but fact is that not all notebook series are supported for Win 10 upgrade.
In such case the Win 10 drivers will not be released for such unit….

The touchpad scrolling requires additional touchpad driver…
If your unit supports Synaptics touchpad, you could also use the driver from Synaptics driver page:
http://www.synaptics.com/en/drivers.php

But currently driver for Win 10 isn’t available… you could try to install and use the Win 8.1 driver but I’m not quite sure if it will work properly….

Hello there,

I have a Qosmio F20 and only had it for less than a year, I have always used the touch pad and the quick launch feature, never changed anything in the touch pad settings nor any major changes in the operating system, i have a problem now!

the touch pads scrolling feature dosen't work any more, you know how the right side is to scroll up/down and the bottom for scrolling left/right, now it dosen't work.... my brother used my computer and he installed a bluetooth program, infrared driver, he used a USB mouse and installed Nokia PC suite.
NOW what do i do? HEEELP!!!!!!

Thanks.

Answer:Qosmio F20: Touchpad scrolling feature dosen't work any more

Hi

You brother has installed a lot of applications and also a USB mouse.
Who knows what he has changed on your notebook.

If the touchpad scrolling function does not work so I assume the settings were changed.
In your case I would recommend checking the touchpad settings.
You should find it under the mouse settings in the control panel.

As far as I know you can find these settings in the Toshiba touch and launch.

I updated my computer about 1/2 weeks ago and the 2 touch scroll feature doesn't work. I went to advanced touchpad settings to see if I could fix it there but the results were that it is on. I went to check if maybe I did it wrong and sure enough it still
didn't work at all. Can you please either give me a step by step guide on fixing this or a link to a bit of software that fixes this?
And yes the touchpad is up to date, the system won't even let me click it.

Hi,
I have the brand new Dell XPS 13 9350 with Windows 10. When I use the touchpad with two fingers to scroll down on websites the content "jumps" back up some lines. This happens when lifting the fingers from the touchpad.
It occurs in Chrome and Edge and is pretty annoying because I'm losing focus on the page I'm reading everytime I use two finger scrolling.
Any idea how this can be fixed? I found no driver for touchpad on Dells support page for the XPS 13 and I'm not sure if I should use Synaptic drivers ...
Thanks in advanceFrank

Answer:Dell XPS 13 9350 touchpad two finger scrolling "jumps"

I can also confirm problems with my brand new XPS13 which i received today. For me the touchpad is, let's say, unresponsive.
If i start scrolling up or down with two fingers it needs 1-2 seconds of scrolling before it starts scrolling on the screen. This is VERY annoying!
I mean the scrolling on my 7 year old Sony Vaio was better than this....
How to fix it?! The problem appears in every program

I just upgraded my Yoga 2 Pro to windows 10 and my touchpad was acting crazy--for example, I could only get a window to scroll when it was out of focus.  I tried reinstalling my touchpad drivers, and it took about 5 attempts to get it working at a basic functionality.  However, this process caused an egregious change to basic scrolling behavior.  When I used to scroll with two fingers, I could stop scrolling by lifting one finger, and my mouse would return to being a cursor.  Now, when I lift one finger, it continues to scroll, and it will only stop scrolling once I lift the second finger.  So if I'm moving my cursor around, and I drop a finger down for just a brief moment, I won't stop scrolling until I completely remove my hand from the touchpad. I tried reinstalling the driver, I tried installing the Lenovo Windows 10 touchpad driver, (64-bit)

Hello, as the title states, I am having issues with my two finger scrolling with my touchpad. My computer is a new alienware 15, and I am currently running windows 8.1. I do have two finger scrolling enabled, and it works, it just acts weirdly and I would like help understanding what is going on.
This first and primary issue, is that while scrolling up or down a page, I will randomly jump way down the page or way up the page. I am not able to reproduce this issue consistently, so I haven't been able to properly measure it, it just occurs randomly while browsing. I believe it always jumps down while scrolling down and vise versa, but I'm not sure. And I believe the distance of the jump is about equal to page up or page down, but that might just be wishful thinking. I have no idea what is causing this, I have completely disabled tapping, so it shouldn't be zone tapping for page up and page down, but I don't know what else it could be.
The next thing isn't really an issue, but more something I'd like to understand the significance of. When I start the two finger scrolling gesture, a little box appears (seemingly in a random location) and shrinks away almost instantly. It seems to have nothing to do with where my mouse is, nor where my fingers are on the trackpad, so I really don't understand what it's communicating to me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Issues with two finger scrolling on the alienware 15 synaptic touchpad running windows 8.1

I had the exact same problem, very annoying, I have Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, but the touchpad is Synaptics as well. So after a lot of searching on this issue, there was one possible solution: Remove the manufacturer driver, and install drivers from synaptics website. www.synaptics.com/.../drivers.php
If you cannot install the driver from synaptics website, (mine failed the first try), then you have to follow these steps:
1. After uninstalling the manufacturer synaptics driver, go to the lower right side of the screen, and click settings -- > power --> hold Shift key and press Restart.
2. A blue screen will appear with options. Choose Troubleshoot --> Advanced Options --> Startup Settings --> Click Restart.
3. After that, your computer restarts, shows u a numbered menu, choose number 7, which will turn off driver signatures.
4. When you are back in windows, download and install the driver from the synaptics website and install.

Hope it works, it worked for me.

Hello,

I recently bought a Lenovo Y700 running W10. I am trying to get it set up the way I like and cannot find an option to use one-finger scrolling with my touchpad (two-finger scrolling is an option and works just fine).

I am updated to driver 19.0.19.1, but for some reason when I go to Mouse Properties it lists the driver version as 19.0.17.26. I'm not sure if this is related. Here are some screen caps of the driver discrepancy as well as the UI for the mouse, which has no option for one-finger scrolling. How do I enable this?

Thanks for any advice you can give me!

Answer:Synaptics touchpad V1.2 - no option for one-finger scrolling?

I'm thinking that's on purpose. If you did that, how would you then move the cursor on screen? Single finger is cursor movement, two finger is scroll. It's a touch pad not a touch screen.

I like to scroll in the direction the text is hidden. For example, if I want to scroll DOWN, I swipe DOWN on the touchpad. This works fine in webpages, open windows, documents, etc. However, in the Start Menu or any other Settings menu in Windows 10, the scrolling is reversed. If I swipe DOWN, the screen goes in the opposite way of what I expect. This is only happening in the Windows Menu and Setting Menus.  I had synaptics driver have the inverted scrolling off.  How do I make it so that the scrolling direction is uniform EVERYWHERE?

I have a ThinkPad Yoga S1 with a clean and up-to-date installation of Windows 10 Pro. Synaptics driver version 19.0.17.27 is installed.Two-finger touchpad scrolling rarely works in several UWP/Metro apps such as Calendar and Groove Music. When I attempt to scroll, a little crosshair appears on the screen and moves up and down instead of moving the page. Every once in a while it actually does scroll, but only at random and immediatey stops working again.Strangely enough, if the UWP window is in the background behind another window and isn't currently in focus, two-finger scrolling works fine. Non-UWP/Metro applications do not seem to be affected by this problem.Any help would be greatly appreciated.-gyokuroEDIT: I found a temporary workaround right after I posted this that doesn't fix the issue, but at least makes it less of an annoyance until this is fixed. If you click on the taskbar and then try to scroll in a UWP app, it works fine, and the tiny crosshair doesn't appear either.

Recently I created a new user account (not under Family Group) after the Windows 10 update. In this new account, the touchpad no longer gets to the top or bottom of webpage with two finger flick, unlike my old account. The scrolling distance is small and only gets me up a quarter or half a page. The only way I can circumvent this is to have maximum inertia - even with this setting, it usually gets me across 80% of a long webpage but not to the top/bottom of the page.I have the same issue in Microsoft Word (haven't tried other programs besides PDF - which has a pathetic scrolling distance in both accounts). Also in this new user account, the three-finger flick serves a similar function as alt + tab, whereas in the older account, the three-finger flick works as a backward/forward function in Google Chrome, which I much prefer. I have searched mouse properties and compared the settings with my older user account (created before Windows 10) and the settings are identical!! I can't seem to find what the issue is. Any help appreciated!!

So i just recivece my new u430, and overall i'm pretty happy. I have a few issues with the touchpad though. There's no way of deactivating the fact that it keeps scrolling when my fingers reach the bottom or top of the touchpad. This is annoying, as i can't see when it will start scrolling automatically, it just suddenly starts. Another thing is that when i start scrolling with two fingers, and then lift a finger to navigate the mouse instead, it keeps scrolling until i lift both fingers off the trackpad, and then i can start to navigate. This feels very unneccessary, and it didn't do this on my old Asus computer.  Is there a general workaround for the sloppy driver, or do i have to live with these "features"? Best regards,Andreas

Is there any way to invert the two-finger scrolling on the touchpad?  The default behaviour is for a gesture downwards to scroll the screen up, and a gesture upwards to scroll the screen down - probably taken from OSX and easily the worst and most frustrating "feature" of my new laptop at work.  There is no option to reverse this in the touchpad settings.

Alright. So since I've bought this computer I've had problems with the two-finger scrolling suddenly stopping, like many people have. That's always been fixable by going into properties, device settings, settings, unchecking/rechecking one of the boxes under "two finger scrolling" and hitting OK. Now, though, my touchpad is suddenly stuck on one finger scrolling, and it's super annoying. There is no "one finger scrolling" option under the "scrolling" drop down thingy under device settings, so I haven't a clue why this is happening. I've tried the usual fix above, restarting the computer, installing new drivers, but it still does one finger scrolling. Which means it scrolls a lot of the time when I don't want it to, and the pointer seems to get "stuck" at times when I'm just trying to move it around. This is extremely frustrating - any help would be great!

Answer:n5010 laptop touchpad not working correctly - no 'one finger' scrolling function

Hi PUFFIN88,
Have you performed a clean install of Windows 7 or have just rolled back the OS from Win10 to Win7? Is the touchpad detected in device manager? Is there any damage on the system? Do the touchpad button register a click?
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/28WKQHB- restart the system and check if it works fine.  Reinstall the touchpad drivers from the same site and check.
If the touchpad is not detected in device manager- then download the service manual from the support site link above - and reseat the palmrest cables and check if it works.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.
Write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Is anyone else expeiencing problems with their touchpad?I am finding the dual finger scrolling functionality on the touchpad problematic.it seems to work only intermittently, basically gets stuck or doesn't work at all sometimes.sometimes when it doesnt work, if I use the scrolling function with the with the track pointand then return to using it with dual fingure on the touchpad, it sudenly works again.I ask because I had an incredibly frustrating call with tech support today and they say there is nothing they can do,even though i purchaced the extra 4 year on site warrantee, they refuse to send an engeneer out as when doing remotetesting, everything appears to be fine on their end, even though for me its not fine. The say they can only send out an engeneer if they can see a pysical fault on their end.so I'm wondering if its a fault with the W520 or the thinkpad trackpad technology in general?Ive updated the drivers, and set sensitivity to most sensitive and fiddled around loads, with no success.ive even re-imaged the machine (yes)its very amoying concidering the price of these machines.thanksadam

Hi,     Earlier right click was not working properly on my lenov y50-70 laptop. Most of the time, I have to press right click button with more . But all feature(circular zoom, virtual scrolling, gesture, swap) of elan smartpad touchpad were working properly previously. After replacement of touchpad by lenovo, even none of the above said feature is availabe in ELAN driver software. Does this mean those feature is not supported by new touchpad?

Answer:Touchpad scrolling, gesture, circular feature lost...

I have the same problem.  They replaced my touchpad and now none of the gestures work and i have to drag my finger across the touchpad several times to get from one side of the screen to the other, whereas you should be able to do it in one swipe.  Huge QA problems with this device and I'm getting very frustrated they didnt check to make sure that it all worked when they sent it back to me.  Please Lenovo FIX THE TOUCHPAD ISSUES!  WE need gestures and correct movement, changing the sensitivity does not fix this problem, Im assuming you need to update the drivers and correct this issue or the touchpad is bad again.  Afterall, the last release for this driver was August of 2014.  New drivers are overdue Lenovo. PLEASE FIX THIS!

When scrolling with the index finger on my right hand I will regularly hover over and lightly touch the left button with my left index finger in anticipation of the link/button/text box etc that I am about to click on. I have always done this an never encoutered any issues on the numerous laptops I have owned and used in the past). When I do this on my newly axquired Lenovo Yoga 900 it causes the mouse pointer to lag momentarily. I have updated drivers (v19.0.17.57), I have turned off ALL Multi-Finger options (2-finger, 3-finger and 4-finger) and reduced Palm Tracking to the minimum. Is this behavior isolated to me, or are other experiencing the same behavior? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry for HP SimplePass and select Uninstall. When this has completed, restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, download the version of HP SimplePass on the following link and save it to your Downloads folder. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71729.exe When the download has completed, open your Downloads folder, right click the SimplePass installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. Again, when this has completed, restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, open windows Control Panel and in the top right, next to View by: select 'Large Icons'.  From the new layout, select the HP SimplePass entry and see if you can set up your fingerprint log-on. Regards, DP-K

Hi. I have a Dell Inspiron 14. 2Gb Memory Core2Duo.

I can;t scroll Sideways but I can going up and down.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Dell Touchpad not scrolling Sideways. But scrolling Up & Down

On both my Acer aspire one netbook (synaptics) and my Lenovo notebook (alps) I need to tab twice on the lower edge of the touchpad (to gain its attention?!?) and then it will scroll. Beyond that I believe you need to take a walk on the Dell support web site. There are number of 14xx models so you need to follow the steps there to find the freshest driver for your particular model. On both of mine the newest drivers have given scrolling as well as "pinching" to re-size pages, photos etc.

This morning, I decided to make the jump to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1, and I have to say, the design looks simpler to use, but this new OS software has done something with my touchpad. Originally, on my Windows 8.1, I was able to scroll through whatever web pages or folders in my computer with one finger using my touchpad. With this new update, initially, I thought it broke my touchpad completely, but the problem has been narrowed down to having to now use two fingers to scroll in the most awkward way as this touchpad doesn't seemed to be designed for two finger scrolling. Is there a way for me to change this back? Would I have to revert back to Windows 8.1 to get my one finger scrolling back?

The laptop I am using is a Gateway NE56R34u, and the touchpad is an ELAN. Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Answer:How to change from two-finger scrolling back to one-finger scrolling?

Would Gateway drivers for their touchpad be one area to explore ?

I was looking at a Logitech touchpad, and it appears their drivers are what controls the response/numbers of fingers/digits.

The following is from a web site. The repair feature doesn't work for me.

One of the best kept secrets of Windows XP is it's built in repair feature!

Boot from your Windows XP CD. Insert the Windows XP CD into your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then restart your computer. When the "Press any key to boot from CD" message appears on the screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.

A blue screen will appear and begin loading Windows XP Setup from the CD.

When completed loading files, you will be presented with the following "Windows Setup" screen, and your first option. Select "To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER". DO NOT select "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console."

Hello! I have installed the Win 10 enterprise LTSB the trial version. So far, so good, with the exception of two details:

- The scrolling of inactive windows isn't working properly. I mean, it works only when the "Settings" window is the active, then I can scroll the inactive windows underneath it, but nothing else.

- I tried to update the system, hoping that it would fix the issue, but it doesn't download anything.

Maybe the update function is disabled in the trial version?

EDIT:

I updated it, but that still didn't fix the problem.

Answer:Scrolling inactive windows doesn't work

One more edit;

Maybe it has something to do with synaptic touchpad driver? I couldn't find anything related to it. I tried it on my desktop, it works with the mouse, but here on my laptop it doesn't.

Just got a brand new laptop, Dell Inspiron 11 3137, and updated to windows 8.1. The touchpad does not work properly now; gestures/scrolling/pointer not working. I've spent over 16 hours getting windows 8.1 installed and then troubleshooting this issue. I've contacted Dell; updated the driver from Dell, even tried installing the latest driver from Synaptic. I even tried setting the Synaptic app to run under the windows 8 version.
Touchpads have been around a long time. It's the last thing I expect not to work properly.
At this point I am ready to send the laptop back and call it quits on windows.
Can anybody help with this?

Hi,
SO, You're having problems with 8.1 and the Synaptics Dell Touchpad!? I wish I could say I've never seen this before. I won't open up with "Have you tried this?" Instead, I'm confident this will "fix what ails ya"  There have been a wealth of problems with touchpads (Alps included) and not just on Dell systems, during the transition from windows 8 to 8.1 (I still can't figure out why they didn't just call it SP1) IN ANY EVENT> give this a go and please get back to me after you've done it so I can share with others who are experiencing the same problem. I'll explain WHY these steps at the end...Go ahead peek ...I won't tell anyone!
Locate the current driver for your touchpad from  Dell Support by entering your service tag number here:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriversHome/ShowProductSelector?fkey=Drivers_PS
SAVE the download to somewhere convenient like your desktop (you can put it somewhere else later)
1) From the control panel under Programs / Uninstall a Program locate the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver and completely uninstall the software.  but DO NOT RESTART if prompted. Instead select the restart later option.
2) From the control panel under Hardware and Sound locate the Device Manager in the Devices and Printers category and click on it (device manager may require admin permission.)

Dear Support,
I have a Dell VOSTRO 3560 laptop that has an Elan Tech SmartPad touchpad. I like its responsiveness very much.
Unfortunately, I recently spilled a bit of coffee and some of that went under the touch pad left and right buttons. The buttons stopped functioning but the touch pad itself is still very good.
Even before the spill I rarely used the buttons. I always used the touch pad to tap to click and two finger tap to right-click.Strangely though, after the spill when the hardware buttons stopped working, the tapping on the touch pad also stopped working. I made sure that the touch pad still can do tap clicking by uninstalling the Dell TouchPad driver and reverting to the Microsoft Mouse PS2 driver. In that case I can use the tap to click feature but only for 1 finger tap. I do not get any other feature as the driver is the simple generic MS one.
My question is would it be possible to still use the Elan tech provided (Dell TouchPad) driver and somehow configure it to accept the tap to click and two finger tap to right-click? This in addition to all the remaining scrolling and gesture support that the driver implements? I tried all the Dell Touchpad settings applet but nothing changed. Perhaps a registry value setting in the section for the elantech?
What seems to be happening now is that the driver is doing some hardware diagnostics, determining that the hardware buttons left and right are not working, and consequently completely disabling left and right click comm... Read more

Hello everyone! I updated to Windows 10 this morning, and after doing so realized that my side scrolling on my mouse pad (I'm on a laptop) doesn't work anymore. Googled, found out it was a driver issue, and went to download the correct driver.

However, acer aspire drivers don't have the touchpad driver updated for Windows 10 yet. Do I have to wait until the driver comes out to fix this issue? If so, any idea how long that could take? (They have the important drivers updated already, those for bluetooth and wifi)

I have been facing this issue from the day one since I installed Windows 10 on my laptop (Dell XPS L502x).

Native Windows Applications like all browsers, office products etc. anything that is not from the Store, works fine. I can use Touch Pad scrolling with no trouble. e.g. on Internet Explorer, Chrome, MS Word, etc.

But the apps that come out of store or the apps like those which come pre-built with Windows 10 such as new Settings UI, Microsoft Edge. Touch Pad scrolling just don't work with these apps. When I perform scrolling the scroll-icon appears but doesn't scroll the content.

This issue is only with Touch Pad. External Mouse works great with scrolling on any kind of app.

Hope to find a solution here.
Thanks

PS: drivers are all good on the machine and up to date with no warning or error.

Hi all,
I'm currently operating with a Dell Latitude (E6410) running Windows 7 32-bit. I have the default Alps touchpad built-in, and was recently ecstatic to find the driver for multi-touch on the Dell Support page, something I figured I'd never get privileged to since this doesn't have a Synaptics touchpad.
Everything works as it;s supposed to, as far as the options go under the Dell Pointing Devices menu. However, I noticed that two-finger options are missing, specifically a two-finger right click. This is odd, seeing as there are plenty of other two-finger options, and since two-finger right click has become a standard with multi-touch touchpads.
So my question is, is there anything I can do to get two-finger right click? I don't see any options officially provided by Dell, so I'm totally okay with installing software or drivers from somewhere else, as long as they work. I haven't been able to find anything myself, as it seems every driver and software in the world is developed with Synaptics in mind.

I just bought a Yoga 3 14" and I have an issue with the touchpad: when I use the two finger scrolling function, it doesn't stop scrolling unless I lift both fingers off the touchpad. All other notebooks I have used before stopped scrolling when I lifted just one finger, alowing me to resume controlling the pointer with just one finger. This is very annoying, and I would like to know how to change this behaviour.

Thanks

Using laptop last night ( Windows 7)- used copy and paste feature from Chrome into PowerPoint without issue.
Decided to upgrade to Windows 10. Now the copy feature and paste feature does not work in any capacity in terms of photos. I went to use Edge, reinstalled Chrome and neither work.
I am able to highlight text, copy and paste without any issue.
Yet, the image will not copy, nor paste into Power Point. When I load Microsoft Office, and try to hit paste, the program crashes every time and this was after I clicked from both Edge and Chrome.
I can save the image into another program, and click on a COPY option and it will Copy and Paste into the programs mentioned. Just not the physical right click/copy/paste
I have tried resetting, restarting to no avail. This only is an issue on the particular laptop. I have Windows 10 on a desktop and have no issues.

Answer:Lenovo B580 Touchpad scrolling doesn't working

hi Kreczr,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

If you have a Synaptics Touchpad, you can only use the synaptics driver. If you have an ELAN Touchpad, you can only use the elan driver. These two drivers are not interchangeable. To know which brand of Touchpad is installed on your PC, try to download AIDA 64 Extreme Edition and look under Windows Devices.

Sample Synaptics Touchpad

I have a DELL XPS M1530 laptop that I just installed a full version of Windows 7. It had Windows Vista on it before. It is a replacement computer for my old DELL (same model) that was having issues.

I usually hook up a bluetooth mouse when I use my computer, but I just noticed last night when I was using the touchpad instead, is that it does not scroll up and down, or left to right. The mouse part of the touchpad works fine, as does the left and right buttons.

I am assuming the scrolling is just turned off on this computer (thinking simply first ... hoping it is not a serious issue). But I cannot find where to check to see if it needs to be turned back on.

Any suggestions?

Hello! So yesterday morning my laptop completely shut down and I couldn't figure out what was happening. I had things to do, so I left it. When I came home, I opened it up and found out that the entire thing had been updated to Windows 10, and I don't know how since I never gave permission. Anyways, I figured there was nothing I could do so I got over it. But as the day went on, I discovered that my touchpad doesn't work whatsoever. I searched this problem and heard that I'm supposed to tick scrolling off in settings. Since then, two finger scrolling works, but NOTHING ELSE (even though all the boxes are ticked). This is very frustrating because I now can only use my laptop with a mouse, which means it's basically a computer for the time being. Please help! Thank you!

Hi there!Okay, listen...I have a Lenovo IdeaPad U310, and i am happy about it, so happy i bought a Windows 8 license for it, and everything went smooth with the installation, but...When i try to use the four finger gesture with my Synaptics TouchPad, nothing happens! Everthing worked perfectly fine in Windows 7, so dont have a clue. I have tried to install the drivers from Lenovo's website, without luck, tried installing the generic drivers, same result, i even tried to install the "Intelligent TouchPad" pakage for Windows 7, but still nothing... Everything but the four fingers gesture is working fine, so i dont know what to do... AND: Before someone ask, yes, i have looked in the Synaptics settings I have these system specs: Lenovo IdeaPad U310Windows 8 Pro (Windows 7 Ultimate before)Intel core i3-2367M4GB RAMIntel HM61 chipsetIntel HD 3000 Graphics And sorry, i looked for the TouchPad "version", but without any luck, its just "Lenovo pointing device". I hope you guys can find a solution! Cheers, Jonas Strand.

Hello guys! Thanks for this opportunity and nice to meet you! As I said in the title, the Touchpad doesn't work anymore. I think it's a software fault, because I have my PC near 1 year (my warranty will expire on 25 November) and I Always taking care of my computer. I tried the FN combination,It doesn't work,on Control Panel I don't see "Mouse and Touchpad" but only "Mouse" (I use a USB Mouse) and I see only "Lenovo Pointing Device" from Synaptics with no driver update. What should I do? Thank you!

Yes, this is another "my touchpad is dead after W10 Anniversary update" topic, but since i have a E 13 series laptop, i thing i should start a new oneWell, more or less, it's like for the R and S series, i have a ES1-311-P3V7, here's my situation:- Upgraded from 8 to 10 last year- After the update, touchpad didnt work, but as we know, i just had to upgrade my bios to 1.11 and synaptic driver.. So evertything went ok, touchpad was ok EVEN IN ADVANCED MODE (BIOS), SO I COULD USE GESTURES.- Yesterday my acer upgraded itself without telling me anything (thanks for that microsoft, but the way....) and BAM! It all want like last year, touchpad dead. Yes, if in BIOS i set the tochpad in BASIC, it works but common, this is not really a solution.Of course at first i thought Acer already delivered a new driver or bios for this anniversay update so i checked Acer site and nothig, drivers page shows the same 2015 drivers, nothing new...just to be sure, i re-installed everything (BIOS, synaptic driver, I/O drivers...) like last year but nothing...So what now? I heard in other forums guys contacted Acer and the answer is "You have to wait Microsoft to fix it"....common! And plus, it's my understanding that now we have just 10 days to roll back to previus build, after that we won't have the option in settings anymore. I reaaaaly dont want to format and stay in previus W10

Answer:Touchpad doesn't work after Windows 10 Anniversary...

OMG, i don't know if i should be happy that i found a solution (in a very random way) or sad that after almost a year acer didnt come out with this solution. And it was a pretty easy one.Well, honestly in last month i was forgetting about all this touchpad nonsense, mainly because i was using Linux anyway, but last days i really wanted to solve this problem, lol! After installing all kind of apps, softwares, firmwares,...lol you guys have no idea what i tried (of course i created a Restore Point before messing around with the pc, just in case)...i decided to try ("why not" i thought at this point ) even the oldest W8.1 drivers, from the Download page here for my E 13 model...BAM! It works! and be aware, i'm not talking about the "basic" set on bios touchpad, no, i mean the proper multi touch "advance" touchpad! Like it supposed to be! YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHH! So, to sum up: Guys, i know it sounds weird, but YOU HAVE TO INSTALL THE OLD W8.1 IO DRIVERS IN THE W10 ANNIVERSARY EDITION!In my case, i have a Aspire ES1-311 so i used the old IO Drivers_Intel_603.9600.1948.29470_W81x64For Windows 8.1.Don't know for other R- and S- Aspire series but please spread the word, maybe this solution could apply also to them!

I am the proud owner of an HP Envy TouchSmart 17-njr Notebook PC.  This unit comes with a Biometric fingerprint reader.  For reasons unrelated to the hardware, I had to end my computer to factory for fctory refurbishment.  My PC has since been returned.  Prior to sending the machine in for repairs, the Biometric fingerprint scanner worked perfectly.  WHen I received my computer back from the factory, the fingerprint scanner functioned normally, until I tried to install windows 10.  The installation failed, and for various reasons, I was forced to refresh my PC no less then 3 times!  Finallt, the native windows 8.1 started working again and now everything on my PC operates normally except for the Biometric fingerprint scanner. When I go to 'settings', and select 'account', and then select 'sign-in options' and try to set up the fingerprint scanner, the device works normally.  However, when logging in at start up, the device is unresponsive. Also, HP Simplepass doesn't seem to work.  When I select HP Simple pass in start or File manager or COntrol panel an error message is given: "A refferel was returned form the server".   I have already tried the following fixes: 1.) Reinstalling the driver software2.) Deleting the device in device manager and restarting the computer3.) Deleting the device in device manager and then right-clicking and asking the computer to search for new devices4.) Right clicking the biome... Read more

Answer:The finger swipe & login doesn't work

Hi @Bags2, Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand from your posts that you are having an issue with your HP ENVY TouchSmart m7 Notebook and the Fingerprint reader not working correctly. You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook. When performing a System restore please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices as they can cause issues. Please get back to me how this goes. If  you wish to say Thanks for my efforts to help, click the Thumbs up to give me a Kudos.   Thanks.

Hello all,

I recently installed Windows 7 x64 onto my Dell Latitude D630 and found that the scrolling with the touchpad does not work at all. I have already downloaded and installed the Synaptics driver and nothing happened. I also downloaded R165804.exe directly from Dell's site and it came up with an error saying that 'the software does not work on your operating system. Click OK to exit.'

What now?

Answer:How to Enable Scrolling on Dell Latitude D630 Touchpad?

The Dell downloads do not show a touchpad driver for Vista 64 bit. Just the one you have which is listed for Vista 32 bit only.

Try installing that in a compatibility mode and see if that will help.

You can also post on the Dell laptop forum and maybe someone there will have something for you. Officially Dell does not support Win 7 on this model, although Vista drivers should work OK.

Hi

In the past i have used the Fn+ F9 to stop the touchpad from working (i usualy had a mouse nearby and that works better), now i tried to use it again and it doesn't turn on anymore?
Only windows 7 (64bits) has been installed since.

what do i have to do to get the touchpad working again?

(i've already tried to install the value added package but that gives an error on instal)

With kind regards

P.S i am using speedfan to cheak my grafic card temperature because the laptop has been shuting down in the past (never does that with windows 7 though)
and the temperature of the grafic cards gets over 100 degrees celcius, when plating the biggest games, is that normal?

Answer:Qosmio X300-15R - Touchpad on/off doesn't work on Windows 7

Hi

What error message you get exactly if you install Toshiba Value Added Package and where did you download it?
I ask this because this tool is necessary to use the FN keys.

If I search for Qosmio X300 and Windows 7 64bit I can find a correct VAP version that should work. Maybe you should try to download it again!

Regarding the temperature I think it?s only necessary to clean the notebook using compressed air spray. This could blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators.
Check this!!

Answer:post windows 10 install; touchpad doesn't work!

You're very welcome. The only other suggestion I can offer would be to unistall the touchpad driver and software in the programs menu in the control panel, reboot and try that synaptics driver I posted again. Or try the driver directly from synaptics. Always uninstall the previous synaptics driver before installing the new one. http://www.synaptics.com/en/drivers.php

Answer:Portege R500 - Touchpad doesn't work on Windows 7

Hi

Have you tested an external mouse on the notebook? Does it work?
Is the touchpad listed in device manager?

Normally you can enable or disable the touchpad using FN+F9. Did you check this?
Maybe you have to install the Value Added Package for this.

Hi everybody
I Installed Windows 7 on my Satellite Pro A200-1S1, retrieved all the drivers on Toshiba site, everything works fine (less than the web camera that didn't work even with previous s.o. XP or Vista...). But my Touchpad doesn't work at all.... No Fn+F9, no driver, nothing works. And in my control panel-device manager seems to be everything ok.
Any suggestion?

Check this!

Check also if the option ?Disable touchpad when USB mouse is connected? is not checked. This can be found in the control panel -> mouse -> Device settings

Scrolling using the touchpad is not working on either of my acer notebooks after updgrading to 10. any ideas?

Answer:touchpad scrolling does not work on two acer notebooks

You need to install a proper Windows 10 compatible driver for your trackpad.
Windows 7 drivers most likely won't work, Windows 8/8.1 drivers might work in some cases but might also behave erratically.

Touchpad doesn't respond, and when I press trackpoint middle button it acts as a mouse wheel (opens links in a new tab, scrolls only if I press it on the empty space) or sometimes doesn't work at all. I had drivers for ps/2 mouse and keyboard installed , if I try to install drivers from lenovo site, I get an error : Synaptics device not found!

Two-Finger Scrolling in Windows 8 doesn't seem to work properly on my U300S Synaptics trackpad.Instead of just scrolling through the tiles or app on the Windows 8(.1) startscreen, individual apps are higlighted and scrolled through like when I use the arrow-keys on a regular keyboard. Also, in the metro version of Internet Explorer you should be able to move back and forth in the browser history by horizontally doing a two-finger-scroll gesture. Do I have to install anything besides the Synpatics driver to get this to work properly?

Since yesterday, the two finger scrolling fonction stops working after a couple of minutes after rebooting. I tried uninstalling the and reinstalling the synaptic driver without much succes. I made sure to instal the latest driver version available. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence but this problem arised at the same moment I installed microsoft office 2010. I have a t430s working with windows 7 (64 bit). If anyone has a solution to this problem let me know! Thank you

I have bought my DELL xps last week. The touchpad does not work at all.
I have tried with driver update, uninstall the driver and restarting the PC.
All useless. Device does not recognize the any mouse! however external mouse works normally.

Answer:DELL xps 13, windows 10, touchpad does not work at all

If you check Settings, Device, Mouse & touchpad, there should be some options for the touchpad.  One of those is touchpad on and Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected.
Below those options it should say "no mouse connected" if you have removed the external mouse.  I have seen at least one poster who stated the settings always showed a mouse connected.  If that were to be the case and you had turned the touchpad off with mouse connected, your touchpad may not work
Could you check those settings and see what you show.
I assume, since you can load drivers, the touchpad is showing in Device Manager..

I just got a new Yoga 11e Chromebook and can't get the two-finger right-click touchpad function to work. The Settings for the touchpad don't seem to apply. Any ideas?  I went to the Lenovo support site to see about updated drivers, but none were shown.

I have a lot of problems registering a right-click on the touchpad, sometimes having to click 3 or 4 times for a right-click menu to appear.I don't know if this is a hardware fault, or if there is only a small specific area where right-click is registered. Anyway, either way this is not good.Does anyone else have this issue? Ideally I would like to use two finger tap to bring up the right-click menu, but this seems to be disabled. I've tried changing some registry values to enable it but no luck. Has anyone succesfully enabled this?

Answer:Yoga 3 11 - Right-click doesn't always work / how to enable two finger tap?

Dear Jmh7

Welcome in lenovo community

Kindly be informed that there is no option to get the right click function with anyway without the right click . as for the main issue that is who hard to get the right click option from the first time, i do recommend to check the buttons at one of Lenovo authorized service center as it may be hardware issue .

Contact the below support for more help :-
Thanks
