Lenovo YOGA 500 WiFi Issue

Question: Lenovo YOGA 500 WiFi Issue

I just bought a new Lenovo YOGA 500 IntelŪ HD Core? i5 Processor, 8Gb RAM, 1Tb Storage, 15.6 inch Full HD Touchscreen 2-in-1 Laptop. I'm yet to take it out of the packaging (thank heavens) before I noticed on the website I bought it from under Features of the Laptop it states: Wifi Enabled: NDoes this mean there's no WiFi capabilities on the laptop? Secondly, after perusing this forum, I've discovered the laptop seems to have a WiFi issue, the question thus is would any of you with the same laptop advise I keep it? Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I posted here awhile ago and no one has been able to help with the issue. I have a problem with my Yoga 700 where I have to constaltly disconnect/reconnect to my wifi network--typically when I am using multiple tabs or browsing while streaming. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling my WIFI driver and have had no success. How can I fix this?! thanks

Has anyone upgraded their 11s WiFi card to use the 5Ghz Wifi Band and/or the new ac standard??   My 11s does not see the 5Ghz frequency, do any of the Lenovo laptops see the 5GHz band?  Do any laptops use 5GHz at all? I upgraded my 11s RAM, so I'm not afraid to open it up again.  Thoughts, suggestions, has anyone here has tried upgrading the 11s Wifi??  Thx!

I recently did a Windows 10 update to my Lenovo Yoge Ideapad  11 S on July 16th and now my touch screen does not work. When I check the drivers for my monitor and touch screen I noticed the driver was missing. I cannot get Lenovo or Microsoft to fix this. What else can I do to get that driver back ?

Answer:Lenovo Yoga Idea Pad Yoga 11 S touch screen issue

Hello Dws520Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. Was this the creators update?
If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:
https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/solutions/ht503655

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Hello! I just bought a Lenovo B580 59-339463 (i5 3210m Ivy Bridge)  laptop, installed Win7, installed all drivers on the dvd (including the 3 wlan drivers - intel/realte/broadcom - not sure this was a smart move) only to find that I am unable to connect usign the wifi. I've been browsing round the web for the past 2 hours, but nothing seemed to help.WiFi is turned on (in BIOS, in device manager, in adaptor settings in fn+f5) The WiFi connections just don't show up in the list of network connections When diagnosing the WiFI connection I receive a message informing me that the "Wireless adapter is experieincing problems" and then this message: "There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection adapter. Windows couldn't automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter." Intel ProSet/WiFi tools -> Diagnostics -> Hardware Test FAILED. The wireless adapter is disabled or uninstalled                                                                         Software Test PASSED Since i'm rather new at all this, never having owned a laptop before, I've completely ran out of ideas. So I turn to you, maybe you know what to make of all this. Thanks!

Answer:Lenovo B580 WiFi issue / Wireless connections not showing up, WIFI turned ON

Hi

Welcome To Lenovo Community

You may please try

Enter BIOS by tapping F2 Load setup defaults
Download and install the latest wireless driver from the Lenovo Support site
Ensure the wifi switch is ON prior to installing the drivers.
Download and install the Lenovo power manager and hotkey drivers - these are integral to allowing the
FN+F5 hotkey to enable the wifi card
Uninstall Lenovo ReadyConn' software if it is pre-loaded

Right click my computer > manage > device management > network adapters > find your wireless
Adapter > double click > on power management tab, make sure "Allow the computer to turn off this

Dear all, I have read about many issues regarding Wifi connection (connection drops often without any reason, poor signal strength, too long time to establich connection...). My problem could sound similar, but it's rather different:Although my wireless connection appears like Enabled in Win8, I cannot switch it on / connect. It appears like Not Connected (Wifi = Off). In fact,  I cannot see any wifi network when the list of available networks used to be.- I checked BIOS, and it's set as Enabled.- I updated BIOS to the last version.- I updated wireless wireless drivers to the last version- I modified the wireless configuration as it's especified in the long forum thread for Wifi issuesBut nothing has been successfull. For some strange reason, I cannot switch the wifi device on.My laptop was bought in December 1012. It's a model from USA. Is some else suffering from the same problem? Many thanks in advance!

My new Lenovo Yoga 3Pro drops the internet at random times and very frequently (sometimes after a few seconds, other times after 15 minutes).  My smart phone stays connected at all times, and my previous computer never had this problem, so it seems to be this computer.  My daughter, for whom I bought the same computer, complains of the same thing (though she is off at college, so it's not the same internet provider).  Is there some simple fix I can do?  I am not especially computer savvy, but willing to give it a try because I can't keep on restarting my computer to capture internet I know is there.

Network adapter isn't detected by the laptop. It just doesn't show up. Funny thing is that bluetooth works!- Right USB isn't working, no idea why.Everything else seems okay. Any solutions? Tips? I'm having very inconsistent wifi performance on my Yoga 910. This has the Qualcomm Aetheros network adapter. I already installed the latest drivers from lenovo site. I also adjusted the power settings for maximum performance on both plugged in and battery. I have full signal... I'm maybe 15 feet away from my router. My phone is getting nearly 100Mb/s and my expensive new laptop is struggling to hit 2Mb/s right now. I've searched and tried any and all fixes. It seems that a restart will usually get the speed back up, but only temporarily. I check resources and don't see any process or service using the wifi, yet the speed tanks like crazy. As an example, I was barely able to hit 2Mb, restarted and now its hitting 150Mb every time. After about 5 minutes, speeds are back down to 2-5Mb tops. What's going on here? -- Ed

Answer:Yoga 910 wifi issue

I'm experiencing WLAN performance issues as well. See the issues section in my review of the 910.

Are you also seeing WHEA-logger errors being reported in the Event Viewer? Does it help if you connect using the 2.4GHz band instead of the 5GHz band?

There's clearly something wrong, but whether it's really the hardware or the driver software is difficult to tell at this point. I've put a service call into Lenovo. I'll see what that brings.

hi everybody, just bought a lenovo yoga 2 pro and I'm not seeing any wifi networks, it said I couldn't customize anything cuz windows wasn't activated, then it couldn't activate since it had no connections, and then it didn't find any networks at all, and i was not on airplane mode, any suggestions?

Answer:new lenovo yoga 2 pro doesn't connect to wifi

The Yoga 2 Pro has lots of problems with the internet. There is a 66 page thread on the internet issues the device has here: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Yoga-2-Pro-Wifi-Problems/td-p/1277577/ Maybe something it the link above will help you. Currently, some internet issues have no fix and are only experinced when you connect to certain routers. As a fix, read the thread above. If you can get it working with one router, take that router with you in your laptop bag and ask your employer, school, airport, hotel or Starbuck Employee to allow you to use your router instead of their router. Best of luck! Shall this be the year of the do!

Hey folks, after my wife accidentally broke the HDMI port in our Yoga 13" I picked up a replacement motherboard and swapped them out. Everything seemingly was great after the swap out until I realized that wifi/bluetooth was missing when Windows (8.1 Pro) booted. First thought was airplane mode enabled, but checked and it was off. Popped open Device manager and realized it is not showing the native (and obviously terrible) Realtek USB wifi whatsoever. Moved over to the Lenovo website to acquire the latest drivers but was unsuccessful getting them to work. Tried both the Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 drivers for kicks but with no luck. Initial thought was loose connection from the goofy wifi cable on the terrible Realtek card so I tore it back down and checked connections. Powered back on with card still missing from device manager, so I was wondering if the connection for the wifi card on the new motherboard was faulty. Tossed the original motherboard with broken HDMI port back into the Yoga to see if wifi would be present again but even with the original mobo back in the card was still not present in device manager. Ordered a replacement Realtek wireless card and cable and installed again with the new motherboard, but of course still no wifi showing in device manager. So I am circling back around to software issue here and looking for advice. I do have a single unknown device in device manager but my background is Cisco networking more than PC repair so unsure if this is re... Read more

Could you check in your device manage if its showing the Network Adapters? What is displayed under that?

Highly unlikely, but could both mobos have faulty wifi connectors?
Did Wifi used to work before you swapped out the motherboards (first time)?

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2.
I reset the notebook with the One Key Recovery application.
The notebook has been reset but can not find the WIFI card. It disappeared, it seems that it does not exist. The ethernet icon appears in the bar below the windows and the only possibility is to create a VPN connection. I do not know how to do it ... restoring the notebook with one recovery should not have these problems

Hello, The WiFi adapter is the Intel Dual Band wireless-ac 3160 and the drivers are from October 2017, the Device Manager is showing the network card as working without issues and nothing is reporting any problems, yet I am unable to simply turn the WiFi ON. The operating system is Windows 10 and I have tried the following: - enabling the WiFi interface using the command prompt (says it is already enabled)- trying older drivers for the Intel Dual Band wireless-ac 3160 (still will not turn ON)- opening the laptop and disconnecting the two wires from the WiFi module, then reconnecting (still no difference)- disabling and then re-enabling the Wireless in BIOS (no difference)- loading default settings in BIOS (no difference)- installing Windows 8.1 from scratch (same problem)- re-installing Windows 10 (same problem)- installed all of the Lenovo utilities and Companions I could find (still nothing)- windows troubleshooting simply tells me to switch the WiFi ON using either a hardware switch (which does not exist on this notebook) or the software switch using the keyboard - I press the F7 for airplane mode and it says that it goes into that mode, then pressed again and it simply goes back to WiFi which is turned OFF and showing the red X What is interesting is that when I booted TAILS from a USB drive the WiFi worked without issues, so this is obviously a software problem. Any suggestions?

Hi, I bought a brand new Lenovo Yoga 910 series laptop, costing a fortune. Its not even 20 days since I bought this laptop, I am seeing the wifi adaptor losing the connection within 5 mins of usage. Whats worse, it causing my wifi router to jam as well, and all of my other devices loses connection. I have few other devices, including a lenovo thinkpad, where i never faced any issues till date.  After some research I found out that the wifi adaptor in the lenovo yoga is Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4a  and it has lots of issues on Windows 10 and people are complaining on multiple forums about it since couple of years. Suprising that Lenovo nor Microsoft nor Qualcomm has not fixed it yet or I couldnt find a proper solution till now.  It is such a bad customer experience, that such a basic thing like wifi connectivity is not working properly on such a high end laptop. I feel I just made a bad decision of buying this waste device instead of a Mac book Pro. Hope someone from Lenovo fixes this for me or else I shall return this device.

Hi Guys, I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 laptop. This is the second time I have had issues with the WiFi dropping out frequently.  The first time was when I first downloaded windows 10 - I downloaded a new driver from the Lenovo website and everything worked perfectly.  The last couple of months it has been playing up again. My phone and any other devices will be connected to the internet however my laptop will repeatedly disconnect from the internet, this happens a ridiculous amount of times everyday - and it's not just my home wifi! Im currently at my university library and it does the same thing. It just drops out randomly and says "not connected - no connects are available" I have to keep restarting my laptop for it to reconnect to the internet (I know that's probably not the best thing to do but it's the only thing that sometimes works). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver software, I've scanned for hardware changes and nothing comes up?? Has anyone got any ideas on anything else I could try?  Thank you all!

I have a yoga 13 (the oldest version) that recently broke on the base cover near to the hinge. I brought a replacement base cover (something I know Lenovo would probably not recommend). I went about disassembling the yoga and transferring all the components from the broken base cover to the new one. After reassembly, everything worked except for the wifi with the system stating that the local area connection adapter is disabled.I have checked the connections to the wifi card and all appear fine and have checked to see if the antennas on the new cover are broken by reconnecting up the ones from the broken cover but this does not work.Is this a problem with the system or alas a hardware problem that would need repairing?

Here is my situation (read carefully): I never had wifi problems with my 1st gen Lenovo Yoga running Windows 8 64-bit. Always super fast wifi and 5 bars on the icon. One morning, I couldn't connect to my home wifi (unidentified network), but I had no problem on my Android phone. I called my Internet provider and they "separated" the 2.4GHz channel (made for further distances, but slower) and the 5GHz channel (for shorter distances, faster). From then on, I could see the 2.4GHz on my laptop, but not connect to it and I couldn't see the 5GHz.On my phone, I could see both. As I obviously suspected a problem with the Realtek RTL8723A network adapter on my laptop, I reinstalled the driver, which partly solved the problem, as I can now surf the Internet on the 2.4GHz, but still can't see the 5GHz.Plus, I only have 1 bar on the icon, even though I'm 2m from the router. Is there anything I could do to see both channels, just like on my phone, and be able to use the faster 5GHz channel? Thanks

Recently there was a Wifi Driver issue, which got resolved when the service guy came and replaced it, 6-8 weeks ago. After that my Wifi works fine but has a bit of a performance issue - It takes some time to identify Wifi Networks. If I switch on my bluetooth, the wifi performance degrades more, i.e. more time to identify network and the speeds of download/upload deteriorates a lot (A video in Youtube 720p quality is brought down to 144p).In addition it seems to take a lot of time for my bluetooth to identify a device. Does the Wifi and Bluetooth share the antennas? If so does this mean the antenna have a problem now?Is there a way to troubleshoot this? maybe by checking speed on Wifi and bluetooth.

I've had my Yoga Pro 2 for nearly a year now and just reccently have been experiencing wifi drop and limited connectivity. For the past week, it's been dropping out maybe 10x a day. Was it because of the last wireless driver i installed a month ago? Possibly, as it has never happened before. And to think I thought I was one of the lucky few who got had a good one but guess not.  Anyway, I'm lucky it happened now rather than later as my warrently ends in a week. Do I contact Lenovo and ask to send it in? Does the wifi card need to be replaced? Let me know if you have any experience with Lenovo repairs and what I should do next.  Thanks

Answer:Yoga Pro 2 Wifi Issue and warranty

There is a thread of about ~1500+ comments long. In short, Lenovo will just replace the card with the same problematic card. Thad said, click on the link on my sig and try the wifi fix.

When I'm listening to Pandora on the Yoga while running the audio out to bluetooth speakers, the audio stream stutters. There is no problem while listening to Pandora on the Yoga speakers. Same problem when I'm watching Recorded TV on Windows Media Center over wifi with the audio out to bluetooth speakers. No problem when listening on the Yoga speakers. It seems that when both wifi and bluetooth are active maybe there is RF interference? Anyone else experience this issue?

I looked around and didn't see any other posts exactly describing this issue, so sorry if others have already brought this up. I have a 720 13" that's acting very odd.  It'll sometimes go partially (showing only a 1/2 inch at the top of the screen) or completely black.  This happens mostly at the office.  When I walk it out of the office (and out of range of WiFi), it flickers a bit and starts displaying correctly.  I can turn airplane mode on, head back in the office, and it's fine.  As soon as it connects to the company WiFi again, it'll crap out on the display within a few minutes. When it's blacked out, I can still see the mouse if I move it up there, but can't see anything but streaks of dark grey distortion on the rest of the black screen.  Sometimes, the black area while very slowly drop down (1 pixel row at a time).  Other times, it stays that way indefinitely.  I've tried reinstalling the display, chipset, and power management drivers.  It happens at home and on cell phone tethering, but not nearly as often. Super odd issue.  It's 5 months old and still under warranty.  Anyone else having this issue?

I recently purchased a P40 Yoga and am happy with it, however I have problem with my Wifi + Bluetooth which I have not had before. I have always used Bluetooth and Wifi together with no problems. THE PROBLEM:When I turn on my Bluetooth, Wifi disconnects immediately. No networks are found anymore.  I have been using the same Wifi connection, so no changes there. I assume this is not an interference problem, because it has always worked great, so it must be a software problem. I also noticed that I have quite a weak connection although I'm close by the router What I have done:- Uninstalled Bluetooth and let windows reinstall- Reinstalled driver for Wifi- Install lastest driver for Wifi from Intel (19.20)- Checked router (channels [due to interference], proximity, etc.) What else could I do?

So I just bought a new Yoga 13 ultrabook and the thing is amazingly versatile.  I also decided to pick up the Lenovo sleeve in order to add a layer of protection. It appears as if the tablet has been accumulating an "uncleanable" spot on the cover where the four rubber feet would normally come into contact with it when folded into a tablet mode.  These four spots on the cover are not coming off with light cleaners and I even tried some Simple Green...no luck.  They are exactly located in the spots where the feet touch the cover and leave a noticeable mark.  I don't know if this issue is due to the sleeve since I have only ever used the ultrabook with the sleeve. I called tech support and they haven't a clue and so I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue?  Perhaps I should return the sleeve and exchange the ultrabook for another to start fresh. Thanks for any help or insight.

Hi all. Nice to meet you. I have a Lenovo Yoga 720 and am noticing two issues.  First, whenever I am on Wifi, my connection will occasionally drop and restart. It is becoming a challenge especially during Skype calls and even simple tasks like browsing. My wifi appears to be OK because I have another PC and Mac that does not have any connectivity issues. Is there something I can do investigate and solve this issues? Moreover, I have connected my Microsoft Sculpt Mouse which had worked great on another PC's. While I can connect it with my Yoga, the connection frequently drops and takes a couple of seconds to re-establish itself. If anything, these issues have become a pain. Any suggestions/ideas on how to rectify the situation would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, Recently my CEO had bought a Lenovo Yoga 910-13IKB. It came with win10 preinstalled. I had worked on it for about 10 minutes and than the problem showed up: our local WiFi network dissapeared. I immediatelly took my laptop and searched for WiFi networks but no there was no my SSID at all. Then I had restarted WiFi router and network showed Up, but as soon Yoga connected, same again no network. I googled for solution and I did uninstall EMC and Lenovo Utility but that did not resolved the problem. Then I had tried to uninstall all drivers and than download and install them again but still the problem is there. Wherever Yoga connects WiFi dies. I found that some routers recognize something like DDos attack and so I dissabled that option on routers but again problem is there. Please can u give me solution to this problem because my CEO thinks that I am not capable of doing my Job (IT technician/Network administrator). Best wishes Adis

Hi, welcome to the forums.

Can you please post the full model number of your Thinkpad Yoga 14?
Are you using Windows 10?

I may suggest you first to try to update the Wifi drivers and maybe some other of the system driver of you Yoga.
Here are my general tips:

1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches
2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.
3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"
4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers (use the full model number of your Thinkpad).

After that we can try a little bit more. For example I also like to test it on some other Wifi networks just to be sure it is not a compatibility issue with the Wifi Router.

Regards

My IdeaPad Yoga 13 has a problem with playing music via bluetooth A2DP profile. Audio plays well and without hiccups when I'm not downloading anything from the internet with high speeds but if I download something music playback starts to crackle and break. That is very annoying and I'm wondering why high wifi bandwidth would cause this kind of problem for bluetooth. If I've understood right, bluetooth and wifi modules reside on the same wireless card on Yoga but still, shouldn't they be separate in a way that they wouldn't be able to affect each other's performance? I'm using Nokia MD-310 Wireless Receiver with my Yoga. My second problem is about the same wireless card, too. My wifi works otherwise well and I haven't had any speed problems with it (unlike many others on this forum) but after a few weeks of using my Yoga it started to have problems with reconnecting to my wifi after waking up from sleep. It doesn't find any wifis unless I run the wireless troubleshoot which resets the wireless card. I've tried reinstalling the driver and setting windows 8 power management settings to maximum performance but nothing seems to solve these two problems. Does anyone have solution for these?

Hello All, After the last Win 10 Anniversary update, my wifi speed is terrible. I am using  100 mbit connection i did have any problems before the update. After it the speed drops to 3 mbit . I am sure it is a problem related with the new Intel WIFI drives. So can i ask to recommend a driver version for win 10 with which I can fix this speed drops. My details are following: Model: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265   date of the driver: 14-Jul-16 version of the driver : 19.1.0.4 Best Regards,Alex

Unfortunately, I also met WiFi problems, but also found unexpected and sad solution. Wifi worked pretty well at working place, but had problems at home. As an experiment I brought WiFi router from the working place home. It did not work! At home I used pretty old keyboard and mouse plugged into passive USB hub. As soon as they were disconnected, problems disappeared. WiFi was also stable after I plugged power supply into the USB hub. We are making 24-bit analog-to-digital converter that connects to the PC via USB. I exactly know its current consumption (300 to 330 mA) and know that it correctly handles USB rules about power regulations. Maximum current, specified by USB2.0 standard, is 500mA, so consumption of our ADC is within limits. As soon as I plug this ADC in, WiFi connection immediately disappears at the working place. In the case of other devices, such as USB flash drive, power consumption may depend on the activity, increasing as it writes or reads something, and decreasing at the moment of inactivity. I'm pretty sure that Lenovo placed their WiFi/bluetooth module on the same USB hub with right-side USB2 connector. Any device, that requires energy, being plugged into USB2.0 port, immediately destroys WiFi (and presumably bluetooth) and it is rather hard to get it back alive without special dancing around. So, conclusion: never plug anything into USB2.0 port, if you need WiFi. This decreases number of available USB ports from two to one. ... Read more

Sorry, but not that easy. Situation repeated several times, but after several reboots situation improved, and now WiFi is available. I am still quite sure this effect exists, but it is not permanent. By the way, WiFi was not available both under W8.1 single language (Russian) with Lenovo power management installed and and W8 Enterprize without Lenovo power management (installation of Lenovo power management leads to blue screen in this version). My Yoga is in dual boot configuration, as I need Hyper-V and it's not available with default installed W8 system.

Hi all. I just picked up a Yoga 920 (model 13IKB) which has a Qualcomm Atheros QCA61X4a wifi card. I'm having speed issues. On the same network as three other wireless devices, it gets a fraction of the available connection -- and what I get degrades over time.

I'm running Win10 build 1703 because 1709 was worse.

Things I've tried:

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 920 / Qualcomm Atheros QCA61X4a -- slow wifi

Hi Krib,

Not sure why your Yoga 920 is acting up but if you've got Lenovo Companion you could open it and click System Update to see if there are any drivers for the Wi-Fi card. I'm running a 2017 Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga and have no Wi-Fi issues. The laptop is running Windows 10 Pro. with the Fall Creator Update (1709).

Anyway see if there are any drivers for that laptop and go from there.

After experiencing Wireless issues I tried to upgrade my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 13" with Windows 8.1 64Bit to the latest drivers from the lenovo support site. Ever since I cannot connect to the WLAN anymore. What puzzles me is that the driver status in the device manager shows a different driver version than what I have installed (uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it doesn't change anything here). What puzzles me is the Lenovo Website shows driver version 16.6.0.8 (released 25.Jan.2014, see link below), whereas my system display version is 16.6.2.1 (dated 31.10.2013). Hence I thought I have another version from somewhere else on my and removed all driver versions I could find.Checking driver details I get the follow file versions:   C:\windows\system32\drivers\NETwbw02.sys    version 16.6.2.1 Intel, dated 2011   C:\windows\system32\drivers\Netwfw02.dat       no version or publisher   C:\windows\system32\drivers\vwifibus.sys          version 6.3.9600.16384 Microsoft Still, whenever I deinstall the driver, install the files from lenovo and click "Detect new device" my system pulls the drivers as listed above and is incapable of connecting to any WiFi. Windows 8.1. shows no connections available and doesn't connect anymore. How can I get my WLAN back? regards   Florian Lenovo Driver URL: http://support.lenovo.com/e... Answer:Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro: WiFi doesnt work after driver upgrade

hi Florian,

If Windows Update is configured to automatically fetch updates from Microsoft then the machine most likely have installed the Intel driver update for Intel(R) Wireless N-7260 as discussed in this article (which explains the different driver versions).

Things that you can try:
1. If the machine comes with the Intel(R) Wireless N-7260, navigate to:
 - Device Manager
 - Network Adapters
 - Intel(R) Wireless N-7260 (right click > update driver software)
 - Browse my computer for driver software
 - Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (you will then see a list of drivers, check if you have the version 16.6.0.8 from Lenovo and choose it and observe.

2. Restart the machine and boot into the BIOS (by pressing F2 on the Lenovo screen). Once you're in, navigate to the Configuration Tab and ensure Wireless is set to Enabled (if applicable).
 - Link to picture

3. Perform a System Restore and choose a date before the issue began. (this will restore the unit to an earlier point in time where wireless connection is working fine)

4. Perform a Refresh / Reset or press the OneKey Recovery button (this will restore the unit to factory settings - ensure that you backup important files first).

For the last few months, my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga has had an issue where it can connect to password protected wifi hotspots but cannot properly connect to ones which require web page sign-on ("capitve portals"). Machine: Lenovo Thinkpad YogaOperating System: Windows 8.1 Pro (64-bit)CPU: Intel i7-4500U RAM: 8GBNetwork adaptor: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 I am using wifi driver 17.0.2.5. Whenever I connect to a captive portal, it takes ages to connect, says "limited connectivity", and no sign in web page appears. I have tried this on a number of completely different captive portals and I get the same result. I am able to get round the issue by logging into the Wifi on my smartphone and then USB tethering my phone to the laptop - so I have ruled out the Wifi networks being an issue. Can anyone assist?

Download Windows 10 app called Wifi Analyzer and compare the dbm values if you put another PC next to it or your phone (if android - same app). In the power manager advanced settings click on change plan settings and look for wifi adapter strenght settings. Update the driver even if it is the latest. If you have VPN there is a known problem of Windows 10 you can google it.

I bought the Yoga 3 Pro - 1370 80HE laptop from USA and using it in India. After using a month it started showing problems with WiFi. Whenver WiFi is enabled in the device manager, system hangs. Initially I was told that the device is having some contact issue and handed over the device after escalating to the Services Executive Director. It worked fine for 2 days and again started showing the same issue. Again I raised service request and special services team contacted me. They asked me to contact the Qbic solutions and assured that senior technical person will look into it to provide a permanent solution. Few days after I was told that the WiFi card is having issue and needs replacement. Hi, I just purchased a lenovo thinkpad yoga 14 a month ago , I was a bit regret that I did not upgrade my graphic card to NVIDIA GeForce 840M 2GB and my current graphic card is Intel HD Graphics 5500. I was wondering is it possible to upgrade my graphic card to  NVIDIA GeForce 840M 2GB? I will back to china for 8 months placement next month, is it possible to upgrade my laptop in china rather than in uk? I wouldn't gamble on a successful ending. Wait to replace it after your exams. Upgrade your warranty if necessary to make it last longer. Because it will be an expensive upgrade.

I bought the Lenovo Yoga 900 a week ago. So far I'm quite happy with the Laptop , but there's one problem I have. The Fan starts spinning wildly every so often . And this drains my battery real quick. I get only about 4-5 hours . It happens while surfing using fiefox / chrome / edge. Task Manager shows that the CPU/ MEMORY Usage of the browsers is extremely high , in turn driving my cpu to a utilization of above 60% with no other apps running .This is a serious bummer , and I have no clue as to what can be done . As if this isn't enough , Windows Compatibility Telemetry is another service that occasionally causes a spike in the CPU usage. That I understand is a Windows issue. But the fan is quite disturbing. Any suggestions would be great  Thanks

In an effort to boost the Internet Speed for my wireless devices in my house I upgraded my Verizon FIOS router to their Advanced Router. I had noticed that all of my Wireless Devices were unable to get any more speed than 25/25, when I get 75/35 to my home. I discovered that my router was the issue. So I upgraded and was instantly able to reconnect all of my wireless devices and laptops without any issue, except my Lenovo Yoga 13. It kept getting an error that it could not login to the SSID I would give it. It would see it, but when I put in the password it would fail to connect andd give me a message indicating the same. So I thought I may need to download a newer driver. The Yoga would still attach to my hotspot, so I downloaded the latest WLAN driver. It still would not work, but I notced that it did not dump the old driver, so I deleted it and then I could not attach at all to anything. So I used another unit downloaded all off the WIreless and Bluetooth drivers I could find on the Lenovo site for Windows 8.1 and loaded them back up. I am now able to login to my new router but I get worse speeds than I did before. Now I get 10/20. But I also saw that there are now a bunch of bluetooth and wireless drivers in loaded in control panel, so before I delete any, do I need them all? Are they stepping on each other? What ones are definitely needed? Has anyone gotten anymore than 25/25 out of the Lenovo drivers? And did they ever succeed in hooking it up to a Verizon FIOS Advanced... Read more

Last year I had the laptop sent to Lenovo to replace my screen because my brightness would not change. Since then, the wifi adapter would "disappear*" randomly, though not often, sand I would have to reinstall the intel WLAN drivers to fix it. I though it wasn't going to be a problem. However, in the past two days, the wifi driver would disappear every time I turn on the laptop. Reinstallation did not bring it back and repairs did not work. I had to resort to using an external wireless adapter. The volume down button seems to be stuck down, not physically but more like it was "stickied".*disappear- the drivers would be missing, not disabled. Device manager does not show a wifi adapter existing.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13, which came with an i5-3337U processor, 4GB RAM and 128SSD. I replaced the ram with http://www.integralmemory.com/sites/default/files/uploads/dpdf/IN3V8GNAJKXLV.pdf as I often found that 4gb wasn't enough. My laptop is now running at about 60 degrees celcius for each core. I don't know what it was before as I hadn't measured it before, but the fans sound louder. Have i installed ram that isn't compatible or something? It runs well and multitasking is now better, it just seems louder and hotter than before. Thanks in advance.

Answer:New RAM issue Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13

Hi, DM  ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

First of all, I recommend you update your motherboard BIOS if an update exists. Sometimes new memory profiles will be included. It's probably a timing issue, not a frequency issue.

To test properly you would have to: 1) Run with slow memory for five minutes in idle. Record highest CPU core temp. 2) Repeat with faster memory. 3) Repeat with slower memory again (because things are heating up).

Update us how it goes.

Hello!I recently got a Lenovo Yoga 13". Had to change upgrade the ssd to 256 GB.So after installing and activating windows 8.1 everything works fine, but the touchscreen no. I've installed all the newest drivers. And no luck. Does anyone has any idea how to fix it? Thanks.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 13'' touchscreen issue

I am having the same issue, I called in to Lenovo support, and they had me send it in. They replaced the LCD and they said the drivers werer corrupted on it, so they had to put a new image of Win 8 on it. When i got it back the touchscreen worked for about 10 min then stopped and I cannot get it to come back up. I have tried disable/enabling the driver in device manager, but nothing is working. I did all the updates for Win8 and put 8.1 on there, still no luck

I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 700-11ISK six days ago.  Like others posts I have read, I too have noticed a strong unpleasant odour eminating from the exterior of my computer.  The smell is mainly coming from the top lid (screen) of the computer.  It reminds me of the smell cats leave when they have 'sprayed' their territory.  If the PC has been in a room all day, the smell is quite overpowering when I come home in the evening.   I was thinking of wiping the surface but I do not want to cause any damage until I have received advice on the matter.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 laptop just over a year old. My Autistic little man was happily playing Roblox when it crashed. He turned it off and on again and the laptop says repairing disk errors and just stays like that day and night. So I have bought Windows 10 on USB as it doesn't have a disk drive but and I stupidly thought it would be as simple as plugging it in the USB drive and hey presto it would be fixed. But it's not.

Could anyone explain the steps I need to take to fix it as I promised my son I'd get it done by now and when you set an Autistic child's expectations and you don't meet them, woe betide you!

Please help.

Thank you x

Hello - Have a Yoga 3 Pro that has suddenly decided not to charge. Has been working fine until recently... life of charged battery has been normal and the charging time has been normal as well. I swapped out chargers, and the new one did not work, so I'm assuming it is an issue with the connector on the laptop body. When I push the power button, the orange light blinks three times and nothing else happens. Is there any way to get this to charge, even if temporarily? Thanks in advance.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro - Charging issue

Did the battery run down?  Did you get a low battery warning?  You are saying the battery isn't charged; Are you sure it isn't something else?  Does the little power LED light when plugged in?  (next to the power switch)

Answer:Windows 10 on USB and a Lenovo Yoga 2 issue

You didn't have to buy anything. The Windows 10 licensing information is stored in the system firmware. You could have made a Windows 10 installer with the Media Creation Kit from Microsoft.

You could have also used the "Reset this PC" option in the recovery options and it would have installed a fresh copy of Windows off the Recovery partition.

Dear All, i am having issues with lenovo yoga pro 3  after upgrading to Windows 10 i am not able to share the screen on another monitor. this was working fine on windows 8 Please help Thanks

Answer:lenovo yoga pro 3 Display issue

I don't know if this will help you or not, but when I upgraded my yoga 2 pro to windows 10, I had to go into device manager and manualy update the graphics drivers. Windows would not do it automatically. Maybe that would help fix your issue.

Hi Guys.Need help.I have Lenovo Yoga 2 11 ( 2years old). There was no issue till 2 days back. Have given the issue details below.Details :1. Laptop went into issue - " Windows is not responding" and then got shut down.2. Tried to restart. After booting, the screen did show that "Windows is attempting repair". It was in the same state for more than 24 hours.3. I did a hard shut down and tried to restart. But then it displayed "No Bootable device, hit any key".4. I downloaded Windows Recovery media (Windows 10 X64) to USB and booted from there to fix windows start up issue repair.5. After repair, tried to reboot. Faces the issue (point 3) again and again.6. Looked into the BIOS set up and found that nothing is there under 'EFI section'. The Boot mode is 'UEFI' and not allowing me to edit, so can't change it to Legacy.7. Browsed through Lenovo support forum and other web help for a day, tried everything, but not able to change boot set up or boot from harddrive.8. My webcam switches on and of constantly when I want to use it. The white light, indicating that the camera is active, switches on and off constantly. So here is a new thing that happens with this Yoga 700.It was on my desk in lap top mode and i was away. i came back and had to log in to windows. When i logged in, the screen was sideways.  Another time it was flipped upside down.  This is not due to moving it. it was just on my desk with no change to it.  So add this to the list of weird things this pc does.  This would go under annoying.  the slow wifi connections would be more annoying though.

Hi, My name is jenny , i am having a major issue with my Lenovo Ideapad yoga 13 and was wondering if anyone could help me diagnose the problem. First the problem started when the laptop refused to turn on.So the lenovo laptop will not power up whatsoever even with a charger plugged in or with the battery removed and the charger plugged in. I replaced the battery and it turned on immidently but the battery slowly died and refused to charge. Now i am back to square one. I replaced the internal power jack where you plug the charger in and it still will not turn on and there is no lights indicating any power at all. Is is possible that a internal power cord can cause a battery to stop charging. Does anyone knwo what this could be? I know the computer motherboard is ok because when i replaced the battery the computer came on right away and the computer was fine but the battery refuses to charge.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 Issue

Hello Jenny, welcome to the forum.

Just a thought, but are you able to try another charger and/or charging cable? The fault may lie with one of these, rather than with the Yoga 13 itself?

Hi Guys,I know this issue has been discussed in other threadsI wanted to be sure! My Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Bluetooth device works in general, though sometimes - out of nowhere - it stops working.I go to the device manager and I see that there's an exclamation mark next to the BT Radio device.after I restart the computer or delete - refresh the device manager, the device get back to function as expected. I have this issue since day 1 of the laptop. both on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 and I tried like 4 different driver versions from Lenovo's website. I also installed the latest chipset drivers is my problem hardware or software related?should I take my desktop to Lenovo's lab?

Hello everyone ! I bought a Yoga 500 15 IBD a few days ago. Everything runs perfectly except the speakers. When I watch videos or listen to music, there are static noises everytime (like cracks). Has anyone encountered the same issue ? Is there a solution ? Thanks a lot F.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500 speakers issue

Hi FDE,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

We are really sorry to hear about the issue you are facing.

Is the sound ok when you plug-in an earphone or headset?

Can you try to enable loudness equalization and room correction under the Speaker Properties of the Sound Settings?

If it is, can you try to uninstall the Realtek HD Audio driver from the Control panel, reboot the PC, and then try to play the sounds using the generic sound drive. If it works ok, reinstall the sound driver below:

Windows 10 latest audio drivers
Windows 8.1 latest audio drivers

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get on.

Regards,
Shashi Kumar

I have a Yoga 13 running Windows 8.1 that has recently stopped connecting to my home wireless network. All the latest Windows Updates are installed at this time.I have uninstalled the Realtek Network device and the related drivers, rebooted and tested without luck. This unit sees the networks and if I enter a wrong password, it asks for a re-entry of the correct password.  When the correct password is entered it says "Checking Network Requirements" then fails with "Can't connect to this network"None of the troubleshooting services have been successful. All my other devices connect without any issues. I am runniing a Netgear R8000 Nighthawk wireless router. What is odd is that this laptop will connect to my iPhone 6 hotspot without any issues. I suspected a windows update may be the cause so I downloaded drivers from Lenovo for the wireless adapter.  Uninstalled the current ones, rebooted, and then installed the Lenove supplied drivers.  Still no joy. Any other suggestions short of a reinstall of the OS? Cheers! Hawkeye007

Starting this morning, my Lenovo Yoga 910 IKB appears to go through a system update . It has been going on for quite some time, the update takes up to 30% of the CPU and my battery life has decreased substantially. In addition, it says that it is a Lenovo System Update(32 bit), while I know that my system runs on 64 bit. My questions are:1. How long should a system update take?2. Is it normal that the system update is 32 bit?3. If it is not normal, how do I stop the system update and how do I run a 64 bit one?Thank you!

I have a web-camera issue with my notebook. It doesn't work. It used to work once or twice. But then suddenly something went wrong. Neither works mic. When I opened my windows 10 "Camera" app it said "Can't find camera". I checked device manager for drivers issues and couldn't find anything about camera. So I added a knew device "Lenovo EasyCamera". My "Camera" app still doesn't work. So I tried to fix in with Lenovo Settings. But there is no any camera folder in it. Reinstalling still didn't fix it. Also I tried installing drivers with official Lenovo website. Still nothing.

Hello, I just bought a Lenovo yoga 520 from a local retailer yesterday. It came with the Lenovo Active Pen. I tried to draw on Paint Tool SAI at night and I would just like to ask if it is normal that the tablet screen register my pinky (since it touches the screen first before the pen tip) before the actual pen? It is a bit distruptive when i am drawing because it will create a stroke by my pinky which I do not want. This morning when I tried to draw again, the pen to have some odd behavior. If I do a quick stroke/flick and lift my pen away from the screen, the stroke will not follow through and the screen is temporarily disabled and does not respond to mouse clicks or hand touches (as if I did not lift the pen up at all.) I have to tap the screen again with my pen and the stroke will connect to where I tapped. This issue does not happen when I wear a piece of cloth on my palm or if I draw the stroke slowly and life it up slowly. So I would just like to ask:1. If I buy a Bamboo styus (which I am aware is compatible with Yoga 520,) will I be able to draw faster strokes with smoother follow through?2. Is this a normal problem faced by fellow artists too?

Hi I have bought Lenovo Yoga 500 14 i3 six months ago. Several months ago on the left side of the screen appeared ghost touches. This ghosts touches were exactly on one line of the screen, it is about 6 centimetres from right edge. I went to warranty center and they changed the screen. Two months has passed. And exactly in the same screen line touch screen stoped to work. If to put laptop in 360degree mode - everything works ok.Here is the video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xnz_L_11f8Actually I am begining to want my money back.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500 14 Touch screen issue

Hi there, Alex -
Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Regarding the ghost punches/ghost touch, there were some isolated issues for that issue on some Yoga 700, in addition to that, there is also a fix for it. Please see this thread.
Can you try the following?

Under theDevice Manager> Human Interface Devices, can you do a right click and disable on anything that says HID-compliant device (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen).
When finished, reboot the system and observe if you still get the same issue.

Update us how it goes.

Hello, I have had a Lenovo Yoga 2 11 for 3 weeks and in that time since installing only Photoshop and Office, it has had periodic bouts of freezing. Freezing where the cursor does not work, where ctl+alt+del does not work, it is totally non-responsive requiring manual shut down. Looking for solutions here online, some suggestion were that it was driver issues for other people. I uninstalled some programs that were said to have helped in this thread https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Idea-Windows-based-Tablets-and/Yoga-2-Pro-Freezing-BSODs-and-restarting... I am still experiencing issues Some advice in non-technincal terms would be much appreciated.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 2 11 freezing.. Driver issue?

I'm having this exact issue too, just bought a Yoga 2 11 refurbished and it freezes ramdomly, mouse doesn't respond, ctrl+Alt+Del no avail, only way out is rebooting it. Event viewer only register Event ID 41 Kernel-Power "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly".  There's also Event ID 1 "DptfPolicyConfigTDPDll DptfSetConfigTdpLevel: DeviceIoControl() failed" but can't find any aditional info online. It happened with win8, keeps hapenning with 8.1 I've also unistalled McAfee AV and still freezed one time. I'm running out of ideas. Any help will be greatly appreciated Thanks F
