Lenovo flex laptop will not start up

Question: Lenovo flex laptop will not start up

MY computer had been acting very slow for a while and nothing would start up, and if it did it would take literrally five minutes. Now it will not go to start up screen and it will stay on a black screen. I can move the mouse and I can see the mouse arrow, but no matter how long I wait, it just stays there. Any ideas on what to do?

Preferred Solution: Lenovo flex laptop will not start up

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello my name is Dylan and I need some help with my laptop. I tried to contact Lenovo with an e-mail but I don't know how, so I am posting on here for help. I would just like to know how to fix my laptop to get it working right.tuallySo, when I start up my laptop, the keyboard lights up, the fan turns on, and the screen turns on but is all black. The Lenovo logo does not come up. There are usually small beeping noises that keep going. The only thing I can access is actually the Boot Menu / App Menu, but I cannot find a way to get my computer to work as normal. I usually run Windows 10.

My two year old Flex 2 suddenly wont turn on.   The power button lights up and the fan starts but the screen remains black.  I have let the power drain completely (you cannot remove the battery)  pressed the power button for 15sec x 4 then connected to the charger and still a blank screen.   the last timed I did attempt a "hard restart", everytime I held the power button a loud bleep occured which stopped when I let go of the power button.   Its warranty has expired and im not very knowledgable.  I am happy to send it away to be looked at, just dont know the best place to send it in the UK.  Any help?N

When I push the start button on right side of the notebook, it will begin to start up.  The 'Lenovo' screen comes on but then the screen goes black and does not start.  I try pushing the start button again but not until I push it for a third time will the windows come up on the screen.  Is this normal or is there a problem I should have fixed?  thanks

Hello, I recently purchased Lenovo Flex 5 (14") laptop (Part Number:  80XA0011US). This comes with 16.0GB DDR4 2133 MHz and 1TB 5400 RPM+128GB PCIe SSD.  My question is as follows: Can I upgrade the Hard Drive to more capacity like 256 GB SSD or 512 GB SSD in future? If yes, can I get this done via Lenovo Support or do I need to do it on my own? Basically, I just want to know if the System provides me the ability to upgrade Hard Drive - both HDD and SSD.

I got the Lenovo Flex 3 15 as a gift. A few things that bothered me and the one I gave it to were the screen, sound, and mouse pad. Screen quality was good, except it did not seem to get bright enough. When watching a show on Netflix, it was darker than it shouldve been despite having brightness all the way up. The resolution was good except everything seemed too small. I was able to adjust that, but while things were bigger, everything was a tiny bit blurry. The sound was very disappointing. Quality was poor and it did not get loud enough. Lastly, the touch pad was just way too slick. Too easy to slide your finger around on.
Now I guess you get what you pay for. But the laptop performance wise was great. I dont know why they couldnt make the screen go brighter or beef up the sound. Its 2015. People expect to stream music/movies. Good sound now should be standard.
So now I am returning it. But have no idea what to get in its place. The person who is receiving this doesnt game. Basically a casual user but uses the laptop for music/movies/shows also. Id like to get something with a decent screen size, and doesnt weigh a ton. Something that can be upgraded to Windows 10. Any ideas? Looking to spend about $800

Answer:Looking for a laptop after disappointment with Lenovo Flex 3 15

Well you could get the surface 3 128gb model, keyboard and pen for $700 with a student discount.
Other options would be - if you had to buy it from Microsoft Store:
1) Acer R 13 Buy Acer Aspire R 13 R7-371T Signature Edition 2 in 1 PC - Microsoft Store
2) ASUS Transformer Book T300 Chi Buy ASUS Transformer Book T300 Chi Signature Edition 2 in 1 PC - Microsoft Store
I'm sure you'll find plenty of other options if you to shopped around on manufacturer websites - for example
ASUS ZENBOOK UX305FA @ $849.
The Inspiron 15 7000 series i7 Model @ $799 (base)
The base model for the Lenovo Yoga 2 is at $599.

Hi All, Need some help regarding my flex 5 laptop. Got it 3 days from a deal from a retailer, laptop has everything I want except the display. The colors of the display are very much faded/washed out even on 100% brightness. faint blue looks gray, blue looks like teal. Quite annoying. I compared the screens with my old laptop ( T410) and there is a big difference in the colors. Is it due to the hardware or because of some windows/lenovo settings? Below are some of the details of the PC: Flex 5-1470 (Type 81C9) Laptop (Lenovo) Machine Model : 81C9000EUS 2GB NVIDIA GeForce 940MX Graphics Intel® Core? i5-8250U Processor 14" Touchscreen LED-backlit IPS FHD (1920 x 1080) Display Any help will be appreciated.

Hi all, I am stumped here. We have a Lenovo Flex 2-15 Laptop running Windows 8.1 Version 6.3 (Build 9600). It is running Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.17498. JavaScript version is 1.3. The Lenovo's MTM# is 59418265 It's MO# WB04092903 The laptop needs to use a web-based application that throws an script exception that it can't handle. I have the errors and the code up on pastebin: http://pastebin.com/ERuPcda1  The application just calls a javascript function that opens another window. I didn't write the code, we're just an end user of it. No other desktop PC or laptop we have experiences this error. For example, we have an HP 15-G020DX laptop running the same version of Windows 8.1 and the same version of Internet Explorer. The web-based application works properly on this laptop with no errors. Thanks for any assistance! John

Hi, I just got my laptop 2 days ago, it's brand new. I find quite slow, not something core i7 perform like. It took 2-3 minutes to start up the systems/windows. I compare to my other core i5 laptop, it takes less than a minute to start the windows, way more faster than core i7 lenovo. Sometimes it will freeze a program, and i have no choice but wait or use task manager to kill it. And the IE browser is horrible to use, it always slow and unresponsive. I always use photoshop and dreamveawer and other adobe products. I think this laptop should not have any problem on handling all of these programs. It should be faster on using these programs, but I find it quite annoying that it always unresponsive for a few seconds before I can go to my next action. Some of the program take more than a minute to start up. Anyone facing the same like me? I really need help on this. Reply me please~~~

Answer:Slow on brand new lenovo flex 2-15 laptop

I'm having the same problem too. Only when my program freezes (mainly when trying to connect to the Internet) it is not even open on task manager and will stay up on my desktop without being able to click on it. My laptop is also a day old.

First of all, in spite of the timing of this post (posting the same day that the update is becoming available for most people), this isn't Windows 10.1/115 (I forget the update's nickname) related (this computer hasn't updated yet). A few days ago, the trackpad stopped working. (It worked fine for about 3 months with Windows 10, and roughly a year with Windows 8.1)

I tried the device manager "uninstall device" thing, which often works. In this case, however, detect hardware did not detect the trackpad after uninstalling.
I've tried all drivers I can find, including the latest driver per Lenovo's website (plus the one Windows update installs, ironically newer than Lenovo's website
I've tried uninstalling the program, but it doesn't lead to any success after reinstalling later
The device does list itself in the trackpad/mouse properties panel in the systray, I don't know if that means it's being detected somewhere, or if it's because the driver is installed. It's an Alps pointing device, 8.201.1611.249
In System Information, then Components, then Problem Devices, the pointing devise shows up, as "Lenovo pointing device", with message "This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed."
On this device, the F6 key is the one that activates/deactivates the trackpad normally, but nothing happens, no feedback, and no magical fix. For comp... Read more

Hello all,

I have a problem installing windows 7 on my new windows 10 laptop. I find it very weird how I change settings in the BIOS to support all legacy stuff like windows 7 and I try to boot from USB all the way to dvd and nothing works. What I mean is when it is done booting, it says " No drivers were found" and there's not a hard drive for me to choose windows 7. It's weird though because there are windows 7 drivers on the official support page, yet I can't install it?

I just need to see a hard drive listed but nothing pops up, and yes I've formatted it already using diskpart.

Thanks

I have decided on purchasing a convertible laptop and I'm currently choosing between these two (I should note that the online stores that I'm linking are in Romanian, however if you scroll down you can see the specs of each laptop clearly):
Lenovo Flex 2: www emag ro/ultrabook-lenovo-flex-2-cu-procesor-intelr-coretm-i5-4210u-1-70ghz-haswelltm-touch-screen-14-4gb-500gb-8gb-sshd-nvidia-geforce-840m-2gb-microsoft-windows-8-1-red-59425386/pd/DW3ZZBBBM/
Asus TP500LN-DN136H: www emag ro/laptop-convertibil-asus-transformer-book-flip-cu-procesor-intelr-coretm-i5-4210u-1-70ghz-haswelltm-fullhd-touchscreen-4gb-1tb-24gb-mssd-nvidia-gt840-2gb-microsoft-windows-8-1-black-tp500ln-dn136h/pd/DKF35BBBM/
The prices in dollars for the two are 775 dollars for the Lenovo and 900 dollars for the Asus. I should note that I am okay with sacrificing the Asus's SSD, the 500 extra GB of storage space, the 15.6 inch screen for a 14 inch one, as well as the possibility to go into full on tablet mode for the 125 dollar difference. However, I would like to know if, outside of these differences in specs, there would be any strong reasons which would make it worth it to shell the extra money for the Asus.
Thanks in advance!

Also can I buy any internal SSD or is there something I need to consider? I was thinking about Samsung 850 EVO Series SSD - 1TB.Thanks for your help!!!Best regards, Michael

Hi, I have a Lenovo Flex 4-1470 that is runnign windows 10 and has an Intel AC-8260 wireless card. I am having problems whenever I try to connect to a specific wifi network. I can connect to my home network just fine but when I connect to the network at work I shut down the entire network (it has probably around 5 or 6 acccess points). The strange thing is that this problem with the work network just started a month ago, before that I was able to connect to the network just fine. I have tried a bunch of stuff including reinstalling the network card driver. Also, I didn't make any changes to the laptop around the time the problem started. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

My Flex 3 display has recently started flipping upside down into "tent mode" randomly. I have verified the setting in the diplay properties change to 180 with each flip and the problem corrects if I change back to 0 degrees, but the screen just flips again.  Hotkeys fix the problem and locking rotation also fixes, but if I don't lock the auto rotate, it happens all the time.  It never used to do this.  I have wiped the computer and reset to factory settings and this still did not fix the problem.  Any suggestions? TIA

Thx in advance for your help.

Answer:Lenovo laptop flex 15 has blue screen w/ intelpep.sys error 0xc000007b

Bad driver. WhoCrashed will tell you in plain language why that is happening. The file is actually intelppm.sys, which is a part of Windows and allows it to communicate between the APU/CPU/GPU. This error has been around since Windows XP. There is no real fix for when it happens, because it has gone on for so long that Microsoft has not figured out why.

The only thing that you can do is roll back to a previous restore point before you started getting this error. Last resort would be reinstalling Windows 10 as a Clean update with the ISO from microsoft.com, not the Lenovo OEM.

Hello, My parents have owned a Lenovo laptop for a couple of years now. However, recently this issue showed up and I wondered whether there is a chance there is a solution to this problem which I could try myself, since the laptop its warranty already expired. If I recall correctly, the model of the laptop is the Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 2, running Windows 10. So here is the issue; the laptop has issues turning on. Oddly enough, it is not a very consistent issue. Eventually, the laptop does turn on. The problem is that this sometimes takes hours, other times the laptop appears to be able to boot instantly as it normally would. I have no idea what affects this. When pressing the power button, the keyboard backlight starts flashing. It does this until the laptop completely boots, and as I said, the amount of time this takes varies. I already tried looking for solutions on different forums, but they usually concern the issue where the keyboard backlight flashed and the laptop simply will not boot at all, which is not the case here, as it eventually does but often it takes a while.Other solutions suggested a certain amount of flashes meant a certain issue or failure. Problem here is that the amount of flashes seem to be random, so it is not as if it just keeps looping a certain amount of flashes as it varies. This leaves me puzzled as to what could be the culprit. I am not sure what to do, especially since I have not owned a Windows-based machine in a whi... Read more

Hi itsasin,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you have the machine number or MTM to verify the model (you can also get from here)?

Isolating the point of failure may be necessary to determine if the delay on start up is a power issue or a boot problem.
Try removing the harddrive so we can test if the machine can power faster.
You can download the hardware manual from the support website for removal guide.

Update us how it goes.

Hello everyone. Few days ago my laptop has made some update itself. And now I got few problems. First I noticed that my Google Chrome started to NOT respond. Then I couldn't even open any Folder on my PC. I tried to reset it with 10 second pressing on/off button. But nothing has changed. On the second day when I tried to zoom in on my Touch Screen, noticed that it doesn't work. Neither does keyboard on screen working. I have reinstalled my PC. Waited for half a day.... and it showed ALPS Apoint2k isn't working. I have tried everything. Downloading new drivers from manufacturer, scaning Windows and all that. Today I found out that there is no Tablet PC settings on my laptop anymore. When writing in Windows Search TABLET PC SETTINGS, it comes that " Tablet Buttons are not installed on this computer" "For more information, check the documentation that came with your computer or go to the computer manufacturer's website" Can anyone help me,please?((

Hi , Signanandup                    -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Unfortunately the GEforce Card is built in you cannot upgrade to another one, the only 2 things you can upgrade are the HDD & RAM.

Is your drive well defragged? That system should run fairly well. Run CCleaner, clean off some junk files. Make sure the power settings are configured for optimal performance.

Update us how it goes.

I've been using conservation mode for my new (1 month) lenovo laptop every time I put the AC adapter in it. I thought that this was going to help me endure my battery life, but in the end I've stacked with the fact, that battery's stamina went much more lower. For example, I could use my laptop in a battery economy mode/conservation turned off for 5-6 hours, now it barely lasts 3 hrs with the same settings and the same pattern of usage. Just for record, 21 minute of watching a film costs my battery from 10-20% now, while before it was not an issue at all, I hardly can tell that it drained me more than 5%. Also, right now, while typing this, I've noticed, that behaviour of my percentage bar is also really strange: first it shows 75%, then, after 5 minutes, it showes 73%, without getting through 74%. And as a one big plus to that, my battery status says that my battery is normal, just normal, while before it was great or something like that. I find it strange because it is 1 month old notebook, as I mentioned earlyer. Now I am trying to recalibrate my battery, for the 3d time, hoping it would help me, but I really wish to hear your opinion about that, maybe there is something that I don't know about, something that can help me. P.S. It is 70% now, gezus

Just unboxed my Lenovo Flex 3 and so far I pretty much love it. My only problem is I cannot access the "Lenovo Settings" app on Windows 8.1. It asks if I want to send info back to the devs to help with the app but then it freezes and sends me back to the desktop. Is there a fix for this problem? Also, I am unsure how to change my preferences for my trackpad. I go to Control Panel, but there is no option for "Mouse" like I am used to to adjust my touch preferences. Any help on this too?  Thanks guys,Stephen

I tried to hard reset my laptop cause it was taking so much time then it ended up stuck on the logo... Now I'm the one with the blue sad face...

Hope you guys can help me as soon as possible., thanks in advance..

Answer:lenovo flex 15 is stuck on lenovo logo

Right, you mentioned it turned blue with a sad face, that is a Blue Screen of Death (or proper term is Kernel bugcheck) which indicates something has gone wrong.

Two days ago my cats knocked my laptop off my desk and then knocked a glass of water on top of it! Arrgh.(anyone looking to adopt 2 frisky cats?)After drying out for 2 days it won't start at all. No lights nothing. I took it apart when it happened and wiped down whatever i could but because of how it landed, like a tent *** end up, i thought the motherboard and keyboard hadn't been affected so i didn't take off the top and check, silly me. So now I would like to do that but am not certain how it's done and don't want to mess it up, well anymore than it is of course. So here are my questions:
1) how do I take off top to check motherboard?
2) what am I looking at in terms of possible problem areas and how do I address them?
Its really important to have inexpensive solutions because I'm disabled and have little in the way of extra income. My computer is my pretty much my only entertainment and without it...well I'm sure you all understand.
Thx for all you do. Looking forward to any solutions out there.

Hey guys,

Since a few days my Lenovo laptop won't properly start up anymore, it doesn't even start Windows anymore. When I press the power button, the screen shows a black screen saying the white Lenovo logo, then a black screen with white text (just a normal startup screen). After this, however, it either shuts down immediately, or alternates between the two previously mentioned screens for a few minutes, and then shuts down.
It does make a lot of noise when it alternates between the two screens (a buzzing noise) so it sounds like it's at least trying to do something.

I don't really know much about laptops, so I'll just give you all the information the laptop says:
Brand: Lenovo
Operating system: Windows 7
Intel core i5
Bottom left of the screen it says U310', and bottom right of the keyboard it says ideapad, I'm guessing one of these is the type/model.

I hope someone can help me!

Ps. While typing this I've noticed that it tries to start up sometimes, without me touching it.

Answer:Lenovo laptop won't start up

Oh, and what I've tried so far is pressing f8, f2 and f12 (suggestions from other forums). Might be good to mention the laptop doesn't have a cd drive either, since I've seen suggestions involving this as well.

After switching on the power light comes on and the hd light comes on but after a second or so there is a clicking sound and the cd/dvd drawer lights up and then just the power indicator and battery indicator stay on and nothing else happens, I've tried switching it on and off a few times and with and without the power adaptor and still the same.

Answer:Lenovo Laptop won't start

The clicking sound would indicate a failed hard disk. The DVD lighting up would be the BIOS trying to boot from the CD because it cant find the hard disk. You can download a diagnostic from Lenvo and boot it from a CD. For that you need a working computers with the ability to burn an ISO to CD. Don't be put off by the fact the the disk is Linux. It will still work on a windows computer as the installed OS is irrelevant at this stage.http://support.lenovo.com/en_GB/dow...Stuart

Replacing is not that easys as with other laptops / tablett, as there are no service doors on the back. You might need to take off the whole back plate with '1000's of screws ;-)( But there is a related service manual around ).ref. to warranty it might depend on local rules, get them a call to verifiy

Hi,I just received my Lenovo Flex 20 today and i was very dissapointed to find out that wireless display was not supported. I thought it will be compatible as i checked the Graphics card and processor prior of buying it but unfortunately it doesnt have a compatible wireless card. I really need widi for my job as i want to present everything wirelessly on another compatible WIDI TV . I was wondering whether if i buy The INTEL 7260AC wireless card and upgrade the system if i will be able to use widi. Will the system accept this wireless card? And if yes will i then just be able to install WI-DI software and make it functional? I just wanted to add that i already tried another 2 x card (which i took out from my laptop - A Railink card made in 2010 and from an old HP MINI netbook - A Broadcom card) and they had been accepted by the lenovo flex 20. What are your thoughts then? Will INTEL 7260AC be accepted by Lenovo Flex 20? If yes will this be enough to enable widi after installing appropriate software? Thanks for your kind help!

Answer:LENOVO FLEX 20 WI-DI

Hi BLueArMy, welcome to the forum!

I don't know if you can install a Intel 7260AC wireless card in your Flex, however: if you are running Win 8.1 (update 1) you shouldn't need to upgrade the card. Win 8.1 has the ability to use Miracast, to wirelessly connect to your compatible TV.

I have the Lenovo A520, with a Realtek RTL8188CUS Wireless card, and it connects well with my Belkin SreenCast F7D4501 unit. I bought the Belkin ScreenCast to connect, via WiDi, my Y470 with Win 7. After I received the A520, and updated the  Win 8, to Win 8.1, I noticed that I had the "Connect To Another Wireless Device" in the charm bar Devices display. Just make sure you have the WiDi unit (or the setting in your TV) turned on, and the TV input is selected.

It may take you a little tweaking to get it all set up. IIRC on the first setup, my A520 needed to download some Windows updates during the process. After that, all of the remote display settings are under the Intel HD Graphics manager.

Let us all know how it goes.

Cheers

Question: Lenovo Flex 10

Problem: Press power button, turns on and no display. Press power button to turn off then press to turn on, doesn't turn on but power button light is flashing. Plug in the charger and turn the Flex 10 off and on again, still not on. Tapping the keyboard, touchpad hoping something happens, no. Give it a couple more seconds then it turns on. Lenovo loading sign comes up then goes to blue screen saying "collecting data because there was an error then will restart for you", restarts. "There was an error with loading Windows. Given two options; option 1: Choose a recovery setting or option 2: restart". Both options have been clicked before and nothing has happened. This time tried choosing option 1 again and the screen starts flickering and Flex 10 turns off. Flex 10 has been opened from the back to check if memory, HDD and all else is correctly in place.  Any solutions? Could the battery be the problem? Is it worth replacing it altogether? Thanks,Scott

Im sure this is a common issue but my programs in Windows 7 will not open after initial start up. The computer boots up into Windows 7 just fine and everything appears in order. However, if I open any program such as Google chrome or a game, it will not open at all and does not display an error message. Sometimes if I quickly open a program while the computer is still opening programs, it may open briefly but sometimes freeze. I am assuming it is a conflicting driver issue or program but no new hardware was installed.
This recently all started happening for no real reason as I had not downloaded or installed any hardware or programs when this happened.

Everything seems to work better in safe mode (although occasionally, some programs will also not boot up). I've tried all the usual options such as a clean boot (did not work at all), system restore (also didn't solve the issue), tried Repair in the boot up, tried opening msconfig, and also tried running Malwarebytes and anti-virus software in safe mode and so far nothing has been detected.
Im not sure if it is a driver issue as everything seems updated and the laptop is relatively new and hardly ever used with only a few installed programs since its purchase. I am running the laptop just fine in safe mode for the most part and can figure out what to do next.
Also, since the laptop was store bought, I don't have a Windows 7 install disc to re-install Windows. It was preloaded.

Im all out of options at this point. ... Read more

Answer:Lenovo laptop drive opens by itself when I start my machine?

Since the machine is still brand new and you haven't done much with it, I would run the OneKey Recovery program and restore the system back to its original configuration.  From what you described it almost sounds like there is a remnant left over from a software installed that is prompting you to insert a CD/DVD.  The OneKey Recovery may resolve that issue.  Page #23 of your model's User Guide explains how to do a OneKey Recovery.

Hello, I have a 6-7 month old G570,  with legitimate WIN 7 Pro 64 bit OS. Earlier I updated BIOS to v2.10 Few days ago I downloaded 40cn32ww_64bit file to update BIOS, to v2.18. For some reason laptop crashed and since then it does not boot windows but gets to a point where 2 option comes up: to start a repair or to start windows normally. I did several times a repair but still does not boot as it did but goes to a point  to reboot. I also checked the BIOS utility by pressing F2 at the start-up to enter setup to BIOS Utility (InsydeH2O) and there I see the BIOS version is v2.18 and the EC version is v2.10. My understanding is both should be v.2.18. Is there an option to help me to fix the BIOS by reinstalling it with USB Stick in MS-DOS ? Or other ways? RegardsEndre

When i Switch on my Lenovo Y410 laptop, after the LENOVO welcome page, it goes to black screen. But it was was not the LCD screen problem as i can still access the BIOS. But when i press F8 try to access the safe mode, after i enter, after a few lines "multi(0)..partition(1)...' my screen just hang over there...it cant proceed me to the safe mode screen to back up my data. How can i back up my data? As lots of my documents are at the "Desktop". I cant use the OneRecovery Key' as once i use it, all my data in C drive will lost. So how? Any Suggestions for me to back up my data before format it?

Answer:Urgent Help:Black Screen for my Lenovo Y410 laptop while start up

First, two ways I can think of to back up your data: 1. Remove hard drive from laptop and place in a external enclosure. You will need a 2.5 inch enclosure with a SATA internal interface.Very common, and resonable price.Access the drive from another computer and copy your files to a flash drive,or external hard drive, and restore to laptop when problem solved. 2. Attach a external hard drive/flash drive and boot with a Linux live disk.Linux Mint should work with the Y410, or Ubuntu, or many others.Find and transfer your files to the external drive. Both options require some knowledge of how to find the files, and a external device of some type. If you are not familiar with Linux, and how to download and create a live disk, the first option wouldpossibly be easier. When using a flash drive, make sure it is large enough tohold your files. I have used both methods with sucess. Second, I assume you have Vista on your computer?Whichever OS you have, there are ways to attempt to repair your startup problem. If you did not create recovery disks, find someone with a generic Windowsinstall disk in the matching OS. Boot with this, and you can attempt repair withrecovery options available. This is a different topic, and others may have some good pointers for you.

Hi,This is my first post. I have just brought a Lenovo Flex 10 with a celeron n 2807 chip. I asked in the shop if they could do an ssd upgrade and they said they wouldn't recommend it because the celeron n2807 chip is not good enough to run an SSD internal flash drive. Would anyone recomened upgrading the interneral storage from the 5400rpm hard drive to an SSD?

Answer:Lenovo Flex 10 SSD upgrade

Pardon my lack of confidence in your shop, but that's a joke. SSDs will improve PC's right back to the beginning of the SATA offering. I have a NUC with the following Celeron:http://ark.intel.com/products/79052/Intel-Celeron-Processor-N2820-1M-Cache-up-to-2_39-GHzThere is a huge performance gain from running an SSD on these. The only factor in whether or not to get an SSD should be if the size within your budget will hold all your data.

Not sure whats going on with the website, I entered in my serial number to make sure I was getting the specific drivers.  But nearly all the pieces of hardware have two different drivers. I havent had to download any yet so far since I havent done too much.  But, when it came down to video card drivers it listed Nvidia drivers and when I tried to install it it said that the compatible hardware was not found. Shouldnt there be only one driver? I mean.. maybe multiple versions, but they are listed completely different so I would believe they are different drivers completely.

My Lenovo Flex won't respond at all when I try to wake it up from sleep mode. I've tried to unplug it and hold the power button down for 30 seconds, but the light just keeps flashing. It's been unplugged all day, so to help battery should be really low, but it's not turning off. Any ideas or suggestions on what to do? I go back to classes soon and I need it for my classes, so I really need it up and running asap.

Answer:Lenovo Flex Won't Wake Up

This seems to be a widespread issue with Lenovo laptops for a very long time, but there appears to be very little effort being taken by Lenovo support to provide its customers with the solution, or a document with the steps to resolve the issue. Holding the power button down for 30 seconds should (on nearly all laptops and desktop computers) forces a hard power off, but apparently that does not work on Lenovo Laptops when they gets stuck in this state. From what I can gather from various forums on the Internet, the only way to get the system booting again, sort of waiting until the battery dies, is to remove the rear cover, and unplug the battery, wait a minute or so, and and then pug it back in.   Some users also report that updating the video driver, and perhaps the BIOS, will resolve the issue, but Lenovo Support has chosen to remain silent (publicly anyway) on which one, if any, is an actual fix on any of the many forum posts regarding the error, which leads me to believe that they haven't a clue. You do not mention what exact model of Flex you have, so I cannot point you too any of the instructions online on how to remove your cover and unplug the battery, so you might post the model number (not the serial number) in the forum,  or open a ticket with Lenovo Support, although I sounds like their phone support has not been too much help for others.  Good Luck,

Hi guys, I have a Lenovo Flex 2-15, model name 20405,i3-4030U @ 1.9 GHz 6GB Ram etc. and was wondering if there's a M.2 NGFF on the motherboard of this laptop cause I want to use an SSD as a boot drive and my HDD as a mass storage. I don't really want to replace the HDD with a SSD though. I'm trying to buy this SDD. Can anyone give me any insight? I've been getting mixed information in some posts saying that some have m2 ports and some do not. I haven't opened my laptop yet. Thanks !

Answer:Lenovo Flex 2-15 m.2 ssd slot?

Bump anyone?

HiI have a Lenovo flex 2 14 with mechanical hard drive. I bought an SSD to switch it but I encountered a problem opening the laptop.I followed the manual here:http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_flex_2_14_flex_2_14d_flex_2_15_flex_2_15d_hmm... I started by removing the keyboard, all went well.then came the part where it said to remove the optical drive, having no optical drive (14 inch don?t have it) I just skipped this part, the next part was taking off the back panel, I took all the screw off and then started peeling the panel off starting at the front. The back side of the panel didn?t seem to go out.Instead of using more pressure I stopped because i realized maybe the 14 inch version has something similar to the optical drive removal that needs to be done before the back panel removal. the manual just list the optical drive removal as a step, without any clarification about the 14 inch version. Anyone has experience with opening up the 14 version and can help?

Hi, I had the same problem, and I had missed one screw under the keyboard that has a lenovo sticker on. Remove the sticker and you'll find the last screw  There are 3 screws in total under the keyboard.

I am looking to get a decent stylus so I can take better notes using my Flex 4, but I have found that none of the active stylus on Amazon say that they work specifically for the Flex 4. I contacted support through web chat earlier and they informed me that if it says Lenovo Yoga 900, it should work. If it's marked for the Yoga 900s, would it still work? Does anyone happen to have a suggestion for a stylus that will be primarily used for taking notes and writing in general?

I'm getting a new Lenovo Flex 2 15.The problem is that it comes only with 256GB SSD, which is not enough for my needs. My question is if there's a place inside to add also an HDD drive. Thanks!

Answer:Lenovo Flex 2 15 storage

It looks like you could replace the main drive with a larger 7mm drive, or you can add another NGFF SSD.http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_flex_2_14_flex_2_14d_flex_2_15_flex_2_15d_hmm...

My wife's Flex 14 stopped charging. I am thinking that battery is old and need replacement (I hope), but when I look on the Lenovo site, I do not see the battery. I tried contacting Lenovo, who argued with me that the battery is sealed (wrong), but finally send me to Emcompass parts. They looked up the serial number and was able to correctly identify the computer, but could not find the part number for the battery. They then transfer me to Geek Squad for some reason. I did see a few battery on sale at Amazon, but they appear to be greatly smaller in capacity (2200 instead of 3560 ma). Anyone know how I can order the higher capacity battery or at least locate the actual part number ? Is this normal, I never had issue getting batteries for my Dells. Paul

Hi all! I have this notebook since March, it is absolutely fantastic. But there is a very annoying problem: the fan noise. Each time I open an application or surfing on the web, the fan starts (most times only for few seconds): it seems that  as soon as the cpu reaches 20-30% of usare, the fan starts. Is there a solution? I have the last bios update, it seems that it is impossible to control the fan in any way. Thanks all.

HelloI don't know if I am writing in the right place and sorry for my English.I am interested in a flex 14 reference 59410432:-core i5 4200U-4GB of ram-1TB HDD-nvidia GT820m I read on some forum that there was a mSATA port on flex 14, but I feel this is a pci-e port for wifi wlan card, already installed.Failing this, is there a M2 port? This is to see if it's possible to connect a mSATA or M2 SSD (as a crucial m4 for example) in addition to the original hard drive of 1TB. Thank you for your answer and help! réré

I have a new Lenovo Flex 10 running Windows 8.1 64 bit. I also have a set of Creative Wireless t30 speakers. My lenovo initially connected to the speakers and it was fine but after the first time it won't find them again. I actually tried rebuilding the system as it was new and it wasn't a big problem. Same thing happened - connected first time and then won't connect again. There are updated drivers etc on the lenovo website but I don't want to start randomly installing updates if they are not related or not going to fix the problem. Anyone else having a problem or can suggest a way forward. Thanks.

Answer:Bluetooth on Lenovo Flex 10

hi xh28,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

I haven't seen this case on the Flex 10 but you may want to consider doing the following:

1. If you're trying to pair the Creative Wireless T30 speakers via Charms > PC & Devices (the Flex 10 can see the speakers butg won't connect), try to:
  - press the Windows key? +R, type control printers and press Enter. On the list of paired devices, check if you have the Creative Wireless T30 speakers on the list and remove it.

2. Open the Blueooth Settings (notification area > bluetooth tray icon) and ensure that the following settings are checked:
   - allow Bluetooth devices to find this computer
   - allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer
   - Link to picture
   - when finished, reset the Creative Wireless T30 speakers to the default settings (see this guide) and pair it using this guide.
   - after pairing the bluetooth speaker & successfuly setting it as the default playback device, try to disconnect it and pair it again (reboot if necessary)

The other day my lenovo flex 2.14 (running on windows 10) went into what I can only assume was sleep mode: the power light was flashing (which the usermanuel says indicates sleep mode). I read somewhere that taking the battery out and holding the power button for 30 seconds would help (something to do with draining charge or something). I couldn't get access ot the battery as I didn't  have any screws so I took the charger out and tried the same thing, put the charge back in and hey presto it seemed to work. - Then the same thing happened again a few days later, but the same solution didn't seem to work. This time I managed to take the back off - but then didn't know where the battery was. I carried on pressing the power button and disconnected any wires that I could see (turns out these were the ones to the wireless card) and reconnected them. At some point the sleep button turned off and wouldn't turn on again, at this point I put the charger back in and the computer started working again. - Then , a few days later, the same thing happened AGAIN, this time I worked out where the battery, but couldn't work out how to disconnect it. While I was fiddling with it trying work out how to do so (I should point out that I never managed to disconnect it) the sleep light turned off and wouldn't turn on again. I plugged the charger in, still nothing would turn on or off, I screwed the battery back in place and HEY it turned on. - I had to travel to London the ... Read more

Hi there,Well, here it goes...i bought a lenovo flex 2-14 last year May for home use. I am the only person using it as my husband got his own. Also i use it very seldom and that too for short hours only. I am person who always prefers being organized.  Last Sunday, i had used my laptop to surf over internet. After finishing with my work, i shut down, closed the lcd pane and left it on the table. Neither me or my husband had touched it after that. I again went to it on last friday, and shocked to see that it was craked from near the camera to the right side of the lcd.. It had not fallen down, not banged against wall, put on power, left heavy object on it, and nothing. I dont want to pay for a product fault. And its stlll within warranty period. I haven't yet contact any service support person. Wll keep updated once, having talked with them.People make advanced technology with defects to earn continuously.

Hi everybody! I bought a lenovo flex 2 pro and it is a very good product, but I have a little problem that is very annoying. Even if I am surfing with Google Chrome and I open facebook page, the fan start for few seconds. The temperature is 35*(displayed in lenovo settings app). Is there an option to change fan behaviour? I have updated to last bios. Thanks everybody

Answer:Lenovo Flex 2 Pro Fan Noise

up: I noticed that the "problem" is that when I open facebook page for example, the temperature raise to 50° and the fan starts. Is there an option to control the fan? Unfortunately there isn't in the bios and SpeedFan can't recognize it
