Question: HP Support Assistant - does it support HP printers

I think the revamped Support Assistant is brilliant - especially for drivers where it checks your PC, rather than give you a list of driver updates for your model, as the old website-based Driver Update checker did. It has an "Add a device" facility but it doesn't find my HP DCP_J315W printer, connected via wireless. Does Support Assistant support printers? edited 08:07: typo

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

my OS is vista home premium 32-bit.

but everytime i run hp support assistant i get this error.

Even Hp Wireless Assistant is not working or not opening at all. Recently just flash bios, then installed wireless drives and finially installed wireless assitant but still now solution. same problem not opening at all. but wireless card is working fine and i can easily connect to the internet, therefore there is no wireless problem.

Because of hp wireless assistant, i am unable to turn on Bluetooth because previously when hp wireless assistant was working at that time i had ennabled wireless and disabled bluetooth. Now i am unable to turn on the bluetooth because of this.
Can anyone suggest me any alternative way to enable the bluetooth without hp wireless assistant.

Question: support assistant

I just finished rebuilding my HP ENVY TouchSmart 17? m7-j120dx Notebook PC  with Windows 10 Professional (I did not do a recovery; I just booted from the ISO and installed a clean OS).  I would like to install the HP Support Assistant and I found the link to download it and I installed it but the only thing that appears to have installed is the HP Support Solutions Framework.  I have an HP ENVY Phoenix 860-180st Desktop to use as a reference and I see an actual HP Support Assistant in Add/Remove Programs on it but on my Notebook, I only see the Framework.  Any suggestions?  Thanks

Some of the HP drivers were lost (HP 4480 desktop All-In-One) when I D/L W-10. Went to HP.com and replaced all drivers. All is well, except, I now have HP support assistant in my startup taskbar location. It is not listed in taskbar start section. Read where it can be beneficial, so maybe not uninstall it,,,just stop from startup.  Would like advice whether if it were NOT in startup, would it crash my other printer functions...? I go to the HP SUpport Assistant and check for updates. I select a driver to be updated,then  download and install it. After the installation is complete, I go to the Action Log, which gives a date the driver was installed. However, the Install Now icon is highlighted and can still be selected. Why, if the driver was installed, am I still given the option of selecting the icon and installing the driver (again)?

Does anyone know anything about the HP Support Assistant (HPSA)? Mine has stopped working. It will not update or display any information. I have uninstalled and re-installed several times with the same result.

I have attached a screenshot of what I get when I open the HPSA.

I am using the HP Pavilion All in One 23-q112 with Windows 10 Home 64-bit.

I have the latest version of HP Support Assistant 7.0.39.15.   I also have Windows 7 64 bit. My question is about the Action Log under Updates and Tune Ups.  How do you delete the messages in the Action Log?? I have several there since February. thank you

I"ve tried to open Support Assistant in all the ways possible and it will not open. The only link I have to it is in "Start", "help and support", and when I click on HP Product Assistant, I get a box saying "The software program is not found" - yet I have installed (successfuly?) it twice. It is not found in "Control Panel" nor is ther any icon anywhere. How can I create a connection between the link and the program - if indeed it is on my PC. I have a desktop Hp Pavillion Model #: p6120t

Hello My computer is HP Pavilion 500-205eo and operating system is Windows 10 (64 bit). After november 2015 windows 10 update my HP Support Assistant finished to work. (Note that it worked after I upgraded my windows 8 to windows 10 on august or september 2015)I uninstalled and reloaded this HP Support Assistant. When trying to install it the operation finished  without completion and I got a message "Log in with administrator privileges". I tried the installing today (once again) but the result was the same as earlier.   I am the only user of my computer and I always log in as an administrator. There is 1,5 terabyte free space in my hard disk.What to do ? heppu

Hello everybody. As many HP users, I use to run HP Support Assistant to check for the availability of updated drivers and software for my Envy 4 ultrabook. I'm running the most recent version of Support Assistant.A few days ago, I've noticed that Support Assistant cannot connect to the Internet and look for updates, but it was able to download and install the upgraded version that I'm currently running. This strange behaviour began after installing Microsoft Visual Studio 2013, that created some network adapters probably related to the Windows Phone Emulator. I can say for sure that my network connectivity works fine, but the program still reports that it cannot detect an Internet connection.Is there any known issue involving Visual Studio 2013 and HP Support Assistant? Thank you. Bye.

Got message that HPSF.exe has stopped working...."this application has encountered a serious problem and must close." It also says to click "OK" to automatically restart this application. Get pop-up from Windows, shows the scrolling at bottom of the pop-up for a second or two, and then the pop-up completely disappears. Also received message "sp63425.exe is corrupt or invalid (but I can't remember if from HP or Windows).
Also, my Norton 360 can no longer run scans, get an "X Error During Scan" and some other problems with Norton 360. And, my printer won't print....get message that says printer "offline" or "no power". But it's plugged in.

I'm going crazy trying to find articles, etc. to fix this problem. Finally, came across an article in WindowsTechies.com on how to fix HPSF.exe errors. Norton says it's safe to use. Can someone confirm that this download is safe and will fix my problems?

Do a scan with Malwarebytes and let us know results. Also, check the Event Viewer. (ControlPanel/System'/Admin Tools/Event Viewer) and Device Manager to insure drivers are updated.

Can the HP Support Asst be uninstalled and reinstalled from the HP Support Site ? May be best.

You also may want to check the HP Support Forum and website for info and to insure you have latest HP drivers.

Very recently took delivery of a new Pavilion with Windows 10 preinstalled. So far, the only software to cause me serious problems is the HP Support Assistant, which has not only locked up the PC twice but also chewed up 99% CPU. Have tried to remove it from the Startup using HP's own online instructions - which are wrong. Starting msconfig and then clicking on the Startup tab says that I have to use Task Manager. But the latter does not list Support Assistant - although there is an anonymous 'Program' which looks suspicious. So have basically resorted to turning off anything I can from within Support Assistant. Result is that PC is running much better. Please spare us this malware.

In the lower right hand corner or my screen HP support assistant is available.  I clicked on the assistant and found I had three messages all dealiing with the printer.  There was a yellow triangle over the Assistant icon.   I read and attended to all the messages, but the yellow triangle is still there.  I called HP support for my printer and they indicated that it was a computer problem not a printer problem even though every message dealt with the printer.  Can anyone help me get rid of the yellow triangle.Thanks so much

Windows Tiny7 is not a legal version of Windows, therefore I'm sorry to tell you Major Geeks can not help you with your question.

My advice to you would be to install the nonstripped-down legal paid version of Win 7.

I was trying to update the Support Assistant. This was immediastely stopped by an error message about a kernel . The support assistant will now not start. Windows says it is trying to solve the problem. I find the support assistant helpful so I would like it to work. I have tried resarting and shutting down the computer. The support assitant worked before I tried to install the update. I cannot recall what the update was called but I think it was an update to the assistant itself.

I have been using HP Customer Support and HP Support Assistant to prepare for an upgrade to Windows 10 on my HP TouchSmart 520-1070 Desktop PC (QP792AA#ABA) and am stopped by a disagreement between the two. Customer Support > Software and Drivers > HP TouchSmart 520-1070 Desktop PC lists 32 programs or drivers as of 6/7/2016 as available. HP Support Assistant > My PC, Updates > Check for updates and messages as of 6/7/2016 states "No Updates are Available". Should I ignore HP Support Assistant and use Customer Support to download and install the 32 updates?

So HP support assistant works terible on my computer, and according to your support site support assistant has ALOT of ssues.. for me it started with everytime I used Support assistant it would make my computer crash completly where i manually had to shot it down.. So it got uninstalled, but when I tried to scan with task manager it found an old file from the program but I couldnt get acces to the path.. I then decided to install it again to be able to run the scan efficiently.. But oh boy.............. Now after i shut down the computer and turned it on again everything, and I men EVERYTHING runs so slow you cant even fathom, I am lucky if It can run any "bigger" programs.. so my question is do any other have the same issue experience? Note; any "help" from HP employee will be disregarded, I have dealt with you before, I hve done all the troubleshoot and YES the issue lies with you.. And since you wont accept that fact, then I dont have any hope for you being able to actually asist with support on a product you made, and thereby seeking of the ones actually willing to help - those dealing with the same issue as customer as I am!Any advice other than the "HP support" is welcomed! Thanks Dan

Problems with HP Support Assistant can sometimes be resolved by uninstalling/re-installing. I have left it uninstalled and check for software and driver updates manually. I prefer to get rid of software that leaves event viewer littered with errors. As does HPSA.

@Brad37?, welcome back to the forum. I know that you have uninstalled HPSA and reinstalled it, but try using the latest version found here.  I suggest that you use Revo Uninstaller to uninstall it.  I use the FREE version and the Advanced option.  This has corrected problems for other members using Win 10. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Hi - please can you help me. My HP support Assistant function is not working properly. It tells me that I have 6 updates but when I try to update by the HP support assistant, it gets stuck after making a restore point . (My Internet connection is fine because I can browse other websites) I have downloaded the software manually from the HP website and installed these, rebooted, yet still the HP support assistant says says I have 6 outstanding updates.  The laptop is only a month old. Please help. Hi! I am new to the forum so apologies if I break any rules unintentionally or if this is a stupid question. My question relates to the newest update of HP Support Assistant version 8.3.27.17, framework 12.5.26.37, configuration files 8.0.5386.1523 on a Windows 10 Professional 64-bit machine. My problem is that HP Support Assistant doesn't seem to get past the check for messages and updates stage when attempting to find the latest updates (see image below).  I have tried to check for updates for my machine, as well as for my home printer and both lead to the same result in the image above. In previous versions of HP Support Assistant, this did not happen because it would progressively go through each stage of the process, while replacing the present grey crosses with green ticks. I have tried uninstalling HP Support Assistant, installing it with a previous version and then updating it both through the software and through a later executable, all to no avail. I know that a problem exists because I checked my model's software downloads page on HP's website and found that my machine was not on the latest BIOS version, because it never showed up in those failed checks for updates (so I had to manually download it and update my BIOS from the executable). Question for everyone. I work as a bench tech for a local computer store. I repair and build build computers as well as consult with customers about their computers. I have been told that HP support assistant is actually useful software. At risk of sounding ignorant, I have always been under the impression that it was pretty much junk software from HP and removed it along with a lot of other junk software that comes with the new computers like PDF complete, Norton Internet Security (60-day trial), etc.

But I have a couple guys here though that are swearing up and down that HP Support assistant works better when trying to get drivers for a new HP computer, rather than just going straight to HP's website because, "HP's website doesn't have the most updated drivers". I am having a hard time swallowing this, so I thought I would ask around. What say ye? I would appreciate some answers!

I can't really say personally yet because I haven't had my computer but 2 months. But, if it is software that has been installed on HP computers for years, then I haven't missed it because I have been purchasing HP computers for a long time. When I got this one, I searched the programs I was suspicious of, and HP Support Assistant, was one of them. Everything I read leaned more toward "didn't need it" so I uninstalled it. Time will tell I guess but their web site has always worked for me in the past when I needed drivers, etc.

I have a littel problem with HSA and two Exclaimation points in orange color. HSA may be overly worried that NAP is'nt turn on. I do not meet the requirement to turn it on. My hp pavilion notebook had hp support assistant on it when I first got it. After a reset at the place of purchase, it was gone. can anyone tell how to download it? I have Windows 10.

Hi, How can I disable the HP assistant from restarting my computer everytime it has an update. You only appear to be able to postpone it. It keeps interrupting what I'm doing, especially when I'm downloading software updates (large ones from apple) and then I have to start the download all over again. I have a slow ISP and it can take several hours to download an update. Days if it is interrupted.

The HP Support Assistant has kicked in for an automated tune-up.
However, the last couple of times it has ran it sits on "Microsoft Windows Disk Defragment" for hours. Last time, I let it run for 24+ hours without it moving on to the next step of "analyzing for hardware and software issues".

Is there an alternative defrag to kick start this one, or should I just "cancel" the automated tune-up every time it attempts to complete the scan? Thanks!

My main PC is one yr old HP with W7 Pro. Just started getting a pop-up asking for a restart. There is an option to delay this, but not to stop it appearing altogether.
If I let it carry out the restart, the pop-up reappears after a few minutes.
Any ideas, please?

I am having a problem with HP Support Assistant. It has an error occurred on the top. When I try to uninstall it it also has an error message saying Error # 1315 A network error occurred whilr attempting to read from C:\Windows\Installer\HP Support Assistant.. Then it says C:\swsetup\SP58915\Metro.xml

I tried getting it fixed through HP but after 3 hours on the phone he was not able to help.

Hi  Can anyone help... I have notice that when I check for new updates in the HP Support assistant I get the screen shown below... It appears that it is not working...   I know it was working OK, and I have just refreshed the warranty date so I know it speaks to the HP servers... Do the crosses mean there are no updates or it is not working?   I do have about 5 outstanding updates which I have not istalled could that cause this? I have just checked for updates for the support assistant and it came straight uop that I had outstanding updates. Stuart

My HP support assistant has stopped working. There is always a red mark on the questionmark icon. Officially, it doesn't update anymore.  Second problem: The speakers were good, when the computer came on first time. Now, it's mono. I can still hear but listening to something is not a pleasure anymore. There is nothing wrong, no error and trouble shoting results are perfect; update says that I've the latest one. I got this HP laptop in November 2016 and this is the first computer that I reformatted after 5 months, when I have it; between the computers that I've been using since years. Very disappointed. I was thinking that HP is a trusty brand, but I can't say it now. Now I need to spend almost $200 to buy a speaker in order to listen to something with pleasure. Hope there's the solution for the above two problems.

Hello, I'm new to this forum and am not sure if I'm even entering this question correctly.  Anyway, I have HP Suport Assist. Long story short: It will not show updates. When I click on "Check for updates and messages", I get the screen where it's "searching"; but I get those "gray X's". I am wondering if a "third party" program would  block HP Support Assist from performing properly? I ask that because I have McAfee installed. Any suggestions, please!

Since I have upgraded to the latest version of HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT v 8.3.34.7 (Framework v 12.5.32.37; Configuration Files v 8.0.6493.1554) I have lost the ability to check for Updates.Everytime I try to check for updates, I can only get the green checkmark on the "Connecting to HP servers" step; all the others have an error checkmark (grey cross).I have tried to uninstall HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT and reinstall it on both my machines (HP Elitebook 8470p; HP Elitepad 1000 G2) and the error is the same.Does anyone knows how to fix this?

Hi, I recently bought a HP mini 220HD and since the very first day the HP Support Assistant has been nothing but an annoyance and a nuisance. The final straw occured tonight when I was installing an app and the assistant decided that it would run the "tune up" half way through!! It set a restore point, without permission/confirmation and then started to defrag the hard drive... WHILE THE APP WAS INSTALLING!! At other times, it pops up with annoying and useless information, completely interupting what I am doing and in some cases causing full-screen apps to crash and losing information that hasn't been saved etc etc etc. So.. is there a safe way to remove this from my netbook while still retaining the rest of the functionality of Windows 7 Starter and Norton Internet Security (which seems to be integrated into the assistant at some level)?

Purchased this notebook (Pavilion dv6)  in 2012 directly from HP.  I've had HP Support Assistant from the beginning.  Recently, somehow I lost it along with HP Print and Scan doctor and other related things.  No "?" icon or on the toolbar.  I have tried the reinstall link sp77062 as well as other suggestions to no avail.  My immediate need is that I'm having a problem with my printer and I need Print and Scan Doctor.  In the long term I need HP Support Assistant.  Any suggestions.  Windows 10 by the way.

Didn't know what category to post this in. I open HP Support Assistant, and choose among the HP updates to download (bluetooth, BIOS, etc.).  I then click "download and install".  I then get the green checkmark next to "Connecting to HP servers", a green checkmark next to "checking available disc space", and a green checkmark next to "creating a restore point".  It then starts to supposedly download the first update, but the progress bar stays empty and never advances even if I leave it run for hours.  I end up having to click "stop", and then try again.  It also doesn't matter which update I try to download, I still get the same result.  Any ideas?

In trying to use the HP Support Assistant program, I get an error message stating that the "HPSF.exe has stopped working".  When I select OK to restart the application, I get the same error message.  Attempts to try and download the program have failed.  Thanks for any help.

I just downloaded and tried to install sp50843 after having used Remove Program from Control Panel to uninstall previous SP version.

During the last stages of the install I am getting a pop-up with the message:

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application. The window name that appears is: HPSF_Utils.exe - Application Error

Anyone have any idea of a fix for this problem?

Hi I have a new HP15 notebook running WIndows 10, so I'm new to all this. The HP Support Assistant icon has appeared in the task bar with a double exclamation on it.  When I hover the mouse over it, it says "Important action needed", but when I click on it, there is nothing I can do.  The HP Support Assistant window is disabled by a welcome screen in front of it, and the Next button in the welcome screen is also disabled.  So I can select my preferences for updating etc, but I can't activate them or get beyond the welcome screen. Is this me, or is there something wrong?

Ever since I have updated to Windows 10 my HP support assistant hasnt worked. It is stuck on' a new version of Hp assistant is available' with a refresh button. when i try to update it says there is a fault. I have looked at other posts of the community and I have tried to uninstall and update but it will not allow me to do this, a grey box pops up stating the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.As I am not very tech savvy is there an easy way around this.Many thanks in advance

Went through entire warranty period with inexplicable intermittent freezes.  At end of warranty I removed any HP ancillary software with the intent of wiping the HD and reloading Win10 without using recovery.  Lo and behold -no more freezes.  Fine for 3 months when I went to check on updates available and had to load support assistant and the rest to get access - downloaded available updates  - and freezes started again. Removed all HP 'stuff' - no more freezes.. Explain theat?

@yotboy, welcome to the forum. I can't explain why you are having the problems with HP software, but I suggest that you install the latest version of HPSA here.  Once it is installed you should remote to see what happens.  If it works you can install one HP app at a time and give it a try.  Let me know which app causes the freezes.

Hello everyone, my HP Support Assistant doesn't open either from clicking the (?) icon in the taskbar or double clicking directly from the file location. Reinstalled twice but it still happens. I noticed when I try to start the program, HPSF.exe appears in processes tab in task manager but nothing else appears. Just recently I have had a problem with HPSA not updating with any of the updates there have been. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and now no updates are there. I have tried checking for updates and messages but after it connects, it then fails (shows gray x-mark instead of green checkmark) to complete the remaining steps: Downloading messages and updates definitionGathering configuration informationAnalyzing your systemPreparing the action listI have tried doing an advanced uninstall through Revo and reinstalling through the website but with no success.  I did not uninstall the framework as I felt this could cause more problems.  Are there any suggestions? I discovered that when I try to open HP Support Assistant none of the buttons work, none of the icons do anything and I cannot even shut it back down. I figured I would try and re-install it but when I go to windows Program manager it is not in the list. I found HP Support Assistant Framework and I tried to uninstall that but it gives me the error message Uninstall failed. (HP Support Assistant Framework is required by HP Support Assistant. I just want to get rid of the Support Assistant, the Support Assistant Framework and the whole software suite as I never use it and I wish I had never installed it in the first place.

Recently I upgraded my netbook from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and after successful update I decided to install HP support assistant. I installed it and it doesn't opened. After doing lots of restarts, install/unisnstall it was the same. P.S. Also I tried to install HPSupport Sollutions to get my computer model name but it says that it tries to get version 11.5... , and Windows 10 stock applications say that I  am not connected to internet wile I am connected and can easily surf the web.

@troubleshoot411?, welcome to the forum. I agree with using Revo.  It is my go to app for malware.  When you used Revo, did you use the Advanced option?  This will not only remove the program from the HDD, but it removes any remnants from the BIOS.  If not, this could be the problem.  I suggest trying the Advanced option to remove HPSA and shut down the computer.  Then, boot and reinstall HPSA from here. Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Support Assistant Message regarding issue printer had upon initial installation over a year ago that hasn't recurred since won't truly delete. Left-clicking the trash can icon causes the message to disappear from that window, but the yellow triangle remains on both the tray / toolbar icon and the printer device icon, and either toggling tabs or closing and reopening show the message reappearing. Others with a similar issue appear to have tried reinstalling, or uninstalling and reinstalling Support Assistant with no success. One reported apparently spontanous resolution, but that has yet to occur for days now.

HP Suppor Assistant does not finish locating new messages, etc.  I uninstalled Support Assistant, rebooted, and then downloaded current Support Assistant from HP, installed it, and then rebooted again.  No change - Support Assistant hangs  when I click on "check for updates and messages".  Never completes the check..  Running new Pavilion 300-020. Windows 10 64bit, SSD hard drive, on wi-fi.   Anyone have a fix?

HP support assistant sent me an urgent message (two exclamation points) telling me "important action needed" and that windows firewall is off. I checked windows firewall through the control panel and it shows windows firewall is on for both public and private networks. Why is HP support assistant telling me that the firewall is off and windows is showing the firewall on?? Is the firewall on or off and how do I fix this issue?

If Control Panel shows it as on then it is on. There is sometimes a glitch with Support Assistant only looking for the security software (trial) that comes on many HP machines. If your machine came with McAfee Security Suite or Norton and you uninstalled it that may be what support assistant is looking for. Just ignore the warning- should be an option to delete or ignore.

Hello, we have two identical desktops HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF running Windows 10 (64 Bit) with the most recent Windows updates installed. On both of them today I have installed the HP Support Assistant. The version info of the Support Assistant says: HP Support Assistant: 8.3.27.17Framework: 12.5.26.37Configuration files: 8.0.6294.2155Contact information: 37386108 All updates for the Support Assistant software have been installed on both machines. While on one of the desktops the Support Assistant works fine and could download and install the  available updates on the other machine the update process stops before downloading the updates with the following screen:Several uninstall/reinstall cycles (with reboots after each step) did not help to remedy this issue.Any advice would be greatly appreciated. KInd regards, Hans-Georg

Hi! Unfortunatley I have some problems with HP support assistant because I'm not able to update the list of the possible updates for my PC!How Can i solve this problem?

Hi Tech guys, HP support assistant is not working, after it loads, it hangs up with an error as occurred. I have tried reinstalling the latest but still no luck. HP are not helping and I notice others are having the same issue? Does anyone know the fix, or is there a suitable alternative to use? Cheers

Hi all, Im trying to install HP support assistant, men it never complete the installlation. The installation bar runs in a loop. I tried to remove it and install it from the scratch but same issue.  I cant really understand why i cant install it, i have elitebook 820 G1

Hi,

For the record I am on a HP Pavilion 23-g017c (x64) AMD A6-5200 APU w/Radeon HD Graphics computer, running Windows 8.1 and using IE 11 with Zone Alarm Firewall and Antivirus/Spyware as my security.

I have only been using this All-In-One computer and the installed Win 8.1system for about two weeks now ever since my former machine running Windows 7 Pro decided it was time to die.

Slowly but surely things are starting to fall into place using this new Windows system. However, for one reason or another, I can no longer get 'HP Support Assistant' to open up. I say no longer because when I first got this system I did have it open for me, but I never used it, I just made a shortcut and moved on to other things.

Now when I click on my shortcut it brings up the HP Support Assistant window but it just sits there and acts like it is trying to open but it doesn't. Same thing when I try to open the actual program.

When I go to the file location I note that it was last modified Aug. 29, 2013, when I was on my other machine running Win 7 Pro.

Any ideas how to get it working again?

Answer:HP Support Assistant won't load on Win 8.1

HP Support Assistant has been very problematic. It works of some Windows 8/8.1 but not on others and nobody knows why. It is a useless piece of software and suggest you do use it. I have tried it, some days it works and some days it doesn't, it has been very inconsistent. I also have seen cases where it has bricked the system especially where the BIOS is concerned. There are plenty of tools online that are free for the most part you can use that would do a better job.

When i run the HP Support Assistant in my notebook (model HP Split x2 PC), it just keeps asking me to reboot or delay the reboot to 1 hr later.I simply can't proceed to next step at all.Even if I follow the instruction and rebooted my notebook, when rerun the HP support assistant app again. The same issue keep poping up. I can't not proceed to next step. Click delay the reboot for (eg. 1 hr) will just close and quit the app. How to fix? Thanks,Nkboy  

Answer:HP Support Assistant keeps asking me to restart

It is probably corrupt. Uninstall the HP Support Assistant and then use the recovery manager -->Install drivers and applications option to reinstall it.

Recently when I open HP Support Assistant (& HP Utilty Centre) pages open on screen but they are grayed & unresponsive & so are unuseable. I tried re-installing but the Install stops suddenly & closes.How do I get it to work correctly again?

It´s related to HP Support Assistant software.I have 8 actualizations items pending to be included in the system.When I chose some of these and I push DOWNLOAD & INSTALL, the software begins with the first one, open a new screen, and works fine until the item download is started, and looks like there is an eternal loop and the progress bar never go ahead. After some minutes, I need to stop process. I finally got HP Support Assistant to open and run; however, the Health Analysis seems to hangup at the Downloading Updates stage. I am running an HP TouchSmart 600 1050 with Windows 7 64 bit. Do others have this problem?

if you check out hp's forums on the subject, many other hp users have this issue. you might find a solution there. have you gone to hp & looked for any updates for your model # and the support asst? there should be one there...
