I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

About a month ago my computer would not charge. Purchased a new power cord but that was not the issue. The motherboard has went out on the computer. I paid about $1200.00 for this computer hoping it would last me through college. Now halfway though my second year, I'm looking at having to buy a new computer. I have read that the issue I'm having is common for my computer. Have there been any recalls or are there any options I have to get my computer fixed.  Thanks for your help. JTS

Answer:G505s Warranty has expired after 8 months.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

From what you have described it sounds like you purchased your computer directly from a retailer rather than from Lenovo.  If that is correct then what happened is Lenovo started the warranty date on the day the retailer purchased their shipment from Lenovo.  With these types of purchases Lenovo generally adds an extra month to the warranty to make up for the time the computer may have sat in a warehouse or on the store shelf before purchase.  In your case the laptop sat longer than expected.  In can be corrected by contacting Lenovo Support and providing them with a copy of your receipt from the retailer.  Lenovo will then update the warranty information accordingly.

Hello, two part problem. Ordered a T42 from IBM Used Certified program in mid February. (Father is IBM employee) Machine type/model:  2373-C96Serial number:  99KALB0BIOS version: 1RETDPWW (3.21 )Operating system: Windows XP ProfessionalOperating system version: 5.01Total memory: 2048 MB Computer arrived after about 10 days (February 25 or so...), though I had already left for Europe so was unable to try out the machine until April 10. Sadly, the USB ports do not detect devices of any kind. (in device manager, the controllers and hubs all are functional according to XP's Device Manager....however they never see any devices. To be clear, its NOT 'unknown devices' - nothing shows up period.) Tried a Seagate External HDD and a Microsoft Intellimouse. Both of them are confirmed to work on a T60 with XP - so the devices are not at fault. Further, the External HDD 'lights up' when plugged into the USB, so the HDD itself recognizes that it is plugged in....just not seeing from the laptop. I allowed XP to install all available updates, and manually reinstalled the Host controller and Root Hub drivers. Also checked the BIOS, and it seems as if the USB is properly enabled. Still no luck, so I decide look into support from Lenovo. After all, this machine was not functional 'out of the box' - so something must have been wrong before it left the warehouse. For some reason, the automated warranty detection program indicates 'Out of War... Hello, I have bought this HP 15 Notebook (product no. N4G35PA#ACJ) from Flipkart.com on 18th march 2016. As per the invoice/purchse date (18-03-2016) and product description (1 year warranty) the warranty should end in 24 March 2016. But I can see (on 16-05-2016) in the HP support assistant window that it is showing "Warranty and services remaining for 8 months". It means I get only 10 months warranty on the product and not 12 months. I registered my product as soon as I received and started using it in March 2016. I donıt understand why it is showing like this. And what do I need to do to rectify the warranty information. Please suggest ASAP.

Answer:Warranty Duration showing 10 months

So my USB 3.0 ports didn't work when the unit first arrived. I called and complained, and they agreed to send me a replacement unit. All I would have to do is send back the first unit when the replacement arrieved. Well, it took over 2 months, but they sent me a replacement. The problem is that they issued me a UPS return label that has since expired. I sent them an email to see what I should do, but so far no response from Lenovo. I'm worried that they are going to charge me for the replacement machine if I don't send the first one back within a certain time limit, but nobody ever told me what that time would be. What should I do?

Answer:I got a replacement system after waiting 2 months...now the return label they sent me is expired.

Hi all,I own a Thinkpad T400. When I check for its warranty status, I get the message that "this product has a one year limited warranty and is entitled to IBM EZServ service." The one year limited warranty expired on 6/4/10. I looked into other posts in this forum and found out that it is possible to extend warranty after the limited warranty period has expired. For example, this post mentions that warranty can be extended after it has expired. A reply down in that thread says that one can purchase a Thinkplus post warranty. I checked this page and got an impression that my machine is still eligible for a Post warranty extension. Some other posts have mentioned that there is an automatic 3-year replacement warranty. I tried looking into the terms and conditions but could not find any clear statement indicating this. My question is: I want to add warranty years to my machine. Is it possible now? How? I am in Germany, but I can't speak German- so please do not ask me to call a German service center. I would like to know of the available options so that I can decide. If you can give me references to official Lenovo policies, would be great. Also, if I want to replace my hard drive now, would it be possible? If I would like to re-install my OS, would it be possible? I am in great confusion. Your help would be highly appreciated. If you need to further information, please let me know. Regards.

Guys:  I need HELP! My W500 warranty was expired. I would like to buy ThinkPlus again. But Taiwan local service provider restricts only those machine local service provider sold can register ThinkPlus service. Due to this 'UNREASONABLE' restriction, they told me I have to buy ThinkPlus service in US and register the service in US only. The problem is my warranty has been expired,  so before buying ThinkPlus service the retailer needs to check machine status. How can I do this?? BR,Edward Yang

Answer:W500 warranty expired

welcome to the forum!

unfortunately, if you purchased the system from the US and are now using it permanently in Taiwan then you'll have to extend the warranty locally.   you won't be able to purchase post-expiration warranty through the US unless you have a US-issued credit card.

if local service won't extend your system due to it being a US model then that may be a restriction per warranty entitlement terms applicable to the Taiwanese market.   every country differs on these policies and there may not be anything that can be done.

please note that international warranty service (IWS) is intended to allow owners to travel overseas on a temporary basis and receive support while traveling.   it's not intended for permanent system relocation.

Hi: The same thing happened to me. You will have to call HP to have the warranty date adjusted.  If you live in the USA/Canada, Call this number and explain the situation.   1 800-474-6836  The customer services rep will send you a link to upload a copy of your invoice or sales receipt showing the purchase date. Once they get that, they will adjust the warranty start and end dates accordingly. I seem to recall they adjusted mine within 3 days of getting the receipt info I scanned to them.

I have the case numbers of both of those. Now, I want to try again to get it fixed, but it seems that every avenue to even contact customer support (except this forum) either requires me to pay, or requires a system with an active warranty. I feel strongly that this problem should be fixed for free, because the problem first manifested when the system was still under warranty, and it was never fixed. What can I do to contact Acer customer support and plead my case? Thanks!

The right hinge connecting the display had cracked, and the only thing supporting the display is the left hinge. I bought a Lenovo 3000 n100 0768-6ug in late September of 2006 and all was fine until after the year's warranty expired. Since then I have had many problems with the laptop.  The first problem came with the laptop, it was the supposed 5 in 1 card reader which would only recognize XD cards, I?ve tried all the cards claimed to be recognized and none of them are except the XD card. I never pursued this problem because at the time I had a card reader which I used anyway Next was the laptop's battery which broke suddenly last October. The battery shows the exact symptoms explained by other users on this forum, and those that are explained on the Lenovo website: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-69671 (posted 10th April 2008).  In early January 2008, the CD/DVD drive broke and is not able to recognize any inserted media. Next in February of this year the laptop's wifi card stopped working properly, now without fail, after 20 minutes of booting up the laptop the wifi radio will turn its self off, and I have to turn it back on using the Fn+F5 shortcut. The latest problem occurred in the last couple of days, when the laptop suddenly cuts off power randomly, this problem is definitely something wrong with the laptop because I have tried it plugged into several different wall outlets around my house, and the problem isn?t the power cable coming out of the laptop. When I typed the first copy of this message the power cut.&nbs... Read more

Hi: HP sets the warranty date starting when the PC is shipped to the vendor from the factory. Since I do not work for or represent HP, I do not know why they do this. In any event you can call HP support, and ask them to adjust the warranty start and end dates. You will have to provide them with a copy of the invoice or sales receipt showing the date of purchase. I had to do that too. The customer services rep should send you an e-mail with a link to upload your scanned copy of the proof of purchase. Then in about 3 business days, they will adjust the warranty period accordingly.

Hello, I purchased my HP Envy 15t on December 7, 2015 with a one year warranty that expired on December 7, 2016.  I accidently dropped the laptop recently and cracked the screen, but the warranty is obviously no good anymore.  I spoke with two different local repair shops, one a single, small business and the other a large chain store.  The first offered repair and parts with what I believe to be a third-party supplier because the larger store could not find any parts at all.  I have scrolled through many of the HP Care Packages options, but have no idea if anything I could purchase would help me get my laptop repaired.   This is my computer for school, so I'm kind of pressed for time but not made of money either. Does any one have any suggestions? Thank you!

Hi, I am going to purchase a T450s in the next week and I'm going to purchase a 2 Year Onsite&Accidental warranty.I'm just wondering about what it would take to replace a mainboard after the warranty expired. The reason I'm bringingthis into question is because a key is needed to replace a mainboard and update the new mainboards serial etc.

Solved!

Answer:Replacing broken mainboard after warranty expired.

The board's serial is updated with the service disk, which is available to warranty servicers. The boards are reliable, so hopefully, it won't need replacing. You can talk to a dealer about setting the serial.

My warranty expired, you know what that means...Time to take apart the lappy! I want to upgrade my T5750 with something that packs a bit more punch.I was wondering if anyone had the Lenovo HMM for the Y510 - or knew a contact for where I could get it?(Being that the Y series is a Consumer Laptop, unlike the Thinkpads, such information is not publicly available on Lenovos website)  I also would like to know the highest supported processor for the Lenovo Y510 series while maintaining the same Intel G965 Chipset and LENOVO SPEEDY Motherboard. To elaborate even further on this, what socket type is the processor?I know it is socket P, but is it a Pin or Ball socket processor??? That's about it.

I think the motherboard is burned. I saw the smoke came out from the left vent. Can I update my warranty one more year to avoid the cost of repair or just throwthe machine to the rubbish? Its dead and can not light on.

Answer:Help needed~x61s dead after warranty expired

The warranty can be extended within one month of expiration date, how come your laptop short circuited did you have get water on the laptop or something, in which case warranty don't cover it. And you are better off selling the laptop for parts or get a new motherboard off ebay or IBM parts, and change it yourself.

Hello,I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this kind of query or if I'm just ranting rather than asking a legitimate question but I'll post it anyway.I purchased a hp-15ba055sa from PC world 04/02/2017.  It came with the HP Support Assistant installed which prompts me to read its messages.  There is only one message and that is that the warranty expired 04/02/2017 and I can purchase more if I like.  I contacted HP support and put in a warranty dispute request to which I attached a copy purchase receipt.  The response was less than helpful and amounted to "not our problem, speak to PC world".  I telephoned the HP GB helpline indicated in the e-mail and their advice was to uninstall the HP support assistant. My question is: As this is a new laptop and proof of purchase has been provided why can't HP just change the warranty date and re-enable the HP Support Assistant.

Hi All, I have bought my new laptop HP Envy AE101NX yesterday (25-May-2016). However, when I open HP support center application and recovery applications, where we see the warranty period information it is showing incorrect information. The store supervisor informed me that it is in 2 years warranty period. The information being showin in these apps is 6 Months and that too Start Date : XX/08/2015End Date :    XX/02/2016. This Feb-2016 is already passed. I could not understand how come the warranty is already expired, even though it is for 6 months for some reasons. Can anyone please advise on how to get this fixed? ThanksVamshi

Pretty poor customer service, theres no way the part is costing them that.

A warranty is supposidly 12 months yet i have only had mine 1 1/2 months and is says i only have 8 months warranty left, somethings wrong there and looking at the dispute page it looks like you cant dispute it until they says its run out????

Answer:warranty 12 months ????

Hi Is it registered with HP? When registration occurs the warranty would be adjusted to start from the born on date (I think you press ESC and then F1 to view this). So if you could try that and then ask again if there is still a difficulty.

For 15+ years I've recommended Lenovo products.  The main reason I brag about them is this, if anything breaks you can find the part and fix it.  ...I'm learning the hard way that this might not be true anymore.  Please tell me I'm wrong.

Below is a picture of my hinge/case problem.  As you can see, the hinge screws have broke free of their sockets in the case.  What parts can I buy to fix this?  It seems like this hinge is slightly different than those I've been finding online.  Mine has three parallel sockets, most I've seen have three in a triangular configuration.

Answer:X1 Carbon Touch broke 2 days after warranty expired

The manuals and part lists are not very good on this model. The only LCD bezel shown is for the non-touch model. I could never determine if the rear cover and cable were the same touch vs. non-touch. The one I dealt with seemed to have more catastrophic damage than your picture shows. Mine broke the corner of the screen and snapped the LCD cable when the hinge pulled out of the rear cover.  The machine was running at the time (open lid to resume from sleep).  The snapped cable created a short - a real mess, and more than I could deal with. IBM handles parts sale. I would suggest calling their help number 1-800-765-5944.

A year ago this month, June 2015, I PURCHASED a  M3800. I emphasize "purchase" as the laptop wasn't shipped until July 20th.    I have had recurring problems with start up from the get go - Sometimes it would start up, sometimes not.  Often times, removing any USB attachments and/or holding down the power button for 10 seconds resolved it.  While it was on, it worked like a champ. LOVED IT!  By Dec 2015 it died. Contacted Dell support, shipped the M3800 back and within 10 days, received my M3800 with a replacement motherboard.  Well, it's now June 21st, 11 days past my warranty  and guess what? DEAD ... Well, not entirely, the power button LED lights up momentarily when I press it.   I've tried multiple solutions, including removing the battery to eliminate static electricity, and still nothing. Any ideas would be seriously appreciated. Thanks heaps!

hello, I own a Thinkpad R61 Model 7742. In the last few weeks after Bios n other updates I got the following results: 1) From having a perfectly behaving Li Battery (full charge ~ 2.5 hr running time) -> "Battery Error, replace". The last 10 days I have to content myself seeing the battery draining from 98% to death! 2)  Everything else was working ok, until I tried to play a DVD with Windows Media n other players. To my own surprise the image has no colors, but the LCD screen colors look ok. 3) Tried connecting my external monitor which I usually do at home and found similar problem. The white looks redish. Everything look good on the LCD? Any idea on any of these issues?

My x120e was bought in September 2011.  Just 9-10 months of ownership, the touchpad became erratic.  It was unresponsive and the left click button did not work.  I tried to update the drivers and played around with the settings, but nothing worked.  I had to use a mouse for the laptop to be functional.  Since I am working on the run, being tethered to a mouse was a nuisance.  Once I had a break that allowed me to part with my laptop for awhile, I sent it to a Lenovo service provider in August 2012  for repair under the warranty.  The service provider replaced the touchpad and it worked fine for 3 months until the same problem appeared again just 3 months later in November 2012.  Unfortunately, now the warranty has expired and I still have the same problem with a probelmatic touchpad.  Will Lenovo extend my warranty just to fix this particular problem since it was not fixed completely while the laptop was still under warranty?  Any help is appreciated as this issue is driving me nuts.

Answer:x120e Recurring Touchpad Problem (now warranty expired)

Hey there mohican,

It is really unfortunate that the issue is reoccurring for you only three months outside of warranty, especially after such a recent repair. The best course of action that I recommend for you is to contact Lenovo's Customer Relations, explain what occurred, the repair, and the trouble you have had since. This way you can discuss with them what options you have, and where to go from here. The number for the US is 1-800-426-7378. Good Luck, and hope this assists you.

So my T410 went to EasyServ in November for a motherboard replacement under warranty due to a bad usb port..     Now, 5 months later, I suspect the new board is failing -- yesterday I started getting periodic serial restarts, sudden crashes, etc.     Problem is, the machine is no longer under warranty. I was under the impression that the replacement parts were warranted for 6 months, but I just got off the phone with Lenovo and I was told they only warrant the parts for 90 days.    So now, if these problems continue, my Thinkpad turns into a doorstop due to the faulty motherboard they installed.      Pretty disappointing, considering that it was in better shape before the repair.   Now they say they want $500 to re-fix it.     Is this indeed Lenovo policy?     No replacement of faulty parts after 90 days?   Seems to me like a motherboard should last longer than 5 months, and that they should make this right.

Answer:T410 faulty replacement motherboard, warranty expired

I don't want to buy a new notebook.    I like the one I have.     It was working fine until they repaired it with a faulty part and crippled it.

I just purchased a new (sealed in Lenovo factory box, had Lenovo security tape on both ends) R500, 2716-PV3. I initially said "922 days remaining" in the Lenovo Think Vantage application. It's a great machine, but yesterday I noticed it said warranty status EXPIRED. I went online to the Lenovo support site and verified this, and furthermore, the site said "this machine was sold without a warranty"? Excuse me? nowhere on the box was this indicated, and this was purchased NEW from a major retailer (Micro Center). I spoke with Micro Center and they confirmed this was a NEW computer, not a return, and it should have a full factory warranty for 3 years (and the documentation included with the computer confirms this). The box has all matching serial numbers and does not say "refurbished", "blemished" or "no warranty" or anything like that. I am at  a loss. I like the machine and own two Idea Pad netbooks, but if it is out of warranty, I am thinking of returning it to Micro Center. I don't anticipate problems, but I bought a machine with a full warranty, and have a receipt with the serial number on it, so what would you do? I am still within the 15 day return period. I really DON'T want to return it, it's a superb machine and I have already installed all my apps and data on it, but if it truly out of warranty, I feel I am being cheated by either Micro Center or Lenovo. If I keep it, and something does fail (which I don't think it will based on my prior experience with Thin... Read more

Answer:R500: brand new from major retailer: Lenovo says warranty expired?

Hello mate, The Lenovo warranty for the ThinkPad start when the machine is leaving the factory. But the R500 is not a current model of ThinkPad. I think it was out in 2008. Although your R500 is new and never open it might have 1 or 2 years already wich could explain why the warranty is expired.

Pretty simple;
Warranty was about to expire in August, sent out for repair in July to fix the hinge.
The problem was that the hinge was loose at a certain angle and taught at others (the precursor to the broken hinge of death us Y510 owners seem to be plagued with.)
They fixed the issue with flying colors...kudos to them!
4 Months gone, a semester of college up I take my laptop out and open it up, I hear a loud SNAP and now the hinge opens 180 degrees.

This is about how far the Y510 will open before hitting the stop on the hinge.

This is how far mine will open now...

Hello, two years ago, I bought a lenovo T61 with three years of warranty *home service*. Soon after, I needed a service repair of my notebook. At this time it was no problem to register my machine at lenovo and to get the service repair.Unfortunately, two month ago, there was again the same problem with my machine. When I then tried to call in the service, the lenovo warranty system claimed that my warranty had already expired the exact day I actually had bought the machine. I looked into the lenovo forum and found out that others had similar problems. So I followed the adwise in this forum to adress to [email protected], but lenovo kept on telling me that there had never been a warranty on my notebook. I sent lenovo the original bill, on which is written *bought with three years of warranty, home repair service*, I sent them the invoice tracking number of the first service repair, I even contacted my licenced lenovo dealer to confirm that the machine was not accidentally sold as a broker machine *lenovo suggested this*, but still the company refuses to accept my warranty. So, in compliance with my lenovo dealer and after two months of many, many e-mails with lenovo, I now try to find help in this forum. I would be happy if somebody has an idea what to do with my warranty problem.

Answer:T61 - warranty status of the machine got accidentally changed to expired and cannot be reactivated

My dell xps 15 9550 was purchased with a 3yr extended warranty.  After getting an email offering to sell an extended warranty, I checked the dell warranty status.  Sure enough, no extended warranty appears.  Is this a system problem or do I need to do something.

I have purchased one Dell Vostro 3546 series laptop 2 days back i.e 4th June 2015. When I checked the Warranty details for my laptop (tag <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>) it shows that the warranty will expire on 24-Dec-15 which is less than 6 months whereas the Dell provides the 15 months warranty for this laptop.
It shows that the product is shipped on 24-Sep-14 and thus the warranty will expire on 24-Dec-15 but how come the warranty will expire when the product was not at all purchased by customer.
I have purchased this laptop from authorized dealer under the bill from Nehru Place and request you to please let me know the solution for my problem.

You need to register the system with Dell (transfer ownership to your name) to initialize the warranty.

My thinkpad Yoga died at begining of June. Called Lenovo who sent a replacement HD which didn't resolve the problem so I had to ship the item in for repair. This is 16 June and I am yet to hear anything or an ETA on when I can have it back. Just wondering how long does it take on average to get a Thinkpad repaired? Really pissing me off that the rep flatout refuses to extend my warranty for the days I have to wait for it to be repaired.

depends on the parts availability. But 1 month sounds quite long.

I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 5567 on 2/01/2017 from Reliance Digital Store Pune. Dell support assist shows that my warranty started on 14/09/2016 and will end on 14/09/2017. As far as I know warranty should start from the date of purchase on the invoice. So I searched a little bit and got to know about the ownership transfer process. I did that 15 days ago but still haven't received any notification regarding the same. Can you guys please help regarding this process. I don't know what to do now as my warranty will end in 12 days.

Answer:Dell warranty only for 9 months on new purchase

If the ownership transfer doesn't go through, contact the seller to find out why - if the system was originally sold through a grey market channel, you can indeed have transfer issues - your seller should be able to tell you.

Hi,

I have Lenovo Y560. We bought a warranty extention few months back using phone support. They said we will get the receipt in 48 hours and warranty will be  updated in a weeks time. But its been almost 7 months now or so. No change in warranty status.

It would be lot better if some kind Lenovo staff here help update warranty on page as I need to get the laptop serviced ASAP.

We called phone support again and what they said is same , it will take 24-48 hrs for receipt and 1 week to update warranty online but they have database with all recodes so you can give Acc number to use the warranty. I am not sure how this works using account number. Would be much better for me if someone just update the warranty on page.

To use Warranty in the database  : Acct number : 1600360225

Warranty  valid  till Dec 2013

I just purchased a new (sealed) Lenovo S230u factory box with security tape on both ends unopened, with no additional tape, from a major online retailer that also have physical stores in selected States. It is a refurnished machine, according to the major retailer website, it has 90 days warranty from Lenovo with Levono phone number etc. Having bought several 1000+ Thinkpad and 3000 desktop from IBM, with the *very good* price offered and manufacture warranty, I am willing for the first time to try out the Thinkpads after it is owned by a Chinese company Lenovo. I had been very skeptical whether the Chinese company Lenovo would provide the same level of support as IBM. And this is where the nightmare begins. I called and checked with the online retailer and they had a few hundred machines but I bought one of the last one they have in stock since it went to SOLD OUT within hours. I confirmed with them they are factory refurnished machines and they had hundreds of them. With the low price and short warranty, I made sure I have the ability to purchase extended warranty and went to Levono online chat for warranty to confirm how much it would cost to buy extended warranty and that shipping for any needed service is free BOTH ways.  My last machine was HP and I loved how they provided two way free shipping and excellent technical support service. I've been trying to find a solution to this online for a few days now and haven't come across anything. I have a Toshiba Satellite Fusion. It was working beautifully until the other day when I went to use it. It wouldn't power up so I assumed the battery was dead. Plugged it in and the charging light didn't come on but the computer powered on. The laptop recognizes that it's plugged in and shows that the batter has a 100% charge on it but will not run unless it's plugged and will shut off instantly when unplugged. I've tried using another charging cable with no luck and I'm unsure at this point what next step to take. I would pop the battery out and put it back in but this one doesn't have an easily accessible battery and I'm trying to avoid taking it apart if possible. I haven't located a battery reset button on the bottom either.

As noted in the title it's two months out of warranty otherwise I'd just send it in.

Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced.

Hello! I bought a Dell Inspiron laptop several months ago (new) and last week it stopped charging. I sent it back to the manufacturer and they said the AC adapter needs replacing, is not under warranty and I need to pay them ~$159. Can someone tell me why it's not under warranty and if this is true? Thanks.

As per title really, after some of the complaints I've seen on these forums, I can't understand why these machines are still being warrantied at manufacture, then by time the customer gets the machine, like myself, there's a much shorter warranty remaining. There must be a better warranty registration system than this? Other brands of laptop I've had have involved a customer driven registration program, or one that runs automatically when windows setup completes fully. Anyway, rant over, could I be guided on the process to reset the warranty please? Many thanksMark

Answer:Warranty Still Being Activated at Manufacture - Only received 9 months

Hello and welcome,

I'll guess that your machine was purchased from a retailer - not direct from Lenovo.  That's how this usually happens.  The laptop sits in someone's inventory for a while. Lenovo phone or web sales tend to be build-to-order.

I've bumped into this a couple of times.  The procedure (at least here in the US) is to call support.  Be prepared with a proof-of-purchase that you can email.  Also be prepared to wait a while.  It can take a couple of weeks for the updated expiration date to show up in the data base.

Regards,
Z.

The note book we bought will not turn on, the power button lights up but that's it. We have tried all trouble shooting ideas on here. If it's out of warranty what do I do.

So I received my new ThinkPad Twist on Wednesday the 14th of this month and promptly registered it with lenovo. And then I discover the next day under my Warranty check that the Warranty was started the day the machine was built and not when you take possession as a New machine/customer. To be fair here most of the vendors do it this way.   I called lenovo and the rep. even told me they think it stinks and then happily pointed out the solution of buying an extended warranty. So in essence you are not receiving what you are paying for. By the way the ThinkPad Twist is one awesome machine.  Very happy I made the right choice.   And I was able to find one with a core i7 processor and 8gigs of ram.   At a price that had me do a double take.   Needless to say I jumped on it as fast as my fingers could place the order. It's a good thing I really like it, or my dismay at the lost of over 5 months of warranty coverage would really have me doing some expletives here.  It leaves one with the feeling that it's a carnival bait and switch move, claiming they are giving X amount of warranty but never mentioning it's from the time the machine was built and not from the date the customer purchases it.

Answer:Lost 5.4 months on Warranty on new ThinkPad Twist

If you call up the Lenovo service rep, they can reset the warranty to the day you bought the machine, by providing your sales receipt/invoice.

Hi Folks,             I guess I am aiming this question at Mark or one of the other Lenovo people who frequent the forum. I recieved my Laptop (300 n200  0769-BRG) as a birthday present back in January this year. It was bought from Laptops Direct in the UK (invoice date: 2008-01-21). On firing the Laptop up I registered with the online registration thing that appears when you start the machine up. Since owning it the dvd drive died and was replaced under warranty with no hassle. However, the replacement has started exhibiting similar behavior (problems reading dvds) and upon checking my warranty status online I find it supposedly expired on the 26-09-08: Type:0769 Model: BRG Serial number:  xxxxxx   Status:Out of warranty Expiration date:2008-09-26 Location:  UNITED KINGDOM I have an html copy of the invoice clearly stating invoice number and order date etc which I can email to Lenovo warranty staff (athough as it was a present the machine was ordered by my aunt so her name is on the invoice). What can I do to sort out the obvious discrepency between the order date and the fact that the warranty started almost three months before the laptop was ordered? Advice welcome as always Thanks in advance Regards Rob

Answer:ASK: Warranty started 3 months before Laptop was ordered ??

Call Lenovo service, and tell them that your warranty date does not reflect the invoice date, they will then proceed to change your warranty date, once they received a copy of the invoice/receipt.

I have about 15 of the Dell e7440's just out of warranty and the batteries have expanded, popping out of the frame, about to burst and no one at Dell could care less.  I spent an hour on the phone with Dell warranty support, Dell out of warranty support, Dell Federal warranty support, Dell in-warranty support and simply put Dell batteries have a one year warranty and even though we bought extended warranty's for 3 years that have expired, no one at Dell cares this is a safety issue.
My users can't go on a plane, a car, a train without worry and are totally spooked about the few batteries that still do fit (they are inflating by the week) may blow up or leak all over them.  Even my new federal rep has no pull or seems to care about this huge safety issue.  One year warranty on batteries, that is it.  I am in the process of upgrading all of these users computers with new ones and have a bank of about 15 laptops now that are useless.   Can you all say.. Hello HP !
Has anyone else experience this issue?

Hi, My 2 year old Lenovo Flex 14 Ideapad has encounter a non-functioning touch screen and loosed usb ports.Due to some disappointing experience with the Lenovo Singapore Service Centre, my warranty has just expired and I have yet to be able to service my laptop. The main issue was that I wasn't able to send my laptop down to the service centre in person, as the operating hours of the service centre in Singapore coincides with my working hours. Unfortunately, I did not sufficient time to make any arrangements to sevice my laptop before the expiry of my warranty. In my attempts to look for alternatives with Lenovo, I've tried contacting Levono Singapore Service Centre on multiple attempts. However, I wasn't able to reach any of the service centre staff using the designated service centre contact number on multiple occasions. I even had to experience occasions where I was put on hold for nearly up to an hour each time. Eventually, I gave up on trying to reach the service center and randomly dialed a general enquiry line with Lenovo.  Unfortunately, the staff that attended to me insisted that I had no other choices but to make it down during my offices hours to service my Flex 14. This whole stretch of trying to contact Lenovo Singapore to obtain information to service my laptop has resulted in me not being able to service the laptop in time.  As such, I would like to seek opinions on is it possible to still extend the warranty for it? Or h... Read more

Hi.  After looking over some of the post, it looks like hinges are a problem for Lenovo.  My U450P is less than 4 months old and the hinge popped as I was trying to close it one evening last week.  (No I didn't drop it and have only taken out of the house 2-3 times.)  I didn't continue to try and close the lid, because it looked like it was pulling the top corner apart. Anyway after calling support and then driving an hour away to nearest FedEx Express, I got a call today - it will cost me $180 to repair.  Of course I had to close it to put it in the shipping box, and as it closed the broken hinge did pull apart the top slightly.  They consider that accidental damage and assume I dropped it. I was also admonished for not getting the extra warranty coverage.  Shouldn't a computer last more than 3 1/2 months without having to pay for extra warranties!!!  It seems from reading these boards that Lenovo hinges are an issue.  I certainly had no problems with previous laptops. So - am I just stuck, or has anyone found help with their hinge situations. thanks!

Answer:U450P Broken hinge 3 months old Warranty won't cover

as i remember, ( usa ) lenovo's warranty for hinge doesn't cover anything.to make sure, i'll try to find an answer ( may take couple of days to respond )

Hello forum, I have a T440 with 500 GB HDD+16 GB SSD. The HDD failed within 3 months with light usage, which is very disappointing. The laptop is still under warranty and I am wondering if I can replace it with a single SSD under warranty. I talked to Lenovo customer service and I believe they will only replace it with another HDD. Can I request Lenovo to replace it with a 500 GB SSD instead for a small price? Or will Lenovo charge a lot of money for that? If the latter is true, then will it make sense for me to buy and replace the SSD on my own?  Also, which option is right for me? To get it repaired at a Lenovo associated depot or ship my laptop to lenovo directly for repair? I don't have a recovery disk and Lenovo said it will provode me with one.

Answer:HDD failed within 3 months. Request Lenovo to replace with an SSD under warranty?

Hi rad77,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums!

It?s always good to go with what the brand offers you always, as per the Lenovo policy Lenovo is responsible to replace the part which is shipped with the system only, if you need an upgradation to your laptop either you can buy it from Lenovo authorised service centre or you can purchase it from any of the online store but before that I kindly request you to check here  what does HDD and SSD do.

I would suggest you to go for Lenovo service and more over they are even providing you the recovery disk so, it is more beneficial for you rather than choosing which doesn?t fetch you anything.

Please let me know whether the above suggestion helped you.
Thank you, have a good day.

Hi all, i'm currently having some issues with the T420 in regards to the hinges. I got it on April 2011 and was reasonably happy with it, OK there was a stuck pixel but its not directly in line of vision so I can live with that. However after 5 months of relatively normal usage my hinges have become really loose, so much that at some angles it can't support the weight of the lid. It's disappointing considering the hinge on my 4 year old T61 is still relatively strong in comparison. I have 3 years warranty on the system so I thought I might as well call Lenovo Support (UK) to get it fixed, however the Lenovo rep stated that it can't be replaced under warranty as its within "reasonable wear and tear" and therefore, require a fee if I want to send it in for replacement. For sure I understand if it's 2 years old or something but 5 months? Something is not right. I was able to bide some time with the Lenovo rep to keep my case number open for a few days in regards to this, but I would like some clarification on the issue with the warranty on hinges. Reading posts on this forum indicates that the hinges are covered under warranty (ref) as long it hasn't been involved in heavy damage which mine hasn't. I also uploaded some videos of the issues i'm facing so you guys can have an idea. Is it unreasonable for me to get this fixed under warranty? I would really like some help on this, particularly from the senior mods or staff who can help me on my issue since I only have... The Desktop was left over winter and failed to boot on return. It freezes on an ASUS screen - is this a Boot Screen? Have to pull the plug to shut down. Cannot view XP CD disk or Floppy Start-UP disk. Booting with F8 or Delete does not always enter CMOS setup or Safe Mode. It did ONCE boot up to Windows and seemed to work OK. I tried to run CHKDSK but it froze again on the ASUS screen during a normal Restart. New CMOS battery fitted but it made no difference. When I get into Safe Mode, the screen is almost illegible due to flicker as is the ASUS screen (at which it freezes). The exit options at the ASUS screen do not work - ie Tab and Alt F2. When I can get into CMOS / BIOS Set-UP the screen is stable and all seems correct. It does not recognise the XP CD on boot-up. It used to recognise the Start-up floppy and go into Safe + Command Prompt, but now it says it is the wrong disk.Any ideas on how to tackle this? Thanks in anticipationKen

Possible that the harddrive is not running at its normal speed, freezing up or slowing down. Or has quit.My computer took 20 min. to boot the other day.I was watching the HDD activity indicator light, and it would remain on, and not rapidly blinking.Mechanical devices do have problems.Harddrive manufacturers have software for download for testing HDD.--------------------------------------------------------Mostly on Desktop computers----DUST collects inside computers, and can cause hardwaredamage, overheating, faulty fans, faulty drivesIs yours clean.????http://www.makeitsimple.com/project...^^^ Some pictures ^^^

Hello,I have had this computer less than 2 months. Yoga 11s.   I have not transferred any of my files from my old computer; have only downloaded a couple of simple apps and the MS office and the occasional movie and my computer is saying my HD is full.  Today I tried to download a movie only 600 mb and it paused and said I don't have enough space tho when I look, there is more than 2 GB on my HD.  The other fun thing that I've spent hours trying to figure out is that my windows 8 OS is also showing full memory; again have barely done anything on this computer.  It offered the disk check bit where it compresses and gets rid of old files, but 1 hour later, bet the same message and it's showing RED--almost at max capacity. So frustrated. Can you offer any suggestions?

I want to preface this message so that others may understand how horrible an experience it is to claim anything on the manufacture warranty with Lenovo.  Previous to my company using Lenovo we used Dell. Their support was always top notch. They came on site to replace broken or defective parts and all with in 1-2 day period. The Lenovo warranty experince will start by you being suffeld around to 3-4 different Indian speaking help desk locations, and after explaining your issues 4-5 times they will inform you that you must ship the laptop in for replacement services. This will require you to be with out your laptop for 7-10 business days. That in my book is  unacceptable to any standards. IBM Thinkpads used to be known for how well they supported the business user, now we are told that you have no other options but to ship the laptop and wait more than a week for the matter to be resolved.  This is the last straw from a frustrated IT manager, and we will be taking our business to a vendor that values customer support and stands behind thier products better.

Answer:Frustrating Warranty Experience X220 Laptop 4 Months old broken LCD Screen

While I can sympahise - when you purchased your lenovo products if you did not purchase the on-site service what exactly do you expect ? Like anything else, no-one can return a product for service without following procedures and such returns, repairs etc all take time. So - whats the issue - you are getting exactly what you paid for .......

I purchased a Lenovo G570 and noticed within 3 months the screws at the bottom were dropping out unknown to me. Next the rear edges cracked open everytime I opened up the Laptop TO USE IT and made a cracking sound , same noise when you close it.I am highly disappointed in this Laptop. I was considering getting a Lenovo Tablet but after this nightmare , I will keep as far away from Lenovo as I can. Also I bought the Laptop at the end of August and was shocked to discover that my Warranty expired a couple of weeks before it should have so to replace the Screws I was told to ship it to the factory for repair would cost over $250 !I see some Screw Kits available for much less than this.I am now just waiting for the Whole Laptop to fall apart but will not be repairing it , I will just throw it in the Garbage Dump and consider it a waste of money.I will go for a Toshiba or Apple next time.Never Ever Again ....NOT A CHANCE WILL I EVER PURCHASE LENOVO !  SHAME ON THEM !

Answer:Highly Dissapointed G570 falling apart within 3 months and now cracking close to end of Warranty

It will keep falling apart. Don't buy anymore Lenovo products. They will just beak into pieces. They are shameless and disgusting. My laptop just keeps falling apart.

I bought my S430 instead of a mac, what a mistake! After only five months of light use the charge point on the laptop is loose internally and the laptop won't now charge (it sometimes does with a bit of wiggling). Rang lenovo to be told that this is wear and tear and not covered on the warranty! Repairs are going to be £212 plus VAT, plus parts.the repair will cost nearly half the price of a new one. Disgusted at the expense! Won't be buying another, oh and also tried to 'upgrade' to Windows 8 dont bother, battery manager doesnt work etc etc. Oh and made recovery disks as per instructions they dont work and now cant return to windows 7 without...you guessed it buying new ones from Lenovo. I feel like I have been had.

Answer:S430 broken charge point, five months old, not covered on warranty, gutted! Buy a mac!

Hi Armitage_Shanks,

If you'd like, I can put in a request to have that serviced.
If you are still under warranty this repair should be covered.
PM me so that I can gather the needed information.

I bought a brand new Lenovo Thinkpad T460S in Nov 2016. This is supposed to be their premium business laptop range. I uses it daily, simple computer work. Lately it starts to have problem hibernating and waking from sleep/hibernation. Yesterday the steel left hinge suddenly broke. I contacted the Lenovo Support today and they replied : The three year international Warranty does not cover the hinges. It's like you buy a new car, then the hinge of your drive breaks and it's not covered by warranty? What kind of logic is that? They want to charge me for the repair. I am getting a quote from them, this is probably the last Thinkpad I will ever buy from Lenovo! I am getting a quote from them. I wonder if we can get the part myself and attempt a self repair. But this is deeply disappointing!

Hi,

Well day before yesterday it was reported by a user of one of the domains on my server that the domain showed expired, but it was not a big deal, they kept trying and finally got it to work... then yesterday it was worse, 2 sites reported it.. now all my sites if i do direct url input or use the icon i get the ww2 page, but if i look anon, i get the right page..

otherwise what im getting is this image attached.

so I finally figure out that checking into dns and also checking the site using a proxy anon the site is fine. so then I suspected it was some kind of global malware.

I ran malware bytes and it found some files, I deleted them and all seemed well again, tried all browsers and all sites came up. But then in 5min the browser was hijacked again. So i removed FF and Chrome and IE 11, then ran malware bytes again and found nothing, just finished a scan and nothing found.

so now im stuck. im not sure what to do now..

whatever this is, it only seems to affect my domains because all other sites seem to work, i think it someone trying to sell domain names and hijacking browsers and reseller hosts. but how do i get this off here.

i have lots of sites but one you can look at is www.icodemods.com

any ideas. here is my scan from malware bytes when it fixed it before. (the first time)
