errors

Question: errors

Hi everyone, I have had a few problems and hope someone out there can help me. Norton AntiVirus has encountered an internal program error (3005,597) and sometimes when I am doing a Live Update I also get error LU1845 sometime ago I fixed the problem ???? with using Lusetup--mind you I don't know or understand what I did, it just worked for awhile. Also the last plug at the bottom of my tower doesn't CLICK in nice and tight, so sometimes I have to play with it till the green light comes on. Could this be the root of all my problems? It's not the cable that doesn't fit, because we have switched ends and they clip right in to the monitor -no problem. It's the tower that can't clasp it properly.Thanking you all in advance=bedest

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Wake from sleep is slow and I loose control over curser for 10 sec.

These are most of the errors and their numbers that I have been getting over the past 5 days.

Boot duration 100,101,109,103
Stanby duration 300

Driver caused delay
351 Thumbdrive driver delay
302 Peer-to-Peer Tunneling Protocol
302 RAS SSTP Miniport Call Manager
302 NVIDIA MCP Networking Function Driver
351 ACPI Driver for NT
302 RICOH SD/MMC Driver
Shut down delay 200, 201
Shut down caused by Services delays 203 many different services

I have done the boot and shutdown trace (Gathering a Startup, Shutdown, Sleep, Hibernate, or Reboot Trace[2]=Performance%20Maintenance) and have pm'ed you the link.

I am doing a clean install and would like to get these errors handled before I make an Image.
Thanks for your help!

Answer:Boot errors,shutdown errors, wake errors.

Those numbers are in milliseconds, so all of them added up isn't going to amount to anything. Your trace didn't merge (you have a kmode and a umode .etl file), so I'm merging this manually (meaning I may be missing some portion of the data - I would hope not, but it is possible). There are a couple of things here (the nvidia driver is causing network stack delays during boot, disk fragmentation is apparent, especially in the MFT, Windows Defender is enabled and scanning, heavily, during boot, etc), but I did find something interesting. the xmarks IE add-in seems to cause about a 10 second driver request at about the same time csc is loading, which also occurs at around the same time that an svchost is doing a scan of the registry (and a lot of random writes during read). I also notice that the system spends a lot of time on D:, but the disk information says the partition is C: on a Fujitsu MHW2160BH - that seems a bit odd, so I'm wondering which is which.

Ultimately, however, I am not sure it's anything you've done, per se, but it's a convergence of things here that are conspiring to slow your system. It might make sense to do a few things:
Stop/Disable Windows Defender, and replace it with an actual antivirus/antimalware product like Avast, MSE, etc.
Disable/remove xmarks temporarily - it's not doing you any favors
Run a manual disk defragmentation pass, and then defragment free space as well with defrag.exe (see /? for options)
Make sure your nvidia drivers are up to ... Read more

I am new, so I may have not posted this in the correct category and I may not be as specific/descriptive as I should, but here goes:

From first recieving my lenovo t61 , after logging in an error pops up:
"Error in C:\Windows\System32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\LXCFtime.dll
Missing Entry: Run DLLEntry"

Also, upon attempting to run System Restore, it rebooted and told me it did not complete succesfully:
"An unspecified error occured during system restore."
When I went into info it had no info regarding that error and the help site online didn't help much either. I tried different restore points, I tried the recommended restore point, and I tried creating a new restore point, but it still gives the same "unspecified error" message.

I had installed a Lenovo printer, driver and took my PC in for service (due to the error msg). The guy installed cjr730EN.exe to fix the problem, which went away for awhile, but has reappeared approx. 2 months later.

The guy didn't seem to concerned that restore didn't work, but I am. Any suggestions as to the problem....
I am considering reinstalling vista and wiping everything... do not want to.

Also, I have MSOffice 2003 which did not fully install. Word and Excel kind of worked (I haven't bothered with the others) but often the keyboard goes screwy (? becomes a weird E symbol, etc.) and I tried to uninstall it but it says these things:
"Error 1913. Setup cannot update file

Hi peoples!

As my subject line suggests, I'm having more than a couple of computer difficulties. When I start the computer, I get a screen freeze and have to press Ctrl,Alt,Del once before any programs will startup.
A lot of probs with internet connection and slowness while surfing as well as a lot of pop up ads in my face.
There are system boxes coming up with registry and dll errors and the whole system seems SLOW.

I use spybot regularly, but it doesn't seem to pick up everything??!
One error that comes up often is -
0x00404f94 Windows/System32/exploer.exe Application Error

So I pretty much have the works going on here!

If anyone is brave enough to give me a pointer or two then I would welcome any suggestions....

Sorry but I don't see any antivirus software running there and you have a lot of virus/trojan type processes running.

You need to do an on-line scan to remove the problems and also think about installing one (AVG is good, and its free). Then post a log back once that is cleaned up.

Issues I refer to include these to show how bad it is:

Last night I think I picked up the Sasser virus. McAfee caught it and advised me, but then I started getting the fake pop-ups regarding system being infected. I've had forced shutdowns, "your system is unstable", critical system errors with "Process: LSASS.EXE, module: Kernal321.dll" and others.Currently on my screen, there is a pop-up of:"SysFader: IE7EXPLORER.EXE - Application Fatal Error". So one day my computer froze and i had to manually push the button to turn it off. Ever since then i've been having this rundll.exe error when i log in. But recently the computer froze again and i had to manually restart it and its been getting more errors. Like now i have these svchost.exe errors that pop up on the log in screen and i have to hit ok to terminate the program or cancel to "debug" the program, and no matter what i push i have like 5 of these errors to go through and then when i log in, the computer is like inaccessible. There is no sound anymore (just the beeps that come on with the error message, but they dont come through the speakers), the blue toolbars and appearance of xp has reverted to the old windows 98 silver look, and the internet doesn't work. I know my connection is fine because im using the wireless connection perfectly. I've done repair installs on windows, and sometimes it works and my computer works fine with the exception of all the errors i have to go through, but recently the repair installs just freeze at the please wait screen before you log in for the first time. So basically i dont know what to do.
I'm hoping i don't have to format the drive because theres like 8000 songs on it and some documents (i backed up the documents, but have yet to backup the songs), but if thats my only option i guess ill try to salvage what i have.
sorry for the rant-like post but its just getting really frustrating and making m... Read more

Answer:svchost errors, rundll errors, now the computer basically doesn't work

Hi Shaftmonky, and welcome to BleepingComputer.

If you have done a couple of repair installations then I would suspect the hdd drive. If you can find out who the manufacturer is you should go to their web site and download their diagnostic tool. You will need to burn it to a CD and then boot from it, you may need to changed the boot order in the BIOS so that the CD-ROM is the first device in the boot order, you will want to make the hdd the second device.

Hey guys,

Over the past couple of months my desktop (a custom built gaming rig - 8350FX, HD7870, M5A97, WD 500GB, 8GB etc) has been having problems... It started with me getting "Windows explorer has stopped working" crashes, and those increased until I gave up and reinstalled Windows 7. This seems to have (mostly) gotten rid of those errors. I have also been randomly getting "Disk read errors: ctrl-alt-delete to restart" when trying to boot sometimes... I'm not sure if this is related though.
The major problem just happened today, when I started my computer and saw a Windows applying registry updates message (or something), then when I logged in I got a BSOD telling me there is a "REGISTRY ERROR. STOP: 0x00000051"... how sad
Doing some research on google that is apparently a problem with hardware or something, but I am unsure what hardware... CPU, HDD, mobo??

I am absolutely stuck on how to fix this... Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks, -K

Answer:Registry Errors, Disk Read Errors, BSODs... What's Wrong?!

Can you even boot back into Windows at all? If so you will need to run this command from a command prompt:

sfc /scannow

Let that run and see if it will fix your issues. Windows never applies Registry updates. There has not been a single update released via Windows Update that has made changes to the Registry that you talk about. So you have something more serious wrong with your machine. Sounds like maybe a infection.

Hello,

I've had nothing but great luck with Windows 7 and my current computer for almost a year.

A couple weeks ago, however, I started getting intermittent, and seemingly random stop screens. There seems to be no pattern to the blue screens; sometimes I'll be gaming or sometimes the computer will be idle when it happens.

In addition to the stop screens, in some applications I have also had errors pop up in programs involving the term 'bad image' and the dbghelp.dll file. I replaced the dbghelp.dll file using the method described here: Debug Help Library (Windows)

Following those instructions and installing the software advised did nothing to fix the problem.

I've also noted that the user interface freezes briefly every so often, and then begins to work again. This happens in various programs like Adobe Photoshop and my amazon s3 browser, but also just on the windows desktop.

Randomly, also, various programs stop working and close.

Here is a link to the dump file info (both large and mini dump files), and a screen shot of the 'bad image' error (sorry for the file size): https://s3.amazonaws.com/only-PC_onl...oubleshoot.rar

I wouldn't consider myself a 'power user' and I don't over clock or do any other enthusiast activities.

Other things I've done to try and resolve this problem:
I have removed all items from the startup in msconfig.
I've removed any and all unnecessary applications.
I've scanned for viruses using Malware Bytes, AVAST and Microsoft Security Essen... Read more

Hi.

a few days ago got a laptop Satellite L50D-C-12Z for my son it came pre installed with win 8.1 but with a stick on it fully optimized for win 10.

Even Microsoft is forcing me to upgrade it to win 10 1511 and i did it as it is said model is optimized for win 10.
So upgrade was ok with no problems but later i got many problems as kernel errors what mean machine is restarting itself even doing nothing with it, graphics drivers breaking down and being recovered or if to look at windows reliability monitor you can see hardware related errors regarding problems with graphics chip or integrated or dedicated one or communication between them (integrated R6, dedicated R5 M330) even updated drivers with the new AMD graphics software that going to change old amd catalyst center updated bios to 5.2 version nothing helped.

So did recovery to factory settings , went back to win 8.1 originally installed.
Seems to be machine works better but if to look better at system event logs you can see warnings that not everything was ok, got a laptop freeze for about 1min once waited will it going to shut down itself or going to recover back and its recovered back normal but logs show that all cpu cores has been suspended for 51sec. or errors like kernel power 130 and 131.

Going to do more tests later. Strange thing is that you can play the game hour or 2 hours its not overheating all is ok you switch of the game and turn on skype and wow you get one of those errors ( could be that singl... Read more

Extremeboy suggested I post here to get specific expert help on a current symptom, which I am experiencing following a malware infection.(My original topic, where I've received instructions from extremeboy, is here, along with recent DDS logs, other scan logs, etc: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/248955/post-infection-further-help-needed-cant-run-chkdsk;-and-combofix-quarantine-question/ ).My system Software details:Windows XP Pro, Tablet Edition, SP3, all updates taken.Firefox used for all my web browsing.Windows Firewall runningAVG Free version running, updated regularlyMy Machine details:Gateway M280 tablet PC notebookCeleron processor 1.60 GHz504 MB of RAM.Hard Drive is a Fujitsu MHV2040BH (which is SATA, I believe).I need help finding an alternative way to run chkdsk.During the scan processes that eradicated my malware infection, I was prompted several times to run chkdsk to address disk errors. I have also experienced some glitches with document files getting corrupted.Unfortunately, I have been able to run chkdsk, despite many attempts. Answer:Unable to run chkdsk. Need to fix disk errors and file system errors.

Hi .Not sure why you would get that message when accessing the Recovery Console, that's typically a message that occurs when a user is trying to install XP on a SATA drive but the SATA drivers are not included in the install process.XP Tablet Edition is considered to be a superset of XP Pro...so there's no version conflict. That would seem to indicate that your hard drive is experiencing problems which Windows cannot solve.http://www.fujitsu.com/us/services/computi.../utilities.htmlI would use Version 1.12, but it appears that either of the first two will do the job.LouisDon't bother with the short test, do the long/extended test.

Hi all,  I ran a few device tests on my HDD today and it returned errors for the SMART short self test and the SMART drive self test in the stand-alone downloadble version of Lenovo Diagnostics as well as the conveyance self test in ThinkVantage Toolbox.  It keeps telling me that there's some sort of failure imminent.  The last one is a real head scratcher because I haven't dropped the computer. It's always been transported in hibernate mode. The "worst" thing that's ever happened were the times I carried it room-to-room or used it on a train, but those were few and far in between. So with this information, would I be remiss in calling up Lenovo support or is this something that could be fixed with a Windows reinstallation? Also, do you guys think this a cause of all the CLASSPNP hanging that prevents me from entering safe mode and from using nVidia's control panel software?  System specs:T520 w/ i5-2520, 7 x64, 4GB RAM, and nVidia card.

Answer:T520 throwing SMART errors; failing HDD causing other errors?

Hello kingofthering

The error detail you shared of hard drive is not due to software

Windows reinstalling will resolve this issue as I would suggest you to log the service case with support center.

Last night our second family PC Blue Screened with an 0x4E PFN_LIST_CORRUPT error which is a very strong indicator of corrupted memory.

Memory is Crucial Ballistix PC3200 (DDR 400) in a 4x512 (2 gigs) configuration in a socket 939 system Epox 9NPA+Ultra motherboard.

The specs on this memory are as follows: 2.8 voltage which the motherboard has it set at correctly as well as in 2T. The CAS is a designed 2-2-2-6 but mobo has it set at 3-4-4-8 which is probably due to the 4x512 configuration and 2T

Ran memtest and into the fifth PASS received 212 errors all in Test 5. I saw enough so I tested each stick individually for the minimum Passes of 7 and no errors on any of them even in test 5.

So I reinstalled all four sticks, checked the BIOS settings and ran Memtest again and in the very first PASS I received 20 errors in Test 5.

Any ideas?

Answer:4 Memory Sticks Installed = Errors; Individually Tested = Zero Errors

maybe i misread your testing method, but could it be a bad dimm?

You can safely uninstall the 'Bonjour' service. As far as I know its only use on a Windows machine is if you happen to use an Apple Air printer. You should be able to uninstall it through the Control Panel.

Hey Guys, I've posted this in two (probably applicable) places on this forum.

A disk read error usually points to a failing hard drive. A very weak power supply can cause the hard drive to run improperly too

Need some guidance.

I'm trying to help a friend who got hit by something, virus, malware etc. Cleaned that up but....

In looking over his Win 7 64bit Home Premium system, I noticed his Windows Update had not run in over a year. So I tried to run it manually and have been going down a rabbit hole ever since.

It looks like something has completely removed all the subkeys to "Component Based Servicing" which is core to the whole Update process. TrustedInstaller is throwing all sorts of 126 errors.

I tried to run an sfc /scannow and it fails

So last I ran a Readiness Test. Whoa, it fixed 8 and left 5478 errors. Almost all related to the regkeys needed for Component Based Servicing.

Is there an overall re-install for Windows Update and it's dependent components? Is there any chance this laptop can be saved? I've run out of idea's. All googled fixes have failed so I'm open to all suggestions at this point

Thx

I seem to be having SSL/random errors when sites are loading.
The errors are random with no correlation between sites times or anything like that.

My original post is located here http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576281/virusmalware-possible-iat-hookrootkit/
I was told to post here and link that post, in any case it has a lot more information on what I had found and problems I was having.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium SP.1.

The original problem I was having was that I would get these random errors or similar when loading pages on anything that used internet so it wasn't one specific browser.
Now after the scans I haven't noticed any errors coming up or stopping me from going to these sites but then again its random so I am not sure here. While scanning I found the suspicious paths in .dll files from using RogueKiller which made me suspect something worse?

I followed the prep guide starting at step 6 as I was told to, there are other logs in my previous post listed above.
Here are the logs to FRST scan.

There is not single error which I can name, as crashes produced many BOSD errors

Recent error was " Driver Expool Corrupted" while I was gaming Need for speed 2016 game with Nvidia Shadow recording on

Please also note that I had driver verifier signature validation ON as per guidelines of this forum, I will disable it now and let you know whether I have same error again

I have attached here two errors files for two different BSOD instances for your review and analysis

Please help

Thanks

Have you run the Memtest86 test? It would be a good first step to thoroughly check your memory.

Hi,

About 4 weeks ago my laptop suddenly froze and a blue screen appeared with a "kernel data error" message. Since then every time I turn my laptop on it comes up with a black screen saying "non disk or disk drive error." If I turn it off and leave it for about an hour it comes on normally and stays on for about half an hour until it freezes and I get the blue screen again. And so this carries on. Sometimes the error message I get on the blue screen is a "kernel stack error."

I am by no means clued up when it comes to computers and so please forgive me if I'm explaining things in a very basic way. Sometimes at the bottom of the blue screen it says "atapi.sys" followed by lots of numbers and letters. Sometimes it says "win32k.sys." It's also come up with "c000021a" and "unknown hard drive error."

I don't have any installation cd.

Is there anything I can do or is my laptop gone?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please note, like I said, I'm not clued up so please explain anything in an easy to understand way

Thanks

Answer:Kernel data/stack errors, non disk errors

In my experience, the "win32k.sys." is a fairly common blue screen event. It's probably associated with something, a program or an update, that was installed on your laptop that altered Windows in an unacceptable way. If you aren't crazy about the idea of a new PC, you could obtain/purchase an installation disk for the OS, which is very cool to have anyway, and then run a Windows Repair.

Just would need to know the OS you are using to direct you to instructions for the repair. It's a very viable option that doesn't remove any of your files or settings. In XP it will remove Windows updates, but those can be easily re-installed...

I have had this problem before and encountered it numerous times. The repair option is great, but on the off chance it does not fix the problem, you are likely looking at a bad HD. Still, running the repair could fix the problem, giving you the ability to test your HD as a precaution with software from the HD manufacturer...

I was overclocking my A64 3500+ for a while, then I decided to run stock again. After that I started getting random BSODs a bit after I booted up (up to 20 mins after). If I don't BSOD, my computer seems to run stable for long periods easily. I think it may have something to do with my memory. Sometimes when I BSOD, my computer won't boot back up giving me a "Error loading into OS" error. In this case I usually turn off the power to my PSU and I can reboot into Windows normally. In the event viewer I randomly get this sometimes, it seems that my cables are secure though. "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\D."

hi darius,

pretty awesome computer you got there. hmmmm......there could be a number of problems, which hdd is your primary boot drive? whichever one is it, try replacing the sata cable or ide cable with a spare cable.

also check out www.majorgeeks.com and download memtest86 from the memory category. then put the program in a floppy and bootup with it and test out your ram for any errors.

if you can too, install the latest chipset drivers for yoru motherboard, good luck.

Hi there. i've had this problem since i first install windows 8. i ignored it and its really bugging me now since i need to open boot screen to turn on the system. Everytime i tried to turn it on, it turns into a black screen with only my pointer showing.

I've tried following existing 'solutions' by googling it. I've done the /scannow and it shows that theres nothing wrong. i tried to diagnose with the repair thing and it leads me to my next problem. it says i got the srt/srttrail.txt problems. and i cant automatically fix it. after another round of google and 'solutions'. i tried to do a refresh, yet i cant since my computer keeps saying that the media inserted is not valid.

is there any other way for me to fix this problem without going to the store (which i doubt will help) or start a fresh install?i really dont want to lose all of my files and i dont want to go to the torture of installing windows 8 again (i had lots of rare problems installing it too)

Oh and some additional problems. everytime i tried to do a WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab
it tells me that Problems installing recent updates is Not Fixed all the time. and Check for missing or corrupt files is detected but nothing is done.

Answer:Errors after Errors (Black Screen, srttrail.txt, unable to

Have you tried the dism command in administrator command prompt ?

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

I assume you have access to a command prompt since you said you ran sfc /scannow.

If so & you have restore points made you could try typing in rstrui.exe to get system restore to pop up & restore to a point before the present issue started.

Does this mean that all data on the hard drive is free of corruption?

It contains mostly a copy of my Flac files and I was wondering if this scan is telling me that none of the music saved has any corruption?

I contracted the System Tool 2011 virus about a week ago, and I think I successfully removed it by using Temp File Cleaner by OldTimer and then running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Immediately after I solved that issue, I started seeing the Google redirect issue, where search result links were redirected to a handful of other sites intermittently. I've tried to detect and remove whatever is causing the issue with MBAM, Ad-Aware, and TDSSKiller. I thought the TDSSKiller actually did it, as the problem stopped for a while after I ran it last night, but it was back again this afternoon, so I ran MBAM again, which turned up three infected objects, and now my system is supposedly all clean again.

In addition to the Google redirect, two rundll errors have been popping up on start-up, the errors report that wespgr.dll and ujavozer.dll are both missing.

I'm also getting the following error whenever I exit MBAM: "The instruction at "0x6109b271" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program"

In addition, I'm getting a failure to initialize error when I start up the Sims 3 Launcher, which from what I've found is usually caused by a registry issue.

The first DDS log is below, and I've attached the Attach.txt DDS log and GMER ark.txt log as well.

I was trying to troubleshoot two errors in Event Viewer and know they were caused by Easy CD Creator 5 so I uninstalled it and then my DVD players would not work. cdralw2k.sys and cdr4_2k.sys were the cause of the errors and were incompatible with Windows 7. Did a system restore to get the DVDs working again, but I know all this did is put the two files back in play. I know how to uninstall Easy CD Creator 5 to get rid of the files causing the errors, but how do I get my DVDs working again? The hardware drivers do not start due to the driver cdrom.sys giving an error in Event Viewer.

Answer:Easy CD Creator 5 errors, removed now CDROM errors

PxHlpa64.sys. Most common cause of a cdrom.sys error, and very widely used by Roxio. In my best guess it is still present there, and it usually remains even after uninstalling Roxio products.

Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers and\or C:\Windows\syswow64\drivers. If PxHlpa64.sys is present there, delete it.

Let us know the results.

Hi,

The family computer is playing up and to the best of my knowledge the computer in question just simply suddenly stopped working as it should. I am unable to get the 'default' welcome screen upon start up and am getting the logon box where you type in a username and passworld. I know how to get rid of this, user accounts>enable welcome screen - but it will not solve the problem.

This is just the start of the problems. I get a whole host of errors which popup one after another. This is a summary of the errors which popup:
userinit.exe bad image
hpztsb05.exe bad image
psdiagnostic.exe bad image
vscplay.exe bad image
ituneshelper.exe bad image
zlclient.exe bad image
wcescomm.exe bad image

Once these errors pop up the desktop picture appears, but no icons/start menu are available. I have to ctrl/alt/delete then run a command (such as control or winword) then I get the icons and the start menu. However most programs cannot run at all, for example I cannot run Spybot, I get the error: 'SpybotSD.exe - bad image' 'The Application of DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\winspool.drv is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette'.

Basically I cannot tell if this is a spyware/adware/virus/HDD failure problem. I can however run AVG antivirus, and it finds no problems.

Does anyone know how I can get the computer working again? Thanks for any help in advance.

HELP!! I know that it is best to keep a request for help focused on a single problem but, with all that I?m facing, I am at a loss as to where I should even post this request. It seems to me that it is possible that all of the issues in this post are related. So, any help and guidance will be greatly appreciated!

I?m constantly, and unpredictably, getting ?svchost.exe ? Application Error? errors. The memory addresses in these errors are not always the same. I have numerous screen shots if they would help to diagnose. On at least one occasion each, I received these errors: ?avcscanx.exe - Application Error? and ?TFService.exe - Application Error?. Again, I have screen shots if needed. And, clicking on "OK" on these errors does nothing (at least nothing we can see).

I?ve also been getting ?hpcmpmgr? errors (at shutdown).

When using the internet, there will be times where pages take longer and longer to open. And I will begin to see more ?page not found? errors on pages I KNOW exist. Again, however, these errors are unpredictable and intermittent. Sometimes I can re-start the browser and the problem will go away for a while. (I use IE 7 and Firefox 2.0.0.14) Sometimes re-booting the system doesn?t even help. It can take two or more re-boots.

When I try to boot up in Safe mode, computer freezes & I have to do a hard start.

I cannot run CHKDSK. When I reboot, the blue screen comes up & I get a four line message stating the file sys... Read more

Hey, prepare for a big post.
So first of I will begin with the previous issue I had and story that went along with it to give you some background info.
I was away for all of December in Japan and when I come back home to my computer (working at the moment) it was having some issues with the RAM (ie. not reading all of it) so I decided to mess around with it a bit and try and reconnect it.. Then I try to restart my computer but nothing happened... After working through all the hardware, figured out it was a dead motherboard.. ASrock 970 extreme 3.. So I sent it away to have it repaired/replaced as it was still under warranty.

A month and a half later I get back the supposedly working replacement motherboard, which when I tried to boot didn't work again and turned out to be dead again.. (got the local service store to check to be sure). 7 weeks later and 100 odd bucks later (postage + service fees etc) I got fed up and tired of all the messing around that talking with retailer (also I start university in a few days) brought about so I just went out and bought another motherboard ASUS M5A97 R2.0 and installed everything and it booted fine to windows and was super fun happy times..

Now onto to the problems that ensued and that I am currently trying to fix... There is a few so I will list them in order of their apparent appearance to me.

I was hoping that someone may be able to help me decipher what sort of error messages I encountered as a result of running MemTAest86 for a few hours. I have gotten 72 error messages, and I have no way of knowing how severe these messages are. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:MemTest86 Errors Questions - 72 errors recieved when running after 3hr

RAM (memory) test:
This will require memtest on a bootable CD or USB stick.
RAM - Test with Memtest86+
This tutorial will show you how to run a good test with RAM. Any error is bad though. Do the part of the tutorial where swapping the RAM modules to different slots, checking each one idividually, etc. What is the exact model numer and brand of your RAM?
CPUz will help with the ID of the RAM. Be aware of the installer and uncheck stuff you don't want.
CPU-Z CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

This explains what I understand about memtest.

I recently installed Windows 10 using a clean install USB method as per MS's website. I have a repeating error since Dec 9 which is below. I have tried to search for a solution but in most cases it only covers windows servers or shared point. I have ran sfc /scannow but it didn't detect any errors. The other solutions involved editing the registry or rebuilding the perf library. This is something I feel more comfortable doing with direct communication with tech support rather than using support from threads dating back years covering other OS such as Vista and even Win2k. Hi my name is Peter I am new to this so please excuse any mistakes in posting this I might make. I have very recently built myself a new pc to game on. Once I put the system together and installed windows 10 almost immediately I got BSOD with a random error message. Every time I turn on the computer at some point within at most 20min I will get the BSOD with a diff error message. Sometimes I will get it as soon as the pc turns on and other times it will boot seemingly normally and I will use it for short period of time before getting the BSOD with a different error message. The pc is unusable in its current state and I am loosing it trying to figure out what to do.
PS: The first time I installed windows 10 i used a boot usb that my friend made me and when I gave it back I made my own from microsofts website to see if the boot device was the problem but even when i reinstalled windows the same problem happened. I have also tried using different hard drives (both regular not ssd) which did not solve anything.
Errors: (Memory management, System thread exception not handled, irql not less or equal, kernel security check failed, page fault in non page area, etc.)

PSS: Iv posted all of my components in my profile

Hi

Recently I am facing blue screen errors while gaming and recording with Nvidia ShadowPlay

Please help

Thanks

Answer:Blue screen errors while gaming - random errors

It would be more helpful if you could provide the full set of files as requested in the BSOD Posting instructions

Have you run the Memtest86 test? It would be a good first step to thoroughly check your memory.

Last night I had my PC (XP Home) running just fine until I turned on my laptop (XP Pro) and it made my PC reboot. This isn't the first time that it has rebooted when my laptop turns on. I think it started doing this when I networked my computers.
When the PC rebooted, it started popping up a bunch of firewall messages asking me if I wanted to unblock programs from connecting to the internet. All the programs were ones that have always been allowed. The firewall must have reset somehow.
My anti-virus program told me that it couldn't connect to the internet (which has also happened a few times before)
When I opened Internet Explorer it went to the "The page cannot be displayed" page.
in the address bar it had "res://shdococlc.dll/DNSERROR.HTM#http://www.google.com/

I cannot connect to any websites unless I use their IP address.
I have no trouble connecting to the router, and none of the settings have changed there.
My other computers have no trouble connecting to the internet through the router either.
The network shares on both computers still work.

I have tried running the "Network Diagnostics for Windows XP" and it told me I had a problem with the Winsock provider catalog, and I let it reset the catalog to the default configuration. It didn't help the problem any.

I tried using WinSock Fix and it didn't help any either.
I also tried using System Restore to see if what ever was changed could be reversed.
After that I was able to... Read more

My wife was having problems with her computer recently. Once windows was up she would get a hard drive error and it would shut down. We started it in safe mode and ran malwarebytes on it and it cleaned up a few things, but did not resolve the problem. With a friends help we found an executable file in the temp folder named "IJJGlTIlJx.exe" who advised us to delete the file. After deleting the file it is now booting up without hard drive errors, but when attempting to navigate to facebook, twitter, hotmail, youtube and some other sites it does not load the pages correctly.

I found another topic that someone had the same .exe file on their system, but am not sure if our issue relates to theirs or not.

Hello,
I am getting alot of errors when opening webpages.I just got one that reads:

Transport error (#12031) while retrieving data from endpoint `/ajax/inline_comments.php': Unknown HTTP error #12031

I keep getting these alot.
I downloaded and ran spyware blaster and it found a couple of LOP things but I tried running it again and it now has locked me out with an error so I had to uninstall it. Same with spybot S&D it completely wont run now so I uninstalled that to.
And it takes forever to load anything. It took me 45 mins to finally get logged on here. Then the whole thing just shut down and had to log back on again.

My clock keeps resetting to the wrong time and if I'm reading pages they change to different pages while I'm reading.

I have run AVG and it comes up clean.

What happened:
I was about to allow the Flash plugin in Pale Moon web browser to load a Flash youtube video when numerous pop-up windows stating "Bad Image" errors appeared. Some Bad Image errors are related to a .dll, 1 was related to Panda Antivirus Free which I have installed.

I panicked and immediately rebooted my laptop. After rebooting, I couldn't open any programs at all. A pop-up window will appear, stating the full path of the program and then state "The parameter is incorrect.".

I can still open Microsoft related stuff such as Control Panel, Command Prompt etc.

I tried running sfc \scannow, but it keeps getting stuck at 76%, stating "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."

Answer:Bad Image errors and "The parameter is incorrect" errors.

This very same thing happened to me today, although it had nothing to do with running Flash.  I did some Windows Updates (they fixed the Freak vulnerability) and there were a bunch of other important and optional updates that I installed as well.  Rebooted.  Logged in.  No problems.  My wife has her own account on this computer, so she logged me off, logged on, did a couple emails, and logged off.  When I logged back on, I got all kinds of popups about bad images and parameter being incorrect, etc.

I tried to run System Restore but it wouldn't load.  Rebooted to Safe Mode with Command prompt and tried to run "rstrui.exe" as outlined in online instructions.  Windows couldn't find it.  I ran "explorer.exe" from the command line and it brought up the GUI, and from there I ran System Restore to a restore point from yesterday, before any updates or issues.

Restoring to yesterday's files did not help.

Opened up My Computer and right-clicked on my C: Drive (windows drive) and scheduled a Chkdsk with repair (not bad sector repair, though, as that takes forever).  I rebooted.  Chkdsk ran and found no errors.

Had to leave for work.  So that's where I'm at.  But it's interesting that you're getting this today just as I am.

I'm thinking - but won't be able to check this until later - that the registry setting for opening exe files has been changed/hijacked/corrupted.  Here's on... Read more

Hi,I've got a Windows XP Machine that was running SP3. I would get Win32 Generic Host errors, also svchost errors and sometimes my desktop wouldn't load! Windows update doesn't even open, it shows nothing! Sometimes programs I click on just does nothing. I wouldn't even shut down unless I have it the hard shutdown (at the wall). I've tried manually running programs such as explorer from TaskMgr when the desktop doesn't load but still nothing! (dekstop only sometimes does this)I've tried a Windows SP2 disk, and used repair, I also get a scvhost error on the install screen, but the repair went through, but hasn't helped!Any ideas?

Answer:Win32 errors, svchost errors, tried repair

Another thing that confuses me is according to Combo Fix & The security centre, AVG 2011 Free is protecting my computer, however, I see no trace of It at all on my system?

I am running IE 6 SP3, Windows XP. I receive schedule updates from Microsoft and MicroTrend Security (my security software). Three days ago I started receiving intermittent screens where they it tells me that Internet Explorer encountered an error and then when I view the details I see different file names depending on when it happens these are ones I have seen: mshtml.dll, ntdll.dll, flash9f.ocx
I have no clue if this is hardware related or something malicious. I am including my hijack this log file.

By the way, as a remedy, I tried upgrading to IE 8 and it caused more problems so I did a system restore to two days prior to the problem starting.

Please take a look at let me know how to proceed. Thanks.

A few years ago my older laptop had what I like to refer to as a stroke. I don't remember the exact events which led up to it, but my laptop began to take a really long time to do the simplest commands like opening a Firefox browser or even going to standby mode. Around the same time I got the "smart failure predicted on hard disk 0" error message. I would bypass it not knowing what else to do and things got progressively worse (around the same time I found that my battery would no longer hold a charge) and slow to the point where I just up and bought a new laptop altogether.

Now it's 3 years later and I want to use the old laptop to run some software 24/7, so basically I want to keep this laptop at home connected to the net so it can do its thing around the clock which I cannot do with my new laptop because I take it most everywhere I go (including work).

My question is, will replacing the hard drive fix the performance errors I've been having? It's an Acer 1641 WLMi and replacing the hard drive looks to run me about $100. I'm wondering if it's better to just buy a cheap desktop computer for about twice that and use that instead. If a simple harddrive swap would fix my problems I'll opt for that but I don't know much about this stuff so here I am.

If anyone has any insight it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Answer:Will Replacing My HardDrive Fix These Errors/Are These Errors Connected?

You'd also have to reinstall windows on the new hard drive as well since cloning the old one might result in the same performance problems. It depends on the precise cause but if some system files were corrupted, they'd carry right over.
By the way, it sounds like you're bitcoin mining and that kind of a system wouldn't be fast enough to pay for the electricity :P otherwise if it's something else, that should work great. The only problem is, most people buy laptops without a windows installation disc since most vendors don't offer them. Without the onboard restore partition available, you're going to need an OEM or retail copy of the installation disc for whatever operating system it was running. If you just download one, they tend to be corrupt or carry viruses or have activation hacks that they didn't say they did. If you look at ebay for license-less copies of the disc, that works, otherwise ask really nicely at a local computer repair shop :P

Hello,
I hope I can explain my computer issues completely. I was having problems awhile back and decided to do a recovery with backup. I also was using a registry program and think I really screwed things up. Basically I am facing errors that make the programs shut down and freezing up while online. All of the errors are the ones that come with Windows or Microsoft and ask if you want to send them on or close. I always send them. Slow loading Outlook Express and cannot use my DVD program because it is missing Direct Show MPEG 2 Decoder. These errors are frequent and slow outlook is almost every time I use it. It seems the longer the computer is on, the worse the problems are. I use cable for my internet so it is always connected and always on. Restarting seems to help for a little while. I think I have some sort of NET Frame issue too.
Here is my report: (Thank you)

I'm really confused on whether I have bad RAM or not because of the memtest results I'm getting. I've already had to replace the mobo and graphics card in my nearly brand new built desktop as I had problems with both (mobo wasn't W7 compatible, graphics card crapped out).

As I had two major problems, I wanted to make sure my RAM was 100% okay. I currently have four 2GB Corsair Dominator DDR2 sticks of RAM (two matched pairs). Here is what I came up with via memtest...

The first time I ran the test, it came back with 28,416 errors in the first pass alone. Here is a screenshot.

I'm not sure what all the details mean other than there are a LOT of errors there. Any help interpreting those results?

So I knew I have potentially bad RAM or a bad slot on the mobo. I pulled two of the sticks (one of the matched pairs), then retested via memtest. I let all these memtests go for seven passes and 10 hours of run time just to be 100% for sure. 0 errors with those two sticks pulled.

So then I wanted to verify I didn't have a bad slot, so I moved the two known good sticks to the two now-empty slots. Ran memtest, 0 errors.

So then I knew at least one of the two sticks I originally pulled must be bad. I plugged one stick back in and ran memtest again to see if it was the bad stick, 0 errors.

So now I think I have the bad stick isolated to the only one not in the board now. But I want to verify and be 100% for sure, so I plug it in and ran memtest again fully expecting... Read more

Answer:Bad RAM? Help Interpret Memtest86 (28,416 errors then 0 errors)

Well, there is the possibility that some clutter got into the ram slots when you put the ram in the first time, which cleared out when you reseated the ram.

The other possibility is that the ram wasn't properly seated until you reseated them.

does anybody know about HXDL.exe errors & WJ View errors?? how to solve it then? Please help me....I'm really stress out with these problemz....! thankz!

Answer:HXDL.exe errors & WJ view errors

We need a bit more information...What OS are you using (XP, 2000, etc.) What hardware do you have? Also try downloading Spybot and Hijack This.

Run spybot first, when you run spybot open the online button and click on check for updates and install updates. Then run a scan. click on the fix selected items after the scan is done, that 'll repair any spyware that is on the system.

After you're done with Spybot, run Hijack This and scan the system. Save the log then copy and paste the log into another post in this topic.

I have two identical sticks of memory that were purchased together (Team Xtreem LV 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DD) on a ASRock Z75 Pro3 motherboard w/ a Intel Core i7-3770 Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz processor and a CORSAIR CMPSU-450VX 450W power supply.  The main components are 3 years old, except for the power supply which is 6 years old.  This is a computer I built for my mother.  There are intermittent BSOD's and the errors listed are inconsistent.

I ran Memtest86 and immediately got errors.  I then tested each stick separately, which resulted in no errors.  I tried the sticks in different slots, resulting in no errors when individually installed, but when I put in two (either in dual mode slots or separate (A1 and A2 or A1 and B1, etc...)) errors immediately appear.

I then disconnected all the hard drives/dvd from power and tried again.  Same results:  1 stick fine, 2 sticks errors.

I currently have only 1 stick in, to make the machine usable.  My question is, what is my next step to figure out if it is the motherboard (which is under warranty until October) or the processor or something else happening with the power supply?

The BSOD's have occurred both on Win 7 Ultimate and Win 10 (x64).  I am attaching reports from both 1 stick config and 2 stick config.  It is in a new install of Windows 10 x64.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.  ... Read more

Working on a friends machine she dropped off. I know this was working fine just a week or so back.

Machine is a Systemax Venture U24, Intel Mobo, 1M Ram, running XP Home Edition.

First off when I plug the power chord in, it powers right up without hitting power switch (thats bothersome in itself ). It then displays:

CMOS/GPNV Checksum Bad
CMOS Date time not set
Hit F4 to enter setup

In setup, the time is indeed way off.. set this back to normal and try boot. I get as far as seeing the desktop and icons, AVG Updater starts to display, goes to a big white box and reboots back to the CMOS error. CMOS the again displays wrong date/time. Cycle will just rinse and repeat.

Steps I have done:
- Replaced CMOS battery
- Tried loading "default CMOS Settings"
to no avail.

Googled this to death and have seen everything from reflashing the Bios to a bad power supply. Wanted to get any advice here before I venture down these paths.

As always appreciate the help/advice.

Answer:CMOS Errors errors and No Boot

Check the battery, remove and reinstall, and try another if necessary. AVG updater is a PITA IMHO, especially on older systems. Can you start in safe mode tap F8 while booting? If the battery is good and set properly it sounds like AVG is the possible fly in the ointment, although how it could be is a mystery to me. Replaced a CMOS battery on our older computer recently, updated time in taskbar with a double click on the clock and reset a few BIOS settings for booting, that was it.

In the last 4 weeks, I've had to do three system restores just to regain access to the internet.I've never in my life had to do a system restore to access the internet. The first time, sometime around June 17th, I inexplicably got "DNS server error" and "Windows 10 could not automatically identify proxy settings" even though they were. It worked one minute, and the next it didn't. I tried flushing the DNS but that didn't work so I tried a system restore. 5 days later, I got another error, this time saying "connection settings have been changed" out of the blue again. I had to do another system restore. Now I got "website took too long to respond" and I had to do yet another system restore. These are occurring out of nowhere, when the internet has been working fine. I could access couple websites (google and facebook) but for the rest, I kept getting these errors. I know it's my laptop/Windows 10 because I can go to all those sites on my iPad. I have an Acer Aspire laptop.

Answer:Why do I keep getting DNS server errors/timed out errors?

Everything in your description does point to some kind of infection, virus or malware. First thing do is plug your machine into the Router/Modem via an Ethernet cable [not an option on Tablets]. If your computer doesn't have the RJ45 Ethernet port you could get a USB to Ethernet adapter. Next is to get your antivirus program updated and run it. If it does not include antimalware, go to Majorgeeks and download the free version of Malwarebytes and install it, let it update then run it.

Oh, and your My Computer has 6GB [GigaByte] of RAM/Random Access Memory, it's speed is immaterial at this point as it mostly affects performance.

Hi and thanks for looking, it seems if i fix one error another replaces it. though Stop Code 0x3B I have had 5 times yet not continuous. (Sorry if it looks a muddle Head is about to explode)

Yesterday after running sfc /scannow and dskchk /f my computer managed a full hour before freezing. Then it was back to normal blue screens I mean...

I ran dskchk earlier and in USN journal the master file tables BITMAP attributes are incorrect, thus the volume Bitmap is incorrect windows also found problems with the file system. Yet running chkdsk with the "f" attribute does not fix it like it says it will.

Because I have a Sony systems recovery Win 7 disk I cannot do a repair instal, also my d/l speed is slow so can't d/l win 7 iso.

Going to microsoft is no help all there hot fixes wont run in safe mode. This I find stupid as hot fixes are for stop errors.

Now for something else (which is why i am here)... After running defrag and normal boot I let it stay at login screen after 30 mins it froze, on restart normal mode, and before login box came up my windows is not activated etc etc. Then when I logged in told me my copy is not genuine. Before could do anything about it got a stop 0x3B. Tried again after restart got as far as activation checker when it crashed again. Previously before the defrag this was not an issue.

All my troubles started when my "ex" d/l a program called windows loader (this is what happens when you beleive a person who says the... Read more

i was having problems with my computer telling me a lot of files were corrupt and programs not orking so decided to format my hard drive and re install windows 7 ultimate using the installation disk.

after it has completed i tried to put my wireless card disk in to install it and nothing happened. i tried to open my computer to get access to the c drive and was given an error message saying i may not have the appropriate permissions. i get this error message with any folder i try to open.

ive installed and tested the wireless card now thorugh safe mode but when i return to normal boot windows the wireless will not work and the error details show 0x80070005 as the error code.

my computer is completely out of action the way it is. i cannot access any files or install any programs when i boot normally

PLEASE HELP, this has been driving me mad for days

Answer:0x80070005 errors and you may not have appropriate permissions errors

Did you do a "Clean Install" (reformat and reinstall) Windows? What is the make and model of your computer? What do you mean by opening up the computer? Are the files you are trying to access on another HDD or partition separate from where Windows is installed on?

Try running it with one stick of memory. Do you get BSODs? Asus boards are quite well known about their pickiness about what RAN is used per board, the amount installed, and how it is configured.

Hi, I'm kind of at my wits end at this point. I don't know if my problems are fixable, or if I just need to get a new computer.

It started with just a few programs on my computer that had side by side configuration errors. I was advised to uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, but some would not reinstall correctly.

Several of the shortcuts on my computer are no longer working.

I have an HP Pavilion g7 running windows 7. I was using Firefox as a browser, but now I can't get adobe flash player to run on it at all. See posts here:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1013897#answer-614388

and here:

https://forums.adobe.com/message/6656544#6656544

So I've had to use Chrome. Now, more and more programs won't open and are causing Windows to crash "Windows Explorer has stopped working." I ran a disk check and no errors were found. On the reboot I had and Event10 WMI error, and was able to find a fix through Microsoft.

Here are a list of the most recent errors:

Answer:Multiple Crashes, Side by Side Configuration Errors, * Has stopped Working Errors

Some messages refer to ntdll.dll, which is a system module. Try this command and see if it fixes anything. Open command prompt by right clicking and choosing Run as Admin, then type this in;

sfc /scannow

My laptop has suddenly started running CHKDSK during startup. After it completes and finishes booting I go to Properties > Tools > Error Checking of my C drive and click ?Check?. It says errors were found on this drive and to repair drive now to prevent data loss. I click to run it, the system reboots, I see the prompt to cancel CHKDSK by pressing any key, let it run, the screen remains blank with just the little spinning dots. It finishes (in less than a minute, which is faster than it usually takes) and loads to desktop. I check the C drive properties again and it still says there are errors and to repair.
Running CHKDSK from CMD prompt I get ?Windows has scanned the file system and found no problems. No further action is required.? Running a 3rd-party disk checker (Disk Doctor, Tune-Up Utilities) also reports no errors. Yet the properties dialog continues to warn that there are errors.
I can?t be certain when this started. Just noticed this yesterday when I booted up (I don?t usually stick around and watch the computer boot). Windows has all the latest updates/patches. This is an HP ENVY laptop that came with Windows 10 pre-installed.
Anyone have any ideas?

Answer:Inconsistent error warnings: Errors detected, yet no errors detected

I believe I solved it.

I booted into the recovery menu and then advanced options. I chose Command Prompt then ran the command CHKDSK C: /F

At Stage 3 it found errors and repaired them:
Errors in MFT bitmap attribute
Errors in volume bitmap

Afterwards, booting up and checking the drive status it now reports no errors finally. I guess the CHKDSK procedure didn't detect these errors when running during bootup. The other disk scanners I tried didn't pick them up either. This seems to have fixed it.

Recently I have been having trouble on various web sites. If I click a link to go to another page within the site I get a blank page with the "IE cannot display the page" error. Now I am also getting page freezes with a pop-up bar on the bottom of the page that says "page not responding due to long running script". This is a used laptop I bought about 3 months ago and it is incredibly slow... I have Comcast Xfinity and download speeds show low 50's when I test it but pages load sooooo slow???
Can anyone help with this?
Thanks

Complete an Internet Explorer Reset. You may have an add-on that is preventing IE to run as normal.

I was wondering if any of you had any idea what is going on with my computer. In bios it has a whole list of keyboard errors that happen all the time. When I am typing an "s" will type "sasasasasasasasasasa" forever, a "w" will be "wqwqwqwqwqwqwqwq" and an "x" will type "xzxzxzxzxzxzxzxz" infinitely. Even If i don't type anything it will repeat "sasasasasasasasasasasasa". I've tried 3 keyboards with the same problem happening, and my mouse randomly quits working and I have to unplug and replug it for it to work. I have formatted my computer twice and still get the same problem, so it's not a virus. It does it even in setup. Also, even more annoying is the windows On-Screen keyboard I have to use to type, as it has the SAME problem and even opens random windows and programs with certain letters. At first I thought it was my USB controller going out, but if it was, then how come the windows On-Screen Keyboard still does this?

Any help would be amazing, this is so damn annoying. Have any of you heard of this? Should I just get a new motherboard since it might be a bad controller of some sort?

Answer:Keyboard errors, mouse disconnects, on-screen keyboard errors

Have you updated your BIOS and drivers?

Hello everyone.
I recently installed Windows 7 on my other computer, and I thought everything was going well. Well then I restarted after the installation only to find that it hangs at "Verifying DMI Pool Data". Then, when I restart again and select boot menu, it asks for a password, which I don't have because I didn't set one yet. Could anyone help me on this issue?
Appreciated,

Hello and Welcome to Bleeping Computer!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.

I'm getting a lot of "Check Disk for Errors" and "this hard drive needs to be formatted before it can be used" error messages when plugging my external usb hard drives into my home pc which uses windows 7. I don't get any of these messages when I plug the same hard drives in at any of a number of pcs at work which use windows xp. Any ideas on why this is happening only with windows 7? I'm also getting a lot of disconnects and reconnects on these devices but again only on windows 7.

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give...

why do i get page errors when trying to open web pages. My internet connection is fine because i can open other pages.
At first i thought it was a problem with the server but i used the other PC at home and i could open the web page.

all i get is ERROR ON PAGE no explanation of what it is or how to fix it.
The only cdlue i did get once (and it could be completely unrelated) is that my ActiveX settings were not correct?!?!?
I found ActiveX in tools/internet options/security/internet and changed them to a low setting to match the other PC but i still cannot open those web pages.

can somebody help me because i haven't got a clue???????

thankyou
Drew

p.s i'm using Internet explorer and was going to change to netscape. would that make a difference or is it wishful thinking and a waste of my time?

So when I try install steam it tells me that I am not online and needs to confirm my connection and retry I tried disabling my firewall and anti virus but still no solution. On my laptop I had no problem with any of these so I figure its a problem with this computer. Question: Dll errors ??

Greetings !

This is a programme for learning , which has got a lot of reading and educational tutorials .
The programme is installed successfully, and it even runs ok. But The interactive feature which is media related is not functioning properly.
For eg. there is a feature called recite: this basically opens the sentence and recites it once selected.
Following is the error I get when I press recite (it plays fine for a few seconds and the error appears, Its a yellow exclamation mark which says that the " WINMM.dll is showing an error and to rectify pls restart."
The system I installed has the following config:
Winme
Amd k6-2 450
asus p5ab
256 sd ram
40 gb
Awe 64 sound
Voodoo 3000 agp

Basically this programme is quite old and written a couple of years back. I went into the readme and it says to run the recite feature I have to open the redist folder on the cd and install the win media player or update winmedia, I did that but nothing.

Although the similar thing I did on my second pc it worked(updating winmedia player)

The second pc config:
Win xp pro
Amd 1800 xp
80 gb hdd
soundblaster de 5.1
Gforce 4 mx 440
512 ddr
I assumed that the programme would run perfectly on the old config but it was the other way round.

Can anybody help.
