Preferred Solution: transfert HDD from old computer to new computer

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently got an hard drive from a broken laptop bigger than mine.

I would like to put it in my computer, but I don't know what would be the way to transfer the installation partition (or even better also the windows already installed partition).

I will be able to reinstall linux in few minutes, but for windows... it's another subject.
Do you have any idea of the procedure ?

The best would be to do a mirror copy, or something like that for me, to just have to extend the size of some partition.

Thank you.

Answer:Satellite Pro L300 - How to transfert Windows on new HDD?

I would recommend you creating an image.
You could create either an image containing only the content of one partition or the content of the whole HDD.

There are different image tools on the market. Mostly you have to pay for such software.
But you could also use an internal Microsoft Windows 7 utility. Its part of Win 7 system.

If you use Win 7, i would recommend this solution.

Here an nice Microsoft page about this tool and how to do that:

Hello,I really need some help! My computer had a virus that made the fake Windows XP antivirus popup appear where they want you to download the bogus antispyware program, and the desktop background changed to blue with a message that read " WARNING! Spyware detected on your computer. Please install an antispyware...." Blah, Blah Blah! And it would act like it was restarting and go to a blue screen, but if I pressed F8 it would go back. So I followed some steps I had read on here from other people, and that part of it is gone. I am now able to change my desktop background. Now the problem is that every time I try to go on to the internet, Google or whatever other search engine I use will come up, but then when you try to go to another site, it just says " Loading, internet browser redirecting." And I get redirected to another site, usally ADT (weird) or another antispyware site which I believe is just part of the virus. Also, the computer will freeze up completely to where I can't do ANYTHING. Even CTRL+ALT+Delete doesn't work. So we end up just unplugging it (I know that is probably REALLY bad!) I downloaded spybot S&D from my other computer and put it on the bad one, and it did find a couple things and I deleted them, but it didn't help. So I got hijackthis from my other computer also and dowloaded it to the messed up one and obtained my log. I had to do this in safe mode and allow networking to even get my computer to keep running, so... Read more

Hello there,

I have an eight year old Gateway computer. It is just a regular, single home desktop. It has Windows XP Home Edition, 1.25 GB of RAM (originally had 256MB of RAM and I added two sticks of 512MB of RAM). I updated my computer to Service Pack 2 using Microsoft's Windows Update. My internet speed is about 6 - 8 MB's per second (cable).

Here is my problem: When I do not use my computer, it automatically starts to load like crazy. All I hear is the churning inside my PC's tower, but nothing comes up on the screen. After 30 seconds to 1 minute, the churning goes away. Also, when it churns, I see the hour glass next to the arrow on the screen. This happens once in a while, but it is suspicious. My computer hasn't been running like it used to, so I'm concerned if there are any viruses/trojans/malware/spyware deep inside my computer that are hiding from my numerous virus/spyware scans.

Also, when this problem started, I noticed that my Internet Explorer 7 has been scrolling up and down choppy on a lot of websites. Right now, if I scroll up and down this message body where I am typing this message, it will be sluggish. But, if I scroll Tech Support's website, it is not sluggish. Even when I highlight this text, it is sluggish to highlight. Websites like -- YouTube -- forget it. Very slow and I can't even play YouTube's HD videos as they are very choppy.

I would like to know from the experts if there is anything suspicious on my computer that shou... Read more

Hi all,
I'm new to the forums but figured I'd reach out to get some help! I have an HP Envy h8-1445 PC at work here and I've always had problems with it upon startup. It freezes everyday in the morning, which requires a manual power down and reboot and then it's usually fine (can't explain why it does this). I've had the computer for 2 years now.
I upgraded to Windows 10 on Thursday and so far I'm loving it (much better than Windows 8.1). I had a weird issue today though as I had to do a manual power down and reboot (as always) but this time the computer wouldn't start up. It kept freezing at the HP loading screen and when it attempted to start the automatic repair tool it gave me a Windows "sad face" error with the code "wdf_violation".
I ran sfc /scannow in an admin command prompt console which came back with "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them." I have a log that I'll try and figure out how to attach - it's 5MB.
Does this sound familiar to anyone or does anyone have an idea of what could be causing the issue of freezing daily and/or how to fix this corrupt file? I can post all the specs if needed.
Thanks in advance!!

the things that need to be edited are in the Administrative Templates section of the group policy object in the mmc.

Right now I am using Set-ItemProperty to edit the registry values for these policies, but I wanted to

Dell vostro 220

My computer was lagging and wasn't connecting to the internet properly, and then it froze so I shut it down. When I started it back up, the BIOS loaded but then went to a blank black screen with a mouse. I can move the mouse around. It won't load any further. I've tried all the safe modes and it does the same thing. And I tried cleaning all the dust off the computer. I've tried waiting at that screen for longer than 3 hours. It just stays there.

It's possible that it's a virus but I don't know. How can I solve this problem? Because I can't get into the computer to do a system restore. Please help, thank you!

Hello to everyone on,

First off, I would like to apologize in advance if I've posted in the wrong forum..I would also like to mention that my computer skills/knowledge are average at best..So, I apologize for making things more complicated for everyone.

I will try to describe my situation as brief and accurate as possible..I recently had my computer infected by a terrible Trojan Virus (Trojan.Agent/Gen-Cryptic)..I had help from someone, to remove the Trojan from my computer..They guided me through certain steps like MBR Check, DDS, Rootkit Unhooker, ComboFix, OTL, etc..After guiding me through all the necessary steps, my computer was declared clean..Unfortunately after the clean, my computer wasn't performing properly..It was extremely slow/sluggish, when opening apps and connecting to the internet..I also had Windows Firewall shutting OFF, from time to time..I was then told at this point, to do a fresh install of Windows XP..Which brings me to my current problem..I've performed a fresh install twice, and for the life of me I cannot figure out why my computer feels like it's still infected..After the first fresh install of Windows XP I ran a scan with Malewarebytes Anti-Malware and it found:

2. Was your computer physically connected to the net during reinstallation?
3. Did you put any backed up files back on freshly installed Windows?

My computer, early in boot-up, freezes up randomly, mostly when firefox is used for more than 5 minutes (sometimes even before firefox shows up), and in some boots, Vista won't even open anything, then later freezes,Theres pretty much a 1/50 of a working boot up, but I've been trying since about 3:00 AM EST (posted this at 1:28 PM EST) today after it eventually froze up from printing from Acrobat Reader, with no luck (and even one boot, didn't even show the Compaq splash screen), previously, on working boots, I've done virus scans with Malware Bytes' Pro, with no results, never (this computer only got a virus once).I'm forced to boot in safe mode for the computer to work, im afraid its some sort of virus thats unknown by Malware Bytes', so im posting a HiJack This log (later, when i try to run normal mode again) with my DxDiag (please note, my brother installed a thing on this computer, since i think its spyware, i deleted all the traces of it i spotted). I'm using a unmodified Presario CQ50 209WM on the lastest version of Vista, which had already had one reinstall after getting hacked while a relative was using it.Please hurry i just rented a 3 Day Elite weapon in Battlefield Play4Free yesterday which set me back over 100 games worth of getting credits for.

Answer:Computer freezes up randomly, mostly when using firefox, some boots, computer refuses to open up programs

First of all, MalwareBytes is not an anti virus app. Do you have an av installed? If so, have you run a full scan with that? If not, and since you think it's malware related, you should probably post in the Am I Infected forum.

I've let my family use this computer for awhile, they started to complain it was "acting weird." When I jumped on to see, I noticed it was shutting down by itself and extremely slow. I got the computer to start up and tried to do a couple system restores. I then noticed then that the date/time on the computer was off. Saying some of the restore points were back in 2006, when I didn't even have this computer. After a couple failed attempts, I got the computer to restore. Its not randomly shutting off anymore but is still slower than it should be. I reseted the date and time, but I'm still worried something could be wrong. I'm baffled here. I had my network between my new vista machine (\\MAINCOMPUTER) and my xp laptop (\\JIMSLAPTOP) set up perfectly (transfered old files from xp computer to vista without problems) until yesterday when I was trying to add music files to windows media palyer on my xp machine that are stored on my vista machine. It is wireless network with the vista machine connected via ethernet and xp machine wirelessly.

It was working fine at first- searching for and adding all of the files that it should have. I left the room for a bit while the 13,000+ songs were being added and when I came back it was frozen. I canceled out of it and then tried to access the files that were added but it could not find them. I then tried to access the folder through the network and My Network Places crashed. I restarted, tried again... same... crashed.

I can see the xp laptop no problem on my vista network map, can access any of the xp files, and can ping using IP and name both ways- from vista to xp and from xp to vista. XP just won't find \\maincomputer now in My Network Places- error message says: "Workgroup is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Network name is no longer available."

Norton's is running on both machines, but I have both computers on the respective "trust" lists

Again, I had this working fine and this only started happening after the windows media player incident...

Hi Anamarija and welcome to TSF !

Does the problem also happen in safe mode ?

Unplug all your USB devices. Use a PS/2 mouse and keyboard for the time of the troubleshooting.

Go to start => run and type chkdsk c: /R. You'll be prompted to restart the computer. Tell us if it finds any errors on the hard drive. If you couldn't see the scan's results you'll find them in the event viewer under application in the latest winlogon entry (click on the title of the source column to sort them alphabetically).

Did the BSOD or the errors in the eventviewer mention any .exe, .dll or .sys file ?

We'll need the .dmp files that you'll find in c:\windows\minidump, problem is you may not be able to browse your drive to zip and attach them with your computer. Copy them to some floppy or usb drive using the command prompt : start => run => cmd. Type copy c:\windows\minidump\*.dmp x: x being the volume letter that corresponds to your usb or floppy drive. Then with another computer zip them and attach the .zip file to your next post using the manage attachments button.

Double click the errors in the event viewer, click on the third button on the right (this copies the information in the memory) and right-click => paste the complete error message here.

Go to start => run and type devmgmt.msc. See if there are any devices with a red cross, yellow exclamation point or whatever in front of their name. If you find anything related to your webcam then right-click =>... Read more

Hey TSF,

I was performing a system restore earlier when, while the process was occurring, I accidentally knocked the power out to my computer. Now when I turn on my computer it goes to the boot screen where I can choose a normal start up or a safe mode start up. Neither work as when I start it up, it just seems to get stuck at the green loading bar screen.

I also have the option to boot from my recovery disc. But after the "Loading Windows files" screen it goes to a black screen and nothing happens. I'm freaking out because I do a lot of work at my computer and can't get it to work (on my brother's computer at the moment). I also don't want to lose any important files on the computer. What can I do?

I have Vista Home Premium on SP2

Answer:Accidentally shut down computer during System Restore.. computer doesn't start up

Do you get any options with the Recovery Disc? If you do look for an option called Startup Repair and try that. It should replace the mbr and other essential boot files for you.

Hey all,

I was unable to get GMER to run the full scan without an error popping up halfway saying that the .exe has stopped working. I tried it twice and lost patience so I will try again later and try to make it work. For now I'm just putting this post up there to at least get something by the end of today hopefully, so I just want to point out first that my GMER log is not included. Sorry about it! If the GMER log is absolutely necessary along with Hijack and DDS logs for you guys to diagnose what is wrong with my computer, do let me know. Also, if you guys could, any advice on how to get GMER working would be appreciated. I was unclear through the instructions if I should uncheck the IAT/EAT box and check the C: drive box (the GMER tool did not warn me about rootkit activity, but I went ahead and unchecked IAT/EAT and checked C: drive anyway, assuming that the drive that is most important to scan would be C: drive).

I am currently experiencing a problem that started just a few days ago where the svchost.exe process keeps taking up memory on my computer even when there isn't anything active and continues to grow to taking up to 99% of memory before it crashes/freezes the computer and it has to be restarted then several times a day to clear the memory back down but within a few hours or sometimes less the memory will get exhausted.
I was able to download the FRST tool and I have the following results, so hopefully this will help someone to be able to help me with the following problem:
Thanks for your help, time and efforts it is appreciated and here are the following 2 logs from FRST:

Initially I had noticed that something was up as it started locking up randomly; ran a scan using Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition and it found the machine to be infected with WIN32.TROJANDOWNLOADER.AGENT. So it cleaned it up and... the machine started acting even crazier. A bunch of application profiles (like for Firefox) became corrupt, dragging files from one folder to another did not work (but copy/pasting them did; what the heck), my graphics drivers went haywire, the system refused to download any files (per some security policy) and then Windows found that the registry was amazingly corrupt. Most of these issues have been addressed in one form or another (turns out a fair number of system DLLs were not properly registered); is this just an instance of the cure being worse than the disease? Or did I not get everything cleaned up?One thing that caught my attention is that file indexing was apparently turned on; I know I disabled that for performance reasons when I first set this machine up.I have since run both Bitdefender Online Scanner and TrendMicro Sysclean and they both came up clean. If you're looking in the attached log there is one file that comes up as gibberish (comes up as 3D??????); that is just a Japanese program where the name got mangled in the scanning program.DDS (Ver_09-03-16.01) - NTFSx86 Run by Duppy at 14:20:30.25 on Thu 04/23/2009Internet Explorer: 7.0.5730.13 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_13============== Running Processes ============================= Pse... Went though steps to clean my computer of a Trojan today. ESET scan came back clear. Then I took the advice and began downloading programs to protect myself when I downloaded COMODO free firewall, it did a scan for Malware and found 5 files that were a threat.

One containing the the words 'combofix' and another 'win32' which initially in my alert from windows security center saying 'Win32.Backdoor.DNM'. I chose to remove these files and my computer and restart for the firewall to install and changes to be made. When my computer rebooted I had a message from the firewall saying 'svchost.exe' is trying to connect to the internet, which was also one of the virus's that were ment to be removed when I ran Combofix.

My other thread was closed as I thought my troubles were over. Help would again be much appreciated.

Answer:Cleaned my computer with staff help today. Scan still found virus on my computer.

Check your PM inbox. Personally, I don't care for Comodo, and the only firewall I use is my router's hardware firewall and Windows XP's. Too many people don't know how to respond to the notifications from firewalls. I don't care for Comodo's detections, and it's overly intrusive.

If you installed this before you uninstalled ComboFix, that would explain why you were getting some hits from Comodo. It incorrectly sees parts of ComboFix as a threat. Also, there might be some quarantined files left behind if you installed this before uninstalling ComboFix.

Regarding svchost.exe, as long as it's in system32, that's fine

I see no active infection.

So I went to the Computer Viruses And Spyware section, hoping to fix this problem.  It still hasn't been fixed, so I hope someone here can help me.  Here is the updated copy & pasted summary of my problems from the Viruses And Spyware forumAlmost a week ago I was playing a full-screen online game (MapleStory to be exact;  and suddenly the game, along with the computer, just completely froze.  I couln't alt-tab out of the game, ctrl-alt-delete did not work either, so I had to reset my computer.  I tried getting in-game again, and about 10-20 seconds after getting in-game, it freezes again.  Almost immediately after the problem began with the game, my PC began to become unstable.  While I'm browsing the internet or even through my folders, one of the fans in my laptop would start to hum, and about 5 seconds later the computer would freeze, 3-5 seconds later the monitor would black out and 1 second after that, the screen would return to normal and everything would be unfrozen.  The humming noise that comes before is the tell-tale sign that this will happen.  Also it is not a fan I usually hear running; it sounds "smooth" when it runs, and I only hear that fan run when I'm playing full-screen games or games that take up alot of memory, like TankBall (which I will cover later), or even just programs in general that take up alot of memory. Also, sometimes the monitor will keep blac... I posted this in other tech support forums, nobody seems to be able to help me there. Decided to try out this forum.
All of the info is here:
To sum it up, my laptop randomly shut off one day (as if the battery was removed) and the sound stopped working when I started it back up. Someone said it overheated. The fan was faulty (worked... kinda), so I thought that might have been true, got it replaced. Computer shut off again in the same way about a week and a half or so later, but was only warm to the touch -- it's been much warmer before without shutting off.
Anyways since it shut off the first time, the sound stopped working, and the drivers for it have had yellow flags and the following message: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
Any attempt to delete and re-install the drivers has been unsuccessful so far.
Any help in solving this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Answer:Computer Randomly Shut Off, Now Computer Can't Bleep (Sound Doesn't Work)

Faulty fan...shutoffs from personal opinion is that the system could have resulted in motherboard damage.
What did the person who replaced the fan...have to say about all this, subsequent to fan replacement?

For the past week my computer has been acting odd. Here is what happens

1. Sometimes when i turn on the CPU, the light will either turn blue, flash blue, or wont be on at all. When this happens ( no matter what the light does ), I can hear the fans/drives, and my monitor goes on, but there is nothing on the screen. I usually fix this by turning off my power strip, and then turning it back on or hold the power button on my CPU.

2. When i reboot, my computer doesn't fully shut down. Windows Logs off, and I am left with a blank monitor, with my CPU still on ( if I just turnoff the power button and then back on it stays the same, CPU on, nothing on screen.

3. When my computer goes into sleep mode, pressing keys/moving or clicking the mouse doesn't "wake it up".

I am using Windows XP Media Center SP2

Can someone help me?

Answer:Computer Help Needed My Computer Won't Fully Reboot/ Leave Sleep Mode

Lets see, off the top of my head...
Does the computer ever lock up when copying large files?
When trying to turn on the computer, does it some times turn off almost as soon as you attempt to turn it on?
Do you ever hear any odd ticking sounds when booting up?

Clearly I have a network card (I'm using the internet right now to post on this forum), and seeing as I can play all my games just fine I clearly have my graphics card (and I can access my software to modify settings on my graphics card).

Yet... Windows tells me when I try to update my graphics drivers that I don't have a card, and that it can't continue!

Also when trying to set up a "Home or Small office network" blah blah... it tells me I don't have a network card!

I thought I'd try to do a "Windows Repair" installation from my Windows XP Home disc... so I booted up the disc, went through the process, and what does it tell me? That apperantly, I don't have a Hard Disk Drive.

When I click on "My Computer" it does the little flashlight searching thing for 2-3 minutes... it never used to do that. It just spontaniously started doing this a few months ago. Seeing as everything's worked fine, I can play my games, use the internet, etc. I've just left it. But I'm getting nervous that I've gone so long not being able to update my graphics drivers.

Does anyone know what the problem could possibly be?

Answer:Really crazy computer problem - computer thinks I have no Network or Graphics Cards

With a limited budget (therefore cannot go the route of Windows Server + AD + GPOs + Barracuda Web Filters etc etc), I am looking for a security & monitoring software for my father's All-In-One computer that is used for his mall shop. Right now I have ESET SmartSecurity 6 with the Anti-Theft and all setup, but it's really only good for if the computer itself gets stolen.

I'm looking for software that would help lock things down, prevent installations and other system functions without an administrator password, (something that makes even a plain User Account even tighter and more restricted), maybe offer keylogging and screenshot & webcam AVR or something, etcetera.

Any suggestions?

To name some incidents:
* Someone has created their own user account on the computer (probably because my dad never decided to have a non-Administrator account until now) and using it for their own purpose; solution is easy -- delete it, create a new one, lock everyone out of Administrator and make this new account a plain user account
* Someone has installed adware and/or infected the computer
* Someone has stolen $32 recently (and only one of the employees would be able to do that), but there is video camera or webcam security in place to see who did it and when
* Someone (in the past, donno if still happening) would change the system clock to be 1 or 2 hours earlier on their clock so they get paid extra for their shift

Had the day from hell with my computer, antivirus stopped working and my computer got infected. On safe mode with networking, I ran malwarebyte a couple times, cleaned most all of it out. When rebooting to windows, computer became super slow, like 5 minutes to open a window, etc. I had to force reboot a few times. But then I started getting a screen that demanded a reboot disk. Only one I have is. a windows vista disc. I had windows 7. It won't let me even get that blue startup screen where I can push f keys.
Can anyone give me some advice, or do I need to just get a new hard drive.

The problem isn't the hard drive, it's that you are still infected.

Hi there, earlier today i was working on some video footage. I had went downstairs for an hour i came up and i had all these anti virus pop ups flashing all over my screen. i dont know how they got on there as i scan my computer every 2 days. The only possible reason i can think of is visiting The Pirate I tried opening task manager but the software keeps closing it. No matter what i tried the software would tell my system not to open it. I tried restarting the computer but when it gets onto the windows loading screen it flashes a blue screen then resets and this continually happens. I tried safe mode and last safe config, it still happens.

Some of the malware i saw:

Anti Malware doctor
Security suite
and some more.

I cannot use my DVD drive as it doesnt work so my only option is to do some via USB stick.. Is there any other way? please help.

How can i fix this without having to use a DVD drive and formatting / recovery console?

Need this help urgently.

I have a HP Pavillion dv9417ca Notebook PC with AMD Turion 64X2 Mobile Technology Tl-56, 2.0G Ram, NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 with Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP2.

The computer when running slowly makes a ton of noise starting up and running and tends to use more processing. The computer sometimes makes weird noises that aren't normal windows sounds and come from error's. Like intense beeping noises ocassionally. Firefox especially is insanely slow and the longer I run it the more processing power it uses up along with the plugins.exe. Sometimes it will uses so much that it completely freezes my computer. Lately I've also been having trouble starting the computer where it won't even load windows.

I've ran Ccleaner daily and Malwarebytes weekly and find nothing and the problem has been getting progressively worse. I have Avast which updates daily.

Logs attached.

There are no malware symptoms that I can see, but I did find it very strange that MBAM scans were set to skip everything other than memory. So if you did a quick scan or full scan, it would scan like 400 files and say it was done. I figured out how to turn the rest of the scan back on in the settings and a full scan or quick scan didn't find anything.

Hi, I have a problem with windows XP. Everytime I turn off my computer by clicking on "turn off computer," I receive an error message popup that states "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to be closed." After that pop-up message, the computer freezes for about a minute and goes back to its normal format (desktop) and the computer DOES NOT TURN OFF.

How do I turn off my computer without unplugging the computer? I try "ctrl+alt+del" to go to the windows task manager to "shut down" the computer but..the computer restarts again and doesnt turn off. Do I have a virus or a windows explorer problem? and how do i fix it? thank you

Hi guys,

Thank you for reading this and hope we get somewhere.

I was initially infected with this trojan approximately one week ago. Symptoms are url redirect to 'licosearch' amongst others.

I formatted, re-installed windows 7 and up it popped again.

I did a complete format (even tried a low-level, or as close as possible to) and re-installed only to have it pop up again.

I was playing Burnout when the computer crashed and the blue screen error came up. Since then when I turn the computer on all the fans turn on, HDD activity light flashes but nothing appears on the monitor.I can't boot in to safe-mode or enter the bios settings. I've tried using the 8800gt and the onboard gfx (950 gma) but nothing appears. I read that taking the ram out and then turning it on the mobo should beep..but it didn't however it did beep when I didn't plug the cable in to the 8800gt.

I have a Asrock 1333-D667 mobo
Windows 7 RC
2gb Ram
8800gt 512mb
E2180 @2.00GHz

Answer:Computer had a bsod whilst playing a computer won't boot.

No beep without ram installed does not look good. Here is some basic troubleshooting you can do.

1 Open the case and pull the pw connectors from ALL drives; both hd and optical.
2 Remove all add-in cards except the video card
3 Disconnect any usb type device; ie hub, printer, scanner, etc.
4 Clear cmos with the clear jumper for a min of 20~30seconds. Replace jumper to keep position.
5 Now attempt a pw ON of the system and see if it will post.

If it does post in the above config, then shutdown and add devices one at a time until you find the problem. If it does not post, then start replacing parts with known good units.

FWIW I would start with the pw supply as the first part replaced.

Hi I am working on a few ways to stream your own Private music across the LAN or Internet via VPN.
Using Winamp and a Shoutcast server... once configured then install as services so they are not visible but do use CPU. As services they are on automatic start so no interaction needed. If you need to change the playlist just stop the service and start via the normal icon (shortcut).

I have also had success using a dial up connection with a stream of 24Kbs mono.
Also works with usb wireless connections.

Have 5 separate music streams running at the same time eg channel for Wife, yourself, Kids and 2 others. you can block ip addresses so that your kids pc's cant listen to your music.
Go to a party and you supply the music.

Move your AMP and speakers outside add notebook no Wires no moving desktop computer.

It maybe possible to have more that 5 channels running at the same time off 1 pc but it will be a lot more complicated.

You can also have 2 or more pc's in sync with each other over internal network...internet its about 5 seconds out, still working on that one.

If there is any interest I may post a link to my forum if moderators approve.
I am still working out the bugs and the config options etc.
If you would like to help with the setup let me know...

I was getting help over on this thread ( ) and the person helping me suggested I make a thread here since he ran out of ideas to help me. A lot of useful stuff is in that thread.
Anyways, he thinks it maybe a overheating problem since the inside of my computer was really dusty though I cleaned it out and it st has the same problem though I wasn't able to be super thorough as I didn't accidentally break anything.
I think the problem has to do with my power... My comp is like... It's Getting over powered since power cycling let's my computer have about an extra minute before the problem happens again and it sounds like my computer is working really hard. Though I'm not a computer guy so it's just a guess. Not sure if it's possible.
Though could be something else too. I've been at this for days now and I really want my computer working again.

Hi, First post but I hope to be able to use this Forum to help get familiar with Windows 7. Im used to Windows XP but my Old HP Compaq Desktop Computer finally died. My Buddy gave me one of his Work Office computers that was on a Network system with 4 other computers.

Im going to be using it for my home with internet access. I'd like to change the administrator name and password along with deleting other user accounts but I seem to have problems doing so. He gave me his original User name and password to be able to access the computer and clean things out.

Will I have a problem using this computer at home is it was setup for a network system?
I'd like to get it back to basics so I can utilize as much of the Hard drive as possible, but I do not have the windows 7 disk.
Im not much of a computer Wiz but I can do pretty well with guidance and or the proper links, so please have patience with me.
Im also trying to figure out Windows paint on this computer so I can post pics.

Answer:Work Desktop computer on network to single home computer?

It would be best to re install windows on that pc.

What operating system is on it now ?

Does it have a COA sticker on it ?

Can you read the activation key on it ?

My laptop is a Gateway 450 ROG and it has had this problem for the last week. It will run for roughly 40 minutes, and then (even when small programs are running) it will freeze up. My mouse wont move, no command will respond and i am forced to hold the power button and shut it off.
2nd Problem, occasionally when i turn on the computer it wont boot up. The screen will turn on and stop with a dash blinking in the top left corner, not proceeding to any boot up of any kind, and just recently while i shut it down from this sort of freezing up, little pictures of pixel hearts and dots started appearing until i shut it off. This problem has gone on since i bought this computer from my brother but the pictures havent until this last week .

Answer:Computer freezes (occurs after booting up computer & leaving it for 1-5 minutes)

Sound to me like your video card is overheating.  You mentioned the possibility of dust being a problem.  Does that mean you have significant dust buildup?  If you use compressed air in a dusty environment without using a vacuum at the same time to suck up the dust you just move it around a bit, which can cause more problems.-Mal

I have been having a long running problem with my computer. It started out as a lack of internet access which turned out tI o be a bad virus. I fixed that problem by doing a complete reformat of my system. I thought that that would fix the problem and it did for a bit.

After a week or so I started having BSOD. I went to a computer shop and we went to work on the issue. The BSOD's were showing that there was an error with my sata connection. I replaced the cables. The problem kept happening, so I replaced the motherboard and hard drive with a complete reformat again. Then I continued to have the same issues which included crashes, disappearing icons, weird error messages (x86 errors) and once in a while a BSOD. The BSOD's all say there's still an error with the sata connection.

I then decided to replace the power supply and upgraded to an evga 1300 watt. I replaced my case as well to a bigger one. I even replaced the ram sticks That seemed to fix the problems for a while and the BSOD's became very rare, but after a lot of use the weird error messages became very common. I really can't use the computer any more. I'm typing this on my laptop.

The computer shop I go to say's this is probably a hardware issue. They can't seem to figure it out. I've had it in multiple times. This is a nightmare for a computer owner. I have replaced virtually all the parts and my computer is still utterly unusable. The only program I installed since the last reformat wa... Read more

2) post every error you get and attempt to find solution to each one. (Getting tired)

I hope this is the right forum, I appologise if it's not and would welcome any suggestions about where else I might look for help.

I'll start by quoting my OP from another forum:

So I just picked up a new SATA hard drive and installed it in my computer. To do so I shut down my machine, unplugged everything, plugged the 2nd HDD into the power supply and motherboard leaving the original HDD as is, replugged everything, and switched on my machine. Then at startup it became unresponsive. The screen just has the big Dell logo, "Dell DXP051 Series", and down the bottom a status bar paused at 'BIOS Revision A07'. I can't enter BIOS settings or anything like that.

So after nothing happened for a few minutes I switched the computer off, opened it up, and unplugged the new HDD from the motherboard, power up again, and the machine just goes straight to the same page. Repeat the process plugging the new HDD in place of the old one and the exact same thing happens.

FWIW, I'm 90% sure the startup process usually has a screen or two before the one I'm stuck at, but when I switch on my machine it just goes straight to it, so there's no option to enter BIOS settings or anything like that. Also, on the front panel of my computer there are two backlit lights on '1' and '4'. I have no idea what they are, I'd never noticed them before. '2' and '3' light up and alternate when I first power on, but ... Read more

My computer has been acting very strange lately, and it's never done this before since I received it a couple of years ago. I had a party for my birthday (which is today) last night, and my friend wanted to check her messages on Facebook on my computer. I allowed her to do that, and at first she had trouble logging on to Facebook because my Firefox browser was set to ask me every time a site wishes to set a cookie on my computer. I clicked "Allow for session" on all of the cookies, and then I had to set NoScript (a Firefox add-on that disables scripts on websites) to Temporarily Allow She checked her messages and then exited out, but my computer was never the same after that. It has become extremely slow and unresponsive, and has frozen at least twice. Right before the second time it froze, I was trying to scan my computer with Ad-Aware, and I saw that while it was scanning, it had found 1 infection. Also, any sound that is played (for example, the sound that is played when you receive an error message) crackles and echoes several times before stopping. Any music that I play will skip, no matter what player I play it on. My cursor also has problems in that when I move it, it blinks and sometimes dissapears then reappears where I moved it. I decided to get help here, since I couldn't get anything that used too much memory to work. Is there anything I can do to find whatever infected my computer and fix it? I already ran CCleaner and checked my... Read more

I would very highly appreciate learning from you.
I have installed ( hopefully completely deleted ) Tor. I was looking to anonymously surf the web in order to watch US TV online in Brazil.
I also believe my machine is full of viruses adware malware I go to many online movie sites.
I already have utilized CCleaner AVG and adwcleaner6000 but the problems persist.
I ran the FRST64, have the logs and downloaded HijackThis.
I would really love to clean up my machine and be able to surf anonymously.....and prevent intrusions.
Really looking forward to interaction discussions, making friends and learning.

First off, my computer recently had its motherboard/video card replaced. It is a dell xps l501x. The issues with the colored lines began before the mother board was replaced. Thus, I do not believe a faulty motherboard is the problem.

These lines are thin and occur on the top centimeter of the screen. They are made up of many colors and sort of look like squiggles going horizontally across the page.

Also my computer will not sleep properly. When the computer is put to sleep the screen will go black, but the fan will continue to run and led backlit keyboard will remain on. They begin immediately after the dell logo comes on. I also get 5 bluegreen dots appear in the top left hand corner of the screen.

The lines do not always appear, its is sort of hit or miss with my computer.

I have performed a system restore and and wiped the hard drive. This did not remedy either of the situations.

I am not sure how to proceed as it cannot be the motherboard or hard drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Answer:Computer gets colored lines on top of screen computer will not boot windows 7

Your screen connector cable might be loose on the end that is connected to the screen. Try moving the laptop while it is running or move the screen to see if it worsens or gets better to confirm.

Also update all System Drivers mainly graphics drivers by going to Support>Drivers look for the model number Version of Windows including 64bit or 32 bit download the drivers and install.
If Windows does not boot try booting in "Safe Mode" by tapping the F8 button as soon as you press the power button. Select "Safe Mode" in the options screen.

Now, its slower then my older computer, which I thought was impossible. I mean...This is pathetic. I unistalled AVG cause there was a process running that is supposed to be a Trojan, and a program said AVG was running it. So, I deleted it, was prompted to restart, so I did. It took literally 10 minutes to shut down and restart. At worst, my old computer took 5 minutes. (P4 2.8, 1.5 gigs ram, ATI Radeon 9800). So, how do I fix this? I have a theory its Microsoft forcing people to upgrade by putting out crappy updates. I mean, for my card, the newest driver is dated the beginning of last year...They come out with a new one but its Vista only. Woo...idiots. So basically it started about 3 days ago, aprox. 4 days after this computer was built. I was playing Battlefield 1942, it froze. I tried 5 times, it froze in different spots at different times. I reinstalled. Same thing. Oblivion goes for about 30 minutes then crashes to the desktop. I then hit the window to maximize again, and it freezes. This has happened everytime as well. I also did older games, same thing, but done differently. Battlefield was the only one that froze the entire computer to where i had to manually shut it off. Then today I randomly check my processes, and theres 2 runn... Read more

Answer:I Need Help...slow Computer, Freezing Games, On A Fast Computer...(possible Trojan)

The first thing which strikes me is that you have 2 anti-virus applications on your computer ( Zone Alarm security suite and AVG Free) Having two anti virus applications running on your PC can give conflicts so I suggest you uninstall one.For the antispyware applications do you have all real time protection enabled?..I first would try Microsoft online test and see what comes up. The freezing can also indicate faulty memory, there for run a Memtest to rule that out.

I have completed all the necessary tasks that Major Geeks suggests to find a virus 3 times. Every setting or file is being changed on its own and this increases as I attempted to stop it. Answer:COMPUTER TAKEOVER HAPPENING (my computer, settings & files are being changed )!!

If you cant post a HJT log, copy and paste it inline and and I will convert it for you.

Download HijackThis 1.99.1

Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the ZIP file as your backups will not be safely stored.

Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

Run HijackThis and save your log file.

Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next post. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post as it will be removed).

Hello!! This seems to be the best place to find out some answers! A few weeks ago, I had a nasty virus on my computer. Luckily I had internet on my phone and was able to look up how to remove the virus and thought the problem was taken care of. Over the last week or so my computer has slowed to turtle speed, when I click on any program to open it, I can walk away and do something else for 10 mins or so as that is how long it takes to open. I have run MalwareBytes as well as my Antivirus program(norton security suite) and they have found nothing. Granted I have only been able to do a quick scan for av, I tried a full scan and it took 6 days to go through 170,000+ files and wasn't even close to done. So I'm not sure if the virus wasn't fully removed, as I thought, or if this is a ripple effect from having a virus.

And now, upon restarting my computer this morning, it told me that it found new hardware, unknown, that needed to be installed. One of my drivers just disappeared it seems. I'm not sure how, why or what caused this but is there a way to fix it?

I am replacing my mobo, os (win7 pro 64bit), adding ram and a ssd. I want to put all of the programs on the ssd with the os.
How do I move all of Outlook with emails and the folders to the new ssd? I am hoping that all of the emails and folders and contacts will remain intact.
I should clarify that I will still be using the old HD for storage on the same computer.

I've just changed from Outlook 2003 on my old (XP) machine,to Window Live on my new (Win7) computer.I'm struggling to import the saved e-mails and calendar. The .CSV file method worked for the contacts folder, but not for any thing else. I  do have the  .pst  Outlook back-up file on the new computer, but Live Mail Doesn't want to know!
So-how do I do it?
The Windows Communiy seems not to know either!
And before anybody asks-I've got Thunderbird installed, but it doesn't agree with Virgin e-mail.

Answer:Outlook 2003(old computer) to Windows Live Mail( new computer)

Looks like nobody's got any ideas! I've downloaded the free trial of Office 2013, and this has picked up the .pst back up file, and shows the e-mails etc.But-even if Micros**t say it is possible I have yet to find a way to get the files into Windows Live.

I shared a Canon Pixma MP170 printer on a Windows 7 Home Premium machine. I can see the shared printer name over the network from the XP machine within Add Printer Wizard screen. When I try to add the shared Canon printer on a Windows XP SP3 computer it says it will connect to the printer to download drivers but than it says no drivers are available.
Then it opens up a screen that asks me to provide an unnamed INF file. I put the install CD for the Pixma in the CD tray and pointed it to all Canon INF files located on the CD (one at a time) but it will not go any further. I also found same type of Canon printer INF files within the Program Files/Canon printer folder, but it would not use those either to complete printer add.

Am I missing some procedure that is needed to add a shared printer on a Windows XP computer from a different operating system such as Windows 7 Home Premium?

The Canon MP170 works both when plugged into XP machine and Win7 machine through USB port

Thanks for any help that someone can provide

Well, today when I woke up I tried starting my computer, but it started making beeping noises and the light on the expansion bay started flashing. I looked up the problem, and found it it's beep code. The beeps my computer is making is as follows:
short, short, long
short, short, long
short, short, long
short, short, long
short, short, long

There is a one second interval in between each set. I went to the HP site and found this page: . However, I'm not sure if it applies to my BIOS or not. I have a HP Pavilion Media Center m8120n TV PC, 3GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 7350 LE Graphics Card, and about 500GB of HDD space, and an Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600.

I tried looking for the specific BIOS on my computer, but couldn't find it. So I can only assume what they say is my problem is what it actually is. Which is that my computer was "Unable to initialize video or video card required but not installed". This computer is about 4 years old, and I have never changed the card, and have not updated the drivers for several months. How can I fix this problem? I read on other forums where people where having problems with their RAM they had to try putting it into a different slot, however, I'm not sure if my computer has multiple PCI-E slots to do this. Furthermore, If I do have to do something similar, I have no means of grounding myself. Would it be okay if ... Read more

Answer:Computer makes beeping noises on start, computer wont run

Do you have any display at all?

If not, then it's probably certain that the beep code is correct; that your video chip needs butter (because it's toast).

Does it have a video card installed? If so, pull it, and see if you can get display through the native video output. If it is without a video card, go to a local shop, and see if they have on old one, compatible with your system, that you can use to test with. If it tests good, you probably need to buy a video card...

If your computer is disconnected, you can probably get away without any grounding strap. Nothing in life is guaranteed tho'.

Whoa, formatting your HD is a bit drastic of a way to fix a slow computer...what else have you tried? Defragmenting? Memtest? Scanning for Malware? Or simplest of all, freeing up some space on your disk by deleting unwanted files?

Is it possible to install windows 7 on one computer take the hard drive out and put it into another computer? i did this and it wont boot at all.

1 laptop has a busted dvd drive
1 laptop is fully functional

install windows 7 on hard drive of busted dvd drive in fully fuctional computer.

Answer:install win7 on computer hot swaped hardrive with another computer = no boot

It all depends on the chipsets and controller types. The closer they match, the better luck you'll have. It also depends on how they are configured, meaning if one is AHCi and one is IDE, it won't work. Windows 7 is more forgiving in this area, but it still isn't guaranteed to work.

If I ran into a situation that would make me consider this, such as a dead CD/DVD drive on a laptop, I would just install Windows 7 from a USB flash drive. It's a faster method anyway.

How do I get my computer to open a clear problems

Answer:Scammers locked me out of computer, now reqiure a password to open computer

I've not had much luck fixing this one, occasionally it is possible to system restore, ie on vista or windows 7, crashing the system, then repeatedly pressing F8 on start to open the selection menu and select "Repair Computer", then restore to an earlier date. Works if the restore points exist, as the change appears to be a registry one that locks you out. On XP the only solution I've had is to format and reload the system.
Wondering as well if there has been any progress with this scam lock; it has been out for a few years now.

Answer:How come when my windows rt 8 computer updates, i have to refresh my computer hook it to the wifi?

I suspect somewhere in there is an update that messes with your Wi-Fi.
Perhaps by installing them in batches and narrowing it down to what appears to be the culprit, you can avoid that update.

HI Everyone,
This happens about once every week or so.
1. Computer Monitor goes Black, then the "Enter Power Saver Mode" comes up on the screen.
2. Then the screen flashes this pattern (see Attached picture I took) this pattern goes on and off going black and then back to this pattern in a continuous loop every few seconds.
3. Once I reboot everything is normal, until it happens again.
4. I hooked up another Monitor and the same pattern continued, so I ruled out the monitor.
5. Re-set cables and connectors.
6. Cleaned out the inside of the computer.
7. Updated the Graphics Card Driver.
8. Strange that if I have music playing on the computer, the music continues to play through this. It seems that the computer is running, except for the fact that I lose all control.
9. I can't get the mouse or keyboard shortcuts to respond.
10. Hope I did this correctly, Attached are the files I think you need to look at.
OS - Windows 1064 Bit
Thanks for your Help on this!

Answer:Computer Monitor Goes Off, Strange Pattern on Screen, Computer Reboot to Fix

The "power saver mode" thing is an indication that the video card isn't sending a signal to the monitor.
Yet, the crazy pattern shows up - so it seems like the video card crashed, then resets improperly.

Have you tried reseating the video card?
Checking to make sure that it's cooler is free of dust/hairballs?
That the cooler fan is working?
Have you monitored the temps of the card before it behaves like this?
The Admin event log shows lot's of NTFS errors blamed on I/O errors.
As such, please run these free hardware diagnostics:
Start with the Hard Drive diagnostics please.
Only a few BSOD's in the attached reports (but no memory dumps) - and lot's of Live Kernel Events.
I strongly suspect a hardware problem here, and think that the hardware diagnostics will help to identify which hardware component is to blame.

Good luck!

So i got this pc about a month ago . It's an i5 2500k, hd 7850, kingston 1333mhz 8gb ram, wd 1 terrabyte hdd, asrock z75 pro3 board, corsair tx650 psu . The freezing occurs at completely random times, it started happening about 3 days ago, it does it when the computer is left alone to download, happens when im playing, doesn't seem to matter.
There is no bsod,no minidump , or any message written on the screen. The monitor just blacks out, keyboard no longer responds (cant disable numlock for example). How should i start troubleshooting this (win7 pro 64)?

Answer:New computer, screen blacks out at random intervals, zero response from computer

Best place to start troubleshooting is with your drivers

Did you build this computer yourself?
if so go to Asrock's Website and look for drivers of your motherboard model
Update all your drivers
Make sure to run windows updates and install all required
check updates again just in case there was something missed

Run Driver verifier and see if you get BSOD and mini dumps

Ok, this problem has been on going for a while and its bugging the crap out of me.

1 newer build computer connected to D-link 655 via Cat6.
1 laptop computer connected to same D-link 655 via Wireless N minicard. (Intel) (130Mbps connected) Router on a 10 foot shelf, always have full bar in wireless strength on 2nd computer.

Both computers can upload and download as expected from the internet.
Transfers between the two computers though are slow.
Both computers are loaded with Windows 7.

Transferring files to or from the laptop transfers at 1.5MB/sec to 2 MB/sec.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Answer:Slow file transfer from Wireless computer to Wired Computer

I've been having the same issue and have not found a total solution. the best i have managed to get is 2.5-3MBs. the biggest help that i found was disconnecting any and all wireless G devices. since your router isn't dual band any G devices will slow it down to 54Mbs. second thing was to lower the wireless encryption from 128bit to 40-56bit under advanced sharing settings in the network and sharing centre. you could also take a look at this page: also look through the comments. good luck!

Hi there,
I'm using Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 4700. Internet Explorer freezes up after 5-10 minutes of use - CTRL-ALT-DEL usually doesn't work - have to reboot. Recently, am unable to open c-drive, Control Panel or My Computer by double clicking. An error box comes up that says: Trial has Expired. You have exceeded your trial period. This evaluation version will no longer function. Please click on the "order button" to purchase your licensed version or the "Quit" button to exit.

Then it gives two options to click: ORDER and QUIT

When I click on Order to see what this is about, it takes me to a Paint Shop Pro page to order. I have an "ORIGINAL" version of Paint Shop Pro that I bought, so I don't know what this trial version is about.

I ran Norton 360 and it didn't catch any viruses. I ran Avast free version and it found some viruses which were fixed. I was unable to run either of these virus protection programs in safe mode so just ran them in normal mode.

I ran Malwarebyes in Safe Mode and it found various problems (Trojan Dropper, Trojan BHO, some Adware issues, etc.).

I'm still having problems. Please help. I'm a rookie user.

Thank you so much.

Has the problem always been apparent or has it just started to happen recently?

After the bluescreen, is it asking you you would like to start in safe mode? If not, repeatidly press F8 as the computer is first started and it will come up with a menu asking you to select a boot mode. Select Safe Mode (no networking, initially).

Does it boot in Safe mode? Come back and let us know.

My computer, in the last 3 weeks, has become increasingly moody. When I try to watch a video (on a secure, safe, legal site, such as watching a tv show on, or try to use my computer game, The Sims 3, my computer will start to run it and then show the "Blue Screen of Death" (where at the bottom it says its dumping physical memory to disc) before crashing and restarting. I have tried restoring my computer to a time before I was having these problems, but errors have occurred and the restore is never successful. I have disc defragmented my computer, and even turned of my Norton Anti-virus to see if perhaps it was messing with my system. I just can't seem to get my computer to run a video, tv show, or my computer games!!! I have also run a scan to see if Norton could FIND anything wrong with my computer! No luck!I'm trying to avoid doing a faculty restore on my computer, and I have a gut feeling that wouldn't help with this problem anyway. My computer/system information:Windows System Home Basic 2007, Service Pack 2Dell Inspiron I1420Intel (r) Core (TM)2 Duo CPU T5250 @ 1.50 GHz2.50 GB32-bit Operating SystemAlso, while it seems un-related, I've also had problems with my Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007. I reloaded it, and re-entered my product key only to find that Word claimed that "selection is locked" While I don't see how this could be related, I figured I'd mention this as well. I'm completely stuck and ve... Read more

My computer has lock-ups every so often where I will have to manually re-boot.  Lately, in the past week or so I've noticed that when I boot my computer it works very hard (i can hear it working) but it takes 7-10 minutes until I can open and programs, internet, etc.   My desktop boots normal very quickly, I just can't access anything until the computer (works hard) for the 7-10 minutes.. then it seems to slow down or (catch up finally) and I can access stuff.    When I do have a computer freeze.. (few times a week) sometimes It will just freeze and sometimes it will freeze and a contant beep will sound.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Recently, I bought a new chaintech 7NJL6 motherboard, new 256mb ddr ram, new video card nvidia g-force 2 MX 400, and I'm using my old cpu which is a AMD sempron 2400+, Operating System Windows XP PRO SP2, Using onboard motherboard audio,160gb wester digital WD 1600BB-0FFTAQ I never had problems with the processor before but when I run any video game applications or any music files, my screen gets all garbled up, everything just halts and remains frozen until I hit the reset button on the tower. Also, I'm able to go online with no problems. The other problem is when I *ONLY* put my old CPU back into my other computer which I never had problems with before, the same problem occured again with my old computer; I ran a video game and my monitor froze and the screen was all garbled. I've got a fan and properly made sure the heatsink on my CPU was properly installed. I'm using (speed fan) application to check the temperature on my cpu which is clocking at 32C. Also, I never overclocked my processor. I was able to get two minidump files out of the 20 computer errors thus far. Also, I see this one other error; The DgiVecp service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified. I've fixed this error by chaning the registry start value for this application to (4). The DGiVecp error hasn't appeared since but this was after I had the computer freezing and garbled monitor error that'll once in a while reset on its... Read more

Problem has been resolved. My graphics card was creating the conflict, just needed to upgrade my video card drivers and adjust the setting accordingly.

Do new computers that have Windows 10 factory install do better than the ones that are being upgraded to Windows 10?

Question: How would you approach this migration?

I just bought a copy of Acronis True Image 2013 with Plus Pack. It appears that this is all I need as True Image will install the new motherboard drivers as part of the migration process. But do I stay with MBR or move to GPT?

Presently both Win7 (on a 120GB SSD drive) and Win8 (on a different 120GB SSD drive) are both MBR format. I don't want to start over from scratch. That's why I bought the Acronis 2013 with Plus Pack.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Answer:Migrating Win7 & Win8 frm a BIOS computer to UEFI computer

Why would you need GPT on a drive less than 3 TB ? I'm not sure if TRIM on SSD would work on it.

Hello everyone - I am a new member of the forum and hope that someone reading this might be able to help me with a problem I have with my computer.

An error massage display on screen if you are displays its screen first time then restarts your computer
Some time my computer start and now after restarting my computer will not start

When this happens, I am unable to log off; the computer on/off button does not work when the screen freezes and I have to turn the computer off at the mains.

My computer runs on the Windows Vista operating system.

I changed from Internet Explorer browser 6 to 7 yesterday but the problem of the computer screen freezing persists.

Any helpful advice on this would be much appreciated.
