Also, I have a Lexmark311 allinone printer. Everything seems fine until I begin to install it, and then i keep getting this dumb little thing at the bottom about hardware that can safely be deleted, and it wont go away. I uninstalled lex3100, and that went away. Buttttt I need my printer/scanner.
I am so dumb to all of this, but learning a lot here....donated
So if you respond, make it in terms a dummy could understand.....me. Also have not downloaded all updates yet.
Thanks Jeannie

Preferred Solution: cant download yahoo games

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I know this is more of a rant, but maybe it will help others who might experience the same problem.

I recently got Verizon DSL, which is now partners with Yahoo. Fine, I have a Yahoo account for e-groups to be able to access the Fly Lady e-group. I don't use them much, and I didn't think there would be any problems associated with them.

With the DSL Verizon/Yahoo package, I'm able to download some security items. I went and downloaded the pop up blocker and anti-spyware programs. I wasen't too thrilled that they told me that I needed to download the tool bar to get the spyware. I did that anyhow. I figured what's another tool bar, and I can uncheck it. Ummm Hummmm.

I was actually thinking about the anti-spyware they had, but wanted to look into it further. I get on the net. Wow DSL is extremely fast from what I'm use to. On the first page I go to, I get a pop up advertising other Verizon/Yahoo security items that I didn't download. Ok, maybe this is a one time thing. I browse around on the net a little without any problems. Then I decide to get on Major Geeks.

I'm reading the posts, and see a link to a website I wanted to visit. The person was talking about how he had installed the Verizon/Yahoo package, and was having problems with pop up ads on these two particular pages. At this point I start right mouse clicking on the link and click on open in new window. I'm a multiple page window person, and am known to have 4 t... Read more

I have been working with ya'll on fixing existing problems in my computer. All cleared up now, but I have a simple question. Am I pretty safe in going back and using places such as MSNgames, Yahoo games, etc. and playing the online versions? I feel they are pretty reputable sites, but want to make sure so I don't get into the "problems" again.

Also, my kids are signed up on toontown thru disney.com - we have paid for one month (only 4.95) but I don't want them to access it again, without knowing my computer is safe in those sites?

Question: Yahoo Games/IE^

Hello Tech Support Guys!

I have an issue regarding Internet Explorer...I think. I only have this issue when I am closing a "Room" for Yahoo games. If I go into play a game of spades/euchre and I "X" out, then my IE freezes and the only way to unfreeze is to end task in the task manager. I have not had any other issues like this. Is it a Java error? IE error? or Yahoo games error? I have searched for the answer on Microsoft.com, yahoo troubleshooting and the web in general. This is how I found your site. However, when I clicked on your link, I could not find the Thread that had the key words I searched on in it. If you can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

I use XP Pro... I used to have this problem before but I think it fixed itself... but now that yahoo adjusted itself and did something new...when Im in there playing I freeze up..I use Virtual Machine ..I used to have JAva too but they both used to go against each other and make my game laggy and choppy so I deleted Java and it works better for chopiness...but I still freeze up after awhile...and have to leave room and go back in. I have playe don my sons computer and it still does same thing... so I dont think its my computer..I think its yahoo or something I have that makes it do that when I go in there...can u help? I have looked at other yahoo problems on here and none seem to have same problem.

Answer:Yahoo Games

The problem with Yahoo! and other game sites like Pogo is that they use Java. Most of the time it's fine but there's always something that they don't have the answer and more than likely don't bother to try to fix. And since Pogo is part of EA, there is no suprize there that there no support.

All i can suggest is to update your java machine, whether it's Java or VM

Answer:I can't get into yahoo games

Hello and Welcome to TSF

Lets start by making sure the pc is free of spyware/adware

Download / Install / Update / and Run:
Adaware SE check for any updates before running it.
Get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. You can download it at this SITE
To run this tool, install to the hard drive, then open Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection.

Download and install Spybot S&D . Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix and install it over the current Spybot installation.

Scan your pc with one of these free online scanners:
Panda ActiveScan
RAV AntiVirus
Housecall. Be sure to put a check the box beside AutoClean.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! ( Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp!... Read more

Answer:yahoo games

what is the current version on your Java Plug-ins?

you can make sure it's installed properly by going to your Control Panel and looking for "Java Plug-in" (its, appropriately enough, an icon of a steaming cup of coffee)... if you see it there, you can click it and in the pop-up control panel go to the last tab, where it displays the version:

Java 2 Run Time Environment, Standard Edition
followed by a long number...

i use the latest which is 1.4.1.01, but earlier versions should be okay. like 1.3 or 1.3.1... if any lower than that, you may want to upgrade.

if you don't have it installed or want to upgrade, just go to the Sun site and download it. it doesn't install on top of the previous version, so i recommend uninstalling any earlier versions, then putting the new version in.

Good day all! I've just loaded XP Pro on my home system and cannot get games on Yahoo to work... I've also got XP on my work system, so I know it CAN work... We tried another reload this afternoon and when we went back into Yahoo it told us that we needed "Virtual Machine". We downloaded that then it took us to the download page at MS. Then we received a message telling us that we needed a newer version of XP and sent us to the Update page. There we downloaded Service Pack 1. Yahoo's games haven't worked since. Any thoughts anyone? It's really beginning to irritate me....

You need to double-check that Java and JavaScript are fully enabled in your browser. Follow the steps below for your browser:

Internet Explorer 5.XX or 6.XX for Windows

Click "Tools" in the menu bar, and then select "Internet Options."
Click the "Security" tab. For the Internet zone, be sure that the Security level is set to "Medium" or below.
(If you have chosen to customize your security settings for the Internet zone, be sure that under the Java heading, "Java permissions" is not set to "Disable Java." You will want to select one of the three safety levels instead. Also be sure that under the Scripting heading, "Scripting of Java Applets" is set to "Enable" or "Prompt.")
Next, click the "Advanced" tab.
Scroll down until you see the sub heading "Java VM."
Check the boxes next to "Java logging enabled" and "Java console enabled."

(Note: If you checked the box next to "Java JIT compiler enabled" and are experiencing freezing problems, uncheck that box.)

By default, the Windows XP operating system comes with the Internet Explorer 6 browser without the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) installed, which is required to run Java programs such as Yahoo! Games.

With a name like that I'd guess you're from Baton Rouge. Lived there myself from 1976 to 1988...Goodwood Blvd/Sherwood Forrest.

I had nothing but trouble myself with Sun Java in Yahoo and Pogo games. Luckily I found a link to download the Microsoft Java VM. Once I dumped Sun Java and went back to Microsoft Java VM, all was well in Yahoo and Pogo games.

Hopefully, one of the download links at this site will still have a copy of Microsoft Java VM that you can download:

For years I've been playing Pinochle and Cribbage on the Yahoo game site, (interactive). Tried using my favorite's link to get to the pinochle game room today but nothing loads. Searched around the Yahoo games site and can't seem to find these rooms anymore.

Does anyone know if they just removed them?

The only thing that's happened since I played last, I downloaded M/S Windows Vista upgrade advisor to see if my computer was capable of running Vista. Before I could run the program I had to download a security update for M/S. NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB917283 & KB926770) Could this be preventing me from access to these game rooms?

Thanks for your help/advice.

Question: yahoo online games

I have just started playing yahoo games online. Is there any danger from hacking, add -were trojons ect ??.

Answer:yahoo online games

I don't think so as I myself have recently signed up to Yahoo and I haven't been hacked yet and I think if hacking was this widespread then people wouldn't bother signing up and the existing members would no longer use the service.

Answer:yahoo games not opening

[tsg=welcome][/tsg]
make sure you do not have the yahoo games site listed in your hosts file

do a search for hosts in your local drive, and when you find them (should be about 3 of them) you want to open the one without an extension. Not the .bak or .sam ones.
In there, see if rd.yahoo.com is listed, and if so, then remove it from the listing

Also check to see if games.yahoo is listed.

If neither, and nothing in the hosts file, then please let us know what is happening when you try to connect to it. any error messages, etc!!

i just got a new computer with windows xp. everything was working fine and all the sudden when i try to go play cards or any other game on yahoo the browser closes. i tried to restore my computer to a previous date but it still happens. i dont know what i have done to cause this. i did a panda activescan and it is clean.

Answer:yahoo games won't play

Probably a pop-up ad stopper is still active. Hold down CTRL when you are clicking to enter a room. If that works then you have a pop-up blocker enabled.

when ever i try to play yahoo or jippii or most internet games, i always get a blank page with a circle, square, and a triangle. what program do i need to get to play these games ?

Answer:yahoo / jippii games

When you say yahoo games do you mean like literati or checkers or bingo? Those games? Are you using WinXP? If you are, try looking in add/remove programs for a java program. If you don't have java in there, you will need it.

what OS are you using? I'm not a tech or anything, but by me answering your thread, puts you back to the top of the forum, in hopes that someone else who is good at this will answer.

Oh and I can say "welcome" to you.

Answer:updating yahoo games??????

In IE 7

Tools/Internet Options/Browsing History/Settings/View Objects

This will bring up a Window, ur game name will be in that Window

Right Click it and delete it

Close Windows

Then go to game i.e. Yahoo Literati, it will download the new version.

You might want to make sure ur Java is up-to-date b-4 doing this or download file might be damaged.

*In IE 6, it was in the same place...maybe worded a little different.

Question: Yahoo Games Issue

Hey guys. Interesting problem here. I've been able to play Yahoo Games before (like pool) but now a days i can't. I sometimes just get kicked off the browser, but i've also gotten a message saying:
This game cannot be played using your current settings. Please, try the following:

* Check to make sure that java is enabled in your browser.
* If you do not have java installed you may download it here.
* To learn more about java support for browsers, visit our help pages.

I've tried all of that and nothing works.

I dunno whats going on here. Even IE wont play anything on Yahoo Games. it's really odd.

Im not understanding this...

I used to play on yahoo games with a 56k modem. Since then I have upgraded to DSL. Now everytime I play pool on yahoo, i get about 2 minutes into a game and my computer is lagging so bad the game can barely function.

I go into yahoo pool with system resources at 83 percent and i check it during a game and its down to 36 percent. I have 256 MB of RAM. Is there anything i can do to improve this, and why does it affect me now that i have dsl and not before?

Thanks in advance,

Question: Yahoo Games Server

When I go to Yahoo Games and try to connect to an interactive game, I get a 'Warning' message saying that I cannot connect due to one of four reasons: 1) You are behind a firewall 2) You are not connected to the Internet 3) The games server is down 4)You have a stale page in your cache.
I have Internet Explorer 6.0 -- SP1 Customized - 128 bit; I am always sure that I am connected properly to the Internet; I don't know about a firewall; and the games server is up (I've checked with friends). So, I don't understand why I can't connect to the games server. Any ideas?

It sounds like you your java client might have gotten messed up somehow. Since that is what yahoo uses to run their games. Download and install the newest version of java and it might fix your problem.

Anyone having this problem? I use Netzero as my ISP and have been experiencing connection problems while playing Literati. For no apparent reason, I get disconnected from their server yet my ISP software does not say I'm disconnected and has to be shut down manually.

Not a happy Santa

Answer:Disconnects during Yahoo games

Netzero only offers dial-up Internet service, right? If that's what you have, then that's the problem.Line noise on the phone lines is well known to disconnect Internet connections. Try moving to DSL or cable. If you like online gaming, this is a smart choice. Dial-up is going the way of the dinosaur and is only appropriate for people who need email and who do light Internet surfing.

I tried to use the config. section in the new java program to make an exception for yahoo games but it still will not load. Either I am using the wrong syntax or something else. Java blocks the program from running. Running windows 7 and java version 7, update 51.message edited by wackerman88

Answer:I can't get Java to run my games on Yahoo.

Java usually allows things to run rather than blocking them. Have you a reason to suspect Java - an error message maybe? The usual settings in "Control Panel > Java > Security tab" are:"Enable Java content in the browser" - ticked.Security slider set to recommended position.Next see if the Java addon is showing in whatever browser you are using?Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

Every time I try to exit yahoo games I have to alt ctrl delete out and it goes "not responding." I have the latest version of internet explorer, I'm running on Windows XP home edition, and everythings up to date. I've tried anti spyware and virus scans, nothing comes up. When I click send error report I'm usually given a link to follow which says it's an unknown error which could possibly be caused by spyware, but like I said nothing comes up on scans. Once i also received this link: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=41e6efc5-9ad6-4bd2-a2c5-44a190e3b6ac&SID=1603

It says that the problem could be caused by IBIS toolbar, except I don't have that toolbar. This only happens when exiting yahoo games. I have a friend who's on the same operating system and it happens to them too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am trying to use my new laptop to access a games room on yahoo (Pool). When i click on the room the window opens as would do on my desktop, but instead of seeing a list of players etc, i just get a blank screen with a small cross in the top left-hand corner. Would anyone know why this is. Am i missing some software in order to display this screen. Or could it be the firewall? Thanks in advance..

Hello, Didn't know where else to put this, but anyway when playing yahoo games once getting into the game room there are a couple windows open behind, and once quitting the room, you are back at the rooms window. There is where I am having the problem - it will not close without using task manager. Does anyone know why and how to fix this? I'm using XP and I'm not quite sure whether java has anything to do with this, the browser IE6 or XP2 or something else. It never happens anywhere else except on yahoo games, but I really don't play any other games.

Thanks for any ideas.

I have a Dell E171 FP (flat panel) monitor, which works fine, except when I want to play bridge (multi-player) on Yahoo games. The screen then flickers. I have reset the monitor to factory default, tried to update the driver for the NVIDIA GEforce4 MX420, but to no avail. My screen resolution is [email protected] The maximum supported by the monitor is 75 Hz, but that made no difference.

Following Microsoft instructions for troubleshooting, I went to control panel/display/troubleshooting/hardware acceleration, and by trial and error, succeeded in eliminating the flicker by disabling the Direct X and Direct 3D acceleration. This, however, means that my 3D screen saver is not working. This is not a major problem, but would it disable any other programmes? I have downloaded DirectX 9.0c, but that has not helped either. Many thanks.

Hi all,

I am at my XP machine on network at work, using IE to try to play a game on the yahoo games board. Initially it opens the table up then comes up with a message saying "cant access site, probably being blocked by firewall".

I have seen this before and got round it before but am getting nowhere here. Any suggestions or pointers greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Neil

Everytime I try to play Yahoo Literati the game either does not load or load and freezes.I have tried using using both Sun Java (latest version) and Virtual Machine same thing.
I have attached the log from Hijackthis. Please see if you can help.

Answer:Yahoo Games Not Loading/ Freezing

Try uninstalling then installing again. Don't just download Java and install it over the current installation. If that doesn't work, try downloading and installing Firefox, which I recommend you use it anyways as it is a much safer and more customizable browser than IE.
