Preferred Solution: System 32 window popup

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I own a Sony VAIO VGN-FS742/W with XP Home SP2 running on it. For a week now, I've been trying to get the System Configuration Utility popup window to stop appearing everytime I bootup my machine. I've even gone as far as disable all of whats in STARTUP tab. Which didn't resolve a thing. Everytime I click on radio buttom to not showup but it still does. Is there any kind of Registry Hack that can be done to stop this?

Suspicious system popup window "Restricted" asking for username and password (http://client-projects.com)
I'm getting a suspicious system pop up window on random websites (weather.com, walmart.com, etc. no regular pattern noticed) that says "A username and password are being requested by https://client-projects.com (which is hyperlinked, but I have not clicked on it and don't plan to). The site says: "Restricted" and then a space to enter a username and password beneath."  I've run a virus scan with my AVG, and two malware scans with Malaware and Spybot, and nothing major has come up and the popup is still occurring.

When I try to search (Google and Bing) to see what http://client-projects.com is, the search says the website is blocking the search engine's description, which is a big red flag for me.  I've disabled Shockwave in my Firefox, and the pop up appears to have stopped for now, so am updating Shockwave, but I'm still concerned there might be something nasty on my computer.  How can I check further to try to track it down and/or does anyone else have any info on this popup or website?
Info:
Windows 7
Mozilla Firefox
AVG Virus scan
Malawarebytes Anti-Malware
Spybot Search and Destroy
(VS and Malware scans are ran regularly and kept updated)

Thanks for any help/advice.

My wife's system, inherited from her former job, is/was running extremely slow...slow to load, slow to download web pages. Additionally, an alert window "Windows Installer" is popping up everytime a new window opens (new IE window, etc). She had been using the system's programs at work, but doesn't need them any more: Dame Ware Mini Remote Control Server, OfficeScan, Hotsync, Gotomypc.

System Info: Dell Optiplex GX270, Pent. 4 CPU 2.8 GHz, 1GB/RAM, Windows XP (recently installed SP3)

Any and all assistance would be appreciated.

Answer:Dos Window Popup

Hi ng1469. I do not see any signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean.

It's hard to say what the program is without any information on it. I would suggest posting a question over in the XP forum and see what they have to say. They are the experts in non-malware related issues.

Cheers.

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
Java(TM) 6 Update 3
Java(TM) 6 Update 4

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix to remove a bunch of malware files.

Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!

Question: Window Popup

I have three computers each running xp pro sp2 connected to a server running win 2000 pro server. One of the computers after logging into the network the logging in window continously re-appears. Have checked the little box to remember me and it doesn't matter if you click on close or ok it goes away but comes back in a few minutes. Have resorted to moving the window into the task bar but then the computer doesn't receive any emails until the ok box is clicked on. I have run several spyware programs and the machine is clean. Can't figure out what is going on any suggestions and how to correct this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

Just recently i notice theres a "Get Window 10" notification icon appearing at my notification bar.

I am currently still on Window 7. Should i upgrade it? Will is change anything?

Answer:Get window 10 popup

Yes it will, Windows 10 looks nothing like Windows 7.

You will have to learn everything all over again.

You have installed an update that enables your computer to be upgraded to Windows 10, if you want to.

Hi,

This happens occasionally to me with smaller pop-up windows. I have one on the screen right now. It is an HP Update window, asking me if I would like to update now. I can not see the button to click on the bottom. Sometimes I can just barely make out a slightly darker line in the center of bottom line and it will react when I put my pointer there, but not this time.

I did some research and it said I needed MS. Net Framework 3.5 SP1. I had that. It also said I need the MS Net Framework Assistant. I downloaded it but don't find it listed in my programs in Control Panel.

Also, when this happened last week, I did go to HP in Programs and ran the update file. One update was successful and one was not when the HP Installer Plug-In stopped working.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Hi! Is there a way to set constant UAC popup window positions? It appears in different places on the screen depending on application, for example while starting Total Commander with administrator's right the UAC window appears at the left low corner, Symantec Endpoint Protection - at the middle of the screen's bottom. It's not a big problem of course, but maybe it is possible to fix such behavior? thanx in advance

At a guess, I'd say that the UAC prompt appears near where you double-clicked the icon to start the relevant program. If you launched it from the <WINKEY>+<R> Run dialog, then UAC will appear near the bottom left of the screen.

When the IE finishes loading a window this pops up automatically. Happens on a random basis. How can this be permanently disabled?
A friend of mine even complains that WinXP does it with tasks, but I couldn't confirm this.

I think it might be spyware. Get Adaware and scan your drive for stuff like Save and Gator, etc.

Hi,

My son's laptop has started displaying a popup dialog box when he starts the system up. the error message is below

"windows cannot find loader.exe make sure you typed the name correctly then try again to search for a file click the start button and then click search"

This dialog box obviously has an OK button and normal window close, zoom, minimize etc. This normally happens just prior to live messenger (i think that's the version he's running) starts.

I've run as-aware 2007 against the system and installed AVG and ZoneAlarm. I've checked various sites which seem to think this could be a malware problem? Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Additionally I was wondering whether this could adversely effect wireless connectivity or could I be barking up the wrong tree and looking at a separate issue?

Thanks in advance and apologies if I'm wasting your time, but I'm at a loss as to what it may be.

Rich

Answer:Popup Window For Loader.exe

Just as an update. I'm working through (albeit slowly) the Hijack This file I posted yesterday and have come across the entry

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tsnp2std] C:\WINDOWS\tsnp2std.exe

doing a wider search on this seems to indicate that this is some form of malware.

there is also

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [C:\WINDOWS\system32\V0260Ext.ax] C:\WINDOWS\system32\RegSvr32.exe /s C:\WINDOWS\system32\V0260Ext.ax

about which I can't find any information (in english) but it does worry me that something is running regsvr

if anyone can please advise on the above I'd appreciate it. I will also continue to work through the rest of the file.

Thanks again in advance

Rich

Whenever I surf through Amazon or other sites, sometimes almost at random. A window pops up saying that the site is trying to install something called res:ieframe.dll from a trusted website. No matter what I do this popup keeps appearing and takes three clicks for it to disappear only to reappear in the next page. Oddly enough it doesn't appear when I use Firefox. I've updated my Adobe Reader, Flash, and Shockwave. I've updated my virus and malware scanners and nothing appears after a full scan.

I tried speeding up computer a while back by turning off some service in the "Computer Management" under services and applications. I "disabled" some and turned others to manual. Now somethings aren't working on my Windows 2000 machine, like right click popups or mouse overs. Here are some of the symptoms:
- When I right click on "My Computer" then select manage, I received the Computer Management window, but when I select services and right click on a service that appears in the right pane, nothing pops up and let's me change the the values or see the dependencies. Then when I try to close "Computer Management" I get a message that says "Close all property pages before closing Computer Management."
- When I'm on the web, and mouse over a title that has java script which would normally show a submenu to the right, the menu does not appear.
- When in Computer Management, after selecting "Local Users and Groups" and selecting "groups", when I right click on any group and select "add to group", MMC.exe crashes.

I've compared computer side by side and a couple of services that might ought to be running on the affected computer aren't and since they are disabled I need to have the "property page" appear before I can change it's status to automatic or enable etc. The ones I think I need to get "enabled" are: Utility Manger, Task Scheduler, RunAs Servic... Guys, and girls,

I need help. ASAP.
Recently I have noticed this annoying "Work Offline" popup window appearing each half an hour on my display.
First time it happend was few months ago, when I have installed something, I don't know what. I could not solve it, so I reinstalled the whole operating system.
Few weeks after, when I installed the Corel X4 (cracked) it appeared again. And again I could not solve it, but reinstalled the operating system.
NOW IT CAME AGAIN! I installed "gBurner" software.
I know it happens because of the software that carries some malicious scripts. Those scripts attach to explorer.exe, since through Task manager, I noticed the process that runs "Work offline" was explorer.exe.
I do not have internet connection on the computer that has this problem. And I suspect that if I had it, this Work Offline would link me somewhere from where I can only pick spyware and bugs.

Please help...

my mail is: [email protected]

Answer:Annoying popup window

A good place to start would be to uninstall the ILLEGAL software you have and test.

Hello,

I read about another person that had this same type of issue, but I can use some help with this whole process. First off, I am using Vista Business edition. I got some sort of virus on Facebook when asked to download a file to be able to view a friend's video. Stupid me for clicking the link. Anyways, after that, I get a IE popup that comes up every few minutes from various websites.

I had Avast Pro, not sure exact version. It was out of date so I uninstalled it and tried to download the Free AVG version. Downloaded it and it found nothing, but the virus definitions weren't up to date. Tried to update and I was getting an error message with something to the effect that the file couldn't be found. I then tried to update my Spybot, same thing. This message says Error retrieving update info file!

Another part of the problem is when I try to go to certain websites, I get redirected elsewhere. Here's an example. I google search antivirus. I click on the link that shows me it will route me to www.pctools.com, third option down from the top. When I click the link, it redirects me to : hxxp://www.findstuff.com/home/search/?uvx=...GnO0vhY2W5lAA** This happens with most sites I try to search.

Ok, so I hope this is enough detail, anything else you need to know, let me know. The other person that had this issue had pasted something from a Hijackthis log, which I would like assistance on obtaining myself so I can show you what's going on.

I am operating with Windows XP and have been getting a Popup Window entitled: "nmctxth.exe - Unable To Locate Component" It further says:
"This application has failed to start because NETSH.EXE was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

I believe this message started after getting a Cisco wireless router and the software "Network Magic." I did download a newer version of it, and also updated my CA Anti-Spyware program which the people at Cisco seem to think it is coming from. However, the message is still there, plastered across the screen every day, and I am pulling my hair out trying to find a fix that will delete it.

Can anybody provide any info on how to delete this annoying Popup?
Thanks!

Answer:nmctxth.exe Popup Window

I have a problem with a Popup Window that is entitled "nmctxth.exe - Unable to Locate Component". The rest of the note says: "This application has failed to start because NETSH.EXE was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

I am running Windows XP, and this message started appearing after installing a Cisco Router and the software "Network Magic". In trying to get help from Cisco, they seem to point to CA Anti-Virus Program I have as being part (?) of the problem. So, I donloaded a newer version of "Network Magic" and also the latest version of CA Anti-Virus. But I still have this *&^%#L( popup message plastered across my screen.

Can anybody suggest help in getting rid of this annoying Popup?

Well today I was looking for "skins" for my Counter-Strike: Source game. Came upon this site from Google, clicked on it and was taken to the page. Looked like a pretty alright site. Navigated the page for a bit and found a nice skin. Proceeded to download it and then I get a bunch of popups from McAfee saying that it blocked Trojans. I can remember one entitled "Zlob" and one entitled "General". There was one other but I forget what it was called. Then the icon in the taskbar showed up. And every 10 minutes or so it flashes a message saying that it is infected and I need to download software. I have had this exact same problem in the past on this computer, and it was fixed by the SmitFraudFix. That is why I need your help. Don't know what to do next.Have one question and is that, is this thing just an annoyance or does it work as a keylogger too :X.The following is the logs:Deckard's System Scanner v20071014.68Run by Chris on 2008-07-11 19:49:26Computer is in Normal Mode.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- System Restore --------------------------------------------------------------Successfully created a Deckard's System Scanner Restore Point.-- Last 2 Restore Point(s) --2: 2008-07-12 02:49:31 UTC - RP2 - Deckard's System Scanner Restore Point1: 2008-07-12 02:38:01 UTC - RP1 - System CheckpointBacked up registry hives.Performed disk cleanup.-- HijackThis (run as Chris.exe) ---------------------------... Hi and welcome to Bleeping Computer! My name is Sam and I will be helping you. From what I can see, you don't have a keylogger. But anytime you have a malware infection you should take normal precautions and change passwords. It's much to better to have done it and not needed to than the other way around. Please visit this page for instructions to download and use Combofix. How to use CombofixThis includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet. Please post the log from Combofix here in your next reply.

Hi,I really hope that someone would help me with this problem.I'm running Windows Vista as OS. There are no virus or spyware on my computer - i'm 100% sure. Two things I made today before the problem appeared was to update Vista and to install the live-tv software called Zattoo. The problem is that I constantly get popup windows with the message: "Test".It's the "usual kind of Window popup windows" and not virus/spyware popup windows...Please someone HELP me, because it's getting frustrating (!!!) and I don't want to format the pc.Thanks!

Answer:Popup Window In Vista - Help!

Since Zattoo is of the P2P type of share software, it's probable you picked up 'something' in the down load. You may be 100% SURE you have no viruses, etc., but the popup says different. Please follow our basic instructions here and post anew.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/34773/preparation-guide-for-use-before-using-malware-removal-tools-and-requesting-help/

Hi. I have a virus/malware problem and couldn't solve where it comes up. Two weeks ago an pop-up comes up and said my computer is not protected and needs to install Window 7 antivirus suite. It modifies the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/.exe of my registry and insert a C:\Users\YYY\AppData\Local\fga.exe into the default class. Since then I removed the program. Ran the Microsoft Security essential and removed bunch of virus. I also did a system restore since my registry was so mess up after removing the line in the .exe that nothing would come up. Today the virus pop up again. I had to redo another system restore after removing this time a C:\Users\YYY\AppData\Local\hul.exe file and the registry. I downloaded and ran hijackit and dds.com. Can someone help me to pinpoint on what to remove from the system? Thanks.

I'm attaching the hijackthis.log and dds.txt.

Thanks,
Al

Question: Popup Window Issue

So I have several programs - Google AdWords, QuickBooks, Excel 2007, etc... - that utilize popup windows to perform extra work. It could be posting to the Internet or performing a search/replace...you get the idea.

The problem is that these windows grow increasingly taller every time they open up. They soon become so large that the top and bottom cut off of the screen. This never happened in these programs in any prior OS so this must be a Windows 7 bug.

Does anybody know how to correct this issue?!?

Answer:Popup Window Issue

I don't know if this will solve the problem or not, but perhaps try setting those apps to run in compatibility mode for Vista or a prior OS. To do this, right click on the .exe for each app in question, select properties, compatibility tab, and click "run this app in compatibility mode" and try selecting different OS modes and seeing if any of them solve the problem. I would start with Vista and work backwards to older versions.

Hi All,

Actually its not happening to me but I'm actually assigned to me I can't replicate it

Kindly try this site http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folder...p430f5510.html

The problem is when he visit a particular page, It open up 2 extra window only containing an image of the company header logo. The 2 windows indicate this link
http://focus.ti.com/en/graphics/head...ti_logo.gif#90 and http://focus.ti.com/en/graphics/head...i_logo.gif#569.

Here are some of some of the steps
- reset Internet options at Security ('Internet' and 'Local intranet' ) and Advanced tab
- reset the IE by using the MS Fix It-Tool <MicrosoftFixit50195.msi>
- installation of nearly all available Microsoft and Windows Updates by using the 'Windows Update' function
- checking and correcting of some Network and Windows settings
- using another Windows profile onto several PCs and Laptops
- etc.
Hopefully I may have a clue whhy it does this. It works for him in firefox but IE7 seems to make the problem though my IE7 does not do this.

Answer:IE7 POPUP new window image only

Please help what could be the possible causes of these.

Thanks any help will be greatly appreciated

Keep in mind that this computer is not hooked up to the internet nor has ever been hooked up to the internet. Has only a few games on it(Gta: SA, Sims 2 and Doom 3). I have no idea what caused it. I started at no specific time. Yesterday I turned on my computer and that came up. I had done nothing on it the day before except play The Sims 2.

Hello,

I have seen a number of people who have had the same issue as me, yet the "solution" appears to be unique to each computer user, which is why I am posting a new topic here.

Recently I clicked a link to a fairly trusted site, but it hung, so I closed the browser. A few seconds later, I received the fake Windows Security alert popup informing me that my firewall had detected malicious software on my computer called "trojan-keylogger.win32.fung." The Yes and No buttons were grayed out, so I just closed the popup. A few minutes later, when it popped up again, for some retarded reason I chose to enable my protection. This, of course, took me to the website for the Antivirus 2008/2009. As soon as I saw it taking me to a website, I closed the browser. I'm afraid, however, the stuff ended up on my system.

After running a variety of spyware and virus scanners (Panda scan, d-Aware 2008, SmitFraudFix, Malware-bytes, etc.), both in safe and normal mode, I am still receiving the pop-up. I think I've managed to remove the virus, but the popup is still annoying as anything. I'd also like to ensure that I am free from the virus and as long as I get the pop-up, I can't feel that certain.

I've run the steps requested in one of the topics on this forum, and since none of those fixed the problem, I'm now asking here for help.

Is there anyone willing to help me through this problem via hijackthis logs, etc?

Thanks.

Answer:Fake Security Window Popup

Your Malwarebytes scans came back clean? Would you please post a log from it. Also are you running XP or another?
Do you have SpyBot installed?

Hi, this is driving me NUTS!
No matter what I'm doing, something tries to 'run' every few minutes. I see a 'popup' that stays minimized and only lasts about 1 second then closes. If I'm doing something important.... like a raid in World Of Warcraft, WoW will minimize.
I had this happen before and ended up formatting... I have Windows finally running the way I want and don't want to start over again! Please help!

I haven't installed anything recently and I'm a pretty safe user.
I've run Spybot S&D and Ad-Aware. Nothing major picked up and nothing out of the ordinary in the event viewer..so I'm at a loss.

My computer:

Gigabyte K8 Triton motherboard
AMD 64 3000
2 Gigs DDR2 Corsair
GeForce 6800 GT
Windows XP Pro
Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Marc

A few days ago a window started popping up when I reboot. The window has folder Common with only 1 file in it - helper.sig. The Common folder was created on 1/31/09. helper.sig was created 1/31/09 and modified 2/1/09. But it has only been popping up the last few days. I am posting the 2 logs from DDS, but am unable to post the log or report from RootRepeal because everytime I try to run it, it completely locks up my computer. Is it possible to have a desktop shortcut for clock popup window, the one that appears when you click on the clock in the system tray icon, not the timedate.cpl?

Answer:Shortcut for clock popup window?

Why? They are the same thing and a shortcut created by right-clicking the Date and Time icon in Control Panel will put a shortcut to the same thing on the Desktop. The first click on the clock in the Notification Area brings up a view of the calendar and analog clock and there's a link to change the settings which goes to the Control Panel item.

Or maybe it's desired to have an analog clock or different clock on the Desktop as was possible in WinVista? If so, right-click the Desktop and choose Gadgets from the menu.

Hi everyone,I've just downloaded the latest version of Firefox but for some reason every so often, new windows are popping up with ads on them yet as far as I can see my settings should be preventing this from happening? Could I have a virus?

Answer:Pop up window ads coming up - but popup blocker on

If Firefox is the only thing affected, I doubt if you have a virus, but for your own peace of mind you should run your anti-everything programs just to make sure. You could install Adblock Plus and Ghostery, both of which are Firefox add-ons.

Answer:How to disable OfficeBackgroundTaskHandlerRegistration popup window

OfficeBackgroundTaskHandler initiates Office Background Task Handler, which updates relevant Office data.
The issue has been fixed. Update your Insider Preview to the latest version.
Otherwise you can open Task Scheduler and disable the two OfficeBackgroundTaskHandler tasks which you will see at - Task Scheduler > Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Office.

Need a little help here. When I start my computer which has Win XP Home, when it starts and everything loads I get a popup of the "common" folder which is located at crogram files\common. I have checked the start up folder for a reference with no avail. Recently I had a virus or something that deleted my sys config file. I was able to get everything back to normal from a system recovery with the exception of this folder popping up when I start my computer. Any ideals where I can go to find the cause of this and make it stop? Thanks

Answer:Popup window during start up of Windows XP

2 places to check:

1. Msconfig. Hit windows key + r (or click start --> run), type 'msconfig' (without the quotes) and press enter (or click ok). On the dialog that appears, select the startup tab. Try to find a listing that corresponds to the window that's appearing. If you can't, try unchecking one at a time, restarting your system each time, until you find the culprit.

2. HKLM and HKCU in the registry both contain the \software\miscrosoft\windows\currentversion\run key. All startup entries are there.

If you go the second route, be sure to have a proper registry backup before making any changes.

Hello, thanks in advance for reading this. I'm removing spy & adware from a friend's PC, using spybot, adaware, and Norton AV. It seems to have worked, but one odd little problem exists. During the boot process, when the "Windows XP" logo with the moving blue bar disappears, the screen goes black, then the blue background loads for the "Windows is starting" screen - this is all normal. Before that screen appears, though, a large popup window appears, with just a few "boxes" for letters (bad font?), a red X to close it out and an "Ok" button. Clicking the red X does nothing except make the background go black. Clicking Ok is the only way to move past it, then the boot continues as normal. This does not happen in safe mode. I've gone through msconfig and disabled the startup programs, can't see anything in either win or system ini files. I'm suspecting a dll has been replaced, but can't figure out how to find which one. Do you have an idea? I'd like to hear it if you do - thank you!

Good day to all;
On our home pc, we recently had a virus infection and had the pc completely scrubbed. I had asked the tech who was fixing the pc to add the Mozilla Firefox icon as an alternative to IE in case we might need it. He did and ever since each time I logon to the computer in the morning a webpage I once looked at comes up using Firefox. Can someone help me figure out why this single webpage keeps popping up the first thing each morning?

Usually my wife uses IE to get her e-mail and such and we really never use the Firefox. I am pretty sure also that it is not set up as the default. This is more of an annoyance than anything else each morning as I have to close out the Firefox window at logon.

Thanks much!

The problem is on Comcast.net when you click on mail on the top left it brings up a blank window and acts like it is loading. You can wait all day and no timeout. If you stop it and refresh it, it works!
I uninstalled SP2 and re-installed it. But that didn't work.

I have 3 main reasons for suspecting that there is malware present:
1. Attempted communication to Internet by an unknown program deb608??.exe, which I located in c:\Program Files\Common Files\System and also in running processes.
2. Frequent 'pop-up' Web pages with adverts when accessing links to other Web pages, e.g. from Google
3. Degrading performance (especially slow system startup after logon)

Having applied all the steps in your Malware removal guide, I am still getting all three symptoms. I note that there are now two deb608* files in the folder (deb60812.exe and deb60813.exe) and that deb60812.exe is now in my startup processes - this might have been my fault because I was being prompted to allow the startup process to be updated about every 30 seconds and eventually gave in so that I could proceed with this thread.

Windows 7 x 64 with all updates current
A taskeng.exe black popup window has been flashing across my screen everytime I start my computer or resume windows. It only shows up for a split second most of the time. A couple of times it displayed long enough for me to see what it was.
I found the file and it appears to be where it belongs C:\Windows\System32 last modified on 11/20/2010 it's an Application file with 454KB
In Task Manager - Processes it shows 2 of them with my name in the user name column. When I right click them, click on Open File Location they both take me to C:\Windows\System32.
Just ran sfc/scannow, latest version of Malwarebytes and a FULL system scan with the windows security scanner, all in SAFE MODE with the results showing no corrupt files, virus's or malware.

Also tried this from Microsoft

Please follow the instructions:

1. Go to the Start menu.
2. Type task scheduler and press enter.
3. Press continue on the UAC popup.
4. In the left pane of task scheduler, underneath Task Scheduler Local, right-click on Task Scheduler Library.
5. In the View submenu, make sure the Show Hidden Tasks option is checked.
6. Widen the Name column in the center pane. The hidden task that is likely at fault has a name that starts with User_Feed_Synchronization, followed by a dash and a bunch of digits inside a curly brace.

Answer:taskeng.exe black popup window

I'd disable all tasks unless you know for sure you need them.

I'd also uncheck everything in msconfig>Startup and msconfig>Services (after ticking the box to Hide all MS Services) except your AV and any sync. You can add back anything later that you really can't do without starting with Windows, which is usually nothing - maybe a messenger. But you do not need graphics, sound or other software running at startup.

Compare the install you have with the perfect install compiled in Clean Reinstall Windows 7.
If this is the original factory install then that is the worst possible install of Win7.

I notice you have Norton bloatware AV. We see nothing but problems with it, usually solved by uninstalling it and replacing it with a free lightweight AV like MSE or Panda Cloud.

More Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 will usually always find the problem.

Probably a nobrainer for you folks, but when I searched those words I started reading complicated threads that left me confused.

Can someone clue me in on what is going on and if this is a process that can someday save me, how?

I was looking for stream links of a tv show I like on watchseries.li (I know that's bad haha I was desperate and my friend reccomended it so I thought it would be trustworthy) but when I clicked on a link to watch, a new window popped up (I'll post a snippet of what it looks like below). I can't exit out and I don't want to press "ok" because I know it could give my laptop a virus if it hasn't already got one. I've tried restarting, I've also tried ctrl alt delete and then task manager etc to stop it but it didn't work. It came up yesterday and it's still there! P.S I'm using Microsoft Edge if it makes any difference. Also I don't think I have any virus protection installed besides spybot 2.4 which my dad installed about a year ago. I haven't bought that Mcafee protection thing that my laptop keeps popping up with.

Thanks! I hope there's a way to fix this!

I have downloaded Hijack This from previous problems so here is my log file:-

i dont know why it keeps popping up. I set up 2 user accts so we could each have our own desktop (which i have done before with no problems) and suddenly this window will not go away unless i click ok. But I dont want that window popping up AT ALL..PLEASE help

Answer:windows logon popup window

What does the window say? It is probably a virus if it will not go away, try downloading malwarebytes (malwarebytes.org), and running a scan. Also, what antivirus are you using at the moment?

Yesterday I decided to install Mirror's Edge game once more. But whilst playing it the game was interrupted several times by a Kaspersky Popup window about something called an Address Mask with a URL I have no knowledge of and underneath that it said 'for instance click here'Can someone tell me what this and does it mean the game shouldn't be played? I have Windows 7.Regards cowgirl66

Answer:Address Mask popup window

Address masking refers to the practice of redirecting from one URL to another hidden address - very often done by malware. Possibly your game is redirecting you which is being detected by Kaspersky - it's probably quite innocent in that case, but I don't know the game. :@)

Answer:t400 volume popup window

which OS are you running? there is OSD option in your display property, under advanced. Just switch that off, and the pop up would not bother you again.

Hey everyone,

I am sorry to post another WIS pop-up thread but i have read so many and i cannot seem to understand how to get rid of this. So i have created this hoping for a tailored fix... Please help, this thing is driving me crazy, not only that i have read multiple threads and some responses seem quiet alarming talking about "backdoor trojans" and identity "theft"...

I am running Windows 7 "legit" and i have all the current updates, i am using firefox and i have loaded "Adblock Plus" as suggested by someone TSF. I am not saying that adblock plus does not work because i have found quiet the opposite, so far... The pop up has stopped but i dont just want to mask the problem i want to fix it.

I have copied a hijackthis logfile as everyone else seems to do... As you may already be aware im no IT Tech so please bare with me :)...

Hi,
Does it occurs on all websites?
If not, this pop-up window should be designed by the website developer.
Here is a website for trial, click it.

Hello all,

Having an issue for the past week or so where every 30s-couple minutes a popup window comes up for a split second and then goes away. I was able to get a screenshot of what it looked like by using a video capture program, that is process explorer in the background.

Also, since a week or 2 before that started, I'm having an issue with opening up links in google bring up ads instead of what I want.

Nothing is picked up from AVG or Malwarebytes

In the past two days a tremendously annoying popup window has started showing up about every minute and a half. It is labeled "Xmarks Authentication" and it asks for a username and a password. I don't have any idea where it came from. I have run a McAfee scan with no result, and have searched the hard drive for "Xmarks*" and found nothing.

Any help getting rid of this nuisance would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello and thanks for helping me. Basically when I get to desktop screen after boot up, a CMD window appears and then causes Mozilla firefox to open a window that redirects me to gameharbor.org. My computer has no performance issues but the popup is just annoying. Tried to get rid of it using Norton and Malwarebytes but it's not working. Also looked in the programs list to see if I could uninstall something but nothing looked suspicious. Any and all help would be much appreciated!

Hi :)

I would like to know if there is a way to hide the URL part of the window title that appears in popup windows (for example "http://microsoft.com - Microsoft" instead of just "Microsoft" like it would appear in earlier IE versions). I tried disabling the phishing filter (only for "trusted websites" though, because the global setting is disabled on a policy level - this is my work computer) but that didn't seem to have any effect on popup titles. Would it work if I disabled phishing globally or is there an other way? Considering the global option is disabled, an alternative solution would be great.

Thanks!

Answer:IE7 - hide URL in popup window title

Can't seem to edit my post, so:

Oh and, just to make sure I'm being understood, I am not talking about the dropdown adress bar that is sometimes added to popups, I am referring to when the page URL is prepended to the actual page title (in the window's title bar).

I am on Windows XP with a v92 modem but my ISP does not support this feature. It still works, in that I get a pop up window when I have an incoming call, and have the choice of answering or ignoring the call. I just can't put the online on hold. This is great and really what I need, except for one thing. It only rings one very short ring and then counts down 10 seconds and is gone. That's fine if I'm right here but often I'm not and can't sprint fast enough to get here and click to disconnect and answer the phone. Is there anyway to extend the time this call alert window is available or even to disconnect me from online automatically so the phone can ring ?
Also I know someone will suggest I get Callwave.... I have that, but unfortunately my new phone provider doesn't have call forwarding on busy, so it doesn't work. I can't get broadband either, because that also doesn't work with this phone service.
Any info or advice ?..... besides getting a new phone company.
Thanks!
