w2k crashing every week

Question: w2k crashing every week

My OS is W2K. I recently had to install a new hard drive. The other one had hard disk errors. My computer is now crashing on a weekly basis. I cannot figure out what the problem is. Last crash was 3/7 am. Got an error for the printer (HP all in one) when shutting down the night before. I have re-installed windows and my antivirus (system suite 5). Can you tell me what could possibly be making my system crash? I did not have a virus or trojan.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have never experienced this symptom before: exactly one week ago, after reinstalling everything, as if timed, my computer crashed again after one week of use.

Here is my system makeup Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GHz, P5N-E SLI, with two SLI-ed nVIDIA 8600GT, 4GB RAM Corsair CM2x1064-6400C4 (4-4-4-12), 500GB SATA WD Caviar under WinXP 32bit.

After a about one week (of stability) the system started crashing and become unstable to the point where it would reset (blue screen) every 5min.

Updated the BIOS & reinstalled everything under WinXP 64bit in a second partition (basically left WinXP32bit in one partition with dual boot) and exactly one week thereafter the same symptoms are now happening.

Could it be my RAM as a week ago when I started to get blue screens at one point after resetting itself a couple of times the PC started issuing 20 sec long beeps without restarting. I removed the RAM and had it reseated. Also under the latest BIOS I had it set to 4-4-4-12 for RAM and slowed it down from 800Mhz to 677Mhz.

I now have the feeling that my HDD is at the source of the problem with a bad sector.

Anyone had this kind of symptom http://images.techguy.org/icon/icon6.gif
Cool?

Any feedback is extremely appreciated!
Cheers!
Chris.

I have a Win 10 PC running 24/7 with the BlueIris app recording several IP security cams. I have the app set to start automatically with Windows via the task manager. I also have the PC set to restart a couple times a week and have a task to restart the BlueIris app daily around midnight. All that works fine.

But every Monday around noonish the BlueIris app seems to shut down as I note when I can't view the cameras remotely. When I get home I see in fact that the BlueIris app is not running. I can restart it and it works fine until noonish the following Monday.

There are no tasks scheduled for noon on Mondays. I went to the Windows Event Viewer and don't see anything relevant, but must admit I am not sure exactly where to look there or if I may have missed something.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to resolving this? I suppose I could throw in another PC restart task for Monday 1:00PM to minimize down time, but that would be a kludge.

Answer:app crashing same time every week?

Did you check the scheduling in the BlueIris Software? https://reolink.com/faq/set-motion-d...-in-blue-iris/

My computer has developed a very annoying BSOD problem recently and I am unable to pinpoint what I might have done to cause this

? Windows 7 Professional
? x64
? Vista Home Premium x32
? Full retail version
? 27 months
? October 2009 (Win 7 release)
? Intel Q6600
? His/ATI HD 5670
? Motherboard : As supplied - Dell XPS 420
? Power Supply : As supplied - Dell XPS 420

These BSOD were very rare then started to get more regular. Usually fairly soon after restart. Another odd thing also started recently which I guess is probably realted - during boot and shutdown there is a very long period of about 5-10 minutes when nothing seems to be happening then all of a sudden the process continues.

Last week I built a PC for a friend with a lot of help from people at [H]ardforum. Here is the build:
http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1036262848&postcount=6

When I gave him the PC a week ago, it was working great. Windows cold boot-up was ~30 seconds, and shutdown was ~3 seconds. All the programs worked fine and as far as I could tell there was no problem with the system. That is, until he installed Microsoft's updates earlier this week. The update appears to have really done a number on his PC. It wouldn't load the OS, and he attempted to fix the problem but was unsuccessful.

I asked him to write out what happened to I could post it here (he uses Gmail). This is what he wrote:

A couple of days ago he informed me that following Windows updates of Office 2007 Service Pack 2, his machine wasn't able to boot past the Windows startup screen. He first tried repairing it, then restoring it to the point before the update - that's actually how he was able to identify the update causing the problem. Then, after identifying the update, he could no longer restore the PC. From that point he tried reinstalling Windows 7 from the DVD. However, the install was only partially successful, in that the PC rarely reaches the desktop and usually gets stuck at startup. When he tried to boot to safe mode, he found that it gets stuck at the Classpnp.sys file. Now he is not able to get into safemode, nor is he able to get onto the desktop. He is wondering if it's ... Answer:Built computer for a friend last week; Windows updates this week ruined boot-up

Reset the CMOS, that may sort out the PNP issue. Maybe not though.

I've had similar problems with one of my machines (my sig rig) but not another (my HTPC) so I don't know what the important factors are. The issues with my sig rig sorted themselves out eventually after a month or two ignoring the updates and not letting them install. I can't recall which ones proved the issue for me, but I also had to do quite a few system restores over that period.

Best of luck.

Hi there. I am writing a post here because I am really mad. Few months ago I have bought my lenovo y50-70 4gb ram gtx960M and the problem occurs until today. The problem is, when I start to play "heavy" games ( like gta 5 or cs; go, lmao) this wonderlaptop crashes. Every time I launch a game, this lapop crashes. I can play 30 mins or 2 seconds but It ALWAYS CRASHES. Firstly, It said that nvidia driver stop responding bla bla bla. So I was searching solution in Internet. They told me to reinstall graphic drivers etc. Ok I did it. Guess what? Crash? Of course it crashes. I was very upset so I decided to update my windows. From W7 64b to W10 64b. Guess what? Ye ye, it still crashes. I turned on V-sync and It helps. Rly. Now i do not receive this annoying statement with "nvidia display stop responding bla bla bla" Now it only crashes without any errors. Sometimes with blue screen but rly rare (thx). Sound loops, image stops, and system crashes. I tried every driver, beta driver, hotfix driver, latest driver, non latest driver. JUST EVERY DRIVER. It doesnt help. I hope u will.Regards! @edit. All temps are fine. Idle 45-50 C  stress 55-65.

Answer:Lenovo y50-70, crashing, crashing, crashing, crash...

I had the same issue. It would crash with every game where nvidia card was used instead of intel. I tried various nvidia drivers but it didn't help. However I tried a really old driver 347.66 (not sure about the numbers after the ' . ') and it worked like a charm! No more crashes and the laptop is stable even after hours of gaming. After that I have never updated the nvidia drivers

This started happening yesterday for no reason. I start up my PC, and everything loads fine. I then launch my browser and after a few minutes of random browsing, the browser hangs, and then it grays out and I get the "program is not responding" thing, but then I try to ctrl alt delete to launch the task manager to end it, but it doesn't pop up. It takes literally like 10 minutes until the browser re-activates and then I am able to use ctrl alt delete and end it. Then, I go to restart the browser and it doesn't pop up. I constantly double click it and then it decides to work a few minutes later, resulting in multiple browsers to launch at the same time.

Sometimes when I'm not so lucky, the browser freezes and after a while THE ENTIRE COMPUTER freezes and I have no choice but to hold the button to restart it.
I restarted it in safe mode and it works completely fine after that.

For about the past 3 days now, I'm seeing System Settings Broker "stopped working" in the reliability history. Additionally, I'm seeing a lot of issues with the Windows Shell Experience Host in the event viewer. What happens is that the action center is not accessible (clicking on it does nothing), and hitting the Win key to bring up the start menu does nothing.
The following is probably the same situation I have. Just wondering if anyone here has any ideas. The support over at answers.microsoft.com is pathetic.http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...401163a?page=1
Maybe I should disable Cortana.

Hello Forum,

I have the following issues -

1. First received the message on the computer from MS informing that we had an error - went to view details it said that we had a Error 1033. I went and pushed the button to get MS to fix this issue - but continually receive the message that I have the same problem.

2. The time that I rebooted - I noticed in place of the CPU gadgets that i have on my desktop that all MS gadgets had crashed. Again a fix did not work.

3. Internet Explorer is not working and the tabs keep crashing.

I did go onto the MS webpage and ran SFC and posting the pics from the results. I am unsure as to what other information or where to go to try and fix this issue.

I have tried everything prior to posting. I am not sure if any snips from Event Viewer may assist.

Thank you

Hi, I have windows Vista Home premium 32 bit OS installed on my computer. For the past week or so, my computer has been acting really weird and running extremely slow. Firefox won't load some pages. Most sites that equire secure sign-ins take ages. Like ebay, and online bankings, HSBC etc. and then for some reason my browser goes offline out of the blue, tells me that I can't browse because the browser is working offline (happens a lot more on IE than Fiefox though, but it does happen on both).

Also sometimes firefox shuts down on its own, without any warning or an error message, when I download something, clicking on the recently downloaded programme doesn't open it, when I right click and then open the folder containing the downloaded item, even the folder doesn't open and when I try to manually open the "download" folder or sometimes even when I try to open control panel, I get a message windows explorer has stopped working and is restarting, sometimes not even the message and windows explorer just crashes on it's own without any error.

I've tried using google chome, but sometimes it just won't load pages. I click on the plus tab, and type the adress some it would load, but some it won't no matter what. the page stays blank which is weid because I've used Chrome before and when you open a new tab the page is never blank, instead it shows your previously opened pages or the history (unless you specifically tell chrom... Presently, I’m having an issue with Chrome not loading specific content on Aweber.com, and when that same content is sometimes loaded from Firefox, it crashes both itself and Chrome, and sometimes, other programs.

This error also will occur sometimes if I launch Steam (SteamPowered.com) while running Chrome. Chrome will crash, as well as the Steam client. (I can only assume this is because they’re sharing something, but I don’t know what.) I know that Steam uses a type of browser internal to it so you can browse the store, interact with other users, etc.

Here’s what occurs most often, and how I can generally duplicate it.

If I go into Chrome and try to compose a new email in Aweber, it just says “Loading” and does nothing. I think this uses Flash, judging from the source code on the page. Doing this same activity in Firefox will, more often than not, crash Firefox, Chrome, and sometimes “unrelated” applications such as Spotify and Notepad++, which occurred the other day. They literally start crashing one after another, in some sort of chain reaction. Apps running in the tray (Evernote, Google Drive, etc.) are unaffected.

Sometimes, in Firefox, the ability to compose a new email in Aweber comes up and works flawlessly. I notice I have the most success with this after rebooting, and going right into Firefox without letting the computer run for some time.

Sometimes when going into Aweber in Ch... Read more

You’re experiencing Chrome crashes due to conflicts between browser installed modules. Run the browser without loading any add-ons, disable the sandbox feature, reset your DNS settings and so on. I’m sure this will fix up Chrome crashes.

Clear Cache Contents and Temp Files:
1. Click Wrench, select Tools | Clear browsing data.
2. A new page would open.
3. Choose “The beginning of time” from the drop down control.
4. Make sure that all checkboxes are checked-up.
5. Click “Clear browsing data” button.

Remove Corrupt User Profile Data Files:
1. Exit Google Chrome.
2. Double click My Computer desktop icon.
3. Open below directory:
C:\Users\[USER_NAME]\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
4. Remove all contents from the “Default” folder.

Good day! I have a problem with my new Lenovo C200 All-in-One. FreeDOS has been installed when I turn it on at first time so I decided to install Windows 7 Pro x64. But there are many unexpected BSOD's while working in Win 7. OK, I installed Windows XP Pro instead Windows 7. It's working OK but - I can't play most of youtube movies based on Adobe Flash Player - there are 3-5 mins and "Adobe Flash Player has been crashed" :-( And there is no any dependence of browser I'm using. Same problem with: MS IE/Mozilla Firefox/Google Chrome. And finally, I can't use videocalls in my Skype! Webcam is OK but when I'm trying to call using videocamera - Skype is crashing. So my question: is it hardware or software problem? What do you think about it? Thank you.

Answer:C200 All-in-One: Flash player crashing, Skype (video) crashing

hi shupike,

The issue that you described seems like a software problem.

Can you try check the following:

1. Make sure you're running the latest version of Adobe Flash (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer)
2. Disable adobe flash's hardware acceleration (right click on the video > choose Settings > uncheck Enable hardware accelleration.
 Spoiler (Highlight to read)
Regarding the webcam, try to install an old version of skype and install the latest camera driver below:

So, basically it goes like this:
-Click play on video.
-Laptop crashes with no BSOD or Error/Bug Report.
-Laptop reboots.
^^ This goes on for longer than just today..
-I run the uninstaller to clean out Flash
-I delete extra files left over after the uninstall.
-I reinstall Flash using the latest version, hoping it will stop. (it didnt)
-Laptop crashes + reboots again.
-I run the Driver Verifier program, which is built into windows.
-BSOD pops up on restart.
-I shut down and run computer in safe mode.
-Delete all settings associated with Driver Verifier, and then I post the Help thread here.

Now the problem is that a week or so ago, something happened on my pc, not entirely sure what but something happened. At the time i noticed something had happened because the colour of the task bar changed from its normal, see through-ish dark colour, to the grey basic colour. After that happened, none of my game exe's would run, they would open for a bit on a white bordered screen for some, then an error saying '***.exe has crashed'. This happens for game exes, steam.exe and some others .exes aswell. Now ive tried downloading a registry fix for .exes and ive run a few of those and thats not helped, ive also ran CMD as administrator and run sfc /scannow a few times and thats come up negative for any errors. Ive ran my antivirus (avg) and downloaded hitman and malwarebites and removed a trojan but that didnt do anything. Another problem that has come from this is that the shockwave/flashplayer in chrome has crashed, so everytime i load youtube etc i cant play any videos or do much online, ive typed 'about:plugins' into the address bar and disabled the both flashes first one, restarted then the other, restarted and tried again but that made no difference so im thinking that its linked to the exe problem, however, flash still works on internet explorer.

Everything ive said that has happened was working before so im doubting its anything to do with the fact im running 64bit windows 7. The only promising thing i've come across is that when i update the graphics card driver, my ... Read more

I have had a few problems with my custom built computer. I believed at first that I had malware and virus issues, however a nice technician on the virus forums said there was no problem.

I am receiving the dreaded Blue Screen of Death fairly frequently, I am not playing any games, just browsing the internet when it happens.

Secondly, my browsers (both Mozilla 3.6.8 and IE 8) are both crashing very frequently - Mozilla comes up with a report message saying it has crashed and asks me whether to send or not to send the report, whereas IE reloads the tabs frequently, but to a point the page cannot be reloaded and has to be closed down.

As well as this, a lot of my executable files are crashing - I am getting error messages from things like java, flash, avg, my network card, windows messenger etc saying that they have crashed.

This problem is happening very frequently, I cannot seem to go half an hour without browsing with no problem.

If anyone could help it would be VERY MUCH appreciated!

Thanks.

Answer:BSOD, exe files constantly crashing, browsers crashing.

You need to post some hardware details about your custom built computer.
Something is unstable and it could well be the memory modules.

In addition, when you see a BSoD click details, it will generally state which executable caused the problem.

I would be tempted to look for a copy of memtest and run some memory diagnostics.

The only promising thing i've come across is that when i update the graphics card driver, my ex... Read more

Im running windows 7 ultimate 64 ... I dont know totally system specs. It's a custom rig that I purchased about 6 months ago. I dont think the specs matter anyway because I don't believe this is a hadware problem, but a windows problem.

Ok,

So about a month ago I was unlucky enough to pick up a virus infection somewhere ... you know, those fake anti virus ones that totally destroy your system and leave you helpless. It started this whole chain of events that lasted two weeks and ended up with me running in safe mode for more than a week trying to fix the problem. I tried restoring my computer via system restore a few times and got an error every time - (which in turn 'damaged' my restore points so I no longer can use this option)

So, I figured I would reinstall windows and fix it. Sadly, whatever was on my comp as turned my CD drives (DVD and bruner) into dead weight - they won't read a thing. So I got Dlite and mounted the CD to a virtual drive and tried to install it that way, but for whatever reason it gives me an error and reboot and wont finish the install. It does however take me too the new log in screen, which gives me an error when I try to create a new log in for the new windows. I was able to get back into the old windows install and managed to delete the new one. Anyway .. I eventually was able to get spyware docter and a few other programs to run in safe mode and I cleaned the comp of all virus's BUT when I tried to run windows normally it would barely run at ... Question: What a week

Started off with a loud pump

Finished with loud pump, fried 9800 pro and 512mg of ram down

Those AMD64's and X800 vid cards are looking attractive.

Does anyone know if they are as hard to cool as the XP and 9800 ranges

Answer:What a week

the x800 pro is probably easier to cool than the 9800xt, iirc. the x800 is a nice, cool card overall. if you're going to the watercooling end for the video card, the x800 is a very good choice. but for speed and overclocking, i'd go for the 6800gt. i've had the opportunity to play with both and i'd definitely go for the 6800 line if it has to come to that. very nice card, but a tad harder to cool.

amd64... i've only played with it on my laptop, but i believe mine (the 3400+) is spec'ed for 63.5 watts, and that's lower than the northwood atm. so you shouldn't have a problem.

Question: After a Week

Hello,

After a week of running scans from the "run this first" sticky, I've finally gotten the attached logs.

It's pretty clear I need to run the sticky for spywarequake, which I will do next, but I was wanting to ask a question. The PC I'm using has 5 accounts on it. Will I need to clean them all, or will one do the trick?

Thanks for any advice, and I'll post again after I complete the spyware quake procedure.

Answer:After a Week

Hi again,

I finished the spyquake instructions, found none of the files to delete listed, and have attached the log file.

I hope it's gone. My first noticed problem was a strange popup saying i needed to download some antimalware program to remove an infection (not there any more), then a ie hijack to syssecuritysite.com page (now gone), and constant popups from Norton antivirus indicated it had been turned off. I've since removed norton entirely from my machine, to my knowledge.

My cable provider has a deal with free McAfee, so I installed that. The only think I notice now is that the virus scan is disabled (not a good sign?).

I know I still need to do the system restore, but is there anything else you see in any of the scans I need to act on?

Thanks for the help!

Just a week ago today I upgraded my laptop's 8.1 to Win 10 Pro. This machine had previously been upgraded from Win 7 Pro to Win 8/8.1 Pro and I'm impressed! Not a glitch or hitch of any description - everything just works exactly as it should, even Bluetooth which has been troublesome in the past so I have to give credit where credit is due - good job Microsoft :major

Our networked workhorse PCs are both Win 7, and both run so well I'm not tempted at present to upgrade either, as maybe everything wouldn't go quite so smoothly on those machines.

So how has it been for other upgraders (as opposed to clean installers)?

Answer:Win 10 Pro a week on

The upgrade process for me went the same way....remarkably easy. I won't be reverting back to 8.1.

The only hitch for me is boot time. It went from very quick to incredibly slow. I had read online that it's been an issue and someone said that with each reboot, it got faster for them. The same has happened for me. I don't really shut down my computer much, though. Its almost back to normal. I have no idea why that would be.

if so try these....

1. remove modem card and reboot, does it boot ok?
2. check that all cards and memory is seated ok... even to the point of taking them out and re-seating them so you know they are seated firmly in place.

We have a Dell desktop with Windows 7 that is having all sorts of issues. We currently have AVG free version and it is finding things and putting them in quarantene, but it doesn't seem to be running correctly and is hard to get in to. Most things listed are Win32 and Win64 Adware Gen. Also INI Shorcut

I have run Malwarebytes, but nothing shows up at all. I have deleted both Adaware blocker and Google Adblock because that is what Chrome said to start with. Didn't help. I was getting the Aw-Snap message. Many times it just freezes up.

What should we try next? We did lose our graphics card a while back due to lightning, followed by losing our sound a few months later. This is all new, though and I don't think it is hardware related. I am not very computer savvy though.....

So i've thoroughly scanned my computer with lots of anti-malware apps and anti-rootkits and yet the only programs that have been able to find issues are Roguekiller and aswMBR. Roguekiller reported some IPR hooks and weird registry entries, but i've heard these could be false positives. I just want to be sure if these things aren't interfering with my SSD, causing stuttering and crippling my computer's performance. The one that concerns me the most is aswMBR, it's always crashing and is not able to finish the scan, and some driver is highlighted as RED, it seems to be related to storage. Safe Mode doesn't work either. I've attached a screenshot. I've tried everything. I also had some weird tracking cookies adding themselves to google chrome after a while. I kind of fixed it by blocking them through the settings. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi,

I have been getting BSOD's throughout the week and they are not the same errors shown on the blue screen. One of the errors pointed towards nvidia drivers so I used DDU and did a clean install of the latest nvidia graphic drivers but still getting BSOD.

? OS - Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 or Vista? Windows 10 x64
? x86 (32-bit) or x64 ?
? What was the original installed OS on sthe ystem? No original OS but installed Win7 when I received the PC, upgraded to Win8.1 then Win10 throughout the years.
? Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? Custom built from DinoPC
? Approximate age of system (hardware)Around 4years
? Approximate age of OS installation (if you know) 2 months
? Have you re-installed the OS? Not since the Windows 10 upgrade from Win8.1

? CPU i5 3570k
? Video Card Nvidia MSI GTX 970
? MotherBoard (if NOT a laptop) Asus P8Z77-V LX
? Power Supply - brand & wattage (if NOT a laptop) 650W Corsair TX V2

Thank you for your time! I could not get the perform /report to output anything it was just stuck on Collecting data for over half an hour. I will post it if it works.

This week i had three BSOD on my new month old MSI GT60-0ND laptop..First while playing WoW,second during boot, latest while exiting Skyrim..Please help.

Answer:Three BSOD in a week

Please make sure that you have ALL Windows Updates.

We have seen BSOD issues with Killer NIC cards. Please try another NIC card in order to rule out the Killer card.
Since this is a laptop, please be sure to have the latest drivers for the Killer NIC card. Another possibility is to disable the NIC card in the BIOS in order to see if it's causing problems.

Intel Wireless BlueTooth is disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions).

Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): [S] DuplexSecure - FAQ [/S] Link broken as of 21 Jul 2012
New link (15 Aug 2012): DuplexSecure - Downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).

One of the 3 memory dumps blames the XBox controller by MotionInJoy. Also, the driver dated from 2009 (xusb21.sys) is known to cause BSOD's on Windows systems. Please uninstall the software for this device and physically remove the device from your system in order to test it.

I've used PC Refresh since CP on my dual-boot and it really helps to use that handy feature, but reinstalling is more dangerous. Keep your Windows 7/8 Product Key for the upgrade.

How do you feel?

Answer:PC Refresh, almost every week

I think refresh is an upgraded version of system restore. I used it last night to troubleshoot an issue with WPA2 i've been having. Turns out I was missing some important files and it prompted me to insert my installation media. This morning i'm doing a full format and reinstall just to be safe because after the refresh It was giving me some weird errors.

Hey guys, new to the forum and I 'advance' appreciate your help. Here's my gig. I was taken over on Monday and have been battling removing junk off my PC since. I noticed my wireless sending/receiving thousands of packets per minute. I also had random popups just generating. My internet (RoadRunner) was awfully slow, and always redirected me to updates.com. I have three sites in my 'Trusted Zone', but I cannot remove them.So far, here is what I have tried.1. As normal log-in, ran Windows Defender, Spybot, HijackThis Stinger.exe and Adware - found some stuff, but popups, lots of wireless packets and slowness remain.2. As 'Administrator' in Safe-mode ran Windows Defender, Spybot, HijackThis Stinger.exe and Adware - found some stuff, but popups, lots of wireless packets and slowness remain.3. Lastly, as my normal 'name' login in Safe-mode ran Windows Defender, Spybot, HijackThis Stinger.exe and Adware - found some stuff, but popups, lots of wireless packets and slowness remain.4. I got the T61 as a gift for my sister who just moved to another state.  The T61 all of a sudden shut down and now won't turn on with a "Fan Error" message.  She has tried blowing it with an air can and it has not worked.  She also tried pressing the "Esc" key and that didn't work out.  I'm very frustrated because it took 2 months to get the laptop in and now it doesn't even work?!?!  Please let me know what options there are.  I prefer NOT to mail the laptop back because it'll probably take another 2 months to get it back.  How do we fix this? Thanks,Chester

Answer:T61 "Fan Error" Less Than 1 Week Old!

I realize that it shouldn't be broken already but stuff happens. That is why you get a warranty. You will probably have to send it back in because the fan is not a user serviceable part. It usually takes 3 or 4 days to get it back. The repair dept is completely separate from the sales/shipping dept.

Hi everyone,The problem
Since about a week I'm getting bluescreens on my laptop while doing things my computer could easily handle before.
Since last friday I've had 4 already, which occurred:
- once while playing a mod map for CoD: World at War;
- once while watching a movie using media player classic;
- twice while playing CoD: Modern Warfare 2.What I've tried
After the first three bluescreens I've:
- been running full system scans with a fully updated Malwarebytes Anti Malware and a fully updated Avast; both scanners didn't detect any infections;
- defragmented both disk partitions;
- used system restore to set back my computer to the settings from 10 days before the first bluescreen occurred;
- updated my graphics driver to the latest version.
This seemed to have worked since I didn't get any bluescreens after that for a few days, not even while playing games like CoD: Black Ops and Saints Row: The Third, but today it crashed again while playing Modern Warfare 2.Some computer specs
Type: Asus X5QS laptop, model N55SF
Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 555m, running the latest 314.22 driver.
Processor: Intel core i7
I hope you guys can help me fixing these bluescreens; I'll provide any info necessary.
Thanks in advance.

It first started when a window message saying mswindows.exe had an entry point error came up every time I boot Windows XP. I tried to fix it by using the Recovery Console, got stumped, restart, and for some reason, booting never made it pass the Windows XP loading bar. It would always restart. Hours of waiting in scanning through Kaspersky rescue disc (the updating was too long, I quit), and doing a repair install, twice, I found out my usb storage devices were the problem. Flash drive and external HDD, removed, yet they work on the laptop. The Flash drive is where I run Kaspersky, so I learn more and more that I'm infected. A few days and few rescue CDs, I think I eliminated most problems. Mswindows error came from a registry problem, the usb storage freezing problem, I'm not sure how I solved it. It came after running a HDD program from Hirens Boot CD. Seemingly the only problem is running anti-virus/malware/spyware software in the OS, without needing a boot CD/USB. I can't even empty the recycling bin without an access denied message. I used unlocker to remove Malwarebytes, the starting indication that my computer was infected, getting messages that prevented me from running the program. I couldn't install AVG, I just downloaded and failed to run ComboFix. AVG's rescue disc cleared out everything but this problem.

I'm stuck now, I don't know how to clean this anti-security thing. I used MBAM on Hirens Boot CD a second time, this time after updating the d... Read more

You should always have a current backup of files you can't live without. So, you are going to have to move Gigs of data to your external. BTW 73GB is rather small these days of data to backup. And it should only take you less then an hour. You would only backup your personal files under C:\Documents and Settings\[YourUserName]\My Documents, Which includes My Pictures, My Music, and My Videos and possibly the Desktop, and Favorites folders as well

Question: BSOD once a week

After upgrading from Windows 7 to 10 Iexperienced ?Video TDR Failures? about every other week. Theynever happened with Windows 7. I see no relation to heavy graphicuses. It seems to me that they happen more frequently when I startagain after putting the computer to sleep and more seldom after Iinstead shut it down. In the first month or so I got a message everytime I woke the computer from sleep that the video driver hadcrashed. After a few updates from Microsoft with NVIDIA driverupdates those messages didn't appear anymore.
I have a stationary computer withNVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT and driver 9.18.13.4192
(recently updated but still failures). It's home made 8 years ago with quality parts and it has workedwithout a hitch. Two screens, and I use DisplayFusion. InactivatedDispayFusion, but still failures. Almost every time there is the sameroutine. The content on one of the screens is suddenly duplicated onthe other. After a short pause the blue screen with Video TDR Failureappears and the computer restarts.
I have run sfc /scannow without errors.
The latest failure happened today andthe situation is easy to describe. I had not started any majorprograms (after Autostarts). I had only started one old program tocheck on folder sizes (FolderSize) and stopped it before execution. Then I installed another old program (TreeSize free) to check filesizes. When TreeSize free tried to open the Video TDR Failurehappened.
The two programs are some years old annot made for Windows 10.... Read more

Keep having this blue screen.
In parallel have a problem in all of the browsers: pages keep crashing, most often happens in Chrome. eBay is heavily used and hugely affected by this problem. it could crash before the page loaded. Not sure if it has any connection to the blue screen though.
Had a Geforce graphic card prior to replacing with Radeon. Have uninstalled the Geforce driver before installing the Radeon.
Blue screen just happens, could be 1 second after PC has loaded, or 2 hours after. 2 days ago had a large Win 10 update , after which PC became relatively stable, but had 1 blue screen since. But anyway PC feels more solid, and Chrome pages crash less frequently.

My daughters computer has thrown out two keyboards in just one week. PS2 connection on a VIA266 mobo running WINXP PRO. The right hand side of the keyboard seems affected. Keys UIOPJKL_+{:@~[]+-09632 Do not work. This is exactly the same on both. When I plug mine into her system, same problem. Plug hers into mine, does not work??. Got me foxed.Uninstalled and reinstalled keyboard several times. What little hair I have left is fast disappearing.Any of you good people have any ideas? TIA.

Answer:Two Keyboards Down In A Week

Only thing I can think of is a short on one of the pin holes on the PS2 socket. Your keyboard will not work on your daughters PC, but has not been left connected long enough to be damaged. That would explain why yours still works when connected back to your PC, but daughters keyboard will not work on either. j.

hello friends i have bsod once in a week and i dont know the reason.

i upload the DM Collector report and the Bsod Report.

thnx for help!

Answer:bsod once in a week

Dont alter the DM Log, post it as it is from the next time.

One thing is noticeable there that is the BIOS version.

Code:
BiosVersion = FJ
BiosReleaseDate = 04/28/2011
SystemManufacturer = Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
SystemProductName = EX58-UD3R
Gigabyte does not list this version, it is removed from the list. That means they dont recommend it to use.

Try to update the BIOS to version FK from GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1366 - GA-EX58-UD3R (rev. 1.7) and see how it goes. Let us know the resulting situation.

   Warning
The BIOS update is a critical process. Any wrong step in the process may damage the BIOS permanently, and hence it is a risky process. If you dont have any previous experience with the BIOS update, dont try it yourself but take assistance of somebody who knows it. Or ask a tech to do it for you.

A clean reinstall after the BIOS update gives a better result.

I was compelled to write my own review after reading some bad ones out there (mostly about the MV-40)...My Specs:AMD Turion Neo X2 Dual Core (L625)4GB RAM160GB intel X25-M SSDBluetoothWindows 7 Pro x64-plus all other standard equipment. The PROs:Form factor:Thin and small enough (without being ridiculous). Fits nicely in a standard leather portfolio and light enough to forget in a backpack. It's a true ultra-portable with size and weight similar to an X200, slightly smaller with the 3-cell battery (a recommended extra). Just the right amount of ports, in generally the right places. The design looks very minimalist with only necessities: left side with 2 USB, one audio, one LAN - the right side has just one USB and one mem card slot. VGA and power in the back. Simple compared to my X60s and its many seams and ports and latches, etc.Build Quality:Great. No roll cage - and who cares. I'm not rolling my laptop, and my drive is SSD. Seriously, I would guess that in this size, ABS plastic is just as durable as Magnesium alloy. I have cracked pieces of metal broken off my X60s from slight bumps where the metal was just too brittle and cracked off. ABS does not do that. Flex in the laptop is minimal, fit and finish is very good - note the missing hood latch complaint below.Screen: At 11.6 inches, it is just big enough for me to work comfortably due to the higher resolution screen, which I have not seen on any laptop or netbook of this size. Hi!
In the last three days or so, I have been having some issues with my PC.  In addition to the issue mentioned in the topic title, I has also experiencing an issue where I was getting ridiculously high DPC latency (it was almost ENTIRELY 7000 or above), and indeed right now I getting a few spikes in that range, although the seem to averaging at about 600).  This was causing significant mouse and audio lag.  A reboot helped, and after some digging around, I determined that my video drivers were causing some thrashing, and I updated them.
I also ran CC Cleaner, which unfortunately cleared out some of the diagnostic logs that I had which recorded the first unexpected shutdown, but I do have the most recent one:

My HP laptop did an update this week.  When I went to shut down it said i could update and restart or update and shut down so i opted to update and shut down.  The next day it was still trying to update so i left it and checked back that evening.  It had finally update however everythng I had on it was gone.  According to the update log, I have never updated it.  Also, it acts as if it's fresh out of the box even though it's over a year old.  I have to relog into everything and it's acting very slow and strange.  Anyoe else have this happen?

I've used PC Refresh since CP on my dual-boot and it really helps to use that handy feature, but reinstalling is more dangerous. Keep your Windows 7/8 Product Key for the upgrade.

How do you feel?

Answer:PC Refresh, almost every week

I think refresh is an upgraded version of system restore. I used it last night to troubleshoot an issue with WPA2 i've been having. Turns out I was missing some important files and it prompted me to insert my installation media. This morning i'm doing a full format and reinstall just to be safe because after the refresh It was giving me some weird errors.

Question: Week Commencing

An example is probably the best way of doing this so here goes....
Every day my department spend different amounts of money on their lunch. What I want to do is calculate how much they have spent over the week (I do this summary every year).

An example of the data I have is

Name Date Of Purchase Cost

Bart 13/12/2001 £10

Lisa 14/12/2001 £8

Homer 14/12/2001 £50

Marge 17/12/2001 £10

Maggie 17/12/2001 £4

Homer 18/12/2001 £45

Marge 25/12/20001 £12
****************************************
What I Want It To Show

10/12/2001(Week Commencing) £68

17/12/2001(Week Commencing) £59

24/12/2001(Week Commencing) £12

Does Anyone Know How To Do This!!!??
Thanks

The Great One

Answer:Week Commencing

What are you doing this in? If it is in MS Access, I would suggest you look at the DATEPART function (especially the "ww" code). You could probably do a GROUP BY where the Date Of Purchase is in the week. Look it up and play with it and if you still need help, post back...

Hope that helps...

Hello I have really problem with repeatedly BSOD on Lenovo A58 machine, MT 7611-77G. I replaced Mobo and ram, all parts original from lenovo. Machine is in warranty.

Problem still occurs. BSOD appears only when machine boots to system. I am 100% sure that is driver. I need help with searching because i have not much time to fix this problem. Please people help me with debugger or explain me dump file. I am going to upload it just now. I tried latest drivers for graphic card (integrated), sound card (integrated), chipset. I also up to date bios. Pc working fine in system but sometimes, really sometimes BSOD occurs when booting. I tried disable sound card also, but still not helped.

Sorry for my english, still learning.

Answer:BSOD once or twice by a week

Your error code is 0x00000024: NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM
A problem occurred within NTFS.SYS, the driver file that allows the system to read and write to NTFS file system drives. There may be a physical problem with the disk, or an Interrupt Request Packet (IRP) may be corrupted. Other common causes include heavy hard drive fragmentation, heavy file I/O, problems with some types of drive-mirroring software, or some antivirus software.

Nothing definitive was cited but with this error code we suggest running Check Disk and a harddrive diagnostics. What make is your harddrive?

What security software do you have installed?

By the way, your English is fine.

I posted over a week ago and bumped it two days later and never got a response so I'm posting a new thread so I have a 0 post count.

Here are the issues I'm having:
-when I click on internet explorer it takes over a minute and sometimes up to two minutes before I can use the window. This is new within the last 2-3 weeks. The window pops up and it says connecting but I can't do anything with it. Anytime I open a new IE window or new tab within an existing window I have this same problem of having to wait for it.

-When I start my computer I get an error message saying it couldn't load the apoint.exe dll or something like that.

-Sometimes when I look in my history (it's not there now so this might not be completely accurate) it shows something like a.doginhispen and something else similar to it. Someone told me these are nasty but they have not shown up on my sophos scan or my spybot scan.

-I can no longer update adaware. It wont connect no matter how many times I try it.

Here is my HJT log:

Hi I had a bluescreen last monday (6 days ago), and I had another one today. Last sunday I had random programs open, and I was watching a starcraft 2 replay when the blue screen hit me. Today I was just watching a video on the internet.

I tried downloading symbols and windows debug. The earlier minidump said something like "Probably caused by : memory_corruption," which sounds like it could be a billion things. I don't think my RAM is faulty - this pair has been working fine for several months, and after running memtest for 3h it showed no errors. Other minidump was more complicated so I have no idea.

Halp?

Btw I'm new here. Hi!

Hi

Have had Windows since 29th July, so going on for a week now. For some reason it now wakes from sleep in an instant (2 or 3 seconds) instead of 90 seconds. It is only in the last couple of days that I have got this welcome speed up from sleep. I haven't adjusted anything, so it must be something it does as I use it more.

Once it does all the maintenance chores all gets settled down and so speed up most things. Prefetch/ superfetch fills up, disks get defragmented, icon and picture caches are written and memory optimizes, Defender checks everything and doesn't do it all over again. Now if some damn update doesn't screw something up (knock on wood) !!!
If you use it and let it stay on first couple of days, things should slide in their place quicker.

I have had 2 BSOD occur this week. I managed to install the debugging tools and get a readout on both of them, but I am not sure how to interpret the results. If someone can help I'd be much obliged. Thanks in advance.

Question: 10 BSODs in a week

Fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit on or about April 1st. Crashes have been happening ever since.

Event ID 41 (which says not much), but Kernal-Power is the source every time.

Potential causes (my guesses):
Incorrect Raid controllers - I had to find new ones compatible with win 7 when I installed fresh.

Radeon 5700 graphics card driver issues, although I loaded the 8.723.0.0 drivers released on 4/28/2010.

Sleep/Hibernation issue. More often than not, I see a "Windows has recovered from an unexpected error" pop-up after I leave it alone for several hours.

Thanks in advance for examining my problem.

A couple of problems
1-sptd.sys
Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads

You can use MagicDisc as an alternative.

Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) Overview

2-Hardware

Most of these were caused by hardware. Please read here and follow the instructions.

Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .. A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint. Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress. You can read more on this error and what to try here... Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try

Hi Vsellar and welcome

these were all caused by your Maxtor one touch driver (mxopswd.sys). I would remove it to test and re-install only if absolutely needed. If you realy need it (I can only guess why) I would get the newest copy directly from Maxtor and install it.

Let us know if you need assistance

Question: BSOD once a week

I am getting BSOD screen once a week ever since I started using my new motherboard a few months ago. It re-boots fine. I bought an ASUS P5Q SE PLUS the BSOD error is:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
The IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error is caused by a buggy device driver or an actual hardware conflict. If you've recently added new hardware to your system, try removing it and see if the error goes away. Likewise, if you've recently loaded a new device driver, you might try using ERD Commander Professional Edition, by Winternals Software, to temporarily disable the new driver and see if the problem goes away.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit. The last hardware and driver I installed was my graphics card ASUS EN9800GT with driver: 8.17.11.9713 which I downloaded from the Nvidia web site.

When I first bought the MB I flashed the BIOS to the latest available ver. 2204 I did a clean install reformatting the hard drive. I then installed all the Win 7 (32bit) drivers available from the ASUS web site (Except for the RAID drivers which I won't use anyway) then I installed the graphics driver.

I contacted ASUS support and they said BSOD screens usually occur with memory issues. They asked me to run a memory diagnostic test (Which I did x2 and it checked out fine using Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool and Memtest86 v. 4.10) They also told me that if the memory test was OK that I could RMA my motherboard.

It doesn't make sense to me to RMA the motherboard if the problem turns out to be ... Read more

Hi, I'm new to the forum but I thought I'd get my problem out here to see if someone can help me. It used to work for me before I reformated my computer.

MB= Intel G965 With LPT Port
CPU= Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
using integrated audio
only pci slot used is Video Card (but in a PCIe slot)

Gateway gt5636e
(with ATI Radeon HD 3650, 2 extra HD's)

My problem is that there is no sound. Updated Drivers are installed and working. I can't play a test tone even. However, Driver Software Installation automatically pops up and tries to find a driver for PCI Simple Communications Controller but always fails when I hit automatic. It's almost like vista thinks their is a sound card in the pci slot. I'm running Windows Vista 64-bit. I've tried disabling Integrated Audio in bios and then reinstalling Drivers then enabling the sound again but to no avail. My next option is to wipe the OS, which I don't want to do. Please help.

Answer:No Sound... Tried all week and still nothing.

Is PCI card comparable to Wds 64 bit vesion...?
It should recognizes and installs the driver automatically or after reboot.....Did you Reboot.....?

Try using either a webscanner:Bit Defender http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.phpPanda Active Scan http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/ac...n/principal.aspTrend Micro http://housecall.trendmicro.com/I think all 3 will remove anything found as well.Or try downloading Sysclean and the virus pattern files and/or download the command line Sophos scanner and web idesOr try using rescueme which has several options. However I would post your hijack this log in the appropriate forum and let a expert look at it.

Depends on how you want to display the Day.You can use a Regular Date Format, on my 2007 the second choice under Date will display the Date as: Wednesday, January 02, 2013If all you want is just the Day of Week, then a Custom Format ofDDD = WedwhileDDDD = WednesdayThere are other ways if these are not suitable.MIKEhttp://www.skeptic.com/

and buy a MAC.

Anyway the new intruder or intruders make two files,
evPvO17M.exe & hki347.exe which bring the computer to
a near standstill as they spawn several copies on boot.
I see many of them running at about 2,000kb in the
Task Manager Processes tab.

Have spent the entire day yesterday on this with no other
result than finding a work around until my anti-virus
folks can make a cleaner to get rid of the mother file
that spawns these critters which so far remains undetectable.

The work around is to go immediately to the Task Manager
Processes tab on startup and remove the files as fast as
possible. It seems that the creation of new ones only
happen at re-boot.

You can find them in the user/local settings/application data
or temp folders, sometimes in both.

I would be interested to know if anyone else has seen this
virus.

Regards,
George

Answer:New Virus(es) this week

Turns out my "work around" didn't work.
Even after removing them from the Processes
tab in the Task Manager, they continue to spawn.

Only thing is to check when the computer
gets unbearably slow and start clicking them off
