I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: how do i delete users

If you mean how you delete an account, log in as admin and delete / change the account. If you are referring to the admin account itself, you must have an admin account. You can change the password as long as you know the admin password. If you do not have the admin password, there are programs that let you reset it to blank. After that you log in and change it however you want. Here is a link to a program that allows you to reset your password.

Question: delete users

I am on the tech support team.  On the computer by my desk I login to over 10 accounts a day to test and make sure the users work.   Is there
a script or some way to delete all the accounts?  Right now I have to right click "computer" / properties / advanced system settings / user profile settings / then delete them all one at a time, and each one take like 30-45 seconds.  I
can delete the user profiles easy, but all the accounts really slow things down.

I have new Vista laptop. I changed the primary Administrator name from ABC to DEF. I also added another Administrator, XYZ. ABC still shows up in c:\users. DEF and XYZ do not (they're in the Control Panel>User Accounts). Before I download any more programs, how do I get ABC files into DEF? how do I get DEF and XYZ into c:\users? Thank you for your help.

Answer:Add and Delete Users

Hello Wemimo, and welcome to Vista Forums.

The only way you can change the C:\Users\(user name) folder name is to create a new account and delete the old one. The Note at the top of this tutorial will help show you how to if needed.

I often make new accounts and then delete them after using it. However, I recently realized that the account folders still appear in C:/Users. What would happen if I delete those folders, it shouldn't change anything should it, I mean I already deleted the account itself.

Edit: I can't delete the folders even if I want to, help please?

I am having problems deleting Users. I have no problems creating a new user. On creation, it appears to also create a folder in C/Users. After I delete a User, I go to C/Users and try to delete the folder from here. I try to delete as an Administrator, but the message "You need permission, and must be an Administrator." comes up every time. It is now getting cluttered, and I am having difficulties knowing which one relates to my current User list. How do I delete the unwanted folders?

Another very recent problem is that it created a "Temporary" user in the C/Users folder, after I tried entering as an old User A/c I hadn't used for some time.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Answer:Windows 7 - Users - To delete

Hello Frank, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You probably got the "Temporary" folder if that user account was corrupted. Did you get this error when you tried to log on to it: Your user profile was not loaded correctly! You have been logged on with a temporary profile.
If you are logged in as an administrator, try opening those use folders and allow yourself acccess when prompted. Afterwards, see if you are able to delete them.

If not, then you may be able to delete the user folders for these deleted user accounts using one of the options in the tutorial below through the command prompt.

Folder - Delete from Command Prompt

Hope this helps,

Hi there - I have a Dell XPS box, and it is locking up.  I've had someone 'look around' in it, and he found a couple of phantom users - they show up as users with really long strings in HKEY-USERS in Regedit, but when I try and delete them, I get a could not delete due to error.
I really need to punt these guys to move on, so I can leave my desktop alone for a while without coming back to find it is so locked tight that I have to hold down the start button to force a restart.

Let me preface by saying that I am fairly computer illiterate.

I run Windows XP. When I initially got my computer, it was shared by several different people, and I set it up with several different users. Now I am the only one who uses this computer, and I'd like to delete the other users. When I try to delete the other users by going through the control panel and following the instructions, everything is fine until I get to the actual "delete this user". When I click on it, it pauses, and nothing happens. When I hit cntrl-alt-del, I get a message that mhsta.exe is not responding. I have googled this, but I am at a loss as how to how to fix this. I have restarted the computer several times (for other reasons), but I am still not able to delete the other users.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Because I am not very good with computers, please explain your suggestions in detail. Thanks!

Somehow I've ended up with two profiles:
C:\Users\Beau Johnson
and
C:\Users\Beauregard Johnson

The C:\Users\Beauregard Johnson does not have a single file in any folder, and has only these folders:

and the Windows Startup Screen says Beau Johnson, not Beauregard Johnson.

I've checked out Control Panel > User Accounts: I looked at "Make changes to my account in PC settings", "Change your account name", "Change your account type", "Manage another account", and "Change User Account Control settings", "Manage your credentials", and "Configure advanced user profile properties" . . .but can't find any way of deleting the Beauregard Johnson account..
"Manage another account" only shows Beau Johnson, which is the one I want to keep.
Is there a way to delete C:\Users\Beauregard Johnson?

Look in the Local Users and Groups section and see if it appears under your list of users where you should be able to right click on it and delete it.

If it is not there you could simply delete the folder from your C:\Users directory. As always make sure you have backups and system restore points set before making any changes.

Hello, I've recently installed windows 8 and during the installation I found out I already made a Microsoft account with my email.
That was no problem, it actually saved me time, so after the installation was finished and windows was set up I opened the windows explorer, where I found out my user folder (in C:/Users) was named sjoer_000. I found it a bit disturbing as it seems windows has made that name up so searched how to change the name (I didn't wanted to break something by changing it manually). The first thing I found didn't work. You had to navigate to the menu you get when you type "lusrmgr.msc" on the startscreen (I think you could access it by pressing win+x+g, then computer management, then system tools and then something like local users and groups). But I couldn't find it and after some searching again I found out it was for Windows 8 Pro only. Great, so that wasn't going to work. Another thing with regedit didn't work too probably because of the same reason; the standard versions lacks the feature.

So what I tried after that was creating a new user account with the good name (I think it was a local account) and then I lost my original account and tried restored it with some backup from WinTransfer, but cancelled it somewhere in the process. I also made a Microsoft account with a different email (it might have been the same email, I don't remember).

I did some other things, not sure what, and all that created a big mess. Now I finally have my normal... Read more

In the process, folders and files that were on our mutual desktop in 98SE were duplicated onto each of our individual user desktops. When either of us attempts to delete the other's files from our own desktop, the file is deleted from *both* desktops. Can anyone explain how to accomplish these deletions from one account only?? Answer:unknown xp users, safe to delete?

I'd say you definitely can safely delete the HelpAssistant and Support accounts. Those accounts are completely useless garbage unless you use the built in MS support service or remote assistance which I would stay away from anyway. Some built in accounts it won't let you delete them. But thoe two you can definitely delete and in fact I would recommend you get rid of them.

It is astounding to me that Microsoft would not allow users to delete a user picture, if the user didn't want one at the logon screen.

What possible reason is there to disallow deleting the picture. I know you can create a blank jpg, use a different picture, but why not just eliminate the user picture. A choice to get rid of that bad decision some of us make in testing and trying things is just too puzzling to let go.

You need to confirm this Operation. > Clicked Continue.

Im using my Desktop, Windows 7, my working machine.
I had to use a software called Hotspot Shield, as you know it is a VPN.
All right, it was everything fine, I was being able to get along with it nicely till I restarted my PC.
The first thing I noticed is that he asked me to log in my admin user, wich I tought very strange since I don't have any other user to log on.
I got myself worried and when I checked the Users, nothing, it was empty, but then checking the Parental Control ( My windows is a portuguese version so I don't know the exaclty translation, it is a guess) I found some users in there, protected by password wich I actually can't delete!
The users are:
Fbwuser0668
Fbwuser5CD2
Fbwuser8613
and there is this other user that I've never meet before:
UptatusUser
so my problem is:
I don't want my Windows to ask me start up on my admin account, I want him to start directly without ask for it.
I don't know if this users can do any bad to me, but I'm afrraid of it, so... Delete em.
From now on, thanks you guys!

Hi Folks ! I hope someone can help before I chucked this computer out the window. Excuse my tone but this is very frustrating.

It has been a month now since installing Windows 7. Everything appears to be fine except this " access denied " errors on some of the files for certain users. I finally managed to turn on the hidden " administrator " feature in command prompt to unlock some.

What's the problem ?? Aside from the design of users potentially " locking " themselves out of their own documents ( because of they are not logged in as an Admin, even though they have all admin privileges. I was going around in circles giving each other permission when the real admin was never enabled. Now its effecting the programs and installation. For example, if Daddy logs on and try to install a program that requires a command prompt, I can't because I did not log in as an Admin.

It is very frustrating. Now we have 3 separate users, each with their own documents, programs, and desktop settings.

My question is... I WANT TO DELETE ALL USERS AND COMBINE ALL THE DOCS, PROGRAMS, ETC. INTO ONE EASY ACCESS AND ONE USER. NO PASSWORDS, NOTHING. SO AS SOON THE COMPUTER BOOTS UP WINDOWS, IT SHOULD READY TO GO, EVERYTHING.

COULD SOMEONE PLEASE SHOW ME HOW???

THANK YOU!

ALEX

On several of the computers at work, I am running out of hard disk space. The culprit seems to be the Temp folders in Local Settings. Some of these computers may have up to 50 user profiles.
I'd like to be able to delete the files in the C:\Documents and Settings\xxx\Local Settings\Temp folder on an XP machine, where xxx is the user name. I was hoping to use wildcards to target the user as all of the users that I am concerned with have a similar beginning (same numbers)to their user name
If possible I'd like to run a batch file on startup or shut down instead of pushing out a script on a routine basis. I was also worried about erroring out if the folder did not exist for a particular user. I believe I would need to unhide the folder as well.

thanks

Greetings,

We have a full VDI environment. Is there a way to disable the delete function altogether? In other words, we don't want users to be able to delete their own files or folders.

Answer:How to disable entire delete function in Windows for users?

It would be difficult --

When you change a file, the changes are usually stored in a temporary file. When you save, the original is deleted and the temporary file is copied to the original file location. Preventing them from deleting could inadvertently prevent them from modifying their data?

I can't seem to find the actual files (even with hidden files being shown), and when i delete the individual folders within this folder it only deletes a few Mb. When i delete the Microsoft folder it will delete the full 30gb (i've always restored it because im not sure if its okay to delete). I wouldn't delete that folder. CCleaner will clear out the temporary and cached files that are taking up most of that storage space without removing important files. I've used it for years without issues.

Hi,

I have a multi-users win7 (64bits) system, with one Administrator priviledge accounts, the others being non-admin.
Disk is partition with system on C and data on D and E.

All users can access to D and E.

How to enforce security properties so that delete file or folder on D or E must prompt for admin password? I see that I can totally prevent DELETE, but I just want to permit delete, when user successfully entered admin pwd on prompt.

If I right-click on D:
Then properties and view security tab, I see 4 groups:
* Authentified users
* System
* the admin account
* users (the admin account as user)

Thanks

Answer:How to enforce a delete admin pwd prompt request on multi-users sys?

Remove the group named "Authenticated Users".

I would suggest that you test this on a test folder as a quick test to see if this does what you really want. If you do this to the root of a drive, you will not see the option "Include inheritable permissions...."

The user at the start of this video is an admin account named "username" (without a password). Once the standard user logs on, you will see the popup asking for that admin account password.

Hi,

I have deleted their account from Active Directory and have then tried to delete their profile from the roaming profiles folder. Hi
We have windows 2008 r2 domain controller and Windows 7 Pro clients. There is a requirement that user perform some run on software and software generate test file / result which are save on local D drive, now we need to assign permission that
domain users can read. write, modify, create new files/folder on d drive but do not rename or delete files/folders. For that i set following permission on d drive:
Full control for domain admin, local administrator, system
for domain users allow modify, deny delete and delete subfolder and files
Owner of the d drive is domain administrator
After that user can read files but at the time of saving files the error is "you dont have suffieceint permission to modify files on this location" and o kb file created but if user try to save second time than the file will save on that same location
So  user need to save files two time and one file created with 0 kb.
Please suggest a solution. Thank you.

For reasons not necessary for this issue, I saved a few "My Documents" files from another person's XP compute to a backup drive on my Vista Hm Premium PC.  Now, even though I have Administrator status, I can not delete these documents.  I've googled and searched, but have come up dry.  Each time I try to delete, I'm prompted to elevate the action to Administrator status, which I do, but it still doesn't work.  Any suggestions out there?

Answer:How do I delete "My Documents" files from other Users moved to a different PC?

I am the only user of my computer, so I want to know if I can change the settings so that there is only an administrator account and not an "all users"... Specifically what I am refering to is the start menu.... when I want to make adjustments to the start menu (start/properties/classic view/customize/advanced) I dont' want to keep having to move things from the "all users" account into the "admin" account.... Is there some way to delete the "all users"?
I've tried going to control panel/user accounts, but it only shows the admin account and a guest account, and the guest account is not activated.

Answer:Can I delete the "all users" account in win XP pro?

There is no account called "All Users". "All users" means all users, literally. If the only account on your computer is administrator then all users effectivley is the admin.

Answer:How Delete an Old "Users" Folders

Hi, here's the 'correct' way to move the users profile:
Users Folder - Move Location in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

(See method 2).

However you have already made a number of changes, so you would not be able to apply that immediately. This could make life difficult.

You are correct that an in-place upgrade repair attempt where such folders have been relocated will fail in that obscure and non-indicative way.

It won't be the simple existence of the folder on E: that is the problem, but probably remaining registry issues relating to this. Deleting the folder would be the trivial part - e.g. boot to a command prompt outside Windows.

Hey Guys,

If you are using Kaspersky on Windows XP, and your Blue Shift is not working, I may have a solution for you. If you go into Kapersky, go to My Security Zone and then application activity. Go to Category and then click all. Scroll down until you find everything to do with Blue Shift ( Half Life Launcher, installation etc). Right click on each of these and change the status to Trusted. The game should work now. I hope this helps I've had the problem for a while and it was driving me nuts. I'd also like to thank the user "fragger" for giving me the idea to look at Kaspersky. If your reading this, hope it helps you out buddy.

I'd also like to add the game only works when I have Safari open. Absolutely no idea why, but this seems to be a requirement.

Can anyone help me regain Security Permissions to C:\Users\All Users\Application Data Folder which I lost while looking at the access rights. I mistakenly closed the box while playing with the access rights and lost any access to the file.
I pulled the access rights to the file using icacls they are below.

application data
D:PAI(D;OICI;FA;;;WD)(A;;0x1200a9;;;WD)(A;OICI;FA;;;SY)(A;OICI;FA;;;BA)S:AI

I am thinking I can change the information in the file and restore it. Not sure exactly what to change?

I was also thinking I could pull the info from another computer running with the same operating system and reapply them to this file? Would this work?

I looked at Previous Versions of the upper level folder. Can I restore a previous version of this whole folder? Will it restore the Application Data folder with the prior permissions?

Answer:Lost Access Permissions to C:\Users\All Users\Application Data Folder

Are you asking about the Application Data or Appdata folder?

If Application Data, this is not a real folder but a junction used to allow interface with legacy programs. No access is necessary since it is pointing to the Appdata folder.

hi guys,

really need some help on this one cause i cant seem to get how something that sounds so simple is so hard to do.

i got a client with a workstation that has a local user account on it.
they also have a domain which he has another account on there.

so i have local account joe1 and domain account joe2. now i need to get joe 1 to combind and merge outlook and my docs with joe2. and then get joe2 to stay on the server so that it remains a account that can be accesses on any computer on the domain network. with this in mind the user profile needs to be saved on the server and the profile can be copied to the computer that his sitting at when he loggs on.

anyway i can figure out how to move the local (joe1) account to the server (joe2)i have tried a command moveuser but i keep getting a parameter error on there (error 87) .

i typed it like this

moveuser joe1 (company doamin)\joe2 /c:\\(client machine)

User 1 logs in and works does whatever... Doesn't log out but screensaver goes back to user screen.

User 2 logs in (switching users - not logging out user 1) and gets to work.

Sometime later (ie. not right away) and not at a prescribed time, the network stops working.

I try to disable / enable the network adapter and the machine freezes.   Reboot fixes problem.

If user 1 or user 2 is the only one logged in then never a problem.

Anyone heard of this?
Thanks for any help!

Answer:Multiple Windows 7 Users-Switch between Users-network stops working

When switching users, it's always a good idea to have User 1 close out any applications and documents they have open and then log out before User 2 logs in. It sounds like you have fast user switching enabled, but I'm not aware of that causing any network issues -- unless User 1 was doing something that required a network connect.

Check the Event Viewer for error logs from the time it froze when you tried to disable and enable the network adapter. Post the event ID and description here if you need help diagnosing the issue from the log files. Perhaps another fix is to disable fast user switching, so that users are always forced to log out before someone else can log in.

How can I setup 2 networks so that my wireless users can't access wired users?

All of my computers are wired... but, I would like to give my retired neighbor (he's 64 years old) wireless access. But, I don't want him or anyone else access to my shared files b/w desktop/laptop. So, should I put it on a different subnet? Do I need a 2nd router? Right now, I have the BEFSR41 with a WAP11 AP on 192.168.1.245 with the router on 192.168.1.1 (both are 255.255.255.0 subnet).

Thanks!

Answer:How can I setup 2 networks so that my wireless users can't access wired users?

I would setup a DMZ, you can do this by using two physical routers or something like smooth wall with multiple nics. If I were you I would setup smooth wall on a crap old box and install 3 network cards into the old computer. Hooking your cable modem to one of the network cards in the smoothwall box will be like pluggin in your cable modem to the wan port on the back of your router. I would plug your wireless router into to the next nic on your smooth wall box. If your neighbor is the only one using the wireless do the following. Enable WEP, don't broadcast your ssid, filter by mac address, and limit the total number of connections to 1. That should keep your wireless rather secure. With the final network card in the smooth wall box attach either a standard switch or even another router. Smooth wall has built in DHCP support and it will allow you to set a range of ips.Hard wire all your home computer to the switch and your in business.

Hi everyone,

I am the web masters of a local snowmobile club and our new website is having a few problems with printing. Please take a look at the site, http://www.strathroysnoblizzards.com/Strathroy_Sno-Blizzards/index.html

As you can see it has a black background which when printed on my Mac OS X has no problems with printing (it leaves out black background and keeps the text and images) and prints everything.

The problem is that one of our members are ticked that they can not print the site because of the black showing up above the text and images and I really don't want to change the background because it look good the way it is, so is there any way to change to printer settings or some ideas for him to help him out with this problem.

Second problem is that out of 4 pages, 2 are blank with nothing on it and there is suppose to be text and images on those pages, anyway how to fix this too?

Thanks Guys

Answer:Website printing??? (backgrounds causing problems with PC users but not Mac users)

I only have one suggestion. Do they have this unchecked?
Print background colors and images.

IE->Tools->Internet Options->Advance Tab-> scroll down
to the Printing headline. Make sure it is unchecked.

working with vista homeprem sp2 32bit here. ran a quick avast scan a few minutes ago, it caught some small-time junk in the temporary internet files (which were purged easily enough), but it also pointed out C:\users\all users as "the system cannot find the path specified". so I open up windows explorer and try to go there. cue the "refers to a location that is unavailable" error message. now, I don't usually need to prod around in there so I'm not familiar with what normally happens, but I know vista loves to have a bunch of directories displayed that are shortcuts it uses for people who leave "hide protected OS files" checked (I don't, I want to see what's where) which really ought to not be shown when you're not hiding stuff but I digress, that's for MS to be groused at after win8 flops.

SO. should I panic that I've had another thing sneak past the security screens (mvp hosts file, spyware blaster, avast's shields, mbam scans)? nothing else seems out of sorts, but one man's paranoia is another man's preparation, and all.

Answer:C:\Users\All Users refers to a location that is unavailable *error message*

This is normal. All users folder points to c:\programdata folder. These are called symbolic links.

I don't remember when, but I availed myself of the free Windows 10 upgrade sometime back. I was using 8.1 and I had, at some point, moved C:\Users and all its associated folders to E:. Everything has worked fine and Win10 didn't have a problem. I did notice that there was still a C:\Users, but the only folder it contains is Administrator.

This was probably not a good move to make. Moving data folders, like Pictures, Documents, etc., is fine, but moving the actual User Profiles was not such a good idea. My E: drive is no longer large enough to hold all my photos and other data. I bought a replacement drive large enough, but having my Users Profiles on E: is now a problem and I want to move them back to C:, only without the data folders.

I can delete all the existing data files from those default folders (I have backed them all up), so now I need to find a way to restore the Users folder and contents to C:. I've tried researching the problem, but found nothing that specifically applies to my situation. The TenForums article, "Relocating Users folder on an existing Windows installation" Seems to be as close as I can get. Unfortunately, this part has made me take pause and ask you all for help:

Do you know what I should do? Maybe Kari's still around and can reply? Any guidance would be appreciated.

If you used the Sysprep method to relocate the Users folder to E: drive, you can use the same method to relocate it back to C: drive. The warning you quoted is when doing this in a clean install, it does not apply when moving Users folder back to C: drive which will always be accepted and OK for Windows.

Follow these simple steps (looks more complicated than it in reality is!):

Create a new, temporary local user account, name it as you wish like "Dummy" or such (tutorial)Change Dummy's account type to administrator (tutorial)Sign out from all other user accounts, sign in to DummyDisable all other user accounts except Dummy, the one you are currently signed in (tutorial). No worries, accounts and their data will remain intact, deactivating (disabling) them temporarily is done because sometimes Sysprep causes existing user accounts to lose Start and Search / Cortana functionality. When we are ready we will again activate (enable) all old user accountsWhen done, open an elevated Notepad (right click and select Run as Administrator) copy the following code and paste it to a new text document]:

Code:

What is the best way to share execution priviledges between limited users, power users, and administrators?

Say an application has already been installed by a higher priviledged user type, and a limited user cannot execute it - e.g. an ISP login software, or Spy Sweeper. Note: ISP login software lacks profile, so I suppose I could just create that, however, Spy Sweeper is a head scratcher.

Should the application be uninstalled and reinstall under All Users? How do you install an application to allow All Users to use it?

I have already tried to use the "Run As" right-click Properties w/Shift key approach and that does not work.

Is there an approach with regard to local security policy that would do what I want to do? How is that done? Or, is Access Control List the way to go?

As Administrator, I?ve created my own folders for my documents. These are located in the D: partition of my hard drive; and they are shown in the Library section of the contents of the computer, on the left.
Now, when opening the computer from the Guest Account, my own folders do not appear in the Library, all right. But just below the Library there appears the rest of the computer content, including the D: partition, and any Guest can access all the folders and files there, including my documents.
How can I hide the folders of each User from any other Guests, not only in the Library but also in their actual location in the hard drives?
Thanks for any help.
ACA

Answer:Hiding Users' files from Guest Users

OK this appears to be a simple permissions issue.

go to your root folder on the D: drive and right click the folder and select properties.

on the security tab you should see a list of those who have access to the folder - Make sure that your user has full rights and remove all rights to the "everyone" user group. This when OK'd should xascade down to all files and folders contained in the folder

If you wish you can adjust the rights available to any other particular user on the system - Make sure that you do not remove or change any rights given to system or administrative users unless you fully understand the result

Run DIR cmd for C:\users and All Users does not show
Run ATTRIB -s -h C:\users and still do not see All User folder appearing. Restart after running ATTRIB cmd, but does not trigger reload of folder.

BUT, when I
Run DIR cmd for "C:\users\all users" the folder and files show
Run ROBOCOPY and the All Users folder and its files transfer.

Somehow this folder has become hidden and I am unable to unhide or see it.

Any suggestions?

Answer:Unable to see folder C:\users\all users

Windows does not have a folder All users. It is a link to C:\ProgramData folder, in other words when you run command DIR "C:\Users\All Users", it lists the content of folder C:\ProgramData.

I want to create an environment where each user only can see and manipulate those files and folders they create/own. Other than that the data drive would empty.

If this is something you know about or dealt with I would very much like to hear your thoughts and a concrete and simple way to accomplish this.

Again, thanks
Jerry

I am cleaning a laptop out and i created a brand new user name. I deleted the other 2 users using the control passwords2.

So the machine starts and i select the user. Process usage is very high and it says 50, but actual user shows about 9. I click show processes from all users and i find the culprit as well as 50 processes. I deleted the users so there shouldnt be that option.

Why is there more processes if this is the only user, why does it even have the option?

Answer:Show processes from all users, with no other users

All users includes not only other users, if any but the System as well.

Anyone who uses/has-used PC-cillin ... well more to the point, does anyone like this program?

I bought it for "fun", before trying it (smart, I know!)...but it is extremely annoying in so many ways.

It warns you about everything. Granted, that sounds good, but--just browsing the net, it will find dozens of "spyware/ad sites" (and it has always been right thus far), but they are iframes, popups etc. They are everywhere--and a warning for each one!

"Venus spy-trap" they call it. I thought that was funny in itself But really, the one thing on there that is just a PITA: I added two domains to my hosts file, and there is no way to "allow" the changes permanently--upon reopening the browser, their warnings come back. Of course, you could disable the monitoring of the file, but then what is the purpose!

Lastly (thus far), I get meeting notices via Outlook / Lotus Notes. They say these emails are *viruses* because they're in an unusual format! Better yet: the fix...well, you should check it out!

You edit the registry to fix something so stupid...

Ok, end of rant (sorry), but I really am curious--those of you who use this, why?

I am running W10 Pro x64 1511.

The laptop came with a default account for USER, so the underlying subfolders of Users are in users\USER\.
For various reasons I wanted to have them under my name i.e., users\FP\. So I added another admin user FP with which I login. However, no users\FP\ folder was created and the information is still stored in users\USER\.

Any idea why and how I could get the system to create the FP users folder and store the information there?

Thanks.

I have a buncha users that I have as power users, since the software we use will not work as a normal user... problem is, they can install stuff on the local machine that way. How can I have ONE program run as a poweruser/admin/whatever, but have the rest of the system as a restricted user??

Thanks for your time,
QJ

Answer:Want to block users from being power users...

What's up Qwerty.

In XP, you can choose to run a program as a different user. Right-click the shortcut, select Advanced, then check "Run with different credentials". When you execute the program, it will prompt which user to run it as. You may have to read up on how to make it not prompt for a password each time.

MSDN has an in-depth article on the subject.

Using win10 - 64bit
Logged into cmd prompt as admin.
Cannot see C:\users\all users with the following cmd's

Folder does not show in normal File Explorer window
Run TREE cmd and the All Users folder does not show.

I posted this message in the W95/98/ME fourm, but this seems like the more appropriate place for the question:

I work for a company that has a small network consisting of one NT 4.0 Server box and around 40-60 client computers, mostly running W95 with a few running W98/2000/ME. Anyway, two managers here have W98 machines, and periodically after they have logged into the network and used different mapped network drives all of a sudden they can't access any mapped drives and they appear to be disconnected from the network (well, they are, as they can't do anything network related). The network is your basic ethernet using simple UTP cabling and hubs. The cabling appears to be plugged in properly, especially since they can log in and be connected to the network for a period of time. Rebooting solves the problem, but that isn't acceptable to my managers, so I have to figure out a way to get it so they don't get kicked off (besides just giving them W95). I have done a lot of research by myself on this, but I can't find any answers....if anyone has any ideas I'll be grateful, and will consider naming one of my future children after you. If you need more info, I'll be checking this board tomorrow throughout work, and will be more than happy to provide you with any other info you need. Thanks

Under Windows 2000, when I reformat the computer, I add administrator user as a network user in the install process. Then, I go in and add local users to the computer. Later on when I want to add network users, it won't let me, the computer just hangs. Any ideas?

Answer:Can't add network users after add local users

Not much information to go on here, but are you signed on as a network admin when you are trying to add the network users?

When you say you add the administrator user as a network user, what are you referring to? Are you adding the Network Administrator account to the local PC?

Why are there 56 temp users in my Users folder? They don't appear in the regular Windows' User Accounts, so I can't delete them there. Should I just delete all these folders?

Hello,
I come across an issue. I have some powershell scripts in a folder. My demand is that i'd like to share it with remote domain users. But i don't want them to check the content inside.
So, when i set the NTFS permission for the users,  I removed the read permission only retained 'Traverse folder/execute file" permission
and "list folder/read data" permission. however, the remote users could access the folder remotely but failed to see any scripts inside the folder. just looks like the the folder is empty.
My questions is if my requirement is viable with NTFS permission.

My father replaced his Windows 98 machine with a new computer running Windows 7. He's currently on 32-bit ultimate, but we could change versions if needed.

He's really hoping there's some way to force Windows 7 into a single user mode, primarily so C:\users\All Users, Default User, Public, and his own user are merged into one. It's absolutely driving him nuts the way it is.

I've done quite a bit of searching and have came up empty. Before I said it couldn't be done, I'm wondering if anyone's heard of a way to do this.

Answer:Win 7 single user, merging users\All Users, Default User, Public, etc?

Just curious, but why does this annoy him so much? Surely it's not that complicated a system and all of his documents etc are stored in the same place, with more or less easy to use shortcuts to these directories placed throughout Windows 7?

I have a few Temp logons recently, and then had to copy my profile over to a new user account. Creation of the new user account seems to have gone pretty well, once I signed into my Microsoft account, everything associated with it is as it should be.

However, there a few of the older "Users" listed under This PC, which are not shown at the manage accounts page. Is there a simple way to delete the old accounts that are not in use. Deleting hem from file explorer did not work. Thanks.
