Get Application error every time I try to print, regardless of which program I use

Question: Get Application error every time I try to print, regardless of which program I use

Every single time I try to print something, I get a white error box that says WordPad, AOL, NotePad, Paint, (or which ever program I try - it happens with all programs ) has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Error signature:
AppName: wordpad.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.1106 ModName: hpzntp07.dll
ModVer: 2.140.0.0 Offset: 00026403

Can someone please help me asap? I cant print anything at all because of this. I have a Dell, WinXP.
Thank you

Preferred Solution: Get Application error every time I try to print, regardless of which program I use

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Get Application error every time I try to print, regardless of which program I use

Which HP printer are you using?

If Windows XP detected and used its own drivers, you should download the up-to-date drivers. (hpzntp07.dll is a HP driver)

Hi all,

I'm having a rather strange issue that I haven't been able to trace, mostly because although the error itself makes sense to me, I have no idea what it means.

I'm using Windows XP pro, 32 bit with service pack 3 on an HP 8510W notebook. Recently I noticed that every time I closed a program, or a program exited properly, I received an error that looked something like this.

notepad.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x00bb1f3e" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program

iexplore.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x03051f3e" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program

taskmgr.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x009c1f3e" referenced memory at "0x00000004". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
And so on, with everything from Reaper to firefox to Task Manager. I've also noticed two other things, which are:
A. this error never occurs if I manually end the task from within task manager or tskill, only when the program legitimately exits.
B. The first hex value always changes, but the second value, the memory being referenced, always stays the same.

This windows install has had some issues in the past anyway, and I'm two steps from installing windows 7 on this thing as it is. The on... Read more

Answer:Application error every time a program closes

1) Install Windows 7 if compatible. 2) Is this the same machine that was infected with malware?"THe only thing stopping me is a lack of knowledge about how to install windows while preserving documents and data from the old windows install, since I currently do not own a working external drive."If there is no external media to save the data to, this may present an issue: There may be a workaround, but this may also be forthcoming....One could (I suppose) create a partition on the HDD to house the data. Use the other partition to install Windows; then access the "backup" partition affterward.I would suggest imaging the HDD before continuing this journey. One never knows; I have seen a lot of strange things and it is allways recomended to have a quick mulligan on hand.

I've had an ongoing problem with application errors that say the following:

<app name.exe> - Application Error
The instruction at "0x036...." referenced memory at "0x00000ba0". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program.

I've run HJT before and others couldn't find anything. I've significantly cleaned up my PC, currently uninstalled about 4-5 different spyware/adware programs (at the instruction of a MS tech support person who's trying to help me integrate SP2 back into my c:/ with no luck ). But, someone on the XP forum suggested I run HJT again and copy the log so here it is. If anyone has any other ideas I'm open to listening. I get this error message when exiting out of almost every application or browser I have. Can't seem to figure this one out. Thanks!

I don't see major here...Did you install anything before this happened? Perhaps IE 7.0?

Go to Start->Run and type in sfc /scannow and hit OK. Let it scan. If it finds any files missing/corrupted, it may ask for the Windows CD.

Download LSPFix http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/LSPFix.exe and run it. Check the box that says 'I know what I'm doing'. Click on inetcntrl.dll on the left window and then click on the arrow pointing to the right. Click Finish and follow the prompts.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

Answer:Error Pop Up Each Time Opening A Application

Hello ah_wei and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I don't see any signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean. It appears that there are multiple anti-virus applications running on this computer (Kapersky and AVG). Running more than 1 anti-virus application at the same time can cause file access and resource issues and if there is an infection the multiple programs can actually block each other from dealing with the infected file(s). I highly recommend that you choose which application you want to keep and uninstall the other one(s) to prevent these problems. The HijackThis forum deals exclusively with virus and malware issues. HijackThis does not have the capability to analyze performance, hardware or application issues. For these types of issues I would suggest posting to the Windows XP Home and Professional forum. The techs in that forum specialize in matters pertaining to the operating system, performance and applications. Let them know that you have been to this forum and that no malware was found. When posting to any other forum, do not post a HijackThis log or the post will simply be moved back to this forum for infection analysis. That is what HijackThis is used for and that is what we specialize in here in this forum. Also, when posting in any other forum for assistance, give as much detail as possible regarding any issues that are occurring. The more information they have, the better the techs can analyze the issue and make any recommendations for resolving it... Read more

I took the upgrade path from Build 10122 to 10130, but every time I shut down, I get this application error message after the desktop closes. I have to click OK to terminate the program to shut the machine down.

This is the first time I've seen this error, and I'm looking to see if anyone is familiar with this and if there is a fix I can make to correct it.

Answer:Explorer.exe - Application Error every time I shut down

That may be one of the problems, with NOT doing a Clean Install. (corrupted files)

So you can always try downloading the ISO, burning a DVD and then doing a Clean Install.
Well, that's what I'd do anyway. Heck, that's what I always do, and so far, since January, I've not had any problems with any of the Windows 10 builds, from 9926 to 10135.

After a Clean install, if you have any problems, it's usually some little bit that got miss-read during the install. So you just reformat and install again and that usually fixes things.

Good Luck!

I'm having the same problem. I have to reboot each time the ccApp.exe application error comes up. Like for you it blocks Outlook's send/receive.Originally I thought the problem was due to a conflict between NIS and Spybot. Because I believe that viruses are more dangerous than spyware, and NIS includes antispyware, I decided to uninstall Spybot. It had no effect.I called Norton Symantec about the problem and the tech insisted it was due to a virus. He said it would cost $99 to have the antivirus team remove it. In response to my comment that I thought it was wrong for Norton Symantec to charge for a virus that their own program missed, they said no program is 100% effective at catching viruses. I believed this argument and decided to pay the fee for all the trouble it would cost me. I spent hours on the phone, repeated telling the same problem many times to many techs over several days, ran antivirus scans from online and from my computer, there were no viruses, cleaned out temp file, unloaded and reloaded NIS 2006, they bothched up intenal communication records, gave me erroneous instructions that they had to correct, and in the end said they had exhaused their solutions, would research it and call me back in 48 hours. They never did. An email to the supervisor resulted in no response. I lost $99 and all the time spent following instructions they read from decision tree manuals.I believe this problem has a simple solution for someone who is computer savvy. Because the proble... Answer:"Reboot each time the ccApp.exe application error comes up."

The best way to eliminate problems with Norton, is to use the removal tool, ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_...a/removal_toolsthere are two listed, use the one for your OS. Once this has been run, restart the computer and use a different anti virus here is a list of what I consider to be the best: Nod32, Kapersky, Panda, Trend Micro, F Secure, Avast Free, AVG Free, Avira Free, Bitdefender, I am sure that I will miss some. Norton does not play well with others, and is becoming a pain in the arse for many people., thanks, DC3, I agree, this also includes McAfee. FWIW, the most infected machines that I get at my shop always seem to be using Norton or McAfee.

Every web site I try to navigate through freezes within 10-20 seconds and shows an end program message. Sometimes I even get this message when I try to shut down. I cannot even write this from my own computer as the web site blocks! Event Viewer shows long lists of Application Hang errors, none for Internet Explorer. I?m using IE 7, Windows XP Professional,2002, Service pack 2.

Answer:application hang end program error

Ok first im gunna need to check how much RAM you have left avaliable do this by:
1. Go to Start and click Run
2. Type "dxdiag" and click OK
3. Click the Save ALL Information
4. On this forum you'll need to upload the file as a attachment. The file will probably be saved to your desktop and will be named "DxDiag.txt".

I was able to fix my system restore by opening command and doing a 'SFC /SCANNOW' scan. I was wondering if there is anythig else I can type in command to hopefully fix the other two programs? Or are there any other solutions to this problem?

I just formatted the hard drive and installed the OS. Downloaded the printer driver from Canon's website and installed it. I'm able to print a test page and align the printer heads, but when I try to print from any application, it comes back with this message:

"An error occurred during this operation"

I hit OK and then it closes. No print dialogue box.

Everything is fine in device manager.

Ideas?

I have a Y700-34ISH Desktop (ideacentre) - Type 90DF00B2MW, and the "Driver and Installation Application" program is installed. When I clicked on the driver menu it showed a bunch of items, which I went ahead and installed. It asked me to restart the PC, but after I did the items are still showing.

1. What is happening?
2. What are the benefits of this program?
3. Is it ok to uninstall it if I don't want those benefits?

EDIT: It seems like this program "updated" several drivers to older versions. At least that happened with Geforce, and I also had to reassign my headset as the preferred output in the sound settings.

Confusing stuff like this doesn't make one happy after spending $1500 on a new PC.

Mod's Edit: System model added to the front of Subject line to improve visibility / clarity.

I am continually getting the error "Run Time error 1004: Application defined or object defined error," each time a user clicks one of the cells within this excel file. It comes up as apparently a visual basic error. I've search other sites and unfortunately do not know enough about macros or excel formulas to know what to do next, so I thought I would post about it here. One user apparently has no trouble opening it while every other user has the same issue. Here is the debug code:

Private Sub Worksheet_Deactivate()

End Sub

Sub Worksheet_SelectionChange(ByVal Target As Excel.Range)
Cells.Interior.ColorIndex = -4142
Target.EntireRow.Interior.ColorIndex = 8
Target.EntireColumn.Interior.ColorIndex = 8
End Sub

The "Cells.Interior.ColorIndex = -4142" portion is highlighted in yellow, so I assume that's where the error is. From there, I'm not sure what to do to change it. Please let me know as soon as possible what direction I should take.

Thanks

Answer:run time error 1004 application defined or object defined error

To be honest...I would assume that the file is corrupt and try to replace it. All seemingly meaningful links on this error involve VBA coding and things that can go wrong with it...way overhead my head and out of my interest arena .

If it truly is a coding error (as seems implied), I would take it to the originator of that file, since it throws an error.

Very strange that e pluribus unum...manages to use it without problems .

Answer:run time error when installing program - cannot import DLL??

Are you running the installation file straight from the internet or are you saving the file to your PC and then run it directly from your hard disk? Try saving the file first by right clicking the link and choosing "Save Target As" and select your save location. After downloading try clicking on the newly saved file. Also disable your anti-virus software since it appears to think the file is malicious.

Hello tialaree3, and  to Bleeping Computer!  We need to scan your computer with the Windows System File Checker:
The sfc /scannow command (System File Checker) scans the integrity of all protected Windows system files and replaces corrupted, modified, or incorrect versions with the correct versions if possible.Note: Be aware that if you have modified your system files as in theming explorer/system files, running sfc /scannow will revert the system files such as explorer.exe back to it's default state.Note: Make the appropriate backups of your system files that you have modified for theming if you wish to save them before running sfc /scannow.For Windows Vista / 7:
Click the Windows Start Orb in the bottom-left
In the search box, type cmd
Right-click on the search result cmd.exe then click Run as Administrator
Next:
Copy and paste the following line of text into the black box:note: to paste, right-click in the black box and choose Paste
sfc /scannow

Press Enter to run the commandnote: this scan may take a while to finish, and if SFC reports that it could not fix something, run the command again to see if it may be able to the next time. Sometimes it may take running the sfc /scannow command 3 or more times to completely fix everything that it is able to.
We need to retrieve the System File Checker log:
Click the Windows Start Orb in the bottom-left

Recently, I have been getting an odd pop-up error anytime I open a program. The box appears with (for example) "firefox.exe - Bad Image" in the title bar, followed by the following message: "C:\PROGRA-1\Google\GOOGLE-3\GO36F4-1.DLL is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support." This happens anytime a new program or service is started (I see one right before I enter my login password, at least 10 of these once I have logged on). However, except for the annoying pop ups, the computer and whatever I try to run (so far, anyway) works normally. The program I am trying to open runs once the pop up is closed. AVG and sfc have found nothing (The file name being mentioned makes me suspect some form of malware that AVG can't catch), and I'm open to suggestions.I'd like to send whatever this is packing, and a big thank you in advance to whoever can point me in the right direction. Here are my DDS (I saw at least 50 of those "Bad Image" errors during the DDS scan, which was otherwise successfully completed) and GMER logs, in that order: (I'll gladly provide any other information that I can if needed).DDS (Ver_11-03-05.01) - NTFSx86 Run by Tony at 12:52:19.49 on Sat 05/07/2011Internet Explorer: 9.0.8112.16421Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 6.1.7600.0.1252.1... C:\Windows\System32\ctl3dv232.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact you system administrator or the software vendor for support.

this has been happening for a couple of days now, i started when norton sercurity detected a trojan horse. it seemed to delete it (im not 100% sure) but every since then i have been getting this message. it even appears before the log in screen on vista, and as i turn off my computer.

i read a little bit on the internet and thought that norton could have damaged some of the files on my computer. i downloaded CCleaner to clean the registry integrity, which includes missing dll files, but nothing has changed. my computer came preinstalled with vista, so i dont have a disc to insert and try and restore any damaged files(if thats what happened).

i would greatly appreciate any help as to what is causing this and how to solve it.

This may go along with the other post I started here and it may not. That is where you come in.

The company I just started working for is using a program that uses a Access Database with all of the info in it. This program was written in what I believe is Crystal language according to what I have gathered from doc types. It gives reports in .rpt format and I saw something else that said Crystal and so I looked it up and it was a language. The doc type is also a crystal report doc type apparently.

This program accesses the database and brings up model numbers and info about it. Now, normally we can put in these 3 fields needed and hit add to batch, then print batch and it will print. Something happened where now if we do it, once we hit print I get,

"Runtime error 3421- Data Type Conversion Error"

Apparently before the error this time, they would enter a letter or something instead of a number and it would give an error message. It would still show up in the access report though. Then my boss would go into the database and delete the bad entries and apparently it would work again.

Now we are having an issue where we get this error no matter what. They put in the same 3 fields as numbers and this error pops up. I cannot figure out why it is doing this and the program is basically useless right now. These entries are not showing up in the database either. We deleted all of the old entries that were made into the database and nothing... Read more

Answer:Run time error 3421 when using program that uses Access Database

WELL I FIXED IT! It was indeed an issue where an extra letter not a number got typed into a quantity field. Instead of being "6" it was "6B". I deleted the B and everything started working. I can't believe it was that easy. The reason I didn't catch it earlier was because it was in a completely different file than the one it uses to pull the information from. Apparently my boss didn't know that or whatever I am not sure. The program was open and so the access file was locked but I saw another access file was also locked. So I decided to see what that file was and I noticed the lookups in a table that we were trying to do every time we got an error. I then noticed the "6B" pretty fast and thought, no way it could have been this easy. But of course it was. Like it always is. He just told me that he used the other file. Well now I know!

Hello Everyone!,
My desktop is currently running into an issue where it will crash (BSOD) at random times doing just about any program, the screen will basically become jumbled up/turn into Lines for a second and then BSOD to the Stop Error. I have included the Minidump file, JcGriff File, and Health and systems report as per the BSOD posting instructions.

My Basic system Specs include-
Windows 7 Professional x64 ( installation itself is about 2.3 years old and its Retail)
Age of System - Varies (Oldest component is 2.3 years old [AMD Phenom II X6 1090T], newest is only about 3 months [Asus DirectCU 6870s])

Components -

Asus Crosshair IV Formula 890FX
2x Asus DirectCU 6870

2 x SSD (C300 and M4)
1x 750GB SATA II HDD
2x DVD/CD-RW - R Combo Drives
1x Rosewill RNX Wireless NIC

(Also I noticed in the Perfmon it says it cannot detect an Antivirus Program, although I do possess one [AVG Internet Security 2012])

Any Help would be Greatly Aprreciated!

My copy of 18 Wheels Of Steel Convoy is being a massive pain in the ***. I've got it installed, but I can't open the game! I try to open it every time, and I get a dialog box that says "prism3d.exe; You cannot run multiple instances of this application at the same time". I go into Task Manager and find only 1 process named "prism3d.exe *32". When I close out "prism3d.exe *32", that closes the dialog box, then I retry opening it, and I get the same error message. This happens EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!

STOP: c oooo 145 {application error. The application failed to initialize properly (0x 0000005). Click OK to terminate application. The above message is what I receive, when I run "error check". It was advised from the Microsoft website that I ran ERROR CHECK, along with "disk cleanup" & "defrag" analysis, to see if the machine needs to be defragged.I went along with the advised procedures by Microsoft, because it was said that the computer would run faster. I've been doing the ones that worked, defrag analysis, disk clean up & CC Cleaner. Along with those maintenance tasks, I update all the definitions on the malware software. With the aforementioned error message problem with the lap top, I also have a problem with Adobe Reader (listed in another topic), that I can't uninstall it, without getting a 'Error 1402' message. Then the one last problem is the cursor jumping around at random times, when I am typing to either the forum or in a Word document. What steps are you taking to run the check?

That error seems to indicate a hard drive problem, which is why it was suggested to run chkdsk /r.

Start/Run...type chkdsk /r and hit Enter. Type Y in new screen and hit Enter. Reboot the system. The command should execute, before booting into XP.

I have an HP C5280 printer running wirelessly via a TP Link wireless print server and D Link Di 624 wireless router. I can print successfully from either my desktop (which is connected direct to the D Link router) or either of my laptops (wireless). However, when I select the double-sided print option I get a print error message after re-inserting the odd number pages to print the other side of the paper and then click 'continue'.

Could I resolve this by connecting the printer both direct to the desktop using USB AND leaving it connected via the wireless TP Link print server? This would enable me to print double-sided from my desktop (as I did before when the printer was only connected via the USB desktop port).

Earlier this week, our laptop popped up something suspicious, which sent me here. I was assisted, and as far as I know, the laptop was cleaned out. I ran an MBAM quick-scan, ran ATF or something, and an SAS full-scan, and all came back clean. The original topic is here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/227843/potential-trojan-or-other-problem/I installed Avira Antivir, COMODO (firewall only), and Spybot S&D to monitor the registry in the future. For further malware intrusions, this is likely good. However, since installing S&D, Vista has been giving error messages (ie, "Microsoft HTML Executable no longer working," or "Microsoft NET Command stopped functioning" type things). However, the actions I initiate appear to work, despite these errors. In addition, and the real bugger today!, is the printer will print out a document, but the print queue will not clear that item from the spool, and the printer is useless unless we restart the machine. (Stopping the spool, clearing that folder, and starting it again without a restart does not work.) I figure two things, maybe someone here (I was recommended to come here from that forum) can help:1. something with the S&D registry monitor program messed with some needed files? (I have uninstalled S&D now and only need to clear out the ProgramData folder it has to rid my machine of it completely. Supposedly, there's a backup in there from when S&D was first run?)2. the malware/adware problem that I came here for... Read more

XP HOME, Office 2003. This PC is primarily used for internet access, particularly emails. Occasionally Microsoft Word and QuarkXpress 5.0 are used and printed output produced from those two applications on an Epson D120 inkjet printer. From a few days ago, neither Word nor Quark will produce any print output. The program print commands behave normally and the printer messages are normal. The printer gives every appearance and sound of producing print, line by line and page by page, but all pages are blank. Printer settings are unchanged. However the printer continues to produce print output without any problem using right click, and print on emails, and the same for any stand alone file such as an image file. I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, but to no effect. Neither Word nor Quark will produce any print. The printer will only print via right click and print etc. Can anyone advise where the fault probably lies please?

Answer:No print output from Word or other application

has the printer for both these progs set itself to an imaginery printer. I had this once and had to set the printer as default.

Please help. I really need to print something before work on Monday. All of a sudden when I try to print lets say from FireFox it fails and a box pops up which is titled "print preview failed" and in the box it says "An error occurred while printing" I have tried many fixes and it still will not print...GET this if I go to my printers, this printer is set to the default. When I click properties and click print a test page it prints just fine!

This happened out of nowhere. Worked fine on Friday, booted PC up today and then around 8PM tried to print something and seems to have lost the connection internally when in APPS or browsers.

I tried uninstalling it, different USB ports, delete the Printer from my registry then reinstalling, Nothing same issue..... Printer is BROTHER HL-2240

Some more info for you. From M WORD. when I try to print it says "Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup" Everything appears to be setup fine... even the Brother Status Monitor which is telling me there is nothing wrong with it....

Answer:Printer will not print from any application or browser BUT

I know nothing about Brother printers and can't address your issue, but I see 2 issues in your log that I want to address.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Your operating system: Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 64-bit

Microsoft will be stopping all support for it in a few months and will no longer provide any security updates and hotfixes for it.
Most, if not all, internet browsers will also stop supporting it in a few months.
Internet Explorer is very outdated and Google Chrome has stopped support and Mozilla Firefox will be stopping support.
In a nutshell, it's going extinct like Windows XP did.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Your 1 TB(931 GB) hard drive

It's divided in 3 partitions which are all too full.
A too-full hard drive will cause performance issues and other issues.
Hopefully, all that stored personal data is backed up to some reliable external media.
If the operating system crashes or if the hard drive dies, you'll lose it all.

Helllllp Please!!! I installed an HP Deskjet 712C on my PC using a driver I downloaded from HP's site (actually listed as 710C). Now my computer is soooooo slooooooow that it's almost impossible to use. Printing is the slowest (3 - 5 minutes for a small file), but everything is very slow. So, I removed the DeskJet712C using Add/Remove Programs and things seem to be better.
Before installing the 712C, there was an HP DeskJet 672C installed and working fine. That was removed before installing the 712 C.
I'm also still connected to a server printer (HP LaserJet 5000N) which seems to work okay.
I was looking at the win.ini file and it seems like there are a ton of lines that should be removed. But since I really don't know what I'm doing I need help!!! I'm attaching a file with the lines I'm wondering about. What, if anything, should I delete? Does this even have anything to do with the problem?

A user is getting a popup warning upon login (see event log entry below).

This started last friday and another Tech ran chkdsk and the user was able to print a few times before they left at end of day, not able to print today. I ran the chkdsk but no luck.

The print spooler service will not start, when forced the popup shows.

I have removed and replaced spoolsv.exe with no luck.

I get the topic title message each time I boot up.  The full message is "MSASCui.exe Application error. This application failed to initialize properly (Oxc0000034). Click on OK to terminate the app."  One other message also appears each boot-up, beginning with "msmsgs.exe App error" etc.  What do I do?  I've tried system restore, re-downloading programs that appear to be affected (CCleaner, for example).  Thanks in advance.

I was brought a machine the other day from a friend who got it from a house she was cleaning...so of course there is no telling why they left it behind as it is souped up with all the fans, lights, and amd EP-8KHA motherboard with the counter on it...which when I first loaded it..it took forever the boot screens came up then the wonderful....Services.exe - Application Error. The application failed to initialize (0xc0000005). came up. I went through the prompts of ending it...then 20 mins or so later windows finely loaded but the start menu was gone....at first the whole desktop was just the blue screen but my patients in letting it load I finely had icons but still no start menu...I found that someone had removed nortan...so there is no anti-virus on it....well I tried to load AVG on a CD that I burned off my PC and load it...along with Spy-bot, ad-aware SE, and a few other programs to see if I could get some of the tried but true to repair any virus, malware and such off. Well to no avail did any of the programs load...so I had noticed that when I tried going into user accounts to see if this account had admin. privileges the user accounts never loaded. Doing some investigating I found on Microsoft that I could make another account with admin privileges and that it should load....NOPE....I got the account created but when I tried to log into it no windows just a blank screen...Ctrl.Alt.Delete. brings up the task manager on network I see that it says that the INTERNET is run... Answer:Services.exe - Application Error. The Application Failed To Initialize (0xc0000005).

Well...it seems to me (I may be misreading) but that system belonged to a unnamed 3d party, which had the operating license.

If I had found such system, the first thing I would have done is wipe it clean (because I don't like using someone else's data which they've decided to trash) and to give myself a good start at seeing if the system worked properly.

Then I would have done a clean install.

That's the only way that I know how to go from a series of unknowns...to a known good, working system.

Worst case scenario: The system is highly infected.

Best case scenario: The system has O/S or malware problems or a combination thereof.

Hi There

I have been given a friends computer to fix. The way he described it, it sounded like it was full of Malware etc, however I haven't been able to start it up as I get the following message appearing when I power it up.

userinit.exe - Application Error The Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click ok...

This message appears twice, I then get the wallpaper of the computer up, but nothing else, no icons or task bar. I have tried a wee trip to safe mode but don't get anywhere from that either, just the same message.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

Cheers

Colin

Okay, please forgive me as I have no idea where to post the issues that I am experiencing. Yes, I did check out previous posts that were similar in nature.

I was on my computer this morning. I shut down the computer and then this evening when I turn the computer on I get the following message:

Application Error The application failed to initialize properly. (0xc00000006). Click ok to terminate the application

I click okay I get a blank desktop - so I cannot run system restore. I have tried starting the computer in safe mode but I get the same message. I do not have any discs to re-install anything because when I bought my laptop I was told that all that stuff is built in. I have a compaq presario, windows xp. I am currently using my husbands laptop to try and figure out what to do. Can someone please help me?

Thank you,
Theresa

When you select to print, the print job goes thru' but Word stops responding.

However, I can then open another copy of Word and send another print job. The pages get printed but again the second copy of Word stops responding.

Then opening Notepad I can print from this without problem. Then opening Excel printing from here seems ok. By this time the second copy of Word allows me to close it. BUT the first copy is still on the screen NOT Responding.

During this process there are problems with screen redraw.
I have tried restarting and printing from Notepad. The first print job again hangs the Notepad application subsequent prints are ok.

Any Thoughts?
Carol

Hi All,

I recently purchased a new laptop and I have had this error occur almost since the start.

Basically, when I switch on my laptop, both bttray.exe and GrooveMonitor display the exact same error(bar the application name in the title) - I have also tried to install AVG Free which comes up with the same error when trying to start.

The error is:

BTTray.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc150004). Click OK to terminate the application.

I am running Microsoft? Windows Vista? Ultimate 6.0.6001.1.1252.44.1033.18.3066.1940

I haven't tried anything to correct this as I wouldn't know where to start.
Any help anyone can provide would be highly appreciated,

Thank you in advance,

Joe

I'm getting consistent/regular application errors involving "svchost.exe_SysMain" failures. A typical event message looks like the following:

Faulting application svchost.exe_SysMain, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x47919291, faulting module sysmain.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791adbd, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0000000000027bc4, process id 0x9b0, application start time 0x01c9c9b411570516.

This is followed (in the event log) by a cascade of errors from the "Service Control Manager Eventlog Provider" such as the following:

SYSMAIN is Superfetch.

I see exception code = 0xc0000005. What anti-virus product(s) do you have installed? If "Internet Security" package w/ personal firewall like NIS, KIS, Mcafee, etc... - IT is the likely cause and s/b removed.

OK, this is admittedly a strange one...

I have used an old (probably a 16-bit) application as my time synchronizer this I've used for quite some time. Its name is TimeRC, and is a great synchronizer as it tracks moon phases along with the time (from selectable, multiple potential time servers). After a fatal software crash a couple of weeks ago, I'm in the process of recovery. Attempts to manually launch the EXE, result in a launch-time error stating that the ap is not compatible with my Windows 7 Pro (SP1). Note that I'm running on the same level of Windows that I was using prior to the crash/re-install. I have inhibited compatibility checking (Group Policy adjustment) only to incur the Win32 error.

I've been through the litany of utilities (registry) to correct this situation, and I KNOW that this ap runs just fine on Windows 7 (from pre-crash days). I am at my wits end trying to avoid this situation. I suspect that there is a registry setting difference (now versus pre-crash) about which I'm ignorant, so I'm open to any, and all suggestions.

To use an alternative time synchronizer is not an option...I'm anal about how my system looks, feels, and performs!! I've even tried running in XP mode (virtual machine) to no palatable result. Note that I don't have access to the program's source code, otherwise I could recompile!

There's got to be something that I'm missing.

Color me frustrated,
Randy Reist (Lairbear)

cmd.exe application error - application was unable to start correctly (0x0000142). Click ok to close the application

Anyone know why it happened?

I got this error when I tried to restart to install an update. However, in windows update, it showed I had nothing to update. There was the little yellow shield by the shut down button to indicate it was installing an update when I would shutdown.

I rebooted fine, and CMD works fine. Is it possible windows thought it had to install something, and the installer had already installed the update (I went onto windows update earlier myself to install the windows and silverlight updates) and it bugged because maybe it had to use cmd to execute the update or something?

Answer:cmd.exe application error - application was unable to start correctly

It seems to be happening again, but only when I shutdown when explorer is open. I tried and tested his multiple times. It has only happened after the new silverlight update and kb 30247777 (sorry if the number is wrong) update.

What is causing this?

Hello,

I'm looking for a command prompt script or other file to be able to manually enter a time to run a file.

The idea I'm looking for is to execute the script or other file, enter a time into a pop-up prompt (i.e. 9:24) and have the computer execute the file at that time.

I'm looking for this because I frequently run a script that checks Windows Update and then shuts down the computer.

Idea; "Script.exe" opens a pop-up prompt to enter a time, then at the specified time, runs a program (or file), either by entering the name of the program (or file), or pointing the script to the location of the file in the script's variables.

Is this possible?

Answer:Manual time program execution program or script.

Hey guys, just checking if anybody knows anything about this. I'm looking for a program that can execute a file at a specified time without having to use Task Scheduler, since it takes longer to set up than it does to execute that way. The only thing I know of that might be able to do it is by Java code or something, but I'm not that knowledgeable in such things.

I have used "Data Execution Prevention" (DEP) listing my ACDC file viewer. I listedACDC because after it completes normally each time, there is an error message that says "Application has stopped working." I no longer want to see this error message.I use ACDC 7 for viewing and editing graphic files, here with this Windows 7 (64) system.

I usually select files with Windows Explorer, and they open using ACDC.

When I close the last file viewed, I get this error message that says "ACDSee 7.0 Application has stopped working"Installations of this ACDC on other Windows 7 computers do not have this issue. So I need to resolve it.

I'm having sporadic issues with many users connected over the network to a print server. If the printer is their default printer the application used to print will freeze/lockup until they log out / restart their machine. The only way to fix this (from my experience) is to set their default printer to something else (like Adobe PDF) or bypass the print server completely and do it by direct TCP/IP.

Has anyone ever heard of this issue and know of a fix? Think it is a driver related problem?

Answer:Application locks up when printing over the network via print server

right off the bat, it sounds like a driver issue or MAJOR dns issue. Are the default printer drivers PostScript by any chance? Are you offering both 64 and 32 bit drivers?

HELP!!  I hope somebody can help me with this.  I have posted this on Windowsforum.org and CNET Forums and have not had any luck.I get the following error several times a day. What did the other forums already advise you to do?If you have your windows xp cd, restart your computer and boot from the cd. After a few prompts, you'll want to choose to repair windows. There are two different repair options, one is a manual repair and the other is automatic. If you get the wrong one, start over.Back up your data before you do this, just in case something goes wrong. (probably won't go wrong)

When I start up my comp, everything is fine until I reach the XP welcome screen. At this point the 'userinit.exe - user application error' message box appears twice. after clicking ok, windows continues to load but when it gets to the desktop nothing shows up. I can make desktop show up by going into WTM and going to file>new task(run)..., but as soon it loads i get multiple message boxes of 'rundll32.exe - application error'. I get similar messages when I try to run notepad, system restore, and when I double click on the icon to safely remove hardware.

Hello, all,
In looking at my error logs, there have been occasional errors with Word. But just recently, they have become quite a pattern. I'm not a techie and don't know if this error entry tells us details to center in on exactly what the problem is. But I am copying it below for your perusal. I am running Home Vista & Office Home & Student 2007. After I installed an update to my HP OfficeJet All-in-One I started getting frequent messages that Word had failed & Microsoft was searching for solutions to the problem. It always repairs & Word returns for continued use, but something is clearly wrong. I saw a discussion on Bleeping Computer that lead me to think that Office & my HP printer might be conflicting. But so far as I am aware the updates for both the Office & HP are the newest versions. I think Microsoft is completely updated. Can you help me correct whatever this is all about ? I am very unclear about what is happening & don't know what to do.
Thanks, dreamcatcherco

Answer:Application Error--faulting Application Winword.exe

Microsoft Word crashed because of this module: hpz3r4x6.dllThe references that I was able to find for this file suggest that its:1) an OEM driver file, and2) a Unified UI/Render plug-inWhich doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot to me, but I've got a guess or two about.Since the filename starts with HP and you've recently installed an HP OfficeJet...did you install it from the drivers on the disk, or did you download the drivers from HP? If you installed from the disk, did the disk (or the setup program) specify that the drivers were compatible with Windows Vista? Often printers will be marked with a "Works with Windows Vista" sticker - but won't have the Vista drivers on the installation CD/DVD.I would suggest uninstalling the drivers and software for the HP printer, then reboot and test to see if the error has been corrected. If it has, then try getting the Vista drivers from this link: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/suppor...Display=driversand see if that helps.

Good Morning all. I need a VBA or a VBS file, I don't really care. I need a macro where the user can click a button and select multiple files from a folder, it won't always be every file in that folder. I then need it to print all those files that were selected. Opening the print dialog would be great, but the default printer would work too. That part seems ok, in fact I am pretty sure I can just do that in Windows Explorer without needing any application. The catch is I need to print only one sheet in the excel workbooks, the sheet would be named "Turn-In". All that combined is giving me a huge headache. I have looked at some of the stuff Rollin_Again has done and it is so close, but I can't figure out how to add it all together.

I am using windows xp tablet pc edition for the last three years.

recently (from one week) my system is behaving weirdly.
I can open and use just one application at a time. if I try to open any other application it doesnt respond or open, but the first application keeps working perfectly. If I need to use some other application I have to restart.

Example, If I open firefox, I can use it perfectly, but If I try to open word (or any other application), it doesnt open.

I'm not sure what the problem is, or what I should do, any suggestions?

Hi,

Based on my understanding, these security warnings are for preventing your system from some risk.

May I know if the error message appears no matter which application you open? If the error appears just when running this application, I suspect this is related to
the specific application and I suggest you check how the application is designed; for further help on this, you could post to MSDN forum:

MSDN Forum

If you want to ignore this message, you could try the following steps:

You can turn off all of these messages by doing as follows:
1.
Open Internet Explorer.
2.
Go to Tools -> Internet options.
3.
Click on Security tab.
4.
Click on custom level button.
5.
Enable “Launching applications and unsafe files”.

Hope it helps.

In Windows XP, using MS Word 2003, why is it that you have to save after each time you print, even though nothing at all has been altered in the document. Is it some reformatting that occurs automatically when printing, and can it be altered so that saving is not necessary?

Answer:Have to save after each time you print

Well I had an idea that this might be quite straightforward, but I was clearly mistaken.

C:\WINDOWS\system 32\spoolsv.exe is attempting to change or view this computers Internet Connection Protection Settings. To give permission to edit these settings for as long as the program is open click YES

The options below are ?YES? ?NO? & ?MORE INFORMATION? (which doesn?t respond) plus there is a ?tick here not to show this dialogue again? (and ticking this makes no difference either ? it always returns). It makes no difference which box I click on ? the printing always starts after I have cleared the message for the second time. Ive looked in Internet Tools>Internet Options but I can't see what I need to alter to stop these messages. I?d really appreciate some help with this.

Answer:Same Old Message Every Time I Try to Print!

Make sure that the printer's Network drivers are installed on both computers, and it is checked as the default printer.

Hello.  My PC is a dell operating with Windows 7.  On 2/18/15 I started it with the above message warning from Symantec on Start Up. I said yes to the question.  Today I had the same message upon startup.  This time I said no to the question.  I've run several scans without any results.  Yesterday I had the same message on my new Samsung tablet.  Could you tell me how I should proceed?

I don't know the difference between an Application and a Program. Thought the Geektionary would help, but didn't find anything there.

I have 2 Dell Windows XP computers.

If I want to copy something such as Microsoft Money from one pc and install it on the other, what exactly do I need to copy? The application or the program?

And where do I find what I need to copy? :confused

Any help in this area is so appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer:Application vs. Program

Well basically an Application is an executable file such as Notepad.exe whereas a program can contain more than one application along with numerous other files such as DLL files.

Since the days when Windows had a registry it is far more difficult just to copy a program as it often has numerous entries in the registry which will point to locations of files within the program - this is why prgrams these days are generally installed. Only if the program contains a small number of files or is a self contained executable (such as Notepad which is both a program and an application rolleyes) can a program be copied.

Hope that's all clear. :confusedrolleyes

A friend has a cheap HP printer linked. Wirelessly to an HP laptop running Win 8.1. The printer works but wil not print for example pages 1 to 4 but prints page 4 then stops. It will only print page 1 when that page is selected then page 2 and so on. Does anyone know why it should start at the last page in the range and not print all the pages in one go. I use Win 7 so am not sure if there is somewhere in settings that should be changed. It worked for my friend when she was using Win 7 on her former laptop.

Answer:Printer will only print one page at a time

There are printing preferences for most printers and it could be that she has accidentally selected print current page only. The printer interface should not be greatly different in W8.

I've loaded my new HP printer software with a cd that came with it. I go to print and it prints fine. If I turn my computer off and restart it keeps saying to "add" a printer and I can't print again until I load the software again.

Why can't the program "stay" on my system? Why do I have to uninstall and re-install each time I turn on my computer?? Very frustrating.

Answer:Have to install printer EVERY time to print??

It should stay on your computer! And be listed in the programs file. Are you sure you installed it correctly?

When I attempt to print documents to a PDF with Adobe Acrobat X Professional 10.1.7, the print to PDF window will randomly go to the background to where I have to select it from my taskbar before I can save the document or print it to a pdf. Does anybody have any idea on how I can fix this?

Additional Details:

Here are some pictures of what's going on:
This is the typical window I see when I go to print: http://imageshack.us/a/img594/9388/68580964.jpg
This is what randomly happens after I select "print": http://imageshack.us/a/img5/9915/94176095.jpg - As you can see, it pops up in the background and then I have to click on it from my taskbar to bring the window to the foreground.

This issue never occurred on my previous installation... same computer & same software. Additionally, I've tested this issue on 4 other computers in our office that are all running Windows 7 but have different hardware and the problem doesn't occur on those PCs. I can't ever remember having this issue on previous PCs.

This problem occurs when trying to print to a PDF from Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat X Professional & Mozilla Firefox. I cannot get the problem to occur from Notepad or Microsoft Outlook... in other words, it works properly when attempting to print from Notepad and MS Outlook.

I've called Adobe tech support and they'v... Read more

Answer:If the CEO couldn't print and the SQL server was down at the same time, what would...

Trouble shoot the SQL server; tell the CEO to have his/her secretary (administrative assistant) do the printing like he/she does 99% of the time.

Or, if you are trying to keep your job, tell the CEO that the printing problem might be because the server is down, so you have to fix that first.

Question: print program

I need a good print program, one that I can control, not one that controlls me!!
Up to this point I have been using Print Master 10...which has worked very good in the past..for some reason using win 7 it will not install...so I installed Print Master 16 which worked fine for one day, and then it decided it did not like my resolution and used its own and I tried bring it back the way I wanted It messed up my whole resolution...anyhow I want a single program that will work in any resolution that I want, be able to change the size of picture on a page even though there are 6 different photos and edit the views (color, tint, contrast,etc)....print master can do this, but there is other stuff on the program like cards which use...just a simple print program..in other words similar to Print Master but not all the bells an whistles
Anybody out there got any ideas
Kas

Answer:print program

Not sure exactly what you are looking for here but I assume that print master is one of those guided - project based print programs for things like greeting cards etc.

if you just want a print program depending on your printer the manufacturer may well have a program for basic printing with resize options etc, I know that Epson provide a fair application with their Ink-jet printers.

If you are looking for something with true control you will probably have to look at some form of desktop publishing package - the open source Scribus is one I have used but this does take a while to learn.

Another option would be a modern word processor which has most of the same functions, have a look at OpenOffice

Of course there is also Microsoft's own Office suite with Publisher or word

I wrote a program in Visual Basic Express.
The program works well so far.

I want to add a printed output to this program.
I worked with the on line help and to add printing to my tiny program is extremly complicated.

I was wondering if I cound add a button to print and have it open a web browser with the info on it. Then we can print from the web browser.

Would this be easier than trying to program all the steps to set up printer and print function?

Are there basic lines of code to do this or is it just as complicated?

Thanks,
Matt

Answer:Print out of a Program

There's no real EASY button solution for this. It does require a bit of getting dirty from what I recall. If you want to create an HTML page and write the data to that, then that would work fine too. Probably would be easier in the long run to let the browser control the printing

Having updated to Windows 10, this message constantly appears when starting my Notebook. I have read other threads regarding the 3D Driveguard, my notebook is HP ProtectSmart....is this then the same theory? Power up is slow, internet connection crashes all the time....I am so over it.  This is the 2nd time I have upgraded to Windows 10, I reverted back to Windows 8.1 after all the initial glitches and am now seriously considering reverting back again.  Is there a solution in the first instance to repair the Error Message?

Answer:Application Error - AccelerometerSt.exe, The application was...

Dear Zaelene, I assume the problem is the driver software, it isn't compatible with your notebook. You can download compatible driver by searching it on google or HP sites.

Hi All,

I'm a newbie here, so sorry if I haven't done a proper search on the forum to a solution for my problem, I tried but couldn't find an exact match. I had to dump my Sound Blaster X-FI card because of the pops and crackles, which I didn't have in XP. I'll try to resolve that problem by downloading Windows 7 drivers.

So meanwhile I reverted back to the onboard sound card. Crackles and popping gone, but I can only get sound from one application at a time. For example if I run my DAW studio software sound is fine, then I switch to U-Tube, and no sound comes out from U-Tube. So it looks like it can handle only one dedicated application at a time. I can't recall this problem with Windows 98 or XP. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks a lot.

Tim

Answer:Sound only works in one running application at a time

Youtube uses Flash player. If you don't have it, get it. If you have it, reinstall it.

Also, check the Sound/Recording section. The DAW software may be setting up a recording option that will not allow other sounds to come through. If not, make sure the Stereo Mix/System Mixer is set as the default recording device. This is needed for streaming audio from the internet.

I have a recording studio using Sonar X2 Producer.

This problem is related to sound volume, but I think the problem is not related to the sound system, but more the way Windows recognizes applications when they are launched. So here's the problem.....

I use Teamspeak a lot when I game. To be able to adjust the volume of Teamspeak relative to the game (so I can hear both properly), I have my PC volume set the 80% and I set everything else to about 15% most of the time. If I need to tweak an individual applications volume, I can open the standard Win7 volume mixer and tweak the volume for that application. Generally, that works great. I set the volume once and it stays at that volume until I change it.

However, there are some programs where every time I launch them, they have their volume set to 80%. An example of this is the program Voice Attack. I have Voice Attack do TTS or play sounds when I run certain commands. For example, if I say, "What time is it?", Voice Attack will say, "It is xx o'clock". I have Voice Attack set up to run on startup, so every time I reboot, when I use a voice command that has audio feedback, it is damn loud because the volume is set to 80%.

I downloaded a 3rd part tool for managing volume called PowerMixer. It did not help me with my problem, but it did show me what I suspected: Every time Voice Attack runs, the mixer (both the stock Win7 mixer and PowerMixer) recognize it as a brand new application. They think this is the first time I've ever run that application... Read more
