Encore ENUWI-N3 Wireless Adapter plus internal broadcom adapter issues

Question: Encore ENUWI-N3 Wireless Adapter plus internal broadcom adapter issues

Hey,
I have two problems so i will explain the scenario then number out the issue. I had a new hard drive installed, when i booted the laptop, it worked well. The wifi in my area is very low so I was told I can use a wireless adpter to "boost" the signal strength received. I was given a Encore ENUWI-N3 Wireless Adapter to use. I installed the utility program from the official website and the computer still did not recognise the device, so I deleted the program. I then lost connection to the internet, and at the time i thought the wifi can dropped (i later realised that was not the case since my phone's wifi was still connected). I then reinstalled the software ( the executible file was saved on the harddrive), and it give me the same message that there are no drivers for the adapter.

I shifted my attention to my failed internet connection, after troubleshooting it give me a error 28 message stating that there were no drivers installed for the Broadcom wireless adapter that is internally installed. I tried a system restore to before i tried installing the Encore adapter, and still nothing, the system continued to give me the same message and it registered in the "device manager" as unknown device named "ethernet controller" with a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. I have been able to borrow a laptop and download the LAN adapter fron the ACER support website, and although it had no "set up.exe" file visible i was able to get the adapter to read the zip file and then the system recognised the adapter. HOWEVER, still NO internet connection.I can see the available networks, but it just would not connect to any. WHY???
I have you posted a website to get the driver for the external adapter in an older thread about a year ago, so i shall try and see if it works.(#2)

#1 My laptop still does not connect to the internet although i have installed the LAN and wireless adapter drivers from the website.

the adapter specs: Broadcom
Hardware Id: pci ven_14e4&dev_1692&subsys_033d1025&rev_01
Computer model: Acer Aspire 5736z- 4460
windows 7 ultimate

PS: before this whole mishap, I remember that in the device manager, under the network adapter there was "WAN miniport......PPOE" something something; my brain failed to pay attention to anything after this point. The "WAN miniport" is no longer there.
Please Help. Thanks in advance

Preferred Solution: Encore ENUWI-N3 Wireless Adapter plus internal broadcom adapter issues

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently had to replace my old g router so I went with a new n router (WRT160N). Thinking it would improve the speed of my wifes computer (her's is the only one connected wireless) I bought a used Encore ENUWI-N3 adapter to replace the Encore g card that was in it. I downloaded the drivers from Encore's site and installed them, plugged in the card but the setup utility does not recognize the new adapter. In the device manager the adapter shows up under Other Devices as 802.11n WLAN with the yellow question mark. Under properties it says "the drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)". I've tried the hardware wizard but it can't find the drivers on the computer and skips the step where it looks online and goes to the can't install screen. I'm sure I've done something wrong but don't know where to start looking. Below are the basic specs on the computer:

Hai! I've installed Windows 7 this morning and I should have known I'd run into a problem with my wireless USB adapter. It is supposed to auto install, so theres no program I can run in compatibility mode. I've played with it a lot, and finally I'm resorting to asking for help. It is made by ENCORE Electronics. I've found the correct driver (for vista) here: Encore Electronics, Inc. but even that will not install properly using the device manager. Is it possible to get this working? Or am I doomed to re-installing xp?

Answer:ENUWI-G2 Wireless USB Adapter

Try installing your driver 'As Admin' and in Compatibility Mode for Vista SP1.

Hello, I've had issues with the connectivity of the internal T400 wireless adapter connecting wirelessly to a Linkysy router, Model#WRT54GV5. The initial connection connects successfully and you can get an internet page, browse the web, etc. but then intermittently the connection just drops, and you'll see the wireless icon on the system tray will show "excellent connection" but when you go to access the internet, the browser can't load the page, it acts as if there is no internet connection.  Also, we use the T400 for VPN and users are experiencing the VPN freezing, I'm assuming because the internet connection is dropping. We switched a new T400 for another new T400 thinking this would resolve the wireless connecitivity issues but there is still a problem with it holding a good stable connection.  One of our users, who has had the most issues, uses this at his home and connects to his Linksys wireless router, which is about 3 feet from where he's sitting and has this happen frequently.  Prior to us upgrading him to a T400 he never had any issues with VPN or his wireless connectivity, but the new T400 appears to have some sort of compatibility issue.  I'm researching the specs and compatiblity but thought I would post here for any suggestions.

When installed, the fast switch page goes away and a drop down menu for shut-down, standby, ect appears instead.  Also a login screen now appears upon startup.  I believe their is an issue involving the wlancugina.dll and wirelessgina.dll.  These 2 .dll's appeared after the installation.  Encore tech says the ms.dll from IBM.  I said help!

Hello..

Sorry my first post is going to be a 'help me plz!!' post.. but I'm reaaally stumped.

I was downloading updates through Windows Update a few days ago.. and I selected a few of the drivers that appeared as options. Unfortunately, that was a mistake. My laptop worked fine for a short time before it froze on me.. and the next time I booted.. I could not find the Broadcom 802.11 b/g WLAN entry in the Local Area Connection (under Network Connections) that I usually have.

It does show up under the device manager .. and claims to be working properly.. but.. it really isn't. I can't view any nearby wireless connections at all.. so I really don't think it's a problem with my router or anything like that.

There's a switch at near the bottom of my laptop (where I also plug in my headphone and microphone) .. when my wireless connection works, it is a blue light. If it's off/disabled/not working.. it's an orange. When I switch it on/off right at startup.. it freezes the computer. (Not sure if that random info would help... but there you go.)

I tried reinstalling the original drivers that came with my computer many many.. MANY times. And I tried looking online for newer drivers from the HP site by looking up my model number and downloading/installing the driver... but nothing. When I do an 'ipconfig /all' .. the Broadcom doesn't show up at all. (So renewing/releasing doesn't work) I tried resetting BIOS s... Read more

Hi, I got a new laptop today with this adapter built in. All everything is connected fine but it won't detect my network, it sees both my neighbour's networks, but not mine. £ other computers in my house can detect it, so why not the laptop? The router is a Netgear DG834G and the 3 computers connected to it are all Netgear too.
Any reason why the broadcom adapter would't see my router?
Cheers

Answer:Broadcom 802.11g wireless adapter

What model & manufacturer of laptop, and are you using WEP or WPA on the Router? The simple thing to look for is if the Wifi adapter light is lit up on the laptop. If it is a Compaq/Hp notebook, you would have a blue light that has an icon next to it that looks like a lollipop silkscreen icon. Same color for Gateway.

I would make sure that the Wifi Adapter is Enabled, or otherwise it would never work.

I recently had to replace my wireless adapter and received a Broadcom BCM943228HMB from my HP rep.  I am unable to find a driver for this adapter for Windows 7 64bit.  I borrowed an adapter from another 8470p and it works, so it is not the M/B.Does someone have the correct driver?

Hi: You need this driver... This package contains Broadcom Wireless LAN driver and is required to enable the integrated Broadcom Wireless LAN adapter in supported notebook models running a supported operating system. This package also contains the Broadcom Wireless Utility application and IHV Extensions that add support for Cisco Compatible Extensions. ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp70501-71000/sp70616.exe

Hi. I am having trouble getting my Broadcom Wireless Network Adapter to work properly. I keep getting this error

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

I have a Gateway MX6027 laptop and i went to their support site and got the drivers. I run the setup and install the drivers, but after the restart, i still get the same problem. I tried unistalling the driver and reinstalling it again but that does not seem to work.

Answer:Broadcom Wireless Network Adapter

Did this device come with a cd with it if it did then just go to control panel then to system and under the hard ware tab click device manager and the name of the device with the question mark next to it well just right click and and click update drivers then with the cd in the cd rom let the windows search for it automatically and it should fix the problem if it didnt come with a disc then go to the website and downlod the drivers if that doesnt work then its probably a bad device thats when you send it back to the manufacturer

Okay, first off I am not very computer literate when it comes to the technical parts of computers.

We have an older desktop pc that does not have an ethernet adapter. So in hooking up to dsl, we recieved a wireless/ethernet modem from our phone company. To get the router to work with the pc, we purchased and Encore ENUWI-G2 802.11g Wireless USB Adapter.

The adapter reads on the pc, but it won't read the router. After calling up the tech support with Encore, their final suggestion was to reload our OS. That in itself is a hassle. Does anyone have another suggetion why it won't read.

I read a forum that suggestion reloading the drivers from another site as the chipsets might not be accurate. I did download them, but it's just a couple of odd files that are not an .exe or whatever. I don't know how to add the information into the device.

The adapter works in my newer Averatec laptop
Any help would be greatly appreciated as reloading XP is a last resort. And if anyone needs more information, please let me know.

Hi there - my wireless adapter seems like its dead.

My laptop isn't detecting it and I cannot connect to wireless networks. The light to indicate if the wireless is on or not, is showing orange (off) instead of blue (on), when in fact the switch is in the 'on' position.

I've tried installing the broadcom driver again, but it didn't help. I'm just about to call up HP to have it serviced, unless anyone has any suggestions?

What really gets to me, is that my laptop is just about 1 and a 1/2 years old and this is the second time this exact same problem has occurred. Last time this happened, it was almost at the end of the warranty and I was able to have it repaired under the warranty. Now, I'm guessing I'll have to pay for the repair - the warranty is finished.
This second problem has occurred during a SHORTER time span - in about 4-5 months! Last time, HP's affiliates who repaired it, said the problem was the motherboard, so the motherboard was replaced (or was it just repaired?)

So I'm out of ideas. I don't even use the wireless much. Most of the time I'm connected to the internet via ethernet. What actually causes this problem?
Does anyone know how much having this repaired or having the wireless adapter or motherboard replaced would cost?

My laptop is a Compaq V3118au in case anyone's interested lol.

Sorry for my essay

Thanks for your help

Answer:Problem with broadcom wireless network adapter

i know this problem. first, try to update your BIOS. if this will helps so, the problem disappeared.
second problem connected with southbridge chip(mini-PCI-express is bus which connected directly to southbridge)
third. i recommend to sell this laptop. this platform has VERY BAD QUALITY of motherboard and has development errors(lack of northbridge and videochip heatsink). HP tried to fix this problem with new BIOS in which they changed passive thermal cooling temperature, but this is not right way.
and fourth try to replace the Wi-Fi adapter.

I have an HP dv6-6c10us laptop with a Broadcom 802.11n wireless adapter.  It worked fine on Win 7.  When I upgraded to Win 10, it stopped working.  The driver has not been updated since 6/2/13. Until the driver gets updated by Broadcom or HP, this computer is now a desktop. Any suggestions on how to get the wireless adapter doing under Windows 10?

hi,

My asus t200 transformer book has the Broadcom 802. 11abgn wireless sdio adapter.
Recently, my PC started having serious issues with connecting to public wifi.
Everytime I try, my PC says my wireless adapter is experiencing driver or hardware related issues, and the wireless function shuts down entirely.

Restarting, enabling and disabling and so forth doesn't solve the problem, only a full uninstall of the device and a clean install of most recent drivers fixes the issue, until next time I try connecting to a public wifi.

My Asus runs window 10 64bit.

Any ideas?

Answer:Broadcom 802. 11abgn wireless sdio adapter

Use a utility such as Aida64 to see exactly which model is your WiFi adapter. Then download latest driver directly from Broadcom and see if they do work. Since the problem arises only in public networks, it could also be some security restriction. I don't have a WiFi card right now, so I cannot help you with any settings. Anybody else?

Can anyone suggest anything for the Wireless adapter tripping out after upgrading Win 8 to windows 8.1? Computer used to work fine on Win 8. Now I cant download large files or watch TV or you Tube or live Football 30 feet away from the Router. Yet it worked good on Windows 8. Anyone having similar problems? Is it possible to return to Windows 8? I did not make a Restore USB at Windows 8 but did a Restore USB for Win 8.1.

Answer:BROADCOM 4352 wireless adapter trips out

The Broadcom drivers aren't installing the right one but if you can visit the Windows Update Center using a wired connection there is a new driver for Broadcom that works.

Lenovo and Dell both have drivers for the 4352 as well.

Hi I purchased 2 E450 laptops for home use earlier this month. Both have an issue where the Broadcom wireless card regularly disconnects from our home wifi router.  We have 2 more older laptops than do not suffer this problem. Have tried changing the network adapter settings and unchecking the "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power" option, but this has not proved successful. Very grateful for any help.  As a Thinkpad user from the T40 era I expected better with the first Thinkpads I have purchased in 10 years!

I've been having issues with my wireless connection for the last few months. It will sometimes work fine for a few hours and then suddenly go to limited connectivity and I would lose all internet connection. It says it is still connected but if I was to turn the router off it doesn't notice. Also when I disconnect and try to reconnect it fails to do so. When troubleshooting the issue the laptop will try and restart the adapter which then causes the entire computer to freeze and require a restart. Upon restarting the issue is sometimes fixed and sometimes not.I have tried updating drivers and going back to old ones but this doesn't seem to make much of a difference. The network adapter I have is a Broadcom with a model number of BCM94313HMGB. When looking for drivers on the lenovo website they appear to be aimed at different manafacturers and not broadcom. I don't know if this could be an issue? I've also tried changing the rate and power management settings, neither of which help. Its getting to the stage where I can barely use the laptop and I'm considering either buying an external wifi adapter which would be awkward to use and carry around, or buying a new wireless card of another brand. Any ideas?

Your picture dint show up. Make sure you are intalling it in the correct directory ie Programe Files first. I also reccommend unistalling the wireless original driver ie by device manager then reboot your computer then re-install again. If not plug in directly to router and install it that way if possible.

Hi,

I have a Dell XPS8300 with a DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card. I noticed that it drops Ethernet connection. If I reboot the modem/router, it works for the day but when I power down and bootup the next day, the connection defaults to wireless.  Dell swapped out the motherboard a few years ago, when the pc was still under warranty. They said it had a known issue where the integrated half cards had an issue.  It worked fine since then but I read articles that this is happening to people who upgraded to Windows 10.  I upgraded last year and this started about a  month ago.  Does anyone know if this issue is related to driver or if it is hardware?  Thanks!

Need help trying to find a driver:Been trying to hunt down this driver for this internal wifi nic for an eMachine laptop model m5405. I expected the other drivers to be more trouble than a Broadcom driver, but it appears that Broadcom does not have any legacy driver support that I can find for this Broadcom BCM4306KFB chip in the card:83-880099-0000 E3D0WMIB-114GAlso finding references to Dell and Gateway for this network adapter yet no drivers work that I can find. This system was so full of virus's/malware when i got it. I was able to go to device manager while it was infected and write everything down before blowing the OS away to start clean. So I know that this NIC worked when it had the correct driver, but correct driver cant be found    One website based in Germany possibly with website ending in .DE had a download that I waited 90 sec to download and in the end it was an Intel driver not broadcom, and it didnt match the 5.5MB of the advertised size and was only 800k in size.OS is Windows XP Home SP3 and Laptop is a Sempron XP 2800 with 512MB RAMThanks

Hi,I have a Lenovo G500 windows 8.1 with Broadcom 802.11n network adapter.I cannot get the WLAN to start. The message I get is ?This device cannot start (Code 10)?.I have tried updating the drivers with various different ones. Deleting the device and rebooting to see if it will pick up the correct driver. Doing a system restore. Installing any Windows updates that were outstanding. The thing is the wireless was working fine earlier today, it just seems to have suddenly stopped. When I try to install new drivers I get a message window saying ?Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while trying to install it?.Any ideas and help would be greatly appreiciated. One other thing, I did see a similar problem elsewhere on the internet and the advice was in the adapter properties to change the WMM setting to disabled. I did this and it did correct the problem and the WI-Fi started working again for a day or so, but I now seem to be back to square one. The issue is not with the router as all other devices in our household operate fine. I am getting desparate and maybe thinking it could be a hardware fault which might need replacing. I would be grateful for any help anyone could give me please Thanks Steve

Answer:Lenovo G500 Windows 8.1 64bit, Broadcom 802.11n Wireless Adapter "Not Starting"

Hi sjemerton ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

This device cannot start (Code 10) message is generic and may also indicate possible hardware failure .
Fastest way to isolate software versus hardware issue is doing factory reset but would delete everything and reimage it back the way it was from out of box condition along with appropriate drivers intended for the pc.

Before deciding on a full reset , you can try uninstalling all drivers for the WLAN card from the device manager but before restarting , configure driver update to never  . Install WLAN driver from the website or D:Lenovo/drivers if still available.

After installation , go back to device manager and change properties of the WLAN driver power management tab unchecked , on advance tab with roaming aggresiveness / tendency to highest.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Has anyone discovered a fix for the speed issues with Dell Laptops (I.E. Inspiron 17 5759) using the AC3160 internal wireless adpater?
At 2.4Ghz max is 75 mpbs and at 5.0 Ghz max is 150 mpbs.
Using another Dell Laptop (Latitude D620) with the same Linksys/Cisco Router we get double these speeds consistently. At 2.4 ghz max is 150 mpbs and at 5.0 Ghz is 300 mbps. Double that of the AC-3160.
Both laptops are the same distance from the router.
Have upgraded to the latest Dell supplied drivers for the AC3160 and changed properties of the wireless adapter driver but no change to the speeds.
If this issue has not been or cannot be fixed then can someone recommend a Wireless dual band USB 3.0 adapter than we can plug into a USB port on this Inspiron Laptop so we can get faster speeds?

Takenote that you can't just replace the card with the same model number without complying with the indicated fru number. Doing so, will result to a error message at startup. This restriction is popularly called as the whitelist. An alternative to the desired wireless communication between your TV and your unit is to have ChromeCast. You might want to explore this since this is easier compared to the replacement of the wifi card.

Dear all,

i've got a Tecra 8200

After installing WinXP Pro, the Wireless Adapter will only be found as PCMCIA MTD-0002.

I,m unable to install Drivers for the Adapter.

XP is with SP2
Bios is 1.60

Could anybody help me what to do, thanks in advance.

Brgds,

Thomas

Answer:Not able installing internal Wireless Adapter on Tecra 8200

Hi,

if you have the Agere MiniPCI WLAN card installed, the system needs to install the following registry key with the driver for the WLAN card:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Pcmcia\Parameters]
"IrqRouteToPciController"=dword:00000006

I've found an installation instruction:

1. Clean install Windows XP Service Pack 2 package
or Clean install the Windows XP Gold package and install Service Pack 2 update image on it.
2. Copy the TICardBusIrqRouting.reg to the system, then click the file on the system.
3. The following window will appear,
"Are you sure you want to add the information in xxxxx\DISABL~1.REG to the registry"
Then select "Yes".
xxxxx is the location of TICardBusIrqRouting.reg
4. The following window will appear,
"Information in xxxxx\DISABL~1.REG has been successfully entered into the registry."
Then click "OK".
xxxxx is the location of TICardBusIrqRouting.reg
5. Reboot the system

Good luck!
Bye

Today I installed windows 7 on my laptop. After installation of drivers and updates, I found the wireless adapter was not
enabled by default. Then I checked the device manager to make sure that my driver worked. I didn't find any question marks
or exclamation marks in device manager. And then I tried a restart of my computer. But the adapter still stayed disabled.
Then I tried pressing the combination of fn + f12, finally the adapter came to alive. And I could successfully connect to the
router and surf the Internet, but after another reboot, the adapter didn't show up automatically, instead I had to press that
combination of fn + f12 again. Before this installation, my computer usually worked automatically with wireless adapter
loaded on boot. So I wanna know how I could make the internal wireless adapter be enabled on boot without turn it on
manually.

Thanks.

Answer:How to make the internal wireless adapter be enabled on boot?

Have a look inside the BIOS settings. I believe the button to get to the BIOS while the PC is booting up is F10 .

Last year I upgraded my Compaq 6710b to Windows 10 64 bit and functioning satisfactorily since, not any driver issue whatsoever. Presently I would like to upgrade the WLAN adapter to a N card, retrieved the correct HP part number in the HP Maintenance & Service Guide (thanks to this forum ) and I am ready for ordering. However I just wondered whether the Broadcom WLAN N module (HP partnr. 441530-002) will be recognized by Windows 10 or whether there are seperate drivers available. Thanks for your suggestions, regards, Jelte

Is my internal adaptor fried or is there something I can do?

Thanks

I need somebody's help. The internal wireless network adapter on my T61 will not associate with my linksys gateway.I can install (and am using to contact this site) a linksys USB wireless adapter and it works just fine. I can connect the ethernet cable to the laptop and the gateway and it works just fine.I am running vista 32 bit enterprise edition with 3 gig ram,I have done what I believe is all the normal things, uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter, made sure I had the latest driver, placed the laptop right next to the gateway, made sure the adapter was receiving the same channel that the gateway is using etc etc. Apart from using the T61 with the USB adapter which works well, I have 2 other laptops which also have no issues with the gateway. I have gone to Starbucks and could not get on their wireless in the store. Any suggestions Thank you for any helpSasquachnw Anybody got any suggestions.

Answer:T61 internal wireless network adapter will not associate with linksys gateway

Welcome to the forum! I'd try booting a "live" Linux CD and checking whether the networks are seen there. If they are, and you're able to connect, there's a driver issue somewhere within Windows. If you can't connect when running Linux either, your wireless card is likely defective. Good luck.

Hi! I bought Lenovo Y720 Cube Ideacentre and got a picture from the brochures that there is already an XBox adapter build-in. I wasted one day to try pairing my XBox Elite controller to this PC pressing the pairing button on bottom of the Cube case. Installing XBox controller driver and application from Windows 10 Store. Then I opened the Cube case and found that the place for XBox adapter was empty! Then I tryed to find where on heck I may place the cable from XBox wireless adapter to motherboard.I have contacted my local support and they said this version of Cube do not have either the wireless adapter for XBox controller and no USB hub. Now I am asking & searching the product or serial number of internal Lenovo USB hub. Where I can find this USB hub and what it may cost for me? Yes, I am very disappointed in this product which I got a picture of the product brochures and "Ready for playing wireless with XBox controller". To clarify the matter, I'm not looking for an external usb hub, but a Lenovo internal model-based usb hub for this Y720 Cube.

Hi,
For a while, I'm using the Z97-deluxe with
- 1x bluetooth adapter
- 2x gigabit ethernet
- 1x wifi (physical)
- 1x wifi (virtual)
As you might know, the "virtual" is the "Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter". This will share the bandwith with the real (physical) wifi adapter, but is extremmly usefull to set up another network (e.g. a wireless printer, or even an ad-hoc connection).
This virtual adapter can be set up through command line with "netsh wlan hostednetwork " commands
My question is :
There still is another adapter : Broadcom Virtual Wireless Adapter (???)
This adapter is named "wireless"
But it clearly appears like an ethernet connection, (if we trust its icon it the network cards, plus it's written "network cable unplugged" as ethernet have, instead of "not connected" as wifi have...)
So, what is this yet-another-stranger-vitual-adapter, and most importantly, how can we use it ???
Thanks a lot !

Hello, I would love to ask for some help!
I've recently purchased the newer Dell XPS 13 9360 Non-touch (not the 2 in 1) and am having some trouble with using an external monitor. The screen (on the external monitor) keeps on flickering and has a very unstable connection.
I've searched and found that apparently lowering the power output of the WIFI network adapter can fix this problem.
The problem is that the current XPS's wifi adapter doesn't allow the power output to be changed. The previous fixes were geared towards intel wifi adapters.
The general power settings for the computers doesn't show wifi card power controls.

I have updated all the drivers for the computer including the wireless adapter. Still the options doesn't change.

Has anyone found a way to get a stable external monitor to work with the Killer Wireless Adapter cards?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
-JDed

Answer:XPS 13 9360 External Monitor Flicker with USB C - HDMI Adapter [Killer Wireless Adapter]

For what it's worth: For me (XPS 13 9360, QHD, i7, 16 GB, Killer WiFi), external screens are perfectly stable, even with wireless being on relatively high throughput load, albeit not high power (energy) load.
I am connecting both HDMI and DisplayPort displays, each with cheap native USB-C adapters (i.e. through Thunderbolt). I also have full success with a Dell DA200, through its built-in HDMI graphics adapter.

Hi,

thanks for looking in and trying to help. I have a laptop with Windows 7 on it, and as usual today the laptop's screen frame also accomodates the internal Wireless Internet antenna. I am able to use the existing networks when they are close enough to me.

But I wanted to have a better reception, so I bought one of those USB-based Wireless Internet Adapters (WIA) which have mounted a little 5 dBi antenna (dBi = Decibel) on its side. I bought recently a much larger 22 dBi antenna, which I can use to replace the smaller antenna on that WIA. Windows also recognized the USB device correctly (please see the screenshot link: http://www.NADB.net/v/Prom/WLAN.jpg), but the connection tool at the lower right side of Windows (system tray area) displays only those networks which the internal screen frame antenna captures.

I tried already to disable the internal antenna, but then I don't get any network. Why can't the Network Connection icon not show networks the USB WIA might capture? What is it I am doing wrong?

Please don't mind to ask me for additional details here, I will provide them as additional details.

Hello, this problem has really confuzzled me. I have just bought a new wireless USB adapter, ran it through the setup entered the password etc. Fine. Nicely connects to the router everytime (well ok most the time). But it cant seem to find the internet, which i know is there because my house mate has no problems with it. I've read quite a few complaints about this adapter. Is it worth just returning it and trying a different one? Or does anyone have any ideas?

It finds the submask, ip address, sets a channel automatically. One thing i noticed though is it doesnt create a gateway. (i asume cos i cant find the net). I did have internet before but they were wired. I've since then disabled the normal ethernet adapter and disabled the old connections. So i dont think theres anything conflicting.

Please help?!!
Thank you in advance i really appreciate it.

Answer:Belkin Wireless adapter - can connect to the adapter, but not the internet!!!

I'm going to guess that the IP address that it finds is 169.254.x.x and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0, right? It's really NOT connecting to the router, which is why you don't have a Default Gateway or DNS servers.

You don't have to disable the wired interface to connect wirelessly, there's no conflict.

I'd suggest you first disable the encryption and see if it connects. If it does, then you need to make sure you enter matching passwords for the encryption on each end. Note that for WEP you should ONLY use the HEX password, do not use the passcode option.
Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

The name of your ISP and country of residence.
Make/model of the broadband modem. If dial-up, please specify.
Make/model of the router (if any).
Connection type, wired, wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc.)
Make/model of network card or wireless adapter.
Make/model of your computer (motherboard if home-built).
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP-Home (or XP-Pro), SP2.

Hello guys recently I was using the internet connecting through broadband using a wireless router but using cables instead of a wireless adapter. This was working fine. Then all of a sudden the connection dropped and I have not been able to connect again. It seems that the on board network card had gone. So I decided It was time to get wireless bought my adapter installed it, the adapter was recongnized by Windows showed up as active on the system. So I finally went to set up my wireless connection through Wireless netowrk wizard, but only got as far as the point where It asked me to plug in my flash drive and select it when it is populated in the list. But it never showed up. Which is odd. On my computer it shows up as a D drive but Network wizard cant see it. I have tried it in all 4 USB ports and the same thing happens. Anyway I thought I would un-install my usb drivers but now windows cant recognize my USB ports. As I cant connect to the net Im a bit stuck!HELP

I just installed Windows 7 64-bit from Vista(32 bit) and I'm having a bit of trouble getting my wireless network adapter up and running. The model number is WMP54GX from Linksys. I've googled the issue and most people have suggestions, but the problem is my computer isn't even registering the adapter. There is nothing under network adapter and under unidentified devices there is only "Ethernet Controller" "PCI Simple Communications Controller" and "Unknown Device". I tried searching for drivers online (connecter via an extremely long ethernet cable at the moment). Most people suggest using Ralink drivers and installing after an unknown "Network Adapter" shows up, but for me no even this is happening. Are one of the other options the network adapter?

Wireless setup....

You have a wireless modem/router? Do you have a wireless 'g' or 'n' card in PC? or a USB wireless adapter? Both of those will need to have software installed, but you will have got that on a cd included. But you have to do the setup with the Ethernet (CAT5e) connected first. When you have followed the instructions that came with the modem /router, you switch off PC, unplug Ethernet cable, switch on PC, and the Wireless adapter in PC will find ALL the wireless modem/routers in your area. You select yours from the list, and enter the password, you will be connected to your own modem after that.

I just reformatted my laptop earlier and now my wireless adapter isnt working. Ive downloaded the software from the manufacturers site and it still isnt working. I unzipped the folder and right clicked "Install" and got the error message "the inf file you selected does not support this method of installation". So i went to my device manager and updated my driver manually but it still isnt working. The driver isnt dead because im on the same laptop atm using an ethernet cable. Also, my wlan button on the top of my laptop doesnt work either. Hopefully one of you guys know what i need to do or have some ideas that might work. All help will be greatly appreciated.
P.S my wireless adapter is a Broadcom NetLink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet and the number i needed to find, to figure out which file to download is 1693.

Have you tried connecting via Ethernet cable, then checking for Windows updates to see if any "optional" updates are available? Oftentimes, you can download needed drivers that way.

What's the make and model# of your computer?

Hello Seven Forums. Been a while since I had to come here for help.

I am recently having strange crap happening to me with my wireless adapter. In just the last few days, this has started happening.

I am downloading stuff from websites (sites I trust), and then my wireless goes into limited mode (which is normal for stupid wireless), but when I try to go disable it in the Adapter screen, the wireless USB adapter refuses to disable, and I am forced to force restart my PC with the reset button because Windows refuses to finish "Shutting Down" in the process of shutting down (even if letting it sit there for a few minutes). What the hell is going on with my stupid PC? It refuses to disable my wireless USB, and forced to "force close" the little box that says it is disabling the device. I am getting sick of this garbage!

Hi: The Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi M.2 Adapter is a single band wireless N card with bluetooth. No AC capability. But I agree that either the product specs for your model are incorrect, or HP stuck the wrong card in your notebook. If the specs are correct then you should probably have gotten the Intel 3165 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (1x1) and Bluetooth® 4.0 combo. I looked up the parts list for your model, but there is no info provided when I enter the product number. http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=P0U53EA I suggest you contact HP and get a definite answer as to what wireless card your notebook should have.

Hello. First time. Installed Windows 7 on two home-network computers. Everything appeared to be good, including networking, but I could not access printers (linked through each computer) with the opposite computer. Windows update offered an update for the Broadcom 802.11n network adapter, but when I installed the update I completely lost the network. I had to revert to the old driver in order to reestablish the network. But the printers still are not recognized. The network adapter on the secondary computer is a Linksys WMP300N.

I did try turning the router off for ten seconds with the updated driver but that had no effect.

Anyone had this problem? TIA

Answer:Broadcom 802.11n network adapter

I had the same thing happen, but with a windows update of the driver. I also was able to recover by rolling back the driver in the device manager. The update was dated, but I did not think to note it before I reverted. It was not in my update list a few weeks ago.

Hi there.

I doubt whether that's a Windows problem -- when running Macrium reflect though it depends on whether you are using a stand alone version in which case if you want to have network connectivity it may need to load extra drivers.

For example I had to load RAID driver software on to my copy of the bootable Macrium software so it could recognize my HDD's -- no probelm usually though.

If you don't need connectivity to a network when taking backups just ignore message.

Cheers
jimbo

Hello, I am helping a friend with an issue on their HP Pavilion dv9410us running Vista 32 Home Premium. Basically, their wireless adapter is working inconsistently. Sometimes, when you pull up the Device Manager, the adapter is listed, but sometimes it is not. There is an on/off switch which has an orange indicator when the adapter is off, and a blue light when it is on. When the device is not listed, the light remains orange no matter how you turn the switch. Also, the tray icon for wireless networks will vanish completely when the adapter is not detected. 90% of the time, the computer simply appears to have no LAN adapter installed, but the rest of the time, it works without issue. Sometimes restarting the computer will help it, but generally it seems to come and go as it pleases. It's the factory adapter, I know it's a Broadcom, but not sure of a model number. I've tried reinstalling the drivers to no avail. I installed an external USB adapter and it works fine, but they are a nuisance and certainly not an ideal solution. Does anyone have any suggestions or am I missing anything obvious?

Thank you in advance!

Answer:Integrated Broadcom LAN adapter comes and goes?

Have you tried removing the device via Device Manager...and then reinstalling it with the appropriate HP drivers?

I have a HP Pavillion tx1210us laptop running Vista Home Premium 32bit.

I was using my WiFi without problems for months with IE8, then suddenly last week I have no WiFi connection. My Network Connection did not list any WiFi adapters. I ran the Network Connection diagnostic program and it said "no wifi adapter recognized or configured" ... or something like that. In the Programs and Features area I list the Broadcom 802.11 Wireless LAN adapter, but the Broadcom 4321 AG 802.11 a/b/g/draft-n Wi-Fi adapter is missiing in Device Manager. Both my 6TO4 Adapters have yellow triangles w/ !'s inside. All drivers are up to date.
I tried uninstalling the Broadcom 4321 WiFi adapter and reinstalling it. I removed my Bit Defender antivirus program completely. Nothing fixed it. I restored my computer to a point listed as one week ago which fixed it once for that session, but when I rebooted my computer, I was without the WiFi adapter again. After... Read more

Hello
I am not having network issues but, when I run Macrium Reflect it says, "Click here to update the network adapter."

It seems to sense my network adapter is not adequate to use a network if I were to choose to do so.

Is this an indication my Windows 10 Pro has a driver that needs updating although I do not use a network for Macrium?

I went to Broadcom but the driver was for Win 8. I tried to update in device manager but it said I have the latest driver.

Answer:Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi M.2 adapter

Hi: There is nothing wrong with the wireless card or your notebook. That model card is a single band 2.4 GHz only card. Hint:  Any time you see a card with a suffix of bgn, that means it is a single band card. Dual band cards have a suffix of abgn or agn. Unfortunately, it looks like it is very difficult to replace the wireless card in your model, or I would have recommended that you replace the card with a dual band model that has bluetooth. Plus doing the job yourself would void the warranty according to the manual on the user guides section for your notebook.

When I purchaed my 3 laptops from HP, One of the reasons I bought them was that is said they had the Broadcom 802.11n Network adapter.  When I pull up network properties it shows connect using Broadcom 802.11n Broadcom network adapter. If you select that and hit the configure button and then details does it show the Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi M.2 Adapter.  Why the subversion from HP is this major detail hidden in the weeds?

I've been having an issue with my wireless network adapter. It's a D-Link WDA-2320 Wireless G Network Adapter. I've tried talking to their tech support but they've been no help at all (because apparently all their solutions only deal with signal strength being the problem....). So I figured I'd go to a forum for some help.

About a month ago I was using a D-Link DWL-520+ Wireless B Network Adapter for just regular gaming/internet needs. In between playing games like Left 4 Dead or WoW I had no issues at all. Same with going on websites such as youtube. Then just one day something happened, no clue on what exactly. I was getting extremely high latency and it was taking at least 3+ minutes to load simple websites such as the Facebook login page.

I just figured that the card I was using was getting old on me considering I've had it for at least 5 years. So I went out and bought a WDA-2320 Wireless G. Put the card in and installed the software. Despite having 65-75 signal strength my speed is still the same, incredibly slow. Even when I put my tower PC Tower next to the router at 100% signal strength it's still extremely slow.

No settings were changed for my router at all between perfectly fine connection to a complete joke. Connection is fine for my laptop which is just good for internet and running microsoft office for projects, far away from the router and close to it. Change in hardware didn't help at all.

Is it just that my computer is getting old? I... Read more

Ok I have the Dlink Rangebooster N router and notebook card from Newegg recently. I have the router up and running perfectly. I have a laptop with internal wireless connecting at 270 but I have another desktop I built using a Rosewill PCMCIA adapter to use the N notebook adapter on the new computer. Problem is that the new computer is only connecting at 54 which is G speeds. Is there some sort of setting on the notebook card somewhere that tells it to use g or n? Right now the router is using WPA-TPIK (pardon if wrong arrangement of letters) and is mixed g and n. I set it to N only and the new desktop will not even recognize the router so something is up with the notebook adapter or maybe the PCMCIA adapter will only allow g speeds.

Lately I suspect that my PC's [HP H8-1214 HPE Series] wireless adapter is going bad or dislodged. My network connection is going in and out while other devices in my household are getting connections just fine.
Out of curiousity, on several occasions, I bumped my PC a few times to see if my connection would change and a few times it instantly connected... other times it didn't, however.
I'd just like to know where I can find the adapter in my PC, if it's easily acessible, easy to replace, easy to install etc. Or if I should just drop it off at the local Tech store for $80 bucks and let them work it out.

Answer:Need information on wireless adapter issues

According to the HP web site, you have a PCIe card with the network adapter.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03154290&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
That being the case, you should be able to get a replacement and do it pretty easily.  If you do it yourself, just remember to keep yourself grounded so you don't zap a component with a static charge.

Good luck.

Looking for some insight into whether I need a new wireless adapter or if this is a windows 10 issue.  The Pavilion laptop I have is loosing wireless connectivity due to a locked up wireless adapter (Ralink RT3290). When this happens, I cannot physically turn off the adapter using the key ie. it stays blue regardless how many times pressed, but will switch to Airplane mode.  When this happens, the Network Centre does not show a wireless adapter or any networks.  I have been able to get this back on line with a hard reset, but it eventually locks-up gain.   The computer is slow to boot and ocassionally freezes even when wireless card seems functional.  When it freezes there is no mouse activity and I cannot start the Task Manager. Sometimes I regain function and sometimes it restarts.  Any help is appreciated.

Okay, So I'm having some issues with my H520s. The wireless adapter has been quite dodgy for the past month or so, but after using lenovo rescue to get it back to 'original condition' it's completely stopped working. I've looked through device manager and there's no mention of a wireless adapter, and any attempt to install drivers has done nothing. Before this, I'd have to use the Network Tasks> Repair network (or simmilar) after every startup in order to get wireless working.I have no files on the computer I need to keep, so formatting it to fix it is fine. I just want my wireless back ;_; If you need any more information, please ask, and I'll get back to you as soon as I see it. Hope you can help ^^ EDIT: Oh, also,Said computer is running Windows 8, preinstalled. (Listed as 'Win 8 MM' on the side, incase that means anything special)

Answer:H520s Wireless adapter issues

Hi llharry,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
If your device manager is not showing your Wifi under device manager / Network adapters.
It may be having issue with the driver and may show as Network Controller or unknown device with
 a yellow sign on it.
If not then It may had been disabled inside BIOS.

Try Booting into BIOS by shutting down the computer and turning it back On and tapping F1 .
Once Inside BIOS look under Configuration TAB and or under Network setup
Look for an option saying Wireless lan or Wireless adapter.
Make sure it is enabled then save and exit.

Regards
Solid Cruver

Alright I just built my gf a pc so she could play Aion. I always bring my laptop over there and we tend to look stuff up, and I can play Ragnarok Online or Guild wars fine on her internet. Whenever she tries to play either game it always disconnects no matter what. Now we got a Newegg.com - LINKSYS WMP300N IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g, Draft IEEE 802.11n 32-bit PCI Interface High-speed Wireless-N Wireless Adapter Up to 256-bit wireless encryption - Wireless Adapters for the adapter. I cannot think of anything else it could be beside the wireless adapter. When the pc was still at my house after I had finished it, it worked perfectly fine playing the Aion Beta event. We appreciate any help people could give. She payed a decent amount for this machine and if we can't even get it working then I'd feel terrible. I apologize if this is the wrong place to post such a thread but I don't know what else to do.

I've recently bought a new network adapter after eliminating my old one as the cause of my extremely slow/weak signal problems. Now the speed & reception is much higher, howEVER, it seems like every single time I turn on the computer, the adapter is flagged as an "unrecognised USB device" by Win7, so I have to go into "Adapter Settings" and "Disable/Enable" just to get the thing to work. There is the rare occasion when I don't have to do that but lets say 8/10 times, I have to reset the thing just so Windows can "see it". This is ofcourse, with the driver fully installed.

Does anyone know how I can just make the thing work as intended? This wasn't mentioned in the manual LOL!

The adapter is a TP-Link (USB 2 device in a USB 2 port), OS: Win7 Ultimate 64bit.

Thanks!

I'm not totally computer-literate when it comes to hardware and such, but I am fairly literate with most computer terms. So in advance, I apologize for any confusion a misused hardware name may cause.

Also, before I begin, let me just say that the issues hereafter discussed apply to a computer separate from this one. This computer works fine, but the one I will be talking about, my computer, is the one without an internet connection at the moment.

So recently, my network adapter decided to stop working. I won't go into the details, but it's completely fried, and I'd much rather spend the money to get a new one instead of go through the hassel of trying to fix my old one. And thus we come to question number one:

Do most (if not all) network adapter cards work with most PCs? I have a Dell Dimension 4500 with Windows XP Home edition with highspeed cable internet, so would pretty much any network adapter do the job? My stepdad, who is fairly computer-literate (though often too cocky about it) says that pretty much all network adapters will work with any computer, unless the computer and network adapter are old or new, respectively. Also, what are the most reliable brands of network adapters? What kind of details about the product should I look for when purchasing?

Now on to the second part of my post: wireless internet adapter. For a while, my computer has been a few feet from the router because we had/have no way for a cord to reach anywhere else, particu... Read more

Hello! Recently we've bought the second laptop. Today we've tested speed of our wi-fi connection. On my old laptop receiving speed was about 60 Mbit/s and outgoing speed about 80 Mbit/s. But on my new laptop it was a lot less - 25Mbit and 34 Mbit. We've tried to reinstall the drivers but it never helped. Could you please give me any suggestions what I can to do to increase the wi-fi speed. Best regards,Olena

Guys,

I upgraded my windows 7 beta last night to the RC1 release. The only issue i am having is that now my wireless driver is not working correctly.

under the device manager the error is "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)"

I am using a macbook pro with bootcamp on it, the initial beta public release of Windows 7 picked up the drivers fine. For some reason after upgrading i can get no wireless though. I have tried downloading vista drivers, and just about everything i can think of. I also downloaded the Bootcamp Vista 32 Update from mac, but it did not resolve the problem either.

Was it intended that this laptop comes with a wifi adapter that is unable to reach hardly any hotspots???  This card is a as big of a joke as lenovo's whitelist for wifi cards...  I'm currently tethered to my phone through my laptop because my phone can actually find wifi signal.  The broadcom card can find about 9 hotspots for a total of 1 second when the card first comes online, then it can't find ANY hotspots...  I mean, my iphone 1st gen was able to reach these hotspots from the same place.  My t61 which is ancient in comparison will connect to these hotspots all day and faster than the g50-80 can....  Is this normal, or did broadcom trick lenovo into buying the worst wifi cards made?  I've had better success using a $3 china usb wifi adapter than with this junk card...  It's pathetic that this is what lenovo considers up to the whitelist standards. I can't think of 1 single stretch of a reason for this card to preform so poorly out of factory box other than lenovo dropping the ball.  I have to say, after this recent purchase I'm really wishing I got an Asus laptop...  At least an asus laptop wouldn't make me spend an entire day trying to configure the internal card to actually find any wifi and force me to tether to my phone...  I've only owned lenovo laptops in the past, and this is by far the worst built one yet.

Hi,
my Lenovo S10e Netbook features a Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter Hardware ID DEV_4315 wich used to work perfectly under Win7 7000.

After having installed the RC it sais the driver could not be initialised. Deleting and restarting etc. did not help, Winupdate sais: driver is up to date.

Searching Broadcom's website left me even more confused.....
any help appreciated!

Answer:Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter fails under RC

I have had a few problems with this broadcom adaptor myself.

When I downloaded the optional update for the driver via Windows 7 update system, it seems to stop working properly just really slow like 5kb/sec.

I have not completely figured out how to get it work to its full potential but its working faster now.

Go to your control panel>system and security>system>device manager

expand network adaptors>broadcom 802.11g network adaptor >rightclick_properties>click_driver_tab>click_roll back driver.

This wil take it it to its previously installed driver, restart the sytem and see if that works, it did for me.

Im on 35kb/sec now, really weak wireless signal but its better than nothing

I dont understand how downloading the proper driver makes it not work, stupid!

Hope this helps!!!

Recently, after returning from being out of town for a week, I discovered my wireless router was not working.  After attempting to reconnect with no luck I purchased a new router today.   I successfully connected the modem, router and pc and attempted to run the software for the wireless NetGear router.  Here is the message I get: No Adapter  The Ethernet adapter is either disabled or no Ethernet adapter is installed on this computer. Either enable or add an Ethernet adapter and run the application again. In checking the adapter in Device Manager it IS ENabled.   Using the Thinkvantage Productivity Center I updated the adapter and I still get the same message.  Obviously the wired connection is working (as I'm here!). Any suggestions? NOTE:  While I was away I used TETHER between my BlackBerry and laptop to connect to the internet.  I noticed, of course there is a new TETHER adapter listed in Device Manager.  I have disabled that in case it was having some affect on the Broadcom, but that made no difference.

Hello there,I really hope you can help me with this problem as I've been dealing with it for the last 2 weeks and have become hopeless...My brother recently had problems with his internet, so he gave it to me to solve the problem. His laptop is an HP Pavillion dv9005us with Windows XP SP2.The first time i looked at the laptop, I noticed that there was no connect-to menu in the start menu, and that there was no wireless network connection icon in the right-bottom corner. So I looked up which wireless network adapter he was using, and it comes actually in the laptop, but the device manager did not show any missing network device, neither did it show any network device (other than the1394 net adapter). The missing  device is a Broadcom 802.11 Wireless Network Adapter. I had no idea what happened, but I downloaded the network adapter driver setup from hp's support website, and used that. It did not work, so I decided to reformat the PC. After I formated the harddrive and reinstalled Windows XP I also reinstalled the network driver, and it worked. However, after I shut down and turned on the laptop, it didn't appear again! Same problem as before, the PC does not detect the wireless network adapter. Then again I shutdown and turned on the PC and it worked again. So I formated everything again, but the problem remained. So the only other thing I checked was the BIOS. I have a gateway 3520gz with a Broadcom BCM94318mpg wireless card

The trouble is that i can't seem to get it installed. once in a while the computer detects it and shows it as already installed. sometimes there's no trace of it. When i unplugged the card and plugged it back in, plug-and-play identified and installed it and then prompted me to restart. After restarting ... there was no trace of the device again.

broadcom does not supply drivers for the card, gateway does not either. I found some drivers online and tried to use them but their installation applications don't work either. If i got to Add/Remove Hardware in the control panel and try adding it with "have disk" i fthe .inf file but it doesn't seem to read it because the "next" button stays grayed-out and there is no device on the list to select.

Let me first start by saying what put me in this position is pure stupidity mixed with a little ignorance. Please, be gentle. I wanted to format but I could not find my vista cds so I just took my XP cd from a past desktop(also Dell). Yes, I see in hind sight that was a bad idea. Nevertheless, I had the Vista cds sent to me from Dell. I formatted back to Vista and saw that a driver was not functioning. I sent my computer through the gauntlet of the dell diagnostics that took a little over an hour and nothing was found wrong. I continued to use the drivers online and on the vista cd to reinstall the "Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter" driver. Nothing seems to work.

I do not know if this helps, but it did work in the past, I have had the laptop for roughly a year.

I believe this is used for wireless internet, since that is the only thing not working. There is a way for me to "turn on the wireless internet,"using Function+F2, but when I use that combination like I have in the past, the light does not light up next to Caps Lock and Scroll Lock, etc.. Please, if anything needs clarification, I will gladly answer any questions. I know the answer will be simple, but I just don't know it. Thanks.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 Notebook. Everything I have complained about I was able to do before I chose to format with XP and it came pre-installed from Dell. I can connect through the internet, but only through a wired connection.

Answer:Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter Issue

When I changed my laptop it came with Vista, when I tried to use my Broadcom adaptor the monitoring tool that used to sit in the bottom bar is no longer there as it was under XP.
It looks as if the monitoring tool is not supported under Vista.
The adaptor still works though, just disable your internal wireless card if you have one and the computer should automatically display the new Broadcom connection in your network settings.
Hope this helps
