Toshiba Satellite Pro Laptop and Wi-Fi Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card

Question: Toshiba Satellite Pro Laptop and Wi-Fi Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card

when using the above card, and TRENDnet TEW-311BRP WireLess Broadband Router, I cannot get a stable connection.

It always connect and disconnect me.

I use this machine and card all over the world: airports, hotels, offices and it works great.

I asked the dealer to replace the 311. Same problem.

However, if I stick TRENDnet PCMCIA card and disable the Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card, I connect w/o disconnections.

any idea?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

My wireless card is Realtek 8187B and it seems that it doesn't work properly because it can't detect any wireless network. Do I need some external PCI card to get this card to work? My OS is Windows XP and the card has drivers installed on it.

i recently reformatted my hard drive on my laptop but didnt think to backup the drivers, so basically, all of them were lost. i managed to restore all of them but the wireless network card/adapter. im not sure what cards were installed before, but im pretty sure it was a dell truemobile wireless card. i can still access the internet through an ethernet hookup. is there a way to download the network adapter/card? i havent been able to find one to install...or is there a way to find out what driver is needed when it isnt installed

Answer:wireless network card for a Toshiba Satellite 1405-S151 laptop

If this is the proprietary wireless that came with the Toshiba Satellite, that is easy to find online.
If it is a wireless card you installed, and therefore have, you can look at the numbers on the card, then do a google search with those model numbers to discover there the drivers can be located.
Be sure your old drivers are removed from the Devices list in Hardware in Control Panel.

Hello, I would like to know if the the Toshiba mini PCI is a standart mini pci bus.

The reason is that I would like to upgrade my A80-131 with a bluetooth card, I saw in the manual this option but I don?t find a correct toshiba mini-pci card.

So, if the mini-pci bus is a standard bus and the card have windows drivers, I could buy a standart bluetooth card and install it in my laptop?.

Thanks.

I have a Toshiba TE2100 laptop with wirless card built-in. The laptop also have at the left side a switch that allows to turn ON or OFF the wireless function. The computer also have a front red light that should flash when the wireless is activated. My computer is attached to a wireless network based on a wireless router LINKSYS 802.11g WUSB54G. The computer runs under Windos XP professional SP3
The problem is as follow:
When I start using Internet I would expect the wireless adapater (Mini PCI card built in ) worked just identifying my network and I would be able to search through internet, but unfortunately nothing happen: the front red light is not flashing when the wireless switch in the left is turned ON
Woking around with possible solutions:
I went to device manager and the device is hidden, so I have to use the view option to reach it, then I tried to update the driver, and the driver wizard just says that the device is working properly. Once I update the driver, it says windows did not find a better driver that the one installed.
Questions:
Should I do something else? Do I missing something in order to activate the wireles card?.

Thank you in advance. Any help it will be graetly appreciated

Hi everyone,
This is my first question to Techspot.
Can anyone advise me which Mini PCI wireless card would be compatible for my Toshiba 1410-303 laptop? I've got a hunch that I shouldn't just rush out and get the latest card. I am about to setup a wireless network with a desktop PC running XP and using a Netgear 54 MBPS wireless ADSL2+ modem router.
Thanks (in anticipation), Creyke

I have an older laptop running Windows 98 and would like to add a wireless (Belkin) card. The computer is a Toshiba Satellite 2595CDT, purchased in 1998 or 1999. Product specifications are located here in pdf format but I'm really not sure what to look for: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/...BV_EngineID=ccchaddljkedfjecgfkceghdgngdgmn.0

I have someone interested in buying this computer from me and I don't know how to answer their question. Help!

Answer:Toshiba Satellite 2595CDT and Wireless Card

The laptop accepts "PC Cards" of both 16 and 32 bit.

However, you are really looking at the wrong end, you need to find a wireless card that will work on Windows 98.

Note that there are differences in Windows 98 and Windows 98SE in this regard, many devices such as wireless cards need 98SE, but also some need later versions of Windows (2000 or better).

You need therefore to determine if anyone makes a wireless card for Windows 98 (the specifications do not refer to Windows 98SE). SE means Second Edition.

So the laptop will physically take a Wireless PC Card, but will the operating system (Windows 98) work with the specific "Belkin" card you mention?

Hello to all!!

I've an old laptop, one toshiba satellite S300CDS 2.1GB, I don't use it since a lot of years, but now, I want to prepare it for my father who wants to start learning computing. The laptop is working fine with windows 98, but I would like to connect to internet. At home we have a wifi network, so I would like to connect it to this network. Could it be possible? Perhaps using some kind of pcmcia wireless card? and in this case, which model would work for this issue?

I'll appreciate very much your feedback and help about this issue.
Thanks very much for you atenttion and interest!

Best regards,

We purchased a Toshiba Satellite CM30-107 Laptop with integral wireless.

We connected to Wanadoo Broadband following their instructions which required loading their CD and plugging in their USB external modem for the intial setup.

Success connected to Broadband. You are then supposed to alter Laptop settings and configure 108.1x network wireless.

Have followed Toshiba's PC help, tried to configure using the same WEP key and 108.1x but cannot get it to connect to Broadband.

Any ideas out there please.

Answer:Wireless Internet connection for Toshiba Satellite Laptop

Look on the corner of the base of the laptop and make sure the wi-fi or wireless card in enabled. It might be switched off. .. Other then that go Start(windows flag bottom left)>Control Panel>Network and Internet>Network and Sharing Center>Under Tasks on the top left click Manage Network Connections. If the wireless Adpter is listed in there right click it and you should be able to see if it enabled or disabled. if it disabled, it might be a corupt driver. Maybe doing a system recovery if you check both of those things.

Hey guys im back again...I just bought a brand new Satellite today at the local best buy and it had windows 8.1 installed...i opened the box, didnt even bother turning it on and began removing the hard drive so i can put in the solid state from my old satellite...also formatted and installed a clean copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. The first problem is i cannot connect to a network either on wireless or wired. I have checked the Toshiba website and downloaded a few different drivers but they arent installing...not real sure whats going on. I havent ran into a problem where it just wont install...maybe its a fluke, idk.

The biggest thing is that i cant seem to figure out the make/model of the card installed in this laptop. It seems as though Toshiba put 3 different cards in this model depending on which config you get. I used speccy to try and look it up...but since there are no drivers installed it doesnt know either, it sees it, but cannot tell me what it is.

The laptop model number is:
Satellite C55D-A5108

The laptop part number is:
PSCFWU-04C031

Thanks as usual for any and all help. I will continue searching myself...i cant just sit idle...

Answer:Wireless/Network Card Drivers - Toshiba Satellite C55D-A5108

Murd3d mate where did you get the OS from ie did you buy an OEM or retail version?

First of all this are the driver downloads Drivers & Software Support | Toshiba

Now there are three that I can see and we need to establish which card is in that machine.
To do that look at this

Using HW Info

You can test the volts on the PSU with HWInfo HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 -Download < download the right bit version andclose the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power sectionwhere you will see what the volts are doing see my pic.

The original right hand window shows themachine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use themain left hand side panel

Open each + down into the componentitself and then click on it - in theright hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds andother essential info that device. See pic for example.
Thsi I did up for volts on the PSU but in the pic you can open out in your case the Network + and see the wifi adaptors and see what is in the machine as we need to know the brand that the driver sis for.

Answer:Toshiba satellite laptop doesn't have view wireless networks

Click Start.

Click Run.

In the Run box type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.

Click the + next to the pane Network Adapters so it expands, showing all installed hardware.

Take a screenshot of this window and attach the file in your next post.

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

If you have no internet connection on the problem PC, transferring the screenshot via flashdrive or CD to a working computer is possible. If this is not practical for you, a detailed listing of the requested information will suffice, along with reports of any ! ? or X's next to the entries.

Hi,

I am planning to get a Click Mini. It is great as a 8.9 inch tablet/laptop with lots of battery.
The hardware is exactly what I am looking for.
But I need a dual OS tablet.
So I'd like to install Android on an SD card.

But with my Asus tablet, I am not able to use Android with all drivers working. For example display was very hard to match. And now wifi is not working.

Has anyone tried Android X86 on Click Mini ?

Thanks.

Answer:Android on Toshiba Satellite Click Mini L9W-B

I found that the Ubuntu Magic stick booted into Android OK. I think that the touch screen driver worked, but I was also able to use a USB hub, mouse and keyboard.

I recall the wifi, and dock keyboard and mouse didn't work.

I think if you built a kernel* with the required wifi driver, you'd probably get that working OK, along with the dock's keyboard and mouse. However, the Realtek SDIO driver seems to make it unstable. I've used a mini usb WiFi adaptor that's sold for use with a Raspberry-Pi, it's Ralink, and the firmware is easy to get for it.

So far though I've still not got suspend and resume to work - the power button doesn't seem to do anything, probably because ACPI isn't registering devices correctly - and without suspend and resume an Android tablet is going to need external power and/or recharging quite a lot.

Although I'd like to be able to boot into Android, at the moment my focus has been on getting Linux to completely work (particularly suspend/resume and sound. I can live without a camera).

Oh, and because the kernel sees the internal card slot as read-only, you have to install linux onto the internal flash or a card in the dock's card slot, the former means starving Windows of storage space, the latter means not being able to use it just as a linux tablet. Oh, undocking and redocking doesn't work, the keyboard and touchpad stop working - I think the I2C driver doesn't like the connected devices disappearing!

My toshiba click2 mini stopped working so I reset it and tried everything even burning windows 10 and 8 to several usb drives to reinstall windows but when I boot into the windows settings it doesn't respond I can't touch the screen to change options or go forward using the key board .

the reason why Ive been trying to reinstall windows is because when I get to the windows 10 setting screen I enter my WiFi and English settings then the pc says please wait and a minute later the screen flashes black and it restarts and I have to enter the settings again I've reset it several times the pc do sent restart if i leave the choose language park on the screen .

toshiba want 80 pounds just to reinstall windows but I don't know how they are going to do it if I can't

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Click 2 Mini - Cannot reinstall Windows OS

So you have re-installed Windows successfully, but when it boots to "first time" settings wizard where you enter the computer name, user name, wifi settings, etc. you can't use the touch screen or keyboard? I've had this issue before as well. If you've done a fresh install of Windows then the drivers for the keyboard and touch screen aren't available. The only way around this is to plug in a USB keyboard. I can't remember exactly but I don't think the full-size USB port on the keyboard dock works until the driver is installed, so you may have to get a USB On The Go adapter so you can plug a full-size USB keyboard in to the microUSB port on the tablet.

Just noticed that the replacement Click Mini I recieved from Amazon has stripped screws on the keyboard dock. I did wonder why there were two Toshiba seals, looks like it's been opened at the factory (possibly related to the battery issues with this model) and they have used the wrong size screwdriver. Can anyone from Toshiba confirm my unit will still be covered by warranty? Otherwise it will be going back to Amazon... again....

Answer:Stripped screws - Toshiba Satellite Click Mini L9W-B

Problem is that nobody from Toshiba will confirm anything. It is user to user forum only.
If you got non original boxed device and discovered that something may be modifies my advice is to send the machine back.

Buy original boxed products only.

Sorry but that’s all I can say about that.

I have this laptop for about five months.

At first everything was working fine. But suddenly a problem appeared with the loading of the screen battery, no matter how long I charge it, it stays stuck at 80 percent. So I can only get 40% overall battery now...

Since one of the main reasons I bought this laptop was its long battery life, this is a big problem for me...

If anyone could suggest any fixes for this, it would be much appreciated!

I just bought a click mini. I am trying to enter the BIOS.

In the manual and everywhere else I've read, it says to restart or power up pressing FN + F2.

I have tried holding them whilst powering on. I have tried powering on then pressing these. I have tried powering on, holding them for a second then letting them go, exactly as it says in the manual.

Whatever I do, it goes straight passed and into the windows login.

Someone please enlighten me how you're supposed to get into the BIOS.

Cheers

it only displayes the camera screen, and it has to be unlocked.
when i touch the unlock button on the screen the computer turns off/sleep state.
because when i touch the touchpad i get the screensaver.
then i can enter the camera screen by going from above to under on the screen,
and by going from under to above it turns off/sleep state.
the windows button on the keyboard and on the ipad don"t respond.
so to me it seems the unlock button doesn"t function correct and
i can"t enter the windows/desktop screen anymore.

maybe u know the solution for this !

Could the problem be dust? Check the vents for dust, hair & other debris. Do NOT blow air INTO the computer.

When did the computer last work well? When did the problem begin? Sometimes the exact date is important.

What changed; a hardware or software installation or removal; an update to W7 [ check your W7 update history ] or update to your anti malware or other antimalware program / programs ]; an update to Java or an Adobe program for example?

Do you refer to overall computer performance or internet surfing performance?

If overall performance, start the computer in safe mode. Report the results.

If surfing performance, use IE9 with no add ons.

I had purchased this device from amazon. Below is a brief history and the issues with the dock battery.

Initially turned the tablet on (while connected to dock) - Took over 30 minutes to charge it. I assume this was because of the battery being discharged. (Thankfully it did eventually start charging)In Windows 8.1. the dock battery was showing as 100% and the tablet battery was rising as it was being charged. The 100% seems to have been an issue with the installed bios on the machine (Which was showing 100%, when it was empty in reality)Updated the bios to V5. Now the dock battery was showing as 0%.Upgraded to windows 10

No amount of charging would charge the keyboard battery. Once the tablet was at 100%, it would give the status of "not charging" for battery 2.

I tried the following

Kept the device connected overnight on 2 occasions (But bear in mind this was for around 10 hours only) - perhaps 24 hours may do the trick? but could not do this as I did not want to risk keeping a device charged while I was at work. Will try this in the weekend.Turned off the device fully and then charged overnight (This would show the two status indicators for the batteries and did show a charge icon next to the second battery, but no change in battery status)Attempted to remove the dock battery. kept it removed (took out connection to circuitboard) for 30 minutes, then reconnected it to the tablet and power, but no change.Attempted to power the device via low powered u... Answer:Toshiba Satellite Click mini - Dock battery dead on arrival

Ok partially solved the issue via dismantling the device.

I pried open the tablet taking care not to break the ribbons that are connected to either side.
Swapped the batteries over.
Put the tablet on charge (with the fully depleted battery)
it started charging (power adaptor also got warm)
Left it for an hour or so (was then at 55% battery life)
swapped back the batteries

The issue still here is that when the tablet is fully charged 100% and in the keyboard dock. I assume the keyboard dock will then get charged. Unfortunately it is mentioning.. Not charging....

Hello Guys!

I am having a perhaps unique problem while trying to install Windows 7 in my Mini Toshiba Netbook.

Error message: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu."

Details: Toshiba NB505-N508BL using an external USB DVD Drive with a clean and working copy of Windows 7 32 Bits (I used this ISO before without any issues).

Troubleshooting steps:

1: Tried with 2 different hard drives.
2: Booting priority is correctly set
3: Bios was set to default values and AHCI is properly set in the Bios instead of SATA

Still, same error message...

What else could be wrong? faulty motherboard? hard disk cable connection? or do I simply need the original Windows 7 disk that came with the mini laptop? (I don't think so). Or perhaps I am missing an extra step in the Bios?

Any ideas or suggestions?

my toshiba mini (NB500) won't connect to the internet even though it says that i have network connectivity. even updates won't install. i have a free version of avast and something has disabled the web shield protection. even windows firewall is not coming on. it comes on and then goes back off. everything is working in terms of network adapter etc. even the wifi looks just fine. i had my ISP come over and check the connection and they worked on it for 30min then they said that i have some sort of virus on the laptop. when i try to scan it with avast (the virus program i have) nothing comes up. what do i do? Boot to safe mode, try to update avast & scan it. If nothing shows, download, install, update & scan with anti malware, from malwarebytes.org. If that doesn't help either, download & run Hijack This. Post the log here, if you can.How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.

When attempting to start a Toshiba mini NB205-N312/BL laptop I get the following error message almost immediately:

“windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:

\windows\system32\config\system

You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original setup CD_ROM.

Select ‘r’ at the first screen to start repair.”

If I then reboot and select windows xp setup it takes me to a error screen stating:

“a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this appears again, follow these steps:

Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run chkdsk /F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart your computer.
Technical Information:

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7A56524,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)”

At this point I decided I only wanted to reimage the laptop completely and start from scratch. However when I attach the USB CD drive and boot to the install windows XP PRO CDROM I get the same error previously indicated, after about 2 minutes of windows reading from the CDROM and loading files.

Any ideas of what is causing this and how I can reimage this device or run chkdsk?

thanks doug

Answer:Toshiba satellite P300 (-1CD) won't boot past toshiba splash screen.

Hello,

Perform the following steps:
-Remove the battery and Power adapter
-Press and hold the power button for 30-45 seconds (with battery and power still removed)
-Insert just the battery and attempt to boot the laptop.
-Insert just the power adapter and attempt to boot the laptop.

If still unsuccessful: Remember to remove battery and power before removing/installing components

-Remove the power and battery
-Remove the hard drive from the laptop and attempt to boot with the battery installed. Do you receive any error message?
-Remove the memory modules from the laptop
-Insert just the battery and attempt to start the laptop (you should receive beep error)
-Try inserting just one module of memory and test (swapping modules after each attempt)
-Remove the optical drive and test.
-Try disconnecting the CMOS battery for a few minutes then re-connect and try.

Hi,
My laptop cannot tell me any post after the Toshiba logo just black screen. Cannot get into the bios or anything... These are the things I have tried:
Taken hard drive out,
Taken ram out and only tried one..
Taken Battery Cmos battery out for a few minutes..
Had a look at the motherboard and fan is not even working when I turn it on..
I have taken the cpu and put it back in..
Defiantly Sounds like the motherboard problem but want to know if its just a chip that needs to be replaced and soldered.. If anyone has any ideas that will be awesome.

Thanks

Greetings, I am trying to update my Toshiba Satellite P50-C-11M through the Service Station, however an error occurs. Please note the laptop is roughly a week old only.

As I press install on the updates I get the following message: "The software update download operation failed. Reason: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {4991D34B-80A1-4291-83B6-3328366B9097}.

I tried the following solutions and nothing worked:
1. Updated the BIOS Independently from the Toshiba Europe Website.
2. Uninstalled the Service Station and reinstalled it again.

Thank you, and I hope this helps others too.

Hi...

I had been using Toshiba A30 for a pretty long time but I had some serious problems and contacted local Customer Support Dept... But I thought it's better to contact Toshiba Europe or Toshiba Worldwire regarding my concern...

Thanks..

Answer:Satellite A30 – Should I contact Toshiba Europe or Toshiba Worldwide?

Hi

What a strange question?.
If you have some problems with you notebook you have to contact the authorized service provider in your country.
The technicians should help you.
But listen; if your notebook is out of warranty (and I think it is) you will have to pay for the reparation!!

But what?s a problem with you unit???

I'm trying to use my Toshiba recovery disk to erase everything and reboot the whole computer. when I put in the recovery disk in, it starts the process but then it says NTLDR is missing and wont complete the process. Is there anyone out there who knows what this means and could help me with this.

My mum's got a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 with Windows 2000. It has a (Toshiba) Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card. Now I've got a sitecom wireless Broadband router and I'm trying to get internet on the laptop. I've already got it going on our desktop and my brother's laptop, but with this laptop it just won't seem to work.

The Toshiba Client manager can "see" the router, but I can't connect to it. In my Network and Dial-up Connection window, it says that for the Local area connection the network cable is unplugged.

And when I check ipconfig /all, I get the following:

Can anybody help me with this? I really don't know what to do.

I wonder if there are any Techheads out there looking for a challenge?

I have a new Toshiba LCD HDTV that I want to use as the primary and only monitor for my Toshiba Satellite laptop.

I want to eliminate the laptops screen altogether.

I would like to know if there exists a connector or some other way to connect my laptops ribbon cable output to a VGA output and then to the HDTV via a VGA cable; or if there is a better way to go?

The screen on this 4year old laptop got cracked so I have to spend at least $75.00 for parts alone and if I go that way I might as well buy another laptop, or use a desktop with a wireless keyboard which will cost more than $100.00 to set up.

Besides, this seems like a kinda cool fix so if anyone has any bright Ideas, please respond.
Thanks

HI all. I recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite M55-s331 laptop. When trying to connect it to my Comcast broadband wirelessly, it drops constantly. I have used this netgear router with Comcast b4 and never had problems. Could this be a driver problem or a known Toshiba issue. Any help is greatly appreciated.

BTW..When it drops, I get the Comcast New Customer Installation Download page.

Thanks,

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro that runs with Windows Vista. The wireless internet has stopped working, but it will work if I connect with an ethernet cable.

All of the wireless options are "on" (the switch at the front of the laptop, and the fn-f8 command for wireless). When I go into Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Map it tells me that "the adapter is not connected".

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Hi all! My first post so go easy please

I've been 'tinkering' with computers and laptops for years but this one really has me stumped. I had brought to me a Toshiba Satellite (not pro) L550-19X. The guys explanation was he could only get internet by using the ethernet cable. I took a look and this seems to be the case. The drivers for networking show as Realtek family something or other, nothing showing anything for a wireless card. I checked that the wireless card was seated properly.....it was. There is no F8 function showing in the flash cards when holding the FN key and the little wireless icon does not show in the system tray. Its running Windows 7 by the way. So, i installed a different wireless card and sure enough, the laptop detected it, installed it and Windows said it was 'ready to use'. F8 function showed in the flash cards and we had the wireless symbol in the system tray! Yey! I thought......but nope! The wireless icon has a red x through it, even after F8'ing. Wireless is enabled in BIOS and there are no issues showing in device manager. I have done a complete restore using the recovery disk supplied and there is no little switch on the front edge of the laptop, just an LED for the wireless. Sorry for the long post but I had to explain everything I had done so far. Any help on this would be very gratefully recieved.

Many thanks in advance.

My 94 year-old grandfather (YES 94) managed to delete his wireless internet settings on his Toshiba Satellite A55 laptop computer. I have been trying to walk him through getting it back up over the phone, but I am (or he is) missing something. I failed to mention I am in Ohio and he is in South Carolina so I cannot just stop on by to do this. He has Windows XP and I thought it would be just like on my Dell lap top, click on your wireless network icon and search for a local network. There is a wireless network that he is subscribed to in his nursing home but it is not detecting any networks. Any ideas as to what he may have deleted or what to look for to get him going again? Thanks in advance!

Answer:How to set up wireless internet on a Toshiba satellite A55?

First, is the wireless switched on? The switch is low on the front of a Toshiba and, I understand, easy to toggle accidentally. The LED indicating whether the wireless is switched on is red I've been told.

My Satellite M45-S331 has intermittent wireless connectivity problems. It simply stops working after awhile. It connects at first to my WEP enabled router (as do the other laptops) and then after awhile it fails. There is a system event error that reads:

Event 5005
"Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection : Has encountered an internal error and has failed."

Event 5031
"Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection :The adapter has detected an Adapter Check as a result of some unrecoverable hardware of software error. Please contact your service provider."

Event 5002
"PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection :Has determined that the adapter is not functioning properly."

The funny thing is that I tried to do a repair on the device and now it just doesn't run (shows up in device manager)

The machine is XP-Pro SP3, I had let Toshiba's wireless utility manage the connections but now I have switched back to windows WZC but the condition continues.

The driver version is:

Vendor: Intel version is 9.0.4.39 dated 12/19/2007
I had used DriverAgent to upgrade drivers in the past. I just now chose the option to roll back the driver (Surprisingly it stayed at the same revision and version) and I can now connect but I have done this before and know it will eventually drop again with the same errors listed above.

I'm pretty technical but this one has me puzzled. I can't tell if it's a driver issue or a hardware issue. ... Read more

Answer:Toshiba Satellite M45 - Wireless Failure

This is a driver or hardware issue it would seem.

I would STOP using DriverAgent and download the proper drivers directly from Toshiba for your model.

With my new network now up and running, and all devices talking to each other as they should, I probed about in the (VM supplied) Netgear Superhubs settings and discovered I can change the frequency from 2.4 to 5gz which gets me away from local interference.
My iMac, Ipad iPhone and ATV work perfectly with the setting at 5, but laptop flatly refuses to even see the network. I have a new Draytek wireless router being delivered this week and would like to use the higher setting for all devices without having to go into the admin screen and change back to 2.4 when using the lappy.
Anyone had this issue, or suggest a workaround?

Toshiba Satellite Pro running XP - I have attempted some of the other solutions and still can't seem to make it work. I have run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, when its connected via ethernet cable it shows networks when not connected nada.
I have tried deleting the wireless driver and restarting still nothing. I have tried starting it in Safe Mode and deleting the drivers but I received an error message saying those were needed for restarting.

I wonder if there isn't a problem with the router settings as seen in Lauren27 closed issue. I have a Qwest modem from CenturyLink and when I try to login to adjust the setting I get sent to a CenturyLink error page. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Please help.

Answer:Satellite A75-S211 - 2gb SD Card (Toshiba)

Hi

Please check in your user manual if your notebook?s card reader supports such cards.
If the card is supported then try this:

Remove the SD card reader from the device manager (uninstall the driver)
Reboot the notebook and install the new downloaded driver.

PS: Seems like this notebook model would belong to the US Toshiba series. Therefore you should take the drivers from the Toshiba US page

Hi folks.

Background: got a Toshiba Satellite P100 PSPA3C-SD300E from a friend. I decided that I wanted to partition the drive and just give it a clean format using my XP disc, and I'd just get the drivers off the Toshiba site since he lost his Toshiba recovery disc.

Issue: Having wiped it clean, the laptop isn't recognizing the LAN card and, by extension, the wireless card, both of which worked perfectly before the format. I have downloaded the drivers for my model from the Toshiba website - the LAN drivers don't come with an installer but I navigated through to them via Device Manager (Other Devices --> Network Controller) and attempted an install, which didn't work. Without that, the wireless driver setup is pointless.

Then I downloaded the Toshiba PC Diagnostic Tool and in its basic information, under Network, it says "None."

So, it looks like my craptop is not recognizing that the card exists. Has anyone run into this problem before? How can I get it to recognize the card and install the drivers?

Thanks!

PS: Don't hesitate to let me know if I need to list any other specs - I'm just in a bit of a hurry at the moment.

Are there any other fixes to solve the issue pls?

While using the Internet the other day, and had the computer speakers muted, when I heard a very faint and slow-paced beeping sound.  I thought maybe it was a watch alarm buried under some laundry.  Suddenly, the volume and tempo of the beeping increased alarmingly until the computer was basically screaming.  The wireless connection was interrupted and connectivity did not automatically return.  After the wireless was interrupted, the beeping volume and pace again decreased and eventually stopped.  I turned the wireless adapter on and off a few times, and was able to reconnect after a few minutes.  This has happened three or four times.

Yesterday, the wireless bars did not appear in the system tray, but the computer with network cable icon with red X.  Strangely, I was able to connect to the Internet, but the icon did not change to the wireless bars.  Once I restarted, the problem went away.

I haven't done anything to diagnose or troubleshoot this problem.  I checked the vendor website for software updates, but everything is current.

Hi!

I'm having some problems with my wireless card on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite M500). Basically, about every few minutes it gets connectivity issues. Kicks me off the internet, but the windows wireless connectivity program never catches on that I was kicked off. On top of that, I can circumvent the problem by holding my laptop up in such a way that the card (which is located basically below my left wrist) is up in the air. Of course this is far from ideal.

Hi!

In my street there are several wifi connected properties that use the same provider. Myself included.

My laptop has an issue whereby if it picks up too many of these signals (if they're in use when I'm online I presume), I can't get online (Connection says 'limited' in the Network sidebar).
If I un-select 'connect automatically' on the company specific signals, mine works again, briefly. As soon as I select another signal to un-select the previous one defaults to 'selected', and my signal generally goes again.

Main question then; how the heck to do I stop this laptop trying to automatically connect to the other signals? My connection is not a public one, nor are the others. I've looked for an option, but I really can't work out where it is!

Could my TV, which has a modem (like a TIVO) have an effect on it?

I'm using Windows 8, Google Chrome (shouldn't make a difference, but thought I'd mention it).
The signal for my property is down as the default.

Thanks for reading, hope you can help!

Andrew.

Answer:Issue with wireless signal on Toshiba Satellite C50-B-13N

I don't understand. Do you have a unique SSID (name of wireless network)? If you do, and have none of the others set for "connect automatically"there should be no attempt to connect to any other network.

Please attach a screen shot of the Networks page (don't collapse the Radar, Connection or Signal History) of the Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector. If you need help with a screen shot see TSG Posting a Screenshot. FWIW to take screen shots with Windows Vista or latter I prefer to use the built-in Snipping Tool.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite C-50 / Wireless Connectivity issues

I would place more blame on the hotspots or wifi access points. The best thing to do, if you are getting intermittent connecting while using the laptop. Get a USB wifi adapter. The antenna on the Toshiba's, is on the upper Left hand corner of the lid. It is a piece of foil, that is aprox 2"x3".

Hello,

I have been having some problems with my wireless connection on my Toshiba Satellite M645-S4050 running Windows 7 for quite some time. One of the symptoms of the problem I am having is that after my laptop goes to sleep and I bring it back up, 80% of the time no wireless network can be detected. I try to diagnose the connection and Windows can not find a solution to the problem. I then am forced to restart my computer and a lot of the time I must restart it more than once.

Another thing that I noticed was that when I am forced to shutdown/restart my computer after no wireless networks can be detect, my computer is unable to turn off and stays on "Shutting down.." screen indefinitely.

I have tried to update all of the wireless drivers to no avail, and I am getting desperate for a solution as I am a college student with no money for a whole new laptop. Thank you for your help.

If any other information is needed, please just let me know.

My Toshiba Satellite can't detect wireless connections. An ATT tech was trying to troubleshoot my home connection problem, walked me through all kinds of DOS prompts, had me change setings, etc. Nothing fixed it except a new modem/router. However, now I can not pick up ANY wireless connections anywhere. My orange light is on and my F8 reads ON.I know it is a setting he had me change, but he had me change alot of things and I am not a DOS guru :( HELP, I need my wireless capablities back.

Hi all, I can't find a driver for that adapter on toshiba web site:

Toshiba

That site requests:

- portable
- toshiba
- nb series
- 500
- PLL50E
- Windows 7 32 bit

Then all drivers and manufacturer utilities should be available for download.
I've installed the following, not all toshiba utilities

Code:
3gdrv-20160314164250
carc-20110119141740
csutil-20110119140814
display-20110523162743
lan-20110119141806
ndidrst-20110805161853
sound-20110119141033
tpdrv-20110119141849
webcam-20110805162140
But wifi adapter results unmanaged in windows devices manager.
I report detailed info for indentification of that hardware component:

Code:
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&SUBSYS_818110EC&REV_01
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&SUBSYS_818110EC
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&CC_0280
Can you confirm the needed driver is not present on toshiba site?
Thanks in advance!

Greetings!!!

Does Anybody know where to install the wireless card in a Toshiba A8 Laptop the Wireless CHIP NOT THE PCMCIA CARD. When I ordered the laptop through my work the company sent the laptop and the wireless card separate. Most of the laptops on the back have a little clip or cover that you remove to install the card, but for some reason there is no spot to put the wireless card in the back of the laptop I just see the battery, memory and hard drive. Please note I am not talking about the PCMCIA card Im talking about the actual wireless chip. I was wondering if the spot to put the wireless chip deep in and the only way to get it is to remove everything. Please let me know

Answer:install wireless card in Toshiba A8

Doesn't that model already have Wifi built in to the unit (not PCMCIA).. This might be a dumb question but have you tried the toshiba web site? Here's a link..http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modSel.jsp
just click on Portables, then Tecra, then choose your model, then follow the links, click on resource guides or users guide..

My Toshiba Satellite M60 164 developed a problem with the screen output a while ago as visible by clicking on the following link:
http://flic.kr/s/aHsjAyFKRG
I brought it to a repair place and after a long time and a lot of faffing they informed me that there is a problem with the graphics card. They quoted me a price to repair which was not too bad considering the age of the laptop and the price to just replace it, so I told them to go ahead. They ordered a replacement graphics card, fitted it and tested it only to discover the same problem appeared during the testing. They claimed that this was due to their supplier sending a slightly different part and then quoted a much higher price to source the part from elsewhere, which was however not economical. I got the part no off them (Toshiba VGA BOARD M24C 128, K000027010) and have found somewhere else to buy it for cheaper. However due to poor service and communication by them I am not for them to fix it and before I bring it elsewhere I want to ensure it is the correct part for this laptop as they did not install any faith in me! When I contacted Topaz, Toshiba's spare parts dealer, the lady gave me a different part number and said the graphics board and motherboard are all one when the repair shop had told me they were separate.
Basically I am wondering if anyone can confirm to me what the part number is for the graphic board and if it is attached to the motherboard or not? Also if you have any idea from this limited i... Read more

And looking at the pic at step #23 :- http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba_Satellite_M65/big/Toshiba_Satellite_M65_23.jpg
The graphics chip is the one with the white thermal compound on it and it's soldered onto the system board.

But it looks like the Topaz woman was correct and the repair shop people are lying to you.

Hello,
I have changed the motherboard of my Toshiba Satellite L50-B-24K
I have mounted the new motherboard and installed Windows : everything works fine except the network card.
If I plug an ethernet cable, the computer never connects to internet. It works with the wifi card.
I have checked the network card properties and it says the mac adress is :
00:00:00:00:00:00
This is not normal but I don't know how to correct this.
Thank you per advance for your help.

On Start Up the fan momentarily runs up to a point where it appears to be at its maximum possible speed and makes a `buzzing` sound before the speed drops to normal and only changes with CPU load/temperature thereafter. It happens at each and every start, either from cold or as a Restart during use but only the once for each Start/Restart cycle and no other time.No changes have been made to the laptop other than a new battery and the fan appears clean when viewed through the grill on the bottom. This has only just started happening. Has anyone else experienced this on a Toshiba or any other laptop and is the cause known? Better still does anyone have any idea of how to resolve it?Many thanks in anticipation for any help.

I have a Toshiba laptop satellite 5205-S503 and have installed a Toshiba WI-FI card. My broadband router is a D-Link 614+. I can't not get the laptop to see the router, although it does seem to know the desktop computer name. I'm kinda new at this WI-FI game. Toshiba wasn't much help although they did teach me how to turn on the laptop WI-FI switch. I am running Windows XP. I have the router connected with a Cat 5 cable to both the desk top and lap top successfully. When I try to connect the laptop via WI-FI, I am unsuccessful. I do get icons in the tray, however.

Anybody got an idea of what I need to do to go wireless?

Thanks

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Laptop

Although you do not say so

I tried a new power adapter cord, I installed new power jack and still no power and no lightsClick to expand...

and presuming the battery was flat and it could not therefore be tested on battery only without charging the same - I presume you did try a new POWER adapter, as against just the connecting cable and new power mini jack socket
Or at least test that you had an output from the adapter

The answer to the actual question is you cannot, there is no such thing as ONE tester for what you specify
The heat sink would not STOP it posting, even if it cut out as soon as it detected overheat on the processor

Presuming that it has more than one stick of ram, simply removing one and swopping over before of course you dismantled it was the test for that

However although a failed ram stick may stop it booting it would not stop the power led illuminating on the laptop

My opinion is, with no power led whatsoever and if you have eliminated power supply as first mentioned
capacitor failure on board on circuit that takes power from connections of jack.
It may of course NOT be so, but that is in my experience favourite

I'd suggest testing the hard drive.

In order to test the hard drive you can run one of the diagnostic programs below. The files, in ISO format, will need to be burned to a CD using a program that can burn CD image files (burnaware or imgburn).

Hitachi Drive Fitness Test
Downloads | HGST Storage

Western Digital
WD Support / Downloads / Select Product

My name is Ken and I am trying to repair a customer's Toshiba Satellite laptop. It had Windows XP loaded and when it boots it will only get as far as:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

I saw on one website to press 0, F1 or F8 to get the hard drive disk utility to come up on the screen but it only displays the message that I detailed above. I also ensured that the CD/DVD was the first boot device and I tried to reload the operating system with a Win XP disk that I have but the same message appears.
I cannot get past this message no matter what I do.
And to make matters worse, the customer doesn't have the original Setup CD-ROM. I guess what i'm looking for is an original setup disk.

When I use my laptop at home, I am able to access web pages no problem, but when I am at the college, I can get a connection, I just can't access any web pages. What do I do, what do I click etc.... I was told that I might have a static IP. BUT... I am lucky to remember my name half the time with a brain injury. So can someone PLEASE explain to me (1)What the heck a static IP is, (2)How can I access web pages on my laptop when I am at the college or another location when I have a open connection, and (3)Will I have to change the profile each time I access the internet from a different location?

I see that I have the ConfigFree using the Atheros AR5005G Wireless Network. I can get to the properties if anyone can tell me what I need to do.

Hi,

Just installed XP Pro on a friends Toshiba Satellite L30D PSLC0E and managed to find 'almost' all the drivers on the 'net.

However I still have a yellow question mark opposite SM Bus Controller in Device Manager. The owner has misplaced the original discs but I presume that as this machine previously had Vista that the discs probably wouldn't have had XP drivers anyway.

Wonder if anyone on here could point me in the right direction. I have spent ages on the Toshiba site but no luck.

Thank you.

I RECENTLY acquired a Toshiba Satellite M40 laptop which isn't working. When turned on it shows "Operating System not found." The Bios doesn't detect the hard drive.
Using the original recovery disk I can get it to boot
to the recovery utility, but whatever I try it returns "No disk drives were detected".
When I leave the recovery it goes into Dos mode, defaulting to x:\> (I assume this is Toshiba cd drive) I can then go to c:\>.. Doing a directory search it shows
"Volume in drive C is MS-RAMDRIVE

Does anyone have any idea where I start????

Perhaps the Bios is correct and the hard drive has failed.

Replacement hard drives for Toshiba Laptops are notoriously expensive. You can sometime pick up a bargain on Ebay if you wait long enough.
