Solved: Gmail.com unreachable/unavailable all on browsers

Question: Solved: Gmail.com unreachable/unavailable all on browsers

Hi,
When I try to go to gmail.com on my desktop PC, it gives me a message that the page is unavailable.
It happens in Chrome, Firefox and IE.
I can go to gmail.com just fine on all other devices, like my phone, laptop and other computers, so I assume my desktop PC is to blame.
I disabled my Bitdefender Security's antivirus, firewall and its other tools but to no avail.
I used Ccleaner and other tools to clean history, cookies, traces etc. and that didn't help either.
I scanned the computer with Bitdefender and Malbytes, and they found no viruses or other harmful stuff.
I would really appreciate your assistance.

Preferred Solution: Solved: Gmail.com unreachable/unavailable all on browsers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have no clue what the error message 'unreachable statement' is supposed to mean, but i keep getting it and cannot get rid of it without deleting these 2 statements. The error is given for the red line...

I have done with network of 8 networks then 4 LAN's as departments.
First I have done successfully the connect from LAN 1 to LAN 2 and I can ping all hosts from LAN 1 to LAN 2 in both network and vice versa using RIP routing.
Second when I need to do same thing but I need LAN 3 to reach all LAN's and Facing Destination host unreachable problem.

what I should be do.
I hope you can help me to find where my mistake to solve it.

Thank you very much.

Answer:Solved: Destination host unreachable.

Given that you are using RIP (an old routing protocol not used in current production environments), and the name of the file you attached is "assignment2", I think it's safe to assume this is a school assignment.

Unfortunately we cannot provide assistance with school assignments here.

I have asked for an administrator/moderator to stop by your thread.

Hello guys!

I know everyone hates guys like me, that register only to get help instead of joining the community. But that's not the case, I've been following bleepingcomputer for a while now and it helped me help others with amazing solutions. This time, though, I haven't found anything like what's happening here.

I'm at my gf's computer and there's this annoying situation that I can't bypass.

I'm using firefox, browsing random websites, when she asks me to go to my mail and check something from college. When I reach gmail.com (or accounts.google.com or docs.google.com whatever), Firefox tells me that the website is "Unsafe" and "website cant be trusted" and "security certificate is not valid".

I tried to bypass it by adding a exception. Didn't work.

Then i tried the same thing in IE. Didn't work.

Then I tried hotmail.com, in both browsers. Didn't work either.

I've ran "COMODO" AV and "Malwarebytes". I've also tried "rkill", that I had used once in a friends computer.

The only different thing this computer as seen lately is her 6 yo brother playing random games on every website imaginable.

Help please?

Thank you all for your patience!

Hi,

This morning www.gmail.com would no longer load for me on my work computer. It was working fine in the morning and stopped somewhere after 10a. Our work uses gmail so I know it wasn't blocked intentionally. It does not seem to load in IE 8 or Firefox 3.5.3. I also just downloaded Google Chrome and it would not load there either.

The weird part is that my co-workers computer is able to load Gmail. I can also access Google and search in Google, but cannot access Gmail.

I've tried re-setting the router. I've done a clear cache, and also a friend suggested I do this through the command prompt which I did.

I also called RCN (our cable service provider) and they had me do a winsock reset via command prompt but that did not fix the problem. They said they couldn't help me trouble shoot any further.

I have AVS Antivirus 8.5.421 installed and didn't see anything being "blocked" under advanced settings.

Can anyone help me fix this? Many thanks in advance...

Hi !

Since about a month, my browsers (I usually use Chrome, but the same problem happens with Firefox or IE) only open Facebook, Gmail and the Google homepage / Google search results. If I try to open another page, it loads for an infinite amount of time, until I close the browser. My laptop is running Windows 8.

I've tried looking up the problem on the internet, and it seems everyone has a different solution. What I've tried so far is pinging different addresses:

ping google.com responds and the webpage loads
ping yahoo.com responds but the webpage doesn't load
ping 4.2.2.1 responds

I've also tried ipconfig /flushdns, to no avail.

Could you please help me ?

Thanks a lot !

A month ago, I thought that my PC was infected by malware when the ads just pop-up when I surfed the Internet, so I installed some anti-malware program such as: Malwarebytes anti-malware, Hitman pro, Adware cleaner, Avast. After that, I could use the Internet normally.
However, a week ago I could not access any google website such as google.com, youtube.com or gmail.com....This situation happened on all the browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE). I often got the errors like these: ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT or SSL or ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED. I can access other websites normally, and another PC at my house can access google without any problems at all.
So I type tracert www.google.com on cmd and I got this result:

Can't access to gmail and google drive me crazy because I need to use these websites everyday. Therefore, could anyone please help me to solve this problem? Many many thanks in advance.

make sure:

--Make sure you have the correct Windows Service enabled and STARTED, such as RPC (Remote Procedure Call)
--enable the DCOM tunneling, (go to Start and then Run. Write DCOMCNFG and then click on the Component Services. From the component services, go to My Computer and choose Properties. After this, turn to Default Properties tab and then Enable DCOM.

I have been having this issue. I came to my PC the other day and I couldn't connect to the internet. My first thought was to reset my modem/router. Did so and no changes. (This PC is connected directly to the modem). My phone and tv were connected to my WiFi so I checked the other PC directly connected and it was still connected to the internet. So I checked my network connection and it was showing limited or no connectivity. I tried to repair and it said IP address could not be renewed. So I tried to go into the command prompt and renew it. Thats when I got the error RPC Server is unavailable. I had never seen that error before. I did some research tried a few things and nothing seemed to work. I then figured I would try to access a prior system restore point. Well that worked but when I restart my PC it does back to having this issue.

The only thing I have done recently which I figure may have caused an issue was plug a laptop SATA HD into one of the slave spots. Needed to remove some files from it. I have done this before without any complications. I can't think of anything else that I have done differently.

Answer:[SOLVED] RPC Server is unavailable

Go to Start/Run and type services.msc and press enter. In the Services window, scroll down to Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and double click it. Make sure the Startup type is set to Automatic and that the Service is Started. You may need to start the DCOM Server Process and the RPC Endpoint Mapper as well.

I got this error msg when I attempted to launch a full system backup using Acronis (True Image Home 2010). I "Googled it" and found this forum!! This very thread was posted back in Aug 08 by AbsentHarvest, and dealt with not being able to share files between his PC and a laptop. The "fix" was to look in the Services listing accessed via Start ->Run-> Services.msc, and confirm that Remote Procedure Call was "Started" and set to "Automatic Startup" (right-click and open Properties if not).

My Acronis problem was not solved at this point (because RPC, in my, case was on & running), but selecting the "Depencencies" tab at the top of the Properties Window showed that the "Acronis Scheduler2 Service" DID/DOES depend on RPC running.

This (now) obvious connection between RPC and the Acronis Scheduler2 Service (even though the actual error message was misleading) "turned on the light" for me: I remembered turning this Acronis service OFF a few weeks ago (via one of the Startup Mgr utilities), thinking it was involved with scheduling/running Acronis backups automatically. (I thought I had perhaps selected this option by mistake during the Acronis setup procedure.

So, it was all somewhat "fortuitous", but turning Acronis Scheduler2 back ON/Automatic did solve my problem, and the backup ran successfully!!

Now, having said all this (and perhaps it will be useful to someone), this is my first post... Read more

The computer i'm using now, is a stationary computer. (Zero)
It's directly connected to the router. My laptop connects to the router wirelessly. I have no problem sharing files on the laptop. Zero, the stationary computer can access the files on the laptop. However, it won't let me share files to my laptop. (or share in general).

Stationary Computer (Zero) Running OS: Vista Basic
Laptop/ Running OS: Vista Premium

So, instantly I looked around online and I've found that this has occured through service pack upgrades etc. This computer is brand new, I had purchased it a couple of days prior to this posting.

The key problem. Is that the File Sharing won't enable. (SEE RPC ERROR/jpg)
As you can see, there is a message indicating that... "The RPC Server is unavailable".
I have checked my firewall settings. (ZoneAlarm Free Firewall) Sharing is allowed.

So, I've looked around some more, and I found that people are having trouble with the service itself. I open Services (As Admin) and look at the RPC service. It's automatic and has started. However, it won't allow me to restart the service, or edit it in any manner. (SEE RPC SERVICE.jpg)

Both computers are WORKGROUP, they're both named and both are Public Network. I'm stumped on this one. It has no problem accessing shared files, however I cannot share files in return which is required, this issue is important.

Any suggestions or solutions are welcome, thanks.

I have 2 PC's at home behind a Linksys router. Both running Windows XP.

One is my work laptop which is connected to the company network via Cisco VPN software and going thru the router.

The other is my personal desktop which is connecting to the Internet thru the router only.

If I try to ping ANYTHING in the Oracle domain (141.146.x.x) from my home PC it fails; Destination host unreachable. I can't ping or tracert to anything in that range (www.oracle.com, otn.oracle.com, metalink.oracle.com) However, I can connect to all of the prior via a browser on said PC.

My router has ping and tracert available thru it's web interface and I AM able to ping and telnet to anything in that range from the router, so it appears to be a problem with the PC configuration.

I've tried disabling Windows Firewall, disabling the Firewall on the router, verified that ping and tracert are not blocked on the router.

Also, my home PC's mainboard is more for a gaming rig so it came with Dual NIC's. I also tried disabling one of the NIC's thinking that might be related. No difference.

Anyone have ANY idea what could be causing this? I don't have any kind of rule in the router blocking those IP... and I can't find anything on the PC that might be blocking it, that I am aware of.

This is fairly critical as I use my home pc to do tests to the systems that I support that have Internet access; telent'ing to IMAP/SMTP/POP ports on company servers in the... Read more

Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or home network, and they try again. HELP

I have read a couple of solution but I'm worried that they will delete my files.

Last one was from Microsoft support saying that This problem occurs because the Windows system code page does not provide support for the Euro character.

Could it be just coding problems?
the file name has different coding than English characters.

But again the folders open ok but the last file that contains my stuff doesn't

it like this:
4 empty folders inside each other and then the 5th folder contains everything

the 4 folders open normally (maybe because they are empty) but the last folder doesn't and I get this message.
Also all 5 folders contain the same characters.

Hi all!
I have just discovered the wonders of msconfig on my snail computer, and turned it into the lightspeed one I've been dreaming of! But here's the catch, now I can't get onto the internet! I tried network conections, but it said the message you see on the title. We connect through a LAN router. Hang on...I just tried enabling all Microsift/Dell services and official looking processes and it works! But I still would like to disable more, to make it faster.

Onto my second problem. When I was still using IE, I accidentaly downloaded a bit of malware. Just a little ad for the fake 'SpyCrush' (you know, 'System has detected a number of active spyware applications blah blah blah'), but it would be good to get rid of it MANUALLY, no downloads please. It seems to have wormed it's way into the absolute-must-have-essentials list, it even starts in safe mode, but only every other boot, for some reason.

Also, if you have time aside those, it would be good if I knew the process/service that makes the XP taskbar look different etc.

Thanks, Hamish

Answer:[SOLVED] Network connections unavailable..!

Hi hammil !

Before tweaking any service or startup item in msconfig it's recommended that you make a search on that item first to know exactly what it is. Look at this thread if you don't know where to look : http://www.techsupportforum.com/f36/...es-159301.html

Now, first thing is to get rid of your malware. Problem is that a malware rarely comes alone. Even if we could give you some directions to remove that one you can't be sure that your computer is completely clean until you have thoroughly scanned it. There's no point in not wanting to install some utility to clean your computer of a malware. Once the malware is gone, you can uninstall the removal tool if you want and most often a specific removal tool will not need any installation : it will only be one small executable file that will leave no trace whatsoever in your registry.

Follow the HJT link in my sig and go through the whole 5 steps process. Post your final Deckard's log in the HijackThis section of the forum where TSF security analysts will review it. It can take several days before you get an answer but afaik it's like that on each and every forum that propose HJT support. Once they'll start reviewing your thread you'll have a quick feedback.

I also like to tweak my startup items to make my applications the most responsive possible, but I do have adaware installed and I run a scan every week or so. Programs like adaware or spybot are second time scanners that you have to run manually, they don't st... Read more

I always remove my flash memory safely. Nothing was moved/changed...etc since last time I opened my flash. (2 weeks ago)

Just now I got this message

...refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, on a network, or on a different computer on your home network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or home network, and they try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location.

HELP PLEASE my life is in there

I have recently noticed the my windows explorer address bar was gone. When I went to view to get it back, it wouldn't let me click it (all grayed out). I looked around the web to see if anybody else had a similar problem and found a microsoft help and support page which i thought would fix it but it didn't. Here is a link to said page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555130 . It did not help me and so far it has not hindered me. The problem still persists and I was wondering if anybody knew how to fix it?

Here is a picture of the problem (the red circle):

The customize button that I can click on has buttons but no address bar.

Go to Start =Run and type in "regedit" {without the quotes}
In the Registry Editor navigate to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
Look in the right-hand pane for either or both of these Strings:
NoBandCustomize
NoToolbarCustomize

If either are there, either right-click on them and change the Value to 0 {that's a zero} - or simply right-click and Delete them.

Next navigate to this key and do the same thing:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Hi there,

I have a Lexmark x9350 wireless printer, a laptop running Vista Home Edition and a desktop PC running Vista Home premium. The printer is in another room to the desktop due to space and so I would like to print wirelessly from the desktop without having to switch on the laptop first and print via that i.e Desktop -> shared printer on Laptop -> Printer which is what I'm doing now.

The laptop works fine with the printer wirelessly and within the printer properties there is a tick in the bi-directional support checkbox.

The desktop pc however has exactly the same printer driver as the laptop and can detect the printer on the network but the bi-directional support checkbox is unticked and greyed out and so I get the error that Bi-di.. needs to be turned on in order to print. The desktop PC is connecting to the printer via the home network wireless router.

I can only put the difference between one working and the other not down to the laptop having a built in wireless card and so theres no problems when the printer needs to talk back to the laptop where as the desktop is communicating via the router and the printer messages cannot make it through for some reason. Am I right in saying this or is there another explanation? I have already tried an updated driver from the Lexmark website.

Thanks in advance for your time on this.

When I put my new comp together and installed Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) on the hard drives, I used Vista to partition and format the hard drives. The hard drives have a total of 320 GB capacity, but Vista declared that it would not permit more than 298 GB to be available on the partition.

I remember when I put together my previous comp, I used Western Digital's "Data Lifeguard Tools" to partition and format the hard drive, and it said the drives had to be proven to meet some kind of compliance check before they could be permitted to have their full capacity on the partition. This required going through the Windows version of Data Lifeguard, as well as the DOS version (prior to Windows installation). Because I always use two hard drives, one as a backup/storage drive, I was able to do this for both hard drives.

I can do the same thing now, except.... Western Digital told me that Data Lifeguard Tools is incompatible with Windows Vista, and they don't have a Vista-compatible version out. Even if I use the DOS version prior to Windows installation, it specifically formats the drive to receive Windows XP or 2000. Once I try to install Vista, the partition and formatting will not be recognized and it will absolutely DEMAND that they be re-done.

By swapping all my data back and forth between the two drives, I can wipe them clean one at a time and reinstall Windows on both of them.... but how do I get the partition to show all 320 GB instead of just 2... Read more

Hi,

I am getting this error message "A connection could not be established to FEPNT1 - [DB-Library] Unable to connect: SQL Server is Unavailable or does not exist."

I can't connect to any databases, and I was told that the transaction log is full (Error 1105)

I was also told to increase the size of the transaction log or truncate the transaction log. I was also told that I can
increase the size of the transaction log using the ALTER DATABASE statement. I was also told to truncate the transaction log,
I can set the Truncate Log On Checkpoint database option, or run the DUMP TRANSACTION command with NO_LOG parameter.

Since i can't connect to any database by any method, including Query Analyzer, how can I get to my databases in the first place so I can truncate my log file(s) ?
Can I hack into SQL Server, namely going to the OS and copying the database file(s) and running a command line executable to truncate the log file(s)
since I can't get to them via any windows interface? Please help give direction here.

Thanks!

After System Recovery I no longer have internet connection on the computer I used. All the other devices and computer can access my router but not the computer that I've used System Recovery on. UPDATE: I managed to get internet running through my main computer again by unplugging the USB Adapter and re-intalling the drivers again a few times. Now I need to install SP2/SP3 and modern browsers right now. I fear that if I restart my computer, I may no longer have internet again for a while. I just tried to watch a movie on Netflix, and it prompted me to upgrade Microsoft Silverlight. I saved the file to my desktop, and when I tried to open the .exe file, I got this error message from Windows Installer:

The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

I tried moving the downloaded file to a different location, but it had no effect. I apparently can't play any movie now from Netflix, since I have to update Silverlight before I can play anything.

Running Vista Home Prem on Compaq notebook with Office 2007. Connected to HP C-4180 printer with NO networking.
Until today there have been no problems. Today when trying to print from either Word or Excel I get "The Active Directory Domain services is currently unavailable" message. From all non-Office programs I can print without problem. I am a dumb user who needs to send out billing backup data so I would appreciate help, especially if it is either not couched in tech terms or is a step by step "instruction".

Answer:Solved: Active Directory Domain service curently unavailable

Try adding the printer using administrator-level privileges:
Go into Control Panel and select Printers
Delete your HP C-4180 printer you currently have added
On the left side of the window, there should be a folder tree. Find 'Printers' in the tree (it should already be highlighted since you are currently viewing that folder), right click on it, select Run as Administrator, then select Add Printer from the submenu that opens up.
Go through the process of adding the printer again

Hello all,

Rather than make 2 separate threads, i decided to basically combine these two issues. First of all, this isnt a problem that i am having, instead it is a friend of mine. (Yea yea, i know when someone says its 'a friend' or whatever, its always him/her talking about themselves, but thats usually for relationship stuff )

But here is the deal. I was connecting to her comp remotely, via TightVNC, a program im sure many of you are familiar with. You basically use this to tunnel in and just take control of their comp and do whatever you need to do on it. It was working perfect for 2 days. A simple 'go to your router and open the port we chose' worked just fine, and done is done, easy enough, right? Well now i suddenly cant get in, and basically, we have tried everything under the sun to figure it out and have yet to find a solution. It just doesnt make any sense to me at all, and there are some very odd occurences going on which ill outline later, but first ill list everything we have done, to make this easier on all of us:

1. Reset the router to the default settings, tried making the rule for VNC again, and it was not letting me in. She has a section for APPLICATIONS and PORT FORWARDING. We originally made the rule in PORT FORWARDING (the APPLICATIONS has this TRIGGER PORT thingy, and well..im not sure how that even works, though it seems similar). Nevertheless, when it was working we use PORT FORWARDING it was just fine. We tried both areas and ... Read more

Hi,

I'm not sure what it might be but one day I noticed that about a dozen of websites I open regularly became unavailable. "The connection has timed out."

nslookup works OK and I get IP address resolved, I also tried tracert, it goes through 5-10 hops and then times out. I can still open some web sites but not all of them. I can open all web sites via online proxy so they are all up and running.

I have ADSL modem connected to my laptop, no routers, the modem doesn't have any static routing tables, so as far as I understand it, the list of hosts I see in tracert output depends on my ISP router.

The ISP is able to open all "problem" web sites on their side, but I can't get any help from them as they say that since tracert goes beyond their network it's not their problem and it's my computer actually blocking some of web sites.

I'm not aware of any software on my laptop which could possibly do that as well as I don't have any routing/proxy programs installed, so it seems that it might be a virus or some malicious software.

So what do I do? Try to find a virus or can it be a system issue?

Answer:some web sites became unreachable

-Bitdefender crashed just as it was going to show the "detected problems" Explorer was the named culprit. I do remember mostly trojans found in email (trash box, Eudora Pro) that were deleted.

I do have the other 4 log files. I hope you can help, I have a website at godaddy.com that needs attending to.

I have a number of XP and W7 PCs in a domain with internet connection, all working fine.

I've wired my Linux laptop to the network, DHCP, and it can talk to other devices on the network. But I can't get connected to any site outside the network - ping to any external address gives "192.168.1.1 Destination Net Unreachable" 192.168.1.1 is the correct address for the router, and any Windows machine can ping to any address via that same router.

Any ideas please?

2 nights ago I purchased a Linksys WPC54GS for my laptop so that I could access the Free Wireless Internet at the motel I was staying at in Ohio, and it worked great. Now I am in a hotel in CA that has free Wireless Internet access also, and my computer says I'm connected, but when I try to access the internet I get "Host is unreachable or DNS server culd not resolve the DNS name." Can anyone tell me what to do to get online?

Answer:Host is unreachable

Go down to the front desk and ask them for their network settings/codes etc. See if they can help you since its their network.

192.168.1.1: Destination net unreachable

Can you guys pleae help out on this. I need this very urgently.

Answer:Destination net unreachable

Even though it appears you're having the same problem, please start a new thread when you have a new issue. It's very difficult to keep two problems straight and who's working on what in a single thread.

I've created a new thread for your issue here.

Note: You will need to post complete details of your configuration and your specific issue in this new thread for us to help you.

Thanks for your cooperation.

Hi,When I ping one IP
Sometimes the below error:
What is difference between?
 Destination net unreachable.
 Destination Host unreachable.

Answer: Destination net unreachable.

Here are answers to your problems
http://www.corenetworkz.com/2009/05/destination-host-unreachable-reason-and.html
http://www.corenetworkz.com/2009/05/destination-net-unreachable-icmp-error.html
For problém diagnostics you will need to analyze output from ipconfig /all, from routing tables when you work behind local network and network analyzer for detailed analysis of packet exchane (Wireshark will do the trick)

Ever since I logged on this afternoon I have been unable to use IE or Avant Browser. Most sites will load, but only after several minutes--a few time out entirely. I've been using Firefox to get around with no such problems. I've run Spybot and AdAware, a full Norton virus scan was run just before I shut down last night. I attempted an IE repair with no improvement.

I am running a new Western Digital 80 gig drive installed 10 days ago with a new install of Window XP. My system specs are:

Windows XP Home SP2 and all updates
Avant 10 166, using avant.exe
IE 6 with all updates
HP Pavilion AMD Athlon(tm)XP 1800+ 1.53 GHz
ZoneAlarm, Norton Systemworks Pro 2004

My friend took his computer to Best Buy who ran the restore on it with his main files on a second drive. The drive is now ganked, but I'm working to recover the files if possible.

In Disk Management (XP Pro), I can see that there's a 37GB volume with 20Gb free (looks like his missing files). There's a second volume on the disk that's only 47 MB and it's Active (so I can access it, but there's nothing to speak of there).

The point is that if I click on the 37Gb volume, I can't seem to do anything with it. The only menu option available when I right click it is "Help". If I click the disk itself, I have the option to convert to a dynamic disk, but I don't want to do that without knowing what will happen to the data on there.

When I dig through the properties, I can see data on the 47MB disk, but not the 37 GB. Does anyone know what to do with this!!!?

Answer:Unreachable Volume on Disk, What to do?

Oh, and the 37 GB says this:

First step is to trouble shoot to determine the cause.

If you want help from somebody you need to describe your network and computers (with respect to the network).

Lets take it in a few steps. Try pinging your gateway 192.168.1.1 to see if we get errors. If not, then ping your DNS servers (124.106.6.2 & 124.106.4.2). Then try pinging 108.175.7.71. What are your results?

I can get to any website I try except Windows update.

I have moved the HDD to another PC and run MS Security Essentials, BitDefender & F-Secure scans. Then back to its own case where I ran Anti-Malware & SuperAntiSpyware. HijackThis also ran but still no Windows Update.

I have tried running IE in Safe mode - same problem. I did a repair install of XP - problem persists. I ran a batch file to delete the update database and reregister DLLs. Reinstalled IE 8. Still unable to reach Windows update in IE or FireFox. WinsockXPfix didn't help and an nslookup of windowsupdate.microsoft.com reveals

DNS request timed out.
timeout was 2 seconds.
*** Can't find server name for address 192.168.0.1: Timed out
*** Default servers are not available

All other websites on this PC come up fine, as does Windowsupdate on another PC on the same LAN. My Hosts. file contains just
127.0.0.1 localhost

Help.

Hi all, new guy here with weird problem. I can not access www.crutchfield.com website. Everytime I try I get timeout (this applies to all machines on my network). However when I bypass the router and hook up directly to the modem I can get the website. Here's what I did so far:

My Internet connection is working fine (called Comcast and it was reset from their side).
I called Crutchfield and they confirmed their website is up (Comcast guy accessed it too).
I reset my modem and router.
I reset the router to factory defaults.
I reinstalled the router firmware.
I doublechecked that access control is disabled on the router, and no entries in web filter

I am stumped, can somebody help? Thanks.

I am running:
Toshiba - DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem - PCX2600
D-Link DGL-4300 router
Windows 7 RC x64
All connections Cat6 cable

I have searched everything and tried everything. Have an HP Desktop Pavilion. Purchased a MFC 8950dw Printer. One Desktop in the office Acer M3470 connected without Disks, system works beautifully. We have a Linksys wireless router. On the HP Pavilion nothing works. Continue to get "destination host unreachable". Here are the specks. Any help other than what's already been offered? I removed all firewall trying to make that work.

Answer:destination host unreachable

You need to tell us what the problem is, not what error you get. What are you trying to do? What are you pinging? Is the HP Pavillion connected to the router via WiFi or cable? Can it connect to the Internet?
Any other pertinent information would help.

I'm getting this message when I tracert sf.net. No other website is having problems being accessed from my network, only sourceforge. A ping responds with:
Reply from 66.35.250.203: Destination port unreachable.

A tracert responds with 15 successful hops, and then:
16 sourceforge.net [66.35.250.203] reports: Destination protocol unreachable.

I cant figure out where the problem is originating. I created a static route to allow all traffic to this address on my 1710 router. My SDSL modem is able to ping and tracert successfully. Ping and tracert from my Cisco 1710 router gives the unreachable error.
Network setup is:
LAN -------> Cisco 1710 --------> Efficient SDSL 5851

Any help is appreciated.

I've been trying to connect a newly aquired machine to my network with no luck what-so-ever. Initially I installed Windows XP professional with SP2 onto the machine only to be hit with the infamous "Limited or no connectivity" issue. Upon researching this error, I came across various solutions including the Microsoft SP2 Patch KB884020 with no luck. I still cannot get this machine to connect to the network. Everything I've tried is listed below.

Replaced the Hub twice
Tried with no Service packs, and with 1 seperately, and service packs 1 and 2
I've tried the winsock XP fix after reading it may be a corrupt IP table
I've run a registry fix i found on some forums (i have a feeling thats the same as the winsock XP fix though)
I've flushed out my DNS
I've tried 3 different network adapters, an nForce Motherboard mounted one. a Realtek one, and a Sitecom one
Manually assigned an IP address in the range which DHCP would assign

All of the above has failed. It is only this machine which fails. I've got numerous other machines on my network which are all recieving dynamic IPs from DHCP perfectly every time yet this PC hasn't recieved an IP once.

I read that if you can ping the computer's local IP, and ping its loopback address 127.0.0.1 successfully, it's not a corrupt IP table, but bad network drivers. However having tried 3 different network adapters with CD drivers from purchase, and drivers obtained on the inter... Read more

Instead of trying everything possible you should approach this step by step. Use a static IP when testing at all times.

Hi,

I am using an old laptop as a server for Plex and Subsonic, I login to it via RDP. Often the plex server becomes unreachable. Also at times I can't login via RDP for a few minutes with an error that the host is unreachable, this issue sorts itself after a few minutes and I can then log in again.

I'm wondering could this be due to hard disk spin down as all other power setting are set to stay awake.

This is on a Windows 7 setup, thanks.

Answer:Laptop Server Becomes Unreachable

Apparently this is not due to hard disk spin down as I have set it to never spin down and still experiencing problems.

Any one with any ideas on why I may be having these issues please let me know your thoughts.

Hi, I'm having a bit of trouble since last week. I have sweethosting.com hosting my web site and my laptop can't seem to connect to the web site anymore. Everytime I try, I get an error msg: Gateway time out--- Server Unreachable.. sometimes when I repair the wireless connection I can get access, but sometimes I can't.

I've tried scanning with with Nortons antivirus and scanned with spybot and also with Adware. I'm lost in the dark right now. My Desk top computer can access the web site though.

Can someone help me please.

Answer:Error msg: server unreachable

This is what I got when I just tried that site;

"This page is used to test the proper operation of the Apache HTTP server after it has been installed. If you can read this page, it means that the Apache HTTP server installed at this site is working properly.
If you are a member of the general public:

The fact that you are seeing this page indicates that the website you just visited is either experiencing problems, or is undergoing routine maintenance."

Checking the URL with a server identification tool produced the information that it is online, but returns a "HTTP 1.0 403 Forbidden", which seems to confirm the information above.

The IP address for that domain is 69.42.129.18. Sometimes, using the IP address instead of the URL works better, although I don't expect it will make much difference in this particular case.

I am having problems on my laptop using things like Cortana across user accounts. The wheel spins and spins when I click on Cortana. I think the problem stems from the fact edge and IE11 cannot load outlook.com or go into things like account settings. It's only this causing the issue, all other sites work apart from these critical MS sites. I've tried changing DNS settings to alternates like google but nothing works to fix this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated? On my other desktop PC I have no issues. All language settings and packs are correctly set as UK. Am at a total loss. I tried a restore point but that was no better. I've had this issue crop up intermittently ever since getting the laptop. Sometimes it works ok but after a while the issue will re-occur without rhyme or reason. I notice under family setitngs 'Can't connect to family settings, your user data may not be upto date' sometimes comes up too. It's as if the laptop is having trouble connecting to MS server some of the time

Answer:Outlook.com unreachable via edge and IE11

The machine seems to be having real problems signing into MS. For example if I launch films and TV I see lower left 'Can't sign in'. I think there is something amiss logging into the MS account causing all the issues. Store is slow and unable to update apps, always an error message after ages of acquiring license. I don't really want to have to try and create a new user acc given everything I have setup/installed

Is there a way of signing out of the MS account and signing back in because something is seriously screwed up

Cheers
Wayne

Linux IPv6 Destination Unreachable problem
Hello,

Please help! I am quite new to network programming and so I tested out a sample client-Server application. The TCP or UDP client is either setup as either IPv6 or IPv4, depending on the server address type input by the user on a command line. The server has 4 sockets, one each for TCP/IPv6, TCP/IPv4, UDP/IPv6, UDP/IPv4. There is no router on this network, and the two platforms are on the same link

The client is able to communicate with the server in following combinations:

1) Client TCP IPv4, Server IPv4
2) Client UDP IPv4, Server IPv4
3) Client TCP IPv6, Server IPv4 using IPv6 mapped IPv4 address
4) Client UDP IPv6, Server IPv4 using IPv6 mapped IPv4 address
5) Client TCP IPv6, Server IPv6 both on same plaforms
6) Client UDP IPv6, Server IPv6 both on same plaforms

However, the following does not work is client and server are on diffent platforms
1) Client TCP IPv6, Server IPv6
2) Client UDP IPv6, Server IPv6

However, the application has a problem connecting. The tracedump6 shows the ICMPv6 message indicating “Destination unreachable”, “Unreachable address”.

The ping6 command from client to server platform works fine. I am at a deadend.

Following are some of the information for debugging. Will appreciate any help I can get in fixing this problem.

Hello,

I recently upgraded my computer to Windws XP 64, and my "my documents" folder on my previous setup is no unavailabe. I have alot of data that i would like to keep, is there anyway that I can retrieve this data.

Once I click on the folder in the Documents and Settings folder an error window appears with 'Access denied'.

I would very much appreaciate it if someone could recommend some software to retrieve my data, or suggest omeway of bypassing this restriction.

Many thanks in advance

Hi,

I was trying to recover some lost files with recovery software, I came across something unpleasant - my partitions contain 'Found' folder that contains 'Found.NNNN' N for numbers, folders that contain files previously deleted with their filenames also remaining. I want these files cleared, the thing is, unlike $RECYCLE.BIN that can be accessed if you unhide system folders and such, these folders do not exist and yet recovery software finds them.

Can you tell me what application can erase these folders and files so that they do not appear under the recovery software? Eraser does not detect the folder as existent. It is something like ROOT\Folder\ but I don't know which erasing program can find and delete the whole folder.

Answer:Need to delete content in unreachable folder

These things are usually made by CHKDSK.

If you have a lot of them, I'd suspect a failing hard drive.

To put it simply, I'm just trying to successfully ping machines attached to a hub for now. Here is the setup:

5 Port ethernet Hub
Computer connected to port 1
Linux machine connected to port 2
Linux machine connected to port 3

Both linux machines have (different) static IP addresses. None of this is connected to any outside network, internet, etc. I don't know what I'm doing wrong with this setup because I can't successfully ping the Linux machines from my computer and I'm not sure what the issue is.

Answer:Ping-Destination Host unreachable?

Are the assigned ip address to each machine on the same subnet?

for example if I set the following ip addresses

1 - 192.168.1.1 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0
2 - 192.168.1.2 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0
3 - 192.168.1.3 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0

so each computer is on the 192.168.1 network.
In this example each computer would be able to ping each other.

if each computer was configured on different networks like the following:

1 - 192.168.1.1 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0
2 - 192.168.2.1 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0
3 - 192.168.3.1 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0

In this case each computer is on a different network 192.168.1, 192.168.2, and 192.168.3, so in this example the only way for those computers to talk to each other is if a router was in place on each network. Without a router you would get network unreachable or something to that effect.

I have had a Power Supply failure and it caused problems with computer.

I restored a prior image to the Operating system.

Decided to back up a lot of files to USB 2 Portable Drive. Worked well first day.

Next day XP did not start well so restarted with Safe Mode.

I think I may have unset the USB Drivers.

On connecting the USB Portable Dive the PX System would not connect to the drive.

Microsoft displayed a message " Unable to write $Msft.. (could not get all the name).

Since then I cannot access the USB Portable drive as windows says "The file or directory is corrupted and runreachable."

Can anyone recommend software to use to recover the USB Portable Drive?

:cry

Answer:USB Portable Drive - corrupted or unreachable

I take it this is an external hard drive? And does the USB port recognize other devices, like a flash drive?

I would disconnect and unplug the device, reboot everything. If this doesn't work, can you check the device with another computer?

Need to narrow down if it is the device or your machine.:wave:wave:wave

Is there a way of monitoring this queue?

I have some emails that are showing in the tracking viewer of having the wrong email address and therefore failed. I've read up that there is an 'unreachable queue' but I can't see where it is to view it and whether I can move or force the items to deliver that are in there.

Can anyone advise please?

Dear all

Not sure if Networking is the right category for this, but here goes...

We have several Windows Server 2003 boxes in a remote hosting centre that we connect to via Remote Desktop Connection from our offices. At the end of each working day, it's usual practice simply to close the RDC window, and in the morning we can reconnect to the same session and quickly resume working. But on a regular basis, one of the boxes (let's call it W2) becomes unreachable by morning, as in, it's unpingable and to all intents and purposes no longer on the internet.

To resolve this we can use Terminal Services Manager on one of the other remote boxes (let's call it W3) to connect to the problem box and reset the session. But we can only do this from W3 - none of the other remote machines can see W2 at this point in time. When the session has been reset, W2 once again becomes reachable remotely.

The Event Log shows up various suggestions but none of them are conclusive. About a week ago I had this, with a Source of "TermDD", which I thought looked promising:

Event ID 50
Error
The RDP protocol component X.224 detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client.
But I've not had it since and the strage behaviour has continued.

I've also had messages with a Source of "W32Time" that go like this and suggest the moment at which the disconnect occurs:

The time provider NtpClient is currently receiving valid time data ... Read more

Answer:Remote Windows server becomes unreachable

Is bumping frowned upon around here? Apologies if so...
