Outook 2010 ERR (AUTH)

Question: Outook 2010 ERR (AUTH)

Here we go again - another problem with Outlook, but this time I think it is Yahoo UK (please note UK):

I have had 1 email acct with gmail and 2 email accts with Yahoo UK. They have worked fine until a few days ago. When I try send/receive one Yahoo account came up with error 0x800CCC92. I finally removed it and when I tried putting it in as new, the test message would not work. After repeated attempts, I now can send for some reason, but for receiving I get:

Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings. The server responded: -ERR (AUTH) Incorrect username or password.

I can access my email on the web for that account with no problem. All of the settings are exactly the same as the Yahoo account that works and I still cannot get the incoming to work on this one.

Any ideas?

Preferred Solution: Outook 2010 ERR (AUTH)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Outook 2010 ERR (AUTH)

2 days after this post, Yahoo sent & received with no problems and I did nothing to make that happen. All was fine until today - it is happening again!

Afternoon to you all.I am using Outlook 2010. If I click a link contained in an e-mail I get the following message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator" I am useing a personal laptop, Win7 and I am logged on as administrator. Any ideas anyone?ThanksBill

Answer:Help using Outook 2010

If it is only that one Email, I would guess Outlook classes it as a security risk/virus/trogan and will not allow it.You could check the security settings (may be set too high)or if it is an attachment, you may have to save it first, before trying to open it.Terry

Save this page to your HD using SAVE AS and create a file name with the extension HTML.

Now go to the folder where you placed it and double click on the file name.

Does it open in your browser?

I am operating on Windows 7 OS and am having difficulty with Outlook for Office 2010. It always asks for a password each time I sign on and when I open an email. For some reason it doesn't store my password.

Answer:Outook 2010 always requires password

That problem is by no means unique to Outlook 2010, it happens also on Outlook 2007 and on the version before that, and neither is it unique to Windows 7.

Try putting your POP3 server name and password into the "Credential Manager" in Control Panel. For good measure I entered my email credentials twice -- in "Windows Credentials" and in "Generic Credentials". I hardly see that pesky password prompt since doing that.

I know there have been some posts going back over a year, but none of them fully solve this issue. For years, the best way to sync Outlook 2010(without corporate exchange server) to the windows phone has been to use the Google Calendar connector to get to their cloud and then onto the Windows phone. This had the advantage of doing two-way synchronization and working with the default calendar in Outlook (the existing .PST file).
Google fully discontinued this service on August 1. Microsoft does not have as simple a solution. The two options I've seen for cloud syncing are to use the Microsoft Hotmail Connector and to use Google App Sync. The Hotmail Connector does not work with the default Outlook profile which means than when an invitation is received from any email account other than hotmail/ it saves to the default calendar, and you then have to copy it to the hotmail calendar in order to sync. The Google App Sync requires a whole different profile with a migration which is an equally big headache or possibly greater. So, neither of these options work without making a lot of manual intervention.
I've been using a local sync program called CompanionLink to sync contacts, notes and tasks. It can sync the calendar but has a couple of disadvantages. 1) you need to manually sync calendar which is not good if constantly on the go and always want to have your appointments. 2) CompanionLink does not feed appointments into the native calendar so it won't appear on the loc... Read more

Answer:How to sync Outook 2010 (non-corporate) with Windows phone?

Frankly the best solution is to sign up for MS Office 365. The cheapest plan (Exchange Online) is $4 per month per user, so for $48/year, you'll get seamless sync of contacts, calendar, tasks, and if you choose, email and more, across Outlook and Windows Phone.
Not free, but works much better than Google's App Sync, the Hotmail Connector, and any of the local sync solutions, and it'll work great with any other devices you add in to sync with (since everything supports EAS).

Thought I'd ask you guys while I'm thinking.

We use NPS at work to do authentication for wireless and I'm about to redo the entire network so I decided to change lots of things. Right now we authenticate the device or the user ID, once someone logs in the user ID takes over, this is great as it provides a way of SSO with our web filter. The problem is that we have only one network and Students have figured out how to get their devices on the network. I want to block them but I don't want to go to MAC authentication.

I'm going to have several SSIDs in the new layout but the one where students will be allowed will need to only allow them on domain devices, all the other ones I can simply deny their account access. Any Ideas? The Access points are going to be Aruba IAPs in the 300 series I believe. I think we're supposed to get a controller too but I don't have that info (I laugh as I'm doing the logical work now and I'm physically starting on this in a week or two)

Answer:Wireless enterprise auth, keeping devices off without MAC Auth

I would recommend using EAP-TLS authentication for the wireless network. This will require some PKI work, but I feel it's the best way to handle this use-case. Users will authenticate to the network using a certificate - you can either do a computer or a user certificate, generally people use a user cert. This way on the Student Domain Wireless, they will need a certificate provided by Group Policy in order to authenticate to the network.

I found the following information, but it's about 3 years old. I would recommend reaching out to your Aruba people to find out if they have a more up-to-date setup guide.

Question: outook calendar

Bought a new laptop, took my Office 2000 Professional to be installed, instead he put on another Outlook. I installed Outook 2000, removed his program and now I get an error re:pst file. Any idea why I can't send/receive mail?

Question 2: My three year old laptop worked fine until the power cord somehow pulled the plug-in from the motherboard. Repair shop kept it for three weeks, said they soldered it several times and it wouldn't hold, so they sold me a new one. Did I get ripped off or is it next to impossible to fix?

Thanks so much for any advice given,

Answer:outook calendar

Hello and Welcome to TSF

I cannot answer your first question, there is not enough information to go off of. You need to post a complete error message and when you recieve this error.

As for question 2, yes you can solder those connections back on to the motherboard but sometimes they dont hold as they stated. You may just have had a unexperienced person do the soldering, hard to tell.

I always keep a backup of my Outlook .pst file just n case I need it...

Just doing a back up and notice that the files do not have any association linked... I am sure it used to show the Outlook icon but can't be sure... can anyone confirm this.. I did try to link to Outlook but is failed...

This is what I mean...

This is what I get when I try to associate it to Outlook... Which seems odd... unless it is because Outlook is open?

Answer:Outook Office 365 .pst

Mine have the Outlook association, I'm using the Office 2016 package rather than the Office 365 but should be same.

I would advise you use the installer (uninstaller - Change), to do a repair rather than manually setting the association as the Office associations are not standard

After reading around on information week I ran across an interesting topic regarding 802.1x authentication + Wireless APs. I wanted to setup a wireless network here at work utilizing 802.1x auth so I setup a test environment. My test environment includes the following:

1) Server 2008 installed in VMware Server 1.07
2) WRT54GL + DD-WRT v24
3) Dell Laptop with wireless (Win XP Pro)

I have been doing some reading and all the tutorials I have found refer to Server 2003 and I"m a little confused by the new interface in 2008. Have any of you guys setup anything like this with Server 2008 and Wireless AP that supports 802.1x? If so could you explain how you did so? I would appreciate any help what so ever,

Thanks guys,

I finally ditched Outlook for my emails and went with Thundrbird, which looks like a great program. However, I still have to rely on Outlook for the Calender and Tasks features. I looked around a little, and found Lightning, but the reviews where not completely supportive. And I would like to have it integrated in my email client, so Sunbird is probably out.

I found this:

Save the email as a template. Select the "Office" button, and then "Save As" in the "Save as type" drop-down list. Select "Outlook Template." Give the template a name, and choose a file location, or accept the default folder of "Templates." Click "Save."

BUT there is no option in the SAVE AS drop down menu for Save As Template....

Hi guys, this question is not for me but for my sister. She refuses to give up her Incredimail. She is getting the (AUTH)authenticity error every time she logs on to check her mail. Does anyone know what the thing is and how to fix? Thanks in advance for your time.....

Answer:AUTH error

It sounds to me like it might not be authorizing the password. I would check with Incredimail for the correct password and they are case sensitive. They should send it to her in email to the email address she provided when she logged in.

I'm on Win XP SP2 and getting really slow startups. When I boot up into windows (after 4 minutes) I have about 2 minutes to log on and cancel the NT Auth shutdown by using shutdown -a on the command line. As an added bonus my NA 2005 wont start to scan, it'll just sit there 'preparing'. an Ad-ware SE scan retrieves nothing and I can't find anything outstanding in hijackthis.

This also happens in safe mode funnily enough. I disabled automatic updates after some situation in the past, shoudln't have done that.

It sounds like your system has been infected by the Blaster Worm. Have a look at the following links:

Short end of story:

I have a company issued Cingular 2125 Smartphone which was set up to Sync to our company exchange server.

I was having issues with the phone and was instructed by Cingular to update the firmware.

I did not save the Exchange Server Authentification Certificate, so now when I go to Sync with the exchange server it bitches about my lack of the security certificate.

The Outlook Webmail interface uses the same cert., however using both FF2 and IE7 I cannot figure out a way to actually find the certificate so I can use Active Sync to move it over to my phone so it will sync properly. I can view the certificate details through IE7 Internet Options or through FF2's page info, but can't find the actual certificate file to move over to my phone.

Thanks for any help.

Answer:Outook Express - log file problem

Try some maintenance first and see if this helps to clear it up.
Close all programs except Outlook Express, including any antivirus programs you may have running.

First in OE, Tools>Options>Maintenance, uncheck the option for: Compact messages in the background and leave it unchecked from now on.

File>Folder>Compact all Folders. Leave the computer alone until it has completed compacting.

Let us know if this resolves the problem or not.

I created a database in Access 2007. I am a relative newbe at this. One of the functions that I am using is a macro that Microsoft supplied as part of a Contacts table/form template to add Contacts from Outlook to the Contacts table in the the database. It was working just fine until I split the database, putting the tables on a server and the front end on my local PC. After splitting, it will no longer work. I have spent hours searching the Web and found 100's for people asking the same question, but no solution. Front and back end files are all in Trusted locations. Went back to a copy of the pre-split database (which still worked) and copy the object to the new split database. Would not work in the new database. . Saw some talk about using a temp Contacts table, but it did not give enough detail for me to follow.

Anyone have any ideas

Long story short I'm needing to add somekind of a username & password prompt to a Windows 2008 IIS7 server. To be honest IIS isn't my cup of tea, especially when it comes to picking the authentication type. There are so many choices: basic authentication, digest authentication, windows authentication, form authentication, and so on. If anyone can provide any guidance on which on to use, please post.

FYI, the server is alone.. meaning it has doesn't have access to active directory or a database.

Edit: The server uses SSL.

Answer:Picking the Most Appropriate IIS Auth entication

If you haven't figured this out already.. There's good summaries of the different Authentication types on MSDN... For what you're trying to do, set the Authentication to Basic (glad you have SSL), then turn off Anon access.

After that, take a look at the Authorization Rules. Auth Rules are new in IIS7... With Auth Rules you can easily use Windows user accounts or groups to lock down a site or directory. Just setup the users you want with Windows user accounts... When you try to access the site, you'll get a pop-up dialog to enter a username and password...

The only other option in your situation is Form Authentication.. But that gets more complicated (and I don't remember ATM whether you need a DB back-end of some sort.. Too late, time for bed.) .

I have a Cisco ASA 5505 with RADIUS set up and working already. I only have a single Windows Server that is a domain controller and has IAS installed. I am currently authenticating users via RADIUS. I also want to authenticate management of the device via RADIUS. I have gotten this to work as well. I want to authenticate VPN access against one Active Directory group, and management against another. The problem is that I do know if it's possible split these when using one RADIUS server. Is there a way to distinguish the traffic so that one policy is for VPN and one for management?

Answer:Cisco RADIUS(IAS) Auth

im fairly certain that you'd need seperate RADIUS units ( IE seperate Routers)

Unless your router is able to run 2 different subnets, your gonna need dual units.

i am asking for someone else to follow me up on this though, as im not a expert.

Ran a few scans and removal from various malware removal SWs and they didnt seem to be able to get rid of this file auth.dll(alcohol120) and disabled the BHO for auth.dll in IE, it seems like there could be multiple infections as well.
Need your help please in fixing this, been working on it the past few days and looks like I am getting nowhere with it.

Hello,* Download Combofix to your desktop.Doubleclick combofix.exeFollow the prompts.Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang. When finished and after reboot (in case it asks to reboot), it should open a log, combofix.txt. Hey guys im back with another issue....

I had resurfaced my cyberpower cd when i was having the installation issues, the cd comes with windows xp pro service pack 1. Since then, when installing, it dont ask for a cd key, but the 30 day activation comes up on the desktop. I tried modifying the serial to the right one in the registry (it had the wrong one) and installed an update, now when i log on my pc it goes straight to "Activate windows now" i click no, it goes to my login for windows, yes brings me to the authentication menu. I put in the right serial no. thats on the side of my case (only been used twice, mind you) and it says invalid key. So now the only way im using my pc is theres a link to the internet there, i use that and use iexplorer, click file and open. I tried calling microsoft but they told me to call cyberpower, which i doubt will help since the pc was ordered from them 4 yrs ago. I dont have money for new XP. Any suggestions?

Answer:Windows Auth. Issue

I would do one of two things.

First call cyberpower and have them give you a proper code for the windows that you purchased from them.

If they can not help you then call Microsoft and see if they will re-authenticate it for you.

If neither of these will work then you are going to have to purchase a new windows xp install disk with a legal key code.

Question: Website Auth Flaw

Question if you may on network security, i have discovered a security flaw in a new website my company has created that we use to record MAC addresses, serials and various other vanilla config data. the flaw allows an unauthenticated user to view and download this data, my question is: can a hacker use MAC addresses to hack a system, is this really such a big flaw that i have to report it? the reason i don't really want to report it is that i use this hole in to automate my work via scripting and if they patch it i would have to do this work manually, so do you think i should report it or not??

Answer:Website Auth Flaw

You should report any possible disclosure of sensitive data.

That said, MACs are pretty much useless since they're insecure themselves.

Hi all, I have been trying for a couple of days now to get two-factor auth for windows logon working on my X1C Type 3443. I am running Windows 7 (64-bit) with Lenovo System Update 5.06.0007, Lenovo Solution Center, ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software, ThinkVantage Client Security Solution 8.30.0031.00. If it's of any importance, my X1C was originally shipped with Windows 8, but I couldn't stand it and reinstalled Windows 7 instead. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the above programs in the following order:1) Install System Update and reboot2) Install Solution Center and reboot3) Install CSS and reboot4) Install Fingerprint Software and reboot Everything seems to be working fine by itself, except that when I try to configure two-factor auth in CSS, the Fingerprint tab (on the left of the GUI) is greyed out and CSS tells me that I have no fingerprints enrolled. The Fingerprint Software, however, is working just fine and shows me as having a fingerprint enrolled there. I have spent all morning searching for a solution, but everything I find dates back to 2011, when ThinkPads still came with ThinkVantage Toolbox. I obviously can't download that anymore, so I'm at a loss. Can someone please help? Thanks! Candace

This has been happening for about 6 months now. I have done everything I can do, I have followed every thing that I could find on the net for BHO's and spyware/malware. According to Spybot S&D, AdAware SE, AVG, SpywareBlaster, CWShredder, and BHODemon 2.0 my system is clean. I have follow the sticky on removing coolweb and only had to fix one thing the rest of my sytem was clean. At the bottom I will post my log from HJT.

My prolem is that IE opens itself up while I'm playing a game or working in a text doc(website building). It begins with a small window and then opens another larger window with an ad in it, if I don't close the second window fast enought it will open a third window with yet another ad in it. this causes a loss of focus on anything I am working on, lines it down and looks at the new IE windows that opened up on their own. Also I don't have to be doing anything for the IE instances to begin. When I leave my system on during the day(I work nights), when I come back I have about 10 seperate IE windows open on my desktop. It's not really a problem just more of an annoyance. Currently I use Mozilla Firefox as my default browser and I have IE locked down with zonealarm so that it cannot reach the internet. As I stated above, I have ran out of options of things I can do on my own, tis why I ask any of you for help.

Hello, I was hoping someone could help me with an Outlook 2007 issue a user has been having. Last week, our exchange server was flooded by a lot of e-mails, causing our users messages they tried to send out to fail and given a Outlook delivery delayed message for each. The issue was solved but I have one user who still has a delivery delayed mail in this inbox and upon trying to open it, Outlook crashes and if you try to deleted it, you get the message:

"One or more items in the folder you synchronized do not match. To resolve the conflicts, open the items, and they try this operation again."

I was thinking this notification was in sync with the e-mail that was delayed, so I did a search and couldn't not find anything related to it. Any ideas on who to get rid of this troublesome message?

Hey. So I guess it's been a while since I've seen a computer do something so incredibly idiotic and so obviously stupid, but here it is: Everything's entered in the right fields in the options settings for server connections, and yet my bloody Windows Mail is trying to send e-mails OUT over POP3, when an SMTP server is clearly listed as the outgoing mail server, the POP3 server being for incoming mail. And when I try to send it, a message comes up from "Windows Security" asking to verify credentials to connect to the server, but if I put in my e-mail ID (just the ID part or the full thing including the "") and password, the box will just reappear. And I think there's no mistake, because it's saying it's trying to send messages over the POP3 server. However, one odd thing is that if I uncheck the "my outgoing mail server required authentication" box, it will get an error message saying the server does indeed require authentication. However, I suppose the POP3 server DOES require authentication anyway and it's just getting that error to log on, even if it ultimately can't use it as an outgoing mail server.

I'm going to leave that paragraph up just in case it's helpful, but then I realized that the account name (within Windows Mail) and the server URL were entered as the same thing, so I changed the account name to "Standard Email" so I could differentiate between account name and ser... Read more

Hey all. First post.

I'm setting up an ipsec vpn with preshared keys all around. the size of my network, and planned scale, allows us to implement this design (as opposed to one to many setup).

I'm using cisco routers, the model numbers escape me at the moment. The funny part is is that they are TOO communicative. Anyone sitting on the unsecured network can ping machines behind the routers just fine. While i believe that communications between endpoints are encrypted, that doesn't solve the problem of having unauthenticated nodes having access to machines that are supposed to be off limits. I am wondering about which part of the technologies involved is responsible for doing this access control... Is it something to do with the router's logic of handling things between networks? Do i further have to use access lists? That then implies that I know in advance the ip addresses of the secure nodes, and that information can be spoofed.

What i am looking for is a solution that takes into account each nodes preshared key, and if an arbitrary node wishes to send traffic behind a router, it has to present a key, and its assumed that authenticated traffic comes from nodes with ip addresses in the preshared keys list, passing the corresponding key.

Which technology do I use to implement this functionality? Is it possible that i've included too many ethernet interfaces on the router's vlans? do routers automatically route traffic between two networks, bu... Read more

We have about 20 PCs accessing the Internet via a broadband connection on a NT server running AnalogX Proxy.

I have been trying to get the Email clients to use server authentication, but it is not working.
If I look at the Proxy log, I find 'SMTP EHLO unknown command', and I therefore feel AnalogX does not support SMTP Authentication.
The setup is :
NT4 server running AnalogX proxy connected to the internet via a Broadband connection.
The SMTP Server being used is not the ISP connected to.
OE set with 'my server requires authentication' and account name and pw.
Headers of all messages sent have the reverse dns qualified by [may be forged]
The same settings work on direct connections.( checked via laptops which use the LAN in the office and dial up on the move). The message headers have the reverse dns qualified with [authenticated]

Any advice on how I can implement SMTP authentication on my LAN machines?

Thanks a lot,

Hi all,

bit of an odd question here. We're doing a small wireless rollout (4 cisco lightweight AP's and two 1130's in lightweight mode on a 6-port Cisco wireless controller) You'll have to excuse my unfamiliarity with the equipment, as I've only really done wireless config on an 871W and a standalone 1130 AP.
There will be two VLANs accessible by wireless users. One VLAN will be private and have a single SSID, users will auth with their AD creds so long as they are a member of the appropriate security group. The other VLAN with have two SSIDs and be the guest access, with ACL's preventing access to any internal resources, basically they just have internet access. One SSID for our employees to connect personal devices or whatever, and will use AD creds to auth, and the other SSID will be for actual guests. This is where I get a bit lost. the desired function is to have 5-10 accounts with expiry dates. I want people in our "receptionist" security group to be able to provision accounts for guests to connect to our wireless network. They would use AD creds of one of these 5-10 accounts to connect.
I need a solution to have our secretary "hit a button" and have the expiry date of an expired account in the appropriate ou extended, and to reset the password to a randomly generated password that they will provide to the guest.
Anyone done something like this before? if there is some software floating about to do it, cool. If not... Read more

Does anyone know of an easy way to test smart card credentials against an AD server? Something that does NOT involve trying to RDP into a windows box using CAC. I'm looking for a lightweight, simple program that when run, will do nothing except attempt to log on the the AD domain via CAC and immediately logout. All I really need to do is get the lastlogon field updated (using CAC credentials) and i'm pretty sure that can only be updated by the AD system itself.

I just set up a new and first Certificate Authority for our domain. I am doing the web request for a certificate and its giving me a failure due to the object not being found. This makes half sense because well I know its not there, but what I dont get is why its referencing my user object in an OU that has not been around for atleast 2 years. I had someone else here try it and the same thing happened, it referenced the OU he was in quite a while ago.

Only thing ive tried so far is to check my account on every domain controller with ADSI edit and they all show my new distinguished name.

correct is CN=Jon Williams,OU=Server,OU=GIS etc....
incorrect is CN=Jon Williams,OU=Desktop,OU=GIS etc...

Hi there.

PC is Dell box and came with Vista Home Basic OEM. Hard drive has died and so I've replaced it. I don't have installation media for Vista. I've purchased 7 update (English_Windows_7_Professional_SP1_W64_X17-59186.img) from my work to use instead. They are a UK University and have a deal with Microsoft for cheaper licenses for staff.

Install went fine but refuses to activate. Get "invalid key". I've contacted Microsoft by phone but the rather unhelpful lady told me the _only_ way was to reinstall Vista and then upgrade to 7. I thought someone may be able to help here as a) I don't have the media for Vista and b) I'd prefer a fresh install anyway.

So, I just finished setting up internet emails on this SBS2003 box. We have ReverseDNS, SPF, MX, DNS records setup that are correct for their static IP. Unfortunately, the static IP they were given is listed in the dreaded DUL (Dynamic User List) and now a lot of mail gets bounced back right away. I requested to get the IP removed but in the mean time I thought I would setup the Smart Host so they can send mail that way. Their ISP requires authentication and to use port 587 instead of 25. I setup the SmallBusiness SMTP connector to use their SMTP server as the smart host. I also setup outbound authentication with a valid username/password for their account. Everytime we send mail it hangs out in the retry cue with the message "The remote SMTP service rejected AUTH negotiation."

So I thought, okay, maybe I need to set it up on the SMTP Virtual Server instead. So I added the smart host there, setup the outbound port to 587. Then I set the basic authentication username/password to the correct on and click on okay. When I click on okay it gives me this notification: "SMTP COnfiguration: The profile for the user is a temporary profile." I click on okay but from there I cannot okay out of the SMTP Virtual Server properties, only cancel out. If I just put in the some gibberish that isn't valid it will let me okay out of it. Driving me nuts right now. I tried my best GoogleFu but I can't seem to find anything about this particular issue . . . .

I recently purchased an E530 and it was pretty good value. But it comes with a lot of software that I don't want, like SimpleTap, for instance. Most seriously, I found that the fingerprint-reader software addon to Internet Explorer prevented IE from correctly performing basic authentication. I wasted hours chasing this problem down. There's no way of disabling the add-on so I uninstalled the whole Trueident software package. After I did that, Windows explorer crashed every time I tried to open it, reporting that the problem was to do with Power Manager, another Lenovo add-on which seems purely cosmetic. So I uninstalled that as well. Basically I would very much have preferred a clean installation of Windows without these bells and whistles.

Hello and thank you for your time. My computer is not working properly. I have moderate computer knowledge in relation to the general public. I feel that my computer has a virus. It runs Windows XP Home 5.1.2600, a Dell Dimension C521. It has Charter Internet Security Suite. It has all my photos from the past 8 years on it and many important (to me) personal files. I turned on my computer one day and all my personal files were missing. I went to folder options to show hidden files, they did not appear. I downloaded and ran Unhide.exe. They did not appear. After googling generic Trojans, I searched for 7_1,0,0,3_mslagent.dll and a majority of my personal files, music, vids, applications etc. This also goes for when I search a few other mslagent.dlls. Windows Firewall will not start: "Cannot start the security center service on local computer. Error 1899 the endpoint mapper database entry could not be created". Rundll32.exe not responding when I close the Security Center. I ended a few processes thinking they were shifty via advice from a forum, like svchost.exe being run by NETWORK SERVICE then NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM counts down and then shuts down my computer. I went into safe mode and downloaded and ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Wise Registry Cleaner. Malwarebytes says the computer is clean. I don't believe it. Internet Explorer says my current security settings put my computer at risk. Then a window pops up: A program on your computer has corrupted your defau... Read more

Hi all. Irritating & timewasting beyond belief - even for Microsoft - is a hidden shortcut in either Outlook 2007, Office 2007 or perhaps in Windows 7. Centred apparently on the "T" key, a combination of keystrokes reduces the display size of text I type. At enormous waste of time, each occurrence can be remedied, via the View tab in Outlook 2007, then the "zoom" facility. But how do I a) locate the set up instructions for this shortcut, and b) alter or reload them?

I'm a reasonably sensitive typist: this glitch is wasting sooo much of my time. Am in the dire straights of using new Windows 7, with new Office 2007 apps, on a new laptop, a Dell Inspiron 1545.

Advice on shortcut set-up in Outlook 2007, and or in Windows 7 will be much appreciated. Thanks

Answer:Outook 2007 or Windows 7 keyboard shortcut, reducing size of display text.

Is it a laptop you are using.....if so are you sure its not the zoom function on the touch pad

Hey everyone,

I know the error above has to do with internet connectivity but on the PC I am having this problem I only have access to the internet via a basic authenticated proxy. When I check my update logs I can see Windows is trying to access the internet via the proxy but is getting hung up because of lack of credentials.

Is there anyway to store these credentials so that I can get Windows Update to work? They're stored for IE and that works just fine, but Windows Update does not.

Tried 4 or 5 demo versions of a few programs tonight and kinda frustrated.

Basically I want a good updated program that supports both of my CPUs for encoding and burn DVDS. I used Puma Video Converter to change the encoding on a large .AVI file and it work great, both cores @ 100%, very very fast.

However I need something with more functionality. I am trying to burn the last 9 Episodes of the Sopranos to a disk that you can pop in any DVD player, complete with menus(nothing too fancy, simple navigation).

I have found a few tools, and some are great however many dont support multithreading, and other have odd compilation options, such as forcing a 1:1 conversion, e.g. You have to watch whatever you are encoding in real time(very odd).

Others have trouble burning the disk at the end. My Lite-On 20x SATA burner has never had issues in any programs, but one of the studios I tried tonight wouldnt even recognize it.

Hope it isn;t too tall an order.

Almost every time I open the start menu, I get the proxy authentication popup, despite ticking the box save the details. There are also a whole bunch of potential proxy servers which can be connected to (I'm at university), and it randomly selects which one to connect to (as this would be the default for "automatically detect settings" in Internet Options.

Cortana isn't available in my country, and I've changed the search menu to not use bing to find results. I have no internet-accessing apps pinned to start. Why is it constantly trying to access the internet? Why won't it save my details after the first login despite it trying to access the same proxy? Maybe too many proxy requests lined up after each other?

Am I the only person frustrated by this issue? Proxies are annoying enough without Win10's start menu!

Having a lot of issues with the new explorer 11 but the most baffling is this:
Say a user has (against policy) checked the box on the basic auth box allowing IE to remember the password. In previous versions even though this is checked each time the proxy sends the 407 response the box would popup with the information entered. IE 11
is not doing this, it just responds to the 407 with the credentials that were saved and goes on. Now this is a REAL problem if a user with admin access has entered their info for one reason or another and missed the fact that the box was checked. And I can
find no way to clear the cached credentials, deleting everything does not help nor no setting I can find including setting HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings DisablePasswordCaching = 1 (which never worked in Windows 7 but still
popped up the auth box). The ONLY way I have found to clear the credentials is to have the user change their password so the password fails. As we are saddled with several large vendors requiring the use of IE I need to know how to fix this and keep it from
ever happening again. It is the most unacceptable behavior I have ever seen from a company that specializes in unacceptable behavior in their software products

I have a new issue that has come up since we converted an Access database to 2007 file format.
Here is the history.

We have an access database that was created in the old file format. In that database there is a button that opens up word and a mail merge file. Word's mail merge then uses a query from the access database to populate the mail merge document.

We recently converted the Access database to the Office 2007 file format and now the merge process will not work.
I have tried to relink the files and have done some research and it appears that the DDE way of connecting is no longer used in Office 2007. I did finally get to the point where I could see the queries i needed but once I try to open that data source Word give me a general error that it can not open the data source.

How can I get these merge files working again?

PS. We are running Windows XP if that is needed.

We are quickly moving to office 2010 also but that uses the same file format as 2007 so I assume it won't be an issue. Any help you can give me would be GREAT!.

Hi, I have set up a new Access 2010 database (saved as .accdb) (copying tables, forms and queries from my current one then deleting the old data and modifying a lot of fields). I have a query in with some simple calculations. All the calculations work perfectly in Access. When I merge this into Word 2010 (set up as a letter document) it doesn?t use/show the correct data.

The calculated fields in the query are ?number of people * price tea & coffee = cost tea & coffee? and ?number of people * price buffet = cost buffet". I then use these costs in the same query to work out ?VAT? (another calculated field adding up the calculated "cost tea & coffee" and calculated "cost buffet" as well as a number of other non-calculated fields and multiplying the total by 0.2) and ?Total Cost? (a calculated field adding up various non-calculated fields, the calculated "cost tea & coffee", calculated "cost buffet" and the calculated VAT field).

There are two errors in the data that ends up in the merged Word document:
The "VAT" doesn?t add in the two calculated fields, it only uses the data from non-calculated fields in the query.
Also the "Total Cost" doesn?t add in any of the calculated fields (teas & coffees, buffet and VAT), it only uses non-calculated fields from the query.

It doesn?t ping up any error messages. Why is it changing the data between Access (where the query works per... Read more

Hi All,
I would like to know is there is any way i can Integrate of Access 2007 , Sharepoint 2010 and Info Path 2010, because as far as my knowledge we can upload Access 2007 into Sharepoint 2010. In Sharepoint i cannot able to use Access 2007 forms so i need to create another good looking way of showing the access lists.
Can you please anyone help me how i can implement this and if we can what are the requirements need to be done, like tools required and steps for the implementation.
If anyone can suggest some books also i can able to read it and learn it myself.
All the response are welcome and thanks for all your support.

Answer:Integration of Access 2007 , Sharepoint 2010 and Info Path 2010

I see no one is offering anything on this post. Not a great site for SharePoint(SP) information. But SP its self is relatively new for developers. We can't afford real SP developers so se make our own. Not a great plan but we are supporting a large SP site.

I think with Access 2007 the best approach is to use it to update list and make reports from list. There is no integration to InfoPath forms that I know of. You have to build them on top of your list with SP Designer.

I did find this video in my favorites that says publish access 2007 to SP2010. I haven't whatch recently...
If you really need Access (in SP) you have to go to 2010. I waited till Access and SP 2010 were available on a test site and build a relatively simple db with a couple of reports and queries that did funcion correctly (without too much alteration). I did have to key each table before it would 'publish'. The 'publish' wizard will walk you thru needed fixes. I looked for the DB to refresh my memory but someone has rebuilt the test site and dropped it.

Any way good luck. I wish I had some recent experience on the issue to offer. Maybe this will 'bump' your thread and get some more information!

Good morning everyone,
So the other day something incredibly weird had occurred. I was receiving email normally on my phone, came into work, logged in, and began working on my trouble tickets. I noted that when I went back to Outlook to view an email, the email in particular was gone... and then all were gone. My folders, and emails within them, still remained the same. I attempted to research what on Earth happened but I haven't been able to find anything specific to my issue.
I'm using Outlook 2010 connected to an Exchange 2010 server for work. Outlook was setup as cached exchange mode but that has since been changed. The emails also disappeared from my phone's inbox too... it's as if everything was deleted and Exchange figured that's what it should be and synced everything that way. Deleting my OST didn't resolve or resync anything. I ran the scanpst tool on the ost file which reports 93 errors, but as I read the scanpst tool can't repair an OST and thus doesn't do anything.
Does Outlook have some sort of log that may explain what on Earth happened? I can't find any error messages or any other reasons for what may have happened. My view settings weren't changed, nothing has changed on my end. There is no spyware / malware installed on the PC as far as I can tell. No real issues in the Sync issues folder other than a Forms syncing issue which seems to be related to Exchange needing a patch (but can otherwise be ignored).
I will give you... Read more

Answer:Outlook 2010 / Exchange 2010 randomly deleted inbox email?

Are you the only person using that Exchange server who has this issue? Check with the IT department to see if they can recover the emails in your mailbox from the server. It's possible they recently did some maintenance on the mail server that caused this issue. That fact that both Outlook and your phone are having this issue points to this being an Exchange server problem, as Outlook uses autodiscover and MAPI while your phone uses ActiveSync to connect to the server.
Do you have access to your email using Outlook Web Access? If so, log in and see if the emails are there. If not, it's definitely a server issue.
If your mail is still on the server, one thing you could try is re-enabling the cached Exchange mode, saving the change, and then restarting Outlook. The last thing to try is to delete the email account profile and recreate it. Make sure to get the proper settings from IT if you don't already have them -- although since you are using Exchange and autodiscover, that's usually just a case of entering your username and password when you recreate it.

Thanks in advance for your knowledge and here it goes....Running XP (last update 1/16/2010) IE8 SP3 (late update 1/23/2010) and Avast 4.8 Home edition w/ ZoneAlarm firewallI have read the tutorial for this forum and have tried to follow all instructions, however I was not able to backupmy data using Cobian. I followed the instructions in the tutorial but I could not get my system to recognize the new drive of G:\ so at this time nothing is backed up. I know this is a "stupid" questions but if I back up my files willit backup any of the virus/malware/trojan programs on my desktop? Some other info:Originally the malware disabled my fire wall (the MS onboard one) and the malware displayed a "fake" security center screen and all links brought up various fake pop-up's of infections etc... I was able to download the ZoneAlarm firewalland it seems to be working. It is blocking outbound requests from my system to the internet and asking for approval..I have to assume this is a good thing. This morning when I tried to run Avast it said the operating system was infected and to reboot and a virus scan would be run at boot-up. I did this and now things are better (ie the Security setting look Microsoft normal for the firewall)....I'm still running the ZoneAlarm firewall at this time. However all the pop-ups and other crap is still there.*** Additional info added 1/28 **running avast at bootup found approx 20 virsus and rootkit files and... Read more
