Preferred Solution: Firefox wont load unless I re-install or load from programs...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I click the icons in each case and the process starts in task manager but the memory used doesn't change im guessing this suggests this means its frozen. no window appears except for word where the microsoft word loading box appears. it seems weird how only these programs are affected and there wasn't a sudden occasion that all 3 stopped working over the last day they started to not load. however recently itunes has started to load but freezes imediatly. oh and btw my computer has had no problem running these programs in the past and has done problem free for a year without problems.
Thanks,
Jack

I have a Dell Inspiron N5050 laptop with windows 7 home edition 64 bit.  Whenever I try to open or run AVG the application freezes.  I've tried installing skype and the installer usually won't even launch or it will freeze part way through.  I've ran online virus scans but nothing shows up.  Also internet explorer will not launch.  I get a system message saying internet explorer has stopped working.  It looks for solution but doesn't find anything.

Answer:AVG freezes when attempt to open. Some programs wont install. IE won't load.

Backstory (skip if you need)
I'm fixing someones laptop, It was slow and taking 30 minutes to startup, i did the usually virus scan and restarted, then it was stuck in an auto repair loop. I used a windows 8 Install CD from microscoft. None of the options in it would work, install (key doesnt match) reset (missing partition), image recovery (cant find an image), restore (no restore point), etc.

Used command prompt, did stuff like bootrec, bcdedit, diskpart, and chkdsk. After it ran chkdsk it finally loaded windows. I reset/reinstalled the OS completely. Fixed, restarted, running smooth. Owner said it was working great for a day, then after turning it back on it was in an auto repair loop.

Now
It's stuck in a preair loop, I can't even boot from the 8 CD! Have it configured in the bios, it shows the the blue windows logo then the screen goes black for 3 minutes and a blue screen flashes for 1 second saying  "Your PC ran into a problem and need to restart. Collecting some info (0% complete) search online for error: 0x000021a"

The weird thing is, Windows 7 disks boot fine, but it's "not compatible". And if I physically remove the HDD, it will boot into the windows 8 CD. So I put the HDD back in (while still at the command prompt) and it wont take my commands in related to the C: . I get a "System cannot find the drive specified"

I also tried hooking upp the HDD to my PC SATA, it shows in explorer, but just right clicking it crashes explorer.exe. D... Read more

Answer:Windows wont load, Boot CD wont load, Automatic Repair Loop

UPDATE:

I got a windows 8.1 disk made and it allowed me yo boot from the CD, but it's SLOOOOW, it takes minutes to load reset or w.e (none of them still work), or open the command prompt.

I ran chkdsk /f /r /x but it didnt help. chkdsk /r ends with:
"A disk read error occurredcc0000185
Insufficient disk space to fix the Usn Journal $J data stream."

Before when I ran it, I'm pretty sure it let me restart and booted into windows, not now.

Next I tried bootrec.
/fixmbr - succesful
/fixboot - succesfull
/rebuildBCD - Total identified Windows installations: 0
/scanOS - Total identified Windows installations: 0

Next bcdedit
Nothing worked "The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found."

Next sfc /scannow
"There is a system repair pending which requires reboot to complete. Restart Windows and run sfc again."
Then sfc /SCANNOW /OFFBOOTDIR=c:\ /OFFWINDIR=d:\Windows
"Windows resources protection didnt find integrity violations"

BCDBoot c:\WindowsFailure when attempting to copy boot files

Next diskpart - but I forgot what I did before that may have worked. All i can remember is I had to select a disk or volume, and do something with it.

Heres the problem im having. I just bought a new X-Fi sound card. just the music one for $130. I decided to just format when installing it. I used to have an Audigy 2. So i installed the new card. Formatted. I did all the things i normall do. install all the drivers i need. and do all of the windows updates. and install AVG. And i installed the drivers for the sound card straight from the disc. and i checked to updates on the sound card on creatives website. only one for the mini disc i think. I havnt even installed one game yet. Now the computer is being stupid. When i turn it on, it runs fine for a while. Then i try to turn on a program or something, like mozilla or windows media player. and it does nothing. and the hardrive light turns on, and just stays on. and the computer wont open anything after this happends. Then i go to task manager, and check the proccesses. the process will be there that i tried to open. i try to end task it, but nothing happends. only thing i can do to restart my computer. and it takes like 10 min to restart after this happends. it ask me to end task like 5 things for some reason. i dont want to format again and see if that helps. i dont know if thatll even fix the problem. I installed all the same drivers that i usually do. only thing that was different was i went from ati catalyst 4.5 to 4.10 and thats it. Any clues?

Question: Firefox wont load

Hi,
I've somehow cocked up Firefox. I downloaded a file from the Tor site to try the proxy IP program and installed it. I couldn't get it to work so I unistalled it but Firefox refused to start. I clicked the shortcut but the hour glass appeared for about a second then nothing. I have since uninstalled Firefox 3.0.9 together with all folders etc. and reinstalled it but just the same. A message appeared on 1 unistall saying that I had to close Firefox to uninstall it so even though nothing appears on the desktop it must be running somewhere! I even tried going to a restore point before the download from the Tor site but no difference.

Any ideas please.

Dave

Well the title says it all! When I click on Firefox it wont load. This has just happened out of the blue. I have about 15 open tabs and I get the same message on them all:Server not found Firefox can't find the server at click here. * Check the address for typing errors such as ww.example.com instead of click here * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection. * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.IE 7 will load ok, though this site (Pcadvisor) gives me in the bottom left of screen (Done, but with errors on page" and videos dont seem to play. Earlier tonight when Firefox was working, it just froze. I couldnt close it, except by turning of the laptop.Earlier I ran adaware and deleted 60 items. What is going on I wonder?? h

Answer:Firefox wont load but IE will

OK, I turned off Comodo Firewall and Firefox loaded. Then after a while it seemed to freeze, so I shut it down. i tried to open it again, but it wouldnt as it said it was already open!So I closed down the laptop and reopened and its ok again, but I wonder whats going on? And it worked fine with Comodo up till now. I wonder have I malware/spyware? I only have adaware, should I check with something else?h

Also I'm connected by a router and the other connectors are fine. I tried restarting the computer, the modem, even the permissions, but no dice. Anyone have any idea or had a similar experience?

Hi guys

I started at University the other day, and the internet has been working fine, until yesterday when I came back to campus after returning home for a few days.

I tried straight away to sign into oovoo, but it wouldnt sign in.. so I tried skype.. and it loaded. Then I stopped the call after chatting for a while and I tried to switch over to my other skype account. It wouldnt sign in.. just like the oovoo problem.

Today, Google has been loading fine all day long under the google.co.uk address, but now when I try to load it, it comes up as if it cant load (like when you dont have a connection, but I can still load the google search engine by going through my gmail account and clicking on the search on the top toolbar. And Im using the internet now, so I know it works apart from that.

Anyone know whats going on? Im using a Acer Aspire 5733Z with Windows 7 64bit, if that helps at all.

Chris

Answer:Certain programs and websites wont log in or load?

2 minutes after I post this, google.co.uk now loads and works fine for me, but oovoo and skype are still down. Seems strange this..

Hello shintx,

Our sincere apologies for the oversight of your thread.

If you still require assistance, please do the following:

Hi there,

I've been using firefox for the past 8 months or so and i've been really happy with it, and have experienced no problems whatsoever. I use it everyday and including last night when I went to check my gmail and I got the Alert error-"gmail.google.com cannot be found. Please check the name and try again" So I thought it might have been my broadband connection-but I could access gmail via IE6. I've checked my firewall and anti-virus settings and all appears to be fine. Ive re booted the machine and uninstalled and reinstalled firefox but i cannot access any pages through it. It's sooooo frustrating!!! Any ideas on even why this is happening would be terrific!
Thanking you!

I'm no HTML guru, but I know a thing or two and I think it has to do with the poor job they did on the source code there. If you view the source, you will see that towards the end, they end it with the body, then the html tags. That's normal, but then they try to add more scripting, and then finally end with an unneeded body tag and a misplaced form tag...

Code:
</body>
</html>

<script> .......</script>

</form> this doesn't belong here

My browsers wont load most pages for some reason, started about 2 hours ago out of the blue. This site loads obviously, and a few others but the majority wont. If i hit refresh several times some will eventually load while others dont only to have the ones that dont start working 10 mins later. I've ran Antivirus, and spyware detectors and came up clean. Also cleared out all temp internet files, cookies, etc and ran windows washer to be sure. Download speeds are good, everything seems to be working fine except the browers. Tried reinstalling Firefox and its still the same. Any help would be appreciated..

Answer:IE and Firefox wont load some pages

If you can load some websites then the issue is with the websites your trying to connect to ie their servers are down, they no longer exist or they have changed their web address, if you cant load any websites at all then the issue is with your internet connection.

Hi folks

I am unable to load this website

http://panel.gfkireland.com

It is a survey panel, all above board. Ive emailed them and they cannot figure out any problem at their end. Ive emailed another forum too and the replies said that they had no problem getting it to work. SO it must be my problem!

Ive tried it in Firefox and IE 7, all to no avail. Im using Vista; the laptop is pretty new. No problem with any other websites. But this just wont work.

I have broadband, and using a wireless router.

I did have a problem submitting a post longer than 8-10 lines to Wealthy Appiliate forum about 6 months ago. Again they checked it out and tried everything and to no avail. If the post was shorter there was no problem. Really weird.

My ISP webmaster cannot figure out why this should be. Im not sure if the 2 problems are connected. Someone suggested the router firewall....??? Do I have one, I dont know! Im using Vista firewall. Why would the firewall affect 1 site or 1 post?

I've also, just tonight, tried it on my sisters connection down the road, and still no joy. She's using the same service provider.

PLEASE HELP!!!!
thanks

This probably messed up your firefox profile, which in turn could be why firefox will not load. Read through this link here to set up a new profile to see if that works.

Let us know how it goes ; )

EDIT : Just remembered, before you do that see if it firefox boots up with add-ons disabled, to do this start hold down the shift key while starting Firefox, and see if it runs if it does try disabling add-ons in safe mode then re-enable one at a time until you find the one that is causing the issue, then remove it.

My startup program lists on msconfig is cleared up and not even a single program

i even tried 3rd party softwares to add them on startup registry, but after another

I am connected to my internet - Safari and MSN work.

When I try and get on IE or FireFox, it tells me something is interrupting my connection. The ONLY thing I did before this happened was download Microsoft Office.

I have checked to see if my firewall was affecting it, but my firewall is not even enabled. Any suggestions?

I hope someone can help me out.

I can't open any sites in IE. However, Firefox just without a hitch. All other programs can access the Internet too. I did the basics like running the network wizard, yada yada yada. Checked the Hosts file, clean. Ran spyware/adware removal apps (found none... since Firefox rocks!). No virus'. Turned off firewall. Am I missing something here perhaps?

Here's what i got:
- Win XP SP2
I think i've got all the updates - but can't check since IE wont open.
- D-Link ethernet card, going through SMC router to Cable Modem.

if there's anything else you need to know, just ask

Any suggestions would really be great!

Thanks

Tom

Maybe the website is down.

Maybe you have a HOSTS file entry that prevents visiting that website.

Answer:a Particular website wont load in either IE or Firefox query

Bleeping Computer DOES NOT recommend the use of registry cleaners/optimizers for several reasons:? Registry cleaners are extremely powerful applications that can damage the registry by using aggressive cleaning routines and cause your computer to become unbootable. The Windows registry is a central repository (database) for storing configuration data, user settings and machine-dependent settings, and options for the operating system. It contains information and settings for all hardware, software, users, and preferences. Whenever a user makes changes to settings, file associations, system policies, or installed software, the changes are reflected and stored in this repository. The registry is a crucial component because it is where Windows "remembers" all this information, how it works together, how Windows boots the system and what files it uses when it does. The registry is also a vulnerable subsystem, in that relatively small changes done incorrectly can render the system inoperable. For a more detailed explanation, read Demystifying the Windows Registry.? Not all registry cleaners are created equal. There are a number of them available but they do not all work entirely the same way. Each vendor uses different criteria as to what constitutes a "bad entry". One cleaner may find entries on your system that will not cause problems when removed, another may not find the same entries, and still another may want to remove entries required for a program to work... My firefox won't load certain sites. Like i can get to the google home page, but it refuses to search for anything , just says waiting for google forever.
I also can't go to hotmail.com and some other forums too. But youtube works fine , tsf works fine and some others.

Internet explorer works fine with all the site but I hate internet explorer and I want my firefox to go back to the way it was. I reinstalled a bunch with no change, I tried firefox 3 beta 5 and that still was the same. I tried older versions and still nothing. It can't be my firewall because it set to allow firefox and it was working fine with the firewall on before.

I have a NB100 And when it trys to boot i get Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys

I have connected a DVD drive with the product recovery disc GMR400882EN0 inside it and powered on, on booting i keep F12 pressed and I get the options for setting it to boot from HD FDD CD/DVD USB Memory, I set it to boot from CD/DVD

When it loads it gets to loading RAM image I get Error 32768 File PEBASE ISO Could Not Load.

I am suspecting faulty recovery disc? and a new one is 29.99? But the laptop is under warranty but they told me to do this.

My daughter has a Asus 904HD and once she had a problem... She had none of the poor support of go and do it yourself... Asus sent a courier very fast-confirmed pick by text-fixed-delivered back confirmed drop off by text within 5 days!!

>I am suspecting faulty recovery disc? and a new one is 29.99? But the laptop is under warranty but they told me to do this.

I doubt it?s a faulty recovery disk.
The error message: missing or corrupt: System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys could be caused by faulty HDD or another hardware component.
In your case I recommend contacting the Toshiba ASP for hardware check and new OS installation. The notebook is under warranty (as you suggested in the posting above) and therefore everything should be done for free because it?s covered by warranty

I run both IE 8 and Firefox on my Dell Dimension system. I'm having problems now with both browsers taking forever to load. This may be a virus or network problem. IE 8 just loaded now after 15 minutes (exactly - I timed it).

Details:
- Once it's loaded once, both browsers load in normal amounts of time.
- I haven't downloaded any new add-ons lately unless one browser or the other installed one in the background.
- The problem just started today after a reboot.
- I've also noticed that my network icon in the taskbar doesn't show up anymore when I first boot but by the time IE opens, it has showed up.
- Using ipconfig, I did determine that I am on the network and connected immediately after boot up (router also shows me connected immediately).
- I've tried running IE from the command line with iexplore.exe -extoff. It didn't make any difference. I don't know if this works with IE 8 though.
- When I click to open either web browser, the process shows up right away in Task Manager and remains.
- I have all the latest updates to both browsers that I know of.
- I've run a complete system scan with McAfee (fully updated as of today.)

Now I've run out of ideas on what to try. I appreciate any help!

Thanks!
Alec

I dont know if this is posted in the right area but I'm so desperate to get my laptop working its unreal.
First it started off with my laptop crashing, I had totally forgot it needed to do a windows update and turned off my laptop in hopes that it would work properly.
After that my laptop has not been working. The machine turns on and gives me two options. Start windows normally or do a repair. Upon starting windows normally, it loads so far before sending me back to the two options of start windows normally or repair. On the second time I clicked repair. My laptop then goes so far before presenting me with a blue screen that is usually the screen where my accounts are. The cursor still moves but it loads no further even after leaving it an hour. I decided to make a repair disk, hoping that the problem was because of windows. the disk loads, gives me a choice on the keyboard language then does nothing. I honestly have no idea what to do, I want to keep all the files safe on my computer as I havent backed them up and I have worked so hard on the projects. someone please help

Answer:windows 7 refuses to load and system repair wont load

Do a hardware/software reset with your BIOS:Shut down and turn off the computer.
Unplug the computer from the wall or surge protector (then remove the battery if it is a laptop).
"Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station, disconnect
cables to printers or devices such as external monitors, USB memory sticks or SD cards, headset or external speakers, mouse or auxiliary keyboard, turn off WIFI and Bluetooth wireless devices." (Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues HP Pavilion dv5000 Notebook PC series - HP Customer Care (United States - English))
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. This closes the circuit and ensures all
power from components is drained to clear the software connections between the BIOS
and hardware and clear any corruption in the temporary memory.
(If it is a laptop, plug the battery back into the laptop and then) Plug the computer back into the wall. Do not reconnect any unnecessary peripherals; monitor, keyboard,
and mouse should suffice and be the only peripherals reconnected.
Turn it on to reinitialize the software connections between the BIOS and hardware

After doing those steps, clear your CMOS by entering the BIOS (see your system manual for steps to enter the BIOS), going to the EXIT screen, and loading setup/optimized defaults.

This is so weird. One,I have Windows Vista Home Premium. Two,in Problem Reports and Solutions it says "Windows Vista Problem found" and when I click on it it doesn't load.

At first I thought it was some problem with the computer connecting to a network, but I cant see for sure because that wont even load. And now I'm thinking it's an error related to the Operating System, driver or another component. But its something.

I've tried going to Windows Update in Control Panel, but that wont load either. I've tried Windows Help and Support, but when I click on a link to help it wont load anything.
I've tried this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933305 Um,not helping? I tried Task Manager, but I dont get what I can do with that to fix the issue.I've called HP & Microsoft, but no help seems to be given.
I've tried system restoration. I've tried restarting my computer. This is just what it says when I open up a program :
"The application is not responding. The program may respond again if you wait.Do you want to end this process?"

My computer has 335 gb free, its a PC - Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1. 32-bit Operating System.

It simply doesn't load almost any program I have on this computer now. How am I using an internet browser then? Well,I'm using Safe Mode for Firefox, and that's the only reason I can go on the internet. None of my programs are responding and I have no idea why? I kn... Read more

I am using firefox 3.6.10 and I can get into sportsnet.ca no problem. When I want to pick the players for the hockey pool in fantasy games http://fantasy.sportsnet.ca/sportsnet/h ... nter_picks it just sits there saying it is loading but never loads. I tried disabling all the add ons but that did not work, I tried in firefox safe mode and it loaded properly. I uninstalled firefox totally, settings and all and reinstalled firefox but the player selection will not load again. If I run firefox in safe mode again it works properly. I have no problems with IE8 but I want to use firefox. Any help to solve this would be appreciated

I think I have narrowed it down to the google toolbar causing the problem. I dont know if there is a fix for that or if I will have to dump the toolbar and replace it with another. I have been using the google toolbar for years in that site and never had this problem before. I dont see any settings in the toolbar that could cause this. Anyone have any ideas? It is not the google toolbar solely, sometimes it loads sometimes it doesnt when I disable the toolbar. I have done a total uninstall of firefox including personal settings and all but it still wont work properly. The site loads ok with IE8. I have been using the firefox browser for 3 or 4 years now and never had any problems till now

I have used TSG before and am asking for help again. I would post information regarding my computer but I have notbeen able to open any internet connections on my desktop in several days. For some reason there are several non responsive programs on the desktop that will not open. I am writing this from my Asus netbook, which is connected to the same network so I do not believe its the network itself, but who knows. I tried to run HiJackThis, but it would not load, IE and Mozilla Firefox will not open or load...I double click, you see the hour glass, and then, nothing happens. When I try to use contorl-alt-delete to see if the program is nonresponsive my task manager will not open and then my start menu will also not open. Interestingly, my Mozilla Thunderbird email opens with no problems and downloads messages from the server. There are two things that are different about my computer in the last several months. One is that I got rid of my printer and got a new one, and I do not think that would affect the connectivity? The other is that I tried installing google chrome and was super disappointed to find toolbars installed without my knowledge or permission. I didnt care much for the software and did some research, mostly onthis site and found many complaints about the toolbars being downloaded with instalation of chrome and lots of difficulty getting rid of the toolbars despite uninstalling chrome. Hello.

I've been fighting with this problem for days now, I posted to Computing.net's forum but no'one there could help me.

This all started when I tried to open BSplayer, all I got was the message "this program has encountered an error and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." Naturally, I decided to run a spyware check and tried to open Ad-Aware - same result.
Tried to reinstall both programs, the error message started displaying during install.
I opened the computer in safe mode, and noticed that both programs work fine there. I ran Ad-Aware and cleaned the computer, after that I ran Avast and Ewido (both of them work in normal mode) I also tried several online scanners, and the computer should be completely clean. After that I tried to install other anti-spyware and antivirus softwares to see if they'd find something new, but all of the refused to install, I didn't even get an error message, just the error sound.
I tried to check the processes that aren't functioning during safe mode, but found nothing suspicious, yet the culprit has to be something that runs in normal mode, but not in safe mode.

Also, I don't know if it is of any importance, but at the same time I noticed that the programs don't work, a message started to display during log-in that said that "There is no disk in drive A. Please insert a disk". That is a minor annoyance, but I thought that if this is a virus the message could be relevant.

My PC has (well, had) a Pioneer DVD reader. After upgrade to Windows XP, if I put a DVD into the drive with data on it I can't see all the data files from Windows Explorer.

Autoplay appears to work and launches SETUP.EXE but then that fails with a message "Setup.exe failed. Send error report / Don't send".

This was trying to load SIMS 2, I took it back to the shop & it installed OK on their PC with a normal DVD reader. So we reckoned the problem was the Pioneer device - it's quite old.

So I bought a spanking new LITEON DVD/RW drive & installed it in the machine.

Now the Sims2 DVD shows up in Windows Explorer & the files/folders can be seen. I can even copy individual files onto the desktop, but when I start up SETUP.EXE it fails as before.

I've tried a magazine cover DVD. This one goes from Autoplay into start-to-load and then displays "ierunner.exe failed. Send error report / Don't send"

This feels as if it is something missing from the XP device driver setup. But the LiteOn shows up in device manager with its own name - presumably it's picked up drivers from the XP generic device drivers.

Because I get the same error message with both DVD drives, I don't think it's the fault of the drive any more. The Sims 2 DVD works at the shop but not on my PC. The Pioneer was able to load programs OK when the same PC was running Windows 98 (but I don't handle data DVDs very much so that was a long time ago). The Pioneer was able to ... Read more

Answer:Web pages wont load or load completely

Do you have more then 1 computer connected to your modem/router? If so, does this happen on them? If not, can you connect a separate one (ex: friend's laptop) to test?

Normally when you get errors like this it's best to rule out a problem at the modem/router and provider before going crazy over trying to fix a problem (that may not exist) on your PC(s).

Also just a couple of other questions:

Who is your internet provider (ISP)?
What connection type do they use (Cable/DSL/Fiber/Fixed Wireless/Mobile Wireless)?
What is the make and model of your router and modem?

It appears that you have already posted a hijackthis log here. Please be patient while waiting for assistance. HJT Helpers are all volunteers regardless where you post a log. While waiting for a response, you should not ask for help elsewhere or make changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc.) Any modifications you make on your own can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, following advice outside of that post may cause confusion for the HJT Helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. If you had posted your log here, similar rules would apply. We would ask that you be patient while awaiting a reply and refrain from asking for help elsewhere. If you followed any other advice already, please ensure you inform the HJT Team Helper when they respond to assist you with your log. This will help them know what has been done and they probably will ask for an updated log.To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. I do maintenance on my PC often like defrag when needed , disk cleanup and virus scans and use CCleaner often

I have minimal things load on startup of my pc

Any help with this problem would be great

Answer:Some Pages wont load at all and others load fine

Try running a ping to the sites that have trouble loading to see what kind of connection times you are looking at. I would also run a tracert to those sites to see if there are any places dropping the connection.

Update. AVG free is finding nothing. Ad-Aware SE would hang up on me but I think the panda scan took care of that because I ran ad-aware again and it ran through to completion... however it didn't fix any problems.
My Pole Display for our store is not working from the COM port.
My Graphics card isn't giving me the technicolor display anymore because I disabled it, but of course now I can't play games without the hardware acceleration. When I enable it and start the system over it does it all over again.
Generally comp runs slow... When I go to shut down I have to close lots of dll file programs. On start up I get pop ups.

Please help...

so i found this laptop in the garbage and i told myself well i want to do a little project so i have been working with this computer a little bit and at first the problem was the NTLDR is missing the operating system on it was 32bit windows xp toshiba a105 S2141 so i took my malfunctioned acer had no power chord and that was a 64 bit operating system on it , so when i put in the hard drive at first the computer loaded windows files and just restarted a bunch of times but i ended up messing with bios settings and now it loads and then goes into some acer thing and then it says wmi acpi is not supported which i didn't think it would be because its a 64 bit anyway so i have a bunch of windows discs laying around and i put them in and i have one system repair disc 64 bit wich seems to work but gets an error that its not compatible with a 32bit which is obvious but when i put in the 32 bit version of windows it just goes straight to the regular boot pattern and i cant seem to get into the install , is there a way i can fix this issue or even wipe the entire drive without loading windows.?

I don't know what I did wrong in my posting but I never got a reply

anyways.. I have an update just in case someone finds themselves in a similar situation with similar conditions.

I kept running malwarebytes (total full scans= 4) and also Spybot search and destroy until I have no other infections, the infection was first found within a folder inside documents and settings (I forgot the location) and later it appeared in a system volume folder (I believe it was one of the folders from system restore) eventually no other threats were found, then I was able again to load the system in normal mode (the malwarebytes scans were being done in safemode) and after several reboots for testing there were no more traces of the infection causing the random errors when opening applications, and no more missing icons and sections. I did a house call scan and a karspersky online scan with no threats found. system became properly responsive again.

the treat had a very special behaviour: in the middle of my attempts to get rid off it, there was a point in which the system responded so well that I thought that the threat was gone (after first malwarebyte run), when I rebooted though I was back to square one. the lesson learned is that malwarebytes or the tools being used may have to be run more than once until full cleaning is confirmed.

keeping fingers crossed customer may not call back in a while!

I recently installed kaspersky to help a friend scan his drive. nothing has happened since i did it a week ago, but recently i looked into the list of vulnerabilites. i tried to fix the msoffice vulnerability by installing SP2 for office, however it said Kaspersky was blocking it and to turn it off, so i did thinking it was temporary, then it said it had to restart, on restart, kaspersky didnt load, so i tried manually loading it, and nothing happened. when i tried to restart it again it said steam was not responding (which is normal for me during shutdown) but i never noticed steam loaded. so on restart, neither program loaded, except for magic jack which loads after startup. then i tried installing malwarebytes, and it downloads, but closes out during install. So i installed Superantispyware and malwarebytes on a flash drive through another computer, i ran SAS, with no results on quick or full scan, and malwarebytes wouldn't load.

Some websites, for example:
http://www.colonialfirstate.com.au/ and
http://postbillpay.com.au

do not load in my newly installed IE7.

The error message says:

This program cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.
Retype the address.
Go back to the previous page.
More information

But the same websites load OK in Firefox.

I have fiddled around with the security settings etc., but still no joy.

I did not have such a problem with IE6.

I also use Maxthon Browser from time to time. But since that is based on IE engine, even that will not show some websites.

Can somebody suggest a solution?

The only Firewall that I use is WinPatrol. I clean up Malware once in a while with AdAware SE.

Answer:Websites Will Not Load in IE, But Will Load in Firefox

Hello, This is not an answer to your question, I just wanted to say that 'WinPatrol' is not a firewall.

Hi. This problem has been plaguing me for a month or so, but as I have another computer, it has not been debilitating.

Basically, the main problem is that I can't load some programs or if loaded, the programs don't run properly.

1. Windows Live Messenger - At first, the problem was that although I could open the Messenger window and log in properly, after a few seconds of logging in, the program would just shut down completely. Now the problem is that when attempting to log in, a window pops up stating that my messenger program is out-of-date and that to continue, I would have to download an update (which it does for me). After the update has downloaded, the Windows Live "Welcome" window pops up, and the program shuts down. I've tried downloading the messenger from the official site, but once I open the installation file, the "Welcome" window pops up, and the program shuts down.

2. Kaspersky Anti-Virus - I installed this with few problems. However, when I started the program, the regular Kaspersky start screen showed, and then the program shut down. Now, the program doesn't even attempt to open (i.e., no start screen, just a shutdown of the program).

3. Web sites - Some websites don't work properly, like live streaming web sites (e.g., MyP2P.eu). All sites load, but the footage often just doesn't show.

4. Other programs that don't work properly - TVAnts and a few other ones that I don't remember.

Please help. I... Read more

Hi guys, tryin to help my bro with a fubared system. He has xp home w/ sp 2. Here is what happened: He downloaded Panda AV, for some reason the install screwed up because now windows only partially loads. Not even a bottom task bar and start menu.

Panda says some part of the engine was unable to install. Going to add/remove does not help , when tryin to remove panda, it says cant remove because same thing, something to do w/ the panda engine. Same thing when trying to go to system restore...it just says you have to restart windows to use system restore, i guess because part of windows is not fully loading?

the user IF wasnt even loading at first, but i got it back.

Any programs he tries to open wont open (like burning software to back up some files) they say not enough system memory, ( again, maybe because its not fully loading?), when check asus probe he had over 500 MB of usuable memory.and ive made sure the sticks of ram are good.

I tried safe mode , then system restore from cmd prompt, still says same thing...to restart , which of course, i have done many times.

I then booted from his xp install disc , went to repair windows, it did the usual coping of files, then when it got to the actuall install of windows after 2 min of install w/ 39 min left, we got a fatal error (ugg),

"Set up failed to install product catalogs. This is a Fatal Errror.

wth? Any ideas or help would be appreciated, im wondering if i sho... Read more

I have a computer that has Vista OS 64 bit and at first, it would get to the start screen and go black, well my nephew stupidly would shut it down by unplugging it, trying to reboot it or something. My question is if I buy him a new hard drive, how do I get data on it, or can I just format it and install the new os? I cant see anything is the problem. Can I clone that HD or mine from a windows 7 of the same size and then send it back to a new one? I still have the problem where there was a black screen and now it is basically a dead computer. I just figured there was a way to fix it

I recently uninstalled and wiped all my firefox settings after installing a addon call ghostborwser (or something similar) it has a icon of Casper the Friendly ghost to represent it. It Removed all my colour and images form ALL websites visited it was suposed to be (I assumed anyways) like a 'bosskey to hide the browser/make it invisible, after the colour faded from my world I uninstalled the Addon and restarted firefox and the colour and images were still gone so I uninstalled firefox and erased all of my settings out of the Docs setting folder (Exept for backing up my bookmarks)and used ccleaner to purge the rgistery of firefox enteies to start fresh.

I then reinstlled firefox 2.0.0.14 and tried loading it I got the

"firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Message restarted and got the same I rebooted and still the same message
I uninstalled and reinstalled it several times still and still get:

firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Any ideas?

ok this is gonna be a bit long but i want the details there. the issue pc is my old pc. it has windows 7 its an asus msn-la motherboard i cloned this drive and used it in my new pc. after a few months my new pc's drive died and i took the old drive from the issue pc(witch was not giving issues at this time) and stuck it into my new pc until my replacement drive came. when i got the replacement drive i cloned the drive again onto the replacement drive and then put the new drive in the new pc had no issues there. put the old drive back into the issue pc (this is when issues started) the pc booted up to the windows desktop loading screen fast but once it got there it sat there for like 5 min before loading into windows. once it loaded into windows it was un usable for around 10 min while it loaded background stuff. once it finally loads into windows if i try to open anything its still responding extremely slow. is there anything i could do to fix this or is this going to me a re install only situation? i did try to use a windows 7 disk to do a startup repair but it claimed i couldn't do it because i dident install from that disk.

Hello guys,
I'm making this thread to share with you this extension, which let you load or save preferences into Mozilla Firefox and Firefox-based browsers.
This extension can be very important when we use mobile devices, because when we use them we can't access to the directory of our Firefox profile.

First off I suddenly got the Antivirus Pro. Went to your forums and tried the removal guide, went to taskbar and tried to end process on antiviruspro.exe and svchast.exe. Then I downloaded Malwarebytes and tried to scan, about 10 seconds into the scan the program shutdown. I also tried to run SDfix and as soon as it started scanning it shut down. I rebooted and started in safe mode with networking, when I did this Windows Antivirus 2010 also appeared on my desktop along with antivirus pro. Next I downloaded the trial of avast and did the scan on startup since I couldn't get any programs to run. During the scan it said it deleted Antispyware 2010 along with about 5 other trojans that I forget what they are and failed to write down. After the scan I rebooted in safemode with networking once again and now my desktop will not load. The only way I can try to open a program is through the taskbar using ctrl alt del. Tried running explorer.exe, tried Old Timer program, tried fix.reg w/notepad and still nothing happens. I don't know what else to try to get my desktop back. Im not even sure if I got rid of either of the viruses, they don't show up in processes in the taskbar but I cant get anything to work. Every program except internet explorer shuts down or wont open altogether. I hope I have explained all of this well enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Yesturday my vista was working great, and on the screen as i went to shut it down said "updating files do not shut down computer 3/3 100%" but it stayed like that for 4 hours, so i turn it off manualy once i turned it back on the next day it asked me for my password i put it in and as it was loading it was vey slow and would take 5-6 minutes for programs to load up.

Also when i go to click on like my internet it dont work, not even my games work, they try to load then freeze. So i did a scan on it and its still having this problem. After i got frustrated i went to shut it down again and it says "logging off" but stays like that for hours, so i have to manualy turn it off. Now with internet issue, it works in safe mode with connection, but not in my normal screen. WHY IS THIS DOING THIS?

I connected a new 3tb, installed windows again, copied data across from old drives. it wouldn't load unless I had at least one fo the old tb drives connected too though.. if either one is connected then its fine, even if its just the drive that never had an installation on it, wtf? I tried tthe rescue option from windows 7 disc, and it detected and SAID it fixed issues, it didnt. I got a different error message though after doing that, bootmgr or something (I forget) missing. I disconeccted the other damn drives completely and did anotehr new installation on 3tb drive, you know where you are left with a windows old folder (I didnt format) still failed, it just hangs indefinitely at loading operaitng system message now, unless I reconnect either of the other drives!

Help please?

So yeah, I've been having this issue for the past couple of days. The site "www.subscene.com" or "www.hotmail.com" wont load on any browser i tried ping and the request times out, 100% packet loss, I've checked with my ISP (frankly they aren't that helpful). i did a fresh Win 7 64 bit install and still not working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi

I am helping a friend to determine what the problem could be on her laptop Satelite A215 -S6816 Windows will not load on start up and it says "press F2 for setup, Press F12 for boot device selection menu" however niether one of those options work no matter what I do.

I have tried them on start up but nothing happens. It just wont enter BIOS mode or the menu. It will say please wait or entering menue but again nothing happens.
What else can I try to get into the menue or to get the system to get windows to load? Could this be a motherboard issue? Hardrive issue?

Thanks in advance.

Answer:Satelite A215 -S6816 Wont enter BIOS mode and Windows wont load

I tried to uninstall chrome thru add/remove but nothing happened at all and when I clicked on it again it said please wait for running program to finish but nothing was there. log files from hijack this

Might be a failing Hard drive. Get to your bios and see if there is any diagnostics there to do a hard drive test. On some motherboards its delete on others its F2. If there is no diagnostics on the bios i would make a USB bootable diagnostics and do that.
I just had the same problems and found out the hard way that it was a hard drive.

Our family computer is randomly having trouble connecting to the internet when loading some web pages or web pages wont load. I occasionally have the same problem with my laptop but never at the same time. Which leads me to believe it is not likely my router. Would that be correct? My wife plays alot of games from Yahoo Games. Could that be a source of some of the problems?

I have some of the tools I believe will be needed to clean the system loaded to my desktop ready to go. I need some direction to be sure I don't go out of order and cause a bigger problem.

Thank you

When I start up my pc, I get a screen that says, "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully, a recent hardware or software change may have caused this, &#8230;.etc."
Then I am offered with a bunch of options to either:

1) Start in Safe Mode
2) Safe Mode with Networking
3) Safe Mode with Command Prompt
4) Start Windows Normally
5) Last Known Good Configuration

None of them work, the safe mode ones, show a bunch of lines of code as per normal when starting up safe mode, then it freezes and stops and eventually goes back to the screen mentioned above. Same for 4 and 5, windows blue loading bar screen comes up, then the screen turns black and nothing. After a few mins my computer restarts again and goes back to the screen mentioned above.

Prior to my computer not being able to restart/load windows. I had some pop up vundu trojans i was trying to remove. Did some research after about 5 hours finally removed it. A couple days after i started receiving "generic host process error" Something to do with explorer.exe program. So i ctrl + alt + del and explorer.exe was taking up 100 cpu usage. At this point i tried to minimize task manager and my computer froze up. I waited about an hour came back and still nothing so i manually turned off my computer and turned back on. And now it will not restart. I have no idea where my windows xp disks are or even if i have them. I found what appears to be the solution to my explorer.exe pr... Read more

Hello there,

It seems like you did not perform a clean installation of Windows and that's why your system is acting up.

Follow the steps below to install a new copy of Windows:

1. To format your hard disk during Windows 7 installation you will need to start or boot your computer using the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive. Insert your Windows 7 disc in your CD/DVD drive. Please note: will need to restart or turn on your system with the disc in the drive.
2. After turning on your system with the CD in the drive go ahead and press any key when prompted during your computer post routine and then follow the instructions presented on screen. If you don’t see this go back to step 1 to setup your BIOS to boot from CD or USB flash drive depending on your installation media.
3. On the Install Windows page simply enter your preferences and click next.

4. Accept the Windows license agreement.

5. On the “Which type of installation do you want” page go ahead and choose the “Custom” option.

6. Select Drive options (advanced) on the “Where do you want to install Windows” page.

7.  Select the partition that you want to change, choose the formatting option you want to perform and then follow the instructions.
When allocating space choosing the default MB size for your drive is typically the best for most users since you want to take full advantage of all your disk... Read more

Does anyone have any advice for the following? I was running a scientific program (Matlab) that caused my computer to hang and required cutting the power. When I restarted I started getting all these problems.

Office 2007 no longer starts (Word was running when my computer hung). When I try to start Word, it starts the Microsoft Installer process. Then the Installer fails and says: "Error 1719: The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance." I confirmed that the Windows Installer service is started under services.msc. Unregistering and reregistering the installer with msiexec.exe /unregister and msiexec.exe /register does not help.

Reinstalling Office 2007 from the original setup file gives the error: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing the action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel." This was for setup.exe, but other .exe files work fine.

Going to Control Panel -> Program and Features and clicking on "Change" for Word gives: "An error has occurred while trying to uninstall Microsoft Office. It may have already been uninstalled." However, this error does not apply just Office, it applies to EVERY program on the computer.

Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player won't load. Firefox and Google Chrome load, but downloading files and th... Read more

Nothing will load on my Compaq Presario 700 notebook. It wont even turn on in safe mode.
When I go to turn it on it sounds like the hard drive attempts to spin. I don't hear the fans, but all the lights come on. The battery is fairly new and everything is plugged in properly.
All this began when I was running Macromedia Dreamweaver MX and it locked up forcing me to shut down.
Any ideas?

here is the deal. installed a new harddrive on a friends computer. installed the OS onthe new HDD and it wouldnt boot. wellllll i went and put back in the old HDD and now it wont boot that one either but what is worse is that the bios wont load either. i reset the bios by taking out the CMOS battery. even switching the jumpers. it reset my bios but it just wont load my bios menu. when i turn the pc on it tells me i need to set time and date in the bios ..no big deal since i just reset it. however, when i hit delete to load the bio..it claims its "loading setup" but it never does. i let it sit for hours and it never loads the bios. its like its frozen. anyone have any suggestions on what i can do? i would be happy if i can just get the old configuration working so he can have a computer

Answer:PC wont boot AND wont load any bios..

What jumpers did you mess with. Was it a bios reset jumper? What is the system specs? It sounds like the Bios is toast.Try to go to the web site of the motherboard manfg, and get a bios and make a BIOS image on floppy and reflash the BIOS. There should be instructions on how to do this.
