Solved: Outlook Hotmail Connector unable to connect to Hotmail

Question: Solved: Outlook Hotmail Connector unable to connect to Hotmail

I am running Windows XP Professional 2002 and Microsoft Office 2003 (Outlook 2003)

I was using the older version of Outlook Connector to access my Hotmail account, but recently it said that I needed to upgrade it. The automatic upgrade did not work properly, so I manually removed/un-installed the old Outlook Connector, removed the hotmail account within Outlook, and I also removed a bunch of hotmail.ost files hanging around that seemed to have no data in them (in C:\Documents and Settings\Default\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook) - I believe they were formed when I was going through all the problems with the supposedly automatic upgrade).

Then I manually downloaded and installed the newest version 14.1 for 32-bit and through the Outlook connector interface within Outlook, re-added the Hotmail account. But now when I try to click on any Hotmail folder, the following error message appears:
"Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook could not access the specified folder location."

So I feel like I am back at square one and not sure how to get the Connector to start connecting. Thanks for any advice.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Solved: Outlook Hotmail Connector unable to connect to Hotmail

Amazingly, I finally found the answer in another forum, of course only after I went to the trouble of making my earlier posting.

SETTING THE HOTMAIL ACCOUNT AS THE DEFAULT EMAIL ACCOUNT solves the accessing problem. I hope this can help some other poor souls out there!

I know some people have multiple hotmail accounts that they want to sync up with Outlook, and have no idea what to do in that case, but if you only have one account, this seems to work.

I removed Outlook Hotmail Connector because I considered it bloatware. I don't use Hotmail. I use a hybrid system involving Outlook for my computer and Gmail for my Andriod phone and that is working fine.

After removing Connector, I kept getting a message from Outlook about installing the "upgrade" Hotmail Connector. As I was having the red x problem with graphic images not appearing in my Outlook emails, in despair I allowed it to load. The real fix came through as SP2 after I repaired Windows Update and got it working again.

So, is it bloatware? Is there a downside to removing it? Is it benign enough to just leave it alone? What would you do?

Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

Answer:Do I really need Outlook Hotmail Connector when I don't use Hotmail?

Hi there ... I think you have answered your own question .. I would tend to leave it alone it is not doing any harm

I am running Outlook 2003 on Windows XP Prof. I installed Outlook Connector 12.1 and added my hotmail and MSN accounts. Both showed up in my mail folders list and both connected to the web and downloaded just fine.

When I tried to Send/Receive just my hotmail account, it was not listed in the Send/Receive group, so I checked the Email Accounts list. The hotmail account is not listed in my Email Accounts list (tools, Email Accounts, View/change), yet it is showing in the Mail Folders. I can send mail from that account if I hit reply on a received message but not if I try to select that account on a new message. I uninstalled Connector, and removed MSN from the list but I cannot remove hotmail as it’s not on the list of accounts. When I try to close the folder (right click, close [email protected]) I get an error saying to use the Email Accounts list to remove it...but it’s not on the list.

Any idea how to remove an email account that shows up in the Mail Folders but is not listed as an account in the Email Account list? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:Solved: Outlook Connector- remove Hotmail account

I_am_psYon,

Welcome to TSG!

Try this:

In Outlook's Account Settings window, go to the Data Files tab and select your Personal Folders and click Open Folder.

In the window that comes up you should see a file named emailid_hotmail.ost. Close Outlook and delete this file.

Reopen Outlook to see if Hotmail account is gone.

When Microsoft started the new hotmail, I guess they made it so you have to have a special download in order for it to work with Outlook. Before this, I have used Hotmail in conjunction with Outlook with no problems. When I go to the download center to get the required download, you are required to validate your copy of Outlook. I KNOW that my copy is genuine. But it keeps coming back saying "no Microsoft Office products were found on this PC". Thus, I can't get the download. I need it to use Outlook. How to I get this download to work?

My OS is win 7 32bit and I'm using office outlook 2007. I've been using yahoo and google accounts through outlook 2007 without any problems. Answer:Outlook Connector for Hotmail

Does you mail account settings on the web allow for you to choose what type of email server you want ie: IMAP or POP and do the setting correspond to what is in the connector program and outlook? There should also be some type of instructions I would think on the hotmail account on how to set it up or on the connector program.

Hmm I'm looking at hotmail right now and it doesn't seem to have any of the above and it's only POP.

I am using Outlook 2003 with the Microsoft Office Suite. Anyways, I downloaded the Hotmail/MSN "Connector" so it would receive my Hotmail emails, but, when I look in my inbox on the internet from hotmail.com, many emails are listed there that are not in my Outlook inbox... It can take a long time before these actually get downloaded. Anyone heard of this? Thanks, Jesse Zylstra

Well I got the message to upgrade to the new outlook connector for Outlook 2010
So I clicked install. Outlook never re-started and when I tried to open the program, it crashed and gave me a messaged that some mso *.dll was not installed and outlook would not load, I re-started and the same problem. I did sys restore and now outlook works again but is asking me to do the upgrade to get my Hot mail.
I checked my e-mail on the web and also got a message there, to choose weather or not to let my PC program (ie. Outlook 2010 to control Hot mail account.
Also my cloud does not look the same in my system tray looks like to white clouds instead of the blue.

I down loaded the 2010 32bit new outlook connector but have not installed it yet. I am thinking I may have to un-install the old hot mail outlook connector before I install the new one. Not sure though.
Any thoughts tech guy??

I'm trying to help someone at a remote location about 100 miles from here, by phone. He has MSOffice 2010 installed from an off-the-shelf retail CD on a fresh, clean setup of Windows 7 and wants to use Hotmail with his Outlook 2010. He says he's getting the following message:

"Microsoft Outlook Hotmail connector 64-bit Setup Wizard ended prematurely"

He says there are no code numbers or any other details that help identify a cause or solution.

Everything I've found deal with a Click-to-Run version downloaded from the MS web site and suggests to uninstall that and an MSI-based version to replace it; but, this is an off-the-shelf retail CD.

After several months of beta testing, Microsoft Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 has officially been released as a replacement for Outlook Connector 12. Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 is compatible with Outlook 2003, 2007, and 2010.
Why use the Outlook Hotmail Connector?

If you have been using Outlook Connector 12.1, you already know that it enables you to manage your Windows Live Hotmail e-mail messages, calendar, and contacts from within Outlook.

Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 introduces several improvements. For example, you might notice after upgrading that the connection to Hotmail is more reliable than before, and issues such as blank messages being synchronized to Outlook have been fixed.
Even better with Outlook 2010

With Outlook Hotmail Connector 14.0 and Outlook 2010, you see these additional benefits:Junk filter settings. Your safe sender, blocked sender, and safe recipient lists are synchronized between Outlook and Hotmail.
Integrated Send/Receive. Send/receive works just as it does for your other Outlook accounts.
Integrated connection status. The Hotmail account status appears in the Outlook status bar.
Rule support for secondary accounts. Rules can be applied to the Hotmail account in Outlook, even if that is not your Outlook primary account.
Synchronize your drafts. The Outlook Drafts folder synchronizes with the Hotmail Drafts folder.

How do MS Office Outlook Hotmail Connector updates (and notifications) work?

When i opened Outlook 2010 on my primary PC a day or two ago a message popped up saying i needed a new version.
I accepted and updated the version - no problems.
From what i found a new version was recently released.

Today I started Outlook 2010 on my Test/Backup PC to update this, and I don't get the "New Version popup".

It seems the Hotmail connector does not get updated with "normal" Windows updates.
I do have MS updates set to notify me of updates, but i choose when to download and install.
All options are checked for recommended, optional, etc.

It looks like Outlook may or may not notify about an update needed.
Secunia PSI (v2) doesn't list the Hotmail connector, so no help there.

I'm guessing i can download the latest version and install it.
I'd really like a reliable way to know when a new version is available and get a notification.

Here's the info for my latest version...
Thanks,
David

Answer:MS Office Outlook Hotmail Connector updates

I found an MS post and the new version available popup in Outlook is the way this update is handled.

On my Test box i don't have an automatic send/receive.
A send/receive is needed to get the New Version message.
I did a manual send/receive and got the New Version message.

I have been using BT for my emails for years now and never had problems using their yahoo.co.uk for web-mail and outlook 2007 on my computer. Following BT not using yahoo anymore and now just using BT Mail I installed the Hotmail Outlook Connector, so I can use outlook.com as web-email. I created a Mapi account in Outlook and copied all my contacts into it. I also created some additional send/receive e-mail addresses in outlook.com, they are BT sub accounts. They are showing up in both outlook.com and outlook 2007.
The problem I have that outlook.com and outlook 2007 will not send emails.
They either are stuck in the outbox or they come back with the following messages. The first one tells me "not to resend" as the mail is delayed.

Answer:Outlook 2007 not sending mail after installing the Hotmail Outlook Connector

If you have installed Outlook connector then you are not using outlook.com via webmail but are using Outlook 2007 for it. Webmail is through your browser. You should not be having any problems sending via the browser. You can also log into BT using the browser and send.
But coming back to your original problem I'm not sure why you set up a MAPI account or how you did it and the problem may well lie there. Suggest that you delete the hotmail/outlook account in Outlook and start again. You can back up the received emails first. The Outlook.com account should be an Exchange Activesync type.

I have the outlook Hotmail connector installed on my work machine (On outlook 2010), and I also have outlook 2016 (which connects to outlook.com natively) on my home machine.

Both have stopped playing nice with outlook.com in different ways::

outlook 2010 simply wont connect with outlook.com at all -
Outlook 2016 shows my email and calendar from outlook.com but will no longer show my wife's shared calendar.

Both of these installations were working perfectly with no issues prior to the recent outlook.com upgrade.
Has anyone else experiences issues like this?

Hotmail Connector is no longer supported and will only work with the old Outlook.com. After your Outlook.com account has been migrated to the new Office 365 backend, you'll need to re-configure your account and not use Hotmail Connector anymore.

I am using

Vista Ultimate - All Updates

Outlook 2007 - All Updates

and Outlook Connector - Current Download

and a Hotmail Plus email account

In the past I had no problems accessing my multiple hotmail email account in Outlook, with the help of Outlook Connector.

Now I am having lots os Issues, the biggest one is that there are Constant Errors trying to Sync my Hotmail account with Outlook.

When I use Outlook Connector, the Calender willnot sync. Also, once I have made changes to the inbox, ie deleted emails, sometimes they reapear next time I open Outlook.

I called Microsoft last night and they told me I don't need to use Outlook Connector to get my emails, just set up email as http and enter all the settings.

This seems to work ok, but when I send messages, they don't stay in my hotmail sent folder, but go right to my personal folder sent folder. I can live with this. Also the Live Calender is not visible, also not a problem, I don't use it. I use the Outlook Calender.

Problem is, that Outlook tries to install Outlook Connector the next time I open Outlook.

Also, without Outlook Connector, it will not download all the emails in the inbox automatically, unless I click on each one.

Hi Guys, I am having a problem with Hotmail connector. First the data: Windows 7 64bit - Office 2010 32bit, both are up to date, including last social connector update. Linkedin connector works flawlessly but when in the people pane I try to connect to my main hotmail account (the one I use for chat) I get the following error:
"Invalid user name or password"
I guess user name is my hotmail e-mail address and password must be the same as the hotmail password. @least for the linkedin connector it is that way.
I have 12 mail accounts in my outook setup, incluiding 2 hotmail accounts. I am using pop to download all accounts, including the hotmails.

Please any Ideas ????????

Answer:Outlook 2010 Hotmail Social Connector: Invalid user name or password

If you have two hotmail accounts it would seem that the outlook hotmail connector is linked to just one of the hotmail accounts you have set up on outlook. Might be wrong about this but seems logical. I use the connector to get my hotmail to outlook with pop3. However I only have "one" hotmail account associated with outlook. Maybe you could delete one of the hotmail accounts from your outlook and see what happens.

For the past week, since 8/18/2004, E-mail that I send to Yahoo and Hotmail via Outlook Express 6, is being delayed. It is only certain addresses. It is taking up to 2 days and occassionally there is a mail failure. Hotmail sends me messages that the mail is being delayed and not to resend, but the recipient never receives it. My E-mail address is not blocked. When I send via internet, all is well. I have no other problems sending or recieivng to others.

Any thoughts?

Hi everyone

I tried to use Outlook 2002 to access my hotmail. I used the POP3 settings, got it to work, and hit send/receive. Now none of my emails from my Inbox are in my hotmail account when I use my web login. Why did it do this and how do I reverse it? I tried to find some answers on the Microsoft site but they give pretty generic answers there. The answers I've got here in the past were much better.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

Answer:Hotmail + Outlook 2002 = no emails at Hotmail site

Try going to Tools > Email Accounts > View or change existing accounts > Select your account and click Change > Click More Settings > Advanced tab. From here there should be a check box that allows you to set whether you want your emails to be left on the server.

Hi TechSupport!

Me and 2 other colleagues are experiencing a problem with our internet for over a week now, I hope you can help us!

For some reason we are unable to connect to websites like Facebook, Hotmail and a few others websites. When we try to connect we do see the login screen, but after that the site keeps loading and loading for several minutes and then the screen turns blank or says "the connection was reinitialized".

The funny thing is all 3 of us use Windows XP Professional SP3, but other colleagues with Windows 7 Professional don't have this problem at all.

Technical Data:
- HP Pro 3010 Small Form Factor PC Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5400 @ 2.7GHz
- Windows XP Professional SP3
- Java 7 Update 17
- Adobe Flash Player 11, Version: 11.6.602.171
- Mozilla Firefox 19.0
- Internet Explorer 8, Version:8.0.6001.18702 (Cipher Strength: 128-bit)
- Networkconnection: via Static IP

I've googled and tried a lot, and came to the following result:
- Only Windows XP computers have this problem, Windows 7 do not get this error, and all computers are connected on the same network.
- This problem occurs regardless of browser (tried with IE, Firefox, Chrome)
- This problem still occurs after deleting All History, All Cookies, after changing/turning off proxy.

Hi,

Recently, a family member told me of a problem connecting to windows live "hotmail" in IE. I have since remotely connected to her computer to try to fix the problem(am writing this with use of it). Malwarebytes/Eset online/Sophos have come up clean(with exception of some PUPS in the first MBAM scan). Her long used Webroot has logs(back to 2012) of some of the PUPs MBAM found in said scan(maybe just quarantined stuff?) I have had to use FireFox to access both this RA tool, and their hotmail. The hotmail account was compromised(account name/details changed), but has since been restored. I am still unable to connect via IE 9. I uninstalled/reinstalled IE 9, but the issues remain. I can see the issues in the Farbar additions log, but would like to know if there is anything deeper I can't find. Thank you in advance.

Using Windows Live Outlook Connector we can connect Windows Live Hotmail account to outlook. With Microsoft Office Outlook Connector, you can use Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 or Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 to access and manage your Microsoft Windows Live Hotmail or Microsoft Office Live Mail accounts, including e-mail messages, contacts and calendars for free!
Outlook Connector enables you to use your Live Hotmail accounts within Outlook:
* Read and send your Office Live Mail/Windows Live Hotmail e-mail messages.
* Manage your contacts in Windows Live Hotmail.
* Use advanced options for blocking junk e-mail messages.
* Manage multiple e-mail accounts in one place.
* Manage, and synchronize multiple calendars, including shared calendars to Windows Live Calendar from Outlook. How to connect using Outlook Connector:
1. Download and install Outlook connector
2. After Installation, start Outlook
3. From the Menu bar, click on ? Outlook Connector ? then select ?Add new Account?
4. Enter your Email ID, password provided Windows Live Account and other details 5. Click OK
6. Restart the Outlook, to take effect

I have always used windows live mail in the past with several email accounts on one screen which now keep being lost and do not sync properly since Microsoft started changing things.
My OS is Windows 7.
Now that Microsoft has changed my outlook account to Outlook EMail I want to use it with a few emails as I used to do with live mail but cant seem to do it.
I can open all my hotmail accounts individually using Outlook Email but want to have them all available on one screen. I can log into any one of my hotmail account with no problems but cant add any more accounts to the one I have logged into. Have tried lots of combinations of pop3, imap etc but always get messages like
"we couldn't connect to the server for your other account". which is that the one I opened or the one I want to add?
"make sure POP or IMAP have access." How do I do that?
"we are unable to reach your email provider" surely they are my provider?
I am also confused with the instructions to add an account as to which email address (aleady done or the one to be added) is being requested in which box.
Totally confused!!

Recently one of my Hotmail accounts must have been hacked, because when I try to enter it, I get a message "It appears somebody else is already logged on". Have two other accounts and they work fine.

Question is, what can I do to enter this unusable account again. Microsoft detected my attempts to get in and sent me a message that they had locked the account and I need to fill out a form to regain entry. Unfortunately, the type of information they want has not been enough, because I do not remember the e-mail addresses of the last 3 or 4 messages I sent out.
I also do not know the titles of those messages which is what MS wants to verify I am the owner of the account.

Any ideas?
I have tried Googling the name of one of the people I sent an e-mail to, but every one of those services I encountered sooner or later wanted money for his e-mail address. Since I do not know the person's home address or phone number, have no way of contacting them to send me an e-mail to an alternate Hotmail account. Same thing with the other dozen or so contacts in that account.

Since this has happened, I wonder how safe the other Hotmail accounts are and how I can make a backup of the e-mail
addresses of all my contacts on them, so that if something like that happens, I am not "Lost in Space".

The Hotmail message "We can't connect to Hotmail right now. Please make sure that you're connected to the internet and try again." seems to appear all the time.

Is this caused by poor internet speed, because I've got that, or is it something with google chrome, the browser I'm using? When I'm using the Hotmail mailbox it seems to work okay, but this message appears, seems like, every time I use it.

It's mainly annoying since I can't understand the cause of why it appears. If I'm not really noticing a problem while accessing Hotmail, why does this message appear so frequently?

I have done all the basics like deleted cookies, virus scans, malware etc all to no avail.

I have even re-imaged my PC to no avail.

I have dismantled my network and just connected to the internet using 1 computer and a USB modem with no effect.

I believe it to be a routing issue external to my own network.

This issue must be effecting other people as well.

I work in IT and believe i have checked all the obvious and the not so obvious, but any help would be warmly recieved

I just used hotmail earlier today on a different computer, and only later this night did I find myself without an inbox after signing in to my hotmail account. After signing in it re-directs me to the page which says:

"You don't have an inbox...yet
Sign up for Windows Live Hotmail and get a free, customizable inbox with lots of storage and great security.

Note: Whether you use Hotmail or not, you can always go to your contact list."

I don't really know what to think of this at all. Its never happened before and I never leave my hotmail account open or have the internet browser I am using on a public computer remember my password.

Is it entirely possible that its not my fault and something is wrong with MSN hotmail temporarily?

Hello Tech Support! You were of great help to me in the past, so here I am again with an email issue.

I am trying to setup Outlook 2007 so that I can send/receive email from my Hotmail account. I tried adding a new account in outlook, manually editing the settings to use HTTP>hotmail, and it kept saying something about verifying my username/password for correctness. Then I heard about the Outlook Connector, which I guess I need for what I want to do, so I installed it, filled in the info, and now when I open outlook it says something about my network connection was interrupted, try again later.

Could you possibly help?

Thanks,

Answer:Solved: Setting up Outlook Express 6 with hotmail

Goto Windows Live Help
Search on configure outlook express
First link will show how to add Hotmail as a pop3 account.

You will only have access to the Inbox, not any other folders.
For full access, you need to upgrade to Windows Live Mail. You'll find a download link on the same page as the pop3 instructions.

I use outlook 2010 and i add my hotmail account as a POP3 , it worked well BUT i faced these issues
1- it didn't organized my folders as i was doing it on the hotmail server, it just added all the mes. in the INBOX
2- when i delete a mes. it still remain on the server, and even when i read it it stay unread on the server

so I changed from POP3 to IMAP (Outlook Connector) and i noticed that It organized my folders the same way as it BUT i faced these issues
1- i didn't found the option of " keep copy of mes. on the server"
2- same as in POP3, what I'm doing by the outlook not effecting the mes. on the hotmail.com server

I like the IMAP that it organized my mail as it is on the server but how to fix the issues that i talked about above ?

Hi everyone, this is kind of weird. LOL In my Hotmail when I reply to the message it takes me to Outlook Express. Problem is my Hotmail is connected directly with the message board in our MSN group. If I reply from OE it will NEVER come thru.

Right now I think OE is set up as a default mail program. I wonder if this is the reason for re-routing.

What should I do to stay in Hotmail?? LOL

Hi people.
Getting really frustrated with MS over their stupid security procedure!

It locked me out, so I HAD to start the "send info to alternative address" thing.
I'm signing into my [email protected] account.
I'm then asked, "did I start procedure to send details to"[email protected]

I click yes, I know the details of this a/c.

Then it says it will send conformation to [email protected]
BRILLIANT! It's an old a/c, unused, and I can't remember the p/w.

Is there any way of emailing them to start all over?

Or can anyone recommend a good email server that might just NOT spy on me or sell my deets?
I'd really rather not though, as I've had the .com address for 16 years, and that's the one I'm known for.

Cheers.

I'm new here. My search yielded a many, many hits (some very old & some not so old), but raised additional issues of "Hotmail" vs "Windows Live Hotmail", etc.

Because of POP3 issues, Outlook Express no longer works on my WinXP computer. That's fine . . . I've adjusted to using Windows Live Hotmail. Whenever I click on a link (not Reply, Forward, etc) in an e-mail (or elsewhere?) to e-mail someone, it always opens Outlook Express. At the moment, I can't remember if this also happens on my Vista laptop, but I don't think so.

Is there a way to get these links to open Windows Live Hotmail?

Other forums provided the following, but haven't solved my problem.

I tried, unsuccessfully, to change the default e-mail program (using Firefox3.6 Help instructions for changing WinXP defaults). Nothing gave Windows Live Hotmail as a choice.

I also tried
• Start
• Properties
• Start Menu Tab
• Customize and make the email link point to Windows Live Mail (or similar wording).
• Changed to "Hotmail" (is that the same as Windows Live Hotmail?)
• Applied, etc
• Restarted computer (Start | Turn Off Computer | Restart)
• Went to Windows Live Hotmail (via Firefox)
• Opened an e-mail that contained a link ([email protected])
• Clicked on link
• Outlook Express STILL opens.

I inadvertently hit the Outlook Express icon on my desktop. All my emails in my Windows Live inbox were then exported into Outlook Express and the emails no longer appear in my Windows Live inbox. Supposedly, I can import the emails back into Windows Live using the File menu in Windows Live. However, I cannot find the Windows Live file menu. Supposedly, I can hit my Alt M key and make the full menu appear in Windows Live. However, hitting the Alt M key on my keyboard has no effect on Windows Live.

To sum up.

How do I make the File menu appear in Windows Live?
Once I get access to the File menu, how do I complete the import process from Outlook Express to Windows Live?

Answer:Can't delete Hotmail or Yahoo mail and can't open Hotmail

Hi
Lots of people have problems with Yahoo and Hotmail accounts. The most common causes seem to be cookie rejection, incorrect firewall settings, and/or an overly aggressive and intrusive firewall like ZoneAlarm that does a lot of things without asking.

Are you able to access the email accounts from a computer at another location? (other house, library, etc.)

Did you recently change any settings in a program or install a new program or a new version of or update for one, especially some security program (firewall, antivirus, etc.)?

Do you have a router?

Is your trash folder overfull?

I can’t access my HOTMAIL accounts- HOTMAIL support?

I learned about Microsoft’s new policy of not allowing you to send email from Hotmail using it’s own products Outlook and Outlook Express unless you are paying an additional fee, when I replied to a (Hotmail) email while using OE. After sending my reply I received an error message that OE could not access the account. It then proceeded to DELETE all my previous email message in outlook express for this account.

A web search then led me discover that this account was one of those now requiring payment of a fee to send mail using Outlook or OE instead of logging on to the website. (They are doing this in stages so some HOTMAIL accounts still allow the free use and access with Outlook/OE.)

I then tried to sign on to my account using another Microsoft product Internet Explorer- initially everything looked unchanged,

1. however after typing in my name and password instead of opening my account

2. I got a new screen of “scrambled letters” designed to prove that a person and not a machine is accessing my account.

3. I type in these scrambled letters and one of two things happens:

a. (Usually) I receive yet another screen of scrambled letters to input

b. (Occasionally) I receive the “sign in screen” again EITHER WAY

4. Whichever screen I receive- whether I input scrambled letters yet again or insert my name and password the process repeats itself and one of two things happens:

Answer:I can't acces my HOTMAIL account- Hotmail Tech Support?

I've never used Outlook or Outlook Express in any form my self, so I can only offer some limited suggestions for sorting this out.

First: have you tried deleting all cookies and accessing the account? If using XP/2k -- it may even be helpful to try creating a new User Profile and logging in under that, this will ensure you have an entirely new web cache, index.dat and cookie folder.

Try accessing the account from another computer and see if you get in that way.

Answer:hotmail -- transferring/copying contacts to new hotmail account from old

Have you tried using the extensive filter and spam blocking on Hotmail?

If you are usiing OE also go to it and export your address as an .csv file then go to this url and import them to your new hotmail account.

http://lw14fd.law14.hotmail.msn.com/cgi-bin/dasp/doaddressesimport.asp

I don't know if their is a provision to import them from your old Hotmail account.

we have a few sales people that work for our company from their houses. so i set them up with e-mail addresses here.
they use outlook to pop3 their e-mail from our exchange server .
this morning one of them had a problem with his DSL connection we called the tech , and the tech had to make him delete and create a new connection to get online. after this , he wasn't able to get any e-mail on outlook, this is the error he gets
" the connection to the server has failed: error 0x800ccc0E"
i had check his accoutn properties , and all the settings are fine.
this is weird.

any idea on what might be causing this problem, nobody else of the employees had any problems with the e-mail.

any suggestions please i appreciate it.

thanks in advance.

Answer:Solved: outlook is unable to pull e-mail (unable to connect to the server)

you said properties were ok but when the new connection was created were the pop3/smtp servers correct?

For the past 5 days I have not been able to connect to hotmail or my MSN account. I have tried 2 different browsers IE and Mozilla, both just timeout and cannot find the page. However I am able to connect through a friends computer though. I've checked Internet security settings also tried disconnecting windows firewall. MSN has been deleted and reloaded twice now, I also have scanned system with AVG anti virus and with Ad-Aware for spyware and found nothing.
I would appreciate any suggestions as this is driving me nuts.

HiThis enquiry is for my neighbour. His internet address is @hotmail.co.uk and he has Vista Home Premium. For some reason today, after accessing his emails and then going off line, when trying later to get into his emails, he gets a failure message and cannot access his mail. Can anyone give advice as to how to correct this problem please?? Normally, to access his Mail Box, he gets Google up then clicks on favourites and then in the drop down list, clicks on emails. He could access all the different links in his favourites list except emails.Don't know whether there is any relevance in the fact that later today, his Internet connection could not be activated, so of course, no chance at all of getting any drop down menu. He has pulled out all the cables etc and put them back together.Hoping someone can help.

Answer:Cannot connect to Hotmail

Has he actually got a working connection to the internet yet after putting all the cables back in?He won't be able to collect any email or view any pages other than the pages saved in his history (these show up when you are working offline)

Running Windows XP 32 bit on Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop. Two weeks ago, problem started whereby I could not connect to Hotmail from my MSN home page either by clicking on the Hotmail link or by manually entering the hotmail address in the search box. When I click on the link to "log in" on the MSN homepage, same error message occurs: Internet Explorer cannot connect....I have tried many, many proposed fixes that I located on the microsoft support page and other places. have tried the diagnostic tool which states the firewall may be blocking "HTTP port 80; HTTPS port 443; FTP port 21 so then I tried to connect with firewall/anti-virus disabled; no luck. I CAN connect to Hotmail via Google Crome browser. any suggestions will be appreciated. thanks

I have problems when I log onto www.hotmail.co.uk the screen has all changed it is just blank with no inbox etc so I have to click on the envelope box on the top right hand corner and this bring up all the information but not the same way it always had done in the past. have I done something wrong or is it possible to logon to the old www.hotmail.co.ukMy email address is [email protected]

Answer:I am unable to log on to www.hotmail.co.uk

Chances are very good you've been spoofed, so they can get your password. Always use secure log on. Save the https://.... address as a book mark and go directly there. You need to nail down whatever malware did this to you, and you need to regain control of your account pronto, because they are going to use the address book to try to con your contacts.

When I first upgraded to Windows 10 I set up my gmail and hotmail accounts in the native Windows 10 email app.

Both were working when I first set it up a long time ago. Quite a while ago now, though, the Hotmail account ceased to work. I tried looking online for the proper smtp server and from what I could tell, it's supposed to be smtp.live.com, though I've tried a few different ones.

Every time I try to load it, it says "We can't connect to smtp.live.com right now. Maybe sure you have a connection, then try again. Error code: 0x80072ee2."

Can someone please help me get this working? I can't find any good information online at the moment.

Hi

I'm connected to the internet and able to access most sites, but not www.hotmail.com or www.easyjet.com. Some more details:

The problem is occuring in both Firefox and IE7
IE7 shows 'Internet Explorer is unable to display this page'
Firefox shows 'Firefox cannot establish a connection with the server for the address login.live.com'
(note: I'm translating these messages from French, so the wording might not be exactly right, but it should be close).

So far I have tried (this list may not be exhaustive):

Switching everything on and off
Restoring default settings in Internet Options (plus some other things in Internet Options - e.g. unticking SSL2 - advised on these boards and others)
Removing and re-installing IE7 and Firefox
Disabling firewall and anti-virus
Removing firewall and anti-virus
Re-installing firewall and anti-virus
Downloaded and ran Spybot Search and Destroy
None of these things have made any difference.
I am fairly certain the issue is with the PC rather than anywhere further up the line as when I attached a laptop using the same ethernt cable and I was able to access Hotmail using that.

I'm now at a complete loss, and would be really grateful for any help.
Thanks in advance

Nick

PC - Hewlett Packard Pavillion
O/S - Windows XP

For some reason lately, she has been having trouble receiving email via her Hot Mail account. She can send it fine, but when I tried to reply she receives nothing, She has not been receiving emails for several days.
I had her d/l install and run ccleaner, don't know if that will help. Any other suggestions for her to try.

Answer:unable to receive hotmail

If she is checking her e-mail via a web browser that narrows down the list of problems. It could either be an issue with hotmail itself which there have been plenty off lately or something to do with with her spam settings. Have her check the spam folder to be sure they are not going there. You can even try turning the spam filter off.

My daughter suddenly cannot access her Hotmail Account although her MSN Messenger is working fine. When trying to access her inbox she is prompted to copy out jumbled characters from a window ? which she does OK. This simply returns her to be asked to sign in again with e-mail address & password. This she does again only to be sent back to the jumbled characters window. Round & round in circles. Why is this happening now and how can she access her hotmail account again. Please help !

So many reasons why this is the case. First of all, have you performed the usual first-base of virus/trojan scans?
