All browsers slow to open and load pages

Question: All browsers slow to open and load pages

The computer I have here at work was working fine until I updated to the latest version of Firefox. It was painfully slow to open but once it was open it did relatively well. I decided I'd rather go back to the old version so I system restored back to before I did the update.. Well I dont know if a setting got changed or what but all browsers (including Chrome) are very slow to open and load most pages. This computer is on a network with 5 others and its the only one with problems. I should note it pings and speedtests just like all the others... its got me completely baffled.

Preferred Solution: All browsers slow to open and load pages

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: All browsers slow to open and load pages

I read that AVG 9 was causing similar problems. I have like 8.5 but uninstalled it anyways. Things are a little better now.. at least Firefox opens which it wouldnt at all before.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have experienced a significant slow-down in my various browsers' ability to load pages over the past few months.

I use IE9 and Firefox18.  Most of the slow-down seems to be with loading ads and other content external to the particular website I am visiting (YouTube embedded video player, etc.).

On some websites, once they load, I experience freezing when scrolling with my mouse wheel -- text that blurs across the screen, etc.  This even happens on the bleepingcomputer.com site.

I'm running a 3 year-old HP desktop, wireless cable Internet connection, and have not had this issue to this extent until recently.  I installed BOINC 6 weeks ago, but the slow browser problem pre-dates that software by at least a month or more.

I've run MBAM scans - nothing found.  Online speed tests - throughput is fine.

Any suggestions on how to proceed in addressing this issue would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all, I have had this problem for about a week now, but it has gradually worsened.
As the title states, my internet is extremely slow, and I cannot load certain content heavy pages such as fileplanet.com, gamershell.com etc.
My laptop (Xp) is wireless, I have tried direct connection to the router to no avail.
My dad's desktop (Xp) is wired, and also has the same problem.
My mum's laptop (Vista) is wireless but works absolutely fine (posting this off of her's)
I am running Zone Alarm, have done multiple scans with AVG, Ad Aware and Spybot with no improvement.
I've tried using open dns, and flushing my dns.
I've cleaned up my temp files and cache.
I should also mention, downloads are completely fine.
It's JUST the browser.
At one point I had two instances of rundll32.exe active at once, but only one seems to be running now.
In safe mode, guess what! Everything is dandy, so it must be program related, and I'm guessing a problem to do with something within Xp.
I saw on one forum someone reporting that there was an unknown process checked in msconfig and some dlls in the system32 directory with a similar name, upon deletion of them all, the problem was resolved, alas I cannot see anything like this.
After searching ALL over the internet and seeing many people with the same problem, I have found no resolution, someone please help me out!
Anything would be much appreciated, I'm losing it over this one.. hope the info is specific enough for ... Read more

Answer:ALL internet browsers are very slow/cannot load some pages. Very specific problem.

Peerguardian seemed to be blocking most of the access to sites such as fileplanet, and Avg Web Shield was massively slowing down my browser speed.
This does solve the problem but leaves me a bit less secure.

Hi,
I am using Windows 7 Home and recently have run into a problem with my browsers, Firefox, IE, and Chrome. I am connected to the internet however the browsers only respond within the first 20 or so minutes of a restart, then become unresponsive. Furthermore Firefox seems to be a victim of a redirect problem with google. I have used mbam but no fix. Spybot has revealed no infections and I'm not sure what to do with my Hijack this log. I also tried to renew my ip address but no fix either.

Other computers can use the internet just fine.

SOS!

Am I helpless?

None of the browsers (IE, Chrome or FF) on my PC will load webpages following the installation of SP3 on Windows XP.

I can ping sites and also my email still works (not webmail).

I have a wireless router and all others PC's using the same router can view webpages so it looks like it is a problem on the PC that is preventing the loading of webpages.

I tried uninstalling the wireless adaptor and reinstalling but that made no difference.

I had a malware problem about a week ago but that was cleaned with the help of the experts on this website. I then proceeded to install SP3 the other day and since then I can't get webpages to load.

Hello..I was originally using Mozilla Firefox until one day it stopped working..which by that i mean that the browser itself would open and load as normal but the spot that says "New tab" or whatever site youre at, would just say "blank page" and stay that way indefinitely..so I installed google Chrome after giving up on Firefox.. until today when it basically did the same thing (out of nowhere, just like last time)..the browser loads but no page will load AT ALL! And same with internet explorer! the only way I am even on and typing this is that IE 64 bit DOES work..but i can't leave it this way and use 64 bit regularly because it simply will not use or download flash, so NO games or movies are possible..which is just not barable to me! I dont know what to do..i've uninstalled and reinstalled, unplugged router and reset it, restored the internet options through control panel..i am out of ideas and i dont know what has even caused this, much less what to do to resolve this! But i just can't deal with the current state of things! ANY HELP is appreciated! thanks!!

Answer:None of my browsers will load pages!

Open Internet Explorer. Click Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan settings > Proxy server > Advanced > delete proxy server settings > click OK > uncheck all boxes > click OK.

In Firefox, click Tools > Options... > General > Advanced > Network > Settings > delete proxy settings > select No proxy > click OK.

If that works,

Please click HERE to download and install HijackThis.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile from the Main Menu.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Hi everyone,

I spent an entire day browsing thru other topics with the same problem and I tried all the solutions that were listed, but to no avail - using win 8.1, certain sites just will not load in any browsers (tried Firefox, Opera, Chrome, IE) on my desktop pc. Usually they get stuck at "connecting to.. (site)" and then time out and once in a while (in about once every 50 timeouts) result an xml parsing error ("unexpected parser state")

Examples of the sites that won't load:
answers.microsoft.com
videos on vimeo.com
any of the podcasts from The YoGPoD
avast.com

Some clues that might help finding the problem:
-It's probably not the router or the ISP since all the other devices (a laptop and a tablet with win8.1 and an android phone) load the same sites without any problems, even if I connect the laptop via the same ethernet cable to the router
-I'm able to load the sites via proxy
-The sites won't load in windows safe mode or firefox safe mode either

A list of things that I tried but didn't work:
-full system scan with multiple antivirus and anti-malware programs, and then disabling all the firewall and antivirus protection
-updating drivers
-changing the MTU size
-ipconfig release, dns flush and winsock reset in the command line
-using Google's public dns (8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4) and opendns
-creating a new windows user account
-restarting the router, updating the firmware, changing the ethernet cable
-disabling IPv6

I'm getting really desperate and an... Read more

I've been searching for a week now and still haven't found a solution to my problem.. I'm beyond frustrated So here's my issue..About a week ago, my internet went down in the area.  I didn't realize it was the whole area at first, I though it was just something wrong with our household internet so I unplugged and plugged our router back in [which has always worked before when we had an issue in the house] but no luck.  My PS3 was telling me it was a DNS error so I went to my router configuration and reset all the settings.  Keep in mind I really don't know too much about all this stuff so I just try things I know how to do and see if it works, hahaSo the next morning, I found out the internet was down in our area.  That afternoon it was working again but I still couldn't connect so my brother unplugged, and plugged the modem back in and voila!  it worked again.Only problem was that half of my browsers would not load pages.  IE worked, and so did Firefox.. but Flock and Opera would not connect.  It was telling me it couldn't connect to remote server.  I tried to install the beta of google chrome, but it said it couldn't connect to the internet to install it.  And I downloaded the Windows version of Safari.. not loading any pagesI've searched google endlessly and done everything that people have said would work, and still nothing.  Last night I updated Firefox, which was working.... Eg : Facebook , yahoo , ms support , etc . I was scanning for any malware or virus but i didn't find any . And i hardly installed software in my computer . Even this forums is not loaded fully . My connection is really bad its oly 512kbps connection but most of the websites load in >10secs but now a days in any browser they are not loading at all. Not loading in the sense they are loaded half or not at all . Otherwise the loading thing is going on and on . It never ends. I checked my connection speed with speeedtest.net and got 524kbps which is my speed . When i download things i get the correct downspeed which i used to get early . But now most of the website are not loaded . I have norton and malwarebytes installed scanned the computer like ten times now . I first taut that dey both wer blocking web traffic and so i shut them down and i didn't find any improvements :'(
Please help me out guys . If you can TV me and check my routers it would be great

Answer:Some pages do not load in any of the browsers

This happened with a Netgear router I set up for a friend. He uses some kind of real estate software that accesses the internet to generate maps and randomly one day it began failing to connect. I spent hours looking at the computer's firewall and checking the program's settings before I realized it was the router. Something got changed with respect to the traffic it allows.

Were you recently changing any router settings such as the firewall? I can't remember what the exact setting was but I can look into it and see what I changed.

Hello everyone, im new here. I have a problem with my new laptop i have recently bought. Dell Inspiron 7537 15inch OS 8.1 (after upgrade from 8.0) 16gb RAM, Samsung SSD SM 841 256gb. Lets go to the point - When i try to load a page, usually i have to refresh that page, because i get an error like "No connection" or sometimes it loads only HTML code. Almost always i cant see any pictures in Facebook, only broken links. Same is happening to the ads(if i am lucky enogh to see anything except html code). I saw many threads regarding that but non of them had helped me. Its happening with all browsers i have: IE, CHROME, MOZZILA. I will upload pictures if needed.
Things i have done:
I installed a malware anrivirus, and performed a cleanup.
I disabled all "Startup" features from Task manager.
I started the laptop in Safe mode with netword - it didnt help.
I updated the WiFi drivers, from intel's website.
I reinstalled the browsers, and cleaned all ( history, cache, cookies, etc ).

Im getting out of ideas and im a bit worried.
I've mentioned the model of the laptop because i saw that many users from Dell and Samsung were claiming about same issue. Kept ignoring prompts to upgrade to 8.1. Finally went ahead and did it and now neither IE or Chrome will load web pages. The programs themselves open but nothing happens. Not even a "can't load page" message. I am connected to the internet and I tried a few apps that seemed to work as normal. I've found this question online and followed a few instructions that didn't work. One worked for a minute but it went back. I'm not super tech savvy so I don't even know what it did, just followed some command prompts. I contacted Samsung support and they had me turn off IE under "turn windows features on or off" and turn it back on. It worked. For about two minutes. Now nothing again. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

HI, Im new to the forums here.

Anyway, I have been having a problem with my internet since yesterday. It will not load certain pages, and random pages - I can google something and then 50% of the links I click on wont load- It will say
"The connection has timed out The server at www.hotmail.com is taking too long to respond.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."

I have tried IE & Firefox- with no luck, also when I do get things to load it is a lot slower than I am used to. I download and I am running MBAM full scan, it has been going for an hour and a half and has not found a single thing yet.

My PC is only about 2months old, if that, and has windows 7 and Norton internet security...

If anyone can possibly help me out or at least tell me where to start I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance! -B.

Last night the web browsers on my computer suddenly stopped loading any pages. Instead they either display "waiting" (firefox) or no connection (IE). Since then I've run Spybot SD, Ad-Aware, and AVG. All programs had the latest updates. I've also reset the winsock and TCP/IP setting. Occasionally when I restart the computer webpages will load, but only for 30 seconds or so. Https pages appear to work fine, as does AIM.

I'm pretty much stuck here and it's frustrating me to no end

I have one XP Pro Dell Optiplex PC that runs fine except that web pages don't always fully load,
or you get the raw data from the page (which looks very different).
Does not always happen...strange.

I suspected the network card was bad, so I put in a wifi card and same thing happemed
I have 5 other PCs on network that are working fine. Auto lan IP set.

The PC is clean of viruses. Use CCleaner often.
I have even tried different graphics cards.

All I can guess is that it's the motherboard.

Have you tried with any other browsers such as Firefox or Chrome?

This may be something localized to Internet Explorer.

You could try resetting IE's settings back to default by going into the Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced Tab -> Reset button towards the bottom

I posted this in the Windows Vista section, but I'm gonna post it here too since I'm having a net problem.. I have a Compaq Presario CQ50-209WM Notebook PC - Windows Vista. I just boight it this January of this year (2009). It's been working completely fine up until a few days ago. My trial of the Norton Antivirus expired so I went to Notron's website to buy the program. I bought it but it took about 2 days to download since I have dialup internet. Once it finally downloaded, it said "a setup file is corrupt. please re-download" so I tried and it KEPT saying that. I finally downloaded the Norton chat thingy and chated to a person at Norton. I ended up having to cancel my Norton order and am going to buy it at Walmart. Well, after I canceled my order, I shutdown my laptop all the way so my little sister could use the phone. After she got off the phone and I restarted my laptop, I noticed my clock on the desktop (the windows sidebar gadget clock) was completely gone. I ended up getting it back by doing that restore thing that's built in the laptop. After I did that, I tried getting online. My laptop dialed-up fine, no problem, but ones it dialed-up and was connected to the internet, no pages in IE or Firefox would load. I restarted my laptop several more times and still the same thing keeps happening. It's been three days now since and it still won't work. It's connected completely fine, but no webpages will load. The internet i... Read more

I have a dell computer, windows xp, use bellsouth internet, and i have mozilla firefox, internet explorer, and google chrome. For some reason, starting two days ago, certain sites, or parts of sites refused to load. These websites are accessible on other computers. One website is veoh.com. If i were to transfer from any other website, say yahoo.com, to veoh.com, when i click to go there the web browser borders change to the site but the main page still stays on yahoo.com, looks like it is continuing to load. Only certain sites are affected, such as veoh, My Ebay on ebay.com. Also my brother's profile on his computer is unable to use the internet at all, with the page stuck on a blank endless load. I use avg and avast antivirus. please help fix this problem, or direct me to a proxy site where veoh can work.

Answer:Problem: Certain pages won't load on my web browsers

welcome to the forum

first of all you shouldnt have more then one antivirus:

Here is a quote from an article:

Quote:

Now, one piece of advice that applies equally to AVs and firewalls. You only need one of each! Having more than one firewall and AV can cause possible conflicts and system instability. Although you may think you have more protection by having more than one of each, it could cause you problems you were not expecting.

So please if you have more than one Antivirus or Firewall choose the one you want to keep and use and uninstall the rest.

do you have this problem in all browsers or just 1e

Error 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out.

I have been getting this error message all day, everytime I try to connect to the internet. Sometimes if I persist I keep hitting refresh I'll get through eg to Majorgeeks it took 2 1/2 hrs tonight. (However then when I typed the message, and sent it, it timed out and the message deleted - I am writing this 2 days later, because I fluked a connection).
I have 3 computers - 2 Windows, 1 MacBook Air, 2 iPads, iPhone- it is the same with everyone. I have changed my wireless router - no difference.
I have talked to my ISP - and the ping report was good, as was the Speed Test.
I have tried on Safari, Google Chrome, Firefox and Yahoo - no difference.
I can connect ok to the browser, but when I type in or click on an address I get this message.
This started last week and I think it has gotten worse (or I have just realised how bad it is because I was trying all day to work out what was wrong).

Please help me...I am getting so depressed and frustrated.

Answer:connected to internet but cannot load pages from browsers

I think I have solved it. After going to MacDonalds and using their free internet I realised the computer was working fine. So back home I rang my ISP for the 4th time and this guy seemed to know what he was doing and didn't give me shit about a possible virus on all the pcs etc. He changed a couple of settings his end, and it seems to be working now. (just wish I could get the last 4 days of my life back).

Hi, My problem is that none of my internet browsers will open any webpages. I have IE, Firefox and Chrome, and none will load any pages. Can anyone help me,
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
this happened two weeks ago. almost 30 percent of images on facebook will not load. some web sites or pages will not load, for example https://www.heroku.com. for this site I'm getting SSL connection error ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR in Chrome. I try http and I get a blank page. I tried opening this site on Firefox, Edge and still the same. The same goes for Facebook. I tried on other browsers and still some images wont load. I do not have a third party antivirus/firewall. tried disabling windows defender ( including firewall) and still the same.
I have two VMs , Win 8 and Ubuntu 14.04. everything is working fine on these two VMs. so I'm quite sure something is wrong with my Win 10 but cannot think of anything. I was thinking it is most probably a firewall issue, so I'm posting in Security section.
anyone has any idea what to do?

Please help, I've gone through every website possible relating to this in some way or another and can't find the problem or solution. I have Windows Vista x64. With AVG Virus Protection 8.5. I use Firefox as a primary browser, but also have IE8. The internet is connected and works fine, I'm using it right now on my laptop which works perfect. The problem is my desktop downstairs. The internet is getting through, as I can download and update Windows still for example. However I cannot update my Virus Protection (AVG), nor can I browse any websites. Once I open up Firefox or IE, automatically I get "Page Load Error". I am extremely frustrated as I cannot understand why this is happening and what caused it. I uninstalled my AVG to see maybe that may have been the problem but it's not, and reinstalled it and now it's even more outdated (Had 8.5, couldn't update to 9.0), and now I have 7.5. Also worthy to note, whenever I try to update it, it says it cannot connect to it server I believe. And it's not AVG as I have it on my laptop and updated it with no problems on the same network. Please help me! I appreciate it so much!!

Answer:Internet is connected, but Browsers won't load pages.

If neither browser is properly working, you might have a spyware infection. I would suggest downloading both www.MalwareBytes.org and ComboFix. You will probably have to do so from the working laptop, then bring them to your other computer on a flash drive or CD. Uninstall AVG for now, then Run the ComboFix utility. When it finishes, install, update and do a full scan with MalwareBytes.

If all looks good and browsing works afterwards, you can either go back to AVG 9 or give Microsoft's new Security Essentials a try which seems to be working pretty well.

Good luck.

I keep getting this message in Firefox.

"The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."

The same thing happens in Internet Explorer with the comparable message.
I've done spyware checks, and have found nothing. I've tried to work with Dell on this, but they have no clue. I am using a router that I share with my roommate. She is having no problems.

Any ideas how to fix this?

I have look around this forum some, but I am extremely tired from staying up all night trying to figure out what is wrong! I have a Dell Inspiron 1440 laptop running windows 7 home premium 64bit. This all started when I click on my google chrome and seen the home page was dosearches.com, so I tried to look up how to remove the search engine and get back my google one, then, the next thing I know everything I tried to search would just repeat in an endless loop.. I cannot download anything from a browser, I have tried MANY DIFFERENT suggestions that I've read, but none work. Idk what to do and I just really need some help.. I don't want to have to buy a new computer. Thanks in advance for anyone attempting to help me.. Any help is appreciated. Btw I am typing this from my mobile phone so replays may be delayed a bit.

Answer:No browsers will load pages, even with strong DSL connection!:(

By the way I did a clean install of window 7 home premium earlier today.. Leads me to believe its a connection problem with browsers.. Internet says connected but it's still not loading them and I assume any other problem would of been wiped away just like my harddrive

When I log into my work's website, I can log in on the main page and navigate it fine. However, there are several pages within my company website that load extremely slowly. I mean, they take over 10 minutes to load. The pages are my company mail inbox, my schedule, and the page where I bid for my schedule. Maybe some other pages. It's always these pages, and they are always slow. All other web pages load fine. My internet speeds run fine on test and in game. Uploads and downloads work fine.

This problem exists on Firefox, IE, and Opera. If I reboot my machine into linux and access the pages in Firefox there, they load fine. On Windows 7 though, they don't.

I've done the usual suspects such as clearing all history, cache, cookies, etc. I've deleted the cookie and cache files. I've uninstalled Firefox and started with a fresh install. I've also deleted all security certificates in Firefox.

My hosts file contains only the following:

Code:
127.0.0.1 localhost
I've disabled my antivirus (NOD32 Anti-virus) and shut down my firewall (Comodo Firewall). I do not have Windows Firewall running.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can fix this problem, or at least troubleshoot it further?

Answer:Specific web pages only load slowly on all browsers

Welcome
If the problem exists only on some browers you may want to reset one that does not work.
Please note that you will lose all of your personal settings and add ons. I have given directions for IE9, others will be similar. Good luck.
Reset Internet Explorer settings in Internet Explorer 9
Before doing anything be sure to have the most up to date version of IE.

I have no idea what this is, I have cleaned my registry from CCleaner, Ran my antivirus, rebooted, I have basically tried everything.

Many pages just keeps on going in an endless loop.

A few examples:

Images from Imgur.com
Images from Tinypic.com
Download page for Microsoft Security Essentials

And a lot of other webpages. This is really starting to piss me off.

All webpages actually has that endless loadloop unless I stop the loading, doesnt matter if the page is done loading, its still there.

Any help to solve this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

For a few months now, a few times a day, I'll be surfing fine but after awhile my browser (Firefox or IE) cannot load any pages, it'll say something like cannot load page. But I notice my downloads are still going (in Firefox or ?Torrent, etc.) and my VoIP still works.

I"m on a WIRED connection and have noticed the problem mostly on this PC, but that's probably because this is used way more than the others. I'm using Windows 7 x64. I've updated to SP1 but this problem has still been happening even before then. I've done alot of searching and I've done the following things to try and fix this but it still happens:
- My Setup: modem to wireless router to ethernet cables to 2 PCs and VoIP. My router is a D-Link DIR-615 B2 set to DHCP with DNS Relay OFF.
- The computer IPv4 is set to auto retrieve IP and DNS.
- Windows Firewall disabled, I use Kaspersky Internet Security 11. I've even tried to close Kaspersky when the problem happens, doesn't help.
- Kaspersky and Malwarebytes found no viruses/malware.
- I originally thought it may be a really hidden virus/malware, so I formatted and did a fresh install of Win 7.
- I've updated my network drivers (all are latest). I originally thought my onboard network adapter was dying, so I put in a spare Belkin F5D5000 v2000 10/100 Network Adapter and turned off the onboard one in the bios, still happens.
- My Rogers cable modem is 10/100, so in my D-Link router I switched the speed from auto to 100. On PC is auto, wasn't ... Read more

Answer:Connected to Internet but CANNOT Load Pages in Browsers

You mentioned downloading with ?Torrent, and this exact samething happens to me on 7, too, even with XP now as well. I think that more ISPs are blocking any ports that use BitTorrent in combination with routers. Although it doesn't say Rogers does, it seems weird that it's happening so much now lately.

I'm with Time Warner, and the only way I've been able to get around this is to use a VPN while I download. Even older versions of ?Torrent act the same now without the VPN.

Hi.  A few days ago I noticed pages were taking longer to load than normal (several seconds rather than 1 or 2 seconds).  Have checked download speed and it seems to be close (13Mbps) to connection speed (15Mbps).  I run CCleaner regularly and have removed everything that Malwarebytes, Spybot and SuperAntiSpyware picked up, but still got the slow page load times.
Any help with identifying the problem would be very much appreciated.  Logs attached as per instructions.

On all browsers my pages will not load most of the time or may start but freeze shortly after. It is also taking forever for the browser itself to load. Chrome seems to be the worst. In my previous post after running a program and reboot I got a floating box "Input Not Supported" box that bounces around the screen like a screensaver and stays on top of everything else. I also noticed I keep hearing clicking noises from the speakers also. Thank you so much for your help.

I run both IE 8 and Firefox on my Dell Dimension system. I'm having problems now with both browsers taking forever to load. This may be a virus or network problem. IE 8 just loaded now after 15 minutes (exactly - I timed it).

Details:
- Once it's loaded once, both browsers load in normal amounts of time.
- I haven't downloaded any new add-ons lately unless one browser or the other installed one in the background.
- The problem just started today after a reboot.
- I've also noticed that my network icon in the taskbar doesn't show up anymore when I first boot but by the time IE opens, it has showed up.
- Using ipconfig, I did determine that I am on the network and connected immediately after boot up (router also shows me connected immediately).
- I've tried running IE from the command line with iexplore.exe -extoff. It didn't make any difference. I don't know if this works with IE 8 though.
- When I click to open either web browser, the process shows up right away in Task Manager and remains.
- I have all the latest updates to both browsers that I know of.
- I've run a complete system scan with McAfee (fully updated as of today.)

Now I've run out of ideas on what to try. I appreciate any help!

Thanks!
Alec

Hi newbie here so go easy on me

My mum has a realtively newly built PC (about 2 weeks old), and has XP Professional installed along with Norton Antivirus 2003.

She is using dial-up internet with an external modem, and although her default homepage (bbc) loads straight away after that browsing becomes progressively slower and slower. Some pages do not load up at all after a while and she is forced to turn off her connection and try again. She cannot access any secure sites at all (for her internet banking and buying things). She has cleared her cache to no avail.

I have been told to see if a firewall is blocking secure ports 443, 84 and/or 8443. I'm not sure how to check that? I'm not even sure she has a firewall installed at all?

Should she try Mozilla Firefox? Should I install Norton?

I've checked her dialup internet provided (lineone/tiscali) and there appears to be no problems?

Noticed 2 instances of msiexec.exe running in Task Manager.
Googled this and found that if genuine it is part of Windows installer
but can also be a virus.
Did a search and found MSIEXEC.EXE-2F8A8CAE.pf
Googled this and found it is probably Malware.
If so can you help me get rid of it please

Ok here it is.

I ve downloaded Avast A/V and said there is a conflict with my ZoneAlerm Firewall.

After that, a message in avast appeared that a .dll was trojan in my system.

I ran Spyware Doctor and removed it.

After that, nothing will make pages to appear and especially Yahoo. It won't open on I.E. (ver. 6), or Firefox (ver. 2)!!

Though my msn, p2p, torrents are working very smoothly; and other 2 pcs on WAN are opening everything fine.

I thought there is a problem with avast, so I got rid of it and rebooted.

Nothing happened.

Oh, note that when I click my browsers to open, nothing is visible on my address bar; not even when I type www.yahoo.com (and Google).

What is happening?
Thank you in advance

Answer:Browsers Wont Open Any Pages

Sounds like the trojan hasn't gone quietly.Post a query in the "Am I Infected" section for help from the experts.

Hi,

Sometime all web browsers crashes (Mozilla, Opera, Internet Explorer, also some p2p programs) and cannot show pages anymore. If I try to close them they won't go from the process list, even if I click "end process". Rebooting the system fixes the problem, but it's still annoying. When the browsers have crashed and/or cannot show pages anymore, still the MSN Messenger or IRC works well.
I'm running Vista Ultimate x64.

Hi there, glad to have these forums around to receive help. So i caught this virus roughly a week ago after installing a japanese game (22nd Feb). I believe that while installing there were some advertisement or add on programs that had a tick on it meaning i agreed to install. However i pressed next too fast without even realising what i had installed. I only found out later that i installed a program called something bulldog cant remember the exact name. I immediately uninstalled it. However the problems start to appear. It first gave sign when i opened my google chrome and my homepage was there but there's this web http://search.filebulldog.com/vmn/3B00CC3C6AC7DF98CE38E951263A0E4A opened in a new tab. I immediately knew something was wrong as i have never been to that web and that the name is related to what i have just uninstalled. It also changed the homepage of my internet explorer to that link although i never use explorer to surf the web. Few days later, the matter got worst as google chrome being my default browser opened automatically by itself and at a rate of 5 pages per second for roughly 5 minutes. It also happens at random times between random intervals of 3-8 hours and just few hours ago it happened thrice in a row. I couldn't do anything about it except to cancel as fast as it opens and all of them were directing to that link. However i did tried to solve this matter myself for 3 days now but the problem persist.(my paid antivirus expired thus i didn't have a... Read more

Here's the setup:

I have a new HP Vista 64-bit desktop that's the control unit for my home network. The Internet access is through DSL, and I'm using a NetGear WPN824 V3 wireless router running wireless-G. The router has a second (old XP) machine plugged into it that I use only for A/V work. I'm also using Symantec Endpoint antivirus which is kept current.

There are two computers in the home that use wireless to connect. One is a 2-year-old XP Compaq desktop which has no connectivity issues or problems - everything works.

The problem is an HP Vista (32-bit) laptop which I got for Christmas. It has performed beautifully until about a month ago when Firefox stopped opening web pages. The computer was connected to the Internet, email and IE worked fine, but Firefox said "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at XXXX." I am not aware that I changed anything before this happened.

One week ago, both browsers stopped opening web pages. Once again, I didn't change anything before this occurred.

I have tried connecting the laptop to the router both via wireless and using a hardwired network cable connection - but the browsers still won't work. That (and the XP machine connecting via wireless and operating properly) seems to eliminate wireless as the problem.

Last weekend, IE started giving me the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". The laptop sends and receives email perfectly, and checking t... Read more

Win 7 machine. Netgear router seems to connect to internet - can connect other laptops and ipod via wireless, but desktop machine will not open any browsers. Just get page not found. Desktop has no wireless card - only has ethernet to modem.

Answer:internet working but browsers cannot open web pages

How are you sure that your connection to the router is working. Have you changed the cable just to check.
Left click on the Network connection icon in the Task Are (bottom right) then click on Open network and sharing centre.
Click on the network name and see if you are connected to the network.
Have you set a working DNS in Internet Protocol ipv4 in the Properties.
Try 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as this is Googles DNS server.

I have been having increasing difficulty with my browsers. At first it was limited to Explorer 6, but now also affects Firefox.

I use Windows XP Pro. When I first open my browser, it seems to browse and open pages quite quickly. But after a short while, pages open slowly, they lag, halfway open, or they just won't open at all (blank white screen and hour glass just hang). If I close Explorer altogether, when I reopen it works okay again for several pages, then goes back to its habit of lagging and not opening.

ALSO, and I believe this problem is related. I cannot play most (but not all) flash files. I can play some or most embedded flash files, but I cannot play any files on YouTube, for instance.

I have done dozens of things to troubleshoot these issues. I have altered Explorer settings, searched for rootkits with many programs (have found some, by the way, and eliminated them (I think). I have posted Hijack This files (am willing to do this once again), and had various diagnoses.

But the problem(s) persist. Browsing is a pain. Some sites will not open at all! And flash will not play, or only sporadically.

I am posting these problems once more in hopes that someone might have a clue as to what to do. I hesitate to reinstall Explorer 6, since the problem is also in Firefox. And I sure don't want to reinstall Windows--though it is looking like this might have to happen.

I use a Netgear wireless router (WGR614NA). I wonder if a setting on this might have somethi... Read more

I've been having problems lately with my internet browsers. At first it was just Internet Explorer, but now Netscape and Mozilla are having the same symptoms. Basically, when first accessing a web page, the browser takes a long time to load it up. Once it's loaded, it seems to run a little better, but my speeds are definitely not what they used to be.

I checked with my ISP, as well as some independent sites, and my DSL speed is what it's always been, apparently. Uploading & downloading are as fast as ever. The only problems I have are when browsing.

Here is what I've done so far:
Updated and ran Adaware SE, SpyBot SD, SpywareBlaster, Spyware Guard, MS AntiSpyware. Found a lot of nasties, and cleaned them all out.

Ran a number of virus scans, McAfee, AVG, online virus scans like Symantec, Panda, etc. Found nothing.

Cleaned out my Temporary Internet files and cache.

Ran a Hijack This log, and had someone look at it and help me clean out 4 items.

I'm really frustrated, and all out of ideas. If it's not spyware, or a virus, or my DSL, or my particular browser, what could it be? I suppose I could always format my hard drive, and do a fresh install of Windows, but I want to keep that for a last resort. Any help will be greatly appreciated...

I'm running:
Windows XP SP2
P4, 1.6mhz
768M of RAM
80GB hard drive

I'm copying and pasting this from a post I made on Reddit in hopes that someone can help me:

Here's my system specs.

Last night my computer was working perfectly fine, I was watching youtube videos and having a good time, and then suddenly Chrome just decided that it wasn't going load any tabs. I closed it, tried opening Microsoft Edge. Didn't Work. Tried opening Firefox. Didn't work. One website suggested a rootkit problem so I went into safe mode and ran a full scan for rootkits on MalwareBytes which found nothing. I can open applications and my browsers and everything works just fine when I use Safe Mode With Networking. If I'm not in safe mode and I immediately try to open Chrome when my computer starts up, it will open but then not open any tabs, and then if I close it and try to reopen it, it won't open. The start menu and Cortana also don't work unless I'm in Safe Mode.
Sorry for wall of text and I hope I was specific enough. Thank you!

Hi,

I'm having a really frustrating problem on a computer at work.

It's an older system, running Windows XP 2002 Home Edition, SP2.

It's got 304MB RAM and 1.26Ghz speed according to the system info - and a 40GB HDD with just over 50% free.

Basically - if no existing windows are open, then if I click to open a web browser such as IE8 or Firefox, it takes absolutely ages - over a minute - to open and load a page.

I've tried no add-ons, I've done disk cleaning, registry cleaning, defragmenting, spyware checking ....seemingly everything but it makes no difference.

Other applications such as MS Word open fine without any problems.

Can anyone help to figure out what's causing it, and how to fix it?

Thank you!
Danielle

Hello,

My name is Aman and I'm trying to fix my parents CPU. They have a tendency to download a lot of crap without first checking that the source is legit.

The CPU runs Windows 7 64 bit.

The specific issues are when Chrome or IE are being used. The browsers are always redirected to searchnu/406. I have changed the start page back to google and that works at startup, but when a new window is opened it goes back to ask.com. I have also noticed that pages are regularly not loading fully and it takes 3-4 times hitting the reload button to finally load, sometimes they don't load at all. I am also noticing that the internet connection seems slower than before (they have ATT DSL) and the cpu in general is running a bit slow.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Aman

But I cannot figure out why. I have tried adjusting browser settings, clearing cache, clearing the extensions. My PC is Virus and Trojan free. I know its not my ISP, because when I play league of legends on my PC or any other online game, it loads up VERY FAST and connects to the server quickly, with no lag solid ping. Ive done speed tests on the speed test sites and everything is normal

Also.. Netflix on all my wired and wireless devices runs smooth. All my other devices in the house (Phones, laptops, tablets)  that can load webpages are loading them at blazing speeds when hooked wired and wirelessly to the same router. I built this PC myself and its always been speedy. Something happened out of nowhere.

Heres another odd discovery too... certain web pages are loading improperly now as well.. facebook takes like 10 mins to load, and when it does, its all text and no images. Youtube's formatting is way off as well and loads slow. Every webpage is taking a good amount of time to load up.

Here's another odd thing.. I wanted to test something out.. so I went to a proxy server website to try and load websites through one of their search bars... the weirdest thing.. everything loaded super fast and was formatted properly, yet when I use any of my browsers as normal, its slow as molasses out of no where.

The only thing I could find doing searches (which take forever because google also runs super slow now) is that it may be a DNS problem.

Answer:All browsers (chrome, firefox, etc) loading pages REALLY slow, Im pretty savvy..

I have noticed a less responsive downloading of pages for several weeks.
I don't have the extreme issues you are experiencing.
It just seems browsing takes more time for the page to complete.

I use Charter, who has just finished major upgrades to fiber and now provide a 60 MbS bandwidth. (Tests @ 63 MbS)
Does not matter the time of day or what is running, although I only use firefox.

You seem confident that it is not a computer bug, then you may try a network analyzer that will monitor and display all packet activity and information. Wireshark is free and if you have the time to understand what it displays you may find something.

I'm not a IT pro...yet. Still in training...I'm going to try my own advice to see what I may discover.

I just finished reading your post below the screen shot.

It appears that the CSS for the page isn't taking effect.*

Have you tried disabeling your anti-virus before starting a page download?

Do you use a registry cleaner/scanner? eusing free registry cleaner is FREE.

Try downloading in Safety mode with network ability...While your there do a security scan with another anti-virus program...Kapersky has a free scan and removal tool...that is, they did when I was Norton user...

*Theremay be an issue which is preventing your browser/s  from loading all of the page information.

Hello everyone,

I did not know where to post about this problem I have been having, No matter what webbrowser I use, they are all slow to load and crash! I have tried scanning for viruses, spyware, spamware and malware, but nothing shows up except cookies! I do not know what is causing this problem with all of my webbrowsers!

It first started on Internet Explorer a couple of years ago. So I decided to change to FireFox then that started to slow down and then crash on me also, but not as often as the Internet Explorer. Then I tried Google Chrome. Then that started to slow down and crash, but not as often as the Internet Explorer. It happens everytime I load up or click on a Yahoo.como page or any of the Yahoo sites: Yahoo Fantasy Sports, Yahoo Autos, etc..

At first I thought it was because I had too many tabs or windows open at one time. But that was not the cause. I tried clearing the WEbbrowsers' cauche and clearing browsing history, that only helped for about a halff hour to about a hour! I even tried clearing the computer's cache, being careful of what files got cleared, Same results! I even tried cearing old files, again being careful of what got cleared. Only helped for a little bit. I even doing a web search on this very subject, but found too many differing opinions on what causes this to happen. I tried some of the recommendations, as I listed above, but nothing has worked to prevnt this from happening. The only other things that I can think of ar... Read more

I have long had problems with slow starting up of the PC. I have tried removing virtually all start up programmes, running Scans, defrag etc. The main problem has been when loading the browser. It effects IE and Firefox. The hard disc light flashes away sometimes for half an hour before the browser loads and you can hear it whirring very slowly. Even when the internet browser loads, it initially runs so slowly that it often malfunctions and needs re-starting which leads to further problems as the ' do you want to report the problem to microsoft message is being generated in the background at a snail's pace.

Probably a rather unclear description of the problem , but I am happy to clarify if anyone has an idea as this really drives me mad. I always have to allow at least half an hour before I can expect to get online. I had convinced myself it was IE, so downloaded Firefox. I think, Firefox may be slightly better, but the problem is still there.

Thanks

What is your maintenance program for your system? Please name the programs you use so we can assist you further

I would suggest for starters you download and run CCleaner to clear out you temporary internet files.

Please, if you are not familiar with the software read the review thoroughly and do not use the registry cleaner option of the program.

I've used Firefox on my two PCs (XP) and two laptops (XP and Win7) for years. I've noticed more recently that all of them seem to have problems with loading up web pages compared to how older versions of FF were working.

I've tried using IE and Opera as well and they seem to be slow as well. All computers are running either AVG or Avast antivirus software.

If I try to open something, I can look down in the left side of the lower task bar and it will either say, "waiting for .........." or "transferring from....... " Regardless of which it is, I endure a slow painful page load up.

I've noticed this when traveling with my laptops so I know that its not just a problem with my home's internet and/or router. Some websites are worse than others because of bandwidth (I assume!)

Is it just that the web is being bombarded with so many advertisements, cookies and spyware that browsers are forced to "work harder" resulting in slower web page loading?

I've got little to no patience and I'm very sensitive to how my computers are running. In other words, I notice things like this and even my wife has noticed slower web page loading.

Danny

I forgot to mention that both laptops have recently been reformatted so they are fresh.

Answer:Web browsers slow to load up webpages

It is not ads. Cause you can hide them/disable them. This would be due to the connection and the number of people on it. Simple as that. Do you have WPA2 Security with a strong 16 character password that would take any brute force program at least a couple of days to crack? Or do you have some simple password that can be guessed by just about anyone who knows even a small detail about you?

What is your ISP speed as reported by SpeedTest.Net?

What extenstions do you have running?

What other programs do you have running?

How much RAM is in use? How many CPU Cycles?

Everything comes into effect. Sorry to inform you but no PC will stay as fast as it was the very first day you bought it. PC Hardware wears down. It starts to slow down. It is a fact of the industry. Even on a fresh install you can have more wear and tear on your hard drive causing read times to be longer.

Thanks so much for taking a look at this issue for me - you guys are absolute champions!
I suspect my computer is infected with a rootkit or some really strong malware, concerned there may be keylogger software too. Of course it's only a guess on my part as I'm no expert! But the problem seems to have spread right across my network to all users on my home PC and to two laptops also in the homegroup. Basically my internet pages will often not load at all, even though diagnostics says there's no problem. Sometimes google searches will redirect, and on the occasions it does work it runs very slowly.

I've just run Combofix and NetRegistry Repair on this account so that I could actually access the internet, as I couldn't run it at all earlier. A quick clean with these two programs, followed by restarting my computer, seems to give me normal internet access again for a brief time. I hope this won't affect the DDS log. If it does I can run DDS on another user account that I've not run anything else on.

I've run DDS and this is the log:

Google Chrome has stopped working, I can open it but it just sits there saying "loading" without timing out.

Have uninstalled, re-installed about 3-4 times, same with Google Desktop. It has worked fine since I downloaded it just a few weeks after it was released, until now.

What am I to do?

This is directly due to the fact that you bumped your own topic (MRT members are looking for new topics with 0 replies...if you reply to your topic first, it will appear that you are already receiving help and thus delay receiving actual help). That is why it got lost in the shuffle and never received a reply. If you're still having malware problems, I'll send somebody to your topic to give assistance. There is a high possibility your browser problem is linked to your past (and/or present) malware problem.

Also,I have 512mb of RAM installed in it, yet it is now showing only 368mb of RAM. Can someone help me figure out if the two things are related and what I'm infected with. Earlier today I noticed a AU_.exe process running but haven't seen it at all this evening. I hope someone can help me make since of all this.

So, here's the deal....my PC was down for a little over 2 months and recently got it back up and running. Only problem was that the video card became unseated...one firm push and poof, it was back on. Well, after getting back online and all, of course i had a million updates to do...McAfee, Windows, etc etc... Well, during one of the updates, I now have IE7, no biggie there, except that it is loading slower than frozen snot when i try to go online.
Once online, it is a little more sluggish than it used to be, but not too bad.... tolerable, sort of. I cleaned a lot of junk out of the computer, as recommended in your slow computer forum, yet no avail. I have a high speed connection thru comcast via the motorola SB5101...(which was not the one that I was connecting thru before this computer went on the fritz...). Hate the cable guys.... when he switched my modem, he didn't leave me the disc, so of course, I had a field day trying to find the driver.... amazing how stupid one feels when they find what they are looking for in the spot they knew they should have checked first....lol. Anyways.. that is resolved and the old modem has been removed from the computer...i think.
Any help here would be graciously appreciated.

Thanks,
LA Hilton

Also, How do i change my mail settings in IE7 to import from my comcast addy and not my hotmail/msn?

Answer:Ie7/ Slow To Load Web Pages/pc Was Down For 2 Mos

I suspect the slow speed of IE7 webpage loading is caused by the anti-phishing tool. I've noticed that my IE7 takes about 3 times as long to load up pages as IE6 did and I see that the anti-phishing button is active.

Web Pages Load Slow

I dont know how long I have had the problem with pages loading slow for both of my browsers. It probably has been 6 months. I have tried a number of things and nothing seems to work. What I have done is listed below.

1. Firefox takes at least 1 minute to open at start up.
2. Internet Explorer takes 1 minute to load at startup
3. Pages seem to take 2 minutes or more to load

Computer Info
1. Pentium 4 2.66 GHz, 1,024 Mb memory
Windows XP Home Edition SP
NVIDIA GeForce4 MX4000
Default Browser Firefox: 17.0.1
Other Browser: Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13

What steps have I taken?

1. Changed AVG Free to Charter Security Suite with F-Secure.
Charter Security Suite Online Scan found 4 iexplorer.exe files that AVG Free didnt catch.
2. Ran CCleaner and the registry cleaner in CCleaner.
3. Ran PC Matic at PC Pitsop. It found a lot of things wrong including Registry Errors. I didnt purchase it and run the fixes.
4. Ran a scan with Charter Security Suite. It didnt find any viruses or spyware.
5. I have read a lot of sites about browser is slow, pages loading slow, improving Firefox speed and optimizing Firefox. I did change a few settings in Firefox, but that hasnt changed anything.
6. Disabled Extensions and Plug-ins in Firefox except for Java and Shockwave.
7. I clear history in Firefox a lot more since I have this problem. I also have the history cleared out when Firefox closes. I delete all the browsing history in the Internet Options of Internet E... Read more

I'm posting this here because I'm not sure where to go. Please move me to the appropriate place if somewhere else would be better.

I use Firefox but tried IE and have the same problem.

Last week internet pages started loading slowly and rarely fully load. It will take a minute or more for a simple page like Google to open. Fuller pages like a news site will take upwards of 5 minutes and still not fully load. They continually say waiting, transferring, or looking up in the bottom left corner. The refresh arrow on the URL bar remains an X.

I have run virus scan, McAfee Virus Scan Plus. I have also run Spybot and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware as well. None of them have found anything.

Thinking maybe I have a router/Wi-fi issue I have disconnected Wi-fi and wired into the modem. No better. Have a desktop pc (wired), Android tablet and Nintendo Wii (both Wi-fi) and nothing else is having problems.

There do not seem to be any other signs of problem on laptop. I can run other things - games, office programs and such and everything opens and operates fine.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dawn

Please help - everytime I click to browse, my page loads in very slowly - for example, when I am reading the news and click on a link, the page loads in, but the text takes a long time to appear, I might get the heading the news article and date, but the news part takes a while before it loads. Also, when I scroll down the page, it seems to get ready to kick in the text after I scroll, then I have to go back to the top of the page to start reading.

Can anyone tell me what is causing this. Is my IE 6 browser hijacked. If you need to see a log of my HJT log, you will find in under a post I sent before under Security regarding programs slowing my system down and what do I need to uncheck under msconfig - startup files. If you can't locate, then I'll run HJT again.

Thanking you in advance.

P.S. The previous post I sent - no one responded to my HJT log file.

Answer:Web pages very slow to load...

Hi,

This logs looks pretty clean. Let's try something else.

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan
** click on "Free use ActiveScan" located on the top right hand corner Click Check Now & a 'pop up' window shall appear. *ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it
Enter your e-mail address, country, and state & click Scan Now ...begins downloading 8 MB Panda's ActiveX controls
Begin the scan by selecting My Computer If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report.
Please ignore any entry it finds and wants you to buy the program for removal as we will address this later.
Click on see report. Then click Save report

Hi,
I hope you can help me.
I usually use Firefox but have recently started a new job which uses an online tool which has to be used in IE7.
I need to look at numerous websites and speed is of the essence but it's taking anything up to 30 seconds (occasionally more) for each site to load...not fast enough for my needs. I have Comodo Firewall (updated) and newly installed Avast (also updated). Have done disk clean up, disk defrag, cleared temp files.
Is there any way to speed it up as I may lose my job if I can't work fast enough?
Any help very much appreciated.

Forgot to add, I'm using a Toshiba Equim L40 with Windows Vista

Answer:IE7 very very slow to load pages

A few ideas

My first suggestion would be to disable any and all "Add Ons" to see if they are intercepting your requests.

In IE7, under Tools, "Manage Add Ons" and disable everything. Close and reopen IE, then see if anything improves.

I'd also take a good hard look at your Comodo Firewall. It is probably conflicting with the Windows firewall.

hi guys

my internet explorer works fine with most websites, however, on a few websites it takes a long time to load and loads in a different way to others - it loads the background of the website first, from top to bottom, then loads the main content all at once.

an example of a website that does this is www.startwiththis.com

anyone have any ideas why it does this?

Answer:pages load very slow

Hi,
I tried it with FireFox and it loaded the way you described. I think it's just the way the site was designed. As for why some sites load slower than others it's usually that some send the info faster than others.

I've got a bit of a strange issue. Hopefully someone here can shed some light on it for me. As Ive typed and typed this here, it got a bit long, but hopefully it all makes sense.

I've got 4 computers in my house, all listed in my signature. There is a WHS 2011 machine down in my basement, a desktop PC, a HTPC and a laptop. We also have a WD TV box and our 2 smart phones on the network. Recently we've had some problems / slowness loading IE pages, at first it seemed to be only Google which is our home page. The page would take minutes to load, and we got an error "waiting for Google' in the tab. We first noticed this with Google on our laptop because the laptop gets the most use during the week. But it seems to also happen on other pages.

Because we first experienced this on the laptop, I thought it was a wireless issue . So I unplugged the router & modem and restarted them, which seemed to fix things, but only for a short while and then the same problem started again. The past few days I've been using my desktop PC because of the issue on the laptop, and now the same issue is happening up here. So I'm thinking that it isn't WiFi related and it's more of an issue with my internet/network.

I tried doing a "ipconfig /flushdns" running as an administrator and also resetting the IE settings (tools, internet options, advanced, reset IE settings) thinking it was an IE issue. Again, each of those migh... Read more

Answer:IE pages slow to load

it could be, at least partially, DNS-related issues. When seeing "Waiting on www.url.com" could certainly mean that it's still trying to resolve the hostname to an IP.

So... first thing you could try is changing the DNS servers on one of your machines and see if that makes a different.
You can use Google's.

Question: slow to load pages

It seems like pages have been a little slow to load lately. No other problems. This is probably my old and creaky system just being slow. But today is a slow day so I did everything in Read Me First. I'd appreciate it if someone here could take a look at my logs.

My computer has slowed down in recent days with web pages often taking several minutes to load. I've run virus and malware checks.

I've also run TSG System Info and Hijack This.

Any assistance would be appreciated. (Trust I've followed the correct protocols in reporting this). Thanks.

Built this computer about a month and a half ago. Everything has been running fine up until Firefox started slowing down.

Firefox has been opening web pages very slowly as of late, I have scanned with Malwarebytes and Super anti spyware and only found some adware cookies.

Kind regards and thankyou for reading,

Answer:Web pages very slow to load.

I would like some extra info. Do you notice Internet Explorer (IE) or Crome if it's installed loading slowly as well? I have noticed that sometimes and on certain computers that Firefox (FF) will load slowly. If you don't have problems in IE it may just be FF and nothing actually wrong with your computer. Do you have any other problems or symptoms?

I have a computer that is Windows XP SP2 and IE is slow to load pages and doesn't completely load them all the time. This started when I was having problems with Norton so I removed it and installed AVG. I upgraded from IE 6 to 7 and it didn't help...the only thing that helps is removing AVG. So I installed PC-Cilling...same thing. So when any anti virus is loaded the internet crawls, but once you remove anti virus it flies. Could there be a reminent of Norton causing this? Help!

Answer:IE Slow to Load Pages

Do you have any IE add-ons enabled? Also, have you tried installing anti-virus software and using a different browser to see if you get the same performance problems?

Also, have you tried emptying the browser cache and cookies?

Peace...

Answer:What Causes Pages To Load Slow?

My apps and the rest of my system run perfectly. About a week ago whenever I open a web page it is very slow to load (sometimes not at all). Before this everything was running great (I haven't changed anything since). I am using Firefox (I also tried IE and opera and it still was slow). I ran adaware and spybot and removed all infections. I also ran my registry first aid platinum on the system. I have also tried different DNS servers (I think it may have something to do with this because my internet speed test is always high 7-8 MBs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer:web pages slow to load

frequently scans either don't detect spyware/viruses or can't remove them properly.

I recommend download HiJackThis (google it) and run a scan and post your log here. Also press CTRL ALT DEL and see what your CPU usage and memory usage are when idle. But more importantly post the HiJack log.
Try this:
go to start->run
type CMD
at the prompt, type ping speedguide.net

It will ping that server 4 times, and show you an average round trip time in milliseconds. Do that a couple times for consistenty, and post what you are getting here.
But seeing as the rest of your system runs fine, it may be some settings you may have changed inadvertantly.

Answer:web pages VERY slow or won't load

I don't see anything in the scanlog that should affect this (unless it's the Google Toolbar), however you are posting with an older version that may not show everything.

The latest version is 1.98.2
