I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Thanks for your help - I've tried the usual settings and searched everywhere but can't find an answer to this question. Maybe I need to go into the registry?

Windows Home Premium, SP1.

I use Thunderbird as my default email client. Somehow, the default setting in Vista got changed - now when I right-click on a file and choose Send to-->Email recipient, I get an Outlook 2003 compose window, instead of a Thunderbird compose window. This drives me crazy. The computer behaves correctly (goes to Thunderbird) when I click on a "mailto:" hyperlink, however.

I've tried:
1. changing the settings in the Control Panel-->Default Programs window. There are 3 windows I've tried here with no luck.
a. "Set your default programs": I've checked to ensure that Thunderbird has all its defaults and Windows Mail and Outlook 2003 have none. I've also gone into each of these programs to make sure they're not stealing their defaults back.
b. I've gone into "Set Program Access and Defaults". In the Microsoft Windows section, Windows Mail is indicated as the default client, however there is no option to change it. In the Non-Microsoft section, the options set are "Use my current email program" and "Remove Access: Windows Mail". In this window, I am able to change the broswer, media player and Java settings, but it's not letting me change the email settings.
c. In the Custom window, under the setting Choose my defa... Read more

Did you try setting the default action under 'Control Panel', "Programs", "Default Programs" ... I can't remember exactly the sequence for Vista, but that should be right.

I have had this problem on my computer and my mothers since Dec 27 2004.

RightClicking on a .jpg, SEND TO:, MAIL RECIPIENT: with Hotmail as default Mail Client.
Still opens Send pictures via email window to resize if you want, good. But then regardless if you resize or not it opens an IE window trying to attach to hotmail but gives a HT*P 404. With below as a sample(edited because can not post URLS). The .jpg is then automatically renamed with a ^ afterwards in this case "JJ&Robert.jpg^"

I have disabled Norton Internet Security, uninstalled firefox, gmail notifier, google toolbar, made sure windows firewall and popup blocker is off. Set my computer as DMZ server on My Netgear WGT624 V2. Checked my Send to commands in win.ini and pulled out a lot of hair.
This is the first computer problem I have not been able to fix with a preexisting answer from scanning all the Tech/Help Forums.
So PLEASE help, THANKS in advance for any suggestions.

Hi, I am trying to get Lotus Notes 9 social edition to connect to my Verizon ISP mail servers (pop.verizon.net and smtp.verizon.net).
The replication tab gives an error message: "SSL IO error Remote session no longer responding.Failed with pop server pop.verizon.net".
I did a trace using preferences->Notes ports and it tells me there is no path to the server. I configured my Windows firewall to allow
notes to access the internet. I still can't "see" the mail servers (a Windows command line "ping" times out for either server). I have the correct server names and ports in the "accounts" entries in Lotus Notes (checked several
times). These servers require SSL access. Is there something in the networking part of Windows that I need to set up? An SSL certificate of some kind? Do I need to set up and use a VPN?  What am I missing? Thanks in advance for any help.

Upgraded laptop to XP SP2 and now I cannot send email from my companies 2003 Exchange Web Mail server. I have turned set the web site URL to be open for pop-up blocking and I've even turned off pop-blocking in IE6SP2, but I still cannot send email. I checked MS KB but their tips didn't work (pop-up blocking).

Do I need to install WebMail client (either Premium or Basic) on my laptop? I can still send email from another laptop running W2KPro and it doesn't have WebMail Client installed.

Answer:Cannot send email from web mail server on XP Client

So you use the Outlook Web Access to send email. And you cannot send. Can you receive email? This could be caused by a number of things. Do you have a firewall application installed or is Windows Firewall running? Have you run Windows Update and install latest updates and patches? Try this first, there may be a known issue that has been resolved with an update that was released after or due to an issue with SP2.
Have you cleared your Cookies and Intenet Temp Files? To do so Open Internet Explorer-->Tools-->Internet Options and click Delete Cookies and Delete Files. This will clear all the saved settings for all websites you accessed including cached copies. Also, you may want to delete the history, but before doing so, add frequently accessed sites to Bookmarks or Favorites. Then click Apply and OK and then try.
Also try different IE security settings to see if that helps, with the application of SP2 a lot of new security settings were incorporated into both the OS and IE and some of the default settings were very restrictive.
Try these, and if no success, we can try some other things.

Upgraded my system to XP SP2 from W2K-pro and now I cannot send email from my companies 2003 Exchange Web Mail server. I have set the web site URL to be open for pop-up blocking and I've even turned off pop-blocking in IE6SP2, but I still cannot send email. I can use another laptop that's running W2K-pro and send email all day long on it, just not on the Wxp-SP2 client system. I can receive email and read my emails on the XP machine, just cannot send or reply.

I've checked MS's Knowledge base and played with the pop-up blocker they suggest but that's no help.

Anyone's help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

Hi!

One of our customers has a problem when trying to use this method.

When he right clicks a document (whether it's .pdf, .doc etc etc) and clicks "Send to", and then clicks "Send to mail...", the only thing that happens is that a empty dialog box appears, with the title "Error", and a confirmation box that says "OK".

When he then clicks "OK", nothing happens.

I played around a bit with default programs and associations, and ended up with removing the "Send to mail..." option completely.

I have tried to right click --> send to --> send to mail on my own computer, and it works flawlessly.

The user is running Windows 7 pro on a Dell Latitude E4300.
The default mail program is Lotus Notes v. 8.5, but Outlook is also installed and is associated with all e-mail options except the "mailto:" protocol and the ".mapimail" filetype. These two are associated with Lotus Notes.

The user wants to be able to send documents by using this method, and use it so Lotus Notes is the mail-program used for right click --> Send to --> Send to mail... option.

Is there any ideas around this problem? Please do not hesitate to ask about more info...

Regards...

Answer:Right click --> Send to --> Send to mail recipient

Cant help but subscribing to this thread as i cant send jpegs using this method at work, even though every thing else works ok.

Good luck.

We have Exchange 2007, and I want to be able to have a message sent to our users anytime someone tries to email them with a message that exceeds are message size restrictions. The sender gets a message bounced to them, but the recipient never gets a message and thus they have no idea if someone is trying to email them or not.

I've searched Google and come up blank, also the Exchange help guide is of no help. Anything would be greatly appreciated.

See if this helps. Insert your W98 CD and browse it to here d:\Tools\Oldwin95\Message\US\

Double left click on wms.exe. After it's done restart the PC and see if the send to is available now.

Also, be sure to do this, Start OEX and click on Tools>Options. At the bottom of the dialog box under "DefaultMessagingPrograms". Is "Make Default" greyed out? If not, click on it to set OEX as your default email handler.

I am going to take a stab in the dark here (I am still on beta 7068, so not sure), but is there any mail software installed (outlook, windows mail, etc)? I have a hunch that there needs to some sort of mail app for it to show up. Unless someone knows of a better solution.

Probably best to delete the link and create a new one.You can add destinations to Send To; via the Send To folder in your Windows folder create shortcuts to the destinations you send files to regularly, such as a fax machine, printer or chosen folder.

Just noticed that (right click on file) 'Send to -> Mail recipient' is no longer opening my mail client.

I suspect the problem arose after I installed and then uninstalled Opera. 'Internet Options' / 'Programs' had Opera listed as the email client. Changing this to Outlook Express, or Netscape 7 (my prefered client) does not make any difference.

When I right-click on a file to use Send To | Mail Recipient, a "Windows Messaging new email" window opens instead of an "Outlook Express new email" window.

I had a look in my Windows Explorer|Folder Options|File Types "Mail Message" options and the Open properties for Mail Message has the following for "Application used to perform action":

C:\Progra~1\Window~1\exchng32.exe /f

Can someone please tell me what the command line for opening a new mail message using Outlook Express should be?

How do I change the 'send to- mail recipient' in the context menu so that it opens outlook express and not hotmail ?

It always used to open a new email in outlook express but a couple of weeks ago it somehow changed so that when i right click on a file and select 'send to - mail recipient' internet explorer starts up and tries to log me into MSN/hotmail.

I find this a real pain. I dont know how it has happened.

Is it possible to change it back ? Outlook express is set as the default mail handling program.

Also now, when I click on a file and then the E-mail this file/folder option on the left of the screen, this also opens my hotmail account and not a new e-mail in Outlook Express.

Am I doing something wrong here ?

To set Outlook Express as your default mail client, type the following commands: "%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\MSIMN.EXE" /REG regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Outlook Express\msoe.dll"You also might want to check what is set in IE as email program under extra options

I have found that when Outlook is the default email program and I use the right-click Send To context menu to send a document to a mail recipient that nothing happens. Outlook is not started. And when I try to start Outlook, the shortcut is corrupted also until I restart my computer. However, if I set Windows Live Mail as the default email program, then the Send To Mail Recipient context menu works.

This seems to be another Windows 7 flaw. Has anyone else experienced this, or found a way to fix it?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried it without Windows Live Mail? It may be a conflict between the two mail programs, I would recommend deleting WLM and just using Outlook and see if it still happens.

Hi

The send to mail recipient function (and send as mail in word, excel, adobe etc) has stopped working.

I have VISTA and MS OFFICE 07. I use MS Outlook, I have set outlook as my default mail program and I have also reset my MAPI to see if this would fix the problem but nothing and it is driving me insane!

From windows explorer if I right click and hit "send to mail recipient" it goes through the motions of attaching a file but no outlook window opens. In word I get an undefined error.

I have reinstalled office, I have rebuilt my registry and installed all service pack updates but nothing has worked.

PLEASE HELP!

Running Exchange Client(5.0) on an Exchange Server. While sending file with the "Send to" option, the file name is trunked to DOS format(XXX~1.XXX). If using insert file in Exchange, everything is OK. This only shows when you try to rename file or save it. On screen everything seems OK.

Test done on NT4 (Office 97) and Win95 (Office 95), always same problem.

I use Gmail and would like to use the Send To command (seen with right mouse click on a file in Explorer) as well as the Send command in MS Office 2007 programs. Currently these commands create an Outlook e-mail showing the file or Office document as a attachment. My question is whether there is a way to have them create a Gmail e-mail instead.

Answer:Using Gmail with Send To >Mail Recipient

I believe that 'Send to' uses the default account defined in your default email client. So, if you use Outlook make gmail your default account. If you use a different email client set it to be your default.

I have encountered something like this problem before and finally got fixed, but this one has me stumped and I need some help.

This is a dell optiplex running Windows XP Pro in a business environment. One of the applications is used to generate bookeeping reports, which then can be dealt with in a variety of ways, one of which is to ship them out to a recipient via email. That function did work, but doesn't now, and here is the behaviour:
- When you hit the 'sent-to email recipient' function, it does successfully invoke Outlook Express [which is what the person uses]
- and the little freshly-minted message box pops up.
- but any move you make to put an address in the To: field fails. you get the Windows audible "goof" alert, but the little OE window is essentially a zombie
- you can't close it peacefully... can't close the bookeeping app, can't close the OE window. have to kill them with Task Manager and at least once even that didn't help, the machine would not restart or shutdown. Had to pull power

And disappointingly, windows is not generating an Event for these instances. nothing in the log related to the issue whatsoever.

There are lots of notes laying around the nerdsphere about the entire invocation process failing.... in other words, the application loses its relationship to the default Mail package, as though it had never been setup. but that is not the case here - its picking the right package, but th... Answer:Send to mail recipient stopped working

Not using Xp or Outlook but I imagine it's to do with Internet Explorer and Outlook 2003 not being default. Most probably you've got another browser that is set as default. Have a look at your settings, from memory it's something like, start, then on the right hand side you should have something like default programs. Hope that helps.

Hi,

I click on File on the Firefox Toolbar Menu> Documents open> right click a file> Send To> Mail Recipient. Windows Mail doesn't open.

Windows mail is set as the default program.

I set permissions in Program Files and AppData so I should be able to run Windows Mail without any problem.

I installed WMUtil, but when I ran it as administrator, I was told to "Close Windows Mail to enable. I did so, restarted the WMUtil program, but got the same message. Maybe this might have something to do with the fact I tried several times to send a file from my Documents by right clicking on the file> Send To> Mail Recipient. I don't know. When I open the Task Manager, I see WinMail.exe process is running, but I don't know whether I should end that process.

I am using Windows Home Premium Service Pack 2 and Firefox 3.6.13 Browser. When I open Firefox Tools> Options> Applications the Mail To option is set to Windows Mail.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions that might resolve this problem. I used the search feature to try and find an already submitted question, but there were so many posts that I thought I'd just go ahead and ask.

In an effort to get my Mail Recipient shortcut in the send to menu to open with Outlook 2007, I stupidly changed the default file association from "unknown" to "Outlook." Now, Mail Recipient doesn't show up in the list at all, so I can't send any file to email. Does anyone know what I need to associate the mapimail file type to in order to get this to work again?

Also, I am having trouble adding a shortcut to Outlook in the send to folder, I can create the shortcut and it shows up in the send to menu, but when I select it I get the message "the command line argument is not valid. verify the switch you are using." I don't understand why this doesn't work, because I was able to set this up fine in Windows 2000.

When I right-click Send To -> Email Recipient, Outlook.exe*32 along with FIXMAPI.exe*32 launch (I can see them each as a Process in Task Manager) but no Outlook/email message window comes up, and the processes don't terminate (not by themselves anyway).

If I try it with Outlook running, then there is no problem. Also I get an error (MAPI error message) if I try to Send Email from Word while Outlook is closed. Again, if I try it with Outlook running, then there is no problem. Outlook is otherwise fine.

good old right click on a document, send to Mail Recipient..

how can i get this to work in desktop area of windows 8.1 computer.

I have the email client for live.com working in the tiles area of windows 8.1, but i usually always drop down to desktop to work. after all these years doing it that way its just familiar to me..

i know i can open a web mail interface and attach a file but its so much quicker going the right click way.

i didn't realize how often i am looking at the file and sending to mail that way.

any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Right click on file, send to Mail Recipient

The easiest way is to install Windows Live Mail and set up with your email account(s) then you can right click on the document/picture/music etc... and select sendto.
Here's an example, I selected 3 documents: a text file, an image and a word document then right click->Sendto. Windows live mail will open with these 3 as attachments.

In addition, If you've already have the email opened, you can also drag and drop your documents into the programs as attachments.

Windows XP Pro running on a Dell Optiplex with various business apps; not much personal stuff.

Gang I have seen this problem before and solved it but this time I'm getting stumped.
we have an application [bookeeping] that does reports - you pull the report up on the screen then either archive it or print it or whatever, and one option is to send it via email. That function worked fine until it broke
But it isn't just dormant... the behaviour is that it does invoked Outlook Express, the window pops up but then it freezes - that is goes non-responsive. At that point everybody stops.... you cannot input anything in the To: field, and when you look at the apps in Task manager they are 'not-responding'. in some cases the machine [winxp pro on a dell opti] will have a hard hang where it will not respond to a restart command or anything else. Most of the time however we can kill both applications and get coherent again.

How to solve? In checking the windows error log I see nothing being created co-incident with this problem. there are a few other warnings & such, one of which relates to the application in question but has nothing to do with the Send-To function.
The error is just not generating a windows report. so no help there.

I'm baffled.....

Help please, I have changed from OE to Windows live mail due to the Hotmail A/C and since then cannot send a document from Word 2003 to a mail recipient as it is greyed out. I am having to send as an attachment which is no good as it can be edited. It was working correctly prior to this change but don't know if there is a connection to the problem.

Answer:Send to mail recipient greyed out Word 2003

click here is the Microsoft page for this problem in Office 2007 - it might work for you in Word 2003.

Since the latest update in Windows 10 Version 1709 everyone of my computers was having the same problem. I would right click on word docs, excel docs, pdfs, jpgs and nothing would happen with the exception of jpg files. It would ask me what size I would like to send the file as. Once I chose the size, selected attach, nothing would happen.

Solution: I went to Add/remove programs in the control panel and when I got to Microsoft Office, I selected modify (make sure all of your MS office programs/apps are closed), after that I chose repair and then OK, and after a reboot, everything worked like it was supposed to. I had to do this to all of my computers after this latest patch. 12/1/2017

Using Windows Essentials - Windows Live Mail.

So, only when sending an image does this happen, or at least, so far, there might be other file types, but I'm not sending those to email recipients, just generally it's images, documents, and text files.

So somewhere images are ever so special that they require a signing in.

Is there a place that I can poke a sharp object into that stops this?

P.S. I ask because search engines fail when asking this question.

In my sendto folder I have this: "C:\Users\garys\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo\Mail Recipient.MAPIMail". When I bring up the Send To context menu Mail Recipient is missing. If I click on the 'shortcut' itself in my sendto folder it opens up my email client, Thunderbird, with the 'shortcut' as an attachment. So the functionality works but no 'shortcut' on the context menu.

I've tried everything I found regarding this issue to no avail. I also fired up a VM and that worked fine. Even copied over my sendtos from my VM to my production machine with no luck.

How can I make Mail Recipient appear on the Send To context menu short of a refresh?

Answer:Mail Recipient does not show up in Send To context menu.

This is worth a try. I don't use Thunderbird, so wherever you see 'Windows Live Mail' in the screencaps, select 'Thunderbird' instead on your system.

Control Panel->Programs->Default Programs->Set your default programs.
Now click on Thunderbird in the left pane, then click Choose defaults for this program on the right.

Next check that all associations, including the Mail To protocol and MAPI Send Mail are ticked. If they aren't, tick them and save.

Hope this works for you!

Hello, I am having trouble sending to mail recipient as attachment in Excel 2002. I get two error messages. They are: Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client. I try to send again and I get this: General mail failure. Quit Microsoft Excel, restart the mail system, and try again.

Send to mail recipient works as it should, the send as attachment does not.

I made sure Outlook is the default mail client in Outlook and IE. I tried rebooting and the same errors occur. I have tried multiple excel files to no avail. The same thing happens in WORD.

Short term solution is saving the file to the hard drive and then opening Outlook and attaching the file that way.

The OS is XP and the office suite is XP/2002. Let me know if you need anything else.

Thank you - Scott

Have you run Detect and Repair from Outlook's Help menu?
If that doesn't work, try running Repair on the whole Office suite from the control panel.

Until recently I was able to right click on a .jpg, choose "Send to Mail Recipient" and was offered a dialogue box to resize the picture before sending. This no longer appears, and I go straight to the email which contains the full size image. There is another posting on this forum with a similar problem which suggested the solution is to download the XP Resize powertoy, which I did, but this has not cured the problem (The powertoy option appears on the right click menu, but no resized image is made).I think this may be a corrupt Registry entry. Anyone know how to mend it? (running XP Pro SP2). Thanks in advance.

It happens to me of late too. I think it is Microsoft's contribution to stopping spam, ham, email, and communications in general. I hope they don't get it into their head to go into the cellphone business.
Seriously though. If anyone should have any idea why this suddenly happens I would love to know

Hi All,

The ?Send to: Mail recipient? right-click context menu doesn't work

I've checked under Control Panel/Default Programs and the Mail app appears to be the default. If I click a "mailto:" link in a web page in either version of IE10 it brings up the Mail app successfully, but if I right-click on a file and choose ?Send to: Mail recipient? I get this error (see attachment).

Any clues?

Thanks in advance!

I want to send a Word97 document via Groupwise5 (in Word File, send to, recipient) and it won't let me. I keep getting an error "The form required to view this message cannot be displayed. Contact your administrator." I click on OK and then I get: "Word couldn't send mail because of MAPI failure: Unspecified error."

I think we used to be able to do this when we ran Word97 on Windows 95, but since we upgraded to Win 2K we can't seem to get the send to function to work properly. Our tech support people say "As of right now we can't do this on the Win 2000 computers. It has to do with the Mapi spooler. You will just need to attach the document in Groupwise."

Does this sound right to you? Will this problem be resolved once we upgrade to Office 2K?

Answer:Word 97: Send To Email Recipient, Win 2000 w/ Groupwise 5

I may be barking up the wrong tree here, but I think this is to do with Microsoft's latest attempts to protect us all from virus attacks.

In Windows 2000 (and Outlook 2000 with SP2) the approach taken is a 'total clampdown' on attachments which has a number of unwanted side affects. One of these side affects is to disable the ability to Send To another mail recipient from within your applications.

If this is the problem, then upgrading to office 2000 will not solve the problem and I'm not sure what will. I have seen people with fixes for NT when Office 2000 SP2 had been installed, but not for Win 2000.

If nothing else, I hope this provdes some clarification.

Good luck.

I like to send attachments by selecting the actual file then right click on it the select "send to" then "Mail recipient" then it usually opens a compose window and I just have to select the recipient and send it. I can do this on 3 out of 4 of my PCs and I dont know why the 4th one wont do this. I am running XP sp2 and in in IE under tool>programs I have outlook express selected. Although I use the Outlook version of incredimail but this is what I use on one of my other PCs and do not have any issues. On this one PC it will let me go thru the motions of selecting everything but the compose window never opens but if I open Incredimail Outlook and insert the file it will work fine. I want to know if there is anything I am missing to get this to work correctly. It wont send any type of file

Tried searching for a solution with no success, sorry if posted before
When I right click on photo's (or any file) select to send to>mail recipient I get the message "do you want to make pictures smaller etc, select OK get progress bar and when finished nothing happens, I am using outlook 2007, when I change my default mail program to Outlook Express via internet options in IE7, go threw the same procedure I then get an OE email with attachments ready to send, go back and change default to Outlook same problem, nothing. This has only recently started to happen, the pc is a Toshiba Sat Pro running XP PRO and Office 2007, have had the PC since December 2008, I also run Mozilla Firefox and Avast Antivirus, Lap top is also connected to an external USB keyboard and mouse and external monitor, this configuration has been the same since new, it is to much of a drama to use OE and really can't figure why the feature works with OE and not Outlook, or more to the point why it has stopped working in Outlook
Any Idea's

When I right-click on a file in File Explorer .. to send the file as an attachment via email .. nothing happens.

I have a new DELL Latitude D520. WIN XP Prof. came loaded from DELL.

I installed MS-Office 2003 Standard version .. no problems .. activation is fine.

Used PC Relocator to transfer data files from older desktop to this new laptop ... this appeared to work correctly. However, after running PC Relocator .. I noticed MS-Office apps were missing from Programs List.

Then ran MS-Office REPAIR from the APPs Installation CD ... this brought back the apps on the Program List.

MS-Office apps work fine .. including Outlook.

Outlook is set as the default email in IE.

PROBLEM: When I right-click on a file to send via email as an attachment .. nothing appears to work .. nothing happens.

The other options in the Right-Click Send To function menu appear to work fine.

Does anyone know what is causing this problem and how to fix?

Hi:

Friend with a problem: Whenever using Word, Excel or Adobe, and using the option to send the file as attachment, the attachment sends correctly, but any text written into the message does not display, nor does a copy of the email go to the MS Outlook "sent items".

Sorry if this seems vague, but it's all I have. When sending attachments from MS Outlook, every thing is fine. It's just when using the 'send to' option from other programs.

Anyone ever seen this?

Thanks in advance.

Anyone got any ideas on how to get internet explorer 8 right click send to mail recipient option back into the context menu?

Its was there for firefox, ie6..i think ie7...but not in ie8.
Both ie8 and and windows live mail are set to default programs....

Also, for some reason when i click on the mail icon in the internet explorer toolbar, it will open up windows live mail, but it will not create a new message. i just open and sits there.

But i i use the regular windows explorer context send to option, it loads up the new message just fine...

Any and all suggestion are greatly appreciated.

Answer:Internet explorer 8 right click send to mail recipient option

Is your Windows Live Mail set as your default Mail application (within IE 8 options) ? If not, try that! Usually fixes it
This is sometimes treated differently in the Set Programs defaults you find in control panel or the start menu..

My Email client, MSN Premium (not Hotmail) will not open to write an email when clicking on any website's button labeled "send us an email". Instead this action causes several instances (up to 5) of IE6 to invoke and then the Op Sys (WinME) hangs until I use Ctrl-Alt-Del to end the erroneously opened IE tasks. I thought maybe it was that MSN mail was not my default email client so I used the proceedure to make MSN mail my default instead of OE6 but each time I returned to the options to see if it had changed it still says my default client is OE. Interestingly, if I envoke the MSN explorer and go to my MSN email inbox I can send and receive my email perfectly. This machine has been up and running since last October. I do not know if the problem has always existed or started more recently since I don't often click on "send us email" buttons.
I have three other machines similarly set up and none of them exhibit this problem.
WinMe, MSN Premium, and MSN messenger 6 all are up to date and current.
McAfee AV is on and up to date.
CounterSpy and Spybot are up to date and actively running.
Firefox 1.0.2 is my default browser

Hey all,

I have this very weird issue on several machines using Outlook 2007/2010 + Exchange 2003. When in Windows Explorer I right-click a file (say, an xlsx file), choose Send To > Mail Recipient and, in the new email window, click the To button, the contact list opens but freezes for anywhere from several seconds to up to a minute. My machine is quite fast, thus the wait is fairly short, but on slower machines (E5400 + 4GB RAM) the wait can reach a minute in length. Sadly, the issue is quite frequent and I am able to reproduce it quite easily.

I also recorded a video of the issue, take a look: http://www.youtube.com/user/mrtechcast#p/u/0/52HKZpaa3YE

Hello,

Our email is hosted through fatcow. I have it set up to come into Windows Mail. Yesterday fatcow had a server crash, subsequently my email did as well. Today, they report that the problem is fixed but I am still "out".

You can email me and I received it, if I reply it reaches you successfully.

If I compose a new email to you, windows mail successfully sends it, the email is put in my sent items, however you never receive it.

All of the settings are set up correctly according to fatcow support. They are able to send new emails from the webmail account so they believe it to be a problem with windows mail.

Things I've done:

1. I've removed the account from windows mail and started a new one.
2. Rebooted several times
3. Changed incoming and outgoing ports to all possible options
4. Checked ports on server to make sure it's not being blocked
6. Checked smtp file, no errors
7. Tried changing incoming and outgoing pop.domain.com/smtp.domain.com, mail.domain.com/mail.domain.com, pop.fatcow.com/smtp.domain.com

If anyone has experienced this or has any ideas I would greatly appreciate your help as I am ready to stab myself in the eye

Thanks

I must open Outlook 2010 before emails created with the right click menu from an Explorer window are sent.

This was not a problem with Outlook Express. I have changed internet providers to Verizon FiOS from Time Warner Cable.

I have "Send immediately when connected" checked (and I'm always connected),

I've sent the test emails through Account settings (no problems),

I tried setting the log on information in advanced settings (instead of using same info as incoming settings),

as well as turning off the "scan outgoing mails" with ESET.
I noticed "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication " is checked. If I uncheck this, the receive works but the send fails.

I tried Google and the forum search, but I can't find an answer.

I don't know what else to do. Thanks.

Dear Friends,

I have prepared a macro which sends email to recipients whenever a project is due or will be due. For which i have set criteria of +3 i.e. if project is due on 19-Nov-16 then excel will show alert 3 days before 19 nov.
In macro i have put plain text in body due to which there is no identification to whom it has been sent or to whom it has been addressed.

What is required, which i am unable to get it in this forum.

Expected result: i want mail body to be like this whenever macro is run:
Currently i am unable to put code for below example

Dear <Name of the person handling project>
Your Project <Name> is due on < uat due date> and needs attention.
Kindly ignore if already done and update in sheet.
Data to be captured by macro:
Project name you will get in column D i.e. description
Person handling project in column P
uat due date mentioned in column I

Please help.. thanks in advance.

Gaurang M

Answer:Email to recipient with details in Mail Body using macro

Hi,
Please try the attached, see how it works for you in, note that the email will be generated as soon as you open the workbook.

Also note:

1) I am using column N to look for "Send Reminder" in order to generate the emails, this is because you have done the hard work will the formula so don't really need to dynamically change and check the dates with code.

2) If you want the emails to be sent automatically without being displayed, you can change .display with .send

Let us know how this works for you.

I want to add to C:\documents and settings\...\Sendto\ a shortcut + command that will allow me to right click on multiple files & use Send To, (add to the selection) Mail RecipientOE offering me the choice to use Outlook EXPRESS rather than Outlook.

I was able to add Outlook using the tip at
http://www.outlook-tips.net/archives/2006/20060615.htm
Make a shortcut in the Send To folder (C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\SendTo) that uses the following command line: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE10\OUTLOOK.EXE" /c ipm.note

Now I want to do the same for Outlook Express.

Outlook Express 6
Outlook 2003

I do have the "Send to" context menu entry in windows explorer but there's only Bluetooth Device listed (and I even have this turned off, go figure). There is no E-Mail Recipient like it used to in my previous Windows installation.

I've tried the 7/8 Forums recommendations but my "Send to" folders in Default and User already contain the MAPI entry. I even deleted it and re-did it according to the tutorial but to no avail.

Any other ideas? There's a fix it EXE available from some forum that fixes some Reg Entries but it was for Vista and does not work for Win10.

Any ideas?

My Windows Explorer freezes, after I did a "send to" -> mail recipient from the context menu.

After sending the mail I can click one time in the explorer to select another file, but that's it. The taskbar let's me change one time to another applcation and freezes then, too.

I have to open the task manager and stop the explorer ("not responding" is indicated).

Then the explorer recovers and I can continue to work...

( I am running WinXP Prof on a Dell D800)

Any idea on that funny behavior???

At our company we use Lotus Notes for email. There is currently one user who is trying to use the option within MS Office to send the document to someone via email, but when she clicks the option to mail as PDF, she gets the error message "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."

Things we have tried (in no particular order):
- uninstall & reinstall Lotus Notes 8.5.3
- modify the installation of MS Office 2007 Pro
- removed Outlook
- reinstalled Outlook
- using "Default Programs" set Lotus as the default mail client

None of these changed what happens. At this time, the user is saving the file as PDF to the desktop, then attaching it to an email.

System settings: Windows 7 Pro w/ SP1 (64 bit), MS Office 2007 Pro w/ SP3, Lotus Notes 8.5.3

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've had this problem for a long time, where I will right click on a file and try to send to "mail recipient," and what happens is this: if it's an image file, it asks do I want to make the picture smaller. I say fine. Then after the dialog box goes away, the desktop flashes blank for a moment and that's that. For a text file, I right click and get the profile settings; whien I say yeah, that's it, again, the screen flashes and nothing happens after that.

I have checked internet options-programs-mail and Thunderbird is correctly checked. HI cannot send anything to a mail recipient. owever, I use Word Perfect for my main word processing software, and under the "profile settings" is "Word Perfect 8," which I use.

Just fwiw: I also have MS Word 2006 or 2007 on my machine, and I notice that "windows messaging" lists that. Don't know if that has anything to do with anything...

I also have the similar problem that when I go to a web page and try to "send link to email recipient," the same thing happens; that is, nothing.

I really need help with this. Any ideas?

Answer:Cannot right click and send anything to "mail recipient"

First of all, though I've never used that SendTo option, I think it is only for IMAP mail servers. You may not have one.

Secondly, if links don't work, either, then you may not have Thunderbird set as your default mail client.

Hi there - I hope someone may have seen this before...

If I try to send a file via e-mail, by right clicking on it, then choosing 'Send To', then choosing 'Mail Recipient', I am expecting Windows to open a blank e-mail message from the default e-mail client on my computer (Outlook 2002 SP3), but instead it opens a browser page (IE6), and connects me to my Hotmail.

I've been in to the Control Panel, Internet Options page, and looked under the programs tab, and checked to see that Outlook is selected as the program for sending e-mails. I've also click on the button to reset all browser settings, to no avail.

I'm stumped, and the problem is really annoying me because I liked this feature of Windows XP. When I want to send a picture via email, I used to like the feature that Windows can resize the picture for you. Now it just attaches the picture to a Hotmail e-mail, and the result is that it's full size.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Thanks - Olly

Would anyone have any idea why this is happening on my WinXP Pro machine? When I RC a file, then select "Send to...Mail recipient", nothing happens--I don't even get an error.

Outlook 2003 is set as my default email program.

Thanks.

Hello all,

I remember this being a problem in Windows 8.1 and to my surprise, it's still present in Windows 10. When right-clicking a file (e.g. an image) selecting "Send To" and then choosing "Mail recipient" Windows would say that there isn't an e-mail program associated with this option and that I'd have to select one in the Standard Apps settings. However, when I go there and view the Standard apps per protocol, I can clearly see that the "Mail to" protocol is already associated with the Mail app.

How to fix this?

Answer:"Send to Mail Recipient" not associated with Mail app?

Hi have you tried sending what you want via the insert app found at the top of your e-mail app.
So how I do it is put in the e-mail address you want to send it to then fill in subject.
then what I am sending them.
Then use the above mentioned
I use that when I want to send a file or document, or photo, as an attachment.
Works every time for me and believe me I send out over 100 of them a day for my daughters and grand daughters business

My web mail is at Yahoo which has POP and SMTP addresses: "pop.mail.yahoo.com", "smtp.mail.yahoo.com"
I can download incoming mail to my PC, but not send mail from it. These working OK when Yahoo was also an ISP, but no more.
I use Nocharge and Netzero as ISP's to connect to internet. Nocharge has only POP, Netzero has POP and SMTP addresses.
In Exchange, incoming mail server has to be Yahoo's because that is where all mails come in. For the Outgoing mail server name I have tried Yahoo's and Netzero's SMTP addresses (Nocharge doesn't have one).
Without having to sign up with another ISP, what am I not doing wright to send e-mail directly from MS Exchange on my PC?
Your help will be appreciated to no end.

Answer:Cannot send or receive mail with any client

Hi Ddink, welcome to the forum.

First it would be a good idea to enter your system specs in user CP (control Panel).

Then you can tell us how you configured your mail client. I'm sure that you will then get more appropriate help.

I think I saw this same problem but with a different client. When I say different I don't mean different resident client. What I want to do is use G-Mail as a client for "sendto:" It was recommended I download and install G-Mail Notifier and choose G-Mail as the default client. I think I did that but apparently it does not work. I have been using Thunderbird but when I had problems with my ISP account I decided to go to G-Mail and now when I ask for a document to be "sendto" I get a Thunderbird (write) compose window. How can I change that to a G-Mail compose window? G-Mail does not open a compose even if I have G-Mail already running. I understand G-Mail is not a client resident on my machine, that it is only through Google that I can use G-Mail, so how do I get my WinXP Pro to call G-Mail to sendto?

I'm using the Windows 8 Mail client with a Yahoo account however it wont allow me to send more than one picture attachment in a single e mail. If I try to send two or more picture attachments the message goes into Outbox, sits for a while, fails to send then goes into Drafts. The pictures are only about 1mb in size and I can send at least 4 in one email using my Ipad. Is there a setting that I need to change in my Windows 8 mail app or is the limit only one photo per email?

Answer:Mail client wont send picture attachments.

I have just checked with my Yahoo email account using Windows 8 Mail and I can send multiple pictures. Here is how I did it....
Open Mail, click on Yahoo account, Click on + to open a new mail box, add Title, write message, right mouse click on message pane and this will show attachments, hold down CTRL while left clicking on the various pictures that you want to attach. Click on Attach lower right and job done.

This only happens from home pc (I have tried it on my office pc and also a friends pc).

I use Windows XP Pro and Office Outlook 2003 with all the updates.

When I send a email to a certain btopenworld.com address it does reach the recipient.

Any ideas on how to solve this mystery would be very greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Stuart

Answer:Solved: Email does not reach recipient

It may have more to do with the recipient's setup than yours. Possibly something in your mail or your ISP is flagged as spam and being removed. Are the ISP's different among these 3 locations?

Ask the recipient to add your address to their email program's address book to see if you can prevent it from being filtered.

Windows 10, Creators update, Outlook 2016.
I've noticed that when using my HP printer, I can no longer scan to email as an attachment. Once that button is pressed in the HP software, Windows 10 tries to open it's default email program (in this case Outlook 2016) and it cannot and give error: "The HP scan application is unable to open your email application and/or cannot attach the scan to a new email. Please check your email configuration and try again."
It seemed to be fine before the creators update, so I thought it may be that HP software was messed up after the upgrade.
I then tried changing the Windows default mail app to something else and switching it back to try and re-associate the default Outlook 2016 app for email, and that did not work.
Now I am thinking it's actually Windows that is the problem. To test, I opened the Windows Snipping Tool and tried to send to email attachment from that menu and it did not work there either. That function does not involve the HP software at all, and only deals with Windows OS talking to Office 2016 to send the file.

I have Microsoft Small Business Server 2000 running on my server machine. It has an ADSL connection via a router.

The server is connected to a hub, and my client machine is connected to that hub.

I have ISA Firewall Client on my client machine.

I can view the internet from my client machine, but it won't allow me to send or receive emails.

I get messages stating that my POP3 and SMTP accounts cannot be found, but when I set the machine up as a standalone pc, it can send and receive emails, so I know there's not a problem with the ISP.

Can anyone help???

Answer:Unable to send/receive email from my Client machine

Hiya and welcome

Not really a networker, but bumping this up in case others may know.

When you use it as a standalone, are you using the firewall? If not, could it be the firewall rules?
If you are using a firewall on both times, can you post the exact message that you're getting?

Regards

eddie

The Outlook email client on my Windows 10 phone will not send messages. I have confirmed my SMTP settings. I have deleted the accounts and set them up again from scratch. I can receive but not send. Windows sweetly puts the unsent stuff in the drafts folders where they do me no good at all.
When it does that, I get messages about confirming the email addresses and not sending overly large attachments. The addresses are good. There are no attachments in my "This is a test" messages.
I'd be happy to switch to another client but there seem to be none available. I use Thunderbird on my desktop, Amazon's email client on my Kindle Fire, and I used both the Android basic email client and Google's Android mail client (I don't use gmail addresses however) successfully. I don't use hotmail.com, live, com, yahool.com, aol.com, outlook.com addresses either. Yes, I know I'm a dirty SOB for not falling into line, but I've used my fastmail.com account for years for my personal stuff and for my business stuff I host my own through a LeaseWeb account.
I received my Windows phone from my son when he switched to iPhone. I thanked him profusely. Now I'm thinking about going back to the highly cooperative Android world. In the meantime, I'd like to be able to shoot a quick email reply now and then using my Windows phone.

As described two threads below, yesterday I installed WIN10 "november major upgrade". Since then, I am unable to
send mail from *** any mail client *** on the box. Tried Outlook, Tried LIVE mail, Tried couple of programs
that have "send-mail" feature. Every time i used the same settings for outgoing e-mail server.
These setings work as verified by sending mail when using the same settins from different PC (win XP) on the same LAN.
In Outlook and LIVE mail the error reads as "Error 452.4.1.0 Policy violation . Your host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxx has no valid reverse DNS. Pleas contact .... blabla". In the apps that have "send mail" feature the error was native "Connection closed gracefully".
I tried to disable Win10 firewall - no avail. I tried to disable my antivirus - no avail. I really need this to be solved :-(

Answer:After "November major upgrade" I cannot send mail from any mail client

Well, it seems that I am moving forward... I identified the cause. My PC has two Ethernet cards, each connected to different subnet (first 192.168.1.xxx and the second 192.168.192.xxxx). The second subnet is used for my company and internet communication while, the first one is just for reaching the neigbooring company local net. I have fixed IP address on both subnets. In order to avoid internet connection on first subnet, I have set metric 999 on IPV 4 protocol on the corresponding card and neighbooring company forbid my fixed IP address (on the first subnet) in the router. Now the upgrade has, *** god only knows why ***, completely screwed the settings on the first subnet card and has enabled the DHCP feature on the first subnet. So - when I launched the mail client, it used the wrong subnet, thus wrong WAN (that is operated by different ISP), thus it was rejected by the smtp mail server. Question to Microsoft: WHY DID THE UPGRADE CHANGED THE CARD SETTINGS? I disabled the first ethernet card and mail client works. I shall restore the original settings, get rid of doubled listing of the first card in the "active subnets list" (probably caused by me giving the subnet non-default name, and the upgrade assigned the default name to some other piece of data so the same subnet is now listed twice), and all will be as it was before upgrade. I spent 6 hours on this and Microsoft ows me 100 biers.

Hey All,

I am working on a server and recently two of their mail accounts have began not sending out email. When I first looked into the outbound box, the mail I sent out is still pending. It usually takes anywhere from 1 minute to several hours to for it (Argosoft Outbox) to be delivered. Also, when I send out a email to that particular a particular address, it will just sit there.

I have also done scans with AVG 8.0 and found that it had I-Worm/Bagz.D infection. I quickly quarantined that infection as to not allow to infect other files on the pc / server. I have also done a Hijack This Scan, please can someone look at this and tell some about what I am making out.
