Hotmail + Outlook 2002 = no emails at Hotmail site

Question: Hotmail + Outlook 2002 = no emails at Hotmail site

Hi everyone

I tried to use Outlook 2002 to access my hotmail. I used the POP3 settings, got it to work, and hit send/receive. Now none of my emails from my Inbox are in my hotmail account when I use my web login. Why did it do this and how do I reverse it? I tried to find some answers on the Microsoft site but they give pretty generic answers there. The answers I've got here in the past were much better.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Hotmail + Outlook 2002 = no emails at Hotmail site

Try going to Tools > Email Accounts > View or change existing accounts > Select your account and click Change > Click More Settings > Advanced tab. From here there should be a check box that allows you to set whether you want your emails to be left on the server.

How do I get my Hotmail emails over into my new Outlook Hotmail account I inadvertently created my new account without checking properly

Answer:How to get my old Hotmail emails into my new Outlook Hotmail account

Here's how you add your Hotmail account to your Outlook.com account. I don't know if you'll get your messages over or not. They're two separate accounts that can't be merged.

Hi,

I've slipped up - again!

I use oulook 2002 version to access my hotmail account. Initially I downloaded the microsoft connector to accomodate the recent changes to hotmail, and found it was not for my version of outlook. I found the correct instructions from microsoft and adjusted the email account settings as instructed.
However I inadverdently deleted the hotmail folder from outlook today,so now I don't get any hotmail even though the account is working. Does anyone know how I can sort this out?

Thanks for your help.

Regards

Rhinos

I have an Acer laptop and I am running XP Pro with SP2 and Outlook 2002.

I have been trying to configure Outlook 2002 to be able to access my 2 hotmail accounts. I can get one to work, but then when i try to add the second, outlook says it cannot find the hotmail server. I know this is not the case because it can still send and recieve my other hotmail account, so there's not a problem with it connecting to the server. What's going on? Can i have multiple hotmail accounts in outlook? If not, what's another good free e-mail service that i could sign up for that would enable me to use outlook 2002 (some type of POP mail?). Please help. Thank you much.

Good Evening all! (I'm not a policeman by the way!)Im trying to change from Outlook Express to Outlook 2002 on Windows XP Home (but couldnt work out how to import/export from one to the other).Anyway, I dont seem to be able to add 2 Hotmail accounts to Outlook 2002. I had no problems doing this with Outlook Express though.Doesnt matter which way round I try to add them, the second one always 'times out' on initial set up(error 0x800CCC19). I've tried the help option (which says something about allowing longer server time-out times), but the advanced tab it mentions under 'more settings' for each email account doesnt appear!Anyone else experienced this before?Any help much appreciated as usual.Thanks.

I am using Outlook 2002 on a WIN XP Home system. Ever since I added my Hotmail account to Outlook (as a second account after my POP3 account) Outlook will not automatically send or receive mail, I have to manually invoke the send/receive option.
I've checked my account settings and I have it set to check for new mail every 2 minutes.
I have used Outlook 2002 for 6 months with no problems until I added my Hotmail account.

I set up the Hotmail account by going to Tools->Email Accounts-> Add a New Email Account and following the instructions.

Both my POP3 and my Hotmail accounts can send and receive mail just fine, Outlook just never initiates the action. As long as I manually do it everything is fine.

I have checked the Tools->Send/Receive settings->Define Send/Receive Groups and the box for 'Schedule an automatic Send/Receive every five minutes" is checked.

Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

As of last Thursday, I have been unable to send hotmail messages through Outlook 2002.

I have been sending messages this way for about a year without issues, but I suddenly noticed that although Outlook was telling me the message was sent (during synchronization), a copy of the message didn't appear in the 'Sent Mail' folder.

I then tried sending about 20 test messages to different domains and email addresses, but none of them ever arrived at their destination, nor did they appear in the sent mail folder...

Has anyone had this problem lately? Any ideas?

Thanks!

For a long time I was happy to use Outlook Express for all my emails (hotmail with msn.com). I arranged incoming emails in named folders which I could structure with sub-folders eg a 'personal' folder with subfolders for each friend I corresponded with.I shifted to Outlook as my email client because MS told me (ages ago) that I could no longer use OE for hotmail. The change hasn't been for the better. In particular, I don't seem to be able to create sub-folders any more. Is it possible? If so, how? (And if not, why not?).Another oddity seems to be that the messages are (apparently) not on my PC - or are they?

Answer:Outlook 2002 HotMail Folders & Subfolders

What you can do may depend on the email system you're using (I've never used Hotmail!). In general though, if you are using POP3 protocol, messages are retrieved from the ISP's POP3 server and stored in your computer. You should be able to create whatever sub-folders within the Inbox that you want to. With IMAP4 protocol, messages remain on the ISP's IMAP server and your email program "synchronises" with the server either automatically or when you run a Send/Receive session. As Hotmail is essentially a web-based system, you may be able to create sub-folders by going to the Hotmail website to configure them. If Hotmail is using Microsoft Exchange Server then, similarly to IMAP, Outlook will "synchronise" with the mail on the server rather than downloading and storing in your PC. This could be the reason why you have to use Outlook instead of Outlook Express which does support IMAP. Again, you may be able to configure sub-folders on the website, which Outlook will then pick up as it synchronises with the mail server.

Hi,

There is a similar forum post to this, but irrelevant to my query as my outlook is not showing as online.

I have a work email set up in Outlook that works fine, but I added a Hotmail email account to Outlook using the Hotmail Connector. When a new email comes in to the Hotmail account I get the corner pop up to say it is received, but when I go to the Hotmail inbox, it says "There are no items to show in this view".

I'm using Outlook 2010 in Windows 7. I don't know if it is relevant but when I go to Data Files, it says "Not Available" by the Hotmail one. Could this be the problem?

Thanks for reading, any help would be gratefully received.

Hi, is it possible to to restore old emails in outlook/hotmail, I did recover some from the recover box in outlook but it only got about 6 days worth, an email I looking for is 7+ days is there any programs or something else I can do to restore from a bit further back?

Answer:Recovering emails in outlook/hotmail

If you followed the method described here and still cannot retrieve the email(s), then I'm afraid it's probably impossible.  Deleted emails are "cleaned up" every so often.

Wondering if anyone can help with a strange problem. The text for writing emails in Outlook is set to 12. The first one, two maybe three paragraphs of an email I'm writing the text is the correct size.

However, as I go further down the page, lower paragraphs usually get smaller on their own the text goes down one, maybe two sizes. The type ends up quite small, and looks daft sending emails with two or sometimes three different text sizes. All the time this happens, the text size is still set to 12.

It's a desktop pc with windows 7 and IE11.

Any help appreciated.

Answer:Why does text in Outlook/Hotmail Emails Get Smaller?

Hello Woodbine, you are not alone. I have searched this before, and there are several ridiculous threads at Microsoft Answers (more like MS torture!). An example:

The font size changes when I am composing my email. - Microsoft Community

All without fixes. Some had success buy removing their email signature, where applicable. It has been a while, but I think it also had something to do with a corrupted Calibri font. You might try reinstalling that font

Calibri - Free Font Download

This isn't the fix for everyone. It has been a while, there was a spate of these when Hotmail changed to Outlook.com. This was also a problem in Office I believe.

For the past week, since 8/18/2004, E-mail that I send to Yahoo and Hotmail via Outlook Express 6, is being delayed. It is only certain addresses. It is taking up to 2 days and occassionally there is a mail failure. Hotmail sends me messages that the mail is being delayed and not to resend, but the recipient never receives it. My E-mail address is not blocked. When I send via internet, all is well. I have no other problems sending or recieivng to others.

Any thoughts?

I am running Windows XP Professional 2002 and Microsoft Office 2003 (Outlook 2003)

I was using the older version of Outlook Connector to access my Hotmail account, but recently it said that I needed to upgrade it. The automatic upgrade did not work properly, so I manually removed/un-installed the old Outlook Connector, removed the hotmail account within Outlook, and I also removed a bunch of hotmail.ost files hanging around that seemed to have no data in them (in C:\Documents and Settings\Default\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook) - I believe they were formed when I was going through all the problems with the supposedly automatic upgrade).

Then I manually downloaded and installed the newest version 14.1 for 32-bit and through the Outlook connector interface within Outlook, re-added the Hotmail account. But now when I try to click on any Hotmail folder, the following error message appears:
"Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook could not access the specified folder location."

So I feel like I am back at square one and not sure how to get the Connector to start connecting. Thanks for any advice.

Answer:Solved: Outlook Hotmail Connector unable to connect to Hotmail

Amazingly, I finally found the answer in another forum, of course only after I went to the trouble of making my earlier posting.

SETTING THE HOTMAIL ACCOUNT AS THE DEFAULT EMAIL ACCOUNT solves the accessing problem. I hope this can help some other poor souls out there!

I know some people have multiple hotmail accounts that they want to sync up with Outlook, and have no idea what to do in that case, but if you only have one account, this seems to work.

My partner and I both have hotmail live email accounts. I had his emails forwarding to mine because he doesn't regularly check his. I set this up years ago and don't even remember exactly how I did it.

The last email to him that was forwarded into my email was on 13 May.

Using his laptop I logged into his account directly and the Outlook Mail page looks different to mine. There were no emails in his account at all.

Using my laptop and email account I sent an email to his address and this came through to his email on his laptop but did not bounce forward into mine.

There were definitely emails sent to him in the last 19 days.

Any ideas on what is happening? And how we can find the emails that haven't turned up anywhere?

Thanks in advance.

I have a IMAP Hotmail account running on Outlook 2007 and suddenly it doesn't delete emails when I use the delete function on the toolbar and only sometimes deletes when I use the keyboard delete key, only then after going to another folder and coming back to my in box. I have tried running Account Setting again, even reloading my account. I used my Office 2007 disc to delete Outlook and reload it and still the problem persists. I have used Outlook 2007 and Hotmail for years without this problem. Has Windows 10 done something in an update that might cause this or what else could be my problem?

I have an XP PC and have always run my hotmail account through outlook 2003.
I now have a Vista laptop also Outlook 2003 and use it to access the same account.

I use the PC for viewing and use the laptop for filing emails into personal folders (pst's) or even sometimes hotmail folders.

Hotmail on the net is fine and shows all emails there.

However, when I have been on the PC to only view items, even if the PC is then powered off and then I access use Outlook on the laptop, the hotmail inbox is scattered with emails with no data other than the date and time stamp and do not know who the email was from or what it was about, unless I access it through hotmail on the web or return to the PC to view?

This has also happened visa versa, and I thought it was due to something being open at the same time or having filed something on the PC so it was no longer there, but now I only view on the PC and the problem persists. Can anyone help?

Please ask if you need more info.

I removed Outlook Hotmail Connector because I considered it bloatware. I don't use Hotmail. I use a hybrid system involving Outlook for my computer and Gmail for my Andriod phone and that is working fine.

After removing Connector, I kept getting a message from Outlook about installing the "upgrade" Hotmail Connector. As I was having the red x problem with graphic images not appearing in my Outlook emails, in despair I allowed it to load. The real fix came through as SP2 after I repaired Windows Update and got it working again.

So, is it bloatware? Is there a downside to removing it? Is it benign enough to just leave it alone? What would you do?

Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

hello this is my first post and I hope I can't find the answer to my problem with hotmail here.
I'm running a powerPC mac 256ram with safari 3.1.2 (I think it is the latest one) and I was having some trouble with hotmail. I opened the account 14 years ago in Malaysia (I'm living in London) and everything was running OK until last week. the add that is above hotmail's inbox (witch was always in Thai) started to cover the whole page, without me doing nothing. then I upgraded safari and the add thing was solved but now I can't access any of my emails. I can get to the inbox but that's pretty much it. I can't enter any email, or go to another folder, I can only sign out and move trough the hotmail, spaces and all that stuff that has nothing to do with the inbox.
please if anyone can help me I would really appreciate that, since I really need to use my hotmail account.
I've trued activation and de activation of java, deleting cookies, reseting safari, I'm really running out of ideas.... please help me out!!!
thank you very much in advance.

My wife has a Hotmail account. Occassionally and seemingly randomly, emails that she sends to my email (a corporate email) are not getting through. Some of the time, she gets a bounce back reply message. Sometimes she doesn't. When she gets it, all it says is:

"This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification. Delivery to the following recipients failed."

She says my email address is the only one that bounces back to her. I had my IT guy check on it from our end, and when he looks in the system he sees:

"Diagnostics-Code: smtp; 503 This mail server requires authentication when attempting to send to a non-local email address. Please check your mail client settings or contact your administrator to verify that the domain or address is defined for this server".

My IT guy said the forums he checked out showed hundreds of Hotmail users having similar problems, but he didn't tell me anything about the possible solution (yet).

Any ideas????????

My ISP is Orange broadband (via a LiveBox router) and I have found that emails sent from both my webmail and Outlook Express no longer arrive at any Hotmail addresses including my own Hotmail address. No error message is received and the sent messages appear normally in my Sent Box with a date and time. This happens both with very brief emails and also longer ones with or without attachments. The unusual factor is that this has started recently as previously all emails sent to Hotmail arrived normally. No changes have been made by me recently which might have caused this

I have a laptop running Windows XP and 2 days ago when I login to my Hotmail account it will not open any emails. I can successfully get to my inbox but once there I can do nothing else such as open emails, start a new email, go to another email folder. Nothing I click on will work.

I have IE8, Firefox 10.0.2, and Chrome and Hotmail will not work in any web browser.

I have Vista on another computer and hotmail works fine there.

I have Restored the laptop 2 times to previous dates where I know that hotmail was working fine with no success. I saw on article that said to set the Hotmail/Options/Privacy Settings to use HTTPS automatically and that has not corrected the problem either.

On IE8 I have reset to the original default settings and still no luck.

I would very much appreciate any further suggestions.

Thanks

Well,
Hotmail.com is just getting worst. I cant even open emails, I can actually see the inbox, but I cant open any of the emails at least that I browse in private navigation in firefox. But I already deleted, coockies, history, cache, updated java.

If I hadnt all my important mails in hotmail, I would already changed to gmail or something.

Thanks

Answer:Cant read my emails on hotmail

Microsoft seems to be making even more "improvements" to Hotmail, so maybe your current problem is, like highway construction, just a "temporary inconvenience."

To make sure that it is not something in your Firefox configuration have you tested with another browser? Or with Firefox's Safe mode?

Hi all, my girlfriend's Hotmail email account is sending out emails to a few email addresses in my contacts.
5-6 times per day.
They show up in the sent items folder.
They say things like
"are you unhappy in your job, want more money?" etc and a link to click
Changed the password a couple of times and after a while it happens again.
Unsure if there's a problem with the machine or maybe just the email account has been compromised...
PS my profile data is different to the machine I'm posting off.
I'm on her laptop..
Any help is really appreciated!

Answer:Emails sent to hotmail being rejected

If this is happening among many receipiants, I would look at reputation issues and bell your ISP for advice. Quite simply then: You are paying for a service which is not fit for purpose etc etc... They'll have to look at it for you, they're good like that!... ;)

I have been using these Hotmail accounts with OE for 5-6 years now. I am aware that no new Hotmail accounts can be used with OE unless you sign up to their premium service. The only thing that i have done since last night was to install the latest version of Internet Explorer 7.Does anyone know of any conflicts between Hotmail/OE/IE? Or of any other reasons why i cannot access my Hotmail accounts through OE?Thanks.

Is it possible to find my hotmail emails from 2003 back to 2000
I have not deleted them, they were in a folder on the hotmail interface,Can only find emails from 2004 onwards

Answer:Hotmail emails pre 2004

What happened to the folder? Is it gone? Have you ever used an e-mail desktop program like Outlook Express? If you did, maybe you downloaded it using POP settings, and it's gone. If it's not in the web interface, and you can't find it downloaded anywhere, then you can't get it back. Microsoft doesn't restore e-mail for free accounts. I doubt they'd even keep a backup for a paid account going back 10+ years.

My wife has a Hotmail account, and she paid for the service with Hotmail that allows her to get her Hotmail on her Blackberry (Tmobile is the provider, if that matters). I am finding out from her what application she uses to read her Hotmail on her Blackberry (I am guessing Outlook Express? But maybe not).

The problem is this. She gets emails from a number of people, including me. However, from time to time she will get duplicate emails from me on her blackberry, when I've only sent the message once. I've asked her if she gets the same duplicate messages on Hotmail on the PC - I am waiting to hear back from her. Sometimes she gets one extra copy, sometimes two copies, and sometimes it is three or more. But I am the only person she gets multiple copies of emails from. I was sending them from my work email address. Then I changed to my Gmail, but she is still getting duplicate emails on occassion, but only from me. And in fact, it seems like it may be happening more frequently since I moved to Gmail. And it doesn't seem to matter whether I send the messages from the PC or my work's iPhone.

On one hand, I think the issue has to be on her end and is a result of some link between her Blackberry and Hotmail account. On the other hand, why am I the only person she is having the duplicate email issue with.

And ideas?

Greetings all,
Got a strange one I can't seem to figure out. My wife has a Toshiba Netbook running Win7 with IE 8. Yesterday as she does everyday, she logged into her Hotmail, seen her new email but when she clicks on an available email, nothing happens.
Here is what I have checked so far:
1.) Cleared cookies and temp internet files
2.) Reset Internet Explorer
3.) Checked advanced settings under browser settings and made sure it was set to Automatic
4.) Opened up another hotmail account to see if it was account specific and could not open up emails in that account either.
5.) Opened Firefox on my linux machine and verified that I could open the emails under her hotmail account with no issue.

I have googled this issue but have not found the exact issue.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions, guidance, and help.

All the best,

Ian

I like to keep a copy of all emails I send, but with Hotmail that means remembering to tick the box at the bottom of the screen. Is there a way to set Hotmail to automatically save a copy of ALL sent emails?

Answer:Saving Sent emails in Hotmail

According to Hotmail, there is no other setting:

To keep track of messages you send, you can place copies in the Sent Messages folder.

1. Go to the Mail page.
2. Click New, and then write your message.
3. Select Copy Message to Sent Messages Folder below the message area, and then click Send.

<NOTE: This is from their HELP area>

I did think at one time there was an option, but I guess that is not the case (as far as I know).

In all browsers, today and on other occasions, hotmail emails will not open. The top email, most recent, is highlighted and the round hourglass just circles and circles. If I move the cursor up and down the list of emails in the Inbox, the X and flag on the right become visible but clicking on them yields nothing. Since it occurs intermittently but in all browsers when it occurs, does this sound like an account or connectivity issue? I am on a good 3G connection with VPN enabled. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Answer:Hotmail emails will not open sometimes

Sounds like a (Hotmail) server issue or a problem somewhere in the network between the server and your computer.

I have set my printer, canon i350, as default and it has caused no problems over the last three months. I go to file then down to print but it just puts through a blank page.Should I dump Outpost if that is the cause of the problem and then reload my print or have I made an error somewhere.I am running XP, Thanks for any help

Answer:Cannot print emails from Hotmail.

Try opening Outpost and clicking on Options then Application and check if your browser is in Trusted Applications, if it isn't drag and drop it in there. The reason is Outpost might be blocking a port that the browser needs for printing.

Answer:Hotmail fancy emails

What program was it you "signed up" for? Are you sending Hotmail via Outlook Express or using the website? OE has stationery backgrounds, but I'm not aware of this on Hotmail. Were there no instructions on the site you signed up to?

Hi,
I recently changed my web server to a reputed server in Poland and have found problems when sending emails to Hotmail or Yahoo accounts. My sever guys claim that the mails are being delivered to the respective Hotmail and Yahoo servers but are not being delivered onwards to the destined mailboxes. I wrote to Hotmail about this and the said they are not blocking anyservers and sent me some instructions to follow in my hotmail account but this did not help. Can someone please advice how to tackle this problem. Is the fault at my end or the Hotmai/Yahoo end ?

Answer:Hotmail not delivering emails

While they may not be blocking them, the spam filters used by Hotmail and Yahoo may be binning them for some reason. make sure that they are plain text with no graphics or attachments and see if they go through?

Answer:Hotmail blocking my emails

More likely your email address has been spoofed by spammers using it to hide thier email address, and has been blacklisted. I've been fighting this problem for years.

Another possibility is your computer is a zombie (infected with malware), sending email out when you aren't looking. You might think about following the procedure spelled out in the malware forum to see if this is the case.

As to getting a response from hotmail, you might see if you're friends or family using hotmail can leave feedback with MSN to resolve the issue. They are a lot more likely to pay attention to a customer than a potential spammer.
