Comcast Blocking Outgoing Email to an Email Address

Question: Comcast Blocking Outgoing Email to an Email Address

I recently changed to comcast cable internet. I can send and receive mail at my email. However, I cannot send to someone at an "" email address. I have NEVER had this problem with this domain.

I went over all settiings with comcast and they are correct.

Does anyone know how to UNBLOCK an email address from not being able to be sent to? Or, is there a setting or workaround so that i can send from comcast to the email address?

Comcast has not told me it is blocked, but I can think of no other reason and I've read that they randomly block TONS of email domains for "spam" purposes.

Anyone else have a solution to this? Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I need to be able to block an outgoing email to specific email addresses. Basically I send out a very low level (less than 20/week) of marketing emails to addresses culled from various sites. Occasionally I get an email back asking me to remove an email address from my mailing list (which I don't really have). Is there any way for me to enter the email address in a distribution list and then have Outlook (2007) verify that the To: addressee is not in that list or, if it is, to alert me and/or defer/block the send?

I am confused. Where are you getting these email addresses if you don't have a list?

I set up my Thunderbird account and am able to download emails from my server,, without any problem. I have another computer at my dad's house and he uses over there, and I never had any issue with thunderbird.

However, at my other house, which has Comcast as an internet service provider, I am having issues with sending emails. Whenever I go to send an email, I get an error message saying that the SMTP server was not found, and the email doesn't send.

I've tried messing with the SMTP outgoing message settings, like changing the port 25 to the 587 and the other one, whatever it is. Tried changing around my username and stuff, but nothing seems to work. I'm stuck now because I never had this problem at the other house and I am not too good with computers so when stuff starts to go wrong like this, I don't know what to do. I read the comcast forums, nothing they said helped. I called Comcast also trying to explain the situation, but they told me I gotta contact my service provider, which is, but then the people hosting my site told me it's not an issue with them - and I agree because I don't have this problem with

Please help. Thank you.

Answer:Problems with outgoing SMTP email using Thunderbird & Comcast

Double check with Comcast to make sure that they allow users on their network to send e-mail through non-Comcast SMTP servers. Some ISPs block such connections as an anti-spam measure. In this case, they may allow connecting to such servers using an authenticated connection having different port numbers.

When using the Comcast connection, can you ping the other mail server?

Just installed free 2015 Avast on my SIL's rig. Set it up just like mine which runs great. However, after install cannot send emails from Win Live OR from her iPad. I can understand that Avast could interfere with Win Live as there are many reported cases. But, how could Avast on her PC possibly affect her iPad mail account? Could there be something associated with SSL happening at her router? This problem seems restricted to her Verizon email account as I can add my Verizon email account to her iPad and it works fine through her router. I plan to disable the Avast Mail Shield to see if that helps. Then I will unistall Avast and go back to MS Essentials. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

I am encountering a problem where my ZoneAlarm Firewall will not allow me to send emails with attachments larger than 1Mb (smaller attachments send ok). I use to run BlackIce defender without problems but it was over two years old so I uninstalled it and installed the free ZoneAlarm Firewall (v5.5).
Ever since, when I try to send an email with a large attachment,
the red and green ZoneAlarm indicator bars light up like they are supposed to next to the clock in the lower right corner and my cable internet gateway and modem show internet activity for the message being sent.
However after a period of time, the ZA banner comes back up in the taskbar, and internet activity quits as the leds' on the modem quit blinking even though my outlook express (v6.0) still says "sending message". About 30 seconds later I get an error message saying: "server connection terminated, socket error: 10054, Error Number 0x800CCC0F".
I uninstalled v5.5 and installed ZoneAlarms free 6.0 firewall but I still get the same problem. ZoneAlarm is acting like the firewall is timing out and closing the conncetion before the message can be completely sent.
If I shutdown the firewall, I can send the same message again without error so ZoneAlarm is definitely the culprit, (however that defeats the purpose of having a firewall). I have configured the firewall to allow the IP address on my gateway and internet server as well as grant access for Internet Explorer (v6.0) and Outlook Exp... Read more

I use pop3 for email. My email incoming server is my hosted domain name one, and my outgoing is connected when I signed up for Sky broadband.Everything has been fine for months, but now I have just noticed in the last few days that my outgoing emails which should come from my own email address [email protected],are instead showing as '"[email protected]"; on behalf of; [email protected].This is unacceptable - I don't want people getting confused about what my email address is. I have spoken to Sky who say they are updating something, but one of their 'superusers' says that it will now always show up as 'on behalf of' from now on.Is there anyway around this...their only helpful suggestion was to sign up to hotmail! Please help!ThanksBev

i doubt it as your isp is responsible for how your mail address is displayed and their suggestion of web based like yahoo, hotmail etc appears to be your only option unless someone knows different.johnny.

Hi,I received an e-mail from comcast the other day, well here it is.

Dear Comcast Subscriber:
ACTION REQUIRED: Comcast has determined that your computer(s) have been used to send unsolicited email ("spam"), which is generally an indicator of a virus. For your own protection and that of other Comcast customers, we have taken steps to prevent further transmission of spam from your computer(s).

Comcast has blocked my outgoing mail and is telling me through this email that I should change my port from 25 to another, they sent me a link to do this. My question is that should I change my port for outgoing email ( I'm going to call them on the phone tomorrow and see what's up ).

I have SpySweeper and NOD32 and I do not have a virus or spam on my computer like comcast is telling me I have.

Answer:Comcast Blocking Outgoing e-mail

Hi Marlene

I would either change the port as they instructed or better still just humour me and go through the malware Read Me guide in the Malware forum, start a thread in there attach the logs and see if indeed you have some sneeky malware ( some nasty ones of late are around ) and if you do run the guide get the all clear from the guys their, you can go back at Comcast and tell then your malware free and what are they thinking is causing them to block you on port 25.

Or well... just bite the bullet and change to the other port, so long as you can still send email I wouldnt worry what port its going via, BUT I know its not nice to be accused of something you know is not caused by you.

Do let us know how you get on.

I want to test a bunch of PHP applications on my test web server that send emails to various email addresses, and instead of them going to the different addresses I would like them to either go to a gmail account or to a plaintext file on the web server.

Does anyone know of a configuration or sendmail replacement that I could use to achieve this?
I am using Windows as the test web server's OS and using SMTP for PHP's mail() function currently.

Answer:Send all outgoing emails to text file or 1 email address?

If you want them to go to a gmail account you could just change the to address from the various addresses to the gmail address. If you're getting your various email addresses from a database or something just change the code that you're pulling the email addresses from.

If you want to output the message to a text file you would just have to use fwrite.

Posting code would be helpful.

My husband is receiving emails at work from one particular person that he wants to block and try to bounce back a message to let this person know that the emails are not wanted so that they, hopefully, will stop sending them.

He is using an Outlook Exchange 2003 system, which can also be accessed using remote webmail from any other computer.

Is there a simple way to do this? He has been to their tech department and all they suggest is blocking it, which marks it as spam. He has tried this, but the message still downloads into the Junk folder. He could delete all spam, and therefore this message, if marked in the above way, but he does not want to simply delete all spam, as some may be genuine emails. He really wants this person to know, or at least think, that either his email address is invalid, or that their emails are not welcome.

Answer:Blocking/bouncing email address

The tech department should be able to black list an address in the mail server. Other then really can't "bounce" a message back as thats not following standards. Or he could write on outlook rule to move anything from that address to the trash on his machine.

Hi! I'll try to keep this as brief as possible, but it's really difficult to explain. One of my email buddies (fortunately he's an honest person) recently told me that any email I send him, from both my home and work computers, has a ton of garbled info attached to the end of the email... The info includes previous emails I've sent to other people, cell phone bill details, shopping details - ANY and EVERYTHING I do online is connected to my emails to him. It doesn't matter what email I use... My Outlook account at work, Gmail, Aol, RR... it all attaches info to EVERY email I send to him. Even the "Read Receipt" he receives when I click on one of his emails has info attached to it. !?!?!?!!! IT'S EXTREMELY DISTURBING! And he also receives info from my family members who use my computer at home, so it's not just MY info he's receiving.

I do know that he is on a "Whitelist" with the company he works for (for a very important reason), so he's not bound to the security that everyone else is protected by. He's had his computer restaged twice and it still keeps happening. He uses Outlook and it happens with his desktop AND his laptop at work.

I thought about talking to my IT Helpdesk at work, but haven't yet since this is happening from EVERY computer I use, so I know it's not a specific computer issue. Is there, perhaps, something that my friend has done, without my knowing, to gain access to my per... Read more

I wasn't sure where to post this, so please move, if it needs to be elsewhere.

I've got a windows 98 machine that refuses to send out email. I have tried Incredimail, OE, and Netscape, but all crash when I try to send email. "This program has perfromed and illegal opertaion and will be shut down".(or something of that sort)

I can get mail from anywhere but can never send. I have talked with my ISP several times, but they are pretty much out of options. They insist that the account is finem, and I do believe them. There web based email system works fine for me to send and recieve.

Things I've tried so far: IE repair tool, re-creating accounts, two new installs of Incredimail, upgrade of IE, deleted outbox files, and not to mention trying three different email programs.

Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

Answer:outgoing email closes all email programs

very odd problem...

is it possible to start windows 98 in safe mode and try it there?

There must be some sort of conflict. This may sound strange but on one of the email program forums I read that they recommended a user update his/her video drivers when they reported win98 crashing while sending mail.

Try safe mode first.

Dear Microsoft & Social Technet Microsoft,
Email that lays in the "Junk Email" system does Not allow deletion.
This is technical problem that spans many types of Email addresses.
If Microsoft has the ability to Recognize Junk Email, then it should
allow for its proper Deletion or Blocking.
Too many times when I select a list of Junk Email to "Block", I'm
left with an Alert phrase that says:
"This action can't be performed because the senders address
   "<>" isn't valid.
   (Please see the image "BlockMailList-Cant(111216).png")

Then it STOPs the rest of the list from being processed.
When I try to match the Email Title to the designation in
the presented list (that can't be performed), I am left with
NO way to define which of the many emails that might be.
 (Please see the image "BlockMailList(111216).png")

The Alert Message does NOT match the Titled Email with the
message.  The message is only the internal email addresses.
Therefore, the two data lists can't be matched.
 (Please see the image ("JunkMail-IDsWontGo(5)(111516.png")

Lately, I've resorted to "Block"ing them One-At-A-Time.
That is very time consuming and doesn't follow Microsoft Protocol.

How do I get Outlook to autofill?

Also when I click the 'TO' button in the new email window, it says that there is no address book!

Any ideas how I can get this to work correctly again.

When you did the re-install, did you erase/format the hard drive before the re-install? If you did and did not save the Outlook auto fill file, then the all the auto fills you had are gone. Did you import the pst file into outlook?

I've just found a pst file with all my old email. I'd like to put them back on the server (hotmail) but before doing that I've seen that some of them were not recived (or sent) to my actual address ( but to an old one ( So I was thinking to export them from outlook 2013 to CSV, modify that address into the new one and then import them back on outlook 2013. The problem is that when I export them to CSV, in that file they don't have the date (received or sent) and so when I get them back on outlook 2013 they miss that info.
Can anyone help me doing this? I've been told that VBA macro should be useful for this, but having a look in it I have no idea of what I sould do.
Ah, instead of outlook 2013 I can also use thunderbird (45.3.0) if it's easier with it, but then I'd have to convert that pst file.

Application.Options.SendMailAttach = True 'Or False

However, I can't figure out how have it put a specific address into the To field of the document.

So I tried another tact. I have the email address as a hyperlink in the document, and set a bookmark at the hyperlink. Then I created a module that will go to the bookmark and open the hyperlink. However, this will not add the document as an attachment:

Hi guys,
'Boopme' had me run MiniToolBox and he wrote that he found "errors and other issues" and he bumped me to this thread.
Norton now seems to be removed and the restart was successful w/ out a restore.
This is what I wrote in under the from "Am I infected?" thread;

Been having problems with my laptop running Vista Home premium svc pack2.
One day, a month ago, Norton was not updating properly. Upon the next boot-up windows would not start and I was forced to restart in safe mode with a system restore. This was successful but Norton Security Suite was still not updating properly.
Since then, on a few occasions, I have attempted to uninstall Norton without success thru the program uninstaler. Norton is unresponsive. I even got the Norton rep. to do a remote deletion of all registry files of Norton. But they all returned after the reboot of my PC because windows would not open and I had to start-up thru system restore.
Since then my yahoo email been hacked and spam sent to the contacts of my address book.
I know I got something but I don't know what.. Can anyone take a stab at what I might need to do?

When I got BellSouth DSL years ago I had Outlook email account set up with BellSouth as outgoing and old domain as incoming so I could keep my email address from another domain. It worked fine until a year or so ago I had to add another account just for BellSouth and that worked fine.

Within last few weeks emails from my email address (old domain) would not send. I've been through it with ATT tech several times to no avail.

It seems that ATT has trapped me out and does not want me to be able to keep my old email.

There's bound to be a way to set up my email accounts so my outgoing email from my other ISP provider will send through BellSouth without changing my very old and reliable email address.

Also, I recently have acquired my own domain name and I fear emails from that email address will suffer the same fate.

I hope this is not too long, but PLEASE HELP if you can.

Answer:Can't send email using different domain in email address BellSouth trapped me out...

If your BellSouth e-mail service is provided by Yahoo, then you probably need to go through a registration and authentication process for each e-mail address you want to send through a non BellSouth/Yahoo mail server. At least that is what I had to go through as an SBC/ATT DSL customer. They claim that they do the blocking to prevent from originating from users within their network.

EDIT: Forgetting my manners. Hi and welcome to TSG.

and now the latest will be, add to that a couple more in the list above i forgot the endings of its quite the list for about 8yrs worth.

Gmail? Yahoo? anything else worth considering as a permanent email address?

I'll bet you have not heard this one before. I was attempting to send an email to a potential client. Everything seemed to work well except that it was returned. The problem was that the address was changed somewhere. His name is spelled with a j but somewhere along the line, it was changed to a k and so there was no such person and therefore was returned to me.

#550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.RecipNotFound; not found ##rfc822;

What could have happened? This is a new one on me.

Answer:outlook 2007 changed email address so email was returned

Short story. Moved to another state, got new email address, went to change to new email address in usrcp.
Followed instructions, then everything went cattiwampus.

Using the KISS method, I ONLY want to change from orig email addr to new one. Everything else stays the same.

Answer:Changed email address, recd confirm email, followed it, no result?

Sounds like you may have been taken in by a phishing ploy.

Can you explain the acronym usrcp, and cattiwampus is what makes me think phishing ploy. Run your panda product and see what shows up.

Do you still have the email? If you do, post a screenshot.

I just linked one of my email accounts to my personal gmail account so I could consolidate all my email but I found that it is much too cluttered. Now I have a mess in my personal gmail account.

How can I delete all the email from the linked account (which is now removed, but messages are still downloading) from my personal gmail inbox?

Answer:how to delete all email from a specific linked email address in gmail

Go to : Settings > Filters

The trick is to put a TO or FROM in the search field and hit TEST SEARCH, instead of applying the filter. Then delete what is in the search results. Now I don't know of a way to do this by account, but as long as you know the recipient or sender address (which would be your old email), then it should work fine. In your case, just put the sender address as your old email account and test the search, it should pull up all the email for you to delete

Is there some way of moving all messages from my hotmail account to another email address? So when I emails are sent to my hotmail address they are then sent to my other email address, (then deleted from hotmail).
Is there a program that can sit on the desktop that is always checking hotmail, and when a email is recieved it is then sent to another email address? (this address is not a hotmail address).

Any possibilities??

Answer:Make all email that is recieved from my hotmail account go to another email address.

if you have outlook express linked to your hotmail account you can run a rule on the mail - not sure if it works on webmail cia outlook/outlook express
but the rume to forward certainly works

Sounds like a spammer got your email address and is spoofing the return to or from address using yours instead. It could also be that someone is infected and their computer had you email address. Here's an example of headers shown in real emailReturn-Path: <[email protected]>Received: from ([]) by (InterMail vM. 201-2186-126-20070710) with ESMTP id <[email protected]net> for <[email protected]>; Thu, 26 Feb 2009 07:51:51 -0600Received: from ([]) by (InterMail vG. 201-2196-120-20070322) with SMTP id <[email protected]> for <[email protected]>; Thu, 26 Feb 2009 07:51:51 -0600

Someone sent me something really funny. It's all a few JPG.
But there is no attachment in my attachment folder of eudora, which means she didn't send me any attachment, so I assume she sent me a link on a graphics JPG.

I can't right click and save those JPG, and I can't seem to view the link assuming it is a link.

Any advice?

Hi all,

I have a problem, a client had a setup with another mailserver (Mdaemon), that allowed him to do that.
Anyone knows how to do the same in Exchange? I thought about distribution lists, but I don't think it will work to have a dist. list called [email protected], with the members joe, martin and peter. You can't have an email address with the same name as a distribution list right?

How would you solve this?

Answer:How to forward all the email sent to an email address to 2 other (Exchange 2003)?

You could have [email protected] go to joe, martin, and peter and you can call it [email protected] if you like.

If you are talking about Joe having the e-mail address [email protected] and he wants e-mails to go to martin and peter as well, then you can do that, but it would work best by using Outlook to create the server side rule. Though I have a few issues with that, in that if Joe gets something non-work related it will go to the other two as well.

Also you could create [email protected] if Joe's e-mail address is [email protected] or [email protected] or [email protected], or [email protected]

i have been trying to fix my email/outlook spam issue.  emails are going out WITH my actual email address, sending emails to people in my contacts, etc.
I also have been getting a ton of spam emails myself.
I use:
-Windows 7 Pro
-64 Bit
-Outlook 2010
-I have our own domain name email address, that is hosted by Frontier
Odd thing:  I changed my password for my email, but my outlook kept sending/receiving with the old password.
When I tried to update  the new password in outlook (which I verified by using the webmail versus outlook), it would not accept it.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hi, I would like to know if there are any way to catch and send IP address of someone who login to Such private email like yahoo, gmail, etc. to us ? Is there any web services give that service for free ? or we have to send script or file to target Laptop ? This metoe is important to find someone who missing ?Thank You

Answer:Email IP address from user login to spesific others email

This would be private information that Yahoo/Gmail would have. Probably the only legal way to do it would be to get them involved. Even then, the ip address may or may not assist you in location as that information on the particular ip address may also be behind another services system. If its a criminal matter, I would recommend going through proper authorities.mike

For what it is worth, I backup My Thunderbird and Firefox with MozBackup great as it is to have tools such as Firefox and Thunderbird, backing them up can be a tedious process. MozBackup is a tiny program that makes saving and restoring all your bookmarks, extensions, and other personal settings a streamlined and stress-free experience. The program works with Firefox, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, and Netscape on Windows platforms. It doesn't work with Firefox Portable, Sunbird, Songbird, or Flock, but for standard Windows iterations of the programs in the Mozilla suite, it's almost silly to not use this program.Close the program you want to back up, then runI used MozBackup recently to move all my Thunderbird email and settings and Firefox favorites etc. from one computer to another. No problems. It seems to me that your plan is sound, Import into Thunderbird, Backup, install Thunderbird on new computer and restore everything.Did I mention you can you can check or uncheck what you want and not backup what you don't want to backup.Hope this helpsRoger

There are many disposable email address (DEA) services but they are limited in time which means you have to get a new email every time you open an account and you have to use the webmail interface they provide you to retrieve email. NotSharingMyInfo will automatically send all email to your real email account and the forwarding address they give to you will not be deleted, you can reuse that very same address to recover passwords if necessary, a feature requiring the email you previously used for registration.

If you start to get spam you can cancel your NotSharingMyInfo email address asking for a cancellation email link to your real email address. In our village in Spain, we have a very dodgy wireless internet access system, run by a company called NijarNet that is very difficult to communicate with - partly a language problem and partly because their customer service is dreadful. I have 13 clients with accounts here (I'm a management agent), and I manage these for them - they are all either wifi or wimax which pick up the signal from various antennae in the area. One such client was having no problem until something called Spamcop blocked his emails. Since then, he is unable to send emails from his 02 account, although he can send from his gmail account with no problem. He can receive on both accounts. O2 says it's not their problem, but that I must talk to the provider (which I have tried to do but they deny it's their problem and can't/won't give any advice on what the problem might be). I reckon it's something fairly simple that I might be able to sort myself, maybe a setting on the router? Can you offer any advice? He's tried it on several different laptops, devices etc with no luck. Any advice would be gratefully received.

I am helping a friend with their computer mess. The husband uses Windows Live as his email client and the wife uses direct Road Runner.

They both use the same computer. When the husband tries to send email to his wife's email acct, she never receives it. Yet he can send emails to me and I am a Road Runner email address. So I know that his Windows Live is set up correctly.

His wife's email is working fine directly through Road Runner as she can send and receive emails.

SO... Seems to me the issue has something to do with using the same computer and he never signs out of Windows Live. (I personally use Outlook as I am a business and am not familiar with Windows Live)

He never gets any kind of Undeliverable mail message or anything.

Can anyone help me here. I'm am do back over to continue cleaning up some other issues with his system. And I'm not sure where to go from here.

Hi guys heres one that is driving me nuts.
an email account is set up with an isp here , its
so the email is say [email protected]
now joe has two email aliases on his account e.g.

[email protected]
[email protected]

now when joe accesses his account through outlook it obviously checks the btconnect account and sends the mail to the correct alias, but it cant seem to do it.
what happens is , it logs on checks one alias then the server errors whilst checking the other as it is still logged on i assume to the main btconnect mail account and so errors out

e.g [email protected] works and errors out
i would like to find a way to check flooring first and roofing after but cant figure it out
someone suggested using identities in outlook express but isnt outlook the better program and surely there is some kind of feature for this problem

usually after it gets its bearings it is then happy and says send receive complete but after a couple of tries and leaving an error message at the bottom of the screen
as it is trying to check the two accounts on the same email address at the same time.
any ideas anyone
i am even willing to try thunderbird instead
just the managers like the calender etc in outlook

Answer:Outlook Using 2 email aliases on one email address

still no ideas on this one.
maybe using rules in outlook would help.
I could just check mail from the BT account
e.g. [email protected] and filter the mail for the aliases into the corresponding mail box, but how then if a mail is written in outlook could it be send from the correct account.
e.g [email protected] or [email protected] rather than the mail appearing as though it was sent from [email protected] , wow outlook is confusing stuff lol.

Hi everyone. A few days ago I got a mailerdamon failure notice. I looked and it was a link sent out to a bunch of my contacts....I've changed my password about 4 times, and it just happened again today. I'm changing my password from another computer btw. When I look in my sent folder, it doesn't have the virus email as one that's been sent. I just downloaded Avira Antivirus, and it says its blocking a site from connecting to my computer, it scanned and found two GEN/ virus and quarantined them. I'm also getting a DEP error on IE when I try to get on the net.

Worth noting, the past few days I was on another forum do to my computer trying to connect to "pinball corp". I was using malwarebytes at that time, which I've since uninstalled because Avira says it might conflict with it. We went through all the malware removal procedures, and when I tried to run TFC.exe, my computer froze. So I hardbooted it. When it came back on I couldn't run any programs, and my wireless network driver was uninstalled. I was able to delete a lot of programs from my startup folder that I wasn't using, and when I restarted I could run programs again.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

1) The email app in Windows 8.1 on her laptop just stopped working. She can no longer send or receive emails at all from any of her accounts. She says that she believes it has happened before maybe even a couple times a month.

2) This may or may not be related - The main email address in the app is her work email address from an old job. Whether it's related or not, she wants to undo that and have her primary email address to login or whatnot. She has since deleted all of her other email addresses from the app.

Hopefully others have had this issue and able to assist.

Hello! I'm a (very) long time lurker of this site but recently decided to join. I've had my Windows 8.1 Toshiba Satellite laptop for a bit over a month. About 2 weeks into ownership I started receiving spam emails in my msn account, the one I use to sign into the laptop. These mails are sometimes from me, although I have checked my sent mail and there isn't anything there I haven't personally sent. I signed into a different email account and that one was spammed too, until I signed out.
I access the internet from my phone and my desktop pc (Windows 7). I wasn't sure where the issue was coming from so I turned off the desktop but the problem persisted. I did a system restore on the I ran AntiMalwarebytes, CCleaner, and my antivirus programs which all came back clean, but the problem is still here.
I've factory restored three times, completely reformatted the drive twice and I still have the problem. I installed Windows 10 Preview but I didn't receive any spam for the hours I had it running. I reinstalled my OEM version of 8.1 and within 2 hours the spam emails started. The last time, I hadn't even installed my firewall and antivirus program when the spam email started. I also noticed that my OneDrive says the last time the files were synced was in 1969.
Having the laptop in airplane mode or shut off is the only way I don't receive spam.

How do I set a G Mail email address as my default email address on Windows 7?

Answer:How do I set a G Mail email address as my default email on W...

Hi, Gmail is not a program, it is a web base email service therefore you can't set Gmail as default email in Windows 7. But if you also have Outlook (One Office program) on your machine, you can set Gmail as your default in Outlook. Other email programs (yes, programs) may also support this. Regards.

I think I have asked this before. I am getting so much spam email im sick of deleting it all! These fat heads who send it to me I wish they would stop.

Some of the emails say "Your date has been approved with Jenn" Then will say my husband is away for a week so if the first date goes well we will try another.

Come talk to jean and see her body at bla bla website.

I get so many others too. Partsolver and towel direct?? I now have between my two computers almost 200 unread of spam emails and some thats not spam. It takes forver to go through and delete them all.

Ive been told not to hit unsubscribe but sometimes it helps. They say then they know your email is valid. Well they must or they would cease to email me so whats it going to matter to unsubscribe?

Ive even tried to "bounce to sender" but nothing works! Is there any way to block emails from these people? Or not allow them on my server? A auto bounce before they even come on my pc?

Maybe I should just ask my ISP I dont know. I thought id ask one last time.

Answer:I get lots of spam email to my email address

There are usually two places where SPAM filtres can be effective. The most obvious is at your ISP's Mailbox; because how ISPs handle the spam filter vary, I can give no explicit instructions, although their on-line help section generally will provide those.
The second place is at your Email Client on your computer. FF/Mozilla both include teachable Spam filters that you can use to segregate legitimate mail from the gunk.

The best place to stop SPAM is to be extremely careful about your Email Address. It would be a wise step to have one Email Address for friends, family, and trusted people, and a "throwaway" Email address (s) for on-line registrations, Ebay, or other public places. Once these addresses become, as they will, clogged with SPAM, you can simply delete them and create new addresses, beginning the process over again.

Question: Outgoing email?

Answer:Outgoing email?

Do not reinstall windows because you can not send email. That will NOT solve anything for you.

On those two other systems that the outgoing email server works, are they in the same house and on the same network as the machine that it does not work on?

Or are they on another network with another ISP?

What I am getting at is SMTP servers (if setup properly) only allow you to send mail through them if you are on their network or authenitacate with them (different than auth. with the POP server to recieve your mail). Are you getting an error message like "No relay allowed"? Also it is important that you take note of the EXACT error message and number assoiciate with it, makes debugging it easier.

If it is a relay issue, then all you need to do is find out the correct SMTP server for your network, and use that for you outgoing SMTP setting (leave the incoming POP setting the same).

Can't send email.
I can receive it just fine.

I installed McAfee Antivirus Plus 2010 about a week ago.
No problems, except this one.

When I try to send email, I get the following error:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'Comcast Online', Server: '', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I read a bunch of suggestions online and the only thing that made sense was to change the port.
Multiple suggestions said to change the port from 25 to 587.
I tried it and it didn't work.
After I changed it to 587, I got the following error message:
The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was '[email protected]'. Subject 'test', Account: 'Comcast Online', Server: '', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.1.0 Authentication required', Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

Any idea what might be going on?

Question: Outgoing email

We have a Sky broadband service, and my main email is Sky. I have other accounts as well, and when I want to send mail, I get the option which account I want to use for the sender. I recently bought my wife a notebook pc, and my daughter set her up with Firefox and Thunderbird. She can receive emails ok through our Sky account, but when she tries to send, the only option is my account name. How can I change this?

Answer:Outgoing email

Tools - Account Settings... - Outgoing Server (SMTP) - select the server used - Edit... - change the User Name.

Question: Outgoing email

My ISP is ntl cable (now Virgin Media). I have no problems with incoming mail using Outlook Express and get lots of emails. However when I try to send an email I get the following error message. An unknown error has occurred. Account: '', Server: '', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '421 connection refused from []', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 421, Error Number: 0x800CCC67.I have spoken to Virgin Media and after all their test concluded that it must be getting blocked by me security software. I use Norton 360. Would Norton allow incoming and block outgoing? If so how do I unblock it?

Answer:Outgoing email

It may be a simple fix, ensure that the tick is off under "My server requires authentication" in the account properties in OE. You will find this if you go to Tools/Accounts/Mail/Properties/Servers/Out going Server.

What happens when you try to send e-mails? Do any error messages appear, and if so what do they say? Do you have your own e-mail server, or do you use on from your ISP, website, or rent one from a provider?

I currently use Outlook for email and have Windows 7 operating system. Whenever I travel I can receive email fine but I cannot send email. The email would stay in my outbox until I got home and was on my home network. I have changed internet providers and this meant a new modem and router. Now I can't send email as it stays in my outbox. Is there a setting somewhere that I am overlooking?

Thank you for any assistance.

Hi Guys
For the last few days, I have been getting an email appear in the outbox of my MS Outlook - it is generally 68 bytes in size and outlook does not show any "to" "From" "subject" etc about it. I know I have not initiated it and I am the only user of the computer.
I have done an antivirus scan and scanned for malware in case it is a virus which has slipped through the security I have on the computer but they have shown all is ok.
I don't want to open it up to see what it is in case I regret it.
Can anyone offer any help to solve the problem its got me stumped.

I'm a third party to this issue, and I've got limited details available, but here is the general problem.

A friend of my wife is trying to email her. When my wife gets the email, it is just jibberish (looks like html, but doesn't display that way in the email client). This same friend can email me or others, and the email comes through just fine. If I look at the email send to my wife directly on the ISPs server it is indeed corrupted.

Looking at the email headers, I see that the friend is emailing me using "Charset = Windows-1252", while the email to my wife lists "Charset = Unicode". Suspect that may be the problem.

Also from the headers, it appears the friend is using Microsoft Mail. Is there somewhere in MM phone book where the outgoing encoding could have been inadvertently changed? Any tutorials that show how to change the outgoing encoding in Microsoft Mail for a specific contact?

When i send one email with an attachment or inserted pic to somebody outlook express sends about 24 to 50 emails or duplicates of it..!!!!When I send just a text mesage it works fine. basically it crashes the server or i get errors becaue it is going over the limit. Why would this be happening? I am currently backing up all my eamail messages and have run two virus scans (online and nortons) and zero viruses were found!!! Not sure what to do...please help me, as i can t email anyone until this is fixed...incoming mail i recieve normally (1 copy)...

Answer:outgoing email prob

Just what size is the attached picture?

OE has a setting that will split the attachment into smaller pieces, so they can be accepted by email systems with size restrictions.

But 50 splits would indicate that you are trying to send an unreasonable size of attachment?

From OE Help:

To send large messages

Many e-mail and news servers limit the size of the messages you can receive and send. Usually this limit is one megabyte (1 MB) per message, including all attached files.

With Outlook Express, you can send large messages or files to e-mail and news servers that have size limits, by breaking the messages into smaller ones. When the group of messages is received, the e-mail program combines them into one message.

On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
On either the Mail or News tab, click Properties.
On the Advanced tab, select the Break apart messages larger than x KB check box and then enter the maximum file size the server will allow.

HI I really hope someone here can help me after spending 2 days trawling the internet for answers!

I recently purchased a domain from 123 reg along with email address, I then had a web designer build me a website with wordpress and set me up an email account. However he explained he is only responsible for incoming mail which seems to work fine.

I cannot however send any outgoing mail from any server I try to connect, I have tried gmail, reg 123, outlook, the only thing that works is outlook web browser but this is very slow! I am try to connect via pop on outlook 2013 which is not working. I have tried every port possible but nothing seems to work.

I was also informed it may be my isp but I checked with command on my pc which showed no blocks to smtp gmail or others.

Please help!!!

Answer:Outgoing email smtp!!

You need to contact the company you bought the domain from and tell them your issues and maybe they can suggest a fix for you.

Don't know if this is a software or hardware (modem) problem and I'm not sure exactly when it started but I first noticed it shortly after an electrical storm about two weeks ago. The problem is I am able to receive but not send email. My outgoing messges appear in the send box and there is no bounce by the mailer daemon, but the the messages never arrive in the addressee's mailbox. There is no response to request for receipt. After reinstalling Outlook Express didn't solve the problem I installed Eudora. That, too, didn't help. My ISP has given up. Any suggestions?

Answer:Disappearing outgoing email

I'd almost rule out damage to the hardware, as it's common to all internet access, not just email. I'm assuming that your ISP also sponsors your email accounts. A quick check that I do to ensure that their mail server isn't causing me difficulties is sending an email from one of my accounts to another. This should succeed, since your client software is configured with the proper client login info etc. If it doesn't you have to make sure that the SMTP port is set to 25 and that the POP3 port is 110. However many ISPs change these to something different. My ISP uses 995 on the POP3, so if I used the well known port number, I wouldn't be receiving any email. I hope that helps.

I can send an email from Windows mail with no problem. But sending an email generated from Quickbooks which launches Windows mail fails everytime. This has worked for 2 years without a problem and I can not trace out the problem. This is the error info.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. I have two email accounts with different ISPs - one broadband (f2s) and one dialup (onetel). It used not to matter which ISP I had used to connect, I could still send and receive mail from both accounts, using Outlook Express . Since installing AVG, while I receive mail OK on both accounts, I have been unable to send a message from one account if I am connected via the other ISP. This is annoying, because I use the onetel account for all online shopping etc, keeping the f2s one scam-free for personal emails If I try to send an email from the onetel account when I am on f2s broadband (or vice versa) I get the message:"This is the AVG E-mail Scanner program.I'm sorry to have to inform you that the message returned below could not be delivered to one or more destinations.-------------------------------------------------------------------[email protected]: 5.7.1 ... Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed []"I have tried disabling AVG's check on outgoing mail but that doesn't make any difference. Does anyone know if this can be sorted, or do I have to live with it?

Answer:AVG stops outgoing email from different ISP

I don't understand why you are using Dail up when you have Broadband, I no longer use Dial up and have the lead disconnected for security reasons.I would have thought that you can access both accounts without any problem from the one connection. It is some time since I did that but one was with both Freeserve and Tiscalli but only ever used the one connection.

I was in the Slow Ring for quite awhile (more than one year), until one of the latest updates brought up an issue: in Outlook, the senders name (my name) was replaced by my email address, and I couldn't find a way to fix it (uninstalled Outlook, reinstalled Outlook, deleted account, setup account, everything I could think about). This happens only with my Gmail accounts, not with my Exchange or Live accounts.
Since I use mainly my Gmail address, as pretty much everyone -and I don't want to argue if indeed everyone or not, it's not the point-, I got out of the slow ring and went with stable releases.
Since three releases ago, the issue came again, in stable releases. It's been two months and still it hasn't been fixed.
Does anybody know a way to solve this? I'm seriously thinking of giving up and going back to Android. My phone updated last night, and the issue is still there.
Phone: Lumia 735
OS version: 10.0.14393.321
Outlook Mail version: 17.7369.40738
Thanks everyone!

Remove McAfee, it is horrible. But this is probably just experience talking. However, people don't need a virus to have access to your email. Change the password!

I've recently switched from AOL to an internet provider and had everything set up for me by someone else who is more computer savvy than I. However, now when I email someone it gives them my real name and not my email address as an identity. Not only is it extremely maddening to always have to remember to include a typed email address in my emails but I find it disturbing that every Tom, Dick, and Harry is privy to my real name without my choosing it. My question is "How do you change what Mirosoft Internet Explorer lists as the user name/identity for outgoing email messages?" I use whatever Internet Explorer comes with Windows 98. I appreciate whatever help you can provide. Thanks! Many kudos to all those who responded, my problem is solved so I can remain mysterious to all those I email! You guys are great! -Jamie

Answer:email using real name, not email address!

Bring up the email program which should be OutlookExpress. Once OutlookExpress is on the screen, click on Tools>Accounts. Now single left click on the email account that you want to change to highlight it and then click on Properties. Now in box labeled "Name", change it to what you want displayed to the receiver of the email and click on Apply. Then click on OK and then click on Close. Your done.

Question: Comcast Email

I just downloaded my new AVG anti virus software and now I can't forward email's. When I select either "forward", "reply" or "reply all", the only thing that comes up is "compose" with none of the email body shown.
I tried comcast support with absolutely no results. Please help a semi-senile old guy.

Answer:Comcast Email

Assuming you are using Comcast webmail for mail access: Did you scroll down the Compose box to see if the text is further down the page?A couple of things for you to try.Disable AVG. See if doing so resolves your issue. It will only be disabled for a few seconds. I'm skeptical that it is an AVG problem, but you never know. You could also forward it to yourself, at your Comcast address. When the mail comes in, does it have the missing email body in it?At this point, I want to direct you to the Comcast help forums.
