I am facing this major problem and I am desperate for a solution and I belive a few people are facing the same problem.

As many of you know that outlook 2007 was working perfectly with hotmail 2007 until sept 2009. After that Microsoft released a new version of connector that worked fine with vista and outlook 2007. However, the problem is still persisting for outlook 2007 on vista 64. I appreciate any help ...
Many thanks

I have a question about Outlook 2007 & hotmail. I am running Vista 32 bit Ultimate on my desktop & XP on my laptop. On the desktop when I set up a new account in Oulook 2007 from hotmail, all my folders in the hotmail account come into Outlook but they are empty. My inbox, sent and delete folders do work but all the ones I created in hotmail are empty. When I log into hotmail via the internet they are there and have archived emails in them. On my XP laptop all of the folders are there & have emails but I use Outlook 2003. One more piece of input I also have a account & all the folders created in that one come over to Outlook 2007 and have emails in them.

Don't know if this Vista,@hotmail, or Outlook 2007 related but any help/advice with this would be greatly appericated?

I've been running Outlook 2007 and having my Hotmail picked up by it, after running Outlook Connector. Until today. No email shows on starting Outlook. However if I go to I have email. I have checked account settings and can see no problems. I have closed the account in Outlook and then added it again, via Outlook Connector which will not pick up online account settings...
It's not the end of the world, I can always go on line to pick it up, but I use Outlook and it is much more convenient to have all my mail there.
Is there something I'm missing? Any help appreciated!

For the past week, since 8/18/2004, E-mail that I send to Yahoo and Hotmail via Outlook Express 6, is being delayed. It is only certain addresses. It is taking up to 2 days and occassionally there is a mail failure. Hotmail sends me messages that the mail is being delayed and not to resend, but the recipient never receives it. My E-mail address is not blocked. When I send via internet, all is well. I have no other problems sending or recieivng to others.

Any thoughts?

I am running Windows XP Professional 2002 and Microsoft Office 2003 (Outlook 2003)

I was using the older version of Outlook Connector to access my Hotmail account, but recently it said that I needed to upgrade it. The automatic upgrade did not work properly, so I manually removed/un-installed the old Outlook Connector, removed the hotmail account within Outlook, and I also removed a bunch of hotmail.ost files hanging around that seemed to have no data in them (in C:\Documents and Settings\Default\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook) - I believe they were formed when I was going through all the problems with the supposedly automatic upgrade).

Then I manually downloaded and installed the newest version 14.1 for 32-bit and through the Outlook connector interface within Outlook, re-added the Hotmail account. But now when I try to click on any Hotmail folder, the following error message appears:
"Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook could not access the specified folder location."

So I feel like I am back at square one and not sure how to get the Connector to start connecting. Thanks for any advice.

Answer:Solved: Outlook Hotmail Connector unable to connect to Hotmail

Amazingly, I finally found the answer in another forum, of course only after I went to the trouble of making my earlier posting.

SETTING THE HOTMAIL ACCOUNT AS THE DEFAULT EMAIL ACCOUNT solves the accessing problem. I hope this can help some other poor souls out there!

I know some people have multiple hotmail accounts that they want to sync up with Outlook, and have no idea what to do in that case, but if you only have one account, this seems to work.

Answer:Cannot log into Outlook 2007 using hotmail connector

First of all check your login details (Password etc.) work on line: -

Then delete all the accounts in Outlook.

Now use the connector add-in to load the hotmail account back into Outlook. OK?

If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be great. I've been trying to get Outlook 2007 to work properly with my Hotmail account, and it doesn't seem to be able to keep it in sync very well. I'm using the Beta 2 Outlook Connector, which is supposed to have free Calendar sync, but it only seems to sync with the Calendar every once in a while, and when that works, the Mail actually syncs properly. When it doesn't work, the Mail doesn't sync either, even though Outlook is reporting successful connections to both Mail and Contacts.

Anyone know anything about this??

Hi folks. Tearing my hair out with this and it?s driving me nuts.

I have just recently bought a new windows 8 laptop (now windows 8.1) 64 bit. Have installed office 2007 Standard (32 bit) on it and now I want to configure outlook 2007 to send/receive my account (or is that now Either way I have scoured the internet and just cannot get it to work. I could choose pop3 but then my mail accounts won?t be synchronised across all my computers so I wanted to go the imap account. If I do this and use the settings I can receive email just find but it will not send.

I?ve tried the outlook connector and that makes no difference whatsoever. I?ve tried pop3 and that doesn?t work I?ve also tried imap and that doesn?t work either. I?m blind and know what I?m doing with computers and outlook 2007 is by far the most accessible program for me to access my email through. What am I doing wrong and how can I sort this?

Many Thanks.

Answer:Receiving hotmail in outlook 2007

It does not matter if you use POP3 or IMAP because when you send mail it depends on the smtp settings. I would recommend you use IMAP. It would be much better to use Outlook Connector that uses custom ActiveSync which should work.

Have you tried to uninstall and install the connector?

Remember Hotmail address will be the same if I say Email which includes the domains,, and other country ones as well.

Try the connecter with this link:
Use an account in Outlook - Outlook -

The other thing is this link:
Set up an email app with - Microsoft Windows Help

The answer you might be looking to is the correct SMTP setting:

Outgoing (SMTP) Server
Server address: Port: 25 (or 587 if 25 is blocked) Authentication: Yes Encrypted Connection: TLS User name: Your email address Password: Your password

Hey guys,
i heard that outlook 2007 does not support free hotmail users.
is that true?
if it is, is there anyway to got around it?

Answer:Setting Hotmail For Outlook 2007

It was probably 12 months ago now that hotmail made the decision to cease support for outlook and outlook express and free email accounts. Their reason for this was to help eliminate spam email accounts. The only way around this is to pay the fee and then your account can be set as a POP3 through outlook or express. Oddly enough my hotmail account of 5 yrs still works as a freebie, but one of 3 yrs does not, so they may have had some sort of selection criteria in mind when doing all this.

I have been using Office 2007 for a while with no trouble. I am using XP Pro with outlook connector for my hotmail account.
Last night I found that my computer restarted unexpectedly and thereafter I can't see my Hotmail inbox in Outlook.
At the top of the empty window the message says: "There are no items to show in this view."; When changing the current view to something else such as Unread messages in this folder - the line at the top says: "Cannot display information. There is either a problem connecting to the server or an error occurred. Try starting Microsoft Office Outlook again."
At the same time I get an error window: "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart Outlook"

Obviously I have restarted outlook and even restarted the computer several times - to no avail.
My pst file is local and I can see all local folders normally. Also I have no problem managing my hotmail account online, using explorer.

By the way, I looked up this error message online and found that there is an abundance of problems that can cause this error message and various MS hotfixes (I tried one that proved irrelevant).
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the same problem on both my Windows Vista machines running Outlook 2007.

Periodically, a popup displays asking me to log in to our Hotmail accounts. The id's and passwords are already in the fill in boxes.
When I hit OK the popup displays again.

This usually takes 2 or 3 attempts before it stops.. Sometimes, it never comes back and I have to delete the accounts and recreate them to fix the problem.

This problem does not occur on our other accounts. Nor does it happen on my Windows XP machine running Outlook 2003.

Has anyone else had this problem? Did you find a solution?

I have been using BT for my emails for years now and never had problems using their for web-mail and outlook 2007 on my computer. Following BT not using yahoo anymore and now just using BT Mail I installed the Hotmail Outlook Connector, so I can use as web-email. I created a Mapi account in Outlook and copied all my contacts into it. I also created some additional send/receive e-mail addresses in, they are BT sub accounts. They are showing up in both and outlook 2007.
The problem I have that and outlook 2007 will not send emails.

Answer:Outlook 2007 not sending mail after installing the Hotmail Outlook Connector

If you have installed Outlook connector then you are not using via webmail but are using Outlook 2007 for it. Webmail is through your browser. You should not be having any problems sending via the browser. You can also log into BT using the browser and send.
But coming back to your original problem I'm not sure why you set up a MAPI account or how you did it and the problem may well lie there. Suggest that you delete the hotmail/outlook account in Outlook and start again. You can back up the received emails first. The account should be an Exchange Activesync type.

Hi everyone

I tried to use Outlook 2002 to access my hotmail. I used the POP3 settings, got it to work, and hit send/receive. Now none of my emails from my Inbox are in my hotmail account when I use my web login. Why did it do this and how do I reverse it? I tried to find some answers on the Microsoft site but they give pretty generic answers there. The answers I've got here in the past were much better.

Thanks in advance,

Answer:Hotmail + Outlook 2002 = no emails at Hotmail site

Try going to Tools > Email Accounts > View or change existing accounts > Select your account and click Change > Click More Settings > Advanced tab. From here there should be a check box that allows you to set whether you want your emails to be left on the server.

Hi Guys

I have an old hotmail account so I can use programs such as outlook to view my e-mails which is what I have been doing for many years though Outllook 2002,2003 and now 2007. Everything has been fine up until this week when I started getting a 0x800cccf0 error. I have looked this up on google and it tells me that it happens when you have more than one hotmail account I don't and that is only for outlook 2002. I have attached a jpeg so you can see the error message in full. I don't know if it is a hotmail problem or not my NTL account is working fine. The PW is correct as I can log onto the webmail.

Hi- I have just attempted to link Outlook 2007 and Live Hotmail and the installation has appeared to run without any hitches (as a matter of fact, due to my issues, i tried it several times and get the same results). I then attempted to send both a new message and an Outlook Calendar "acceptance" and both messgs remain in the outlook outbox. The send/receive button shows that there is a Hotmail error where the serve responds "forbidden" and to check the passwor. I am 100% sure that both the address and password are correct. I went into my hotmail account and thre doesn't appear to be any settings that "allow" this exchange so I am stumped. What's up?

Cannot connect to hotmail ( via Outlook 2007 since Saturday 1st Feb. Message says server not connected. (Normally uses Outlook Connector to connect). Hotmail/ accounts are setup as MAPI.

All other non-hotmail/ accounts in Outlook 2007 working OK.

Hotmail/ accounts are accessible via a webserver, and even accessible via Outlook 2007 if setup as POP3/IMAP.

I have many subfolders in the Hotmail/ accounts that are automatically syncronised when connected, and can be accessed when offline, but are also accessible when accessing Hotmail/ via the web from another PC. But when setup as POP3/IMAP accounts only the Inbox folder is synchronsed with Outlook 2007.

Can anyone help as to why Outlook 2007 is not connecting to the Hotmail/ accounts anymore via the Outlook Connector? Alternatively, can all the other folders synchronise automatically if I set the Hotmail/ accounts as POP3/IMAP?

Thanks. Any help appreciated.

I've put my Hotmail account through my Outlook 2007 but it shows up as a separate account instead of in the Personal Folders, fair enough but I can't edit the sub-folders (or create them) in that account so I've moved all the sub-folders to the Personal Folders.

So what I've done is set up a rule from my Hotmail account inbox which should forward any e-mails to my inbox in my Personal Folders account but I've just sent an e-mail from my work e-mail address and it pops up in my Hotmail account and doesn't forward to my inbox in the Personal Folders account.

Hopefully that makes sense, can anyone help with why it's not forwarding or any better solutions of what I'm trying to do.

The rule is:

Apply this rule after the message arrives
through the [email protected] account
and on this machine only
move it to the inbox folder

I am using

Vista Ultimate - All Updates

Outlook 2007 - All Updates

and Outlook Connector - Current Download

and a Hotmail Plus email account

In the past I had no problems accessing my multiple hotmail email account in Outlook, with the help of Outlook Connector.

Now I am having lots os Issues, the biggest one is that there are Constant Errors trying to Sync my Hotmail account with Outlook.

When I use Outlook Connector, the Calender willnot sync. Also, once I have made changes to the inbox, ie deleted emails, sometimes they reapear next time I open Outlook.

I called Microsoft last night and they told me I don't need to use Outlook Connector to get my emails, just set up email as http and enter all the settings.

This seems to work ok, but when I send messages, they don't stay in my hotmail sent folder, but go right to my personal folder sent folder. I can live with this. Also the Live Calender is not visible, also not a problem, I don't use it. I use the Outlook Calender.

Problem is, that Outlook tries to install Outlook Connector the next time I open Outlook.

Also, without Outlook Connector, it will not download all the emails in the inbox automatically, unless I click on each one.

Hi, if a machine is using Outlook Connector with Outlook 2007 to access a Hotmail account, is it possible that an email coming in to Hotmail can then be opened and replied to from within Outlook 2007 and then not appear again in the Hotmail account. (i.e. can the incoming and reply emails be deleted in Outlook 2007 without ever appearing in Hotmail again?)

I understand that by installing Outlook Connector I can download personal folders. But I dont want to install Connector as I see people have many problems with that.

I would appreciate if anyone can guide me as how can I download personal folders without installing connector.

I have cable, voice/phone and internet with Comcast. Do not know if I need to post three different threads or if they are connected or what. I have a Vista Business Pro 6.0 desktop computer. 2 gig ram. When I click on ie on desktop it takes me to my homepage of I stay logged in but email indicator was not working. Clicked on mail button and got error box: "you are not logged in as administrator on this computer. Try logging out and back in." I rebooted and still didn't work. Contacted Comcast and they said to not make them my homepage and put link in address bar instead. I put as my homepage. When it went to that, the whole page froze! Did task manager and shut it down. It keeps happening. Now, I cannot check either comcast or hotmail email!

So, I changed my homepage to I can check mail there but still cannot at comcast or hotmail! Hotmail still freezes! I have cleared cache and cookies dailly. I also since got sp2 for Microsoft Office 2007, cannot get Outlook Express to work. Get error box stating: "cannot open outlook." I have gone into accounts for can open it up from start-programs-and my comcast addy is there. But, I cannot open it up if I click a link to email. Get the error message. What do I do about hotmail mail, which I've had since 1998 and outlook? Should I uninstall sp2 for microsoft office? It worked before the upgrade. Thanks.

I have a private domain email address that is linked to my hotmail account, so both emails to both addresses are recieved in the same inbox - but i want the private domain to be what is viewed as the 'from adress' through outlook?

when i use outlook the 'from' address is my hotmail one.

and when i use hotmail the 'from' address is from my 'private domain' on behalf of 'hotmail address'

I want the private domain set up in outlook, but cant find the options to have that, and link it to the already set up hotmail account.

I run Outlook 2007 Academic version, and mircosoft outlook connector.

I removed Outlook Hotmail Connector because I considered it bloatware. I don't use Hotmail. I use a hybrid system involving Outlook for my computer and Gmail for my Andriod phone and that is working fine.

After removing Connector, I kept getting a message from Outlook about installing the "upgrade" Hotmail Connector. As I was having the red x problem with graphic images not appearing in my Outlook emails, in despair I allowed it to load. The real fix came through as SP2 after I repaired Windows Update and got it working again.

So, is it bloatware? Is there a downside to removing it? Is it benign enough to just leave it alone? What would you do?

Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

I have several email accounts for different purposes (two gmail, three blueyonder and a Hotmail account) and access all of them through Outlook 2007. I have created rules in Outlook so that incoming emails are moved to the appropriate mail folders that I have set up for each account. However, although emails addressed to the gmail and blueyonder accounts move to the correct folders as desired, nothing happens with Hotmail. I can neither create a copy of the email in the specified folder or move the original incoming message to it.Can anyone tell me why please?

Is there nobody out there who knows how to make an Outlook Rule work for Hotmail?

Since I upgraded my OS from Win Me to XP Home, I have had some issues with Outlook Express 6. I have a home email account that works properly thru there sending & receiving. I also have 3 hotmail addy's that I run thru there as well.

The problem is with the hotmail addresses only. It checks and downloads mail properly for these accounts, but will not send mail using these accounts. This has only started since upgrading to XP. I have deleted the accounts and added them again and it hasn't helped.

This is the error I get all the time.....

The server does not support the required HTTP methods. Account: 'aKa_Insomniac', Server: '', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Method Not Allowed', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC35
I had to reinstall my Norton personal Firewall/Systemworks with the XP upgrade, but the internet access control shows Outlook Express has permission to access the net. And once again, it downloads my hotmail incoming mail properly. Only outgoing mail is the problem.

Any help given would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

Hotmail through OE can be quite temperemental at times, you may need to set the different accounts up in separate identities.

Hi, I have created an Outlook email signature image with two hyperlinks in it. I added an image map to the htm file to make this possible, and the signature and links display and work fine in Outlook, Windows Live Mail and when I check my hotmail account on my iPhone. However, on my PC, hotmail and gmail treat the signature differently; my old signature was an image with just one hyperlink, but this hyperlink appeared to be removed by hotmail and gmail - now, with the image map I have added, the hyperlinks exist in hotmail and gmail, but they seem to be displacing the image, pushing it it the right or downwards. Is there a way to allow hotmail and gmail to display the signature properly, so that the hyperlinks lay on top of the image?

Each hyperlink is 310x183px, signature is 621x183px

Answer:Outlook Express stopped working with Hotmail

Sounds as if there is nothing you can do about this problem as it is a server problem, i.e. it is somewhere at your ISP.
Although I've not heard of it for some time, some ISPs blocked Hotmail when it was being used for Spam and a huge throughput was seen.

I can’t access my HOTMAIL accounts- HOTMAIL support?

I learned about Microsoft’s new policy of not allowing you to send email from Hotmail using it’s own products Outlook and Outlook Express unless you are paying an additional fee, when I replied to a (Hotmail) email while using OE. After sending my reply I received an error message that OE could not access the account. It then proceeded to DELETE all my previous email message in outlook express for this account.

A web search then led me discover that this account was one of those now requiring payment of a fee to send mail using Outlook or OE instead of logging on to the website. (They are doing this in stages so some HOTMAIL accounts still allow the free use and access with Outlook/OE.)

I then tried to sign on to my account using another Microsoft product Internet Explorer- initially everything looked unchanged,

1. however after typing in my name and password instead of opening my account

2. I got a new screen of “scrambled letters” designed to prove that a person and not a machine is accessing my account.

3. I type in these scrambled letters and one of two things happens:

a. (Usually) I receive yet another screen of scrambled letters to input

b. (Occasionally) I receive the “sign in screen” again EITHER WAY

4. Whichever screen I receive- whether I input scrambled letters yet again or insert my name and password the process repeats itself and one of two things happens:

a. (Usually) I receive yet anothe... Read more

Answer:I can't acces my HOTMAIL account- Hotmail Tech Support?

I've never used Outlook or Outlook Express in any form my self, so I can only offer some limited suggestions for sorting this out.

First: have you tried deleting all cookies and accessing the account? If using XP/2k -- it may even be helpful to try creating a new User Profile and logging in under that, this will ensure you have an entirely new web cache, index.dat and cookie folder.

Try accessing the account from another computer and see if you get in that way.

I am having some trouble with my Yahoo and Hotmail accounts. I can open mail in Yahoo but can't delete it. I can't even open any email at Hotmail. It seems when I click on a button online the browser doesn't go anywhere. I tried various things suggested in this forum but nothing seems to work. Please help me. My computer is working great now that you guys helped me last week. I am extremely grateful!!

Answer:Can't delete Hotmail or Yahoo mail and can't open Hotmail

Lots of people have problems with Yahoo and Hotmail accounts. The most common causes seem to be cookie rejection, incorrect firewall settings, and/or an overly aggressive and intrusive firewall like ZoneAlarm that does a lot of things without asking.

Are you able to access the email accounts from a computer at another location? (other house, library, etc.)

Did you recently change any settings in a program or install a new program or a new version of or update for one, especially some security program (firewall, antivirus, etc.)?

Do you have a router?

Is your trash folder overfull?

I have a Windows 10 phone (Verizon 735), a couple of Windows 10 laptops, and annual Office 365 subscription. Just a home user and have all my Contacts/Calendar in Outlook, but don't have an Outlook email account....just AOL accounts which I get via Imap/Pop.
In past, I setup to sync across laptops and phone but sketchy at best. Just got notifications to "Re-connect Outlook 2016 ". Deleted old Outlook account and added new account....tried no hotmail this time. Outlook came up great...only 1 calendar!!!!! However nothing syncing with phone. Assume still need hotmail?
All I want to do is have my Outlook contacts and calendar synced with all my devices. Assume this should be very basic as guess all this is on "My Cloud"? Also, should be the minimum if Windows phone has any chance. Appreciate any help.

I had several hotmail accounts that I could view in the Nokia 930 windows 10.
I have not installed any apps (however there wsa an app that I do not know what was doing there with the text showing @\user\microsoft\windowsapp\ etc. the text was longer an I was not able to remove the app)
However the problem of the emails did not arise after the above app was mysteriously installed but happened before.
It looked like that one specific account was inexplicably confused with another email account...e when I was tapping on one Icon app of hotmail account I would actually read the email of another account.
My main Email setup account within windows phone setup had disappeared and when trying to re added it was saying that it was already setup.
Therefore I could only but hard rest my phone. I have hard reset it four times now and every time I setup the account with my main Email account everything is fine but when I add another email account it all goes wrong with similar variations of the above issue and now I even have an error message saying the account the I added
Now I am getting has the settings out of date. I tap FIX button there is some activity but nothing happens.
How can I fix this!!!

I'm a Hotmail Plus (is that the right term?) user so I'm paying for expanded service. It's been fine for nearly a year now, but recently, my connection has been shaky - sometimes connecting, sometimes not.

Now, I can't connect at all and I get the following errors:

Task 'Hotmail: Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported error (0x800CCC0D) : 'The server could not be found.'

Task 'Hotmail: Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported error (0x800CCC19) : 'A timeout occurred while communicating with the server.'

I did some trial and error work and realized that the problem is with the URL I'm using:

This address must be incorrect because when I put in "" instead, it allowed me to get through but only once. That means that the issue is not with my Outlook.

Is there another address and is anyone else having issues with the above address?

What else could be wrong?

I mainly use Outlook 2000, however, in order to get a number of Hotmail messages onto my computer's HD, i synchronised Outlook Express with Hotmail. I now have messages from a folder I have on Hotmail on my hard drive too.

A search revealed that this folder (and presumably all messages in it) is stored under C:\Windows\Application Data\Identities\{00B31680-0793-11D3-A398-C0610D677E39}\Microsoft\Outlook Express.

I copied the .dbx file named hotmail - [folder name].dbx to my desktop. I went in to Outlook 2000 file>import blah blah blah, but it wont let me import .dbx files there anyway to get my messages from hotmail from this specific folder into outlook 2000? i no longer need the folder in hotmail and will just delete it as soon as i have a permanent copy on my hard drive in outlook 2000. im assuming that since the dbx file is on my hard disk with all the messages (which i can read offline in outlook express) that i wont need to set up outlook 2000 for hotmail synchronisation ?!?

Answer:Outlook 97 & Hotmail

Hi Fergus76

Unfortunately, Outlook 97 does not support Hotmail accounts, Outlook 2000 can be set up to receive but not send Hotmail.

Hotmail does not use Pop3, SMTP as it is web based mail.

You will need to use Outlook Express for your Hotmail account.
Tools>New Account Signup>Hotmail.

Take a look at this thread for more information on how Hotmail is accessed by Outlook 2000.

Outlook 2002 will support Hotmail

Is there any difference between Outlook and WLM? They appear to me to be the same.

Answer:WLM--vs Outlook--vs Hotmail Web

Windows Live Mail can allow you to save your messages and contacts on your PC. It supports POP3, IMAP, and Hotmail access. Unlike Outlook Express for XP, or Windows Mail for Vista, WLM includes Hotmail access.

There are many email client programs in use on PCs. Windows 7 can support a couple provided by Microsoft: the paid software known as "Microsoft Outlook" and the free software known as "Windows Live Mail". Outlook requires an extra free tool in order to work with Hotmail: Microsoft Office Outlook Hotmail Connector overview - Outlook -

I've not been taking much note of emails regarding hotmail because mine was fine, yes, was. Now I am not so sure. I have been using hotmail via outlook as my main email for about a year now. I am still on 8.1 awaiting 10, so was wondering if it will working properly in 10. Anyway .....................

Almost everytime I open outlook to check my main email address, I get a "Sorry Outlook did not open properly and will close, please click on refresh to try again" and then something about it being their fault or similar words. I ignore it and my emails are still working. But quite a few times the programme has frozen for a few seconds then continues as if nothing has happened. I am considering going back to gmail as my main email so will be checking out the 'how to divert hotmail to gmail' thread a lot closer than before, as I deemed it unnecessary at the time.

As I am 4 weeks away from win 10, should I wait until then, will hotmail/outlook be any better in 10 than 8, as it seems to be a bit of a disaster in 8.1.

Answer:Hotmail via Outlook

I have Outlook 2003, which is old/obsolete, but it still works OK in Win 8.1. I haven't installed it in my Win 10 installation as I need to replace it with something else. I did try the Hotmail add on for Outlook 2003 one time but wanted to keep my Hotmail account separate from my ISP's e-mail account so I uninstalled it.

I've been using Outlook on the old computer for years to access Hotmail and my regular earthlink account. Just got a new computer and I can't for the life of me get it going correctly.

I've got it set up under view with Folder List, Preview Pane and Auto Preview. When I click on hotmail, inbox, it sort of comes up in the upper right corner, then the address bar goes to some redirect and flips back to my regular email, THEN finally hotmail opens up. It works but it's the most irritating thing you can imagine! Any folder under Hotmail, goes thru this redirect process.

I've tried looking at the old settings/old computer vs this one, and can't see any difference. I have XP pro on this computer, Home on the old one, but it's the exact same software for MS Office Outlook.

Another thing, how the heck do I get the email to sort by date instead of one big list?

Thanks ALL!!!

I currently have a hotmail account set up. People have told me I should use outlook for email instead. How can I have my hotmail account work with Outlook?

Answer:hotmail and outlook

take a look at Adding webmail account to Outlook and decide for yourself whether it is worth the hassle.
BTW, I recommend loads of things, but if what you are currently doing works for you, why change?

I cannot seem to get Outlook XP to check the mail on my 2 hotmail accounts. I have previously used outlook express 6 and all was well. I would like to take advantage of outlook xp but cannot understand what is wrong. If i put the hotmail accounts in separately they work. But as soon as i try to have both accounts in the email accounts section the last one to be added always says it cannot access the server because of a time out.Any ideas ?

Answer:Outlook XP and Hotmail

How did you manage to get Outlook to check even one hotmail account? My understand, and even the Microsoft Tech Support staff say Outlook is not able to check hotmail accounts, only Outlook Express can do it.

Question: Hotmail/Outlook

I got a quick question for you all' I had a friend call to tell me about how Microsoft is getting him to do this 2-step verification code. And from what I gathered he doesn't have much of a choice but to do it. He asked around and what he found is that he was the only one in his group that this is happening to.

From what I see/know Microsoft is switching over/have switched over to Outlook, and I forget weather I had to do this. Is this a standard process that Outlook is doing for all it's users or is it some kind of malware or hacker trying to get a hold of his account?

I shall add I found this which sort of sounded what he was talking about, with having a "date" to do this verification code

Not sure if this helps:

Question: Hotmail to outlook

I have tried to set up my outlook account so I can access my Hotmail through it. No matter how i try it just will not work, any pearls of wisdom out there.

Answer:Hotmail to outlook

Hi. . .

You may want to try Microsoft Live Mail as an alternative as it is thought to be the most likely replacement for Outlook in the near future. ..

I have Hotmail, Live Mail, Google among others all wrapped up in it.

Unless you use Live Messenger, don't install it.

Regards. . .

(i can't find the right category for this question) microsoft outlook mail has taken over hotmail it seems. it has made my hotmail stuff disappear! contacts and emails and whatever was in my folders and deleted and sent mail etc. anybody know how i can get them back? grrr, very annoying! i'd only recently started re-using my hotmail account and their security questions for 'recovering' your stuff were too hard as i had to give info /email addresses of who i had recently emailed. (don't know! can't remember as they were new contacts).:(

Answer:Outlook . com took my hotmail!

Hotmail has been discontinued, replaced by Outlook.comAll Hotmail users were sent an email about this some time ago, explaining what to do to get your Hotmail data transferred over to Outlook.comIf you didn't follow the instructions described in the email, all your Hotmail messages and contacts would be deleted. They cannot be recovered. You can restore your Contacts if you kept them backed up on your computer, if you didn't you will have to try and remember them.message edited by phil22

Question: Outlook (Hotmail)

Everytime I click on the Outlook (Hotmail) icon in the Bookmarks Toolbar, the login page stalls/lags for a good few seconds before opening. I've tried deleting the bookmark and re-bookmarking the website without change.

Occasionally I receive a flag (pic attached), "Unresponsive Script". I always click on, "stop script". Doesn't seem to make a difference either.

Is there something I can do to correct the Outlook (Hotmail) site from being "unresponsive"?

Answer:Outlook (Hotmail)

Question: Outlook Hotmail

When I attempt to close my Outlook Hotmail email page, I get the message:
"To send and receive email from your other account in, add you other account as Send only then sign in to the other account and set up email forwarding."

And then, when I try to sign out, I don't get the small box in the upper right of screen (to sign out), I get an elongated (horizontal) box where I can just about see where it says "sign out."
What is happening? Has anyone else experienced the same thing? and how to correct?
