Solved: Neither Firefox or IE will load care2.com

Question: Solved: Neither Firefox or IE will load care2.com

Does anyone know what the problem might be? I get mail from this web site (it is an environmental site) so apparently I have been there before, but I always get the "Unable to connect...can't establish a connection..." message. Always, whether I use Firefox or IE. I have tried many times over the last few months - the site cannot be that busy every single time I try to visit it, night or day, can it? I have not had this problem with any other site on the internet. I have run all my security software several times and nothing ever shows up. Could I inadvertently have blocked this web site in either Zone Alarm or AVG? If so, how?

Any suggestions very much appreciated. Thank you, Cheryl

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Solved: Neither Firefox or IE will load care2.com

That site works fine for me using Opera and Firefox so the problems must be with a setting on your computer.

One possibility is that the URL for www.care2.com has somehow got added to your Hosts file, assuming you have one. If you use Spybot you definitely will have a Hosts file and you can check by doing a 'Find Files' search for 'hosts'. Mine is 68KB and I used Wordpad to open it.

If you find a Hosts file I'm afraid you will have to scroll down it and look for the care.com URL and, if you find it, delete it, reboot and try to access the site again. I know this has worked at least once for someone that had problems accessing only one site, so it might just help you as well.

If it doesn't help it will have eliminated one possibility and 'bumped' your post back to the top!

Hi ther,

I use a mozilla firefox as a browser and Care2 - largest online community for healthy and green living, human rights and animal welfare. for emails. I have a problem to reply in care2.com. Every time I reply new blank page would open.
How can I fix it?

Thank you

J.
I have windows 7.

Thank you

J.

Answer:care2.com in mozilla firefox problem

This could be a setting by a security program or something like a hosts file manager blocking this with an entry in your hosts file. This is normally C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts <---- this file has no extension. You may need to enable hidden files and folders in Explorer to see it.

To change it, first uncheck the read-only properties on the file, open it in Notepad and place a ";" at the beginning of all lines containing care2.com entries. Close Notepad, it should auto-save, if you get a Save as box, ensure the read only properties of the file are unchecked.

Once saved successfully, reset the read only properties for the hosts file.

I run both IE 8 and Firefox on my Dell Dimension system. I'm having problems now with both browsers taking forever to load. This may be a virus or network problem. IE 8 just loaded now after 15 minutes (exactly - I timed it).

Details:
- Once it's loaded once, both browsers load in normal amounts of time.
- I haven't downloaded any new add-ons lately unless one browser or the other installed one in the background.
- The problem just started today after a reboot.
- I've also noticed that my network icon in the taskbar doesn't show up anymore when I first boot but by the time IE opens, it has showed up.
- Using ipconfig, I did determine that I am on the network and connected immediately after boot up (router also shows me connected immediately).
- I've tried running IE from the command line with iexplore.exe -extoff. It didn't make any difference. I don't know if this works with IE 8 though.
- When I click to open either web browser, the process shows up right away in Task Manager and remains.
- I have all the latest updates to both browsers that I know of.
- I've run a complete system scan with McAfee (fully updated as of today.)

Now I've run out of ideas on what to try. I appreciate any help!

Thanks!
Alec

Im currently running windows xp home edition 2002 sp3 pentium 4, approx 3 ghz. My computer runs/starts normal and as usual when viewing files or playing games. HOWEVER, whenever i open IE or Firefox the cpu immedietely jumps to 100% and takes 40 seconds to load. Though once the browser is loaded, internet browsing speed is as normal. I recently had problems with Jushed.exe and CFPupdate.exe taking 100% cpu and i removed comodo firewall and took care of the java update problem. Im thinking there was a possiblity it was conflicting with my firewall, but i removed it and the problem persists. What i find unusual is that BOTH browsers load very slowly and use all CPU. One guy suggested to remove any entries in Hijack this with BHO in front of them.... Any help would be greatly appreciated thank. (hope i gave enough info)

Turned on PC this morn and Firefox refused to load.
My hard drive clicked/clunked 3-5 times then I received the CrashReporter dialog.
While it was trying to load all other windows and functions would not respond.
I updated, rebooted, scanned drive, defragged and rebooted again. Still not loading.

This is where it gets strange.
All over programs work. It seems to be just browsers functioning incorrectly.

Safari had similar issues.
Chrome clunks and clicks then eventually loads.
IE works first time! I hate IE.

I wondered could it be a firewall conflict? I use zonealarm free.

Please help.

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this question in but here goes anyway...

I've been having problems accessing certain websites the last week and a half. Prior to this I haven't had any problems accessing the sites. I tried in both firefox and IE and both show a connection time out whenever I try to access the sites. I have cleared my Windows DNS cache and checked my firewalls and I still can't get access to the websites, specifically http://pitas.com, http://eat.pizzahuthawaii.com, http://zshare.net .

I am able to get into http://megaupload.com but whenever I try to download a file from there it gives me a timeout error. Also when I try to load google by google.com, it takes forever to load up the website.

The only firewall program that I'm running is windows firewall. I have the current Firefox 2.0.0.12 and my antivirus is McAffee but it doesn't contain a firewall. I am able to access all of these sites from other computers (at work) but not at home.

Does anyone have an idea as to what might be happening and can help me?

When I run IE I get the error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" - no matter what webpage I am trying to access. I have no trouble with Firefox though. I used to be able to use IE but I am not sure when exactly it stopped working (since I so rarely use it). I have tried downloading the newest version of IE with no success.
I have Comcast internet service, TrendMicro PC-Illin Security software (firewall/virus protection), and am running on an eMachine computer running WinXp Home Edition, Service Pack 2. Hello, I am curethritis running Windows 8 On a 6-month old Toshiba Satellite. Everything was fine until two days ago when After a Firefox update the browser stopped loading any websites. Thinking something went wrong with the update I uninstalled Firefox, and opened IE to download it again. This is when I realized IE was having the same issue.

To clarify, my wifi connection is fine. Outlook and other web-based programs are working fine. I pinged Google.com through Command Prompt, and the results indicate a good connection to the Internet (average response 17ms). Also, dropbox is updating without any problem.

As soon as I am able to load and run TSG SysInfo I will post the results.

Answer:Solved: Firefox and IE will not load websites

Could be a firewall or security suite blocking your browsers. Or may need the following ...

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista and 7 and 8.

Start - All Programs - Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt. [For Windows 8: <Windows Logo> + x - Command Prompt(Admin)]

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

Hi I am a firefox user For the last couple of days I can't get it to load. I deleted Reminderfox about that time and installed Essential IPIM (Free Version) in its place. Answer:Solved: Firefox wont load

This probably messed up your firefox profile, which in turn could be why firefox will not load. Read through this link here to set up a new profile to see if that works.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

Let us know how it goes ; )

EDIT : Just remembered, before you do that see if it firefox boots up with add-ons disabled, to do this start hold down the shift key while starting Firefox, and see if it runs if it does try disabling add-ons in safe mode then re-enable one at a time until you find the one that is causing the issue, then remove it.

Friday night I ran the online version of nod32. Because it installs an active X component I had to use Internet Explorer. Firefox has been my default browser for years. While running nod32 I was aware something was not quite right because an action that should've opened Firefox opened IE. Afterwards I rebooted and everything seemed to be fine.

This morning Firefox will not open. For an instant an icon appears as it normally does while Firefox is loading but it quickly goes away. Using IE I downloaded another copy of Firefox and installed it with the same result. As a test I downloaded Opera and it runs fine.

Where should I've been looking for some setting that is interfering with Firefox?

Hello

I've run into a very weird problem with FireFox. It won't load any images all of a sudden.

I was browsing along, everything was fine, then the page refreshed itself, and all the images were gone (I was on TSF).

Everything works in IE (which is weird cause it's usually the other way round). I'm using version 2.0.0.11 (updated itself today) though the problem start just before the new version installed itself.

Anyone know what's going on?

Recently, I've installed the Windows Service Pack 3 for Windows XP. May or may not be the problem, but ever since, Firefox has not worked properly. It will not load pages and results in the "Network Timeout" error page. What is strange is that it does load my school email account which is held server side at the university. I am currently on a VPN network, but have had no problems with firefox in the past. Also, IE works properly, but Firefox refuses to load anything but my server side email account. I do not have a firewall on my computer and I have turned off windows firewall to no avail.

I have already deleted my profile for firefox and uninstalled/reinstalled and it did not help at all.

As of 5/22/08, my firefox won't completely load. Also, when I click on 'Bookmarks', it won't completely load. First of all let's check you have no extension issues causing your problems. Start Firefox in Safe Mode (from Start > Programs) and if it loads normally and your bookmark access is trouble free then I'd suggest it was an extension problem. If so, disable all your extensions (while in Safe Mode) and close Firefox. Re-open Firefox normally and enable your extensions 1 or 2 at a time (then close and re-open Firefox) to find the culprit(s).

Answer:Solved: Websites no longer load in IE or Firefox

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

Please print these instructions for reference, as you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from Here or Here.

Note: You will need to run this tool while having an Internet Connection. The tool will download other files while running.

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
If your firewall gives an alert, (because this tool will download an additional files from the internet), please don't let your firewall block it, but allow it instead.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads a text file will open (report.txt).
Please post the C:\fixwareout\report.txt ), along with a new HijackThis log into this thread.

I just downloaded Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6 and I can't get any pages to load PERIOD!

Everything worked fine before I made the upgrade - and I even tried IE, and everything seemed to be working there, so the problem has to be with Firefox.

I'm getting really pissed off. Everytime I install an update with Firefox, I encounter some weird problem.

I even tried uninstalling this and then installing it directly from the homepage, and still the same problem. I can't get any page to load.

Howdy Ya'll Being on dialup, I've done all I can to make using the internet as efficient as possible. I use Firefox browser and have installed the AdBlock Plus add on. That works really well, BTW. Additionally, I've installed a 3rd party addon called Preloader from Sourceforge. Once a page is loaded, revisiting that page is real snappy.

What this post is all about is every time I reboot my machine, the first time I visit any site its like I've never been there before. Typical dialup.. Slow step by step loading of even the smallest graphic. Just wonder if there is some setting in FF I've missed that might help this.

Checked cookies in my Firefox profile and there are a ton of them in there.

Thanks... Raybro

Answer:Solved: Firefox page load time

Your "ISP" could be the culprit to slow browsing. I tried several and have settled on "TOAST.net" [http://www.toast.net/] with great satisfaction. I use SeaMonkey as my browser, and it allows use of a proxy, which TOAST accommodates. It makes all the difference in the world! Further, TOAST provides a multi-setting accelerator that really does work. I use "maximum" for sites where graphics display is not important and "very good" when I am downloading pictures, which I do every day.

I think I have narrowed it down to the google toolbar causing the problem. I dont know if there is a fix for that or if I will have to dump the toolbar and replace it with another. I have been using the google toolbar for years in that site and never had this problem before. I dont see any settings in the toolbar that could cause this. Anyone have any ideas? It is not the google toolbar solely, sometimes it loads sometimes it doesnt when I disable the toolbar. I have done a total uninstall of firefox including personal settings and all but it still wont work properly. The site loads ok with IE8. I have been using the firefox browser for 3 or 4 years now and never had any problems till now

I have used TSG before and am asking for help again. I would post information regarding my computer but I have notbeen able to open any internet connections on my desktop in several days. For some reason there are several non responsive programs on the desktop that will not open. I am writing this from my Asus netbook, which is connected to the same network so I do not believe its the network itself, but who knows. I tried to run HiJackThis, but it would not load, IE and Mozilla Firefox will not open or load...I double click, you see the hour glass, and then, nothing happens. When I try to use contorl-alt-delete to see if the program is nonresponsive my task manager will not open and then my start menu will also not open. Interestingly, my Mozilla Thunderbird email opens with no problems and downloads messages from the server. There are two things that are different about my computer in the last several months. One is that I got rid of my printer and got a new one, and I do not think that would affect the connectivity? The other is that I tried installing google chrome and was super disappointed to find toolbars installed without my knowledge or permission. I am attempting to repair a Toshiba Laptop (Sat Pro A300) running Vista Home Premium. The computer is not mine: it belongs to someone who knows less than me about PC faults but I am no expert with Vista. MalwareBytes identified and removed Adware.Zango, Adware.Hotbar and Adware.Softomate with no noticeable difference in behaviour. In general the computer seems to be in working order except for some aspects of networking.

What doesn't work
Internet Explorer and Firefox can't load web pages
AVG can't download updates
ePrompter can't check for email
FTP can't connect to ftp site (connection refused)
Other computers on my network are not visible

What does work
Wired or wireless, the computer connects to my ADSL router and receives an appropriate IP address.
Ping works fine including DNS (e.g. google.com)
Windows update downloads updates as usual
Clock can be set from internet time server with usual reliability

My conclusions so far
There is something wrong with http or TCP/IP. It could be a corrupted or missing file or a faulty registry setting or maybe something is deliberately blocking certain types of traffic. Turning off the Windows firewall makes no difference.

Repair options
The computer can be reset to the factory default installation and all the additional software installation and configuration repeated.
There is no restore point old enough to be useful.
I have a backup image of the current hard drive configuration.

I would like to restore ... Read more

Hi everyone. I have a problem. I tried to go to a web page in Internet Explorer because it wouldn't work in Firefox. Well, when I typed in the web page address on Internet Explorer and hit the Enter button, it went to Firefox and proceeded to load the page in Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. Firefox is set as my default browser. I have Internet Explorer 6.0 and Firefox 3.0.1. The main problem with this is that I cannot download Internet Explorer 7.0 or 8.0 because I can't go to the Windows Update site. As you know, Firefox is incompatible with Windows Update. So, if you all could please help me out, it'd be greatly appreciated.

A "manual configuration" is supposed to speed up the time it takes for FireFox to load.....

Start Firefox3 and go to Tools Menu >>> Option >>> (in the new window) chose Advanced >>> Network Tab >>> (in connection Table) press Setting button >>> (in the new window) chose Manual Proxy Configuration >>> type in the HTTP Proxy Field: 127.0.0.1 >>> and Port: 0 >>> click OK >>> click OK >>> restart your firefox3

What exactly is happening with a "manual proxy configuration"?
Is anything compromised or would any functionality of the browser be lessened by configuring a manual proxy configuration?
Why doesn't FireFox have it set like this to begin with if it causes a faster start up?

Some websites, for example:
http://www.colonialfirstate.com.au/ and
http://postbillpay.com.au

do not load in my newly installed IE7.

The error message says:

This program cannot display the webpage

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:
Check your Internet connection. Try visiting another website to make sure you are connected.
Retype the address.
Go back to the previous page.
More information

But the same websites load OK in Firefox.

I have fiddled around with the security settings etc., but still no joy.

I did not have such a problem with IE6.

I also use Maxthon Browser from time to time. But since that is based on IE engine, even that will not show some websites.

Can somebody suggest a solution?

The only Firewall that I use is WinPatrol. I clean up Malware once in a while with AdAware SE.

Answer:Websites Will Not Load in IE, But Will Load in Firefox

Hello, This is not an answer to your question, I just wanted to say that 'WinPatrol' is not a firewall.

I recently uninstalled and wiped all my firefox settings after installing a addon call ghostborwser (or something similar) it has a icon of Casper the Friendly ghost to represent it. It Removed all my colour and images form ALL websites visited it was suposed to be (I assumed anyways) like a 'bosskey to hide the browser/make it invisible, after the colour faded from my world I uninstalled the Addon and restarted firefox and the colour and images were still gone so I uninstalled firefox and erased all of my settings out of the Docs setting folder (Exept for backing up my bookmarks)and used ccleaner to purge the rgistery of firefox enteies to start fresh.

I then reinstlled firefox 2.0.0.14 and tried loading it I got the

"firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Message restarted and got the same I rebooted and still the same message
I uninstalled and reinstalled it several times still and still get:

Any ideas?

I'm making this thread to share with you this extension, which let you load or save preferences into Mozilla Firefox and Firefox-based browsers.
This extension can be very important when we use mobile devices, because when we use them we can't access to the directory of our Firefox profile.

Answer:Solved: Browsers will not load microsoft website but will load FB, Google etc etc

Either it's a problem server side for them, which would be an issue with your IP,
or a process/service altered some of your core system settings on your end which blocks the microsoft website for some reason....., you can try a different IP address just to make sure it's not server side for them, and then if that doesn't work I am not sure what to tell you other than reinstalling all browsers, and eventually refromatting if reinstalling browsers does not work.

IF it is an IP issue it could be something with your network, if a network admin blocked the microsoft website, or even theoretically your ISP if there was a strange issue with them, however that would be rare.

I have a very simple web page that automatically updates daily. However, very often when I view it I just get the version that is in my browser cache rather than the latest version from the web. I have to do a manual refresh from the browser to see the latest version. Not a problem for me, but other viewers of the page may not realize they aren't seeing the latest information.

Is there an HTML tag or some such that can be included in the page that will force a refresh and override any old version that the viewer may still have in their browser cache?

My hard drive clicked/clunked 3-5 times then I received the CrashReporter dialog.
While it was trying to load all other windows and functions would not respond.
I updated, rebooted, scanned drive, defragged and rebooted again. Still not loading.

This is where it gets strange.
All other programs work. It seems to be just browsers functioning incorrectly.

Safari had similar issues.
Chrome clunks and clicks then eventually loads.
IE works first time! I hate IE.

I wondered could it be a firewall conflict? I use zonealarm free.

Please help.

Question: Firefox Won't Load

Hi again,After working on Mother-In-Law's computer, I seem to have been designated the official puter person in the family. I've told them to ask you guys, since you're the ones responsible for her machine being back on line, yet here I am again, hat in hand asking for help.Aunt Jean couldn't get her ad-aware to run. It always seemed to hang up at the same place. Also, she can't get Firefox to work even though she has removed and installed it several times. She has Win XP Pro w/ SP2. A search at Lavasoft suggested that I run chkdsk and defrag. Chkdsk found and repaired several clusters. I defragged, although there is very little on the HD (131 GB free space out of 145 GB). It also told me to change some Ad-aware settings, specifically, under "Scanning" to un-tick 'scan within archives' and under "Tweak-->Scanning Engine" to un-tick 'Unload recognised modules during scan,' This allowed me to run ad-aware successfully. However, Firefox is still a no go. I've installed and removed it several times. AJ has Norton Systemworks on her machine and after running their "Live Update," I've run Norton's WinDoctor a couple of times as well as Disk Doctor to no avail. As of now, I've followed all your Prep to posting steps and very little has been found by any of the malware programs you suggest (I expected to find lots of big baddies!):*Ad-aware found 3 tracking cookies (found in the run before I began your prep steps, found none the next tim... Answer:Firefox Won't Load

Hello Paul (the fixer), I am SifuMike and I will be helping you. Aunt Jean couldn't get her ad-aware to run. It always seemed to hang up at the same place. I am assuming you solved the Ad-aware problem. Ad-aware SE uses a lot of memory when it runs, so adding more memory or running it in Safe Mode may fix it. How to Reboot into Safe Mode tap F8 key during reboot, until the boot menu appears...use the arrow keys to choose "Safe Mode" from the menu......,then press the "Enter" key. Also, she can't get Firefox to work even though she has removed and installed it several times. She has Win XP Pro w/ SP2. This sounds like a firewall interfearing with Firefox. Try turning off the XP firewall, then see if can run FireFox. How to turn on or turn off the firewall in Windows XP She has "Earthlink Setup Files" in Add/remove programs. Uses TimeWarner's Roadrunner, so any reason I can't remove it?Also, something called Learn2 Player. Can I safely uninstall this one?You can uninstall "Earthlink Setup Files" and Learn2 Player. Also, Spyware Blaster is here. It is not in your log, so it must have been installed. SpywareBlaster is a great antispyware program that prevents the installation of spyware and other potentially unwanted software!******************Lets run some scans to make sure there is no malware lurking. You will need to use Internet Explorer for this scan. Disable your antivirus program and go here to run BitDefen... Read more

I am running Windows XP and Firefox 3 when two days ago Firefox would not load. It starts to, by asking whether I want to resume or start a new session. I select start new. Then it just hangs. I go into Task Manager and it shows that firefox.exe is using about 50% CPU and 200MB memory but nothing is loading.

Any suggestions as to why this has just started to happen and more importantly, how do I get back to it working properly.

Working on a computer for a friend. the problem is Internet explorer nor Firefox (new install from USB drive) will load, I get the error that there is a problem and the program has stopped working. I downloaded AVG for Free 9.9 (can't install no internet connection), same for Spybot Search and Destroy. Also downloaded Malwarebites, but could not install - I try and run as administrator and the hour galss appears for a second like it was going to start the installation and just quits. Was able to run Defoggger, HijackThis, and DDR. Extracted GMER but when I try to run the program I get the same error as IE and Firefox. Since I cannot get to the internet (I am connect to my network and have local and internet capability), I had to download all of the programs and install via usb drive. When I boot the machine I get an error that says "MSASCui.exe failed to initialize", and Windows Security Center wont run properly either - it also states Windows defender stopped. Tried to do a system restore, but Vista says that there are no restore points available.

On the DEsktop there is a shortcut for the following program:

c:\Program Data\08517526\08517526.exe.

Norton 360 will not run.

UPDATE: changed name of gmer.exe and was able to run and have attached the file - ark.txt, also attached the attach.txt file from DDR.

Hey guys,

Seems like quite an active forum here. I've run into a little problem today I'm hoping someone can help me with: I am using Firefox (1.05, I think) as my browser, only since this morning it won't load more than once.

What I mean is, when I boot my system (running Win XP) I can load Firefox either by using a shortcut or navigating to the executable directly. If I want to open another window (either because I want 2 windows at once, or took a break from browsing and then came back) it doesn't load up: precisely nothing appear to happen. This happens whether I use the shortcut or executable. Firefox doesn't appear among running processes, either. This problem has persisted despite several reboots.

Unless there was some Windows Update automatically downloaded last night, I've not changed my configuration for a while. Spyware and virus checkers come up clean.

Any ideas, anyone?

The IE browser opens briefly, then closes immediately. Firefox crashes without even opening, whereas previously, it at least came up with a box saying that it had crashed.
I tried a system restore without luck and finally, via friend on MSN Messenger, managed to install and launch Opera. Since then, I have tried to download IE 8 and an earlier version of Firefox, but without success.

Question: Firefox Won't Load

Hi -- New kid on the block here. I've got a basket of problems that all may be related, but I'll start with the most obvious one. I've been using Firefox for years very satisfactorily. Somehow, this past week it has gone bad (maybe the v 3.5.6 or whatever), and it would not work at all, so I uninstalled it and then downloaded and reinstalled. Now after it is downloaded and ready to install, I get the following message: title "Firefox .exe application error"; message, "The application was unable to start correctly. (0X0000056)." What does this mean and how to resolve the error? Any help would really be appreciated. rfb100

Firefox White - then BlackI have used Firefox in preference to IE for about 2 years. Just recently Firefox occasionally refuses to open. It is in that state right now. There is an empty window frame (with the desktop inside it) and when the close button is pressed, the whole inside goes black. Then it justs sits there - all black. Only Ctrl-Alt-Del gets rid. I use RoboForm which I find really useful and which does not work on Opera or Chrome so I am loath to change and keep going back to FF in case it works. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Getting teed off. What can I do? I have uninstalled and reinstalled FF a couple of times to try to cure it to no avail. Any ideas?

Question: Firefox won't load

This is getting a wee bit irritating.

Firefox does not want to load at times.

I have tried reinstalling it and it does the same thing. Tried a system an XP System Restore to before it acted up to no avail

If I have it open and try to open up Firefox again to have a couple of windows open the 2nd attempt won't load. The first window will work. But then when I close the first window out it won't load either.

If I go into the task manager and close the process I can get it to load but still can only have one page. Running XP Home Edition

Any thoughts???

Question: Can't load Firefox

Well, I've had the new laptop (with cursed Vista) for three days and already there're problems.

I've been using Firefox this evening but now I can't get it to start. There was a window which said Firefox is already running---but it's not---now, even that window doesn't appear; the little "busy circle" spins for thirty seconds then disappears. The task manager shows nothing running. I rebooted with same results. I decided to uninstall/reinstall but add/remove says I can't when Firefox is running---but it's not. It's not, I tell you, it's not.

There are other things I can't yet figure out but I'll leave those until later.

Answer:Can't load Firefox

in the task manager go to to the processes tab and look for firefox.exe if it is still there then firefox is running the background.

left click on it and click end process and this will stop Firefox.

you then should be able to reopen firefox and it begin to work.

hope this helps

Today I tried to load FireFox to check my e-mail. I can't progress past accepting the FireFox EULA. I accept it, press OK multiple times and nothing happens. See thumbnail. Do I have to re-install FireFox?

I wish my email link accepted Opera and I would give FF the flick. Bazza

Nothing. Please help me. I need firefox for my work. There one website that doesn't work, unless I'm in firefox

This started with a message "Firefox could not install this item because of a failure in Chrome Registration" so I started a Google search for a solution and found one straight away - right click on Firefox icon and 'run as administrator'. Lots of folk saying, 'thanks, worked like a dream'. Unfortunately not for me.

I uninstalled, emptied the recycle bin and made sure no instances of Mozilla were in my file (as far as I could see) and reinstalled but the problem persists. I even tried to start FF in safe mode but my computer just shut down.

Any ideas? I'm in Vista (unfortunately)

thanks

edit: I no longer get the chrome registration error just a Mozilla crash reporter

Answer:Firefox will not load

Well, in my case started with the same thing, I scanned with my aplicattions (viruses, malware, etc) and now still does not load, but at least give some popup asking with what program I want to open it, so I click firefox and after clicking home it loads "perfectly". I have another problems with other programs/applications that does not load as a result of some broken links "virus" that I had been not able to fix, so my next step, backing up and fresh install. So, if you tryed some of this, and if your SO has been long time, start thinking in a fresh install.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? All the problems I am having, now this!
FF will not load, error msg:
"The address wasn?t understood
Firefox doesn?t know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (place) isn?t associated with any program or is not allowed in this context.
You might need to install other software to open this address"

I deleted and reloaded FF after getting this message, once in 32 bit, then in 64 when 32 displayed that message.
I used Mozilla's download from their site
OP is Win 7

Answer:Cannnot Load Firefox

Best to stick with Firefox 32 bit (ie the standard installation) as 64bit versions are very new and still subject to some issues.
My suggestion would be to uninstall Firefox again, but this time, restart your system and then search for a remaining Mozilla Firefox folder in program files (not anywhere else) and if there delete it. Restart system again and do a new install from a fresh set up file.
None of the above will delete your profile.

My computer has had some issues lately and one of the techs that my employer uses installed Symantec anti-virus which seems to have fixed the previous problems.  Now however I cannot access internet explorer.  I use internet explorer to access my grade book through edline because firefox will not allow it.  When I try to pull up IE the page comes up but stays blank.  I read on here that I can do something through the tool bar on IE but I can't even access that.  I also found a thread that said to reset the win-soc through the cmd (or something like that) but that didn't help either.   Firefox is working fine though and I am on it right now.

my husband had the exact same problem after we downloaded 3.6 version firefox... then about few hours... the IE7 does not work as i have to use that browser for work as well. I am assuming it is a new virus going on around because, my husbands gmail account would not recognize his password.. so .. and now my desktop computer is infected as well.. i have tried everything few times.. and its still a problem on my computer.. so yea.. I'm pretty sure.. things will get fixed... asap.

When I try using Internet Explorer I get the error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I have no trouble with Firefox though. I use TrendMicro PC-Illin Security software and when I turn off the Personal Firewall IE works. I do not understand why it blocks IE though since in the "Program Control" section I specifically have Internet Explorer enabled. There is a "Network Control" tab which has a number of options not checked (enabled). Is there a specific one I should try enabling?

Firefox won't load pages like mozilla, facebook, and comcast. IE has no problem with these websites. After doing everything firefox troubleshooting suggests to do when this problem arises, I am still unable to load these pages. I don't have Adblock, so that can't be the issue either.

I have restared my computer, checked my proxy, disabled add-ons, cleared cookies and cache, ran malwarebytes, reinstalled firefox, ran CCleaner, uninstalled itunes (my latest download).

What could be the problem or what could I be doing wrong?

I'm having a real pain with my web browsers. I'm using dial-up 31.2 kbps, and the connection is just fine (I can update anti-virus & anti-spyware programs) but I can't surf the web with IE or Firefox. If I use Firefox, when I enter the web address, the browser just stays blank and the connection indicator says it's done loading already. If I open up IE, it will search for the website, but then crash (the error message indicates it's code 0xc0000005, with all the other addresses at 0). My OS is XP Pro.

I think it might have to do with some anti-spyware programs I put in: either Lavasoft Ad-Aware, Webroot Spy Sweeper, or Secretmaker (I really think it's Secretmaker, and have since uninstalled that program, but I can't solve the problem). What's really odd is that I CAN BROWSE using the browser on RealPlayer 10.0, which is what I'm using to post. Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Hello, I just got a Lenovo Ideapad S10 with XP. The first thing I did was install Firefox, as well as flash player directly from Adobe. Then I got to work uninstalling Norton Internet Security using the Add/Remove Programs tool in the Control Panel. Since uninstalling Norton I am unable to use IE7. It will say that it is unable to load the web page and when I try to refresh, all that appears in the address bar is http:/// While I don't generally use IE7 for the web, I do want it to work properly. Any thoughts on what may be wrong? Thanks in advance for the help.

Several days ago, my computer froze and had several issues with drivers that I was able to fix in safe mode (with networking). I thought everything was fine, until I tried to use IE (ver. 9) and Firefox because a website I needed wasn't compatible with chrome. Anyway, no page would load, and it wouldn't even get to a point where it stopped loading. However, in safe mode, both firefox and IE work fine. Ran anti-malware and avast, no luck. I have posted my hijackthis file in this OP. Is it a proxy thing? Is it from my previous troubles? HELP.

Sometimes firefox wont load any pages. When i click on a link it does nothing at all. So i thought i'd try IE and it has the same problem only IE gives me a cannot load page. But when i click on a link a few times both browsers will load it eventually, only without any pictures loading.
This only happens once or twice a day or it might not happen at all.
Also the other computers on my network seem to be loading pages just fine.

I have firefox 3.0.4 and IE 7 with windows xp

I don't know what happened to cause it, but I have a problem.

Just last week, I've noticed that both Firefox and I.E. have stopped loading specific websites. Particularly websites that I visit most often, such as deviantART. Whenever I try to access these websites through one of my browsers, it will load for quite a while, but will end up stopping on a blank white page. The website never loads - the icon next to the URL in the address bar doesn't even show up. It's just a blank white page.

However, I tried running deviantART through Google, and I clicked the "view cached text only" option, instead of loading the full website. All of the text shows up perfectly, but whenever I try to access the site regularly, all I get is the blank white page and nothing.

To try to verify that it was a problem with my computer, I tried logging on to my laptop. It's a seperate computer, and I plugged it in to the same connection I am using for this computer (a Comcast modem). To my suprise, the same websites did not work on my laptop, either.

Though, I've asked friends to try to access the websites I've been trying to go on, and they have all claimed they work fine. So, as far as I know, the sites aren't the problem.

I just don't know what to do anymore. I'm currently running Norton Internet Security / Antivirus and Spy Sweeper on my computer, and I do full system sweeps regularly. But I don't see that as the problem, hence ... Read more

Hi, my Firefox and IE can't seem to load up to gmail.
Both can access the log-in page, but after I click on the log-in button, I see a blank page.

Is it due to my 2 firewalls?

I am running Kerio and XP SP2 firewalls.

I've tired uninstalling Kerio, but the problem is still there.

The IE and Firefox in my office has no problems at all.

There's another problem, I can't install JavaScript. Keeps having missing files, eg: MSIC.tmp

Please help me..

I have noticed on my Windows XP Home edition SP3 a problem using Mozilla Firefox just starting today. I was just recently on it using it fine on Saturday doing some college classes online (with multiple windows) and had no problems. Seems everytime I attempt to open this program now it will not load. I checked the task manager and can see it is eating up 100% CPU and of course just never loads but notice if I end the process the CPU usage goes back to normal. I have searched around and for some answers and here is what I have done so far. I have run Norton scans, my spybot S&D and even downloaded malwarebytes that all except for Spybot found issues that I corrected or removed. This was all to no resolution so I proceeded to upgrade my Mozilla from its older version and now currently have the 4.0 but this didn't help as well. I tried loading Mozilla firefox in safe mode but this even uses the same resources and the process has to be stopped. I tried uninstalling my Flash and Java and reinstalling without resolution. I did read your forum suggestions before posting and used the autoruns to make sure unneccesary programs are not running at start up taking a look at the most common and unchecked them. It doesn't seem that anything I am trying is helping. I would love some advice on what maybe my next steps could be?

Hi,
This problem just started yesterday. We have a desktop and laptop. Both run IE7. We can't get to google on either computer. I downloaded firefox on the laptop and still can't load google. We can't use the little google search box either. I don't know if this matters or not but we ran cleanup on both computers over the weekend and on Monday for regular maintenance. I think there are a few other pages not loading but can't think of them right now.
Thanks,

- Click Start -> Run -> type:
cmd
- Click OK
- At the flashing cursor type:
ping www.google.com
- Hit enter on your keyboard

Please post back the results.

Also, have you tried temporarily disabling your firewall to see if you can get access to Google then?

This is driving me nuts! Suddenly a few days ago, I was unable to open certain websites on either Firefox 3.5 or IE 8. I'm running XP Pro on my laptop and the puzzling element here is that the majority of sites are fine. All my FF bookmarks open and, for example Yahoo Sports will open, but ESPN.com will not. Connection either times out or I get the dreaded The connection was reset-The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. There are numerous similar examples, but no trend or pattern is apparent as to which sites will open and which will not--but it's always the same sites that time out.

I have reset Firefox (reset user preferences to default), disabled all my add-ons, and temporarily disabled my antivirus program (Avast). I've confirmed Firefox is an exception on the Windows Firewall--all to no avail. I've run Malwarebytes, Spybot and Adaware with no malware found. I'm out of ideas!

I've seen and attempted a number of fixes from numerous forums, with no joy. Can anyone assist?

Thanks

Hi. I am having a problem loading pages in Firefox. It shows that the page is loading, but nothing loads. I am also having the same problem in Avant Browser (an IE-based browser). However, IE works fine...

This seems to have started after a recent Windows "Security" Update for Windows XP (KB912919). I tried uninstalling the update, to no avail... I can't seem to get any browser to work, except IE. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox.

I have tried configuring my firewall (Norton). But that doesn't seem to work either.

Perhaps it is coincidence, but when I try to update MS Antispyware (beta 1.0) and SpywareBlaster they both stop responding...

Any ideas, so that I may return to the wonderful world of tabbed browsing?

Answer:Firefox won't load pages

So do you eventually get the "page cannot be displayed" error? And regardless of the page you request? Sounds like IE isn't wanting to share the internet connection. But I'm not sure how to tell you to check it in windows.
