IE6 will not load certain websites: "Error Page Assistant"

Question: IE6 will not load certain websites: "Error Page Assistant"

I am operating IE6 on Windows XP with SP 2. There are certain websites that I used to frequent, that do not load up anymore. I am sent to a webpage titled "Error Page Assistant". The webpage has "DNS Error Page" listed at the top, and below is some generic version of a search engine. The following are two websites that give me this error: &

I have tried using Ad-Aware & Nortons, hoping that it might be a virus/spyware. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do. Thanks!

Preferred Solution: IE6 will not load certain websites: "Error Page Assistant"

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I receive this error regardless of the browser I'm using but I am connected to the internet; I can connect to steam and update games for example. The issue is tied solely to the inability to load websites. Mine is the only computer on the network that is displaying the issue.

Any help resolving the problem would be appreciated.

Answer:Receive "Server Not Found" error when trying to load websites.

You should run the following two commands one at a time, type them into an elevated command prompt, hit enter after each one.

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack)

got this autorun.inf virus you know the one that does not let you see hidden files/folders among other things

I got rid of it but after that I constantly get "Page Load Error" in Firefox, not only in Firefox IE and Chrome too the curious thing for instance in Firefox I have to reload the page like 4, 5, 6 times to load the page so after try too many times page finally loads and I can surf :confused

I have Norton Antivirus and I have run Malwarebytes but nothing was found...

any other idea what could be causing this issue?
this is happening in 2 machines in fact both got infected by the same usb with that virus

thanks a lot

Answer:Weird "Page Load Error" after autorun.inf virus

Welcome to Major Geeks!

You need to clean the USB drive and all PCs where it was used.

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.
READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.

Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

Starting your computer in Safe mode

If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

Win 7-64 on Gateway FX6860 i7 system 8gm ram tons of HD space.
Got "Page Failed to Load" error attempting to change my Win7-64bit display resolution.
This used to work, but no more ( don't know what might have caused it)

I ran "sfc /scannow". SFC reported that there were corrupted files that could not be repaired or replaced and to look at CBS.log. I did but can make no sense out of it.

Please find that file attached -- Any help will be appreciated.....

thank you,

Answer:"Page Failed to Load" error attempting to change my Win7-64bit display

Run the system file check again. Sometimes it requires multiple runs. Reboot after each run (or before the first run if you have not rebooted since the last time you ran the check).Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations. Use OPTION THREE of SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to provide us with the sfcdetails.txt file if errors occur.

When using the internet I get periodic pop-ups suggesting my computer is infected (duh!). This wouldn't be so bad except that most popular websites won't load (e.g. hotmail, facebook, google searches - though works, etc.). My Norton Antivirus apparently failed to protect against this malware, and doesn't detect any problems. Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy detected and fixed several problems (e.g. VirtuMonde) and have since been uninstalled, but my problems continue unabated. Please help if you can. If there is anything you don't understand, please ask BEFORE proceeding with the fixes.

I am operating with Internet Explorer and Windows Xp. For years, I have been able to load an internet webpage and save it by selecting "File" then "Save As", which would open a pop up window confirming "Save as type: Web Page, complete *.htm;*.html). I would click to save and it would be saved to my directory by way of two things, the actual html file and then a folder for all the images of that page, as seen below:

I use these files so that I can work offline on my laptop. When I click the html page in that directory, the page will load including all the saved images on that web page as if I was online.

However, lately I am unable to save pages and only get an error when trying to. Take, for example, the page found at this link:

I have ventured to the above link and clicked "File", then "Save as", and get this error:

I have tried endlessly to figure out how else to save this page so as to work on it off-line (including the images) but cannot. Has anybody else ran into this problem or know a work around or fix to this newly saddled dilema I have?

Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

When I right click My Computer on Vista Start menu the page says "The page failed to load"

I enclose a screenshot of the error.

I was also get "the application has failed to start because WINBRAND.dll was not found" when running

From RUN

This has now been fixed by downloading WINBRAND.dll and copying it to c:\windows\system32

But "The page failed to load" still happens when right clicking My Computer and choosing properties.

I did a SFC / Scannow and something weird happened. The Command Window had an error (apologies - forgot to note which but will rerun in a moment) however the CBS Log File showed no errors and indicated SFC ran successfully.

I will post the results of SFC in a few moments

Thanks for your help.

I have an ASUS K72F laptop running Windows 7, and it has always worked fine with both wired and wireless connections. I recently changed Internet provider from BT to Plusnet, though I cannot be sure that this is when the problem began.

It still works fine when wired, but when I switch the wireless on and unplug the ethernet cable, it says that there is a strong connection to the network with internet access, and I am able to find the router by putting into the browser, but I cannot load any Internet pages on any browser, and cannot use any other Internet apps like Skype. The wireless works fine on another laptop and on my phone - it is just on this Asus laptop.

I have tried searching for posts of various forums - but have just ended up using command prompt to ping google (it was not successful) and running a utility called winsockfix, which made no difference. I have scanned for malware and virus - I have removed a couple, but this hasn't fixed the problem.

Can anyone please help?

Several days ago there was a large number of updates available to download. I allowed the system to update all of them. Three, KB974234, KB972581 and KB973709 it was shown on the update history page as failing to download.
Reading as to a possible solution, I tried to load them manually, saving those files to my desktop, right clicking on each, to run as an administrator. After each loaded I got a message telling me they were already installed on my system.
My question is why does the "failure" notice remain on my history page and how can I delete those three file entries?
Thanks much,

Hi there,

just installed IE9 and the first thing I noticed when I acess some websites is a box in the middle of the page saying " Message from webpage:"Please wait for the page to load..." it is really annoying and pops up several times if I close it or press ok

anyone knows how to disable this?

Answer:IE9 Message from webpage:"Please wait for the page to load..."

Just get a real browser. FireFox or Chrome. It's so easy!

I used to be hardcore IE user, but since IE9 came up I had to switch.
I am never comming back to IE anymore!!! (it's slow and just a poor browser)

I am infected with this crap and have used the following tools to try to get rid of it:
Windows Defender, Unible PowerSuite (SpeedUpMyPC, Registry Booster & Spyware Protector) and Norton's One Button Checkup and WinDoctor.

Atempted the 5 Step Process before posting and Panda ActiveScan froze and crashed after scanning 59253 files, but not before identifying 28 spyware files.

I'm having much frustration with my Epson CX3700 and this horrible error message... "Page not printed or Multi-Page error" - this occurs when using Publisher and printing only one page documents! I have ensured only one page is there to print, and even if I select - print only page 1, or print only current page, I still receive this error message! Then that annoying little red light on the CX3700 starts to blink blink blink and to get another page out of it I must shut it down, wait, turn it on, and wait, and print ONE page again!!!! aarrghhhhh....Has anyone encountered this? I am guessing there is a setting somewhere I can change to end this pain but despite my searching and testing (and killing trees in the meantime) I cannot stop it doing this. One page documents in other programs print fine, as do multi-page documents.I would really really appreciate any feedback on this one! Many of the web pages that I open don't open correctly and give either a "Done, but with errors" message or an "Error on page" message in the lower left corner, including the MSN home page and Yahoo. Specifically, on Yahoo email, the buttons don't work because the code behind the buttons wasn't loaded. (i.e. when I double-click on the error and click Show Details, it says that the button is undefined). This happens on all the computers that I've tried around the monastery (about six of them). We are running Windows XP Home and use Internet Explorer 6 as the browser. I've tried deleting the internet temporary files and the cookies, but it didn't help. It seems to be a problem with our computers -- when I visited the public library, Yahoo worked fine on their computers.
I have submitted a troubleshooting request to Yahoo, but they were unable to help. Any suggestions, anyone? Thank you in advance!

hi i just got a new dell laptop with its crap setup and HD partitioned:

1st partition: dell utility 80mb
2nd partition: c 60gb ACTIVE
3rd partition: d backup 38 gb
4th partition: something that restores to dell crap setup 2gb

As its a laptop for professional audio only, I repartitioned using PM8 (with intended use in brackets) to:

1st partition - dell utility 80mb
2nd partition c - 20gb (current audio projects and XP system files) ACTIVE
3rd partition d - 40 gb (samples)
4th partition e - 2gb (Audio software)
5th partition f - 15gb (XP and other software + unallocated at end)

and then tried reinstalling windows xp + sp2 from cd to the f drive (with system files on the active c drive) - with the intention of afterwards, wiping the current dell xp setup c drive....
Unfortunately XP crashes during the install half way through the 'registering components' stage with the message:

"page fault in non paged area"

a load of blurb with the suggestion of turning off shadow and cached in bios and then:

Stop 0x00000060 (0x0EB00000, 0x00000001, 0x805695E8, 0x00000000)

now i did a bit of digging and in event viewer in administrative tools. under system there are some nice red "x"es for when my system blue screened.

Hi, I am having a problem with my newer computer, I just got this rig a few months ago and never had a problem until last Thursday. It Blue Screened on me while I was installing ARC GIS 10.1. From then on it randomly crashes. (I have previously installed ARC GIS 10 and never had a problem.)

I keep things updated (windows and drivers) and I do think windows forced through an update earlier that day. I un installed ARC GIS 10.1 and the windows update, didn't make any difference. I have also ran the Windows Mem test and Auslogic BoostSpeed/ Registry repair. I keep getting "Bad Pool Header" and "Page In Nonpage Area" and I can't seem to find something that triggers it. So far it hasn't crashed in Safe Mode without network access. I tried it once with access and it crashed. Currently have windows checking the drives for errors ( I have 4).

I think I attached the proper dump files. This is my work computer so this is kind of causing a big problem. Thanks in advanced for the help!!

Recently, I'm playing Anno 1404 (also called Dawn of Discovery) in my Vista Home Basic 32bit finely until I saw the problem with the "save/load" problem. First, it saves "systematically" but, the save is corrupted to a 5kb file. Second, the game can't load the 'properlly saved' save file, and also the corrupted one also.

Few of the players had the similar problem, and someone said that making another user account works, and I tried and really worked for me. Yes, I can play this way, but all of my files and infos are saved in the Administrator account, and I don't want to switch users just to play that game

Recently I found a useful MS program, which is runas, and found how to run as another account. It asks for the account pw, and everythis was fine, but it doesn't run my game
It just closes the cmd and nothing happens. What could be this problem?
I hope Ubi gives out this fixing patch fast

Answer:Anno 1404 "save/load" problem and using "runas.exe"

Figured it out with Runasspc program (which also saves the password! )

I am having the hijacked home page problem that others are having. However, my hijacking started with the "coolwwwsearch" and then went to a "" page that, as described before, cannot and will not be changed to my regular homepage, "" is the page I'm currently stuck on. I have read some of the instructions about downloading the 'Hijack This' program for the 'coolwwwsearch' problem, is this where I start for '' too? I am a novice to these forums and am quite computer stupid, but, I can follow easily understood instructions. If I do complete the 'Hijack this' instructions and save the log somewhere, (where?), how do I 'show you its contents'? Please be as basic and clear in your instructions as possible. Thanks for the help. ALF64

Went into the W7 control panel to make a 'system repair disk' (boot disk), just in case I ever needed it. Making the disk went OK, with W7 telling me it had successfully finished, and to label the CD.

I then put the boot CD into my DVD drive to make sure it worked OK. Computer boots from the CD and W7 says it has started loading files. Then the pretty blue background screen started (just like the one in the F8 repair console), and then there was a long pause and then I get the error code shown on the photo below. Clicking OK reboots the computer, and no repair options ever load.

I made two separate boot disks to rule out a bad CD, but still get the same error #

This is a brand new Dell computer, both DVD drives work fine, and burn CDs without problems.

Answer:"Sytem Repair Disk" Can't Load - Error 4001100200001012

In looking at what came with my computer, I do in fact have a "Reinstallation DVD" for W7. It boots OK into the repair console. So, the problem in making my own boot disk is a moot point for now - other then the desire to understand that error code.

I need some technical help and am not sure where to pose this, as it's a problem that the program's developer has never seen before and his suggestions didn't solve.
Album Player is a very good sounding small audio player that's been around for a few years: Audio player Album Player 2.105. It simply unzips to wherever the user wants; i.e. it doesn't use the installer. After running it successfully for months, for the past three days it's been returning an error box on starting the program with the message, "Could not load the decoder." But the thing is the decoder file, ap2decoder.exe, shows as a running process in Windows Task Mgr (Win 8.1 x64 Pro). The developer says the decoder program hasn't changed in five versions (since 2.101, now 2.105).
Here's what I've tried without success:
- deleted and reinstalled the x64 and x32 versions a few times (with reboots)
- excluded the player from Comodo anti-virus and firewall (there were no warnings)
- changed folders where it's located
- run as administrator
- run Yamicsoft Windows 8 Mgr repair module
The only other new thing I can think of during these past couple of days is that there have been two computer startups among many where the system SSD wasn't recognized by the BIOS. The first time I checked BIOS settings and all looked normal, and then coming out of it the computer started right up. The second time I ignored it and it just rebooted normally. I also unplugged/replugged the SSD on both ends just to be su... Read more

I'm a newbie here - after finding techsupportguy by googling for support forums for my particular problem. I hope someone in this community might have some ideas for me...

So after having a stable and successful dual-boot with XP and Vista Ultimate 32Bit for several months now, I got over-confident.

After a long night getting the kids to sleep, etc etc, I had the bright wee hours of the morning idea that I could quickly increase my Vista partition size as it was getting a little light (it shares an internal HDD with another drive letter) and promptly stuffed my Vista boot.

Setup = C:\ XP Boot (original OPSYS). V:\ Vista Partition (shared on same drive as D:\)

What I did...

* Booted into XP, loaded Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.
* Resized D:\ (shrunk by 25GB) and Resized v:\ (increased by 25GB).
* Applied actions.
* Had a PC lock-up in XP some time later, reset PC.
* Boot error - no Windows Vista found (load original disc).
* Loaded Vista disc and used "r" option. Located vista partition, repaired.
* Vista Booted (had rundll.exe error or something similar) and died.
* Re-booted, hit F8 and selected "last known good config." Vista ran lengthy disc check. (Noticed Vista volume was now H:\ not V:\ ???)
* Re-Booted- Vista loaded to login. Keyed password, and "preparing desktop" appeared.
* My desktop and startup programs fail to boot and I get stuck in a plain blue empty screen with cursor only. CTR-ALT-DEL accesses Task Manager or lo... Read more

Hello, I've recently been trying to download and install Windows Live Mail. That part was easy, however, upon opening the program, I receive error messages. The first one says, "Sorry, something unexpected happened and Windows Live Mail must close, your most recent changes may not be saved." Then another error box is displayed stating, "Contacts failed to load. Windows Live Mail is incorrectly configured, please re-install." I've uninstalled and reinstalled this program several times, but still not sure why I am receiving these errors. I did edit the registry, deleting the keys for all Windows Live folders insuring a complete uninstall, then reinstalled a fresh download of Windows Live Mail but STILL got the same error messages. I also tried to clear the Live Contacts Store/Cache by renaming the Live contacts folder so a new one would be replaced. Still nothing...This is getting frustrating...Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks!

Answer:"User Accounts" in Control panel wont Open-Error is "Html application Host Error"

Do you have a recovery restore install disc or partition?
You can try doing a repair or system file check...
Scan For Missing/Corrupt System Files...

Windows XP comes with a wonderful tool called System File Checker (SFC)
Itscans and verifies the versions of all protected system files after you restart your computer...
To Do This:
Click Start menu, and then click the Run icon.
In the small box that Opens, type the three letters: cmd then click the OK button.
In the command prompt window that just opened (a black background and white text), type the following command:
SFC /scannow
And then click OK
You must be logged on as a member of the Administrators group to run SFC..
You will need your Windows XP CD during this procedure if SFC needs to get an original file. Please remember that Windows XP can have multiple instances of a .DLL file and remember which version is for which program.
I have been asked if it is possible to have a "progress meter" show when SFC runs... This is the registry hack you need. PLEASE do not go messing with your registry if you do NOT know what you are doing!
System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
Value Name: SFCShowProgress
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled)

Hey There,

Was just hoping someone knows wtf is going on here-

Some .chm files, when I try to read them with the default winXP .chm viewer, display the standard Internet Explorer "The page cannot be displayed" error page in the viewing pane. The table of contents is visible, however, just not the page data.

Now, if I copy the same .chm file to my desktop, it opens fine!

This only happens with some of my .chm files, although it is always the same ones- and they always work when I copy them to the desktop, just not when they are in the folders I keep them in.

The data is there, it just can't be accessed for some reason (if I use a .chm 'decoder' to decode the .chm files to .htm format, they work fine; however I don't want to have to mess with a hundred different .htm files just to read a book)

BTW, I have tried changing the filenames with no avail.

If anyone has solved this problem or has any suggestions I would be greatly appreciative.

I finally got fed up and tried something. It worked. Here's what I did:

From "Start" go to "settings" and "Control Panel."

Click on "Add/Remove Programs." (Don't panic. We won't be removing anything.)

Select "Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1 and Internet Tools." (Continue not to panic.)

Double-click on it and-- this is VERY important, as I don't know what headaches await if you get this wrong-- Select "Repair Internet Explorer," then "OK."

Follow the instructions, and you should be fine. I don't know if this works in XP, though, so proceed with caution.

Hi, everyone. Just found this website, and it looks like it will hopefully be helpful. Here's my problem:

I am unable to access a specific website: I receive an error message stating that this page cannot be displaye (as if the site doesn't exist). However, on other computers, the page appears fine.

I have Norton Internet Security installed w/parental controls (haven't gotten a chance to try turning them off; don't know if this could be the problem). I'm thinking that maybe the oversensative parental controls are blocking the site, but can anyone think of what else could be causing this problem?

I only get the message when I go to Other websites work fine.

Thanks for your help, everyone!

Recently, whenever I try to start Firefox, I've started seeing the "an error has occurred on the script on this page.... do you want to continue running scripts on this page" message. I usually have to click "no" two or three times to get Firefox to finally open. And then, when I close Firefox down again, there the same script error message box is AGAIN! Sometimes 2 or 3 copies of it! So apparently the problem page keeps on TRYING to load.

The URL for the page that is apparently trying to run is:

I'm assuming the page is somehow related to Amazon but the script error shows up even when I don't attempt to go to any site related to Amazon. I've tried removing Amazon from my bookmarks and toolbar. No luck.

And, as far as I know, I don't use any Amazon Web Services which I've now figured out is what the "aws" part of the URL refers to. But, since it seems that Amazon now has a finger in every pie, who knows?

Any suggestions for how to fix this? I run Windows 10 on an HP Notebook.

BTW - I'm brand new to Techguy so if this isn't the right forum, please tell me how to request that my question be moved. Thank you in advance.

What's happening is occasionally pages are loading slowly and missing some graphics. Once in a while, I am also getting "Website not found," and I have to hit refresh a few times to get to the page.

I don't know why, or what, is causing this, but everytime I try to open a mov, mp4, or swf file off the internet (a direct link to that file), it will load completely, then say "Error on page" in the status bar where a Javascript would normally give an error. Is there some setting I can change to let the movie just play in the browser?

Every time i try to load an Http page i get "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading"
Now i know my router in fine and my adapter is working because i can access Https (Secured sites), Online Games and Instant Messengers but everything else seems to be a no go now??

Ie is also the same but i am confused as to what could be causing it. I am currently on another computer run off the same router and this is obviously working fine.

I didnt change any settings simply left my computer on and working and when i returned No http pages would load. In the time i left the computer the only thing i can think of that happend were a few power surges but this may well be a concidence.

i have tried ip resets and loads of other solutions to similar problems i have seen but nothing has worked for me yet

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Answer:[SOLVED] "The Connection Was Reset" Page Error??

Ok. First try uninstalling firefox completely which means going into your program files and deleting the mozilla folder etc. After this reinstall.

That or create a new profile in the profile manager and this should clear the problem.

You could also run firefox in safe mode to see if it is an extension you installed that could be the problem.

I love the Dev Preview so far. We were getting on so well. And then the (reimagine) blue screen of death shows up, with it's sad face. I thought I might have said something to upset it. "Shhh, it's okay winona, shhh" I said, stroking the screen comfortingly. And then she reboots. And BSOD's. Repeat X times till I also have a sad face on.

The error I'm getting is "Page Error in Non-Paged Area". This started after a BSOD relating to it falling idle for roughly 25 minutes (I've heard of other people getting this, but not my problem after). The system this is running on is an AMD Turion 64 X2 @ 2.1GHz, 3Gb DDR2 RAM, ATI HD3200, 250GB hdd. My standard issue test bed, since my Asus broke I've been using this in the mean time.

I've taken the HDD out and whacked it into my server (cause I'm just that cool), the file system is intact, ChkDsk doesn't find any integrity issues, and there's no bad sectors (allegedly). On top of this, the boot sector also seems in tact. I've done a test of both my memory modules, taking one out and testing the other on it's own - the error still occurs, so I'm led to assume a driver or something is causing the issue.
DVD drive on my test bed doesn't work, died ages ago, so that's not helpful, but I can extract dumps etc onto my server if anyone's able to help with this.

And if anyone can fix it - the beers and/or cookies are on me.
(can't upload anything right now as I'm away from all 3 computers)

Okay, I'll try to explain this as best I can as I'm posting this for my husband. He is on a business trip in SE Asia (India, Korea, Taiwan) and while in India he picked up a virus. It's been cleared but he continues to have this problem with IE7...
He's able to open it and do a little reading or get his email, but after about 5 minutes he only gets the "Page Cannot Be Displayed" error and is unable to open any new tabs or windows, no links work, etc. (he then has to reboot to get it back). He's cleared files (history, cookies, temp files, etc.) using Internet Options and Explore, disabled add-ons, enabled & disabled pop-ups, etc., all to no avail. He's even tried using it in safe mode but the same problems occur. He was able to download HJT which got rid of hggff.dll (Vundo?). He said he would try to email the hjt.log file tomorrow morning (tonight EST) and I will post it, if this will help to decipher the problem. Meanwhile, if anyone has a suggestion of what else to try I (and he) would greatly appreciate it!
He is using a Dell D610 laptop running XP-Pro on a VPN (required to get his emails from work).

If this is not the correct forum for this description please let me know.

Using a Windows98SE operating system and Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106.

When I look at a TECHGUYS FORUM Web Page that displays questions/problems/solutions "Error on Page" is displayed in the lower left corner of the IE Window. The following is always the detail information no matter what forum report page is reviewed:
Line: 3
Char: 1619
Error: Object Required
Code: 0
If I use another computer that sits in the same room with the same Operation System and Internet explorer this "Error on Page" does not occur.

I have searched all over for a solution and best I can tell this might be a missing JAVA Script.

If this is the case can you please let me know what script/object/file/application etc. is missing or requires an update and/or download?

Thanks for your time help and advice!!!

Getting the cannot display DNS error message at any website I try to get to. It appears that my connection is open because I use a router and my laptop works fine. Other programs (p2p stuff, virus updater, etc) that require net access also will not work. Not sure if this is an issue that can be helped with HijackThis, but the problem seemed to start happening after I used Ad-Aware for the first time in a long time, so I'm thinking spyware may be involved. If not any advice as to what the prob may be would be great, thanks in advance for any help! System specs are

I've never seen this error before. I've got a user that receives this error when printing to an HP5si onto A4 paper. They are located in the UK.

I received a copy of the file, margins are no less than .75 and no more than 1.0; paper size shows A4, I do not get the message when connected to an HP5m.

Any suggestions? Sorry that's all the info I'm getting from the user, even after requesting it.

In Windows XP, fully updated, I have several folders full of mp3's and want to see the bit rate and duration. I right click on a column heading and select "Bit rate". I then click on "More..." so I can get to "Duration", and I select that one too.

But all the figures in the "Duration" column appear to be in "hours" and "minutes", so I see "00:04" or "00:03", but what I want is "minutes" and "seconds".

Any thoughts as to how to change this?

Answer:Solved: Windows Explorer "Duration" Column - no "Seconds", just "Hours" and "Minutes"

I installed and uninstalled fruity loops (cause it wasnt working properly) and everything started going to shit. Im using XP Pro.

When i open internet explorer i get a "failed to load resource DLL" error message. When i click ok the program opens normally. This also happens when i right click on objects on my desktop.

I did a couple of virus scans and came up clean but when i tried to run auto update for norton it said i uninstalled it....which i didn't.

It also wouldn't let me play mp3s with windows media player, when i re-installed it it fixed that problem.

Anyone have any ideas what's causing this? Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:"failed to load resource DLL" error

Did fruit loops have a uninstaller?

or did you uninstall through add/remove

I get the above error message whenever I right click on a drive, file or folder. The dll is not specified. Google search came up with two other pleas for help regarding this error, neither of which was apparently resolved.
Upon clicking OK, Windows XP Home lets me perform the task ; move, delete, rename, properties or whatever.

Can anyone help me get rid of this annoyance?

whush, first welcome to MG. I had a long reply typed out earlier, but lost it somehow. Trying again. Go to Start--->Run. Type in SFC and then <enter>. You MUST have your Windows Operating system CD loaded for maximum results. SFC (System File Checker) will check out all files required to run Windows and ask for various answers (courses of action from you) to the problems it finds, Read and re-read the courses of action carefully. Answer "ignore" first time round, if you are not sure of the correct answer. Proceed slowly, with a clear head and no sources of interruption. This may clear your problem, but will certainly help in other areas, at least. Bazza

PS I use W98SE, not XP, so there may be slight differences. Baz

Evening partygoers,

So went to start up the ole pc and I received the "no bootable device, please insert blah blah blah"
Soooo put in the Win 7 ultimate disc and the computer does nothing except take me to the main Install Windows 7 page. I have clicked on "repair my computer", I tried 3 different restore points and those were a no go. I performed a chkdsk and a chkdsk /fC: and it came up with nothing.
I do not know if it has anything to do with the MBR so I didn't go that route (yet). Also Startup repair does not work as well. I can enter "safe mode" but all it does is take me to the Windows 7 install screen. If I try to "start windows normally" all it does is just take me to the windows 7 install page as well.
My device is an i5 with 4gb of RAM, the basic standard stuff.

I have put my hdd in a different drive and it works fine. audio/video files (my main concern). I am running a malware bytes scan and AVG anti-virus scan now.

More news on the homefront: malware came back with no issues and AVG picked up 2 java virus'. I had the AVG take care of the virus situation.

After putting my hdd back into its original computer the hdd is not being recognized. I guessed that this might happen. Keeping the updates coming so hopefully the symptoms will narrow down to the problem in hopes in can get resolved.

Answer:Can't load Windows with the "Error 0x800703f8"

Try to change the cable you are using to connect the HDD to your mother board. As you mentioned that this hdd is working fine on other PC.

I am using Windows XP Home Edition Pack 2

Recently I have needed to restore my system to a previous date, everything appears to work normally after restoring the system, EXCEPT when booting up I get the message Error "Unable to load Resources"

Below the message is an "OK" button. I click it and continue as all appears normal.

What does this message mean ? Should I do something about it ? If "yes" what ?

Answer:Error "Unable to load Resources"

I would think that this is a piece of software that runs at your startup.
You could try using a startup manager and disable all your programs that run at startup and see if it happens again.

If all good, enable each one, one by one until you find the culprit. Then re-install this piece of software and all should be fine (I hope)

A good simple startup manager is this one from Mike Lin (Free)

So here's the problem. I share my computer with my mother, who is going back to school. She wants to be able to log on to the website, but when she clicks on the "my tri-c space" link at the top, or types in it says "error on page" and displays a blank page.

Here's the strange thing...

This only happens when trying to access the page with her user account. When I log in with my user account and click on the link, or type in, everything works fine.

This is all very mysterious. It all started happening after I removed a malware infection. The details of everything I did are in this thread on

I have tried deleting her user account and re-creating it, but it didn't help.

Can someone please help me? (I hope this is in the right forum. It deals with internet explorer, but also XP user accounts, so I'm not sure).
