RAM frequency is lower than specified

Question: RAM frequency is lower than specified

I purchased an hp laptop and it shows the RAM as 4 GB SODIMM 1333 MHz.
The RAM specifications as given on the site are 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.
The laptop was given for repair at hp service center because the original RAM was defective according to what hp told me.

Is the new RAM same as the previous in terms of specifications ?
I am not as good at computer hardware so I'm sorry if you feel the question is very childish.

Preferred Solution: RAM frequency is lower than specified

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: RAM frequency is lower than specified

The RAM is likely 1333 able to be 1600 with O.C.

My one friend in Mexico had a similar issue with a Core i7 build that was only running at 1333. Maybe this article will help about the XMP configuration in BIOS to get it to 1600.

Hello, i noticed a strange behavoiur on my Elitebook Folio 1020 H9V72EA running Ubuntu 14.04.3 64 bit: The core-m processor wont maintain high frequencies during longtime high-load-scenarios (thats how it is supposed to work). But: - On battery power it constantly runs on approx. 1450 MHz- docked and on ac-power it drops down to approx.1250 MHz That does not seems to be right - anyone with windows having the same behaviour ? Kind regards, HPUser2k15

Answer:Longtime CPU-Frequency lower when on AC

I do find it odd, that when you're on AC power the CPU frequencies  are actually lower when they should be higher. I will say, I have some experience with HP Core M products and I've found they throttle quite often, even when temps are good.  I think it's a power limiting issue or TDP issue. It seems to be more prevalent on HP products than other OEMs.  It's extremely noticable when doing something like gaming, where the GPU and CPU are being hit hard.

hi

i would like to try lower RAM frequency and i don't know how.

in bios i can only find settings for memory latencies and voltage.

more complete description of my troubles may be found here: http://www.techist.com/showthread.php?threadid=29720

thank you

Answer:how do I lower memory frequency?

as i said i cant find any such thing in my bios.

i have found latencies in the advanced > chip configuration menu and all the frequencies in the advanced menu itself relate to the cpu

could it be hidden somehow? or called otherwise?

i can't simply see it.

I have a laptop with an AMD E1-6010 processor and DDR3L-1600 RAM. I want to upgrade my cpu to an AMD A6-6310, which has a supported RAM of DDR3L-1866. Can I keep my RAM, or will I have to upgrade that too?

Answer:Can I use lower-frequency RAM with DDR3L-1866 cpu?

I am not sure that it holds for your laptop but, it is usually regarded as impossible to upgrade the Processor in one without a Degree in Micro Welding

Well I was running a MSI mainboard and under pc wizard always told me I was running a constant 2666Mhz (currently 2666.67Mhz) had a Gigabyte G31M-ES2L installed and now it says 2666Mhz (currently 1999.92Mhz but mostly 2000.22MHz) I notice under load it jumps up to 2.6ghz. Is this like a power saver like how my new video card runs so much lower then listed on the box unless its under load? I mean my GPU card isnt great its a geForce 210 but it runs at a whopping 135mhz, is that kinda the same logic? Thanks!

Answer:Installed new mainboard, CPU frequency lower now?

Yes, its called Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology(EIST) and its meant to reduce power usage.

Hi,

I have a list of terms like:

Phrase Frequency
Hello Mother 5
Hello Brother 2
Hello Jackal 1

Is there a way I can get the cumulative frequency of each word in the list?

From the above example, the answer would be:
Hello 8
Mother 5
Brother 2
Jackal 1

Any help would be most appreciated.

Regards,

Robin

Friends: Whenever I open a new Google Chrome window the window opens small and is gradually moving towards the bottom of the screen. Soon it will disappear below the screen. How can I open it to be full screen and stay in the middle the screen? Windows 7. Thanks for any help.

Answer:Google Chrome window gets lower and lower on opening

In the upper right hand corner of the Chrome window are three small boxes, one of them being the X that you probably use to shut the app down. Click on the little square to the left of the X to toggle full screen mode.

About 1-2 weeks ago, I had 15GB of space left on my SSD that is solely committed to OS and drivers. Today, I have 2.9GB left. I have downloaded nothing, and I have changed nothing. What is going on? Any programs to help me take a closer look at why my SSD space is disappearing? I've had this OS for 2 months now and it wasn't a problem until recently.

I was at Goodwill yesterday and I found an ECS K7SEM v1.0 motherboard for $6. Assuming that it works, I wouldn't mind getting an AMD cpu and some RAM to get this going as a multi-purpose additional computer for my apartment.

The original intent of this board was for AMD processor running at either 100Mhz or 133Mhz FSB. The manual for the motherboard says that the RAM speed cannot be less than the processor FSB. For example: according to the manual, if the CPU has a FSB of 133Mhz, then PC133 RAM must be used and PC100 RAM cannot be used. If a CPU has a FSB of 100Mhz, then either PC100 or PC133 RAM can be used, but not PC66.

This manual was printed in 2001. However, in 2002/2003, a new BIOS upgrade was created for this board to allow support for Athalon XP 2100 and 2200 processors.

I was looking at an AMD XP processor at newegg and realized that the FSB is 266Mhz, according to the specs. I always get confused about FSB ratings. Are you supposed to divide this number by 2 with AMD chips? Like if the FSB is 266Mhz, should I use PC133 RAM to be compliant with the statement in the manual about using RAM that matches or exceeds the CPU FSB?

Another question I had is related to the new BIOS update that supports the newer processors. Would I need to use an old processor in order to update the BIOS before I can use the XP processor? Or will I be able to update to the XP supporting BIOS with the XP processor already in the socket?

If everything goes smooth... Read more

Answer:CPU FSB frequency and RAM frequency agreement, and BIOS CPU support.

When an AthlonXP is advertised with a 266mhz FSB, it is actually running at 133mhz but its DDR nature makes it run as fast as a 266mhz FSB. Any 266mhz AthlonXP should work on that board provided it isn't above the 2200+ ( 1800mhz ).

Occasionally i get redirects as well. I ran a malwarebytes quick and full scan and got nothing, a Microsoft security essentials scan and got nothing, and a adwcleaner scan and got nothing. I saw some other people had this problem, even on this website but they used combofix, which i'm not suppose to use unless told to. So yeah, hope you guys can help :3. Everytime someone calls the house, my computer connection is interrupted. I have wireless internet access and if the phone rings I don't get a signal. If I answer the phone and stay on the phone it works, it only goes offline for like a second and then connects back. The problem is that everytime this happens my MSN, AIM, and Google Talk all get disconnected and it's a pain to get back online and to have all the convos closed. I have a Dell Dimension 8100 Windows XP. The router/modem is from LinkSys {If that's what you call it. )PS: It doesn't happen to the other two computers in the house (laptops) only to mine (Desktop)

i bought 2x2Gb 1066Mhz memory modules from Kingston that are compatible with my Asus M4A78-E motherboard.

i have an overclocking software (ASUS Turbo V) that says that the DRAM is at 1.9V. is that equivalent to 800 or 1066Mhz?

if its at 800Mhz should i raise it to 2.1V to get it working at 1066Mhz?

Will there be a noticeable difference?

Ive changed this in bios with other asus mobo's but i cant seem to find where to change it in this one. The mobo is a asus A7N8X deluxe. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If ive left out any info that is needed please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help..

Answer:CPU Frequency

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

It sounds to me like your bios has been reset to the default settings, which will mean your fsb is probably set to 100mhz.

You need to go into your bios, and select the advanced tab, and then the advanced chipset configuration.

you will need to set the cpu frequency(fsb) to what ever your cpu should run at, I.E it will either be 133mhz/166mhz/200mhz depending on your cpu.

You can check your cpu specs at the AMD website.http://139.95.253.213/SRVS/CGI-BIN/...217292174,K=9272,Sxi=6,RESTART,DTree=OBJ(2132) Click on processor specs, followed by your type of cpu.

Question: OUT OF FREQUENCY

I have an old gateway EV910 monitor hooked up to a 1 year old computer - windows XP. After i am on the computer for a few hours - the monitor goes blank and a message pops up - "Out of Frequency" and the message shows my HF and VF frequency is lower than what the operating HF and VF  frequency should be. The monitor goes to stand by after 17 seconds. If I turn off the monitor and turn it back on - the same message pops up and goes to stand by again after 17 seconds. (It shows you the count down.) I then have to re-start my computer to clear it up. After running a while it does it again.

Answer:FSB frequency only 166. WHY?

Not all motherboards are capable of being overclocked. The motherboard will normally set the FSB and multiplier to the correct settings for the installed CPU. I assume your CPU is a 333Mhz FSB model hence it is set at 166Mhz in the BIOS. It would be 200Mhz if the CPU FSB was 400MHz.Unfortunately what you have posted above does not include what the mobo is.It tells me it is based on the nForce chipset and has a Phoenix BIOS.What mobo do you have and what processor do you have?

I am not certain why there's a substantial difference for idling CPU frequency between W8.1 and W7. My PC runs both OS in dual-boot mode, controlled by EUFI "F12" key. Other than both OS having it's own SSD drive, the hardware is identical.

Both OS used HWMonitor, v1.27.0, initially just to see the CPU temperature that lead me to the CPU frequency differences.

The HWMonitor for Windows 7 shows this:

The same for Windows 8.1 shows this:

And no, there isn't anything pegging the CPU, W8.1 task manager shows low CPU utilization around at the time the HWMonitor image had been captured:

The CPU speed/frequency is actually confirmed by the task manager. Is speedstep broken in Windows 8.1, or HWMonitor is not accurate?

HT = hyper transport (for AMD procs) dont mess with it unless you're overclocking your CPU. you're looking for the proper frequency for that processor, not the memory

I have been in the bios an the only settings are Auto or DDR226.

Is it one of the other internal components holding the speed back and the motherboard auto adjusts to the corect speed as I have heard this can happen, if so which one is it likley to be ?

Question: RAM Frequency

hi guys.. i am just confuse with my ram... CPUZ tells me that i have a PC3-8500F RAM w/c has a frequency of 1066 mhz but when i check the memory tab in CPUZ it says that my dram frequency is 399 mhz... What does this mean?

Answer:RAM Frequency

See the DDR table at http://hallicino.hubpages.com/hub/DDR1__DDR2__DDR3_Navigating_The_RAM_Maze .

I don't use CPUZ so I can't interpret where it got that 399/400 number. That usually applies to DDR2 modules, as you can see...or your RAM is underclocked currently so that it performs like DDR3-800. Memory Clock: 100 MHz. Bus Clock: 400 MHz. Data Transfers/Sec.: 800,000,000. Module Name: PC3-6400.

I'm just guessing.

Question: RAM Frequency

So I'm Using 8GB Of G Skill RipJaw X 1333mhz but whenever i go into any program that tells me speeds always says it's running at 667. IS that normal since i have two sticks and double that is about 1333mhz or should they both be runnning at 1333?

Answer:RAM Frequency

The programs that tell you RAM frequencies split the frequency in half (CPU-Z), because it's double data rate. So if you multiply 667 * 2, you'll get roughly 1333.

Question: Out of Frequency

Heya

I have this online game that I play(Asheron's Call) and I've played it for years on the same monitor(Gateway EV700)

My motherboard is Canyon, and my Graphics Driver is Intel (R) Extreme

Recently I had to format the computer and completely wipe everything and start from scratch. When I got the computer working again I reinstalled all the necessities(Internet Connection, Asheron's Call, Anti-Virus etc) but I forgot to install the Drivers. When I clicked on Asheron's Call(the game) to play it a black screen came up but instead of it displaying the game it displayed a small turquise box with a purple box inside it.

It read:

Out of Frequency

HF: 75.2KHz
VF: 75.0Hz

Operating Frequency
HF: 30(-)70 KHz
VF: 50(-)160Hz

Power save after 20 seconds.(this counts down to 0, unless I minimize the game, in which case the box disappears until i maximize the game again, in which case the countdown re-starts.If I let the timer run out, the green light on my monitor turns orange, and the screen goes on standby or whatever.then I have to turn off the monitor and turn it back on)
I talked to a friend of mine who said I should install my Graphics Driver(I hadn't done this yet) so I used the motherboard CD to install the Graphics Driver, and the game worked fine.

Now today when I try and play the game, I'm getting this Out of Frequency message again. Can somebody help me please?

I'm using True Color 1024x768 with a refresh rate of 75Hz.I've tried... Read more

Answer:Out of Frequency

It simply means that the game is trying to drive the monitor at a higher refresh rate than it can display.

The frequency error message comes from the monitor, not from the PC.

Without knowing anything about the type of monitor you have, we cannot advise what the maximum settings are. They are set by your graphics controller.

I have a i7 860 desktop (8 gb ram) which tends to freeze on one of the data applications that I run. Using the 'performance monitor' I discovered that the freeze occurs when the 'frequency' goes above 100%. At no point does the cpu utilization exceed 15%.

Several calls to the vendor have failed to resolve the issue or even educate me.

The question I have is what is this 'frequency' and two, why does it cause the application to freeze while the 8 cores are relaxing ?
Any insight is most appreciated and thanks.
Kumar

Answer:CPU Frequency What is it?

“% of Maximum Frequency” represents the current CPU clock speed as a percent of its rated speed. For example, if you have a 2.8 GHZ CPU and performance monitor indicates 28%, then the CPU is running at 784 MHz.

Here is a decent article that explains how performance monitor works: http://blogs.technet.com/b/winserve...cpu-utilization-for-performance-analysis.aspx

(It shows you the count down.) Question: CPU frequency help

I just received my new mobo. I recently had a Hard Drive problem that led me to believe the mobo was faulty.

After putting the parts together again, I recieve an error in BIOS.

"During the last boot-up your system hung for improper frequency combination."

I did not change any of the CPU settings and left them as default.
They are currently:
CPU frequency multiple - 15.0x
CPU external frequency 133/33
The rest is auto.

My specs are:
Athlon XP 2400
A7V8X-X motherboard
512 DDR PC 2700

I cannot get out of BIOS, every time I save and exit, it will not reboot. I have to restart and it sends me back to BIOS with the problem. I am not sure what to do about this.

Question: PCI Frequency

Hi, I was told when I overclocked the 2400+ XP-M the optimum setting for the PCI Frequency is 66. I don't know where that option is in my BIOS. Is it possible I just don't have this option? Specs below, MSI KT6V motherboard. I see where PCI Latency is but not a frequency , current latency is set at 64. Anyone got any ideas or thoughts for me? I don't want to get a processor I want to OC and not be able to cause I don't have a PCI Frequency option.

Answer:PCI Frequency

Question: AGP Frequency

Aright, this is mainly for you sithspawn =P At first I got all confused and thought it was the PCI Frequency and crap and yeah now I figured out the AGP needs to be set at 66MHz, theres no option in my BIOS to change an AGP Frequency, am I looking for the right thing? The only thing I could change would be AGP Voltgage.

When I run SiSoftware Sandra and do the Mainboard information, when I go down to AGB Bus(es) on Hub 1 it says:

Speed: 4x66MHx (264 data rate) I'm assuming its only multiplied by 4 cause my graphics card is only capable of 4x AGP. But anyway that 66MHz should be correct then right? Will it go up once I start overclocking cause it seems like it should just stay where its at right? Anyones help is much appreciated =)

Answer:AGP Frequency

Hi

It really depends on what BIOS you have. Generally, you are not able to change the PCI.AGP frequency. It will automatically change when you change the CPU FSB. For example, in my BIOS, the frequency page looks somethign like this:
...
CPU Host clock: [Enabled]
CPU Clock: [200]
xPCI/AGP Frequency: [37/75]
...
The PCI/AGP bit is blanked out so i cant change anything.

Basically, your AGP and PCI frequency WILL go up when you start overclocking. You need to be aware of this, because if you start up your computer and it doesnt actually start, or crashes halfway through start-up, you may need to up the voltage in your AGP slot, so that the overclocked frequency can keep up with everything.

Although you wil mainly need to up the Vcore voltage of your CPU (to maybe around 1.75) and maybe up your memory .1v-.2v. Of course, dont up the voltage at ALL unless you have an unstable overclock, and be very careful when you do. Upping the voltage is what will destroy your parts if done incorrectly.

Question: RAM frequency

Have noticed since changing BIOS battery and resetting defaults that my RAM frequency is set at 100MHz, and my CPU speed is also 100MHz. It is an 800 Duron. However the RAM is supposedly 133MHz, and lately the PC has not been behaving!Should the RAM run at the same spped as the CPU, or the speed that it is supposed to run at. Up until recently, the PC worked fine. The RAM has been in for a while and was replaced from Crucial using their memory selector, so it should be the right one

Answer:RAM frequency

The RAM may well be 133Mhz but if the PC runs at 100Mhz then thats as fast as it can run. What do you mean by misbehaving its not much of a description you know. Is it crashing or locking up or what. Also what is your operating system XP, ME or Windows 98.

I would use Knoppix (Linux) Live CD. It installs automatically (right settings).

Hi, Been working on the AMD model 13" and noticed that the CPU frequency never throttles down.  Everything set to default OEM build with WIn 7 HP x64, and tested with every power scheme in the list.  Ive been reading that AMD has the "powernow" technology to reduce the frequency (at least by half or so), and Ive never had problems with my intel models, so Im wondering is this an issue with AMD or Lenovo? I really dont want to have to do another clean install of Win 7 Pro on another HDD, but if that can solve the problem here, then I guess I have no choice.  Any ideas how to get the CPU to throttle down?

Answer:CPU Frequency set to max always, AMD

Well, I did some more research. There a similar thread regarding a Toshiba notebook here. Somebody pointed out this spec sheet, which shows that the L325 does not support PowerNow. I am bummed. I find it weird that this product is rated EPEAT Gold and Energy Star without supporting throttling. I am investigating further. :-(

Question: Lower Ghz on CPU

Recently had a complete failure on hdd which meant it had to be replaced. Replaced hdd and re-installed XP and all other things needed. Before failure 'dxdiag' told me that present cpu was at 2.08 ghz. After completing new setup 'dxdiag' tells me system is running at 1.7 ghz. Cpu is AMD K7 Athlon XP 2800+ and mbd is a K7N2 MS-6570 ATX with 400w psu. Can anyone tell me why this has happened and how can I bring it back up to 'speed' or higher? Any helpers out there pls?

Answer:Lower Ghz on CPU

Sounds as if your FSB is running at 133 instead of 166 (166 x 12.5 = 2075) (133 x 12.5 = 1662) check your mobo jumpers if present, or more likely your bios FSB needs to be set, look in your mobo manual for details.Ross

Hey everyone, I have a P4 3.2Ghz HT Processor which I overclocked to about 3.5-3.6ghz using a zalman 9500A cooler. Everything was great and the CPU was fine (temp was even cooler than before I overclocked it) and then  a few months later I opened PC Wizard 2007 and the program said my CPU, even though the FSB  Frequency was 880 Mhz and a Bus Speed of 220, that my actual (real) CPU frequency was only 3080.48 Mhz (3.0Ghz)! A few months ago I opened the program and it said I was at my 3.5-3.6Ghz... I went into the BIOS (I have an Asus P4P800S-X mobo) and my settings still said I had given it slightly more than a 10% overclock... but even the BIOS said my cpu was at 3.0Ghz...So is my CPU just old/fried or is the computer just lying to me? Any help would be awesome! Thanks guys!-Mr.Bond

Answer:Decreased CPU Frequency...

If you have had a power outage or the CMOS battery is weak that would explain the BIOS resetting to defaults which would nullify any changes you made...Another thing to consider is many board manuf. onboard utilities may not report OC'ing details properly...Travel Here for some suggestions on reporting utilities. Hey, I just received 2x 1gig sticks to put into my PC. Currently it is using 2x512mb as RAM. Now this new RAM has a frequency of 400mhz compared to the 200mhz on my previous stuff. My motherboard has space for 3 sticks of RAM, so the question I have is:

Should I put one of the previous 512mb sticks in with the new 2Gb or will the fact that the new stuff will then only run at half the frequency cancel out the extra RAM?

Thank you!

Answer:More RAM or higher frequency?

Putting a 512MB stick in will underclock your new RAM. I wouldn't bother. You will be best to have only the matched pair, as you won't have to underclock it, and it will put them into dual-channel mode, doubling your memory bandwidth. (Depending on your motherboard)

Plus two gigs should be sufficient for an XP machine with an average application load.

It doesn't matter how often you defrag, it won't strain your HDD.I defrag probably at least once a week because I use my system a lot.I also defrag after installing programs or downloading large files.Once a month is good enough, it really depends on how much you use your PC, and what for.

Im going to give u the same recomendations people on here gave me although they didnt solve my problem.

Wondering do you have a DSL connection?are your speakers shielded? If it's a DSL connection, contact your DSL provider and ask for an RF filter to be placed on your DSL line. If not, see if changing the placement of your speakers changes the effect. Also make sure that there isn't a source of EMF close to your speakers.

Hi everyone,I have been having this problem for a while now, and can't seem to figure out what the problem is. When I turn on my computer, I hear a high pitch frequency or feedback maybe. Not sure how to describe it. When I put my ear to the computer it sounds like it is coming from the CPU or the CPU fan. Also when it starts up the display is all messed up and glitchy looking. There is a photo of it attached here, but it doesn't always look like that, it varies greatly.  If I reset my computer three times after the first menu comes up, it fixes itself and comes up with a message that asks me to reset the CPU frequency. But I have reset it several times, it is at Default setting right now. My options when this menus comes up is Default or Last Known Good settings. Both do the same thing, since I have never messed with the CPU frequency. It's been at default since I've built this computer. Also after it finally starts up right, it runs fine, nothing is amiss, no noise or odd display problems. Question: Memory frequency

Hello,

Maybe somebody here can help me with this.
I've got four PC-3200 200Mhz DDR dimms installed but they seem to be working as PC-2700 160 Mhz. and I can't figure out why.

You can check out my CPU-z report. It shows all four DDR memory slots are pc-3200 200Mhz dimms, but the current memory frequency is 160.6 Mhz. And during pre-boot system check it displays memory as "PC-2700 Interleaved Dual Channel".

My motherboard supports pc-3200. Or that's what I thought.

Here are the specs on the ASUS P5GDC-Deluxe I'm using.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Answer:Memory frequency

have you checked your BIOS settings? when you install RAM bios automatically set up the minimum of required settings to your software. There is an option to change in Advanced Settings in bios.

Question: Memory frequency

Ive searched (a little) on other threads about this, but it's mostly about overclocking...i don't want that. I have a P4 1.6ghz w/400mhz bus....ive read that it really only supports pc2100 ram at 266 mhz...i put in 512mb pc2700 (333mhz) ram. It's showing up as only 480 mb (prolly cause its pc2700). I cant oc it to 333, cause it wont boot...

my question is, is this configuration ok (leaving it alone at 480 mb), or will it cause problems in the future?

Answer:Memory frequency

I'm guessing that the reason its saying 480mb is that the computer its on probably has 32 meg onboard video. but with out the specs on that particular pc its just a guess

On the nvidia 9xxx series uses the PCIe clock as a reference clock for the core. Read here. Normally overclocking the PCIe buss doesn't help any, though it can help if your running SLI and can only run each card at 8x. Also keep in mind that the PCIe bus is a multiple of 25. So: 100 x 25 = 2.5Ghz (PCIe 1.1 spec). Also overclocking the PCIe bus to far can cause data corruption on sata controllers that run off the PCIe bus. I normally run 120Mhz (3Ghz) just because. Though when not running in SLI it doesn't make much if any of a difference.

Good Morning,
My grandson has a game that has four discs called Tech Deck Dude, Bare knuckle Grind.
After installing them and hit play I get a black screen with the following message.
72K / 139hz. Frequency is out of range.
I am getting the sound ok.
This 'puter is running winxp pro sp2. 1800+ processor, 256mb ram. GEFORCE4 MX 440 Video card.

My other computer will run the game ok. That has the same OS & a 2500+ processor with 512mb ram & GE FORCE2 Video card.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong place - I'm not incredibly technical! My computer is the Windows XP version. I tried to change the screen area/display back to its original 1024 x 768 display. At first it worked, but now whenever I turn my computer on, it seems to be working, but then the screen goes completely blank and a message reading:'98.9 KHz/120.1HzFREQUENCY OUT OF RANGETRY OTHER RESOLUTIONS'Keeps flashing up. Because I can't see anything else, I tried to turn the computer on using safe mode, which worked. Problem is...I'm not aware of how I'm supposed to change the resolution back to how it was in order to get it back to how it was.And that probably makes no sense! However, if anyone knows how to sort it, I would be eternally grateful!Thank you in advance  Emily

My computer took a dump on me about two weeks ago. So,I took it to a repair guy and he did a bunch of stuff.Removed a bunch of programs, reinstalled windows, installed a DVD drive, added a second hard drive, another memory card,an nVIDIA card, and removed my iolo stuff and added AVG.(Said it was better)

Now,whenever I try to play a game, any game, even the free ones you download for Zone or any of the free sites. The game will attempt to start,(you hear the music) but the screen goes black and I get a colorbar and the message,Out of frequency range.I have tried changing resolution,256 bit color, disabling themes, you name it.But I still get the same message.Any ideas?

Answer:Out of frequency range?

Seems to be an LCD monitor problem, a CRT would probably work. Look to Windows Update and the monitor manufacturer for a fix or a driver update. Also might be able to fix by changing the monitors frequency/refresh rate. Start, Control Panel, Display, Settings, Advanced, Monitor, Monitor settings.

I have a problem with an Intel P4 CPU Bus Frequency, the processor is 1.9 Ghz/256/400 but It always stop at the BIOS settings whenever I boot the PC. I choose the frequency but it hangs all the time I boot again and the same thing continously. This is the PC I was fixing and was going to install Win XP SP2 to it but discovered it was not booting at all and decided to open the box and see if all the hardware was in working order. The whole PC was full of of dust including the heat sink and I've cleaned the whole PC of dust and it booted until it gave me that frequency boot error and I cannot Install XP.

Please help....

Thanxz

Answer:CPU BUS Frequency Error

Try replacing the CMOS battery on the motherboard.
The battery is probably dead and the Bios is not detecting the hardware properly.

Question: BIOS RAM frequency

This is a follow-up question to my previous Acer RAM mystery topic. I have two seemingly identical Acer T690 computers. One runs at 667 mHz with corresponding memory but the other is locked at 533 mHz. There is no setting in the BIOS to change this. Is there any other way to get it to work with the faster memory, such as a BIOS upgrade?

Answer:BIOS RAM frequency

Auto is the best choice. If  you have a choice.

I have just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows8.1 and since then I have a couple of issues: - When I'm on energy saving mod : I have CPU usage of 30% and CPU frequency of 130% spikesthe ventilation is always on and the computer is heating even if i'm not doing anything.   -When I'm on "normal" mode: CPU frequency is 130%  (constantly )  I installed all the drivers updated the system and even the BIOS ... but nothing ...  help !!

Answer:Z510 CPU frequency

sounds like an bug or windows 8.1 corruption when you made a upgrade from 7 to 8.1 if you just ran 8.1 upgrade rather than fresh install.

im playin tf2 with my new nvidia 7600 graphics card but when i tried to get on the screen goes black and a box appears and it says out of frequency and i cant see anything i can hear but i cant see anything from the game

Answer:what does out of frequency means?

The box is most like being created by your monitor saying that it can not support the operating frequency of the video signal being fed to it by the graphics card.

If the monitor only displays that message when you try the one game, the game may be adjusting the graphics card to settings that are not supported by the card.

Are all nic cards the same frequency?

Answer:Are all nic cards the same frequency?

If you only have one WAP, all of the clients connecting to it will be on one frequency. OTOH, if you have a lot of clients, you'll probably want more than one WAP, and they'd be on different frequencies.

Stupid question perhaps:

Just built my first custom PC a week ago, running great. But the memory I bought (512Mb Kingston DDR pc2700) says 333Mhz on the pkg, however the default setting or whatever is 266mhz. Is it perfectly safe for me to up the memory frequency to 333mhz in the BIOS or am I confusing that with something else?

Answer:Memory frequency....

Congrats on your first pc build. Glad to hear everything's running fine.

The memory frequency and cpu frequency are 2 different frequencies.
The PC2700 memory is rated to run up to 333mhz (166mhz x2)
but the default frequency in the bios is 266mhz (133 x2) since the default FSB is 133MHz and your cpu/memory ratio is 1:1.

You most certainly should be able to run your memory at 333mhz as long as your motherboard bios has that option.

There are 2 ways for you to overclock your memory through your bios. The first and most common way is for you to increase your FSB to 166mhz w/ a cpu/memory ratio of 1:1.

There also might be an option in your bios that gives you a cpu/memory ratio of 3:4 or 4:5.

Before you start overclocking your cpu and memory, you might want to check out www.overclockers.com and do some research or ask a few questions. We will be most willing to help you get started.

Question: Memory Frequency

I just have setup my new motherboard (ASUS A7N8X Deluxe) with Athelon XP 2100+. I set the external CPU frequency at 133Mhz with Multiplier 13X. Because I have 2x 256MB DDR400 (PC 3200) memory I set the memory frequency to 150%. But the output of the memory only shows 200Mhz. Did I setup anything wrong? Do I have to modify anything the maximize my use of DDR400 RAM? Also My memory test shows only 26000KB when I boot it up. Doesn't it have to show about 52000KB because I have two 256MB memory installed? Lost of questions, lots of answers please!!!

Answer:Memory Frequency

I am in the process of this to. I think it would be using a multiplier of times 2. I just set mine to 166 for 333ddr. gave me options of 133 for 266ddr and mine then 200 for 400ddr.

Hi, it's me again, new systems up and running great thanks to all your help. I was going through the manual, and I was wondering what the difference was between the front side bus and the external frequency setting. My CPU has a 333mhz FSB, I was wondering if I should have the frequency set at 133mhz or 166mhz. Thanks!

Answer:FSB and external frequency

166 is the correct setting for the system clock resulting in 333 for the system bus speed

Just a general question. Can a CPU be installed on a motherboard that doesn't supports its full bus frequency. For example, can the new Pentium 4 3.2Ghz 800Mhz system bus work in a mainboard that only has a FSB max of 533Mhz. Or is it true to say that this processor will only work on mainboard with chipsets that support 800Mhz bus speeds?

Answer:CPU bus frequency and motherboard FSB

I think that the chip will run on the board, but it wouldn't run at it's full potential (800mhz). Instead, it will just run at the highest the board supports, which is 533.
