Outlook Express Invalid Date/Time

Question: Outlook Express Invalid Date/Time

I have a problem with Outlook Express. When I delete emails I no longer want to keep (from Inbox, Outbox, Sent and any of my other Local Folders) and then run Scandisk it will frequently show an error (and sometimes more than one error). A typical error message looks like -

Window Heading - 'Scandisk Found an Error on Model 93 (C

The 'C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Express'
folder contains incorrect information about 'Sent Items.dbx'

This file or folder's last modified date or time is invalid or is in the future.
This may be because your computer's clock is set incorrectly.
ScanDisk repairs future dates by changing them to your computer's
current date setting. ScanDisk repairs out-of-range dates or time by
changing them to the nearest setting within the valid range.

Then there is a choice of three repair options - I always choose to
'Repair the error'

The folder in the error message varies quite a bit as does the '.DBX' file. An other frequent error folder is
'C:\RECYCLED\NPROTECT and this is followed by a DBX file with 8 numeric digits followed by .dbx (eg 00004188.DBX

I should make it clear my system clock is at the correct time, I rarely change the time and, certainly, I don't change the time when I'm using any program (including Outlook Express).

Anybody got an idea as to the cause of these errors? Thanks.

The problem is, let say i send email on 25 Mar 2005 and the time is 1.05pm.
But when the receiver receive the email, the email date shown is 26 Mar 2005 and the time is 4.25am. That mean the receiver cannot know the exact date and time i send to him.
And my computer date and time is no problem.
So anybody can give me advce for this problem?

Answer:outlook express error date and time

But when the receiver receive the email, the email date shown is 26 Mar 2005 and the time is 4.25am.Click to expand...

Does that happen with email from anyone but you?

The receiver (or you) should click the clock in the system tray and check to make sure the time and date are correct. And also the time zone. Other than that, it could be a server or the location of the server that is causing the problem.

Hi,

I have desktop with pretty old configuration (from 2005) which had been working perfectly till now, unless it started showing "CMOS: Invalid date/time setting" on every boot after switching on from mains.

If mains is powered on and only system is shut down and started, CMOS invalid date/time issues are no longer noticeable.

I have done this below steps so as to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Replaced the CMOS battery with new one
2. Clear the real time clock through jumper pins as provided in mother board user manual (ASUS K8N)
3. Loading with default values from BIOS and setting date/time through OS.

The above mentioned methods solve issue temporarily and the set information is getting lost when the mains is switched off.

Can anyone suggest what might be the problem?.

PS: I did not face this issue from past 10 yrs of usage even though I had replaced battery couple of times.

Answer:Invalid date/time setting on every boot

presuming that the problem is ONLY related to the Battery
check voltage with multimeter on OLD battery and new battery
generally 3V

if old battery is less - and new battery is correct - check contact for battery is clean usually small sprung type projection contacts base of battery
side contact to + is usually OK

That is the first job
those batteries must be 3+ t0 work 2.8 is no good
There is not gradual fade they are either specified voltage or they are flat as far as the system is concerned

Hello,

I've encountered a minor problem with my computer that started happening a few weeks ago. The date and time kept reverting to weird dates years back, and always to early times like 3 AM. Of course I thought nothing of it, changing it back to the correct time while also running several virus scans, all of which came up clean. Within a day or two however, it would always change back to its own date and time. Only very recently did I search for a solution to this, which was to uncheck syncing to the windows website or some other. Didn't change a thing.

As well as this, I've experienced a more severe problem that first happened a week ago. Upon opening my browser I was greeted with the message that Firefox doesn't recognize the security certificate...of Google. I soon found out that it didn't recognize the security certificate of any website at all. Ran a Malwarebytes scan. Clean. Ran an Avast scan. Clean. Super Anti Spyware scan, removed all the offending cookies. Yet the problem persists. At one point my taskbar changed to a Windows Classic style, and I have no idea why. As you can see, I'm pretty sure I have some sort of stealthy virus, but I could be wrong.

Here is the Hijack This log:

I believe I took in an update from Microsoft yesterday that addresses the fact that Daylight Savings Time is coming three weeks earlier this year than XP is expecting. Hi all,My outlook express 6, when i forward my email the date inside the original email date is changing today date. Actually this email received by last two weeks ago. If we forward the existing email inside sent items it have two dates, one is the old email's incoming date and another one is our current date. But all two dates is changing the current today right now date time. So strange! Is anyone have an idea please?Best Regards,Horace

Answer:Outlook express forward today date

horacetrever, suspect that what you need to do is c/p the fwd. into a new mail and send it rather than simply fwd. it. If you desire, put the original date in the new title. You will have today's date on the mail, but you can show the original date within the body of the mail if you'd rather. It also gives you the option to get rid of that annoying chain of fwd. addresses if you wish.HTHEd in Texas

I'm tracing my family tree, and have quite a few contacts now that send me data by email to Outlook Express. I have created a folder for each of them in my ?In Box? as a dropdown menu, but as there is now a fair amount for each person in each folder, I want to put all the emails in date order received,(and sent). Is this possible? If not, is there any way that I could transfer them easily to an external drive maybe? I do transfer the data to a family tree program on my PC, but I need to go back to individual emails at times so that I do not duplicate items that I have sent before etc. I try to cross reference by date order in the program. Any ideas would be very welcome.

I have been told by friends that when they receive my e-mails, the date line always says "2004", not 2005. I don't know why this is happening, but is there a place in my Outlook Express e-mail software I can change this or is it my computer doing this and if so, how do I change it so that the e-mails say 2005?

I use Windows XP if that helps.

Hi,

I have a situation where a new user has managed to set all 2000+ emails in their bosses inbox (in Outlook 2003) to Read - the boss is not happy. I have explained until I'm blue in the face that there 'may' be better ways to organise their emails...

Does Outlook record a time / date stamp for WHEN an email was marked as read / unread, and is it possible to filter by this so we can effectively select & set all emails not Read before a certain date back to UNREAD.

This happens when using Windows mail on my desktop (Windows 10) or through Outlook from my browser. I've tried both Firefox (my default) and Edge. Some problem all around.

If I create a new folder in Outlook and move emails there, the date/time stamp of these emails change to the date/time I created the folder.

Doesn't happen when I move them to existing folders though, only new folders.

Web,ac

Answer:Time Stamp is off in Outlook & Outlook Express

The date/time on received emails is taken from:

a) for the 'Received' column - the date/time it was received by the email server, not by your computer. If you don't connect to an ISP for a week, you still get the time they got it, not the time you picked it up.

b) for the 'Sent' column - the date/time that the sender put it in the outbox (taken from the sender's PC clock), so if I write you an email, click 'send' but then don't connect for a while, it will still have the time it went into the inbox, not the time it was actually sent out. Also, if my PC's clock is wrong, it will show the wrong time.

Does that explain the problem? Or is it more complicated?

Hi, 1st post after I searched topics for answer, but didn't find it.
so my outlook express is out of mind or out of time, because my computer's clock showing the right time, but my outlook marks messages sent/received (in present time) like 4 or 5 hours ago.

Say time now is 3 AM and email I send or recieve now will show 11 54.
so idea how can this be fixed?

Answer:my outlook express is out of mind or out of time

Usually it comes from the server. And it suggests a difference of 4 time zones. In 2003 around the end of December, I was getting email dated December, 2004. Eventually it was all straightened out by Yahoo!

If you are sure your settings are correct either in Control Panel (Time/Date) or by clicking on your System Tray clock, there isn't anything more you can do. Make sure the Time Zone is correct as well as your clock. For example, if I change the Time Zone from EST to PST which is 3 hours earlier and adjust my clock to the correct local time, all of my emails have a time of 3 hours earlier.

I have gotten this problem just recently. About 50% of the time that I try to load my Outlook Express, it shows the splash screen and freezes. I do not find the application running in the task manager, but I do find it in the processes. In order to get rid of it I have to kill the process. If I reboot It seems to fix itself, or maybe a couple reboots, I cannot remember. Either way, is there a way to remove OE and reinstall it or what else might I try?

Answer:Outlook Express 6 loads 50% of the time.

The first (since it's the easiest) thing to try is to scan for and remove spyware. Several flavors of spyware have been known to royally mess up Outlook Express.

To get rid of spyware, download, install, immediately update and then run Spybot and/or Ad-Aware. Read the help files to familiarize yourself with how they work. I recommend you use them both since each tends to find things the other misses. Let them clean up any spyware found.

Hello! My OE messages say they have been received at 18.30 when it is actually gone 23.00hrs. I have just sent an email to myself to check this and again it said it was received hours earlier. How can I correct the time on OE please?? My computer clock (on my taskbar) says the correct time ie now 23.51.
Thanks guys

Answer:Outlook Express/wrong message time

What version of OE are you using, if memory serves this was a bug in OE, however I though they had fixed it, although thats just because I havenīt heard about it happening for a while.

Receiving e-mail in OE, I have over 100 new e-mails. It usually stalls at some e-mail half way through and I get the error:

Your pop3 server has not responded in 60 seconds. Would you like to wait another 60 seconds for the server to respond?

I select No, and get

A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Account: 'pop', Server: 'pop', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19
My resolutionnow is to log into the webmail for my ISP and view the messages there. Then I'll have to delete all the spam I have. But what's also funny is I'll reboot, then it will get past that original e-mail but then stall again at a later e-mail. Example:

first time:

Receiving message 56 of 144 - then it stalls and get errors above.

REBOOT

Check mail. Receiving message 107 of 144 - then it stalls and get errors above.

Thanks!

Does your pc have Windows Messenger on it? Simply disable the Windows Messenger add-on browser extension, typically IE, and enjoy lightning fast opening of OE. Also set WM to not run at start-up or in the background. This applies to XP, perhaps other OS. I bet most of you knew this already tho.

Messages I send from Outlook Express appear in the recipients inbox dated 14 hours earlier than the date that I actually sent them. What makes it more strange is that the correct time is shown in the reams of code that accompany the message. My computer is set to the correct date and time. Can anyone advise what I can do to correct this?

Answer:outlook express time stamp problem

I haven't checked this, but maybe the time that is being seen as 14 hours earlier (BTW, is it the sent or received time?) is being set by one of the servers on the way (either the first one or the last one that it touches).

Good Morning,

Sorry if this is a dopey question, but I can't find a simple answer anywhere.

What is the definition of 'Open' for Outlook Express. The reason I ask is because when I initiate the opening of OE, within about 3 seconds I have had the Blue rectangle with 'Outlook Express 6' and then the Outlook Express screen opens, but nothing responds and there are no e-mails displayed for about 15 to 20 seconds then away it goes.

So, my question is, is OE opened in 3 seconds or 20 seconds in my case, and is 20 seconds a typical time, please?

Rob.

Answer:Outlook Express-Definition of Opening Time.

What's happening is OE is running your POP Server mail. You can turn this off in configuration settings if you only want it to download mail manually.

Hi, for a couple of weeks now, the first time I try to open Outlook Express from the quick launch tab after turning on my PC, it doesnt open. I sometimes see a quick flash of the blue square that normally comes up before the program loads, then nothing. I f click it a second time, it then opens properly. And after using it, then closing it, it will work first time, every time, until I restart my computer.

Any Ideas?

I have a user with Outlook Express 6 on a Windows XP machine. She can not always send and receive email. She does not get an error message. Outlook 2000 works just fine, but she would rather use OE 6. Can view messages on the Bellsouth web email page but hitting the send/receive button in OE 6 will not retrieve the messages. It works fine sometimes, other times not. Running McAfee VirusScan with current definition files. Ran Spybot to clear out any potential problems. Updated all software at Windows update site. The POP3 and SMTP servers are correct. Six other computers in the same office work fine. They access the Internet through a Cayman 3220-H DSL router.

Answer:Outlook Express 6 will not send/receive all the time

When it is not working, try to ping the mail server and if you get a reponse, I'd try to repair OE.

A user of mine is running Outlook Express on WinXP.

He accidentally set his time to the correct date, but in 2008, ie. one year ahead.

He quickly fixed the issue by setting the date back to 2007, but still all the received mails are stamped as if they were received in 2008.

Is there any way to revert this to a correct state?

This is a weird one.

I could swear (but am not 100% certain), that Outlook Express just randomly updated itself to a newer version on its own, without my interaction. This happened just a couple of weeks ago, shortly after I started using Firefox (ver 3.6.3) as my browser instead of IE. Outlook Express is now OE 6. I don't know what version I had earlier. Luckily I was able to find my OE folders on my hard drive, and retrieved all of my messages, however, my address book had disappeared forever.

Now OE will not show pictures in received emails. More specifically, the 'little red X's' only show when receiving mail from companies or the like. I've already been to tools/options/security/Block images and external .... - and neither way works. I can however, receive a picture from someone's attachment. If you take a picture with your camera or iphone, I get it. It's the logo's, banners, etc. from companies and what not that will not show up. This issue exists with 100% of received emails from any and every source.

At about the same time, the program Absolute Poker stopped updating, which it requires you to do once a week or so to continue using it. I play poker online as a source of small revenue, now I can no longer do this from my computer. I have removed the program entirely and reinstalled it several times, and every time when it tries to 'update', it can't. It tries to run 'liveupdate.ini', and only brings u... Read more

Greetings, and thanks in advance for your help..

Awhile back I formatted my Windows 10 PCs to show ddd dd-mmm-yyyy on my taskbar clock. This worked happily on my desktop and laptop for months, maybe even a year +

Now (probably starting in the past couple days, if not today), on one of those two PC's, this format will no longer display. It is Okay on the other PC.
What has changed that the taskbar clock space used to expand to fit the "short date" format, but now it will no longer expand - and instead just refuses to display the date at all. (NOTE: I've verified the issue by testing shorter formats -- short formats, like "ddd" show up correctly. Only if you request a longer format will the date not display - evidently because it is too long for the clock area. )

Additional Notes that may help:

* "Working" pc is running build 10586 PC with too small a clock space that won't expand -- Build 14393

*Other differences: Notification/Action center Icon is left of clock on the working PC - Right of clock on the non-working
Right- Clicking on task bar gives "properties" option on working PC -- But "Settings" option on the non-working

( I don't want to prejudice responses - but clearly the implication to me is that some recent OS update is most likely the culprit.)

Thank You

This means that the recipient cant see the new message (they will find it in listed as being recieved on the "draft" date). I have been unable to duplicate this error! I managed to screw up my XP Media Edition OS and couldn't access Windows. I Installed XP Professional and after it was up and running found that a file called "My Backup (date and time)" was created. I have been able to restore quite a bit of the files but I can not for the klife of me locate and restore the Outlook 2000 files. Where are they and how can I get them back?

Answer:[SOLVED] Does "My Backup (date and time)" contain Outlook PST files

What's the file extension (ending) of this "My Backup" file?

If you created it, based off the date and time it gives, you'll know what you created it with and we'd also like to know that so we know what the backup contains.

Are you saying you formatted (wiped) out a drive and you're now looking for files on it that you didn't backup elsewhere?

If that's the case, very dim chance of retrieval.

I've tried to send a delayed email using the "Do Not Deliver Before" function. Hoping the email would be date/time stamped when I wanted the recipient to receive the email. For example, sent the email on a Tuesday and scheduled the email to be delivered the next day (Wednesday) at 10am. The function did delay sending the email, but the date/time stamp was when I originally hit sent on Tuesday. What is the purpose of this feature if the date/time stamp will not indicate the date/time I wanted the recipient to receive the email?

When using this function, is there a way for the exchange to track the date/time stamp of the email when it actually leaves the Outbox instead of when you click send? I understand the exchange keeps track of the date/time stamp of when an email is sent, but why couldn't the exchange keep track of when the email leaves the outbox when using this function? Is there any exchange setup that will make this function work the way it is supposed to? Thank you

I'm sure this has been answered but I cant seem to locate it. Bought a new computer with Windows 7. Followed other recommendations and copied all email from my old computer (outlook express) to flash drive. Opened Windows Live Mail and went to File/Import/Message - Choose Microsoft Outlook 6 as format to import email from. Choose the file on the desktop that I had created and filled with the emails from the flash drive. Selected "all folders". It then imported all the various folders and emails from the desktop folder. Got the message that my folders were imported in Outlook 6 format. Clicked finished. Now comes the weird part. When I go to Windows Live, I cant find the folders anywhere. All of the Storage Folders are empty. Any idea where they are?

Thanks.

Hi All,
I am using LUMIA 1320 that has Lumia Cyan.
Sometimes the time and date is getting reset to a specific date, i.e. 22nd May 2014
Due to this all reminder, alarms and new messages are not coming in sync.
Is this a virus? Does it have come from an app. If that is the case then it questions Microsoft App policies...
Anyone who has encountered this issue and has done something to eradicate it let me know.

Answer:Why is my phones time and date getting reset to a specific date?

First, windows phone can never get a virus. Its the safest platform after iOS . And no, a particular app can't affect the system's time and date. I think your should try to manually set the time and date in the settings. And see if it works.

Wait for the more knowledgeable to report but a new CMOS Battery would seem to be in order.
Easy to replace and only £1, or so, to buy, in almost any Supermarket.
About the size of a 10p piece on the motherboard, with a number like CM032. Don't take it out until you are ready to replace it.
Get the replacement > Take the old one out > Instal the new one and, with luck, that should be it.

I am looking to set up a macro or formula that basically inserts the current time when a cell is filled SO:

when a2:a100 is populated with any thing then the corresponding C cell will be populated with the time.

AND

when e2:e1000 is populated wiith anything then the corresponding D Cell will be populated.

Currently I am using this macro.
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
If Target.Cells.Count > 1 Then Exit Sub
If Not Intersect(Target, Range("A6:A100")) Is Nothing Then
With Target(1, 4)
.Value = Time
.EntireColumn.AutoFit
End With
End If
End Sub

which works great for the A and C cells

but it does not work for the other one.. how do i add and modify this so all my needs are met.
I need another 2 sets of 2 macros accross the sheet for time entry.

I have a Date/Time field that I need converted to just a Time field.

It comes back with 2/11/12 0:00:00

I need just the 2/11/12

I thought about changing it to a text field but I think there will be an issue with the month because it does not bring back a 0 in from the months with only 1 digit.

This table that I am creating is being sent to a txt file and that is where I see the issue. It looks good in Access, but not the txt file.

Any suggestions?

Hi all!
Before I ask my question I just want to let everyone know that this site has been a great help.

So, I have a TextBox that needs to accept a date and time. Simple enough. However, the data that I need to collect has to always have a date and time but when I use General Date it will accept either Date or Time or both as its designed to do so.

I have tried setting

Format as " m/d/yyyy h:nn:ss ampm "
Input Mask as " 90/90/0000\ 99:00:00\ >LL;0;_ "

and tinkered with me.textbox.format() as an if statment

But this leads to the other issue that most of this data will be pasted into the form in either of the below formats.

7/19/2017 12:08:14 PM
Wednesday, July 19, 2017 12:08:14 PM

I'm stumped and haven't been able to figure this out through research or my own luck.

Any help is appreciated and thank you all.

Answer:General Date Forced To Have Date And Time

So.... I think I figured it out. Been testing it and it seems to result in the way i need it to. So I have the Form/Table set to Date/Time Field formatted as a General Date. This will at least validate that the information inputted in the text-box is a date/time of some sort. Then I added the below code to make it follow a validation rule of sort. So far it seems regardless of the way information is pasted in the end result is always MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM:SS AMPM
If Me.YourTextBox Like "**/**/**** **:**:** **" Then
Cancel = False
Else
MsgBox ("Please enter a date and time in this format MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM:SS AM/PM")
Cancel = True
End If
I'm still open to suggestions if there is a more efficient way of doing this. If not I hope this information will be found helpful to others.
Thanks All,

I am trying to install a USB 2.0 PCI card. The model is Koutech PU 520.

Here is a pic of what's going on. The two VIA Rev5 USB devices are for the original USB ports, the others popped up when I added the new card.

The problem is I can't install the drivers for the two exclamation points. The reason it shows the points is because no drivers are installed.

First I tried installing them off the manufacturers cd which did absolutely nothing. I'm not sure if they even installed because I got no confirmation. Once the install bar got to the end, the installed closed itself.

Then I went through Device Manager to do the windows driver thing. It would go through the install process but towards the end an error would pop up saying that the data is invalid .

I tried taking the card out and reinstalling everything, doing a system restore, searching google, checking for windows update, checking the manufacturer's site for new drivers (were none) and nothing has helped.

I bought it from newegg and in the reviews everyone said they didn't have to install the driver's off the cd because windows took care of everything itself, so I think the problem lies within my computer, and not with the hardware.

Can anyone help me?
