Need Internet Explorer & Outook Express Help.

Question: Need Internet Explorer & Outook Express Help.

I am building up a new computer and I want to be able to transfer my Favorites, my Address Book entires, and a number of EMails that I have in my current computer to my new computer.

I am using IE 6.0 and OE 6.0.

I know I can save my emails on a Zip Disc or a CD as .eml files and view them that way but I want to actually transfer them from my current computer to my new computer.

Can someone let me know what I need to to in order to transfer my Favorites, my Address Book entires, and my EMails? I need pretty complete guidance such as where to find the items on my current computer and where to put the items once I get them onto my new computer.

Thanks a bunch for the assistance.

Preferred Solution: Need Internet Explorer & Outook Express Help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Need Internet Explorer & Outook Express Help.

go to "Documents and Settings" directory then into your User Directory and you will see the Favorites directory and then just copy your old favorites into this directory.

I hope this helps.

if you go to tool/options in outlook, click on the tab "other" there you will find a tick box which allows you to enable or disable the "empty deleted items" message.if you want to set the send/receive to automatic then in the same options page click on the tab "mail setup". once again there is a check box which allows this action to take place when outlook is opened.harpur

I've been having problems with Outlook Express crashing and/or having problems that keep giving me an error message about the log file being too big or something. I keep my sent file folder and deleted file folder relatively empty. My inbox has less than 20 items in it, none of them huge. Can anyone tell me how and where I can fix this? If there is no fix, if I download a new copy of Outlook Express over the old one, will my address book reamin in tact? Thanks for your help.

Answer:Outook Express - log file problem

Try some maintenance first and see if this helps to clear it up.
Close all programs except Outlook Express, including any antivirus programs you may have running.

First in OE, Tools>Options>Maintenance, uncheck the option for: Compact messages in the background and leave it unchecked from now on.

File>Folder>Compact all Folders. Leave the computer alone until it has completed compacting.

Let us know if this resolves the problem or not.

Hi Everybody
My OS Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600)
MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106)
I use a dial up connection and get a max of 50 kbps. (Living on an island in the middle of the indian Ocean - this is a luxury!!)
I have taken a bit of time to read through the earlier problems mentioned here and found my problem a bit unique (I hope So!).

My problems started a while ago. I have Win Xp Pro. with all updates available. About a month ago i noticed that everytime i opened Outlook express, Norton anti virus window would automatically pop up and send an email out - though i have not had any mail in my outbox or drafts folders. It is to be noted that my license for NAV has expired but i get the updates from the IT dept. on a CD and i update (I think Symantec would consider this illegal!!). Further, when i open my IE browser, everything is fine. When i do a search and then open a search in a new window - invariably there is a delay before any icon on the desk becomes active - even if i wanted to close or maximise the window - no luck. It would just freeze and take a while before anything happens. Now before this i had KazaaLite installed and then had Kazaa MD installed - i learnt later that they get installed side-by-side. Never knew actually. Now i went ahead and updated to the latest Ver of KMD and then i noticed quite a few other additional programmes installed. So Uninstalled the whole lot - incl KLite. I then end up with a Wupdater.exe fault window pop-up a... Read more

My best friend has a Gateway computer that I sold her about three years ago. Windows XP home edition. I helped her set up Outlook Express for her email. Her email works perfectly fine EXCEPT if anyone includes a link via email (even though it's a clickable link), when you click the link, nothing happens. I went into the settings of Outlook Express and everything is set up correctly (just like mine). I tried everything I can think of and the links will not work if you click them at all. Does anyone have any idea why? Thanks

OK running Internet explorer you can click on 'Tools' the 'Internet Options' then the 'Programs tab' to access a location with drop down lists of program that can be used as defaults for your Interent explorer. Like Email.

I have a person that IS Using Outlook Express for all of her Email, and has been using it for some time, but when I go to the "Tools, Internet Options, Programs, and access the drop-down list for "Email:"" the only Mail program available is Outlook.

She does not want to use Outlook, and claims that when she does, it resends ...EVERY Sent email... Again.

Why is Outlook Express NOT in the drop-down list to allow it to be set as the default Email for Internet Explorer?
How can I add it or at lest set it to be used as the default Mail program?

Answer:Internet Explorer/Outlook Express

mine shows several options - but not Outlook as it's not installed

could try uninstalling outlook (and hope IE then looks for another email client)
and/or
check the OE settings (tools, options, general) is OE listed as the default mail client at the bottom of the tab window?

I have Outlook Express set to read and send emails in PLAIN TEXT, but when I copy stuff from a website for example it pastes it in exactly like it was. How do I fix this?!

Example: Someone sends me an email, I click reply, I open up Google.com and copy this from the bottom of their website:

Advertising Programs - Business Solutions - About Google
?2005 Google

--- notice here it pastes it as plain text. I want that for Outlook Express, but instead it pastes it as blue text with underlining just like on the website. I hate that.

Hi, I have a problem with Outlook Express & Internet Explorer acting erratically lately. When I try to scroll on the side bar arrow it moves real fast to the bottom and all buttons I try to click in the tool bar also are acting erratically in that sometimes I have to click two or three times (ex: clicking the delete button etc.) . It does the same thing while in Internet Explorer. When trying to scroll in that I am unable to scroll as it moves quickly to the bottom of the screen no matter how slow I try to go. I have smooth scrolling checked in the options box and this just started happening all of a sudden. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer:cant access outlook express or internet explorer :(

When did the problem begin and have you tried doing a System Restore to repair it?

Start > run msconfig > Launch System Restore.

If you go to the Control Panel > User Accounts and create a new User Account, does the same problem happen in that account as well?

If you have broadband you can also test by starting in Safe Mode with Networking support and choose the built-in Administrator account rather than your normal account.

You can also test in Safe Mode with Networking support using your normal profile to see if there is a 3rd party conflict causing the problem rather than a damaged user profile.

Make sure the "dial whenever a network connection is not present" box is not checked. Then highlight your default connection in the same box, properties, settings, security tab, and also make sure "connect automatically" is not checked.

Hi,

A little while ago when I turned my computer on and loaded up Internet Explorer, I got the "This Page Cannot Be Displayed Message". At first I thought it must have just been a connection problem, but I found that other web applications still worked.

Outlook Express also stopped working. (The program itself worked but it just couldn't connect to the mail server.)

I hadn't installed any new software and the only firewall I had enabled was the Windows one.

I got a copy of Opera and installed it and that is what I am still using now to browse the Internet with. I would really like to go back to Internet Explorer though but just don't know what the problem is.

I have just downloaded Internet Explorer 7 and installed it but that also didn't work and neither does Outlook 2007 which I have also just installed.

All the other Internet applications work perfectly and I just cannot figure out what is wrong.

If anyone has any ideas of what the problem could be, then please could you let me know.

Thank you in advance.

We have been having problems with both Internet Explorer & Outlook Express not working. I ran spybot lastnight and it found quite a few things. I can't remember all of them but one was the virtumonde trojan. I then ran the malwarebytes program and it eliminated the problem. Now when I try to open Internet Explorer it kicks out and says it cannot open the page and asks if I want to save it. I just close out of it. If I hurry and click the red x button I can click Internet Options but I get the message that the operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Outlook Express will receive email but you can't open any of it because it says it's out of memory. Hi,We're running Outlook Express 6 and Internet Explorer 7. When we receive an e-mail with an attachment the print is condensed on to one page and the text becomes almost unreadable. It also loses the header details of the e-mail i.e. From/To/Subject etc. This only happens when there is an attachment(s)to the e-mail, normal e-mails print fine.I understand that Outlook Express picks up the font settings from Internet Explorer but the settings are fine at "medium". There doesn't seem to be anything else to check. Am I missing something? Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Answer:Outlook Express 6 Printing Internet Explorer 7

This might be worth a try but it may be an unconnected issue.IE7 has the facility to always print a page to fit the paper size. If IE7 is reading the attachment in that way it could resize it.It may be worth a try if you choose the drop down menu from the print command icon select print preview and the default will be shrink to fit. try different settings.

Answer:Problem with internet explorer and outlook express

As it turns out, I went into ie and changed settings back to default and now all is well. However,i know that i did this before and it didnt work.
So the solution was a combination of re-installing vbrun, re-installing regsvr32 urlmon.dll via the run program and changing ie settings back to default.

Thanks very much for all the help.

My mother has a portable PC that came with Norton Internet Security and had a Tiscali dial up through Internet Explorer. When the Norton expired I bought her a CD version. The update was massive so i connected her computer to my broadband but now, although her dial up internet connection will work, her Outlook Express cannot find where to connect to the internet. I have downloaded instructions on how i should make this work; I have been into Tools, Accounts, Properties and it has the correct entries for incoming mail and outgoing mail, POP3 etc. The a/c name is correct, as is the password. It has the correct connection identified in the properties box and I've checked other boxes are not incorrectly checked. Yet still it says that it cannot identfy the POP3 server. Any ideas?

Answer:Linking Outlook Express to Internet Explorer

I'm not clear why you're trying to link Outlook Express (used for receiving and sending email) to Internet Explorer (which is where you read web pages).HOW have you connected your mother's PC to your broadband? As hers seems to have only a dial-up modem it may need other hardware to do what you are trying to do.

Hi. I have windows 98SE and I am using Internet Explorer-version 6.0.2800.1106IS. I have reviewed many of the postings that are out there regarding this problem and have tried many of the fixes, but I still cannot print from Internet Explorer or Outlook Express. I have a HP895cse Printer. I was having the problem of not being able to get updates using Windows updates, but one of the fixes I did fixed this problem. Some of the advertisements as displayed above on this page just say Action Canceled. I was getting the message Incompatible version of the RPC Stub, but I don't get that anymore. I have run Spybot and Adaware. I am trying to avoid having to reformat my harddrive, so if anyone can help, please let me know. Thanks. Mark

Running win xp pro w sp1 and I have run updated antivirus and several antimalware programs in the hopes of fixing this problem but its still here. When i am on the net and click on a link to go to another site it starts to go to the other site but stalls at a white, blank page. I cant even get out of it, cant right click and close it, its just stuck there. The only way to get rid of it is by using task mgr and then "end task" feature. Same thing with outlook express, i click on a link to another site the same thing happens as noted above.Sometimes i can cut and paste the link but i cant just click on it, end up with a blank white page that i cant get rid of. Sometimes the system freezes right up. I can move the mouse around but i cant close anything i have open, nothing. I can open new pages and new folders though. I am running avg a\virus and antimalware, along with spybot and other such progs. Internet is explorer 6 and i am running zone alarm pro, peer guardian. I figure its maybe a setting somewhere but i cant find it or its malware of some type, but cant do any better than that, cant isolate it. Few days ago i tried using "system file checker" but i had to close it because it asked for my win xp pro cd, i put it in both optical drives and i I got a message saying i used the wrong cd. I didnt use the wrong cd as i only have the one. I dont know if this sfc problem relates to the one i am talking about or not. One other thing. Sometimes, the first time ... Read more

Answer:Problem with internet explorer and outlook express

It may or may not be part of the issue but when a program like SFC is interrupted at any point it can cause issues...The XP CD was said to be the wrong one because you have probably ran updates on that machine in the past and for Windows to run SFC properly it is looking for an XP CD with the same service packs you have currently installed. So let's say you have XP updated to SP2 and your CD was XP with SP1...it won't run.The versions need to match as well in other words you can't use an XP Home CD to run it on an XP Pro machine...Find out what Service pak you are up to and try and locate a CD with the same on it. It won't matter if it's someone elses you will still be able to run SFC.In the meantime post back with what type of internet connection you have and also go to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager and see if any devices have a yellow exclamation icon next to them...Good Luck and Welcome to CH !

Answer:Uninstalling Internet Explorer and Outlook Express

Internet Explorer is integrated into your OS and is supposed to be impossible to uninstall without damaging the OS.

There are some programs, like IEradicator, that claim to remove it, but I don't know if they are safe to use or even if they work. In any event, you will need IE to get to the Windows Update site and, perhaps, a few others you really want/need to use.

Because IE is part of your OS, it is vulnerable even when not in use, so what you need to do is turn off all the dangerous bits, like ActiveX and cross domain scripting, and transfer Windows Update and any other sites you must use to the Trusted Zone.

Details here;https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/btw/ie/ie-opts.htm

I don't know anything about Outlook Express because I've never used it but, as far as I know, you can uninstall it, once you've arranged to copy over whatever you want to keep. A Google search on 'uninstalling OE' should provide more help.

If it is an ie/oe prob try taking it back to an earlier version; add/remove, hit delete, choose revert to ealier version, reboot. Also the repair option rarely works but is worth a try.

I use Windows 98SE and am running Internet Explorer 5.00.2614 and Outlook Express 5.00.2615. If I upgrade IE/OE to version 5.5 or 6, will the upgrade overwrite or delete any or all of my data like Internet history files, list of Favorites, messages stored in Inbox/Outbox, Cookies etc, etc, plus the settings shown in Internet and Outlook Options? Or should I expect the upgraded versions to "inherit" all the data and settings from my present versions?

IE6 opens thro Freeserve Anytime and all appears Ok. When I click "Read Mail" Outlook Express opens up. Mail is received and then immediately disconnects me from the internet. I then have to redial in seperately to get back to Outlook Express or to ISP. Any help would be appreciated.

Try this - in Outlook Express go to the tools menu and select 'Options'. On the Connection tab, look to see if there is a check against 'Hang up after sending and receiving', and remove this if there is.

So, a client is running XP Home Edition (SP3) and uses Outlook Express 6 as his default e-mail application. Internet Explorer 8 is his default browser. IE and Outlook Express both run fine. The issue is, when he clicks a link in an e-mail message, IE8 opens up, displays the page, and the "iexplorer.exe" process does NOT exit after closing the IE window. As a result, "iexplorer.exe" process accumulate over time and eventually, clicking links in e-mail messages doesn't result in IE displaying the requested page.

Now, if I run IE8 manually, "iexplorer.exe" processes (2 I believe) are created and when I close the window they all go away.

If I make Google Chrome the default browser and I click a link in an e-mail message within Outlook Express 6, Chrome opens and displays the page. When I close the Chrome window, the "chrome.exe" processes go away, as expected.

The only time the problem occurs is when enough links are clicked in e-mail messages in Outlook Express 6 with IE8 set as the default browser.

If I manually kill all of the "iexplorer.exe" processes, I can click links in e-mail messages in Outlook Express 6 and they open in IE8, as expected. Then, I close the IE8 window and the accumulation starts again.

The system is free from infection and has Microsoft Security Essentials installed as well as Malwarebytes Pro.

Any ideas on what could be causing the "iexplorer.exe" processes to remain loaded when effec... Read more

Hello,

I had been getting rid of the SearchX program by using CWshredder.exe and I may have deleted one file too many.

Now whenever I want to access hypertext on the Internet, I am not able to activate the Javascript, and it states Javascript:... at the bottom of my screen.

Another problem that has occurred on my computer is that before, I used to be able to view Email captions on my Outlook Express, but now when I go to view an email, nothing shows up on my Computer.

I am using Windows XP, and I think that I deleted some sort of driver that is related to the Javascripting on my computer, but I am not sure.

Does anyone have any advice on how I should go about to repair my computer????

With Thanks,

I have two problems which may or may not be related:-

1) When I go into Outlook Express the modem (its Broadband) does not automatically connect. This is remedied by going into My Computer & connecting via the Dial Up option. This then gets O.E. to receive any mail. How can I get this problem resolved?

2) The second problem is the more serious. Every time I try & launch Internet Explorer I get a pop up window that informs me that I.E. has to close. It offers to send me an error report which is long & full of what looks like hexi decimal code. Is there a simple way of correcting this?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Howdy. I hope someone can help. Awhile ago, I accidently downloaded auto windows updates of SP2 which I did not want to do. My problems with IE and OE (Have windows XP HOme edition) constantly freezing and closing out with error reports started then. It's getting MUCH WORSE AND MORE FREQUENT. I have resisted and not downloaded any more SP2 auto updates since.

I do virus and spy checks daily--no problems there; no new software recently installed.

Do I need to be doing these persistant auto SP2 updates now? Will that solve this problem? Thanks soooo much for any help!!

I suppose you could uninstall SP2 and then order (free) the SP2 disk from microsoftts website and then install SP2 once you have run all the ware you can to clean up your hard drive and diskscan or scan disk and defragment your hard drive.

You get a better install that way if you use the CD and get your hard drive in order as best you can beforehand.

Hi,I have been having problems for about 2 months now. I have a HP Pavilian, OS Win98seInternet Explorer 6 is slow to download pages. strangely, having a second window open and repeatedly refreshing it seems to kick the unresponsive window into action. Scroll down to the URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocols, click advanced, click edit and make sure the following is in the application used to perform action box:

”C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe” -nohome

The same applies for URL:Gopher

DDE should be set to: “%1”,,-1,0,,,,
Application should say: IExplore
DDE application not running should be blank
Topic should be: WWW_OpenURL

Run each line individually. Start – Run then type

Hi,Recently my laptop decided not to receive emails in outlook express anymore. I have checked all the email server settings etc and they are fine. I have noticed that internet explorer has stopped working as well. Both of these failures happened at the same time. I can still get internet through mozilla firefox, which is my normal browser. The diagnostic programs attempt to fix it failed. I downloaded a winsock fix which i got from a site on google, and this also failed to solve hte problem. I'm hoping someone can help. Sunday morning I did my usual ... checked my email, played Earth 2025, surfed the net, downloaded some stuff, disconnected.

A few hours later I connected again and opened Outlook Express but it wasn't downloading messages. It says "Checking Mail" in the taskbar, however, nothing's downloading even after 10-20 minutes. No time outs, but when I click on "Send/Receive Mail" it's showing the animation. I've actually managed to send email, but only through Internet Explorer using the "File, Send ..." method and I don't know if they got through. I do know they went out though. After this I opened a browser and it took about 3 minutes for Google.com to come up.

Since Sunday the speed has decreased so much that it now takes a min. of 5 minutes to a max. of 15 minutes for a page to load in IE. Hubby's and my computers are networked and he's having the same problem. We're both running XP Home and we have a DSL connection.

I thought the problem may have something to do with a cleanup I did on my registry or something I'd installed recently so I did a system restore back to Friday. No good, still the same!

Having heard about W32.Blaster.worm, I spent about an hour getting to Symantec's page on it and onto the download page for a fix program just in case. Nope, no Blaster! No other viruses for that matter either, according to Norton's 2003.

Hi, My MS Internet Explorer from Comcast no longer recognizes Outlook Express as my default email, it no longer lists it in the options. I can open Outlook Express only by its seperate icon. I can open the email program in IE that Comcast provides but I used to use OE and would access it by clicking the mail icon in IE.
Perhaps related, my Norton Antivirus keeps telling me it cannot protect my Email because it cannot find my email or the TCP.
All strange because my email in OE works fine when opened from its icon.

I was told to reload IE by going to MS downloads?
Any help is welcome;
Thanks, BOB

If I am in Internet Express and there is a message with a URL in it I click on it and all that happens is MS Explorer comes up with the centre blank and I notice to address in the address box and thats it. By themselves both Express and Internet work OK.I tried Outlook and thats the same only with the added fault that it will recive but wont send, puts an error up saying 0x800ccc0d what ever that means.Downloaded Netscape7 that works Ok gets me into the URL from its E-Mail side, except like MS express it wont let me send mail says there is a proplem with my SMPT settings but they are the same as express and outlook, yet express sends OK.Must be a onection some where.Down loaded a new MS explorer 6 still the same.XP checked for Virus Ok check also with ad Aware OK.

hi, I;m new here.

when i try and send a page via email using IE 6 I get dialogue box for Microsoft Outlook but I want to use outlook express. I have OE set up as default mail but can't work out how have IE use Outlook express

THanks in advance

Rhodo

Answer:Internet Explorer 6 send page by email can't use outlook express

With IE 6 open go to the tools, then internet options, then programs, the bottom says internet programs, choose set programs, default programs opens and a pop up asks if you give permission. the last option is set program options and computer defaults, the last option is custom and the drop down arrows are on the right. the drop down and the middle option allows you to set a default email. i selected windows mail which seems to have replaced outlook and works the same way, i dont know if its a n upgrade.
good luck

I have a damaged install of Outlook Express that I am unable to repair. I've tried to reinstall, but am unable to do so. I've tried rolling back Internet Explorer 7 to 6, but am still unable to reinstall OE. I have an IE6 setup file, but it cancels out after reporting that I already have this version.

Is there any way to remove all traces of IE and all versions of OE to start fresh?

I purchased a new computer and I am also changing ISPs. how do I move my favorites and address book from AOL on my old computer to Internet Explorer and Outlook Express on my new computer?

Answer:Help moving favorites and address book to Internet Explorer and Outlook Express

For Favorites, export them from IE on your old computer and then import them on the new computer.  You'll find the Import and Export command on the File menu of IE.  For an AOL address book, I'm not sure.  I'd search for an export feature and see what options it gives you for exporting.  If it shows .CSV file as an option, that should work.  Now, there might be a better option; I can't say since I don't use AOL.

Question: outook calendar

Bought a new laptop, took my Office 2000 Professional to be installed, instead he put on another Outlook. I installed Outook 2000, removed his program and now I get an error re:pst file. Any idea why I can't send/receive mail?

Question 2: My three year old laptop worked fine until the power cord somehow pulled the plug-in from the motherboard. Repair shop kept it for three weeks, said they soldered it several times and it wouldn't hold, so they sold me a new one. Did I get ripped off or is it next to impossible to fix?

Thanks so much for any advice given,
PattyB

Answer:outook calendar

Hello and Welcome to TSF

I cannot answer your first question, there is not enough information to go off of. You need to post a complete error message and when you recieve this error.

As for question 2, yes you can solder those connections back on to the motherboard but sometimes they dont hold as they stated. You may just have had a unexperienced person do the soldering, hard to tell.

Hi

I always keep a backup of my Outlook .pst file just n case I need it...

Just doing a back up and notice that the files do not have any association linked... I am sure it used to show the Outlook icon but can't be sure... can anyone confirm this.. I did try to link to Outlook but is failed...

This is what I mean...

This is what I get when I try to associate it to Outlook... Which seems odd... unless it is because Outlook is open?

Answer:Outook Office 365 .pst

Mine have the Outlook association, I'm using the Office 2016 package rather than the Office 365 but should be same.

I would advise you use the installer (uninstaller - Change), to do a repair rather than manually setting the association as the Office associations are not standard

Afternoon to you all.I am using Outlook 2010. If I click a link contained in an e-mail I get the following message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator" I am useing a personal laptop, Win7 and I am logged on as administrator. Any ideas anyone?ThanksBill

Answer:Help using Outook 2010

If it is only that one Email, I would guess Outlook classes it as a security risk/virus/trogan and will not allow it.You could check the security settings (may be set too high)or if it is an attachment, you may have to save it first, before trying to open it.Terry

I looked around and for some reason I can't create a email template in outlook 2007.
I found this:

Save the email as a template. Select the "Office" button, and then "Save As" in the "Save as type" drop-down list. Select "Outlook Template." Give the template a name, and choose a file location, or accept the default folder of "Templates." Click "Save."

BUT there is no option in the SAVE AS drop down menu for Save As Template....

Answer:Can't create outook template

HiI don't use Outlook. However I do use other Office applications. When I want to save a Document or Excel Template I click on File on the toolbar and select Save as.In the dialog box that opens, I click on the down arrow at the end of the box that says Save as type and this gives me the options to save the file as a template (amongst other things).

I've just ordered Outlook Office 2007 which has Outlook 2007 included. However I've just thought - I have activesync 3.8 which works perfectly with my PDA (HP2210) at the moment. Will installing Outlook 2007 cause any problems?

Answer:Outook 2007 + Activesync 3.8

I do not know if you will have problems but in any event it would probably be better to bring Active Sync up to date - it is v4.5 now.

I finally ditched Outlook for my emails and went with Thundrbird, which looks like a great program. However, I still have to rely on Outlook for the Calender and Tasks features. I looked around a little, and found Lightning, but the reviews where not completely supportive. And I would like to have it integrated in my email client, so Sunbird is probably out.

What are others using? Likes and dislikes?
Thanks

Here we go again - another problem with Outlook, but this time I think it is Yahoo UK (please note UK):

I have had 1 email acct with gmail and 2 email accts with Yahoo UK. They have worked fine until a few days ago. When I try send/receive one Yahoo account came up with error 0x800CCC92. I finally removed it and when I tried putting it in as new, the test message would not work. After repeated attempts, I now can send for some reason, but for receiving I get:

Log onto incoming mail server (POP3): Your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings. The server responded: -ERR (AUTH) Incorrect username or password.

I can access my email on the web for that account with no problem. All of the settings are exactly the same as the Yahoo account that works and I still cannot get the incoming to work on this one.

Any ideas?

Answer:Outook 2010 ERR (AUTH)

2 days after this post, Yahoo sent & received with no problems and I did nothing to make that happen. All was fine until today - it is happening again!

I am operating on Windows 7 OS and am having difficulty with Outlook for Office 2010. It always asks for a password each time I sign on and when I open an email. For some reason it doesn't store my password.

Answer:Outook 2010 always requires password

That problem is by no means unique to Outlook 2010, it happens also on Outlook 2007 and on the version before that, and neither is it unique to Windows 7.

Try putting your POP3 server name and password into the "Credential Manager" in Control Panel. For good measure I entered my email credentials twice -- in "Windows Credentials" and in "Generic Credentials". I hardly see that pesky password prompt since doing that.

Hi.. I have a number of Outlook pst files from different versions of Outlook and I want to be able to read and extract emails into a new .pst file for Outlook 2003 (or a number of .pst files as I have a lot of emails going back some years!). I also want to extract all contacts into a .csv file so I can transfer them into various other address books such as Outlook Express, XING etc. Anyone know of a really excellent application that will allow me to do this? Thanks Richard

Hi. Out-of-the blue, I can't delete messages in my Microsoft Outlook 2000 inbox. If I click on delete, I get "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists retsart Outlook". I am running Windows XP and have tried a System Restore and have also repaired Office 2000 using the original Office CD-ROMS without success. I'm starting to think it may be virus-related. Any ideas or feedback would be appreciated.

I created a database in Access 2007. I am a relative newbe at this. One of the functions that I am using is a macro that Microsoft supplied as part of a Contacts table/form template to add Contacts from Outlook to the Contacts table in the the database. It was working just fine until I split the database, putting the tables on a server and the front end on my local PC. After splitting, it will no longer work. I have spent hours searching the Web and found 100's for people asking the same question, but no solution. Front and back end files are all in Trusted locations. Went back to a copy of the pre-split database (which still worked) and copy the object to the new split database. Would not work in the new database. . Saw some talk about using a temp Contacts table, but it did not give enough detail for me to follow.

Anyone have any ideas

Thanks
