OMG Amazon Banners!

Question: OMG Amazon Banners!

I am in desparate need of help.

Just registering on this forum and navigating through it took me 10 times longer than it should have. I couln't find any other posts regarding this topic, so please excuse me if this is a repeat.

I am unable to do anything on the internet anymore. Almost every time I click on a link, I am redirected to a page that is a blank white background with a banner for Amazon.com. I tried running "spybot search and destroy" and "ad-aware" but to no avail. I am crippled right now. Every time I do anything on the internet now, I am constantly clicking link>back>back to get to where I wanted to be. The back>back is to go back from the Amazon banner pages.

FYI I am running IE6 and WindowsXP.

Thank you in advance!

Preferred Solution: OMG Amazon Banners!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an amazon.co.uk account and when I logon at the front screen on the Kindle app, it doesn't recognise it as a valid account.

Answer:When I try to logon to Amazon through the Kindle app, it prompts for an Amazon.com account, why?

Just checked and mine logs in using my regular Amazon account info. I would suggest a soft reset and try again.

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to come to for this. For the last few days, I have not been able to access amazon.co.uk or amazon.com. My housemate (who I'm on the same wireless network as) can access it on his computer, but when I try on mine, I just get redirected to my Sony Vaio google search page saying it can't find it. I've done three scans for viruses etc and got nothing. I've reinstalled IE7 and all that's changed now is that when I try and access amazon, it now comes up as Cannot display page, so it's not even redirecting me to the Sony Vaio google seach page anymore.

I know amazon isn't down as my housemate can get it. Can anyone suggest what's wrong here? To me it's very bizarre and has never happened before.

Tim.

I wonder if someone could point me in the right direction.

I dont have the normal ads and banners appear on some sites in vista. I know its a security thing, but I feel like some websites are incomplete.

My example is www.nme.com. If you see the ads on the right hand colum and on the top, well i receive them on my xp machine, but on my vista laptop they are just white blank.

Is there a setting I need to switch on? I dont think I have flash installed either.

Go to Adobe link http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/do..._getflashplayerAlso in IE under tools go to>internet options>advanced>under multimedia see if show pictures is ticked.

Question: Banners and ads

Ever notice that no matter where you go there are banners and ads everywhere...and I believe that they are at the root cause of malware and spyware development. I'm sik of bannars and ads. The day a mcdonalds add appears below the mound is the day I stop watchin ball. Hockey is already ruined. Well hockeys another issue...its actually a twice baked potatoe now...and I wouldnt watch it if some one paid me. But a few years back at least the Ice was clear of adds...boards to for most part. Look at a hockey rink now...well last years pics...mcdonalds and beer ads all over the ice.

Anyway...can I make my computer block bannars? Can it be done??? When I wuz a college boy I knew a kid that had linux setup so he never got bannars. But can this be done on windows? Thanks. -joe

Question: Can;t see banners

For some reason i cant se any banners...i think the internet explorer desconfigurate somehow...is there anyway i can configurate it again?

Answer:Can;t see banners

Download WinsockFix and unzip it. Then double-click on it to run it.

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. The result.txt file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. We do not need the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

Question: Bad Banners

Hello all, I would like to borrow some of your great knowledge to help me combat my computer problem.
I downloaded a couple of spyware programs. They scanned and indicated that I had some bad files.
For a fee, they would correct. I did not have the money so I erased both. One of them left me a nasty
desktop icon that gives me a nastygram banner every 20 seconds. Can someone help me get rid of it???

Answer:Bad Banners

I suspect to have been infected with rogue antispyware, which in it's self is malware.
Please post what the name of the software is, and the nastygram states word for word. I have no doubt we will be able to help.

Hi FolksRecently pop ups and banners started to appear while we surf the net. These are mostly whole pages but sometmes half pages, somtimes they are half blank pages. Typically they are advertising debt problems services or offering special deals on products. I have windows XP and I am using IE7. I run Ad-aware scan daily and remove cookies as recommended. I have Norton anti-virus; the latest scan showed no viruses. I also have installed Simply Sup Trojan remover. A general scan did not reveal any malicious elements. I also recently downloaded and run IObit Advanced Window Cleaner. The pops still appear. I read through previous forums about the possibility that this may be linked to Smiley software, which was earlier downloaded on our Windows Messenger. I removed this; the bannesr are still there. Any help in dealing with this will be appreciated. I searched earlier forums but could not find a similar case. With thanksWilliam

For the past couple of days, whenever I have loaded up a website which contains an ad banner on it, 99% of the time the ad banner would not load up, causing the entire page to come up as a "Cannot find server" or DNS error (unless I stop the loading of the page before it attempts to retrieve the ad). This problem has come up for many different websites and many different ad providers (doubleclick, flycast, burstnet etc.). For a few minutes last night, the problem was temporarily OK, but then it reverted. This problem has come up both with MSIE 5 and Netscape 6 (although w/ Netscape, the error message did not cause the entire page to come up as an error, but rather just caused a pop-up window message). My operating system is Windows 98.
Any ideas? Thanks.

My ISP is constantly placing ad banners at the top of the screen. I don't know how this is done, whether it's part of the software programme that gets me online or what, but it can be very irritating. It's partly to do with the fact that this is one of a very small number of low-cost ISPs which are generally still not as cheap here in Britain as I believe they are in the USA, but it would be helpful to bi-pass these ads.

Question: Stopping banners

How do I stop advertising banners from coming onto sites that I'm visiting.

Answer:Stopping banners

If the adds are appearing on the site then you cannot stop them, but if they are popping up in new windows you may be infected with adware.

Run this program and post the log.

Click on this link to download : ADWCleaner Click on the Download Now button and save it to your desktop.

NOTE: If using Internet Explorer and you get an alert that stops the program downloading click on Tools > Smartscreen Filter > Turn off Smartscreen Filter then click on OK in the box that opens. Then click on the link again.

Close your browser and double click on this icon on your desktop:

You will then see the screen below, click on the Scan button (as indicated), accept any prompts that appear and allow it to run, it may take several minutes to complete, when it is done click on the Clean button, accept any prompts that appear and allow the system to reboot. You will then be presented with the report, Copy & Paste it into your next post.

My computer started getting a massive amount of pop-ups a few days ago. I even had audio coming through my speakers telling me about a great new easy way of making money with no open programs!! I have run several different virus, adware, and spyware scanners at this point and removed quite a lot of things. Unfortunately, I still can't seem to shake one of them. I have the trial version of Norton running, and every 10 minutes exactly, I get the following message:

Details: Attempted Intrusion "HTTP QuickBrowser Activity" from your machine against www.top-banners.com was detected and blocked.
Intruder: LAPPY(1239).
Risk Level: High.

Attacked IP: www.top-banners.com.
Attacked Port: http(80).

The number in parenthesis after LAPPY increases with each notification unless I restart; then it starts over again.

I have searched every forum and support site, and ran just about every scanner there is. But, nothing seems to work. I also posted a HijackThis log in the other forum, but no one has replied thus far. I hope someone can help me get rid of this. I am not looking forward to reinstalling windows.

Thanks.

Recently I got my own web site on Geocities. After figuring out how to use it, I have a problem.
I want to put links to groups I like and am a member of (like Immortal Beloveds, TFAR, etc). Not just any link though, I mean the banners (also things like ribbons, etc). Trouble is that I do not know how to do this. They say to download it to my computer. How do I do this, and then how would I transfer to my web site.
One link told how to download with HTML, but I did my site without HTML (Geocities lets you do this). So, can I put HTML on a document that does not contain any HTML?
By the by, I run Windows ME on a HP Pavilion 6830.

banner, only the first page prints. Everything then stops like the
print job was completed. I get great one page banners but....

I am using a PC running XP with an HP Deskjet 5650 printer. I then tried to print a
banner using my second computer which has Win 98se and a different HP printer
with the same results. I conclude that I am not setting Inkscape
correctly for printing the banner of this size. Is this a correct assumption?

I am using Inkscape 0.42.2. The banners look great on the screen but... Please
help me to print the complete banner(s).

Thank you so much in advance.

My desktop is running XP home (+SP2) with the latest version of Java (JRE 1.5.0-04) enabled. For some reason certain animated banners eg. a href="click here" target="_blank"> img src="click here" width="468" height="60" border="0"/> /a>just won't display in either IE6, Frontpage 2003 or Mozilla. My laptop runs XP Pro (+SP2) and it displays the same banner no problem. I've aligned all the IE options between the two, but I've noticed that the Java settings on my laptop is Java2v1.4.2.Is this relevant?Anyway it's driving me crazy not being able to see certain animated banners (the majority display fine) so any help on how to fix my desktop settings woulf be very gratefully received.I have also tried removing and then reinstalling Java on the desktop (through Control Panel), but to no avail.

Answer:Why Can't I See Some Animated banners

I think you may find that JRE 1.5.0-05 is the newest update maybe installing this may help.

Question: flash banners

Hi guys my friend is a multimedia design who has just graduated. He just received a request to design website advertisement banners, for a company, using flash. How much do you think he should charge? How about flash websites? What is the average cost of design for a basic site for an existing company? Thanks

Answer:flash banners

click hereWhat to charge is always a thorny issue.I charge what I feel is a reasonable amount based on my level of knowledge, capability to deliver and a lot of other factors. Some people charge more, others less.Since your friend has been approached, why not ask the ones who did the approaching to make an offer from which to base negotiation ?Flash is potentially in for an even rougher ride than this last couple of years has brought it. It went from hugely popular (and vastly misused) to almost ostracised within a relatively short period. Happily, it is expanding into different directions to include dynamic data handling and, more impressive, as a development platform for media output other than on the web.Frankly, I'm surprised your friend was approached with this sort of offer at all. Flash animators have had a hard time of it this last couple of years and there are more banner resources (and experienced designers who can create artwork) than you can shake a stick at.Difficult questions and almost impossible to answer.T

I'm having problems with pages which have movement in them. A good example is the PC Advisor home page. Tonight it's got a couple of Hitachi adertising banners which have got pictures and writing which are constantly changing. What I get is a glimpse of the advert, but otherwise it flickers on and off in white, almost like a fluorecent light tube on the blink.Has anyone any idea what might be causing it.....it's very annoying.

Answer:Flickering banners etc

First try going to Tools at the top of the page then 'Internet [email protected] and in 'Temp Internet Files' click Delete Files.

I am having something occur i've never seen before.

Website banners (728x90, 250x250, 300x250, etc) on any website I visit are being hijacked & replaced.

The banners are all driven by the following (when you click on them)

ad.scanmedios.com
ad.yieldmanager.com
ad.optimizedby.rmxads.com
ad.adserverplus.com
ads.quixsurf.com

Again - banners on just about any website i visit are being replaced by the above listed urls which then forward to an ad.

No pop ups.

I do not see any of these banners occur using firefox, ie7 only.

I am using winxp sp3.

Scans of adaware 2008, avg, kapersky, showed nothing. I also ran combofix - and online trojan scanner - still nothing.

I've never seen this one before - any suggestions?

Question: adds and banners

Can anyone recommend a free program for stopping adds and banners on IE

Answer:adds and banners

In IE9, Tools,Safety,Tracking Protection,at the bottom in blue there is a blue "Get tracking protection on line" I use two of them: Abine Standard Tracking Protection and Easylist Priority Tracking Protection. If you enable these, most ads are blocked. Another thing I have is DVD+ , see DNT+ This seems to block people tracking your IE sites. Here and now on this site it is blocking 15 would be trackers, and in a couple of months it has blocked over 77000 tracking sites..

Hello everybody.

I hate banner ads as much as the next guy, but when I see banner ads that have the address "ad.doubleclick.net" or something like that, they do not display.

They will just say Action Canceled.

I have attached a screenshot from the TSG homepage, and you will see the banners are not displaying.

Any ideas on why this might be happening?

Thanks

P.S. It doesn't happen on some websites...

Windows XP systems connected to the Internet will automatically install the new software in the middle of the night when no one is looking. Click to expand...

i have that setting turned off in my computer. (damn auto update. its evil!) lol

but tha'ts really funny. however, i havent seen the bsod in my xp machine. and if i have, its a lighter blue. and has much nice text. i think its tahoma or arial. unlike the other one which was like..who knows what. it was ugly.

but ywah, when my system crashes, it doenst show the bsod, it just restarts, and when its done, i log back in, and THEN it tells me "your compie survived a crash, click here to send the crash info to your friends and microsoft."

i think this is an opportunity for them to use personalised target advertising. simply have the poeple asnwer a few questions about what they like and what they buy, and all advertisemenst via the BSOD, will be personalised for the user to increase sales.

if all goes well, i expect to see video game advertisements in MY blue screen of death.

Hi All,

I have several problems with my pc which I believe could be all related hence I will list them here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

First of all ever since I went to a kids games web site for my nephew all the adverts on the normal websites I visit have now turned into adverts
advertising various sexual products.

Every time I google a website that I frequently use and click on the link when the results come up it takes me to another search site results page or to a site selling sexual products. Whereas before clicking on the link would take me direct to the desired website

I currently run Mcafee which I upgraded earlier this year, I also run Spyhunter on a regular basis.

Normally when running the Spyhunter sofware it gets rid of all the trojans etc and it is some time before I have to run it to do another scan. Now though I notice the same trojans reappearing, it's becoming less and less effective.
Recently whenever I run up Spyhunter it asks me to run the software update however when I do this an error comes and I am unable to update it.

I also get the impression that my Mcafee virus software is becoming less and less effective. The other day a pop up warning came up saying that there was an error and said I should re-install the 3 user software.

I hope I am making sense here guys.

Hello,
***(Here is a duplicate of a message sent to a member - FYI)

I'm posting here because I see the extensive help you've provided your members and would like to ask for assistance in removing 'top-banners' pop unders from my PC. I have installed and ran over 7 anti-spyware/adware/malware programs, with a few removed malicious files, without a cure for the pop unders... Please help!! I have BitDefender, Panda ActiveScan and HJT log files as well as the previously mentioned programs still installed (Webroot SpySweeper, Spyware Nuker XT, Spybot S&D, TrendMicro Antispyware, SpyRemover, Spyware BeGone and Lavasoft Ad-Aware 6 - I also have CCleaner, Windows Malicious Software removal tool, Microsoft defender, CWS Shredder and Kill2Me)

Needless to say I have been trying EVERYTHING! I understand programs, etc. fairly well but cannot seem to isolate where these programs are either located or respwaning from...

Here is the HJT log from today.. just after running Webroot Spy Sweeper. Also, please include how to donate to your site. I have searched high and low and think that the assistance you've given to the other posters I've read is excellent and should be compensated for.

When ever I go onto a site with an ad banner on it... such as Myspace... gerweck.net (a wrestling site) every ad banner shows up as the "Action Canceled" page and I get immediately taken to a 404 Error page saying different things like "mediaclick" could not be found... which I'm guessing is the banner.

Even if I press the stop button... it'll STILL take me to those pages, and I have no idea what's going on. I've run Ad-Ware, Registry Cleaner and AVG and I'm not getting a single thing. Anyone have any ideas?

When I open IE, my home page opens (comcast), and then suddenly a new IE page opens over it with an address "www.media.deskwizz.com" and pop-up ads start springing up in the blank space of the page and there's some "search companion" panel on the left side of the screen in place of my "favorites". You can close that page and it will go back to the comcast home page... then another overlay page appears "www.banners.searchingbooth.com" and ads start popping up again. I have spent DAYS on this, ran all kinds of things... it is driving me insane. NOTHING WORKS and I can't find ANY info on it. I have Windows XP Professional. Can someone look at this HIJACK THIS log for me please and offer up some assistance???? Thanks much.

Hi
I returned to my W10 laptopr which had rebooted and the desktop had changed and required a password to enter. (Previously disabled). All of the icons were misplaced and banners containing the icon names were much too long. I?ve not been able to shorten them and the banner of one icon hides the next icon. Moving the icon to its usual position frequently causes the program to open. I cannot find any complaint about this on the Internet and using many of the other desktop and icon adjustments that are mentioned do not help.
I will greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Answer:Desktop icon banners much too long

You can right click on the desktop and hover over view, then choose the icon size you want. Default is Medium.

Any thoughts please I presume you are referring to mobile build 10149? If so this is a known bug and will probably be fixed in the next build. I found turning the phone off and on rectifies it, albeit on temporarily. Others have reported hard resetting the phone helps but I cannot be bothered for a small niggle. Hope this helps.

Since the massive decline in the econonmy and the internet world (which started in late 2000 I presume) is there any real chance to make even a couple hundred dollars a month off ad banners?

Would a site (or my site lets say) even have a chance at making some cash?

Do sites need to get hits like Aol.com or Yahoo.com get to even have a chance at seeing money?

Anyone know?

Thanks & Godspeed.

Using an ASUS model X50GL laptop, running Windows XP, i can't access banners broker website, however can on other laptops and desktops.

Answer:cant access banners broker website

That could be the result of a number of things, however, the first thing you want to ensure is that you haven?t blocked access to the website through your browser, to do this, access Internet Options, in Control Panel. Once there, click on the Security Tab, then click on the Restricted Sites Icon, and then click on Sites. This will bring up a small Restricted Sites applet; make sure the website URL is not in the list, if it is remove it. If the website is not there, then it?s possible that your router is blocking access to the site, however, if your able to access the website on another laptop through the same router, then that is unlikely the case. I?d recommend trying a different browser, if that doesn?t work, reinstalling your current browser. Lastly, you may want to check your HOST file. You can access it by clicking on Start -> Run, then typing in CMD and clicking on OK. Once Command Prompt loads up, type in:notepad c:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hostsCheck the HOST file and make sure the URL of the website your trying to access is not there. If it is, delete it and save the file. Other things you can look at is malware/spyware, consider using Spybot and Malwarebytes, running a full scan on both. ReferenceBlocking access to website(s)

I have tried to clean my system with Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy. I am still getting popups from banners.valuead. Everytime my computer boots it puts the processes windows/ziwkenc.exe and windows/ziwkdll.exe in my startup. According to WinPatrol, they are listed as Update Monitor and System Monitor Service and if I kill the processes and remove them from the startup, they return again the next time I reboot. If I log into safe mode, the proccesses are not running and I can't try to clean them in safe mode. Are these proccesses causing my problem? In WinPatrol, I have also disabled the file jljbrr.exe reg_run which is named Winsync and the file ncni.exe. Should I have disabled those or are they from a normal program? Thanks for your help. Hello J_D_W and welcome to TSF,

The information you gave above sounds as if it may be a particular infection needing a special tool. In order to know that for sure, I need you to download and install the newest HijackThis which will give me the information I need to clean this properly:

You are using an outdated version of Hijack This. Please download and install the latest version (1.99.1)by going to this Site This version has features that might be more helpful in 'cleaning' up your system.

Save it to your C: drive as HijckThis will create backups are important in case we need to restore any 'fixed' entry(s) later.

To do this:
Click My Computer, then C:\
Right click in the right-hand panel.
In the menu that opens, click New>Folder.
That will create a folder named New Folder.
Rename it"HJT".

Run a scan with HijackThis, save the log and post it here.

Answer:HijackLog (banners.searchingbooth popups)

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Please download Ad-aware at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Also go to http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/...2cleaner.shtml to download the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 ... Read more

Hi all.Not entirely sure if this is what i need. but i think i want to create a standard banner for my entire web site. I have an image that i want to insert however when i try to. it only fills bout an inch of space. how do i make it stretch across entire page?? Or do i need to repeat the image over and over again?Im stuck!cheers

Answer:Page Banners frontpage 2002

It very much depends, was the unhelpful reply. If you want a common graphic on every page, making your mind up on its size is your first port of call. There's no real hard and fast rule about how big a banner image should be. I normally make mine around 350 to 450 pixels wide by between 90 and 130 pixels high, as a rough guideline.A lot depends on what you want to put on the banner and which graphics program you have. In general though, anything of around the above dimensions saved either as a JPG or preferably a GIF file will load quickly and still look good.Right click on your current image and select properties. Check out its dimensions and see how big it is.If you insert an image in FrontPage you can call up the image properties in relation to the page it is on and alter the displayed size. Be warned though, it's a very poor habit to get into.As an example, let's say you have an 800 x 400 pixel JPG image. This would be a reasonably large file and would take a little while to download and display online. A lot of newcomers to web design make the mistake of resizing their images in the web editor - that is, you use FrontPage, Dreamweaver or whatever to display the image at, say, 400 x 200.It means that the large original source image still has to download online and you waste that download time by showing it as a smaller picture.Doing things the other way, by setting an image size to be larger than the original on the web page often results in poor image quality since you los... Ok, I thought this was just bitlocker stuff but its all removable drives.

When I connect a removable drive I don't get a notification banner. I get a sound and the notification goes straight to Action Center instead of showing the banner. I've gone in and disabled and renabled all the notifications, Ive made sure both "Banner" and "Sounds" are enabled for everything, but still nothing.

When I get an email in Outlook I get the banner like I'm supposed to, others programs like Logitech Gaming Software are also showing banners, so it seems like a device connection thing at the moment.

Answer:No notification banners for removable drives.

I'm having the same problem, which I described at Windows 8.1/10 Bitlocker Toast Notification. It affects bitlocker and autoplay notifications. Notifications such as the alarm, 'safely remove' etc show properly so it does not seem to be a broader notification bug.

My system is an in place upgrade of Win 10 Pro x64 from Win 8.1 Pro x64.

I'm a new forum member and happy as heck. Got rid of my adware on my tablet PC last night (Christmas eve) with the instructions in your READ & RUN ME FIRST sticky. I've been using Norton Internet Security 2005 / AntiVirus and Ad-Aware SE Personal and got the dreaded aggressive popup FREE ADS window that finally downloaded adware with ads from banners.searchingbooth.com at the top and bottom of my IE browser windows that refresh over and over. What a pain. Anyway, NIS and Ad-Aware scans didn't find anything.
I did every step in your list and was amazed at the multiple adware infestation I had.
Spybot found and fixed some (I couldn't figure out what SDHelper was but I didn't choose TeaTimer as you said).
Microsoft Antispyware found DealHelper and fixed it.
Bitdefender online scan was slow (45mins) but found a trojan downloader (text log file attached)
Panda online ActiveScan was the winner! (Although I found it tricky to navigate in SafeMode) I attached the scan report. It found my main problem, Deskwizz aka banners.searchingbooth.com adware along with a few others. I had already suspected the z00098.exe file as the cause of my problem and unchecked it in the System Properties startup tab but it was still getting run somehow. I had blocked internet access in my Norton Firewall under Programs tab for z00098.... Read more

Answer:paranoid about Deskwizz aka banners.searchingbooth

Ok, let's get rid of Panda completely first.

Click on Start, then Run ... type services.msc into the box that opens up, and press 'OK'.
On the page that opens, scroll down to Panda Process Protection Service or PavPrSrv ... right click the entry (Whichever you find), select 'Properties' and press 'Stop Service'. When it shows that it is stopped, next please set the 'Start-up Type' to 'Disabled'. Press 'OK' until you get back to Windows.

Next, run HijackThis, but instead of scanning, click on the 'None of the above, just start the program' button at the bottom of the choices. At the lower right, click on the 'Config' button, and then the 'Misc tools' button ... select 'Delete an NT Service' ... copy/paste the following into the box that opens, and press 'OK':

Panda Process Protection Service or PavPrSrv (Whichever you found above)

REBOOT

In HJT Choose Open the Misc Tools Section choose Process Manager, Highlight:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Panda Software\PavShld\pavprsrv.exeClick to expand...

Choose Kill Process

Now scan and have HJT Fix the following:

O23 - Service: Panda Process Protection Service (PavPrSrv) - Panda Software - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Panda Software\PavShld\pavprsrv.exeClick to expand...

REBOOT

Do you use anything from Infineon Technologies AG?

Post a fresh HijackThis log.

My computer seems to be infected with a browser hijack. The original banners on websites are being replaced by banners loaded by the hijack and at the moment it happens I see "ieframe.dll" at the page and a couple of other words, but it goes away so fast that I can't read it. This happens on my own websites, so I'm 100% sure the banners are being replaced. For instance a simple gif image is being replaced by a flash banner. I spent the entire day scanning with Kaspersky and trying all sorts of spyware remoavel programs ... no result. Thank you in advance for any help with this problem... I'm running Vista Home premium SP2.In Firefox, something is inserting banner ads at the top of all web pages - most I'm certain shouldn't have them. The banner ads seem to load or refresh at ~30 second intervals, sometimes after the web page has been open for some time. I have performed full scans with Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, Malwarebytes' and Symantec Antivirus, all up-to-date as of last night. Symantec found "Bloodhound.PDF!gen" and that's it; supposedly it "cleaned" it. The problem persists, and Firefox has become quite unstable, crashing about once every 20 mins of use.Unfortunately, I am not able to generate the Ark.txt file from GMER. About 10 seconds after I initiate the GMER scan my computer goes to blue screen and restarts. I have tried four times, and I have no idea if this is related to the infection. Let me know if you have thoughts about an alternate way to run GMER.DDS (Ver_10-03-17.01) - NTFSx86 Run by Owner at 17:12:13.95 on Fri 03/19/2010Internet Explorer: 8.0.6001.18882 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_17Microsoft? Jus' downloaded and installed windows 10 yesterday. How the heck do I get a sound notification for email in the mail app on Windows 10 without getting these popups at the bottom right??

To clarify, I need to know when emails arrive, but I cannot have banners randomly obscuring that specific part of the screen (any other part of the screen would be ok though).

Answer:Mail sounds required, but not notification banners

Hello Ian,

The tutorial below can help show you how to change your Mail app notifications settings for what you want. Uncheck "Show a notification banner", and check "Play a sound".
