Outlook Read Receipt inconsistency

Question: Outlook Read Receipt inconsistency

Hi all

I'm wondering whether someone out there might be able to help me with a frustration that I'm experiencing with Outlook read receipts at present.

I have just started a new job and have set Outlook up as I like it. One of the things includes asking for a read receipt to all emails I send (this is quite important in the role that I am in).

Anyway, more often than not I get read receipts, but every now and then I don't get them, even though I know the recipients have viewed the message their end (have since checked).

I have always got read receipts in the past from these people (when I've sent them from previous jobs or from home) and I know that they haven't changed their settings and have said that they are quite happy to send a receipt.

Is this just a glitch in Outlook or would my new work's server be somehow causing the problem?

I have checked with our IT team at work and explained the problem and all they have said is that the problem must be at the other end (even though it relates to different people and different places). They have confirmed that I have my settings configured correctly.

I'd be really grateful for any advice you could provide.

Bye for now

Preferred Solution: Outlook Read Receipt inconsistency

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Outlook Read Receipt inconsistency

They may inadvertently choose not to send the read receipt unless their e-mail is configured to automatically reply to read receipts.
This feature is not on by default in Outlook.
To enable you need to go into Tools/options/e-mail options/tracking and set it in there to auto reply to read receipts otherwise they will need to say yes to the box that pops up saying the sender has requested a read receipt do you wish to send ? (or something similar)

I already know how to create a "read" receipt for sent emails. From my understanding, when you set the function, I will received read receipts for all email that was read. I was wondering if this setting could be set on individual emails instead of all of them. Thanks!

I'm using Outlook 2002. I often send e-mails that I need a read receipt. I know how to turn this option on and off but don't need or want to have it turned on all the time. Is there an EASY way for me to request a read receipt on specific messages only. I think it's a pain to have to drill down through >tools>options>Preferences>e-mail options>tracking just to check read receipt for one message. Then go back through the same procedure to uncheck it. There's got to be a quicker way

There is a user that continues to receive the same read receipt from a user she submited a message to on the same email server (exchange).
Both users have deleted the message from their inbox and sent items. We verified that all items have been purged from deleted items as well. Both are using Outlook 2000.
The only thing we have narrowed it down to is everytime the user who received the msg opens outlook the sender receives the same read receipt msg, even after this message has been recieved, read, and deleted.
Are there any known issues with Outlook 2000 occassionally not
designating the message as read?
Has anyone seen this issue before and what steps were taken to resolve it? Thank you for your assistance in advance.

Answer:Outlook, Keeps sending same read receipt

Hi all,
I'm bumping this up because I did a search for the problem and this perfectly describes it. In fact, this original post may well be from my co-worker in IT who really shouldn't have called me a "user" but that's an entirely separate issue.

Just wondering whether anyone has any ideas on what could be causing it. We're using Exchange 5.5 and Outlook 2000. Thanks for your help.

I am using outlook 2003. I have received a message that requested a read receipt that I said yes to sending. It does not seem to be sending it. It doesnt appear in the outbox so I can not delete it but every thirty seconds my computer flashes up that it has an error trying to send something.
I tried using a program called OutlookSpy which was recommended on another site but that tells me I have used up my free test period and now I have to pay, but I do not even know if it would work.
All my other mail can still go in and out ok but the error messages are driving me nuts.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Cheers

I sent a message requesting a read receipt (it's automatically set up that way). The message was read and the read receipt was sent back simulataneously as usual to my blackberry and my computer Outlook Express (I think it's version 8). It was for a meeting acceptance. I saw the read receipt myself on the blackberry, and then about 15 minutes later the read receipt was gone--from both the blackberry and the computer. What happened to it? All the other read receipts I've gotten from this person for the last year are still there.

So... where did this one go?

Thanks

I have a customer using Outlook 2003 who sent a message to another client on my 2003 Exchange site with a read receipt on the message.  After the message was read, the sender now receives another copy of that read receipt every minute...on the minute.  I fixed the problem by detaching the senders mailbox from the store in Active Directory and then re-attaching it.Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this, or has anyone seen this before?

I received an e-mail with a read receipt request on a POP3 account I can receive from but not send to. Outlook keeps trying to send the read receipt and displaying the following error message:

Task 'Incoming Only Acct. - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'
The read receipt message is not in the outbox so I can't delete it. Where is it? Can I delete it? How can I get rid of this problem? Thanks. Steve

Answer:Outlook 2003 Can't Delete Read Receipt HELP!

They appear in the outbox when I test it. You may have to just change that account so that it can temporarily send it via a free SMTP server, then it should be gone Even if the SMTP server bounces it, it will still get it "out of the loop".

Hello World.

I believe this is my first post on this site.

The issue involves configuring Outlook 2007 to exclude one email recipient from the general setting to request read receipts on all messages I send.

I configured the Outlook 2007 Tracking Options (Tools-->Options, Preferences Tab-->Email Options-->Tracking Options) to request a read receipt for all messages I send out.

One of my contacts works for a company that uses Lotus Notes. The read receipt "flag" in messages I send from Outlook 2007 causes various problems when she receives them. She and I narrowed down the problem to the "read receipt" flag. Tech support on her side has not come forward with a resolution on the Lotus Notes side.

On my side, I have looked for a configuration to exclude messages I send to this particular contact from the general tracking configuration described above. I have not located it.

I also checked the Rule Wizard. The Rules Wizard has an option to selectively request a read receipt from specific contacts. Presumably this option would work where the client is not configured to request read receipts on all outgoing messages. More importantly, there is no Rules Wizard option to specifically exclude recipients when the client is configured to request read receipts on all outgoing messages.

In summary, the issue involves configuring Outlook 2007 to exclude one email recipient from the general rule to request read receipts.

Thank you very much in advance ... Read more

Specs:
HP Pavillion
Intel Celeron 1200 MHz Processor
128 MB RAM
15 GB free Hard disk space left; Hard drive C: and CD RW Drive D: as masters on 2 different IDE cables.
Original Configuration: Hard Disk was C: , CD-ROM Drive was D: (master), and CD RW Drive was E: (slave of D: )

I disconnected the CDROM drive and left the CDRW drive as the master, mainly because they were both connected on the same IDE controller, I was getting intermittent problems in both drives, and I figured that the problem might be memory based(lack thereof). I didn't need 2 CD drives anyway, so I did it in order to free up resources, figuring that maybe that would make my CD RW drive work right. However, I continue to get the same inconsistency. Whatever the configuration, both drives would show up in Device Manager and My Computer; however, whether they would read, play, or burn CD's was the mystery. It will not even read the newer CD's when problems arise. Sometimes it will start working and within 10 minutes or so, it will stop. The drivers show up under Properties as working properly. I've even went into Properties and clicked on Uninstall and rebooted, but still I get the same problem. I've got antivirus, spyware/adware, and malicious solution software and do use it. I've also restored my backups just in case the registry might have become damaged. I've also checked the connection to make sure they were secure and they are. Can you please help me?

Hello, wondering if anybody knows the answer to this:

In Microsoft Outlook 2000 you have the ability to ask for a read receipt for either every message you send or you can go to View -> Options in the email message and select Read-receipt. Does anybody know whether it is possible to set it up so it asks for a read-receipt when you send an email to a specific user??

Answer:Help with read-receipt.

Not sure what you're after here; when you create an email you can go into the File Properties of the mail window and request a read-receipt. When the recipient receives the mail and open it, they get a message saying that the sender has requested a read receipt, is it ok to send. They either click yes or no so the read receipt is issued, or not. You don't really have another read-receipt options available to you other than that.

Gmail does not offer the feature.

Even if it did, the read receipt offered by Outlook et al will only work if the recipient has enabled/allowed the sending of such receipts, and there are not a lot of people that do.

Hi,
I use Msoft Outlook and have it set to request read receipts. I need to know when members of our group read their emails, one member uses google mail, also hotmail and NTL. I never get read receipts. Google mail is the account I send the groups communications to. What does he have to do to get it to send read receipts ? I would imagine its the cheapest account google offer that he is using.
I can then keep track on whats been seen which is proving vital.
If google mail is incapable of such, should hotmail be able to do so ? Where is this enabled ? I see one from ntl but only one.

Arggh, Subject should be: "Read receipt CANNOT go but won't stop trying"
A friend switched ISPs (and thus email domains) but decided to keep his old email address active for a while. The new ISP will not let mail be sent from the old address (receiving is fine). The guy accidentally clicked 'OK' to a request from a sender for a Read Receipt on a message that came in via his old address. Now, every time he opens Outlook, it tries to send the read receipt, but it cannot go out as it is 'from' the old domain. There is no copy of the read receipt in the Outbox or Drafts (or Sent) folders so we cannot simply delete it or change the "From" to the address with the new domain. Is there any way to kill this thing? (FWLIW, the account now is set to receive only, not send, in the send/receive settings. This has not changed anything.)

I am using Outlook 2003, with two e-mail accounts. One can be used to send and receive, whilst the other can receive only (restricted by the ISP). Just before Christmas a friend sent me an e-mail with a request that I send a read receipt. I agreed to this without realising that he had sent the e-mail to the account that cannot send replies. Ever since then Outlook has been trying to send the read receipt several times a day for the last two months. The read receipt does not appear in the outbox, and I cannot find any way of deleting it. Has anyone any ideas?

You could try changing the tracking set up to never send a receipt. If you havn't deleted the email do so then turn the tracking back on if you choose.I have mine set to send a read receipt automatically so I do not get requests to send.

Sometimes when I get an email, (usually spam), when I open it, somehow, it sends a read receipt to the sender, (without asking me 1st!). The only way that I found out about it was that the sender's email box was full and it bounced it back to me as undelieverable! I figure it is some kind of script or something. Does anyone know of or have a "utility" that will stop the sending of a read receipt unless I ok it?? I figure this is one method used by spammers to see if the address are still valid.

Thanks a million!!!

Answer:Outlook 2003 - unauthorized receipt sent

In Outlook:

Tools - Options - Preferences - Email Options - Tracking Options.

Select Never send a response.

However, spammers never check their inbox anyway. They create one, send the spam and move on. They rely on people clicking on web links in the spam for a paying response.

Hi everybody. I've had a search around and found several threads on this topic, but I'm not having any luck in finding a solution at the moment, so I thought I'd detail my exact symptoms. Hope that's ok

Setup info: I'm running Microsoft Outlook 2000 as may mail handler on a LAN comprising of 5 computers, all running on Windows XP. (Although each of the five profiles are stored exclusively on each PC - I don't have a dedicated email server). All of my PCs run Norton Antivirus, except for one computer which runs the self updating internet version of Norton Antivirus.

Problem: I've had a few phone calls telling me that people are unable to send email to us - I checked and I've not recived any email for a few days. I have experimented with all of the profiles by emailing to every computer in the office. None of the computers receive email, although all are able to send email to external sources (such as hotmail). There are no error messages.

The exception to this is "Computer 3", the one with the Internet Antivirus. This displays a whole host of error messages and will not send or receive email. I've checked the antivirus log and it appears that the software performed an automatic update a couple of nights ago. However, turining off my firewall etc has no effect.

The most common error message I receive is;
Error number 0x800ccc6a - 451 transient Brightmail processing error

Any advice on how I could fix this would be gre... Read more

Answer:outlook email problems during receipt of emails

One thing you could try - assuming by the tags that you are using Vista and Outlook 2007 - is the following...

Go 'Start' -> 'Control Panel' -> 'Programs' -> 'Programs and Features' ->
locate 'Microsoft Office <your version here>' -> right click on it -> select 'Change' -> then select 'Repair' and then 'next'...see this process through and try Outlook again.

More questions...
Did you install Office yourself or did it come pre-installed?
How much RAM do you have?
What is your Internet connection?

Outlook 2007 is a real memory hog - anything less than 2GB I have found to be terrible...and particularly with Vista.

Hello ....

I have a client with a problem I cannot solve.

He is using Outlook in Office 2010 connecting to a Hotmail account via MAPI.

Sending and receiving email from Outlook creates the error 0x8004102A (Send/Receive Error).

Folders created either in Outlook or on Live.com are synced almost instantly so there appears to be no sync problem between his PC and the web.

However mail sent to the Hotmail address of my client can take up to half an hour or more to arrive in the Live.com inbox. When it does eventually arrive it syncs almost immediately with his PC reinforcing the view that the problem lies with Live.com.

What happens is that my client will receive clusters of emails at various intervals with nothing inbetween. Sending mail is fine - it is sent instantly and arrives as expected in good time. The problem appears to be the slowness of emails into the Live.com account.

This occurs with just one email or a number. It is NOT down to the amount of mail.

I hope I have explained this so it can be understood. I would welcome any suggestions or help to solve this problem. (M$ is of no help at all sadly)

Many thanks

MS completed the migration of Hotmail accounts to Outlook.com accounts back in May

Hello:
I've gone through a reformat to correct some problems not involving Outlook 2003. I reinstalled Office 2003 and imported my .pst file to restore all settings. No problem. I am trying to set up the views the way I had them. I think the view in the inbox before was ona daily basis. In other words the tree or thread showed e-mails recd. say on Monday, then Tuesday etc. Now the inbox will have something like Today, Last week, 2 weeks ago, 3 weeks ago, earlier this month, last month, and older. I know there is a recd. column that shows the dat but I was thinking I had them broken down daily by headings in the inbox. Am I completely forgetful or was there a different view.
Thanks

When Outlook Express is opened, every e-mail that was sent "return reciept requested" causes Outlook Express to try to send a return receipt, which then fails resulting in an error message.

OE ignores all changes to the "return receipt" functions and continues to try to send them even before they are opened; when the mouse hovers over the particular e-mail.

A recent malware infection (which has been removed) caused a change in the registry and turned off Task Manager (which has been corrected). I suspect the problem with OE is also a registry issue, but cannot Google any information on this specific function or issue.

Two questions:

1. Is there a registry entry that controls the fuction of OE's "return receipt" function ?

2. If OE is uninstalled & reinstalled, will the stored e-mails be lost ?

An aggravating factor is that sbcglobal does not have a configuration setting to prevent duplicate e-mails from being downloaded and a recent change to the e-mail account by sbcglobal has resulted in the messages being duplicated 2 and 3 times in OE, and it is attempting to download another 4000 ( ! ) more, which will also all be duplicates.

This "return receipt" problem is preventing the ability to delete the duplicate & unwanted e-mails, so OE's functionality is reduced to nil.

Also, is there a static limit to the number of messages that OE can store & manage ?

Answer:Outlook 2003: not marking read items as read

Outlook Express has a tab to fix this-maybe Outlook has the same.
TOOLS/OPTIONS/tab READ
check Mark Messages READ after displaying (add 5 seconds)

Maybe that seconds number has been raised above the time you take to scan messages. OE doesnt care IF you peek at a message-it cares HOW long you stare at it.

Question: CPU inconsistency

Hi,
I have been dealing with this issue for quite a while. I do most of my gaming on XBox, so I don't care that much. But recently I have started playing TF2 on my laptop. Yea, I know laptops are terrible for gaming, blah, blah, blah. But my computer should be pretty good. The issue is that about every two minutes or so, my CPU usage spikes to 100%, and even weirder, The process list never seems like it should be adding up to 100%. I am intellegent enough to understand how task manager works, and my physical memory is amazing. I have a ton of free memory even when running many applications. But my CPU usage still does this stupid lagspike thing. It causes massive FPS drops and makes gaming virtually impossible. I would REALLY appreciate an intelligent answer, not more questions. if for some reason you can think of multiple reasons, and don't know which I want, just give me all of them.

Answer:CPU inconsistency

Its a little difficult to make and sort of assessment without detailed system specs to look at. What is the exact make and model of the laptop, what operating system are you using, is all your software and drivers fully up to date?

Answer:Memory Inconsistency

The memory is incompatible. Could be the number or size of the chips on the module. Could be the timing or voltage. Doesn't really matter. That board supports dual channel memory. The modules must be exactly the same. Dual channel wasn't really an advantage with that series but thought I would throw it out there anyway. You could try installing them in the opposite order. Consult your manual. There is mention of modules with over 18 chips are not supported.Get your manual at the link below if you don't have a printed copy. I have some trouble with my wireless network card. Every other time i turn my computer on (Gateway 3520GZ laptop), the wireless card is not recognized by windows and doesn't load any driver for it, so obviously i can't use it.

However, there are times where it does recognize the card and it runs ok, except for a few times, when the computer just freezes and i have to restart.

There are sometimes though, where everythings seems to be ok and i don't have any trouble.

I have my system fully restored (factory) so i don't think viruses or worms are involved. Could it be software or could it have something to do with hardware. I already have the latest driver installed.

Please help. Thanks

I was trying to transfer OE .dbx files from a hard disk and found that explorer displayed an identity folder, reached by moving down the directory tree from the hard drive root, as empty (hidden and system files set to display). However after searching for .dbx files, and then selecting 'open folder' from the search window, the files could be viewed ok. The weird thing was that by moving back up the directory tree, a second window showing the same folder (and path!) could be produced, except that in this window, unlike the first apparently identical one, the subdirectories were shown and could be opened to show subfolders and (eventually) the .dbx files.

Does anyone know how or why this strange behaviour occurs? Does it matter, except for the confusion caused?

Answer:Router Inconsistency!

1. It's important that you plug a microfilter into each telephone socket that is in use on a line that has an ADSL service. You don't need to plug a microfilter into sockets that have neither a telephone nor your ADSL router/modem plugged in to them. Don't "chain" microfilters. In other words make sure that there is only one microfilter between your router/modem and the master telephone socket. For example, if your router is plugged into a telephone extension which is in turn plugged into a master telephone socket, do not plug a microfilter into both the master socket and the telephone extension as this would mean there would be two microfilters between the ADSL modem and the telephone line. Be aware that if you have a Sky Digibox or any other set top box, a burglar alarm or indeed ANYTHING that plugs into your telephone line, a microfilter MUST be plugged in at some point between such devices and your master telephone socket.2. Having too many devices plugged into a telephone line can cause problems. Similarly some devices may be incompatible with the ADSL service. Try removing everything except the router/modem from your telephone line. Try plugging your router into the master socket rather than an extension.3. Try making a call on your telephone while the router light is flashing. Calling any number will do. If the light mysteriously stops flashing then you probably have a problem with your microfilters or the wiring for your telephone lines may even be faulty. The light m... Read more

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and new to Vista too - I have a question relating to the disk usage of my new machine.

If I right-click the C: drive and select properties I am told I'm using 43.5GB (with 179GB free from a total of 223GB). The odd thing is this, the machine is only a few weeks old and it came saying it had 199GB free - I have *NOT* added 20GB of data to this drive!!! If I enable the showing of all protected operating system files and hidden files/folders, then I go into the C: drive and select all files/folders and right-click -> properties I am told there are about 17.1GB of files on the disk.

How is this difference accounted for?! If there are 17.1GB of files on the C: drive, then why does Vista report the drive as having 43GB of content/usage?!

Any light anyone can shed on this would be greatly appreciated, the disk usage seems to be creeping up daily and I'm quite perplexed!

Si.

Answer:Disk usage inconsistency?!

Just had a thought, is this because Vista is allocating 15% of the drive space to System Restore (Volume Shadow Copy Service)?!

Here is the issue, whenever I try to turn on my computer it never turns on at first. Usually I have to turn the power on and off, flip the plugs around and hope for a miracle that it turns on. My friend helped me build my computer a year ago, it has been going on since then. We thought the problem would be the wiring to the power button itself. So we ordered a new wire, soldering it in. That however did not fix the problem. It still only turns on half the time. I also originally before trying to fix the wire, replaced the case and we moved all the components into the new case. That did not fix the problem either. My friend suggested that it might be either a faulty motherboard or power supply. However I would love to have a good educated opinion so that I could just buy the one part the first time. At least I hope it is not a bigger problem.. Also I have checked in multiple houses and multiple differing outlets to see if it was a problem with the outlet itself, that turned out to be false. I have also replaced the surge protector as well. Oh and I have never overclocked my computer, not sure if that is prevalent or not. I went to the Asus Sabertooth Z77 Website. I have previously gone there to update the BIOS to the latest version. But I also updated for the first time the chipset. Which seems to have solved the problem. I have turned my computer off about ten times now. And it now turns on the first time I hit the power button. That is odd that it fixed it, but I am glad it ... Read more

It sounds like your usage overnight is causing it to reach a heat level forcing it to turn off. Note, Sleep and Hibernate are two different power modes. You need to find out which one you are actually using. On my laptops (Latitude E7240, Studio 1747, Alienware 18-R1), I do not use either. I have them disabled. I always have them plugged into the AC adapter. When I walk away from the laptop, the only powersave option is to turn the LCD off after 5 minutes. At the end of the work day, I save my data and close all applications. I then turn the laptops off (Click the Start button and then select Power > Shut down.).Sleep -The more apps you leave running, the more Windows has to save when put into sleep mode. Leaving a laptop in sleep all night is not good. Short intervals, fine, but it should be turned off overnight. Microsoft states, "Use sleep when you’re going to be away from your PC for just a little while—like when you’re taking a coffee break.".Hibernation (which I also do NOT use) -According to Microsoft, "Use hibernation when you know that you won't use your laptop or tablet for an extended period and won't have an opportunity to charge the battery during that time.".

Hi everyone! I have a question, my computer is basically not working so I'll try to explain everything as well as I can, any help would be appreciated!

I hadn't used my PC in a couple of months, then I got a new monitor and turned it on. Everything was great for about 15 minutes, after which the computer decided to restart, and would keep restarting about every second from there on, the fans and lights turn on and right away it restarts again, there's no time for the screen to turn on. The only way to stop this cycle is to turn off the power from the back.

After turning it on and off a few times and this always happening, I started getting a BIOS message "BIOS checksum bad". I figured it might be my motherboard battery so I replaced that. The message has since disappeared but the computer keeps restarting.

I then started isolating the components: swapped out ram sticks, let it run without a video card. However, it would always start the restart cycle at one point.

I was then looking through the bios settings and noticed that my South Bridge voltage is very inconsistent. It moves from about 1.3 to 1.1 and sometimes 0.9 (where it goes in the red). My guess is that that is the problem...what could be causing it though? All the other voltages are consistent. Is my MB fried or are there things I can do to potentially fix this? I've looked at all the capacitors and seem fine.

Here are my specs:

Only question that I have is what PSU you have and have you tested with a different one?

As to the constant auto restarts, to stop them right click
Code:
Computer
Properties
Advanced System Settings
Startup and Recovery
Uncheck Auto restart
OK out

You will get a blue screen next time it restarts, record the details on top, looks like URQL_IS_NOT_EQUAL (just an example but same format), and on the bottom there will be something like 0X0000007(blah blah blah). Just need the info to the left of the parentheses.

Someone else will have to help you with your dmp files. Good luck.

Makes me not want to go raid-0..

Any ideas on how to figure out why this is happening?

did this on 7 rc and rtm ultimate...so not os related unless driver issue..
prime-95 and memtest programs run flawlessly...
How can i get the smart info from the drives?
Attached is the log
Also, have done chkdsk and had it search for bad sectors, none found

Could it be from defrag? I use o&o and perfectdisk. Perfectdisk 10 for the boot-time defrag and o&o defrag 11 i use to defrag by name. Could one of these cause it?

Edit: Sence raid is from the MB, is it safe to disconnect one, run chkdsk and scan for bad sectors, one hdd at a time? Or would chkdsk find these w/out being a single drive in raid-1?

Hi: This is a peer to peer forum.  HP maintains no official presence here. The info in the service manual is incorrect.  All models listed in the service manual use DDR3 memory--Either PC3-8500 or PC3-10600 (which is backward compatible to PC3-8500). If you want to bring this matter to the attention of HP, you may do so at the link below. https://ssl.www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/connect-with-hp.html HP used to have a quickspecs link for all of their business notebooks but I can only find one for the 6440b that was uploaded to a 3rd party website. This document will have very detailed info on the 6440b and as you can see when you click on the pages, DDR3 memory is what they have.  See page 5. http://data2.manualslib.com/pdf3/68/6710/670980-hp_pavilion/probook_6440b.pdf?cf9c2d0bcce8ecea10da7b...

Hi there, the problem is this: when I start my computer and the video card loads, in the first screen shown during start up, it says that it is 64Mb, but in the System info it says that the Adapters Ram is only 32Mb. When playing Spider Man the Movie or Max Payne if there are some explotions the video gets real slow.
I was sold a 64Mb. Can anyone tell me if I got a 32Mb instead of 64Mb?
I have 512 Mb Ram DDR
Win XP Pro, Service Pack 1
AMD Athlon 2000, 1.667 GHz
Integrated Sound device in and MSI Motherboard( KT3 Ultra 2)

NVIDIA driver 4.4.0.3
I already tried updating the Nvidia drivers but it doesnot help.

Thanks

I should also probably add that this may have something to do with my university;

Due to the start of a new semester, the WiFi service is messed up- so I took steps to "restart" or "reinstall" the university WiFi. Namely, they had a file which I downloaded for Windows 7 specifically to make the setup automatic.

This browser extension stopped working on Windows 8/8.1, sort of...

I've searched and found that it may have something to do with NPAPI compatibility.

I said "sort of" because it stopped working only on my desktop PC, but works normally on my laptop.

Some guys suggested to set Chrome in compatibility mode with Windows 7, but it didn't do.

Any ideas why it works on one PC and not on the other? Both have the same version of Windows 8.1 Pro.

Maybe if I find why and how it is allowed to work on my laptop I can make it work on the desktop.

Here is the extension link (which I can't access using the desktop PC):

TIA.

Hi. I have win10 on my desktop, and win8 on my laptop. Windows explorer on both machines lists my OneDrive. But the win8 machine lists twice as many folders and files as win10. Neither machine lists any of the files as being on their hard drives.
How can this be? How can I view the same Onedrive account on two machines and see different content?
Thanks
David

Answer:Inconsistency in displayed content between Win8 and 10, how can I fix it?

Go to the browser OneDrive and see how much content you have there.

I've just noticed this so I thought I'd ask, I just completed a backup of my files I do monthly, I have a 2TB external HDD which holds backup copies from an internal 2TB, so they are both the same max size.

I highlighted and checked the size and size on disc of the files I backed up, they came back as exactly the same on both drives as you might expect, but in My Computer it says my internal 2TB has 161gb free, and my 2TB external has 147gb free, but they both have the same files, where is this 14 gigs of space on the external?

I have hidden files set to show, there's none. So I'm a little confused.

Answer:Odd free space inconsistency between drives

How was the backup done?

Backup and restore in windows or another 3rd part program? Or did you just drag and drop your files over?

Answer:Recovery Tool update inconsistency

That's the only method. Wipe it to 8.1 and then upgrade to w10m and then hard reset via settings app on w10m.

I have a java mail program which processes the e-mail.So, when my mail program retrieves a mail , in most cases it works fine. But there is one unique situation when this is failing. That unique situation is when somebody is forwarding the mail with attachment from entourage. The MIME type is this case is video/x-flv, where as the attachment is a .xls file. But the original mail coming from the same client(not forwarded) is coming with MIME type application/vmd-excel.Appreciate if someone can explain me why there is this change in MIME type.

I have a home workgroup with a cable modem, router, and two computers, call them A and B. A has a network share, which used to be visible on the network to computer B.

A few months ago that stopped working. I checked the network settings on both computers (tcp/ip protocols and other settings) are identical. Computer B can see computer A on the network, but when I click on it to view shares, or try to go directly to the share, I get "windows cannot access \\server\drive." Click Diagnose and get "the remote device or resource won't accept the connection."

What's really strange is, if I open windows explorer on computer A, it also can see itself on the network. But when I double click on computer A in Network, I get the same errors as above! Apparently, computer A cannot even see it's own shares.

I looked carefully and don't see any problems with the security settings.

Any advice on figuring this out would be appreciated!
