Multiple Address Books in OE

Question: Multiple Address Books in OE

I need to setup a Address Book that will be changed on a monthly basis, I create a CSV file and import it into Netscape 4.79 right now. My issue is I would like to get rid of Netscape and switch to Outlook Express, but i'm having trouble with adding a new Address Book. I can create a folder and import it into the Main Identity Address Book and move them to the new folder. This will only work for the initial setup, as soon as people use they will have there own contacts, and I will not be able to move them. I was hoping there was a way to import a Folder, with the contacts already listed. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Multiple Address Books in OE

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Perhaps someone can tell me what the easiest and cheapest way is to be able to have multiple address books. Also, the easiest and best, though not the cheapest. I just need four or five each with no more than fifty addresses. Thanks, grandpaw

How do I take some of my contacts in outlook 2002, and change their location? I would like to have a personal address book, and a business address book. Where do I start? Any help is appreciated.

Answer:Multiple address books?

In the Folder List, right click your Contacts and create two new folders for your Personal Address book and Business Address book. Once created, all you have to do is drag & drop the contacts into the proper location.
When sending an email. Click on the "To..." then on the drop down menu titled, "Show names from the:" where you can select the proper folder to grab the email address.

Hi,

I was wondering if there's a way to make and modify multiple address books. I subscribe to a website that allows me to import my OE email addresses, but I only want to import certain email addresses, not the whole WAB. I tried making a copy of my existing primary WAB, re-naming it and deleting certain contacts, but it directly affected/changed my primary WAB at the same time (synchronized?). Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Merry Christmas!!!!!

Monty

Edit: I have OE 6 on a Win XP Pro SP2 desktop.

Hi,

I've been trying to export my Yahoo!'s address book to MS's address book for a number of years now.

The individual addresses will be exported in a .CVS file for any program that does .CVS but the .cvs file will not include folders and even if it would the addresses and folders are separated and not left intact.

Does anyone know a solution for this?

How can one get the address book that you want to export get duplicated exactly as it is with "addresses in the folders" that you use all intact?

Anyone?

Question: ADDRESS BOOKS

Could anyone tell me the best way to organise my ADDRESS BOOK and be able to print ADDRESS LABELS from it.Cheers.

Answer:ADDRESS BOOKS

I doubt if this is the best, or cheapest way, but we use MS Access, with the addresses set up in a table together with supplementary data as needed. The addresses can then be printed as labels via Access's labels form template.Probably similar facilities exist in cheaper or free Database packages.

I have a friend that just had his computer reloaded. He is using OUtlook 2000 for his contacts and calendar, and using outlook express 6.0 for email. He likes the outlook express because it puts the attatchment right under the subject line.
Now, he states he has address in his outlook express and is putting address into outlook, I have know idea why. But he stated that when he adds a contact in Outlook that he could add it to his groups list in his Outlook express. (confused yet?) But now, when he puts a contact in OUtlook, it is not appearing in Outlook express address book.

If you understand what I just said, do you have any suggestions?

I am now using just Thunderbird, however, each time I imported my OE address book into TB I got a new address book so that I now have three address books listed on Thunderbird. Not all my email addresses are in one book so I constantly have to search each address book in order to find the correct address. How do I combine these three address books into one address book?

Answer:E-mail Address Books

I am not sure about Hotmail, but if you check Yahoo E-mail HELP, and look for export/import you get the following directions for exporting your address book to Outlook Express:http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ab/impexp/impexp-12.html:"First, export the information from your Yahoo! Address Book: 1. Open your Yahoo! Address Book and click "Import/Export" in the upper-right corner. 2. In the Export section, click "Export Now" next to the phrase "Microsoft Outlook." 3. A dialog window opens and gives you the option to save your Yahoo! Address Book to disk as a .csv file. Click "Save to Disk". 4. Click "OK". The .csv file will be saved to your desktop. Next, import that file into Outlook Express: 1. Open Microsoft Outlook Express. 2. Select "Import" from the "File" menu. 3. From the "File" menu, select "Other Address Book." 4. Select the file type "Text File (Comma Separated Values)." 5. Click the "Import" button. 6. Enter the location and name of the file you exported from Yahoo! or use the "Browse" button to find the file. Then click the "Next" button. 7. Answer:Importing Address Books in W8 Outlook.com

Are you using Outlook 2013, or the default Outlook program that came with Windows 8?

If you are using the mail app that came with Windows, you can't "import" your contacts, because the app is actually a browser interface. Instead, if you are using a web-based mail program like Hotmail, Gmail, you add that email account to the mail app.

If you are trying to import the information from a .pst file, you will need to upload the contacts to Hotmail or Outlook.com via another Outlook client -- not the app, but the Outlook program that comes bundled with Office.

We run Terminal Server 4 with Citrix Metaframe. We have Outlook for the users to get their email with. (No one has a PC, everyone is on WYSE WinTerm thinclients). I have created a Personal Address Book for everyone to use but when people go to access it maybe 2 or 3 people can use it. The rest of the people get an error saying you cant log in to the PAB. How do I make this work?

Answer:Outlook 97 and Personal Address Books

I don't think you can share a PAB. Get everyone out of it Outlook. Have a person who was previously unable to get into the PAB, try again.

I'm not familiar at all with your hardware. But, you can't put PSTs or PABs on network shares because it's like any other unshareable file--it's in use. Since the PAB would be in use when Joanie has Outlook open, Joanie has to close Outlook for Jimmie to get into the PAB.

If you're using a mail server you should be able to set up a global address list.

If you aren't, then the best I can suggest is to have one person be in charge of the address list--everybody submits changes to that person. Once a week, or however often, she puts out a new PAB with instructions to save it to their desktop, close Outlook, overwrite old PAB with new PAB, open Outlook.

Sucks. I know. I hope I've misunderstood what you want.

I have a large number of contacts in my address book in Outlook 2007. I want to create a different address book for a small sub group of these addresses and despite numerous attempts I am unable to do so. I have followed the example in the help section of Outlook but this doesn?t work.

Answer:Different address books in Outlook 2007

This works in 2003, not sure about 2007: click on Contacts, where you have the list of Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks etc (mine is at the bottom left of the Outlook screen). This should then show the Contacts folder in the blank bit of screen above it. Right click on Contacts, select New Folder and call it what you like. Then go back to your original Contacts, open the folder and thendrag and drop the ones you want to move.If it doesn't work for 2007, my humble apologies!

Does anyone know of a way to do a partial export/import of an address book? I have set up a group within OE that contains a list of club members, and I want to send it to other members. However, exporting my address book seems to capture the whole address book, not just the group. Sooooo I imported everything from Outlook Express, and much to my dismay, all of my contacts were piled into one group.

How do you organize them? Just create a different "address book" for each group? Is there an extension that makes organization easier?

Also, which Thunderbird extensions do you use?

Answer:Organizing Thunderbird address books

I haven't found an extension to make it easier... I just manually made different addressbooks and split my contacts up, remembering to keep a copy in the individual addressbook as well as the "collected addresses" (or personal address book - it's for the spam filter).

As for extensions, I use the addressbook sidewindow, which places a sidewindow underneath my accounts for quick access, minimize to tray, and webmail extension with the HOtmail and Yahoo extensions for getting my webmail.

I'm on a MacBook Pro running 10.6.4 and using Thunderbird 3.0.6. (I've been with the Mac 2 years and with Thunderbird much longer, pretty much without problems.) I spent most of yesterday editing some address books and set up a couple of new lists. Today, I find my new address books have vanished without a trace.

I can't pin down relevant differences between the list of .mab files that show now in my directory ("finder" data/library/T-bird) and those that appear in the time machine back-up from a few days ago. In both there are address books 1, 2, and 5, no 3 no 4). But I don't usually view this directory and may not have a good eye for what counts. When I attempt to open the back-up copies, which I think I can do only with T-bird, it appears I am shunted to the new data.

Should I assume the work I did is lost and gone forever?

All of my contact lists are saved "last name first" in the "file as" box in the individual contact record. I have enabled all of my contact lists as "show this folder as an E-mail Address Book" in the properties for that folder.

When I click on the "To" button to address a new message the contact lists show first name first. All of them are shown this way other than the "global".

How can I change these to show last name first?

Answer:e-mail address books, Outlook 2000

By default the eprsonal address book shows Last Name First Name and the Global always shows First Name Last Name. You can change the personal one in the address book properties, but I think Exchange is always that way for the global list.

Address booksThe two default address books ("abook.mab" and "history.mab") can be copied directly from one profile folder to another. (This includes copying them from a Mozilla Suite profile or Netscape 7 profile to a Thunderbird profile.) Thunderbird will automatically recognize these address books when it starts up and you will be able to use them right away. I am the tech support for my father and I'm having difficulty finding an answer to a problem. Prior to upgrading him from Windows 7 to 10, he could make envelopes in WordPerfect 12 using his address books from SeaMonkey. When choosing the address, his address books from SeaMonkey 2.35 would show in Corel Address Book 8. Now they do not. We reverted back to Windows Seven, but the problem remained. Since the issue occurred with Windows version changes, I logically assume the question belongs here.

I've remoted in and seen the following errors. On the first attempt to open the "Other" address book I see this:There is no email program association to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel.

This error only appears once unless I exit and restart WordPerfect. When I click okay, I see the following error:MAPI Address Books will not be available. Please check the information services set up in the active user profile and your installation of Windows Messaging.

I've checked and SeaMonkey Mail is the default email client. When checking the association for .mapimail, I changed it to SeaMonkey from Unknown Application, but it did not help. I cannot find a solution anywhere. I've even tried the Mozillazine forum. There have been 1100 views and not a single response. Does anyone have an idea what I can try next?

I have Thunderbird as an e-mail client on both my XP desktop and my Win 7 laptop. I managed to create the many lists I had in OE under "Personal Address Book" in T-bird on the desktop. I then imported it into T-bird on the laptop, naming it the same as the T-bird default ("Personal Address Book"), assuming it would overwrite the existing book of the same name. Didn't. So I now have two address books with the same name.

No problem, I thought; just delete the original one. Can't; the delete option is dimmed when I try to delete it. Tried deleting all the addresses in it. Still can't delete it.

Mozilla's "help" site is the worst help site I've ever encountered, so no help there. So how can I get rid of the now empty Personal Address Book?

Answer:Solved: Importing address books from T-bird

Imports always come in as a new, separate AB.
The PAB can't be deleted as it's permanently linked to it's Abook.mab data file in the Profile folder, it's the default and you can't delete the default.

If I understand correctly, you've got an Address Book you've Imported with everything you want and have emptied out the original Personal Address Book.
Basically what you want to do is have the Imported book replace the PAB.
You can do that by swapping the appropriate .mab files in the Profile folder.
If you've Imported and/or created a few Address Books, this can be a bit confusing as each will have it's own data file and they are not named the same as the AB in the display.

abook.mab is the primary PAB
Each user created AB will have a corresponding file sequentially numbered. abook-1.mab,abook-2.mab, etc

history.mab is the file for Collected Addresses

impab.mab is for Imported AB's
Each additional Imported AB will be sequentially numbered. impab-1.mab, impab-2.mab, etc.

Assuming you've only created one Imported AB, you simply delete the abook.mab and rename the impab.mab to abook.mab and it will display in the PAB.
If you've Imported more than one, it can be a "crap shoot" as even if you've deleted the Imported book in T-bird, the mab file sometimes stays and the next Import will be the next numbered impab.mab.

In case you need this to get to the Profile folder.

My machine runs Window XP and has Works 7.0. The previous version of Works allowed the importing of a single address on to a label for printing. This facility has changed and, from what I have read in the new Computing Which?, I can only import a single address from the Outlook address book. Are these two address books different? I don't use Outlook. My tedious solution was to create a Works database of addresses, make up a labels document containing them all and copy from that to a label if I need a single address. I could do it in outlook, but can't find how to do it in live mail. I made a seperate contact list but can access anyone in it, just the whole thing everyone in it goes in the email. Thanks

Answer:address books in widows live mail

The basic program, like Windows Mail and Outlook Express before it, has one address book if you use it locally (without signing in to Windows Live Mail). If you sign in with your LiveID you will also have a contact list for each LiveID you set up at Live.com. If all you want to do is divide your contacts into groups (called "categories") you can do that within the same ID or even locally without signing in. The Contacts window of WLM should have an option called "Add a Category" for the purpose assigning contacts to groups.

Hi
my address books are messed up.
collected is there, personal is empty and my business one just disappeared.

I went to my profile folder and the abook.mab files are still there and populated.

A few days before I was having trouble with address books, so I researched online, found info about corrupted abooks and sure enough found a lot of garbage in the files such as <(80=0)> {1:^80 {(k^C0:c)(s=9)} [1:^82(^BF=0)]} which I deleted.

Now I am following directions from this post
http://forums.techguy.org/web-email/792343-thunderbird-abooks.html
but it's not working.

When I look at the new abook-4 file created for the new address book, it already has the above garbage in it.

When I delete the new abook-4 file and then rename the file that does have the addresses in it to abook-4, and then go back to thunderbird, the new address book is empty.

Now what?

I'm guessing I need to back-up the abooks that have addresses in them, and create a new profile, and then copy the populated abooks to the new profile, after making sure any garbage is deleted?

How do address books gets corrupt in the first place?
How do I prevent it from happening?

thanks in advance!

Hi everyone

Hope this finds all with something to smile about in the New Year, had a bit of a problem at work (see attachment)

I re-did an email profile on someone’s computer, (via remote) so it should have pulled down the most up to date address book from our exchange.

However as you can see from the left one (which is my address book at work, which I have recently updated), with the persons current profile and job title, but the one on the right is the profile I re-did

In his address book it shows a very old email address and a job title that the email recipient has not held in years in fact this profile is not only not in use anymore, it has been a long time since it was actually disabled and its also on another domain.

My user had to type in the more up to date email address and just rely on auto complete to communicate with him.

I don’t understand what has happened here, this is the first time this has happen after many I have done over the last couple of months, amongst other jobs that have cropped up with this migration.

I asked the user if he had created this address book as I noticed his address next to where it says global address book but he has not ever added anyone.

Any clues as to what I may have done or missed, as I am looking to redoing his profile again but I want to understand where I may have gone wrong first before continuing

I recently reformatted my HD and saved all of my .pst and .pab files on another disk. I imported my contacts and address books, though only 4 of 5 were imported. However, while they appear on my Navigation pane, I can only access the Contacts folder through the Navigation pane. I can, however, access my Contacts and Address books when I open a message, click "To' and use the pull-down menu in "Show names from the". Any suggestions as to how I can access them in my Navigation pane?

Thank you,

Jeffrey

I'm getting a new computer and I was wondering if there is an easy way to export e-mails and a personal address book from Outlook 97 to the new computer which will have outlook 2000.

I figure the inbox can just be exported as a .pst file (is that right?) But I can't figure out what to do about the address book.

Answer:exporting emails and address books to a network drive

Your Personal Address Book is stored as a PAB file. Check your current settings (Tools/Services/Personal Address Book), to determine where the current file is being saved. If it's being stored on a network drive, you only need to point to that location when you configure your new copy of Outlook. If it is being stored on the C: drive, copy it to a network location you have access to and configure your new copy of Outlook to point to this location.

We often establish our users PAB file on the network just so that it makes it easier down the road to re-establish settings if they get a a different PC.... don't have to move files from one hard drive to another. We also store their PST files on the network for the same reason.

Hi

I have an old Dell desktop which is due to be replaced but I need to find some info off it first.

There were 4 user accounts on there and only last week, I changed over ISP. It runs the windows xp 2000 home edition with a service pack 2.

Since the change over, the Dell has been playing up and I have done a system restore twice whilst extracting files etc for the changeover, and just as I want to go in to get my address book, it will no longer let me go back far enough to system restore point where I have all the accounts again. How can I find the individual Outlook Express accounts?

Your help appreciated :)

Howdy!I have multiple workbooks that each have multiple sheets. I would like to capture all of the Row 1 data from each of those sheets on one Master spreadsheet. No computing needed; just don't want to copy/paste 250 times. Many thanks in advance!

Answer:Need Row 1 data from multiple spreadsheets/books to 1 sheet

I can't take credit for the original code, but I did modify it to copy Row 1 of each sheet from each .xlsx file in the referenced folder into Sheet 1 of the workbook in which the code resides.I suggest that you try this in a new workbook so that you don't overwrite anything in a existing workbook in case things go terribly wrong. All of the files you are copying from have to reside in the same folder and you have to change this line to reflect that folder:Const strPath As String = "C:\Documents and Settings\DerbyDad03\Test Folder\"The original code can be found here:http://www.ozgrid.com/VBA/2007-file...Sub CopySameSheetFrmWbs()
Dim wbOpen As Workbook
'Change Path
Const strPath As String = "C:\Documents and Settings\DerbyDad03\Test Folder\"

Dim strExtension As String

'Comment out the 3 lines below to debug
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Application.Calculation = xlCalculationManual
On Error Resume Next

ChDir strPath
'Change extension if required
strExtension = Dir("*.xlsx")

'Loop through .xlsx files in folder
Do While strExtension <> ""
Set wbOpen = Workbooks.Open(strPath & strExtension)
'Open each source workbook, loop through sheets, copy Row 1, Close source
With wbOpen
For sht = 1 To .Sheets.Count
nxtDstRw = nxtDstRw + 1

Hello.

I currently maintain 15 websites, for various different DIY products. Each website has its own email address. We have some one who deals with all email enquiries. We are noticing large amounts of spam. It has been suggested that we use a single email address for all 15 websites.

Other than its going to be a nightmare editing all of the websites to 1 email address, what other pros and cons are there for this idea.
Thanks

Michael

Answer:Multiple Email Address' or a single address

not sure how this will reduce the spam necessarily.

a good spam filter may help.
o you know which email is giving you the most spam

I have about 5 websites and emails and get spam in most of them, infact one email I use most of the time for webuse and that gets most of the spam

127.0.0.1 is the Localhost, and no it is not normal to have it attempting to access the Internet. Sounds like you may have some deeper issues that may mean cleaning Malware off of said machine.

I have some IOT devices that the manufacture decided would be a good idea to hard code the IP address in (Not user changeable)
I have 4 of these devices and they are all hard coded to 192.168.1.254. Half appreciating the problem I have connected them directly to 4 separate Ethernet ports on my PC using cross over cables and configured those ports as 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.2,
192.168.1.3 & 192.168.1.4 respectively. No idea what netmask I should use, and if I should give each one a gateway address.
Now can anybody think of a way I can actually access these devices? I feel I need to be spoofing something, or doing some weird routing. They only need to be accessed by this one PC, so I don't need to worry about forwarding packets to the outside
world or anything.
Any help greatly appreciated - currently trying to 'hack' the firmware in these devices so I can change their IP addresses. But would proberbly be easier.

Thanks, Keith

Hoping someone has more information on this than I can find

Environment info:
Windows Small business server 2008
BES express 5.0.1
Syncing company contacts public folder (over 11k contacts)

The issue is that some contacts list the address funny
example address: 110 street name, 10 street name, 0 street name

Its not a huge deal, since we have fixed most issues with this BES server, however any info would be great

Answer:BES multiple address in contacts

There are actually two different address books, and our recommendations would be different depending on the book we're talking about.

If it's the user's address book, then I'd check their mailbox and see if there is any corruption.

If it's the system address book, then I'd nuke it from the database and resync it.

I can't find a single person at the phone company who can answer these questions.

We have a commercial DSL account that gives 5 static IP addresses. Obviously, one of them is being used by the router connected to the modem. How prey-tell do we use the other 4?

Answer:Multiple IP address DSL account

You may have to assign them statically. Ask your providor if they use DHCP or not. If they do not then ask them for your default gateway, subnet mask, and DNS. They should be able to provide those. Once you get the answer, we will take it from there.

I am running MS Works Suite 2003 which includes MS Works7 and MS Word 2002 on Win XP. I have transferred my address data base which was compiled on MS Works 4, to a new data base on Works 7. When using Word 2000 I had no difficulty in selecting ?Labels? from ?envelopes and labels? on my Word document and printing a sheet of labels from my Works 4 data base. Now that I have ?upgraded? to MS Word 2003 and Works 7 I find that the programme works quite differently and I cannot get MS Word to read the data base. I get a message:-?Office cannot use Works files that contain formulas for mail merge. Remove the formula from this file to use it as a data source.?Questions:-1. What is the formula to which the message relates? My data base consist simply of names and addresses laid out in standard Works Data Base format under headed columns (fields) and numbered rows (records). There are no formulae involved that I can remove.2. How else can I get Word 2002 to recognise my Works7 data base? (I cannot contemplate retyping a hundred and fifty names and address onto a new address book!)NB. I do not have MS Office on my PC as this was not bundled with Works Suite 2003, neither do I have Excel. I have tried copying my data base as a Works Spreadsheet but that is not read either.Any suggestions from the field please?Rubroy

Hi,
I'm having an intermittent problem with my wireless network. (I'm posting because I haven't seen many cases of 'limited to no connectivity' with multiple computers).
Both my roommate and I are having 'limited to no connectivity' intermittently. Both computers can be connected through the LAN (and comcast said that there was nothing wrong with the modem - for all the help that gives). I had set up the wireless from my computer and had recently upgraded to Windows 7 (maybe 2 weeks ago) and the other computer is still on xp. I tried to reconfigure the wireless through my computer and then through hers, with the same results.
When I tried to do the auto windows troubleshooting it said that the problem it found was an invalid IP address. When my roommate tried to repair (and reconfigure the IP address) separately, she was unable to do so.
I guess my inane question of the day is where is the IP address renewed initially? (the computer, the modem?...)

And now for information that i've seen people ask for:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
{run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector} Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC

http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifitools.php
Direct link to the program is here http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifi_download_redirect.php
Then run and install the program
if you get an error - You need NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.

Run the program

post a screen shot of the program running - if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information, and also post which network "Adapter Name" (1st column) is yours on the list

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

how can I fix this so it only displays their name with their e-mail address?

Hi,

I'm using Firefox 3.5.5. In older versions, I was taken directly to web pages after going to the address bar and typing in multiple keywords (separated by spaces), and then hitting the 'go' arrow.....When I try that now, I get "url is not valid and cannot be loaded".

In the past, for example, I could type MLB Scores ESPN, and upon hitting the 'go' arrow, I'd be taken directly to ESPN's MLB Scoreboard.

Perhaps something can be tweaked within Firefox's About:Config ?

My wife and I both use the same PC running XP Home. We have seperate profiles that we log into and, in the past, have used Outlook Express to download our seperate emails. To align ourselves with how we do it at work, we have started to use Outlook 2003. However, I do not seem to be able to seperate our emails now. Whoever is logged on, when we hit "send/receive" we get all emails sent to either of us.I believe the problem is with our ISP, Waitrose. Our addresses are:[email protected][email protected]My username is [email protected], so I assume the email addresses are just "pointing" at this server location? This was easy to get round using Outlook Express and alias addresses with message rules. Is there a similar way of seperating our messages using Outlook 2003?

Like the title sais i have been getting BSOD randomly every few days for the last 2 weeks, there is nothing in particular i have been able to find that triggers this. The BSOD is always caused by Driver ntoskrnl.exe + 14e7co. I recently built this PC about 3 weeks ago as im taking it to University with me.

I've attached a zip file of 2 of my most recent BSOD and the dm log collector file i was specified to do so, thanks for the assistance.

Answer:BSOD Randomly, multiple Error Codes but all from same address

Agreed that all the dumps indicate ntoskrnl but that is not a driver, it's part of the Windows kernel and not the cause of the problem. It just happens to be in control (which it often is) when the problem occurs.

All the dumps indicate some kind of memory corruption. This can be caused by defective RAM or by a faulty driver. You have 16GB of ram so lets check that first and if okay then turn on Driver Verifier and see if that shows anything.

Hi

I have a filter set up on my Outlook e-mail which does the following:

- Check mail when it arrives
- Move messages to 'EXTERNAL MAIL' folder
- Except where 'Sender' is in 'GLOBAL ADDRESS LIST'.

Great, all my external e-mail is filtered from my inbox. This means that I can focus on my inbox and deal with important stuff before I sift through all the junk in my external mail folder.

But then I get external e-mail that I want to stay in my inbox (eg. From my wife!).

So I have added another exception 'Except if from '[email protected]' or '[email protected]' etc.

What I would really like to do is have exceptions that say:

- Except where 'Sender' is in 'GLOBAL ADDRESS LIST' or 'CONTACTS'.

That way as soon as I add someone to my contacts, their e-mail doesn't get filtered out. I can then see an e-mail and think 'Oh, I don't want that one filtered next time', add the sender to my contacts and job done.

However, it seems taht you can only have ONE 'except if sender is in specified address book' exception.

Does anyone know a way round this?

Thanks

Ben

A friend of mine recently started getting a lot of emails from people on her contact list saying that they look like spam. They asked her if she sent these emails and of course, she didn't. She has changed her password but the problem persists. She has run a number of different scans and that hasn't solved the problem either. Is there anything that can be done?

Answer:A friend's email address is on multiple emails to contacts

If her contact list has been hacked, it can't be undone. If they have the contact list, changing the password will not change anything. Sounds like she needs to lock down her phone better. She needs to be more careful, and check all her privacy settings. Have her create a new email and let her contacts know. People don't realize that they are granting the world access to their personal information with these phones. Google+, Facebook, instagram, Pinterest, etc.... they all access ALL your personal info by default, and makes it simple for others to gain access.

I would like to know if it is possible and if so how to setup Multiple External IP Address to computer on my network,

Lets just say my Multiple External IP Address are 123.123.123.050, 123.123.123.100, 123.123.123.150

I would like 123.123.123.050 to serve all lan / wan unit on internal ip range 192.168.001.xxx, as default. firewall on.
I would like 123.123.123.100 to serve a single unit on internal ip address 192.168.002.100, forward all ports, no firewall needed.
I would like 123.123.123.150 to serve a single unit on internal ip address 192.168.003.100, forward all ports, no firewall needed.

If I can not use 192.168.002.100 & 192.168.003.100, can I set the same, but use say 192.168.001.100 & 192.168.001.200?

Thanks for your time.

Best Regards.

Answer:Linksys WAG160N Version 1 - Multiple External IP Address

I see nothing in the specifications of that router that suggest it handles multiple WAN addresses. You need to spend more money to get a router with that capability.

There is a feature in Excel known as Data...Text To Columns which is typically used to split long strings in one column into multiple columns.Read the Excel Help files on that feature and see if it works for you. If you need any further assistance with your specific situation, please click on the blue line at the end of this post, and after reading the instructions found via that link, post some examples of your data and we'll see if we can offer any other suggestions. DDS locked my machine up for about 60 seconds when I tried to run it. I posted under "am I infected" [Win 7 HP Laptop Shuts down when running virus scan AND intermittently]
on Sept 4th out of desperation (as my machine was getting worse) - before I read how to properly post. I've tried to post since but my machine wont run long enough - until I ran various tools following various threads with similar issues. The machine shuts down after 65% when running a virus scan. Recently it started skipping to 57% during the Security Descriptor part of chkdsk. I found I have 3-4 multicasts going on (255.255.255.255). I've disabled IPV6, but still have 2.
I found Indexing was changed to "internet explorer temp files... I had it start to index C drive, and noticed it was turning folders I use on my desktop into "Hidden AND Read only" with the hidden attrib unchangable. In the last 3 days - My video has been randomly going crazy before the machine shuts off. I've got an Intel Core i3 CPU (dual or quad core I believe) 2.53Ghz with 4 Gigs of ram
Below the DDS report, I pasted a piece of my GMER log from Sept 8 - hopefully someone with experience with infections will recognise the scary things under the "USER Code" section - as there are 20+ more entrys just like it (they are still there as of 2 days ago).
I hope thats enough info to figure something out... I'm afraid the machine will shut off before I hit the post button (Again)! Please HELP!

so ive been trying to fix this issue for weeks on end. no luck!

first of all, my router is one of the standard comcast xfinity routers. the nicer ones they provide i believe.

ive never had the greatest connection considering i have my rig on the top floor, but it was never horrible till recently. shows full bars yet doesnt connect at all. i tried virus scans, resetting the router, and just yesterday (since i needed a new one anyways) i dropped 60 bucks on a netgear thumbdrive adapter. im picking up some dudes roku a mile away now that things a beast. but no cigar, problems persist.

i brought the rig downstairs and its sitting next to the router now. it works well besides randomly not working for 10 to 20 minutes a handful of times. im on it atm but it aint gonna fly down here, i need it upstairs.

these problems coincided with a new network my wifi picked up. my neighbor mustve upgraded routers or something. i thought it might be interfering with mine considering theres is xfinity as well and is insecure. someone mentioned i should try changing the ip address. knowing little about that i gave it my best shot and i noticed when i enter ipconfig/release there are large amounts of files that say "media state....... media disconnected". and a large amount of tunnel adapters. help pls!

Answer:Wifi issues, multiple reasons why it may not work possibly IP address

ok i know i messed something up cuz now my ipod doesnt work at all. just saying, it says unable to connect to network. its never said that in all the years ive lived here

Hi there! First post. My question to all you tech-ies out there.
I am currently running 10 computers attached via wired network to a server running xp pro at my business. From home, I have set up remote desktop so that I can log in to my server and operate the software I need to from home, using the server as another workstation.
I am looking at uprgrading a few other computers to XP pro, (yeah) or sadly Vista Business (boo) which will allow connections to those computers too. I know about port forwarding, because I had to with the server that is connecting to the Web by a D-Link router. I want to make my salesmens computers which will have remoted desktop host enabled on them to be available from their offsite computers. I've searched the web, and found a few diff. ideas on this, but would like your opinions on this one that I found. My questions is, can the connections from offsite be performed concurrently.
"Well, you could make it a whole lot easier on yourself and just setup port forwarding on your work router like this:
external port -> internal IP -> local port
3889 -> 192.168.0.50 -> 3889
4889 -> 192.168.0.51 -> 3889
5889 -> 192.168.0.52 -> 3889
In this case, you now have one pass-thru and two redirected ports. This means you don't need to modify anything on each host, only the network configuration changes. Note you can reach each rdp session remotely using your public IP address and one of the external ports. Say your public ... Read more

hi i have a problem with understanding PIM-SM multicast tree. i just cant figgure why there is a (2001:DB8:1111:1111::1, FF08:1111) tree with shared tree (*,FF08::1111) on R3 router.
i have been spending a lot of time on that problem and just cant figgure that out. one more important thing is that R3 does not process each multicast packet from FF08::1111 twice.
here are pictures with relevant information
Please help

Answer:IPv6 Multicast - multiple join on one Multicast address

just to be clear - i understand why is R3 member of shared tree - but i have no idea why is also member of source-specific tree.

I have a new problem with windows live mail .

As a free product it is a good basic product which i use for at least 4 e-mail accounts .I have now come accross a new problem to me in that i installed for a friend and she send out lots of invitations for dinner parties and such , which involves sending the same mail to up to 5 or 6 addresses .She has now came up with the following error when sending a mail with 4 addresses .It either just sits in her outbox or she gets a message saying she has to fill in a box with capcha box which is usually nearly undeciferable .She has no problem senidng to 1 or 2 e-mail addresses .Another point is that she has recently moved from Virgin media to Sky broadband (if it makes a difference ) .Can anybody help as she is not a spammer or anything like that just wants to send mails to her friends .This is Livemail 2011

Thanks for anybodys time

regards,

peter

Answer:Live mail Multiple e-mail address sending

The use of captchas has, unfortunately, grown recently. I have the same problem sending emails from my yahoo address at times. The only suggestion I can make is to use gmail, which at present doesn't seem to be using them on outgoing mail.

Does anyone know why local IP addresses listed in my packet log would be different than my local IP address given me by my ISP?

In my log I noticed that suddenly I have 5 different local IP addresses apart from my IP.

I am Local Address and I am Local Host but also listed are different IP's as Local Address and Local Host.

The ones showing up as local address and local host with me are

bas12-ottawa23-1177954396.dsl.bell.ca
c-24-19-73-23.hsd1.wa.comcast.net
201-68-114-89.dsl.telesp.net.br
68-184-63-6.dhcp.mtgm.al.charter.com
71-13-35-156.dhcp.dlth.mn.charter.com
CPE00146cefbe35-CM001225401f80.cpe.net.cable.rogers.com

All of these on the list sent 1 or more UDP packets to my ISP.

All of my packets under my IP address are TCP.

So how can they and I both be Local Address and Local Host and using different IP addresses?

Question: Books on XP

I am just wondering if their are any books that explain windows xp in high detail. For example explaining the architectural design of it, and what each file is for?

Answer:Books on XP

I think I saw a book like that at a library, but don't remember the name. They are usually near 005 Dewey Decimal. I think they can also be shelved in another section also, beside reference. You could go there and look for XP in the title. They are probably starting to get rid of them now that Microsoft stopped supporting it, though. That's what happened to several of my favorite computer books there. I found alternate material on the Internet, though. I did a quick google and found NTFS.com, which talks about the file system. http://www.ntfs.com/ntfs-system-files.htm is a table of hidden system files.
Also, http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&newwindow=1&q=xp+system+architecture&btnG=Search

Question: One For The Books

This one may win the "most insane Vista issue " yet award. I have an HP laptop running Vista Home Premium and, other than being a bit slow to start, performs everything else just fine. I am currently taking on on-line class (I spend a lot of time on the road and need portable capability-hence the laptop), and it requires a CD that I received from Ivy Software. After placing the CD in the drive, I immediately receive an "Authorware Runtime has stopped working." Vista of course checks for a solution and finds none. Now here's the cool part: I place said CD in my work computer (Windows XP SP2) and it works fine. Must be the laptop or Vista you say, yep, me too.

Here's what I tried (after talking to Ivy tech. spt for an hour who had never heard of this before): disable all AV/Spyware/Malware/Defender etc. programs-no change
Disable UAC-no change
Disable DEP-no change
Go into properties of the Start program and change Compatibility tab to other OS (5 others to be exact)-no change
Scan for virsues with 4 different scanners-no problems but, no change
Scan for SW/MW-none, no change
Run HijackThis-no issues, no BHOs of note, no other conflicts
Run other CDs-fine
Download the newest versions of Macromedia (Authorware is written in Flash)-no change
Reboot-no change
Copy all the files to a new folder and then try to run-no change

So, with the exception of installing XP, either on a separate partition or in virtual mode, I am at my wit's end. Any help would b... Read more

Answer:E-BOOKS

You are probaly better trying on the Ebay forums as there are thousands of these Ebooks for sale. There are programmes for this but they fleece you as much as the Ebooks......click here I wouldn't spend too much as no one makes much from the sale of Ebooks. You can always design your own.......click here and there is loads to read here click hereG
