Web page fails to load some parts

Question: Web page fails to load some parts

One web page has a split pane. The right side loads fine but the left side only shows the little file icon. None of my other pages have this problem and I the page works fine from other computers. I use MS Explorer 5.0.
I tried various things in the Advanced Internet Options utility. Any ideas?

Preferred Solution: Web page fails to load some parts

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The title says it all. This has been an ongoing problem that I've kind of been putting off to the side, and it should probably be addressed. Whenever my computer informs me that I have an update, I click the little icon and it brings up the windows update page... and I wait. Then it gives me the message "This page failed to load". any solutions?

Sometimes if I am lucky and click back the post is still there but just now it had disappeared and I had to retype it and find the links again...gets a bit annoying! This doesn't happen on any other forum site I visit.

Yes, it has happened to me on a few occasions.I now type up all my responses in Word and then copy and paste. If it doesn't work then I don't have to retype the response just copy and paste again.

I own a Lenovo G530 which is running Window XP Service Pack 3. I have run into some problem which concerns the USB ports. Yesterday, I inserted a USB flash drive (pen drive) into one of the port. Since then, the My Computer page fails to load. A flash light icon appears and keeps searching for drivers and folders forever. The drivers themselves are accessible through the command prompt or through the Run interface.

After this problem occurred, I tried to shut-down the system but it hung on Saving Your Settings. I did force shutdown through the power button. After re-starting the system, the problem persists. My Computer view is stuck in the scan phase. Also, I am unable to use my USB internet data card.

How can make my computer functional again? Please advice.

Answer:USB malfunction preventing system shutdown and My Computer page fails to load

first thing i would try is open a command prompt and type in sfc /scannow . this would allow windows to repair some minor problems. if that doesn't work, i would be suspicious of some type of infection.

Hi,
I troubleshooting this "an ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe to interact with other parts of the page." This is not an error by itself but... I troubleshooting why you cant open an .doc fil from a intranet with word. 1. You go to an Intranet
page with your IE8/IE9. 2. You click on an .doc file. 3. you got this massage "an ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe to interact with other parts of the page." 4. you have Yes and No option 5. You click yes. 6. a white small IE window open. 7 the
.doc file was expected to open./SaiTech

Answer:an ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe to interact with other parts of the page.

If you trust the site go to internet options, security section,
Custom level button,
Scroll all the way to the bottom and check on disable xss filtering, apply and okay,
Close and reopen a window.

Here is the list of the problems in order of which I noticed things going awry:

1. My Firefox browser will re-direct my google searches to a new Firefox window pop-up with "google-analytics" in its address bar, but would never finish loading the new popped-up window. Firefox would also re-direct and never finish loading my google searches by opening a new tab with a "directdlr.com/....." in its address bar.

2. Microsoft Office 2010 applications don't open, instead a "DW20.exe" and a "DWWin.exe" replicates itself an infinite number of times in my processes, maxing out my CPU.

3. My anti-virus applications (Spyware Doctor, Microsoft Security Essentials, avast!, malwarebytes) won't update, and therefore won't run or scan. Firefox also won't load various anti-virus sites, such as this message board.

4. Other applications crash directly upon opening them (VLC Media Player)

Solutions that I've tried:

1. Resetting my router. I'd read somewhere online that doing this would solve the problem. It did not.

2. Trying to restore from a restore point. I opened System Restore, but the restore points were all very recent and within the timeframe of infection.

3. Un-installing Microsoft Office 2010 and re-installing. System won't let me un-install.

Here are my scan reports:

Not long ago (a week and a half or so) I was playing Payday 2 and my computer froze, I turned off my computer to restart it and could not load my computer past a pre-loading windows black screen where the mouse was not showing. I then tried booting my computer in various ways (safe, with and without networking etc) and they worked, however I believe one of my drivers failing to load was the reason for my "Windows Normal" startup to fail. I eventually decided through, I then looked at using the system restore point function in order to hope for some success. The system restore function when I restored to; a week ago, two weeks ago, did not seem too alleviate my issue much, it did however allow me to load windows but almost immediately after using the machine for 2-5 minutes I would have a frozen screen again. I then eventually decided to just factory reset the machine out of desperation, the factory reset eventually happened successfully and I was able to load windows and login into my new user successfully, as I learnt that I had to reinstall my graphical drivers I then attempted to put in various CD's in in order to install these drivers, eventually when I figured out the order of CD's that I needed to install for my games to load properly, I then resumed my activities on my pc (such as gaming, browsing etc).

Flash forward to the second factory reset, this one happened due to a very similar freezing problem yet again, and again I decided to turn off my computer ... Read more

Small home wireless LAN, Netgear WGR614v4 router, Using WPA, two XP machines, one Vista (home Basic ),

Stage 1) all working ok for many hours, except when
2) Vista machine goes to sleep mode. On wakeup, no connection. Network SSID is visible, good signal, but repeated attempts to connect fail.
3) Other computers connect to router, and internet fine. They can also standby/poweroff and restart fine. Still connected.
4) Reboot Vista computer, no help. Network settings look normal, just no connection to wireless router. Incredibly irritating Vista diagnostic tool suggests I connect to a another network, or recycle the router. (If the router was close enough to be easily recycled, I would just plug in an ethernet cable. But it is not, and I am tired of unnecessary trips to the basement.)
5) Power cycle router, and everything fine again.

Does not happen with every sleep cycle. No clue what makes it fail sometimes and not others.

Any suggestions? This happens about every other day, so of course, it will not fail when I want it to, but if anyone has an idea, I will get ready for the next breakage.

Answer:Wireless LAN fails, all parts work fine.

Just in case anyone else is having this problem, I found more information on the trigger--If Vista goes to sleep while Firefox is active, the connection is broken. The only way I have found to reconnect, is reboot the router.

If Firefox is closed first, before the Sleep mode, all is well. Restart Vista, the connection resumes fine. So, its a work-around, but I am even more confused as whats up. Firefox interfering with some Vista<->Netgear secret handshake?

Hello all. I upgraded my motherboard, cpu, ram, and video card, and carried over my hard drive (with windows xp pro, sp2) and dvd rom from my old computer. I installed everything, powered it up, and got to a screen that says something like:

"We're sorry for the inconvenience, but windows could not load. This may be due to a recent hardware or software change" blah blah blah. Then it gives me options to start windows in safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, safe mode with networking, and last known good configuration.

I tried all of them, but it just takes me back to the bios splash screen and restarts the whole process again.
What can I do to still use the same hdd to boot from, without accidentally erasing the installation of windows that's on their currently, and not lose my files?

I do have an old hdd that I use as a backup, and could install winows on that and then transfer all my files from my newer hdd, but I would rather not go through that hassle.

If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate the help.
Thanks.

This is a recent occurrence, last couple of days I think. I'm finding that parts of pages I'm looking at are greyed out. I'm pretty much only using the net for research so I've only noticed that some of the logs on different sites I'm looking at have parts of the log greyed out in blocks. I don't know if its something that happens with other sorts of sites or pages.

I've just checked a current hjt log here using IE after I found part of the 17th post greyed out with Firefox and it wasn't in IE. I'm sorry if this is common and already covered here, my search terms were difficult to figure out and returned no replies.

I'd appreciate any suggestions on fixing it.

Answer:Firefox - parts of page greyed out

Have you installed any new Firefox themes? Sometimes I get a large grey block at the bottom of the screen when I switch to a theme that is not specifically supported by Firefox 1.0.6. See if there are any updates. Restoring then maximizing the window usually solves it (if it's theme-related).

I use HTTPS Everywhere in conjunction with HTTPS Finder addons and love them. I also connect to ths website with HTTPS but I don't get the colored secure indicator. I assume parts of this website are not secure which is the reasons why. Is there a way to only connect to this forum with full HTTPS?

basically, can I stop getting the "partially encrypted" message in some way? This would apply to Sevenforums and any other website that I only get partial encryption.

Answer:Can you tell Firefox to only load the secure parts of websites?

You will never get this site fully encrypted and working correctly due to us serving different resources from different domains to speed up page loading.

This seems to be a common problem, so if there's something obvious I've missed please let me know!

I'm in the process of building a computer system for my fiancee using parts taken out of my old box along with a new motherboard.

The CPU, RAM, Graphics card, HDD and PSU all work fine, and have been tested in other computers, the only new part is the Motherboard.

Upon turning on the power, everything starts to whirr and the system gives the post beep, but the monitor recognises no input, from either the graphics card or the on board graphics.

The green 'power' light is on on the mobo, and all other lights appear normal.

I've tried doing a bare-bones start up, and get the same result. I've also tried it with different monitors

Things I think could be important:
Mobo has a 24 pin power in, and the PSU only has a 20 pin connector, however this is covered in the manual, and the PSU meets the power specifications.

The case is old, and the connector to the front (power) originally didn't fit the hole, some sawing (only through plastic on the connector) ramified this, but could an old connector be causing trouble?
Ideas / Suggestions?

Nvdia Geforce 6600GT graphics card

Thanks for any help

I have a very simple web page that automatically updates daily. However, very often when I view it I just get the version that is in my browser cache rather than the latest version from the web. I have to do a manual refresh from the browser to see the latest version. Not a problem for me, but other viewers of the page may not realize they aren't seeing the latest information.

Is there an HTML tag or some such that can be included in the page that will force a refresh and override any old version that the viewer may still have in their browser cache?

The easiest way for me to show you the problem is to demonstrate it. If you will be so kind as to go to continental.com you will see the words Continental Airlines printed in the upper left hand corner. Just below them is a blue bar which runs from the left side all the way over to the right. This bar has selections for various gray pull down menus. My problem is that on my computer the blue bar, and words are not visible. When I place the cursor over where the blue bar should be and move it across the page left to right the pull down gray menus do appear. So then, It is all there, but can not be seen. I this problem on other sites as well. I am using windows xp pro. Please help if you can.                                                                        I believe the blue bar is called a navigation bar. On my machine it is there but not visible. If you move your cursor over where the blue bar is supposed to be and one of the links on it then a gray pull down menu appears and is fully visible. It's driving me nuts. Thanks in advance Don

Hi there.
I recently had a trojan dnschanger on my laptop. I tried using malwarebytes program to remove it several times and then gave up and sent it in to get repaired at a shop in town. They told me there was no infection and sent it back to me. I reran the test and sure enough it was gone. but...

What had originally made me try using malwarebytes to scan ( avg, spybot s&d, and adaware did not find anything) was that my browser was acting strange. When I do a Google search and click on one of the results, it will load a blank page saying 'done' in the bottom corner, then after 5 seconds or so it will then load the page i wanted.

For instance, I click on "hxxp://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-115088-using-web-browser-page-loads-but-screen-blank" search result and it puts this:

"hxxp://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=1&ved=0CAcQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fen.kioskea.net%2Fforum%2Faffich-115088-using-web-browser-page-loads-but-screen-blank&rct=j&q=browser+loads+blank+page+then+&ei=W6JzS6q_G8PgnAec2vmyCQ&usg=AFQjCNHiczGbtPYRraVBQ_7hGcgLE2f6LQ&as_acct=9dm612l7ldg&cr=s6ar6l7"

into the top bar and sits on the blank,'done' page for 5 or 10 secs then goes to the "hxxp://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-115088-using-web-browser-page-loads-but-screen-blank" page after.

It is driving me crazy. This is doing it in firefox 3.5.7 and also in ie 8.0.7600.16385 - (i rarely use ie)

wrt54gs ip page did not load when I type ip address, but modem page load instead.

Answer:ip main page did not load, but load moderm pag

Sounds like your Modem is on that IP address and your Router is on another. I thought LinkSys routers used 192.168.1.1 out of the box and most DSL modems used 192.168.1.254 and Cable modems used 192.168.100.1. Which address are you using? What kind of Modem do you have (Model Number and if it is DSL or Cable)?

I am using Intel i3-530 on Intel DH55TC Motherboard. The motherboard supports RAM with highest frequency of 1333MHz. However, I was told that using a higher speed RAM wouldn't hurt the system. So, today I bought a Corsair Vengeance 4GB 1600MHz RAM. The RAM is detected in BIOS, but OSes fail to boot after that. Even Ubuntu throws Kernel panic error while booting. Could anyone help me with the BIOS settings required to run this memory stick?

Answer:OS fails to load when using new RAM

Hello Mycroft mate as a general rule running a higher frequency RAM stick in a machine that runs that only supports the lower one the frequency will revert to the frequency of the new stick will be maxed to what frequency your machine will support. So I think whoever told you could run a higher frequency RAM stick in the machine should have known better and to get you to check out the supported RAM speed before you went out and got the new RAM.
If possible I would get the supplier to change it for 1333 (there really isn't much to be gained from 1600) and the extra RAM will still make a difference to your machine simply because the system has more to use and therefore less bottle knecking - in other words the CPU can load more faster if it has more empty RAM available.

ie Tip a bucket of water through a 1 inch outlet funnel into another bucket and it fills quite nicely in say 5 minutes - now take a funnel with a 10 inch outlet and the second bucket fills in no time at all - the first bucket is the CPU and the second bucket the RAM the difference being there is more channels for the data to flow through even though it might be the slower speed RAM

You can see from this Intel? Desktop Board DH55TC the board only supports 1333 max - you can install a faster RAM stick but why bother?

So for example the 1600 you have put in should only run at 1333 if the machine specs say max 1333. The other problem could be that the new RAM stick is bad.

To see about RAM this might gi... Read more

Hello. I have Red Hat Linux and Windows XP on different partitions on my Dell. I went to login to Windows the other day, and after I selected Windows it gave me a black screen saying windows failed to load. It had options of starting in safe mode, starting from last known configuration or starting normally. Regardless of what you press, the Windows XP screen comes up like its loading, then after a few second it goes to a blue screen saying unmountable_boot_volume. It says to remove any hardware that I recently added, but I haven't added anything. My sister had been using the computer while I was gone, and I don't know what to do now. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hey There, i had a brilliant result last time i came onto here for help so here i am again. :D

Last week my computer was working fine until one day i had to turn my computer off by the mains (Not shut down)

i turned it on then i had the normal boot screen and everything coming up but no windows xp loading screen
i then waited for something to happen but there was no result. it just stayed at a black screen. i then restarted it and when into safe mode and that also failed to load because it stopped loading at a certain file.

Answer:Windows Xp Fails To Load.

I have this issue every once and a while as well and can't seem to figure the problem out.
My issue is a little different though, my PC will lock up, and when I restart it'll load Windows, and then just go to a black screen like you described.
If I let it sit for 10-15 minutes it'll BSOD and restart and work fine though.
Have you tried letting it sit?

I just recently gave my computer I had to my 15 year old sister. Iv'e had this system for four years and this has never happened to me before. The day after I gave it to her, she told me that it would not load. It gets all the way to the windows XP loading screen with the small green dots moving at the bottom then the dots just stop moving. The hard drive light is still lit up like its doing something but after an hour or so of leaving it on like that it was still frozen. I was able to load it up in safe mode and remove any adware/spyware on it and get a hijack this log. I'm not sure what it is she does on it but in all the time iv'e had the machine its never done this before.

Hey,am trying to format my pc (desk top, mother board mecury) which was infected by viruses. Now its failing to load some file.it fails load from CAB DRIV.
its only accepting windows 98.help help please

Answer:Windows xp fails to load

Huh?

Okay first, what is the exact spelling of the file it is failing to load, and what is the exact text of the error message? At what point in the installation process does this happen.

One reason installs fail is because the CD is scratched, dirty, etc... Sometimes making a copy of a damaged disk will work. The copying process "fixes" the bad data before it gets burned to the new disk.

Also, a bad optical drive will mis-read and corrupt data during an install. Changing out the optical drive might fix the problem.

I'm trying to fix a Lenovo 3000 N200 Model 0769 with a pentium dual core processor, a WD 160Gb #WD1600BEVS-08RS hard drive, and 2Gb RAM running Windows XP sp3 Home.  Could not find the restore CD, but have a copy of the OS on CD.A few months ago, the system crashed while I was using the computer and would begin this endless loop of trying to restart windows and then failing.  I suspected a failing HD, so I tried to put the drive into an external enclosure and plug it into my desktop PC.  It was not seeing the drive, so I bought a tested one (same model) from the internet.  Later, I was successful in bringing the OS back up again and immediately began copying files to a backup drive.  Every so often, while copying image and video files, the OS would crash again and I'd restart successfully. I suspected corrupt files or bad HD sectors.  Eventually, it quit loading Windows altogether.  I received the purchased replacement drive, however, when I plugged it into the laptop, it didn't seem to find it and I guessed that it had not been formatted yet.I took it into work where we publish a software database and plugged it into the Windows 7's mother board SATA plug and successfully detected and formatted the new drive.  I also plugged in the "failing" drive, which it detected  and ran a scan on it, automatically detecting and fixing any bad sectors.  It seemed to complete successfully and when I plugged th... Hello again - this place worked last time so I thought I would try again... here is my problem:I use a computer designed for a visually impaired person. The PC (running XP Professional) automatically loads JAWS For Windows (a program (JFW) which 'reads' what is going on (web pages, Word documents, keystrokes) so she can tell what is happening) which appears to run normally. HOWEVER when OPENBOOK (a Text scanning/'reading' program) is loaded, I get errors regarding SSILEXE.EXE not being able to load, which is a speech synthesizer designed to coordinate bothw JFW and OPENBOOK so they can 'talk' without both talking at once. I followed Freedom Scientific's directions (they are the makers of both these programs) to re-expand the AUTOEXEC.NT, CONFIG.NT and COMMAND.COM files from the Windos master disk to the C:\windows\system32\ directory, but the problem keeps coming back. (The only other error message I remember is something about not being able to "load a 16-bit program" or something like that.)Things I have noticed: a Sheild (looks like a MS Update shield) which says 'Downloading Updates 0%' (but I don't think it's really doing that) that pops up when I start Windows, JAWS runs fine, but trying to open OPEN BOOK takes a LONG time to load (and I get the error message about the speech synthesizer not being able to load) - if I try to load OPENBOOK while Norton Protection Center is checking the system this REALLY bogs down. I am wondering if runnning Nort... Read more

WIN 7 X 64 fails when trying to load MS updates. I see lots of users have the same problem and have tried many of the suggestions that I found on the forum. I have Malwarebytes and MS essentials installed.

Security updates for MS.NET are successful as are Definitions for MSE, the Bing Bar updates and even updates for Office 2010 (even though it is not loaded on my computer) but none of the Security Updates for Win7 x64 based systems will load. Every bootup for weeks it says ? you have 37-40 updates? If I tell it not to update, sometimes, somehow, it does it any way and in the middle of my word processing a box pops up that is counting down to a reboot. If I don?t walk away it just shuts down in the middle of my typing.

If I ignore the ?updates available? it changes my log off box from ?shut down? to ?load updates and shut down?. If I don?t pay close attention and change the default back to ?shut down? each time I get stuck loading all the same updates that didn?t load the day before. Dirty pool.

Of course if I tell it to load updates it will finish and then wants to shut down. During shut down it spends a very long time loading ?definitions?? Then when I reboot it spends even longer trying to load updates. I must walk away. This ties my computer up for a very long time and then always has to run ?start up repair? to get the PC to boot after loading updates. I walk away again. Every once in a while start up repair fails and the only way to use my co... Read more

Ill try to make a long story short. Bought a Dell Precision 470 that was two years old from my ex boss. I ran the computer the whole time and it never once gave me a single problem. Upon receiving the computer i found that he ran a few registry deleting programs and because i know he doesn't know how to do anything i feared he did something wrong.

I in turn decided to format the computer. I am running a RAID 1 set-up (mirror) on two 250GB drives. I format the raid array first and rebuild the array then install OS which involves obviously formatting the hard drive and then install drivers reboot then what software pleases me.

The software i run is pretty basic, office 2003, illustrator, photoshop, itunes, mozilla, norton and a software and driver for my business which happens to be sign making. Now the only software thats different on there is the signmaking stuff. We use to run a Prog called signlab and now i use something else. apart from that the general use of the computer is about the same as it was the two years previous.

Every 4-6 weeks the computer decides to stop loading. Always after being shut down normal and properly. It will get to the Windows preloader screen where the three boxes just sit there and slide back and forth over and over essentially until i turn the box off. I can't for the life of me figure this out. the hard drive and information is completely in tact, what seems to be missing is the os software. for the longest time i was not able to g... Read more

Answer:dwwin.exe fails to load??

As an initial step,go into msconfig/Start up and uncheck everything except the Firewall/AV.

If the error stops, then one of those start up programs is the cause.

If that doesn`t work -

See Norms posts here - HERE

"Had this problem, here is what I did:

Open regedit, go to:

If you have a logitech input device, or a Gravis gamepad input device, you need to

processor priority.

Example:
start /belownormal c:\windows\system32\Grxp4exe.exe /init

Start the computer. The computer begins processing a set of instructions known as the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS). What is displayed depends on the BIOS manufacturer. Some computers display a progress bar that refers to the word BIOS, while others may not display any indication that this process is happening. As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, begin tapping the F8 key on your keyboard. Continue to do so until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears. NOTE: If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers will generate a "keyboard error" message. Please restart and try again. Using the arrow keys on the keyboard, scroll to and select create boot log. Then Start Normally...after the boot fails follow the advice above and choose Safe Mode Have a look at th bootlog.txt file on the C drive the final entries are nomally the fail. If you can boot into safemode (Ctrl on mine) and run scandisk and defrag. May be worth running system file checker too, RUN/ type sfc and replace any corrupt files from os disc.

Answer:os won't load and fails I guess..

You'll have to turn off simple file sharing and take ownership of the drive.

Thank God someone wrote a how to, because I wasn't about to type it out for you. lol

Windows98 SE is failing to load on my Pentium 3 pc. The bootup process only goes as far as to the Windows opening screen, then the machine restarts all over again, and again........forever!I then tried to start the machine using a startup floppy. At the A:\ prompt I changed to C:\ and attempted starting Windows in its directory by typing WINDOWS\WIN at the C:\ prompt and hitting ENTER. The screen then went blue and displayed the following message:" VFAT Devise Initialisation failed. A devise or resource required by VFAT is not present or is unavailable. VFAT cannot continue loading. System halted. "May I know what problem this message points to and what to do to fix it? Thanks in advance.

My formerly cool computer continues to tick me off! I've been having a hardware problem, which I've traced to the video card slot, and am currently troubleshooting. The problem will cause my computer to completely fail to start - BIOS codes and all that. Working on it though, this isn't my question.

An unrelated problem has cropped up, though, perhaps related to problems I posted earlier...

Usually (but not always) after reboot, I'll get an error that msgina.dll failed to load. It suggests copying over a new one. I've done that, and it still fails to load on the first cold boot, but loads on reboot.

Anybody here seen this before, and can offer suggestions?

(on a side note, what do you use - besides an eraser - to clean the contacts on your AGP or PCI boards?)

Answer:msgina.dll fails to load

The file has something to do with Winlogon. Look HERE for some info on this. Also, a search of MSGINA on GOOGLE provided a wealth of info on why you are having your problem.

To clean contacts, I use Ethanol obtainable from a electronics shop, maybe Radio Shack It's the oils from your hands etc etc that can cause contacts to erode.

My copy of Flight Sim loaded OK under Win XP but under Win 7 in same machine doesn't. Other software loads as it should but the Flight Sim DVD just spins, with the read light and the HD light flickering away indefinitely. I have tried manually via two set-up files I can see in Explorer but to no avail. The DVD looks OK physically. Anyone suggest what else I can try.

Answer:Flight Sim X fails to load

Not sure if this is your problem, but it could well be. FSX can only be used on one machine, it checks its self with Microsoft. A new OS may be giving the wrong info. In which case you might need to contact Microsoft by phone. You may find more info at the following forums:- click here click hereI used to use FS9 but found my machine would not cope with FSX, so gave up on it. When I buy another PC then I might try again.FSXs programming was too far ahead of hardware capabilities at the time.

I have a VB.Net application written in Visual Studio 2005 using .Net Framework 2

The application is compiles and built on a Vista machine and packaged using InstallAnywhere 8.

I have successfully loaded in on 6 Vista machines and 14 XP machines.

Part of my installation process checks if .Net Framework 2

There are 3 XP machines that it Fails.

The installation in successful. The application fails to load.

I then built the application on an XP machine and was able to install and run the application on both Vista and other XP machines.

It still fails on the original 3 XP machines.

Any suggestions how I troubleshoot this problem

Thanks

Hi, Everyone,
How are you? I have been running Windows XP, Service Pack 2 on my computer for several years now. Last night, my computer froze for the first time in over half a year, so I restarted it and nothing seemed to be wrong. After about 15 minutes of using it, it froze once again. After restarting it the second time, however, it showed me the screen that says I could choose to restart in the "Last Known Good Configuration," in "Safe Mode, or to "Start Windows Normally."

If I chose the non-Safe Mode options, it would start to load Windows (with the Windows XP screen and the blue bar running under it), and then restart itself when the blue bar runs for the third time. For the Safe Mode options, it would load partway and then restart again.

Can I do something to fix this? Is this a hard drive problem? I tried unplugging everything except for my monitor and hard drive, but the problem was still there. Please help! I am using a library computer to type this and will wait until I can find a resolution, then go home and try it.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

I've got a problem and wonder if someone could help me out...

Windows XP Pro SP2 was working fine until I rebooted and now the desktop won't load. All the programs are accesable from the task manager>new task and I have run a AVG scan with no results. The screen picture loads, but nothing else. No start bar, no office toolbar, no icons, no anything.

I've scanned the forum for an answer and there was one result for desktop failing to load, but this did not seem applicable.

I am getting no error messages.

For the last 2 days I cannot get my Youtube channel to load properly. It seems to stick on something called "s.ytimg.com". Is anyone else having this trouble at the moment?

As 67 people have looked at this but not one has replied, even to tell me that I'm an idiot, I feel rather ignored on what is my first outing on this forum. Perhaps my question is too banal.

Anyway, in the hope of receiving some sort of response here's a more detailed description of the problem:

I use Firefox with Noscript and Ad Block Plus.

I have a 3 mobile broadband connection (which has worked well enough since I got it) and before Friday I had no problems with Youtube.

When I try to load my channel on Youtube everything zips along nicely until it comes to "transferring data from s.ytimg.com". Then it just hangs. And Hangs. I have left it for 40 minutes or so and nothing has moved.

If I selectively disable "ytimg.com" in Noscript everything loads but there is no video to play.

Evidently s.ytimg.com is a perennial nuisance because it is mentioned in many other forums. Solutions suggested include putting extra lines in the hosts file (tried it. No good). Removing lines from the host file (couldn't because the line was not there) and changing DNS server.

Does anyone here have any new wheeze to suggest?

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, I am new here.

In fact, perhaps there should be a section just for s.ytimg.com and its attendant miseries.... Read more

Hello:

Let me begin by stating that I will donate $100 to Tech Support Guy if someone is able to *successfully* solve my problem.

First, some general info on my computer:
* Dell Latitude D510 Notebook (purcahsed in January of 2006)
* Windows XP Home - SP2
* 2GB RAM
* 80GB 5400RPM HDD
* Pentium M Dothan, 1.86GHZ, 2 MEGB

Second, a little background on the events leading to the problem:
* I'm a heavy Internet user (about 16 hours per day of blogging, social media stuff, web based email, downloading music, files, video, etc.). Typically, I leave my computer continually running for several days at a time. Last week (Jan 08), I rebooted my system after about 3 days of continual use and this is what happened, and is still happening (step by step guide)

1) I turn on my computer and the computer begins to boot normally, from the Dell logo to the Windows XP logo
2) Once the Blue Welcome Screen appears, I see the following error message:
WLKeeper.exe - Application Error The Instruction at "0x00401490" referenced memory at "0x9a3412be". The memory could not be "written".
3) If I click cancel, the OS continues to load, even producing Microsoft's trademark startup sound and displaying the default background screen of the fields and mountains against a blue sky.
4) However, as the programs are loading and the explorer bar at the bottom of the screen loads, I receive a second error message stating:

I just came home for christmas and my parents showed me that their computer is failing to boot.

It posts normally, runs the windows splash screen, and then comes up to a black screen with a mouse cursor and hourglass, then 30 seconds later to just a mouse cursor - it can sit for an hour and never loads anything else. In safe mode, any type, it does the same thing but with the version number across the top and 'safe mode' in each corner.

In any mode there is no taskbar and no response from the start button, right clicking or ctrl+alt+del

I have tried, after making a backup of course, replacing explorer.exe and taskman.exe as well as the entire system and system32 folders(except config in system32 which is protected). I have loaded the hard drive in my own computer and it does the same thing. I ran scandisk on it while it was in my windows pc and it didn't tell me anything. The drive is divided into 3 partitions and I only scanned the C drive.

This is my parents computer and I do not have a hardware listing, it is relatively new but not high end, I can look for model numbers on anything that is relevant.

I have slaved the drive into another computer and backed up any data, I am just trying to avoid a full reformat and having to reinstall all the software.

any thoughts?

I have a very odd problem at the moment. As of recently my desktop fails to load anything except the wallpaper on any user.

Background:
I've recently acquired a Trojan.Vundo.H and have been attempting to get rid of it. I found it with Malwarebytes anti Mal-ware. I've attempted numerous times at deleting the files in both safe mode and regular mode, but the virus still comes back.

I then attempted to locate the files manually. There was a single .dll file and then three registry entries (I would post then but I'm in the middle of a full scan on my computer that is infect so I shall do so when that is finished). In either mode and using cmd all were unable to be deleted. I then ran a virus scan using Avira and it found the .dll file but was unable to delete it. After a system restart I went to check to see if the file was still there and it was. However to my surprise, Avira detected the infected .dll file and was able to remove it. I then rebooted my machine and noticed the .dll was gone but that still left the three registry entries. I began to scan with Malwarebytes anti Mal-ware and it said the .dll was still there, although after manually looking for the file I could not locate it.

So then I began to attempt to delete the three registry entries. I tried going in safe mode, editing the permissions, anything I could find online to do, but nothing worked. I then backed up the registry and set a system restore and then ran ccleaner.

After the restart is whe... Read more

Hello,
I am currently having trouble with my Windows Vista home Premium 32-bit computer. I am using a NETGEAR Wireless USB adapter for my internet and a few thing's have seemed to go wrong.

First of all, the Network logo that normaly appears in the task bar has gone missing. When you right click>Properties and then try to tick Network, the grey tick box has been locked, so you can not select it.

Secondly, When I go to Network and Sharing center it come's up The Page Failed To Load.

Also, sometime's when I log onto Vista it come's up C:\Windows\system32\WINBRAND.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contain's an error. I don't know if this is linked in some how.

I have no internet access on that computer, and that is the only computer I am able to use at my home so it is very annoying that I ahve not been able to find a fix for this some where.

I am alright with computer's but not to good with complicated stuff. But anything for a fix

I hope someone could help me out with this problem,
Mackenzie.

Today I had a system restore done on my PC, all my data was saved and it's all in the original hard drive, apart from the files in the windows.old folder that I've moved to my new hard drive.

Anyway, I need to install all my programs again, so I tried using the iTunes application I from my program files, it didn't work. I got the message:

Quote:

iTunes setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application

I then downloaded a new exe from the iTunes site, I made sure it was the correct version for Vista, and I got the same message.

A final suggestion online was to use the command prompt:

Quote:

regsvr32 / i SHELL32.DLL

The only thing this changed was to give me a different error message telling me I didn't have enough physical space, which can't be true because I just had a new hard drive installed today.

Any help in getting iTunes working would be very appreciated!

This description is fairly long. I went into as much detail as possible because this problem just came out of nowhere.

So I get on the computer one day and everything is cool. I rearrange some music, uninstall some software that I never use and surf the web. While I was adding several hundred music files to my iTunes I ran into an error that said I didn’t have access to write to the C drive. iTunes stopped importing the music halfway through at this point. I selected all my music again and tried once more, this time it worked fine. This happened a few times before I was able to get all my music in. I’m thinking that this may have something to do with my boot problems since I had never experienced this error ever before. It’s probably the only peculiar thing that happened prior to my problem so I mentioned it.

Lastly I run disc clean up and Spybot: Search & Destroy. I updated my AVG AntiVirus and avast! and restart after it asks me to. I am then confronted with this crap.

Irregardless of the way I turn the computer off, it boots back up with the screen that informs me that Windows did not load properly. And naturally it gives me 30 some odd seconds to decide if I want to start the computer normally or in a variety of safe modes. Choosing to start the computer normally or letting the time run out results in the screen flickering for a brief second... Read more

Recently, my PC has been restarting randomly. The odd part is it usually happens when I'm just browsing the internet. Until last night I haven't had any issues when gaming (BF2 and NFS:MW). The one BSOD I saw and the "system has recoverd from a serious error" messages pointed to driver issues so I cleaned the video drivers and re-installed them and thought the problem was fixed.

Only after gaming did the problems occur until last night BF2 froze leaving me with a loud beep/screech from my headphones. I did a hard restart and made it into windows but soon after the machine reset.

Currently I can boot into BIOS, make changes etc, but as soon as the last step in bios completes (verifiying DMI pool data I believe), it fails to continue onto the Windows XP splash screen. The screen goes black but does not power down which really confuses me.

I tried swapping video cards and also removed my Audigy 2 to narrow down a hardware issue and the same thing happens. Now I'm coming to you guys for help.

Answer:Windows fails to load/boot?

nice description but try posting your hardware (power supply included). Also what if anything changed or got plugged into the computer lately?

It could be anything keeping it from booting - corrupt files from the last crash, bad ram, cpu, PSU, etc. Can you boot into SAFE MODE?

A couple of days ago, my genius spouse left his laptop once again in a precarious situation sitting on a table near an open window during a rain storm.

Regardless, since this time, not shockingly windows wont load properly and im hoping that someone can offer some advice as I cant afford to pay for a professsional to take a look at it at this time.

When he tries to turn it on as usual, it attempts to load but it freezes on the screen with the green bars about halfway across and never goes anywhere, he did manage to catch a glimpse of an error a couple of times that said:

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix this problem insert your windows disk and run repair "etc.

I havent seen it yet so I can t give the exact wording of the end of the statement but it basically says put your disc in and let windows fix itself.

Tried that, it only took about 60 seconds to repair windows supposedly, but it still wont load properly.

I have tried to look this problem up on various forums but there seems to be one major issue that people are encountering that I am not, every account that I have read, noone can get their system to load at all in any mode, I CAN load the system in safe mode and everything works perfectly well, it just wont run in normal mode. This gives me a little bit of hope, if perhaps false lol.
