Context Menu Appears When Right-click in a Web-Based Application

Question: Context Menu Appears When Right-click in a Web-Based Application

Hi,

I think the title sums it up, but I will expand a little more on it.

I have a web-based application that when I attempt to perform a function, brings up the IE11 context menu. The application's menu also appears (which is what I want), but in order to proceed with my task, I have to kill the IE menu via Task Manager.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've attached a picture.

Thanks in advance!

Preferred Solution: Context Menu Appears When Right-click in a Web-Based Application

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Starting today and possibly yesterday, I have noticed some odd behaviour with my right click menu and the context menu.

I am running windows 7 home edition, 64 bit.

Whenever I first start up my pc and open a context menu in firefox, i.e select a sub folder in my bookmarks that open. The context box that appears is invisible, minus the outline of the box. I can scroll the mouse up and down and select links that are there, but the box never appears.

I then deselect it and reselect it, and sometimes it will appear, other times it takes multiple attempts for the context menu to appear.

See attached screenshot of the issue.

Other times I have noticed once or twice when right clicking on the desktop, only the left half of the context menu will appear, the other half is missing, but this does appear when I mouse over it.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I ran a "SFC /scannow" check in command prompt, and it came back clean and dandy, so I'm fresh out of ideas already!

Answer:Right click/context menu appears invisible, minus the outline

Just happened again here, clicked the latest headlines drop down, and the box was invisible minus the outline, and the links could be selected in the invisible menu.

Like I say, it happens when I first turn on then occurs less often as the day goes on using the pc. I then recently restarted and within restarting, it has occurred twice in the first fifteen minutes.

Answer:Left click brings up right click context menu on desktop

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

System specifications would help, especially what type of mouse you've got, but at a guess I'd say there's something not right with your mouse settings.

Easy question, impossible answer to find...

I have a co-worker of mine when he goes into any context menu from the desktop, everything appears on the left instead of the right.

As an example. He right clicks on the desktop, then goes to "Arrange Icons By". The other choices appear on the left instead of the right.

He uses a tablet with a touchpad. No mouse plugged in configured for left or right handed.

Any suggestions?

Hi, I'd like to add a context menu entry to the default set
Open/Open all users/Explore/Explore All users/Sort by Name/Rename etc
which appear when you

right click on a folder in an expanded Start menu (after 'Programs).

Technically, the 'folder' is a 'file folder'.

But the normal set of file folder context menu entries is suppressed by Windows in this instance.

Thus normal additions to the context menu set associated with 'anything' or 'file folders' or 'directories' never affects this set (so far).

I can add context menu entries which appear when I right click on a shortcut, but NOT folders.

I've tried Fast Explorer, and a couple of other utilities.

'Sort By Name', 'Explore All Users' are not in the registry. (Normally context menu entries appear in one of about 6 locations).

Ideas welcome!

Background: I want to do this 'cos I want to keep a 'bad' context menu entry that stops explorer running from this context menu (some programs do that, alas, thus you can't right click, explore the start menu once you install them and their context menu). Normally I have disabled such entries using Shellex View.

So I want to add one which uses a different file manager.

Thanks!

Hey it's been a while since I've last been here, I really enjoy this Win 7 community hope everyone is doing well.

Anyway let me cut to the chase, basically I want to be able to remove the MagicISO context menu from the right click context menu in Windows 7.

See pics to understand what I'm talking about.

Even after unchecking the "Enable Shell Integration" (see picture 3) option in MagicISO Maker, it still shows up, and when I open the program again the check box is still ticked for that particular option.

I know I never had any issue in Vista or XP, but in this version of Windows it seems unable to work.

I looked on the http://www.magiciso.com website for an update to the program but there doesn't seem to be any at the moment. I've got the latest Build 0281.

Call me a "control/neat/OCD freak" who wants and needs everything in his life to be almost perfect ! LOL but really, I just like my right click context menu to be nice and tidy. I don't use MagicISO that often and when I do I do all my work within the program. Therefore I don't need the MagicISO option to be present.

Anyway I hope my issue is clear, perhaps I would have to modify the registry or something ?

Thanks for all your help I appreciate it !

Jordan

When I right click on a shortcut(.lnk) say in the start menu, my anti-virus program appears twice in the context menu because it wants to scan both the shortcut.lnk file and what its pointing too.

On my other pc the context menu only has the option to scan what the shorcut is pointing too so obviously something is different with my system. Anyone know what?

Hello,

I have this rather annoying problem in Vista 32bit SP2. Sometimes my right click menu (Context menu) is invisible. I do see the outline/shadow, but everything is white/blank. Restarting laptop does seem as temp fix, but I have this issue very often.

I tried ShexView, but didn't succeed.

When this occurs, I also don't get to see power down options (Start orb> that menu with Sleep/shut down/log off..)

I know it has something to do with context listers, but not sure how to proceed.

Any idea what to do?

Cheers,
Miki

Answer:Right click menu (Context menu) sometimes invisible!

Hi miki69,

Open up command prompt, and type:

sfc /scannow

And then when it finishes copy and paste the following into notepad and save it as a batch file (.bat):

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt

And run it as an administrator

(Alternatively, you could type all of that into an elevated command prompt, but its quite long).

From here, you should now have a SFC log file on your desktop, can you upload that for us?

Hello everyone (or anyone),
First, I have searched the forum, this forum specifically before I asked just in case so as not to waste time.

I have a strange problem where whenever I click with my right mouse click, nothing happens. The menu that normally pops up takes an ETERNITY to open up. I mean as in 30 sec.'s to 1+ minutes after I click the right mouse button before the menu shows up

The mouse is a Logitech m305 mouse and the system is a Win 7 Ultimate edition if that helps any, and am pretty sure SP 1 is installed too.

It has just been an extreme pain. Who knew life without the right click context menu would be so terrible in the Windows world

Any help would be extremely welcomed!

Ok, I've got 2 machines both with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit on them. One machine fresh out the box today. The other a few months, anyway. On both of them I install programs that I know add additional menus to to the right click context menu. Example WinRar would be one program, 7zip another, VLC, a File Shredder Program and a few others. This is the first time I've come across this issue (between both machines), and I gotta say its annoying as hell, on my laptop it was one thing I made by, but my central system, the desktop I am currently installing everything on new to replace my old desktop is a different story. I rely heavy on those menus and not having them well its bothersome. So I am wondering if there is some special setting somewhere on Home Premium alone that I don't know about, that I can't seem to find information on this anywhere else. Or did for some reason Microsoft in all it's finest of Glory just Omit that option from the OS entirely just in Home Premium.. I have 7 Pro on another machine and this problem doesn't exist there.

So all in all losing my mind want to know one way or another. And need an answer. So if anyone knows how to resolve this that would be cool. Thanks

Answer:Right Click Context Menu

I think you will find that it is the programs - 7-zip. winrar, etc which will give you the option of adding context menu items.

Not the operating system.

Somehow my right click has been disabled, or simply doesn't work. No paste, no context menu, nada. Only on web pages. I'm running Win98 SE, IE 5.5, no network, no administrator to set policy. It's not the mouse, for (shift- f10) won't paste either. Toolbar=fine, tray=fine, only pages opened w/ Iexplore.
Some suggestions have been:
1. updated ver. mshtml.dll.
2. C:\windows\web\folder.htt.
3. some "malware" called stcloader.
4. 3rd party program "x-setup".. Internet\Internet Explorer\Interface Lockdown\Appearance Options And make sure the Enable Right-Click Menu is checked. None worked.
Does anyone know the registry key responsible for right click disable/enable?
Thanks for any help. dave

I use 7Zip for my compression and de-compression program,

That makes it real easy to access 7Zip.
But, when I install 7Zip into Win-7, I don't get it installed into the Right Click menu. That makes using 7Zip very difficult.

My question for the group:
Is there some way to force Win-7 to add 7Zip to the context menu?

Hi,
I just got my new computer and am having some issues. One of them is the taskbar's right click context menu. I use this feature a lot, I've discovered, since with this new OS, it doesn't work. Or, rather, it does, but it won't stay up. I right click an item on the task bar, the menu pops up, and then when I move my pointer towards the menu to access the items listed, the menu pops back down. The only way I get to the menu is with the arrows keys. It's very frustrating. Can someone help me tell the menu to stay put? It's ridiculous to have to move my hand from the mouse to the keyboard just to make a choice on the menu. The right click menus WITHIN a program seem fine. It's just the ones on the task bar, where you see the new "Pin to the task bar" option and such.

Thanks, Phyrie

Thread title says it all. Google search hasn't help. I've tried:

-Removing all non-Microsoft Context Menu Handlers
-Disconnecting from Network
-Updating Graphics Card
-Changing Mouse Batteries
-Removing all "Send To" options (including Network Drives)
-Checked Task Manager (plenty of memory, little CPU usage)

Right-clicking on ANYTHING takes 10-20 seconds for the menu to come up: this is so for folders and files, on my PC, external HD, network drives, and cloud drives. So probably an explorer problem?

The problem has gotten worse over time. It used to be almost instant, but then I started noticing it took maybe 5-6 seconds, then pretty soon it was 7-8, then 10-11, then 15-16, now I've had some that's 20. This is annoying as I use this feature a lot every day.

I haven't tried safe-mode start-up or restore point yet; any other ideas?

Hello TSG!

I would like to add an item to the IE7 right-click context menu. Basically, I need to add a command similar to the one provided by Dr.Web LinkChecker. By right-clicking on any link within a webpage and selecting the item (e.g. "Scan Link"), I'd like to have the link automatically inserted in this online link scanner, in a new window, without losing the original window: http://onlinelinkscan.com/

I have a relatively basic knowledge of Script writing and would need help from a skilled member to accomplish and understand this task.

Dr.Web provides this simple registry hack to add its link checker to the context menu:
Code:

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt\Scan with Dr.Web]
@="[URL]http://www.drweb.com/online/drweb-online-fr.html[/URL]"
"Contexts"=dword:00000022

There's an example for adding Google search to the IE context menu. By highlighting any word in a webpage, a new window will open and Google will search for that word automatically and show the results:
Registry hack:

Code:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt\Search with Google]
@="C:\\Windows\\Web\\google.htm"
"Contexts"=hex:10,00,00,00

Answer:Windows ME Right Click Context Menu

Depends on what type of file is involved here. In general you would be looking under keys like:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/file_type_or_extension/shell
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/file_type_or_extension/shellex

But then different programs register their shortcuts in different ways. You'll need to be more specific.

Hey guys,

When I right-click files such as .rar or .doc files, the context menu used to load really slow but I found out it was due to so many applications installing their "shells" on the context menu, such as "compress, compress and email..." and the list goes on. I removed most of them through registry edits and now the context menu comes up almost instantly.

There is still one problem, ANY .exe file takes about 1 second to load the context menu when right-clicked. I've tried removing almost ALL the options in the context menu but it still didn't help. Anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks!

New member, first post. As you probably guessed I have a new computer with Win 7 (Pro). During setup, I installed some utilities that I liked from the computer I used previously which runs XP Pro.

One of these is a tiny utility (11KB) called MD Folder which adds a "New Folder" option directly to the XP right-click context menu in Explorer (actually it was developed for W95/98 but worked fine on XP). It was one of those nice little tweaks that I used all the time. Unfortunately, it no longer works on Win 7. The other bad news is that I now have a right-click context menu that lists "New Folder" as a separate entry but clicking it does nothing. I realize that Win 7 already has a similar capability but it wasn't as direct a method as this utility.

I would appreciate help in getting:
1. another right-click customization to get a quick, one-step "New Folder" option that will work on Win 7 and
2. some instructions to repair the context menu to remove the current unusable choice of "New Folder" from the context menu.

For help in item 2. above, I attached the inf file (converted to a txt file so it won't run) for the "MD folder" installation which may help those who understand that coding. I imagine what I need is something to reverse the registry changes identified there. The second-to-last line of this file seems to be an uninstall instruction but I'm not sure and don't know how to use it if it is. I have been una... Read more

A few minutes ago I highlighted a URL, right clicked in order to copy and the right click context menu did not open.

Unfortunately one cannot use Edit/Copy in the command bar for a URL.

I then attempted to copy random text from a web page and again no right click context menu. I was able to copy the text using Edit/Copy. I can also use Edit/Copy in notepad.

I also discovered that I have no right click context menu at all. I tried right clicking on the taskbar, the desktop, desktop icons, and in an empty space in my top command bars.

Next I tried to copy the URL using SeaMonkey. Didn't work.

It worked earlier today. I have made no changes to anything that would cause this to happen.

I really need the context menu. How do I get it back?

edit to add: I uninstalled the software for my mouse, reinstalled, didn't cure the problem. I did a google search and found an article by Microsoft which I followed but did not resolve the issue. Nothing else found that would help me.

Do you get the context menu when you press the menu key on your keyboard (has a picture of a context menu on it usually between the right ctrl key and the windows key)?

I'm assuming that you have tried a reboot of the system

This is a totally new one to me... about a week ago, everytime I went to right-mouse click, the context menu would take a while to drop down. As of yesterday, it stopped working completely. There seems to be next to noting on this subject on the web so I came here to see if anyone has a possible solution.

The left mouse click work fine, no lag, the batteries are fully charged, the mouse works fine on another systems I have.

It is a MS Intellimouse Explorer for Bluetooth. I state this because a also have a Logitech Trackman Marble+ plugged in that does the job for me temporarily and the right mouse works fine on that one. So I suspect it could be a Bluetooth problem.

FYI, I also started having the Generic Host Server need to close and svchost.exe problems as well about a week ago. They are possibly all related to each other

Any ideas?

I have encountered this acouple of times. When I right click, the context menu pops up, but the menu items are missing until I move my mouse over them. I've checked my system resources (this is WinXP by the by) and my cpu usage hovers around 4%, and I have about 230MB out of 512MB free. Usually a restart resolves this issue though, but how do I keep it from not happening? (i.e. what causes this to happen?)

Anyway to add ..browse.. to the sendto menu option? Basically choose a folder to copy to from there.

Answer:Add option to right click context menu

Why? That would be the same as double clicking on the folder to open it then copy a file.

I probably don't understand what you are trying to do, can you explain more?

I am using Windows 10 Pro 64 bit OS on my self built system. It's been working great for years but recently I have notice when right clicking on any file in File Explorer or on the desktop it takes up to 30 seconds for the context menu to appear. I have read other posts about tweaking the graphic configuration or services. I have a Radeon R7 200 Series graphics card. I rolled back the most recent driver with no improvement. If I reboot it fixes the problem for a short while.
I use the right click often and this is unacceptable. I am thinking of a clean reinstall but others have stated that it doesn't fix the problem.

I'm wondering if a recent Windows update changed something that is causing this. Please help because this is a drag and I don't want to go through the reinstall unless absolutely necessary only to find out it doesn't help.

Answer:Right Click context menu sloooow

Right click context menu should be almost instantaneous.
If you have a long delay, it might be due to incompatible Shell Extensions. Try:
Right Click on Desktop take long time to show up - Windows 10 Forums

In addition, delay can be a cause if your HD/SSD is corrupted (run chkdsk /r) or if you have any USB device connected with Power Option to allow PC to turn off the device (Uncheck the option from Device Manager)

If still does not fix the problem. Open Admin Command. Copy/paste then run:
Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup&dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth&sfc /scannow&pause

Recently whenever i right click on anything or anywhere on my computer, be it the desktop or an avi file etc, the list that should normally open instantly, takes a long time to open - this can vary from only a few seconds to 10+ seconds.
Once i have waited for the menu to open however and click off it, the next time i right click on the same point it opens instantly. I presume this is because it has cached the menu or something.

Ive had a look around the internet but couldn't find much about this problem, so any ideas are welcome!

Hello. Im just getting used to W7 after upgrading from XP. Im really starting to like this OS but have a question regarding the right click context menu.
If Im in the empty desktop when I right click\new, the options are pretty much the same as in XP, however, if Im in a folder, any folder to begin with, the only "new" option is folder??? Whats up with that. Now, if I do create a new folder, and right click in that then all the usual options are there???
I hav done some googling and Im not the only user with this problem, but I cant seem to find an adaquate solution. I want to create new text files and MS office files in folders without having to create a new subfolder to have that option, it just seems really pointless
Any help with this is appreciated, thank you

So, there's this little annoyance I've had with Windows 7. There's no "dead-space" between icons. It really only becomes an issue at two times: When I want to use the folder's context menu, and get the icon's context menu; and when I try to drag and drop something into a folder filled with folders. In the second case, I end up moving the folder into a subfolder on accident.

In any size "Icon" viewing mode, there is one or two pixels between the active areas of each icon. In "Detail" there is zero. If I want to see the folder's context menu, or drop something into the folder I am currently viewing, I have to use the 15-pixel dead space between the directory tree on the left and and first column of icons. "List" mode is better, but I don't want to use that in every folder.

I've tried increasing the space between icons, but the active area just increases along side it. I just end up with a larger hit-box for each icon. Is there anything I can do to increase the size of the dead area between icons? Or better yet, go back to the top-hat shaped active areas from older Windows?

Answer:Can't click between icons to get context menu.

You can use this;

QTTabBar

solves a lot of problems. You can just drop to a folder tab, no need to use the file view pane.

I recently found out the hard way that there is apparently no application key on this model's keyboard when trying to switch between host and guest input in VirtualBox (by default this key is part of the keyboard mapping to switch control back to the host OS). What is the Fn + key combination to cause the same key code to go through? Shift + F10 doesn't work for this use case, which was the solution given in a different answer regarding the absence of this key. It has to be the actual key. Or am I going to need to use a third party tool to manually map that key or change the VirtualBox mappings?

Does anyone here know of a way to include a "close" function on the right click menu when clicked in the field of a window? Having to mouse to the top or bottom of the page just to close it wastes a lot of time when you are closing hundreds of windows on a busy day. Disk Management reports all drives are healthy. Status of E: is "Healthy,Primary Partition", File System- Unknown(Bitlocker Encrypted).

i.e. The software that comes with they keyboard "Setpoint" allows you to change what the F-keys do. e.g. Launch Program or Show Custom Menu.

Is there something I can call in Windows that will fire up the Context Menu?

Answer:How can I launch the Context Menu (without using mourse Right-Click)

First, there is no "the context menu" as it varies according to the application you are using or window you have activated. The context menu key is located on your keyboard between the right side ALT and CTRL keys. Striking that key will give you whatever context menu is appropriate the same as a right click with a mouse.

EDITED: Original Question: How can I add the eject/safely remove choice back into the explorer context menu?

New Question:
Ok well now I want to ask a different question. Does anyone know how to properly edit the registry to add such a key. When I'm in the devices & printers window the option is available via right click. Therefore, I searched for eject in the registry and found an entry in the shell section of DeviceDisplayObject which is the controller (I hope) for that Devices & Printers window. I'm assuming this is the correct key.

It's located at:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DeviceDisplayObject\AllItems\Shell\Windows.Eject

Now I've attempted to copy that and move it to places such as the global context menu area (ROOT\*\Shell\) and (ROOT\Drive\shell\). However, no matter where I add it it won't work. Maybe something in the shellex line below it is required as well, I don't know. Maybe I'm just cloning it wrong.

If anyone has experience give it a try.

NOTE: I don't want to open the menu for ejecting a disk, I want the right click item to actually eject the disk. Also, I know how to create a shortcut to open the ejection menu.

Answer:Right Click Context Menu - Eject USB Device?

I used to unplug an external drive in Vista without the need to click on the safely remove icon. In 7 the prompting for missing device will be seen when not doing that for a flash drive however.

With or without clicking on the green icon in the system tray the drive letter to certain flash drives will still be maintained. If the brand like San Disk sees an automatic appearance when first plugged in with a small screen with the brand name on it then you click the safely remove option to stop the prompting.

FYI:

After installing ROXIO Easy Media Creator 9 on Vista Ultimate, I discovered that obtaining a context menu by right-clicking took 10-20 seconds. This application comes with a number of "extra doodads", one being Drag-n-drop, which pops up an annoying big icon in the corner for you to drag-n-drop files onto a CD or DVD.
After removing this "cute" but useless to me piece of software, the Context Menu response was back to normal and nothing else in EMC 9 was affected.

If you have this problem and it is caused by some other application, I suggest obtaining the free application shexview.exe at NirSoft - freeware utilities: password recovery, system utilities, desktop utilities and selectively disabling all non-microsoft context menu items till the problem goes away. I did not find my problem this way, however.

You might want to clean with compressed air and a good shake with the laptop upside down the right mouse button (the one of the touchpad) and also the key between right control and windows/alt gr key. The space underneath them, to be specific. It might be as simple as dirt under them that causes them to "click".

Recently I've noticed that when I right click on certain files or the desktop, that it would load the context menu after about 1 second. I know this isn't much but it should not take that long for something that small.

I went ahead and removed many items from the context menu and the desktop and all other files load the context menu almost instantly.

My problem is that .exe files still take 1-2 seconds to load their context menu. I tried removing almost ALL the options in the context menu and that did not even help.

Hi all

I've got an HP/Compaq Presario 2500 laptop and as the title says, the Right-click context menu keeps popping up all the time.....but it's intermittent, sometimes I can switch it on and it might take 30-40mins to start happening, another time it'll happen almost straight after boot up!

I've run virus checks and spyware tests - all negative. Even if I turn off the touch pad - it still happens!!!

It's driving me nuts.

Any educated guesses?

Regards

Answer:Right-click context menu keeps popping up on lappy!!

Follow up.....

I've got that fed up, I've reformatted and re-installed XP.......

Still the popup boxes keep coming.....it even started playing up whilst inputting the regional settings etc during the install!!!

Looks to me like dodgy hardware/contact somewhere......BUT WHERE!!!!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I have a couple of questions about the right click context menu in Cyberfox.

How do remove the "share this page" entry as shown in the screenshot.

Where did it come from?

I've tried the context menu editor add on for Firefox but that doesn't remove / hide it.

Additional Info:

Okay, I started Cyberfox with add-ons disabled and the entry was not present. I restarted Cyberfox with the BitDefender TrafficLight add-on diasabled and there was no sign of the "share this page" entry.

So my original question needs to be modified to something like:

Is there any way to modify right click context menu's that are created by add-ons?

Thanks.

Answer:How to modify Cyberfox right click context menu?

How to fix:

Extract the .xpi for the extension using 7zip or similar then edit the relevant .js file to make the required changes.

Save the file and create a new .xpi file then use it to replace the old one.

Hello

I have a Logitech MK700 keyboard. To fire up the Context Menu (i.e. the thing that pops up when you do a mouse right-click) you have to hit Function key (i.e. "FN") + "Print Screen"

I would like to us the Context Menu a lot. How can I get the Context Menu to be fired up using different keys?

i.e. The software that comes with they keyboard "Setpoint" allows you to change what the F-keys do. e.g. Launch Program or Show Custom Menu.

Is there something I can call in Windows that will fire up the Context Menu?

Cheers

J

EDIT: Shift+F10 doesn't work on my keyboard.

EDIT02: Typo alert! It's MK700 and not ML700. I have now corrected the above accordingly.

Answer:How can I launch the Context Menu (without using mouse Right-Click)

First, there is no "the context menu" as it varies according to the application you are using or window you have activated. The context menu key is located on your keyboard between the right side ALT and CTRL keys. Striking that key will give you whatever context menu is appropriate the same as a right click with a mouse.

I can't seem to find the registry key for the context menu. I tried googling all over but I can't seem to find the right words to find it (since the registry key involves the word "edit" and there's probably millions of entries with that word). What I'm trying to do is being able to right click on an html file and edit it with notepad. Except, when I try to click it, it opens in microsoft word, I want it to open with notepad though Do not get confused with file association, I'm not trying to associate it with notepad. Just to make myself clear, when you right click on an html file there is an "Edit" entry in the context menu, I want to be able to modify that for it to be able to open with notepad for quick editing instead of loading Nvu (html editor that's annoying to load sometimes). I don't know when Microsoft Word hijacked the edit button option in the right click context menu, does anybody know the registry path to change this? Your help would be greatly appreciated Thanks for anyone in advance that can help.

Hey everyone.

So I've been scanning/testing malware packs for a week or two now, but yesterday I noticed something strange. I have a few AV context menu entries for easier work, precisely I have one for Bitdefender, Malwarebytes and Tiranium. It works with BD, however when I try to scan with the other two, the following happens:

As you can see, I click on "Scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware" (everything is in Hungarian).

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware opens, but it finishes the scan in a whooping 4 seconds, saying it scanned 0 files!

Tiranium does the same.

Anyone knows why does this occur and how to fix it?

I am running Win Vista Home Premium, 64bit. I do a lot of photography and I would like to add an option to read a jpeg photo's EXIF info when I right click on a .jpg file while on the internet. How can I do this? I have previously added the option so that I can right-click on my jpeg files in any of my photo folders, and it works great. However, while on any of the photo forums and a person has their jpeg file shown, I would like to be able to right click on the photo, and have the menu that opens up have the option to see the EXIF data e.g., information as to the camera used and all the settings used to take the photo. I hope someone out there can figure out my gimmerish and solve my problem.

Thanx, orchided

Hi there,

When you right click on an running app, in Windows 7, shows a context menu and i want to disable it. You can see the jpg to see an example.

Best regards.

Answer:Disable context menu when i right click on an app in the taskbar

You could probably do it with AutoHotkey.

Code:
#IfWinActive ahk_class Shell_TrayWnd
RButton:: ;do nothing
return
AutoHotkey is free

Edit: you may need to ask for help on ahk forum since what I dashed off above might also kill right click in the System Tray.

I've looked at a few posts here and, I googled this but haven't found exactly what I'm looking for.
My Right-click Open With Context menu is full of choices I either never made nor see any point in being there: "Open [avi/flv/jpg] with Google Chrome" or a program that cannot open videos is taking up the list and I'm sick of watching what I'm clicking on and double-checking what I'm clicking. I saw a registry edit for how to combat this which got rid of some items though, there are numerous others and the method in which to reorder the wanted selections have not worked at all.
I don't mind going into the registry (again) if I have to but, I really want to get rid of the either unnecessary and, the ridiculous entries listed on the OpenWith menu!
Thanks in advance!
