Details Pane associating mp4 video files with audio details

Question: Details Pane associating mp4 video files with audio details

How can I re-associate .mp4 files with video details displaying in the Details Pane? After installing the K-lite codecs pack, my mp4's all began displaying in the details pane as audio files (Album, Artist etc) and no longer displays the important video default details (size, frame height, bitrate etc). I assume it was because of incorrectly associating file types when installing the codecs (even though wmv's, avi's are still correct), so I uninstalled the codecs but the Details categories remain for typical audio files. I've exhausted The Google and I'm stumped... any help? (Win7, 32-bit with VLC as my default player) Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,I'm using Windows 7 Professional x64. When I use Windows Explorer to view image files (jpg, png, etc.), I would like to see each image's dimensions listed in the Details Pane (when it's set to view the images as Icons/Thumbnails, rather than Details). I would like to see more audio details in win10 file explorer preview pane, especially the channels and bitrate for movies in the *.mkv format. (I would like to see if they include DTS 5.1, languages, subtittles etc.)

Before the latest creators update, this information was shown in the preview pane (along other video-details). Now I can't get it back. Icaros doesn't seem to help in this case.

What can I do?

I was wondering if you know if there is a way to improve Vista's Video Preview on the Details Pane.

The problem I see is that Vista shows the very 1st second of video, while Windows 7 shows the 4th. That's why many of the video previews on the details pane show a black screen on vista instead of actual video.

If anyone else has the answer, I will be really grateful.

I googled the problem and NOTHING!!!!! many information NO LONGER is displayed in my details pane in Windows Explorer!!!!!! song length is one of them gone missing (& total length if multiple files are selected) and I use that frequently!!!!! it ONLY shows basic information now such as artist, title, album, and genre!!! but total length is GONE!!! also MANY UNRELATED INFORMATION is now in the details pane for media files!!!!!!! mood of music has been added (never heard of that tag), song rating, and composer now have been added!!!! it even displays ALL THIS SAME INFORMATION for WAV files when it used to be ONLY file size and length for WAV files!!!!!!! WAV is NOT capable of tags so I don't know why Windows Explorer shows this information for WAV files!!!!!!

A fairly simple question:

Has anyone tried to (or found a third party app) that can put the details pane back to the bottom of the File Explorer windows, like it was in 7. It was of great use to me when reading tags and other information. In 8, it just takes needless width space from the windows.

How to Customize the Details Pane in Windows 10

I just did a reinstall of XP Pro and am having trouble with video files being "in use" when trying to move/delete them (only a several second lag, but it is annoying me). It has to do with a preview being generated in the details pane in the bottom left corner of Explorer. I eventually figured out how to turn off the preview option on my last install but have forgotten how I did it. Under folder options I have "do not cache thumbnails" unchecked. Is this the setting I need to change? Or is it somewhere else? It seems to me I need an option to not show a preview in the details pane.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Answer:How to Turn of Thumbnails in Details Pane?

I haven't done an XP install, but I have had problems like yours. Here is how I fix them without reinstalling, in case it may help? (The instructions may be different for XP.)

Thumbnails are used as icons when the folder is in Thumbnail view. This is usually not the problem, since they are usually cached after the first time. I turn them off by getting the Properties window for that folder. (I just go to the parent folder and right-click on the folder there, then choose Properties.) Then in one of the tabs, I find the Enable thumbnail view option and uncheck it. But, again, this is probably not the problem.

The preview thumbnail (actually, the whole details pane) can be turned off by unchecking View as Web Page in the View menu in one folder. Or, you can turn it off for all folders by going to View menu > Folder Options > General tab > choose Custom, then click the Settings button and in the View Web Content in Folders section, choose Only for folders where I select "as Web Page" [View menu]

If I want the details pane, but not the preview, I edit the HTML of the window. I don't know if you want to try this, it can be confusing, but here's what I do, just in case:
I right-click on the detail pane (or you can use the View menu), and click Customize this Folder... then choose create or edit HTML document. This allows me to customize that details pane. To remove only the worst case files from the preview, I see if I can find "var w... Read more

I've been trying to re-organize my photo collection. Previously, I had been using Windows Live Photo Gallery to tag my photos, and admittedly it was convenient. Recently, though, the program has gone on the fritz to where thumbnails aren't loading so it's harder to differentiate photos simply by the file name in cases where I have a lot of photos of the same group or folder. While I've tried a lot of troubleshooting to get the thumbnails to load, and would gladly take advice on that issue, in the meantime I'm trying to accomplish the same thing using the details pane in explorer.

When I highlight a photo right now, most file types load the date stamp, tags, rating, author(s) and comments properties in the details pane. However, I'd like to edit the people properties so I can tag individuals in the photos. I have not seen a way to easily do that short of using other software (such as Photo Gallery).

Does anyone know if there's a way to do this through explorer or will it require a separate application?

Hai Im new here..

Recently I was trying to add comments to movie folders so that i can keep a brief description about it when i click on it. It was easy to add comment then i had a bit trouble to get the comment getting displayed in the details pane...after playing with the registry for a while i got that solved as well.
Now I ended up with a problem where the comment being displayed eds with just some 3 or 4 words with the remaining given in dots (...) and I get a full display of it when i hover the mouse over it, which obviously goes way in 5 seconds or so.

So what i need is to find a way to expand what ever that is shown in the details pane so that it shows the entire content in consecutive lines without being restricted to one line (without having to hover a mouse)

You might get a picture of it if you have a small details pane on the right and make it show your processor details when you open thisPC.

Is there any way to permanently remove or disable all of the various "views" in the Windows 7 Navigation Pane *except* for Details? If a subdirectory contains audio files I *never* want to see "Album" or "Artist" or any of the rest of that garbage. If the subdirectory contains an image file I *never* want to see a thumbnail of images. If I need more information about a file I'll right click on it and select Properties, thankyewverymuch!

In short, when I click anywhere in the left or right panel in the Navigation Pane I never want to see *ANYTHING* except the file name, type, size, and date modified. If it isn't a file (e.g. Network, etc.) just show me a computer or device name, not some massive image of a router or other waste of my time.

I have this problem with the vista details pane and I have not been able to find any solution. I have Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium version. The problem is that:
1. My details pane is missing a lot of properties/tags . Only ones that are appearing are file date, file name, dated created.
2. When I go into a MP3 folder, same thing happens as I described in 1. Just the 4 tags appear and I don?t get any other tags that used to be there like artist name, rating, title, etc.

Up till now I have tried the following solutions:
1. I have reset all the folder options in Vista by going to Folders/tools/reset defaults. (did not work)
2. After resetting the folders, I have also turned on the details pane option under Organize/Layout and the details under the Views. (did not work)
3. Under View, in the tool bar, I went to Customize This Folder and chose the Music Folder Option, All Items etc. (did not work)

In Windows 8.1, I want to customize the properties displayed in the Details Pane for ALL of my MP3s . (That is, I do not mean removing/modifying the properties on an individual MP3/music file. I mean choosing what gets displayed in the Details Pane for all music files.)
In XP (which I love and miss), I do believe the Details Pane could be customized easily, but I see no way to do that in 8.1. For example, I want to display Artist, Album, Year, Track #, Size, and Duration ONLY. How do I remove Rating, Genre, Title, etc.
Also, can I remove the "breadcrumbs" (...) and have the full line displayed? In XP, everything was displayed. Now you have to hover over something to see it. How is that better?
I miss XP's file manager!

Check that your files haven't suddenly become "Read-only".

Also try running CHKDSK to check the drive.

After I've used one of my external HDDs at TAFE, my PC claims that it is "Read-only" and it takes several CHKDSK commands to fix the problem.
Of course after CHKDSK is finished, it says that there weren't any problems.

Hi, I just re-installed windows 7 on my desktop pc and have a question about the settings of the details pane in windows explorer (the one that appears and the bottom when you select a file). Previously when I selected video files (.mp4, .avi and .mkv) I would get the details at the bottom, the video frame width and height, size of file etc.. but since I reinstalled I don't get these details when I select video files. I know its only a small problem but I work with video files a lot and have gotten used to seeing the resolution of files without having to open them. Does anyone know how I can get the details pane to show these details again? At the moment it only displays the video size, name and state.

Here is a screen-shot of the details pane for a selected .mkv video file on my laptop, this is what I want it to display on my pc.

Answer:Solved: Windows explorer details pane for videos problem

Look at the properties of the folder, and there you will see a drop down list for the type.

the laptop is a Dell Inspiron 15–5559. The white LED blinks 4 times then the orange blinks twice.
Sometimes it works, but after the first time it started up it barely ever works.
I tried starting it with the battery, without it, with the cord, and without that.
What’s going on, and how can I fix it?

I need a little help with something that seems simple. I am using Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit. I have changed the columns in Details view in a folder. However Windows is not populating those columns, so what am I missing? This holds true on both my network drives and my local drives, so I checked my indexing options and they are set to index my local drives, so I assumed that should have at least worked. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Answer:Windows 7 Details View not showing details/data

Welcome to Seven Forums JLH1. Try this:

Right click an empty area in that folder> Sort by> More

For Windows 7, is there a list of the 'Details' available in the Windows Explorer folder view called 'Details' which has an explanation for each of them? Most of them are simple but some leave me scratching my head.

Answer:explanation of 'Details' in Windows Explorer 'Details' view

The "Details" which are available are those you see when a list of files is in "Details" view (as opposed to "Icons" or "Tiles" views. In "Details" view, depending on which column categories you have enabled, you are shown such things as filesize, file-date, filetype etc. If you then right-click any column header, you can choose to hide or show more information columns.I can't see how any of that can leave you scratching your head as it's no different to previous versions of Windows in that respect.

Hello, I was wondering about the possibility to increase the images thumbnail size on the details pane in file explorer, and to make the panel maller than allowed by default. Is it possible?
Thank you for your help

Answer:adjust file preview size on file explorer details pane

There seems to be a minimum size which is pre-defined, you cannot make it smaller. The preview and details pane size is set by the DetailsContainerSizer binary value in the Registry key:

I do not know of way to make the thumbnail larger in the details pane. It is larger in the preview pane.

Having decided to use Vista's Mail/Contacts/Calendar, I was quite excited to see that when I hovered the mouse over the Extra Large Icon of a contact, all of his details appeared in the right hand side preview panel ...... for a moment!

Now that capability has disappeared altogether!

I have checked under Organize x Layout that the Preview Panel is checked but it remains blank all the time!

What have I (it) done to remove this handy feature?
........... but there's more ................. the contact's name comes up say michael but I only want Michael Smith to show (not the word "contact").
When I try to rename it to a straight Michael Smith, Vista gets all upset and starts tellimg me that it probably won't work anymore if I persist!!

There's gotta be a way to rename these contacts!

Has anyone noticed if you rightclick on a video file (.avi) and choose properties, you can no longer tell if it's encoded XviD or DivX or Div3 or 4. When we run XP the details show the encoding version... Any way to fix this?

I just checked and it appears you are correct. I never noticed before though, because I always use Virtual Dub or one of the offsprings (AC3 version, MPEG-2, Nandub, MP3 version, Mod version) to do that.

I have a problem in my computer. The problem is I cannot change any details of all mp3 files such as the name of artist, album, genre and the title on the mp3 file itself. I mean when I right click on a mp3 file and go properties-->details, I cannot change anything here. When I open that file via Tag&Rename, I can see all details of that mp3 file. But on windows I cannot. One week ago there was no proplem. I used CCleaner to clean my registry and afterwards some problems arised. I hope someone can solve this problem.

Right click on a file and get the context menu and go to properties, then click on the summary tab. In the summary tab it has fields that shows the details for the file ie. Artist, Album, Year, Track Number, Genre, Title etc. Well for some reason those are all gone from every single file. All the files still work and if I use my tag editor all the inputs are still there, but if I go to properties then summary all the fields that show the details are gone which means they don't show up in the folder details. What do I do?

Nothing majorly important, no deadline, no urgency, just wanted to know how to do this in Vista.

Now, I don't demand a lot from an OS (Obviously, seeing as this is the Vista section. SLAMMERTON!), but I love the fact that there are so many properties/details to files, and I can choose which ones display/sort in Windows Explorer. I have a good collection of literature in .pdf form, and I'd like to set certain details to catalog them. I have the folder by default displaying details like Authors, Publisher, Pages, Country/region, Description, Company, Tags, and so on. The problem? All those fields are empty. And, when I go to the individual files' properties (Right-click > Properties > Details), none of those fields appear.

Is there anyway I can edit these fields? Ideally, I'd be able to "batch edit" them, so I don't have to go through one-by-one to give 20 books the same author, but I'd settle for one-by-one.

Or, do they have to be a certain file-type to have these fields editable? The only field I've been able to edit was the "Tags" field, and those could only be image files, and that's only when they were opened individually, in Windows Photo Gallery!

I'm the only account on the PC, UAC is turned off, blah blah blah...

Any words of wisdom will be helpful.

Answer:Changing Details/Properties of Files?

Banjo Man - try opening the PDF file then select FILE from the Tab at the top and select
Properties and see if you can modify the fields. Don't know how you would batch-edit them unless you wrote a Script.

I'm posting this from safe mode w/ networking as I don't know where else to turn.
I did a sfc scan and it stopped at 57% and I followed online instructions to obtain the sfc.txt. Here are the files unable to be fixed. The 2 corrupted are bcdedit.exe and wucltux.dll

Another thing to note. I've had this Lenovo y580 laptop for about a month and a half now and I've had to use "one key recovery" to wipe everything about 3 times. This thing will work fine for like 2 weeks then out of nowhere all these error messages and applications will start crashing. The HDD and memory health is fine from all scans from lenovo support they performed.

I only have warranty for hardware and I've been on the phone w/ them about a dozen times total. Now they want me to do a clean install by sending in recovery disks which would cost $60. Software warranty is extra $ which I'm very tight on. If I could manually try to fix this it'd be a godsend. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks. I also use MSE and malwarebytes so don't think its a virus it must be a flaw in the system. Thanks very much

Answer:SFC Details inside. How do I fix these corrupted files?

Hello JJ, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Here's a clean copy of those files from my system in the ZIP file below. After you extract (drag and drop) them from the ZIP file to your desktop and unblock them, the TIP box below will explain how to replace them in your C:\Windows\System32 folder.

You will need to take ownership and set permissions to "Allow" your account "Full Control" of the original file in your current installation before you will be allowed to replace it with the extracted copy.

If the system file is in use and you are unable to replace it with the extracted copy, then: Open a Command Prompt at boot.
Do steps 4B to 4D in this tutorial first to verify the drive letter of your Windows 7 drive. It's not always C: at boot.
Type in the command below to copy and replace the original file with the extracted replacement file.
Copy /Y "full path of extracted replacement file" "full path of original Windows 7 system file"
For example:
If the extracted replacement uDWM.DLL is on my desktop, then I would use type this in the command prompt at boot and press enter.

Copy /Y "C:\Users\User-name\Desktop\uDWM.dll" "C:\Windows\System32\uDWM.dll"

Hope this helps,

I'm in need of a new video card! I really don't know anything about computer hardware, so you'll have to help me out.

I am a gamer, and my video card sucks (I have a GeForce4 440), and I can't play any new games such as Battlefield 2. Even older games such as Battlefield 1942 and America's Army quit in the middle of gameplay all the time.

I have been making money recently, and can now afford a very good video card. I am willing to spend $200 - $325 for a video card. My computer is good enough for a good card (at least I think it is).

I have an Asus A7V8X-X motherboard with 512 MB ram. My CPU processor is AMD XP 2500 OEM (just as good as the pentium 4.)

I was thinking about getting the famous Geforce 7800. Is this a good idea? Will I need more ram? Will it fit into my case (ATX XP400)? Also, what are all these different types I'm seeing (7800GS, 7800GT, 7800GTX)? What are the differences?

You must do an awful lot of copying of awfully big files because most of what I do goes so fast that you don't even get to see the dialog! And when it does take a little longer I've usually got better things to do than sit and stare at it especially as all it tells me most of the time is that it's still "calculating".

I doubt that this is possible through the registry (though I will have a delve around if I get the time) which probably means it's not possible period. I guess you'd have to use a third party utility to do your file management if you were that determined.

Is there a way to make files and folders mingle together when using details view in Windows XP?

The way it works now, the folders are always grouped separately from the normal files. I typically sort by filename and I'd like the folders to be mixed in with the files, sorted by name just as if they were regular files themselves.

I know this isn't an error condition, but it is an annoyance. Please post a reply if you know a fix or workaround for this. Thanks!

View, Arrange Icons By, Show in Groups.
Not perfect though, because of the letter headers, takes longer to scroll.

Hello, This is the weirdest problem I've ever encountered. [I use thinkpad x220 with windows 7 professional + ubuntu 12.10, in dual mode] I've recently bought a new Toshiba LCD TV (it has 2 HDMI ports). I've also bought a 15 meter (50ft) HDMI-HDMI cable in order to connect it to my x220.(I use a DP -> HDMI adapter. I have used it for the last year and a half. It has always worked for me and continues to work - so there's no problem with the adapter. see the explanation in the paragraphs below)  Upon connecting my x220 with the adapter and the 15m cable, I have noticed that while the video connection to the TV is working, the sound doesn't work. Windows doesn't recognize that there's a digital audio device connected to the x220 . It can only play audio from the speakers or headphones port. Although all drivers are installed: I wanted to figure out what is causing the problem so I started ruling out things.  I connected another laptop that has an HDMI port with this cable, and it was able to play video+audio to the TV. - so no problem with the cable. I thought it's a problem with the DP in my x220 or the TV. I tried connecting the x220 with the adapter and a shorter HDMI-HDMI cable (2 meters cable) to the TV, and surprisingly, I got video + audio working:  Now I assumed it's a problem with long vs short cable. But then I booted into Ubuntu with the adapter and the 15m cable and everything worked! The x220 ... Read more

- 4 CD/DVD bays, 2 Floppy Drive bays, and 5 HardDrive bays
- 1 Side, Front, Back, and Bottom fans.
- Thumb Screws
- The option to get 2 Fans included instead of 1
- Alien Head Resemblence
I was planning on getting a combo from SMKSUPERSTORE that comes with
- P4 3.0GHz Processor
- Arctic Silver Alumina Thermal Compound
- Ultra Performance Copper Core Fan & Heatsink, Under 135* Under High Load
- IS7 Motherboard (INTEL 865PE) that supports HT, has a 800MHz FSB, AGP 8x, and got 9/10 in 4 reviews I read.
- 256 RAM Stick
- 3 Year Warranty on both CPU and Motherboard
I also plan to put more memory in from 4AllMemory
- PC3200 Dual Channel 1GB Stick

For example, for MKV videos Windows 7 shows no more information than it does for text files. I'd like to have thumbnails and data like duration, pixel dimensions, video and audio bitrate etc. as it shows for other types.

Good afternoon everyone, Here is the problem. I am trying to get a standard view for the files under 'My Music' and all subfolders. Does not seem to work. Let us take an example: In the My Music\classical\ subfolder all the subfolders below that are artists names and the files may consist of mp3, mp4, m4a, flv, swf, some txt, occasional mpeg. It seems that if the folder contains all mp3 files then I can select 'name', 'size' & 'length' and in folder options I select view>apply to all folders then it will display correctly. But not if there are mp4, m4a, and flv mixed or some other combination. Then (whoever is in charge of my computer) adds all the additional columns and I wind up clicking away to remove the offending details only to have to do it again and again. Is there a way to do it 'my way'? Thanks for viewing!

Answer:how to modify folder view details for music files?

Then (whoever is in charge of my computer)

As the title says,

When using my CAD program the details view of the folders will not show. I know how to change the views this is not the problem.
This previously worked but after updates it now will not. The information is there as it will sometimes appear after repeated attempts to open files but no consistency as to when the file details will show up.
I'm assuming some code or script has been screwed up.
I can view my files in all views EXCEPT details which is the view form I prefer.

Looking for some help figuring this out. Thanks!!

How to force Explorer to always show 'more details' while copying/moving files?

Answer:How to make Explorer always show 'more details' while moving files?

Can you be a bit more explicit? Where do you want these details to show up? Normally you just set Windows Explorer to shows Details via View / Details then click on Tools / Folder Options / View Tab and Apply to all Folders then Apply and OK.

Files and folders are mixing together but only on one drive or possibly in one folder. This drive in all places except two has a folder containing only folders or a folder containing only files. The exceptions are a folder called PVRRECORD and the root of the drive, which contains:

System Volume Information
recorded.txtClick to expand...

Then I move into PVRRECORD and things start messing up. Clicking on Name to arrange by name gives me mixed files and folders, usually (but not always?) with files of matching name to a folder coming after the folder. A file that you would expect to be mixed in amongst the folders may be at the end of the folders like a well-behaved file should be. Later it will end up mixed in with the folders like all the other files.

I found that clicking on alternate headings can cause the files and folders to separate and then clicking on Name again will give me the correct sorting order. However, I have to try Size, then Type, then Date Modified. Sometimes I only need to click on one other heading or maybe two but equally often I have to run through the whole lot before things go back to normal. Things don't necessarily arrange in a logical order, as you go through this process, until the last sort.

I'm using Details view but the problem still occurs in List view.

I can find plenty of hits in Google for people wanting to get this to happen and using "Arrang... Read more

Just a fleeting visit...

Under File, Properties, Summary I need to change the "Company".
I've successfully changed the "Name" (under Tools, Options, User Information), but cannot change the company.

I've tried changing the template too, and when opening the template file thereafter, the company appeared correct, however, if I open MS Word itself, the company is incorrect.

So, aside from the Name, how can I change the defaulting values in a document's property sheet (preferably without re-installing)?

Answer:Change default property details of Word 2000 files

Guys and Gals

Just wondering if anyone has worked out how to change the video thumnails in my videos in the video app. It appears that when you link your movie files it takes the first screenshot from the avi and uses this as a icon for the movie file.
I have tried adding a jpeg to the movie folder but the video app just ingnores this.

It has been previously suggested that you have to edit the movie file and imbed a image at the start of the file, but to be honest with hundreds of movie files i am not about to do that just to make it look good.

There must be a way of associating a jpeg with the file you would think.

An ideas???

File "Description" data fields etc. no longer appear in the Windows Explorer "Details" pane. Please see attachment.

Operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium, Version 6.0.6002, Service Pack 2, Build 6002.

ID3 tag data can be edited using MP3Tag editor, but is no longer available for edit in the Windows Explorer "Details" pane.

Any advice about how to restore the data fields in the Windows Explorer "Details" pane would be appreciated.

So around 6 months ago my Computer had started making strange noises, it was kind of like a rattling noise and i thought the bearing in my old PSU had gone
I checked to see if the PSU was the problem, so i put a pen inbetween the PSU's fan and stopped the fan moving while the computer ran, everytime i did this, i didn't hear the noise again
So i bought a new one and it still made the same noise.. i thought it might be my old rusty case rattling when the fan was on.. so i again bought a new case
I had this new case and psu for around 4 months and the problem still didn't go away... So just today my new purchase came in, i thought this time id spend more and get a good PSU and so i bought a corsair PSU
I expected no noise because its a good brand.. but the noise still happened.. im running out of ideas of what this could be.. and quite frankly the cost of constantly buying new PSU's is getting a bit of an annoyance when i could have spent this money on other things
I've thought it could be other things like the cooler fan, or a case fan.. but why would the sound stop when i put a pen between the PSU fan
anyway here is the video of the noise in question
click here really hope someone has some insight because this problem has been constant 6 months and it's really making me want to just throw away the PC i've spent so much money and time on
P.S on the video, the first noise isn't the loud noise, when i bang the computer it makes the loud revving noise, this revving noise happens ... Read more

Answer:Pc making loud revving like noises, video link inside and details on problem

Don't think it is the PSU, check any other fans inside case, like CPU for instance and possibly one on Graphics card.
It could also be a case of your hard drive being on its last legs - I hope you have everything important backed up to an external drive.

I had movie maker on my laptop computer but noticed that it did not have the sound recorder like some of the later versions. So I tried to install the newer version and then something did not work out.  I could not find movie maker on my system. When
I tried to download windows essentials 2012 which includes the movie maker it suggested that I already had it on my system but I cannot find in program files or program (x86) files.
So then I went to a link on Microsoft support and followed the steps and got the sfc details. I am unable to post the link right now but will do so soon.
From the sfc details, I gathered the problems files -
Then the next steps were to take ownership of the files and then replace them with files copied from another computer that has windows 8.1.
I have not yet been able to do the "take ownership" step as I tried many combinations of
commands at the
elevated command prompt but none has worked so far.
I also tried doing what was suggested in a link:
To fix corrupt windows system files in the answers thread on your website.
I am unable to post the link here. But it had to do with DISM clean up and restore health.
And I got this:
Error: 0x800f081f
The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required t
