Bring to front all windows for a certain application

Question: Bring to front all windows for a certain application

Hello, trying to find some key+click combination to bring all windows for a given application to the top of z-order. For example, I have several Putty terminal windows open in the stacked taskbar icon and I want to display all of them, not just the last used. The only work-around I have found so far is to shift+right-click and "minimize all windows" followed by "restore all windows". Any simpler way to do this?

Preferred Solution: Bring to front all windows for a certain application

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Completely surprised that this has received no response in almost two years (698 days). Are droidix and I the only Win7 users who use more than one window of the same application and would like to bring them all to front at once?.

Without even going into third party applications - what if you just want to open two or more explorer windows to copy files from folder to folder? Win7 has given us new "side-by-side" and "stacked" window arrangements that help with this but as soon another application covers these it take many mouse clicks and/or key combinations to display them all again.

Hey Microsoft! Please add a "bring group to front" context menu command to the taskbar! <-- this will probably fall on deaf ears so if there are any third party developers out there that can do this I would gladly pay for the application, could be your road to riches.

This started this morning. Running Windows 10 Pro. I can run the browser (Chrome), luckily. Word also. But I cannot most other apps (I think), like WinSCP, but not Calc, not Notepad++, not Notepad. If I try to run Calc, it loads in the task try and if I hover the mouse over it I can see the image of it. Same with Notepad++, But if I click on the icon, nothing happens. Word is fine when loading or clicking on the task try icon. Same with Chrome. Same with Edge, Firefox, Visual Studio. So far, limited to Notepad, Notepad++ and Calc but there could be more.

More: Explorer as well.

WELL, not exactly. I use a program called Agent Ransack to search the desktop. I don't use it much but I know that you can click on an Explorer icon and choose the folders you want to search. I did that and explorer came up OK. BUT not from the Start Menu or task bar.

Unfortunately running Explorer from this program limits me to selecting folders.

Answer:Cannot bring some apps to the front

Switch to and bring to the front in Task Mgr does nothing.

If I run Word and then File->Open-Browse, I can use Explorer no problem. Just not from Start or Task Bar.

Hi,

Can someone help me with this as i really can't think of how to do it, a quick Google search hasn't helped either and the only other place i could think of that is as useful as Google is... Seven Forums

I would like a Batch or VBS file to do the following (or something that will at least do it)

I have 1 PC with 1 Monitor...
I have 2 browser windows running full screen...

I would like to open/display/bring them to front alternately automatically.
How can this be done?

Example in readable form, well i hope:

Code:
:Start
Bring to front
"browser window 1"
Pause=30seconds

Bring to front
"browser window 2"
Pause=30seconds
GOTO :Start

Regards,
JDobbsy1987

Answer:Batch/VBS File, 'Bring To Front' help

Unless they are different browsers, it could be impossible to program something that would be able to discern "window 1" and "window 2" across many different browsing sessions.

Can you explain more of why you'd like to do this so we can think of other ways to possibly address it?

Hi,

I am working with a powerpont presentation where I have put a logo in the slide master, it needs to show on every page. So here is the problem. On some slides I have to insert pictures that cover up the portion of the logo that is saved on the master. However, the part of the picture that is covering up the logo is just dead white space, and I figure there is a way to make the logo always go to the front.

Let me know if anyone has any ideas or needs more clarification.

Thanks.

This is the second time I've gotten this bug, and it seems to occur roughly two weeks after a fresh install.

Long story short, I pin all of my favorite applications to the taskbar and when I click on a running program, I expect it to bring focus to that program (bring it to the front). Instead, it flashes yellow and the window that I want stays behind every other window. The only program that does not do this is Digsby for whatever reason. Basically, the only way to see an existing window is to minimize all of the windows in front of it and only clicking on the window itself will give it focus. That's partly a lie, because I've discovered that a series of clicks on the taskbar icon will do it, namely: right click, left click, right click, left click. I don't want to have to do four clicks when one normally works.

I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit acquired through the MSDN program for students (Academic Alliance or something). I do know that I never had these issues in the beta with Ultimate edition.

Thanks.

Answer:Taskbar bug, doesn't bring programs to front.

I am also having this problem. I'm using Windows 7 Professional 32-bit and am having the same symptoms. Clicking a program on the taskbar doesn't bring it to the front, it just blinks yellow/orange. I have to Win-tab or minimize windows in front of the program to get to it. Any help on this would be most appreciated.

I've looked all over and have no idea if this is even possible...Is there any way to keep an application (pinned or unpinned) so that it always stays on top of other windows? I'd like to keep for instance a chat window or a news ticker on top of everything else. It's getting kind of annoying having to alt-tab, Windows-tab or using aero peek on the taskbar to get back to a window I'd rather just have at the top.

Any solution you know of?

Well yes its called always on top, and basically we need to know what app it is to see if it will do that.

How do I get the windows key to start working again and also how do I get rid of the exclamation point? Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:windows key does not bring anything up when touched.

System Restore could fix a virus issue but only if you have a good idea when it went bad and that you are able to go back to before that date. Bear in mind that even if this works you need to be careful not to restore again to a later date which includes the infected period otherwise the virus comes back too. There are two programs that are a very good starting point to at least check (and possibly fix a virus). They are both free:MalwareBytes (often finds and fixes what your Antivirus can miss):http://www.filehippo.com/download_m...Download from green icon top right of page. Install, Update and Run.ADWCleaner (gets rid of nasty toolbar addons).http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...Use the blue button "Download @ BleepingComputer"This does not install, instead you "Save" the files somewhere (rather than Running it). Double click the saved file and run the Scan. The Log shows what it found then finally the Clean gets shot of anything undesireable.Keep the logs in case further action is necessary.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

Some studies have had over a 90% success rate.
I don't think this is the type of feature people should be encouraged to use. As it does exist on W8 it stands to reason it will eventually pop up in WP, but personally I think they'd be doing some folks a favour by omitting it.This might help.

Users are reluctant on the concept of ?free Windows?

Microsoft hasn't yet unveiled the new pricing model that it plans to adopt for Windows 10, but some sources close to the development process revealed earlier this year that Redmond was even considering offering the new operating system free of charge to a number of previous customers.

Does this mean that Windows 10 could be free for existing Windows users? Not necessarily, but at least those on Windows 8.1 could get the new OS as a free update, while those on Windows 7, Vista, and even XP might only have to pay a small fee to switch to this particular version.

While it's not yet clear whether Windows 10 will indeed be offered free of charge or not, some people are afraid that this would actually mean that Microsoft might adopt a completely new strategy that would in the end bring ads on our desktops.

Posts on the Windows UserVoice thread confirm that some users are indeed afraid of this thing and actually want Windows to be available with a fee in exchange for a no-ad experience.

I just upgraded my Lenovo E520 laptop to Windows 10 last week. All went fairly well except I have a problem bring focus to some windows. I see past forum topics with this problem (threads 14765 and 19244) but no resolutions so I'm starting a new thread. For example, I have my Firefox browser in the forefront of my desktop and two MS Word 2010 documents minimized. If I try to bring focus to one of the Word documents, I can hover over it but not bring it into focus. When I click the file to the left, it disappears and the Firefox browser window retains focus. However, when I click the second file (to the right), it comes to the foreground and obtains focus.
The order of the files does not seem to matter. I can close one file and then reopen it and it might be able to then get focus directly from the taskbar. Once I have one of the Word documents in the foreground, I have to click on the Firefox browser 3 times to get it to obtain focus. The only consistency is that clicking on a window in the taskbar 3 times in succession is guaranteed to give it focus if the first time doesn't work.

As I read my own description of this problem, it seems completely unbelievable that this would be a valid problem but it is. The only workaround I can see is to have each application/window in its own desktop but that's also silly.

Here's a video of the full problem description:

Answer:Cannot use the taskbar to bring other windows to the forefront

Is switching apps with Alt-Tab working OK? That would be viable workaround until some solution come up.
This sounds really annoying

Edit: could the non appearing word document be in the off screen position? Did you work before on two screen or something like that?

Ie: right click on problematic doc and select move. Then move it with keys.

One of the users who posted on UserVoice suggests a different approach, that would make a lot more sense for Windows 10, considering the possibility of seeing ads in the future release.

Hello,
I was just wondering, when Windows 10 finally comes out, since they are looking to unify the desktop and the phone experience, does anyone think our app situation could finally end up being fixed? The way I'm seeing it, if all the apps are universal our app count should go way up? I mean, you would have a desktop market and a phone market sharing the same app development. The ones that are currently being ignored such as Netflix would get more attention :D(I love Netflix) Does anyone else think it would be likely? Or am I just dreaming?

Answer:Could Windows 10 finally bring us on par app wise?

It will help but it will be 2017 when we are almost equal. Long way to go.
On the bright side, in the long term windows might become the number 1. But that will be after 2022 or so..

That should work so make sure you are running in an Administrator Command Prompt... Try turning that off and rebooting and you should be good...

In November 2006, I made posts regarding that Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP won't bring up Westlaw.com. My November 2006 Major Geeks post is at
http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=868751#post868751

I finally found a solution.

The site http://iis.bhsu.edu/lis/digital/faqs.cfm states that an inability to access Westlaw.com from Internet Explorer 7 generally is due to an incompatibility between Westlaw website and computers with Windows XP Service Pack 2.

Here is the fix listed at http://iis.bhsu.edu/lis/downloads/westlaw.doc :

1. Please check whether you have Service Pack 2 installed on your computer.
? Right click on ?My Computer? on your computer desktop.
? Choose ?Properties?
? Fourth line on the Window should mention ?Service Pack 2? - if Service Pack 2 is there then you need to configure your Internet Explorer browser

2.
? Open Internet Explorer browser (click on it)
? Go to ?Tools?
? Choose ?Internet Options?
? Go to ?Security?
? Choose ?Trusted Sites? and bring slider down to lowest level
? If you do not see a slider, then click on ?Default Level?

3.
? Click on ?Sites,? - a window will pop up and then add 3 websites ?

Answer:Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP won't bring up Westlaw.com

I tried to do a search for this, but didn't come up with anything. Basically I want to know how to bring all of the windows within a group back to their original sizes.

For instance let's say I've got two Word files open side by side. If I go to a maximized Google window to look something up now I have to click on both word files separately. I think this is a lame excuse. The function was very much used by the users - at least as far as I can tell.

I installed Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP two days ago. It generally works, but I ran into a problem. Prior to IE 7, I listed a well known cite (westlaw dot com) as a trusted site. Now when I try to bring that cite up from my old bookmark link, I get a completely white page. When I try to go from a link on the google search page, nothing happens. I did notice at the bottom of the window that IE 7 was analyzing the page for phishing.

I removed the cite from my trusted cites list and turned off IE 7 phishing. I still have the same problem. I have not had a problem with IE 7 otherwise. Do you have any idea what the problem is?

Answer:Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP won't bring up a website

I've only found one web site IE7 doesn't 'work' on and that's my local grocer's shop online site. I sent them an email asking why the site doesn't work with IE7 and I'm still waiting for a reply.
I think a lot of web sites just aren't 'up to snuff' for IE7, but eventually they'll HAVE to be or they'll lose visitors.
Amazon works great.
Maybe it's a lack of security on some websites thing?

I thought Microsoft's explanation of why they dropped DVD support from the Windows 8 - Media Player (because everyone streamed movies now days) was a little silly.

Umm, but I wonder about all those millions upon millions of dvd's still out there and those still being sold? Maybe they might sweeten the Windows 10 pot and bring it back.

Then again, Microsoft sometimes, reminds me of a shady politician side stepping the issues.

Answer:Will Windows 10 bring Media Player with DVD functions

My guess is Windows Media Center will carry over into Windows '10', (when all the proper elements are in place.)

Hello.

I downgraded my Qosmio F50-137 to XP, found every driver needed for hardware recognition, but am still looking for the Fn-Keys and Hotkeys to work.

I know (or at least think) that I have to install the "Toshiba Hotkey Utility".

But this utility needs the "Toshiba common module" for Windows XP to be installed.
I fond on the web two common modules for Windows XP:
common_modules_2489A
and
common_modules_24895A

The first one says "This software utility does not support this system.Installation will be terminated"
The second one says "TVALZ driver installation has failed"

How can I make the installation work properly? or How can I make the Fn-Keys and Hotkeys work on my F-50 ?

Thank you in advance

Microsoft Could Bring ?Ads? in Windows 10 Share Menu

One of the changes coming in the Windows 10 Creators Update due in April is a brand-new share menu, which opens right in the center of the screen instead of the sidebar as it happens in the existing stable OS builds.

But while the revamped share menu isn?t exactly surprising since we?ve seen it several times already, having app recommendations in it certainly is.

As gHacks reports (with a screenshot posted on Twitter by Vitor Mikaelson), the share menu will include not only the typical apps you can use for sharing content, but also some other apps that you don?t have installed on your PC. And which were never installed, actually.

Some people call these ?ads,? Microsoft itself calls them app recommendations, and the chances are that you?ll be able to disable them from the Settings screen in Windows 10. But without a doubt, all these recommendations could become a little bit too intrusive, especially because they would thus show up on the lock screen, in the Start menu, and in the share menu.

Turning app recommendations off will still be possible
Clicking one of the app recommendations in any of these Windows 10 screens will get users to the Store product listing, allowing them to instantly start the install process.

In the screenshot included in the article, the Box app is the one that?s recommended by Windows 10 and which could be used for sharing, so clicking it opens the Windows Store right to th... Read more

I know the question might sound a little wired but here is the issue I accidentally faced with my Windows 10 PC. You can follow the below instruction to replicate the same issues in your Windows 10 Environment.

If you right click on the task-bar and select and of the following options, i.e.
Cascade windowsShow windows stackedShow windows side-by-side
you will see that all of your windows sized will be automatically changed to either very small or very large. Now I didn't find any way to undo it and bring my windows size to the previous default one (what was after the Win 10 installation) except manually streaking each window to almost the default size, but again it's not perfect.

So do any of you guys know a way to change the window size back to normal what we get after installing the Windows 10 OS? Please share if you found any solution.

Long story, abridged version: I need to move photos from the MS Cloud to a Nokia Windows phone. I just switched phones (old phone to new phone) and have a good number of photos that were placed up on the cloud from my previous phone. Still with me? So, now that I have the new phone, and it's "Photo" section is empty (obviously) I would like to transfer those photos sitting up on the cloud, down to my new phone for viewing. I know I can do this; have done it before, but for some reason, unable to now. I was able to very successfully grab down contacts and texts from the cloud, but for some silly reason, can not grab photos on down. Anybody have any advice? Thanks!

As promised on September 30, when Microsoft presented Windows 10 Technical Preview for the very first time, the company is now working on two different fronts, trying not only to implement more new features based on user feedback, but also to refine the existing ones to work more smoothly on all devices.

Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9860 was the first to come with a notification center, so it's only natural to expect this particular feature to improve in the next update.

That's exactly what's going to happen, according to WinBeta, as Microsoft is now working not only to add new features to the notification center, but also to change its default position on the taskbar.

Only little is known so far, but it appears that some of these improvements might already be there, so it's pretty clear that we're not very far from the debut of a new OS update.
New position for the notification center
One of the most noticeable changes in the upcoming Windows 10 Technical Preview build will be the new position of the notification center.

At this point, its icon is placed at the left of all System Tray icon, but in the upcoming update the notification center will be moved at the right, just near the clock.

While it's difficult to find a reason behind this change, Microsoft most likely believes that it's more natural to have a notification center next to the clock, but it obviously remains to be seen if users like the new position more.

At the sam... Read more

I have tried other devices, and the same thing happen, fine with back usb ports, but not with front. The front ports may not, if they are indeed USB 1.1, deliver enough power for the USB stick to work.Try connecting a device that does not draw a lot of power, like a mouse, to see if they are functioning properly.

Hi,
I really appreciate the good design of Dell Inspiration 7353 laptop, it's good, mostly indeed.
Recently I have a problem to use legacy boot (USB, DVD/CD, Internal HD, whatever), after I have upgraded the BIOS to the latest one (Inspiron_3153_3158_7353_7359_7568_1.13.0). Due to legacy boot is required in my daily work, so I will ask for help, see if anyone can give me a solution.
When I used the laptop without any BIOS upgrade, it can boot from any legacy driver (USB, etc) with Windows 7, 8+ etc.
Then it had a small USB issue, I thought I should try to upgrade BIOS, see if this can help, then soon I started to regret, because I had found that all legacy boot is failed, the Windows 8.1 throw me into a BSOD, tell me PAGE FAULT error. I have tried USB, internal HD & DVD, all same.
Then I googled, saw someone had similar problem (not same), he cleared CMOS by pull out the battery, so I tried it without any hope, but surprisingly, when I pull out the battery and remove the connection of power adapter and laptop battery, by pressing the power button several time with & without power cord connected, then I installed the CMOS battery, laptop battery, restart the laptop.
When I press F12 to load the boot menu, it really can load legacy bootable device, but that's one time thing. After the system reboot, the problem back again, looks like if I want to boot into legacy bootable device, I will have to remove CMOS battery each time like above all...sad.

Can anyone help? I'm not actually sure if this is a problem with Outlook of Windows 7 so placed this question in both forums.

From yesterday I've discovered that new windows will not open in front of my Outlook main screen. So for example, if I click to write a new email, the icon appears at the bottom on my task bar but not in front of me on my screen. I have to minimise the Outlook main screen to see the email entry screen. This is also the case for other programs too -- explorer, chrome, powerpoint. The main Outlook screen seems to be the predominant one and windows will not open in front of it. Very annoying as now every time I have to minimise it, adding a new click every time I do a new task!

I suspect some setting in either Windows or Outlook has been changed to have this effect. It happened after I installed the Salesforce.com plug in for Outlook so that I can sync between Outlook and Salesforce.com. I don't want to uninstall it as it's very useful.

Hope someone can help?

Gary

Hello all,

I just upgraded to Windows 10 recently, and so far (for the most part) it's working great!

The only issue I have is that some windows won't focus and stay on top when I alt-tab to it or click it, like it did in all other versions of Windows.
For example: I have Chrome open on top, I alt-tab my music player (which is in a small window), and the music player goes in front, but when I click the Chrome in the back of the player, the player stays in front, covering parts of the screen. This happens to multiple programs I run.

Besides this issue, sometimes when I alt-tab to a program, it just doesn't even show up in-front of whatever other program I have currently on top.

Anyone else with these problems?

Answer:Sometimes Certain Windows Refuse to Come to the Front

Yeah I got this problem as well. Strangely not many people seem to be reporting this problem. I've looked through all types of window options and I haven't found a solution unfortunately. I guess some smart fellow has to put together a registry hack of some kind.

Was just wondering if anyone has encountered a problem like this before. I have a system that hangs when I click the "Turn Off Computer" icon in the Start Menu to gain access to the "Standby" "Turn Off" and "Restart" buttons. After I click the "Turn Off Computer" button it will just sit there for several minutes with the hourglass until finally the menu will come up. I fixed this once before by removing some things from startup. This time I fixed it by killing the googletaskbar.exe. I then uninstalled the Google Taskbar and rebooted and still did not have a problem but suddenly it has returned! I have no idea what is going on, there is really nothing obscure that is starting up on boot or running. Anyone have suggestions??

Howdy,
I have a Windows 10 laptop that has been working fine since being upgraded from Win7 about 6 months ago.
I switched it on yesterday, no problems encountered, until I opened File Explorer (old Windows Explorer) and found the window/view had 'mirror imaged' ? the top menu options (file/home/share/view) had switched to the right side of the window, and the 'close' and minimise buttons had switched to the left side. The Navigation/file view is also reversed.

I opened Control Panel, same thing, everything reversed. See attachements.
This was a strange experience!

I downloaded the latest Windows updates thinking it may have been a bug, but no change.
I also noticed that when I right click a WINRAR zip file, the first 3 or 4 options in the pop-up are written in Arabic, along with the typical English options underneath.
Has anybody seen this before or can advise a fix?
Any help appreciated.
Cheers,
Rod

Answer:Windows 10 views back to front

Hello rodf Welcome to the Ten Forums!

I could tell you what I might do or someone else would do namely wipe the entire drive and start all over fresh to eliminate any concerns over malware. I do have to suspect that but also have to advise looking to see any new language pack or other programs were just installed lately. A bug laced app if not a language pack would be a thought in that regard.

The next option of course is booting into the F8 Boot options for the Recovery/Repair tools and trying to get the System Restore feature running knowing it would be a task while still in Windows to see a recent still old enough restore point selected to go back far enough before the hidden change was made. While you see it now you still don't know just when whatever struck?!

Something went sideways on you for sure seeing that. The Reset This PC option is also one of the options under Recovery that will see a fresh copy of 10 put on however while you may even want to consider an Upgrade to Repair or Clean Install left open for the two last resort options in order to get this cleaned up. I would still opt for the System Restore point first however to get things rolled back if possible.

I often want to keep a reduced-size window (in Windows XP) on screen from another program - e.g. Notepad. - So that I can use the information in it whilst using a different application. However - as you would expect - as soon as I start using the other application this application's window comes to the front and the reduced-size window disappears. Hope that makes sense

Is there anyway I can 'lock' a window - so that it always appears on top of all other applications - and then 'unlock' it when I have finished.

Thank you.

Answer:Solved: Locking Windows to Front?

You can lock windows programatically with C++ , which would help.

I am going to try to give as much details as possible. One of the core programs to our business is running off of a access 97 database. The front end is a custom coded app that has been in place for many years. We are forced to migrate off of xp because of Microsoft end of support. So we are in the process of upgrading or replacing machines with windows 8.1. The problem we are having appears to be coming from windows 8 suspending ideal apps. When the user launches the app it works fine. The user runs a report and prints it out or gets a phone call or whatever and doesn't use the program for as little as 2-3 minutes it seems to go in to the suspended mode. When the user returns to the program it acts like it cant fully restore its connection back to the database and just hangs on basic searches. The only way to get it to work again is to force close the app and then reopen and use it till it since ideal again. Sometimes a reboot is required to get it to fully work again. Has anyone come up with a way to stop windows from suspending specific apps? Or have any other suggestions, because of this problem our project is being put on hold and leaving us vulnerable to outside attacks.

Please don't say update your software to a more modern platform, because we are in the process of developing a more modern version but are probably 6+ months away from having a fully tested and functioning system.

Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated.

If you do it that way, you can create a shortcut to the application in the XP VM on your windows 8 desktop and only the application comes up, not to whole VM window. I've got some clients using that now for an old database application they have that's no longer being produced.

Hey everybody, I just installed Windows 7 and everything works fine, but I am not able to get my sound from the jacks that are on the back of my computer. The front jacks are working and all but my audio one is broken, so the sound is horrible. I tried to fix it with drivers and all, but I just can't find anything to solve my problem, and I haven't seen anybody else having this problem. Please help me guys, I want to listen to my music D:
EDIT: Okay guys, I fixed it... Because there was a thingy broken in the front jack, the computer was thinking there already was a headset plugged in the front jack, so it didn't play the two sources. Thanks anyway !

If Internet Explorer 7 does something like change a web page while I have it in the background it immediately moves that window to the foreground of my screen, interrupting the app I am currently in. It does this to itself as well and if I click links in several windows before it gets to the next page on them I can watch as a veritable cluster f**k of windows shift on my screen in a psychedelic mess one right after the other coming to the front.

This is completely idiotic to have it built like this. Is there any way I can turn this "feature" off for good so that Internet Explorer 7 won't continue to behave in this counterproductive manner?

Answer:IE 7 windows coming to front constantly

Hi bauhsoj !

Found another discussion about the same kind of issue, could be related to some javascript on a particular webpage you're visiting and the way IE7 handles the windows focus function :
http://channel9.msdn.com/forums/Coff...-behaviourbug/

Try updating java and make sure you've installed all the latest critical updates for IE7.

Try resetting IE's settings to default :

I recently upgraded to windows 2000 and my computer now runs at half the speed it used to. I have an old IBM Aptiva, 400 mhz AMD K6-2 processor with a 100 mhz front side bus. I have tried different motherboard jumper settings and all I can get out of my front side bus is 49.8 mhz.

Answer:windows 2000 and front side bus speed

Your PC does not have the horsepower and mostly the amout of memory needed to run Windows 2000 propertly. I recommend you install Windows 98SE, it a much smaller OS.

When I start my computer Windows XP with Front Page starts to install. I Have to keep pressing the cancel button on the install menu. If I want Front Page I can load it up from All Programs menu.Is there any way of stopping this trying to install?

Answer:Windows XP with Front Page start to install.

I am not sure I understand, Front Page is part of Office, are you sure it is already installed because Office is scheduled to run on startup. You can change this using Start/Run/type msconfig and click on the Start Tab.

Hello,I am helping my cousin out, she has a problem with her new laptop although it didn't have this problem when new.I have installed Spybot and AVG (from official websites) and updated to latest version and scanned, nothing found. Only a few little tracking cookies but nothing major, it removed them with no hassle.I also got her to reinstall "MSN plus!" without the sponsor program.I have told her to use Firefox but even when using Firefox IE windows pop up in front, spyware I should have thought...It sometimes comes up with pop-ups saying "CiD" before them. One of them had the URL "http://www.filmon.com/indexOld/" but this one had no "CiD" in front of it.Please help me help her. Thank you so much!DDS (Version 1.1.0) - NTFSx86

I have a Gigabyte GA-F2A75m-HD2 (Rev 1.0) board and this is quite an odd one. The front port worked with Ubuntu and other Linux distros but it seems to be the opposite case with Windows 8.1. I installed the latest Gigabyte version of the Realtek HD Audio Manager but it still doesn't work. What should I do?

I have the codec ALC887

Answer:Front Audio panel not working on Windows 8.1

You might want to double check if you have the latest BIOS firmware.

Hello,
I just upgraded from windows XP to Windoes 7 & installed all the latest available motherboard drivers from intel.
Everything is working fine but there is no audio via my front audio jack. Even Realteck Audio Manager is even not recognizing any pluggen in jack in the front audio panel.

Have installed the latest drivers & checked the Realteck Sound Manager settings. There everything is OK but don't know whats wrong.

Will be thankful if any of you genius people give the solution.

Configuration: - Intel P4 C2D Processor
Intel DG33FB Motherboard

I would like to place a ballot within a web page designed by Front Page 2000. It would be a yes or no question and voters would be able to see the result as soon as their vote is cast. Result would be displayed by a line graph showing percentage yes and percentage no. I have seen this format used on news sites such as CNN. Can anyone tell me how to design such a ballot or refer me to a source that contains the info? Thanks.

Hello, I'd like to know how to enable my front microphone/headphone entrance (the green and pink ones) on Windows 7

Thanks =)

Answer:How do I enable my front microphone and headphone jack with Windows 7?

The front panel should automatically be enabled, providing the cable for the front panel audio is connected to the motherboard, and you are using the correct sound driver. I assume you have Realtek as I used to have a P8Z77 LE Plus motherboard and it had Realtek on board audio.

On many PC cases there are two connections available for front panel audio, "HD Audio" and "AC 97". The HD Audio is preferred as it as some jack sensing functions that the older AC97 does not have.

I looked at the Realtek HD Audio Manager on my system and there is no option to enable or disable the front panel jacks. There is an option to mute or not mute the speakers when a headset is plugged in but that's all.

Even if you only have the generic, basic function, Windows installed High Definition Audio drivers installed instead of the correct hardware drivers you should still get front panel headphone operation.

In Spontaneous restarts, perhaps seemingly caused by power switch? Help! I describe a bothersome situation where, as of now, it appears that my PC is rebooting itself once in the morning upon being woken from sleep and logged into, then behaves fine after that (so overheating, hardware failure, etc., are not the likely causes).

In Random reboot someone experiencing a similar problem a couple years ago says "I've set Windows 7 to do nothing when the button is pressed" as the way the user solved his random restarts, and I'd like to try that myself.

I know if I were a "real man" I'd open the case, find the restart button, and unplug it.

But I'm not. I'm a wimp who hates moving his case, unplugging things, and opening the case, if it can be avoided.

Is there really a setting in Windows or in the BIOS that would disable the signal from the reset button? My case does have separate buttons for power and for restart.

Answer:How to Windows-disable the front-panel restart button?

If it is the reset button you are trying to disable, it cannot be done from Windows.

It is a hardware reset directly to the circuits on the motherboard.

So my Velociraptor died Thursday and I took the plunge upgrading from XP to 7 RC. Here's the rub:

My Gigabyte G31M has the Intel HD Audio bits, but my older case (Antec P180) has the AC '97 front panel header. I had connected them anyway, however "sensing" headphones never worked. Under XP all that meant is that my speakers wouldn't turn off when plugging in the headphones.

However, Win7 won't even play out of the front panel, unless it detects headphones. So my headphones are not working. I've scoured the internets for a way to either:

1. Force Win7 to always play out the front panel in addition to the speakers, like my XP setup.
2. Detect headphones when plugged into the old front panel.

I have failed on both counts. So mighty [H] crowd: Do you hold the key to my salvation?

Big thanks in advance, if somebody can help me out with this.

Answer:Windows 7 Doesn't Play Sound Through My Front Panel

Does your board have two places to plug in the front panel audio? Like an AC97 AND a 'Hi-def' or whatever they call it? I have NO idea, but would that make a difference?

Hi all,

I've just installed Windows 7 and was very happy to see all the hardware working, even my Realtek HD Audio sound card, except the front jacks.

On windows XP I could solve this by with the Sound Manager that comes with the realtek drivers, and select the "Disable front panel jack detection" check box. Unfortunately, after installing the Vista drivers, I could not start he Sound Manager app beause it said it worked only on Windows Vista.

So, if someone knows a way I could start the manager or how I could set the "Disable front panel jack detection" by modifying the registry, or ofcourse, any other way to make the front jacks work, please help.

Thanks

Answer:Front jack not working for Realtek HD Audio on Windows 7

I installed it and run it as is and have no problems, everything's working. I don't have to run in compatibility mode or anything. Maybe uninstall it and reinstall
Realtek

Helping a friend of my wife from where she works, thought I could fix it for him but now not sure.
He had his computer sitting on a front porch for I guess quite awhile so it got cold and warm and cold and warm etc.
He had a bunch of spyware viruses etc
I did a clean install and everything is good except for starting.

If you press the front button to start it like normal nothing happens, absolutly like it is dead.
However, if you turn the surge protector off and take out the battery and put it back in then turn the surge protector switch back on it starts right up, I guess it is like draining all the power and then starting it. You can then run xp and do anythng normally and then go to start and shutdown and it will shut down but then if you press the button on the tower again it acts like it is dead again.

So if you do the battery thing again it will start right up or if you unplug the power cable from the back of the computer and wait about 10 sec like draining the motherboard then plug it back in and it automatically starts the computer right up and everything is normally and it runs great. BUT when you got to start and shut it down the you cannot start it with the switch button ;you have to do the power drain again.

Does this mean the switch is bad or could there be something else wrong or what? Can someone help me, I am rreally stumped here and I would like to get it running so it starts up the right way. Thanks in advance for anyone who will help with this.
