Beep, Beep wont stop

Question: Beep, Beep wont stop

Hi, I have a acer travelmate 4070 laptop when you turn it on it starts beeping loud,
I started clicking enter so it can boot quick lol as soon laptop booted, opened window
went to normal screen operation it stopped beeping.
I gave it a shut down, turned it on again and that loud beeping started again.
Sounds like a smoke detector lol the beep wont stop, what can it be ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:RE: Dell Inspiron 15 - 3000 series - Beep Beep Beep Pause Beep Beep Beep

Hi Ganny,
What are the exact # of beeps in a cycle?
Kindly review this chart and see page# 47 - it will help isolate the source of the issue.
Based on the exact # of beeps, that part would need to be replaced.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hi,
My laptop here is a Dell Inspiron 15, 3000 series.
The laptop itself works perfectly fine, I am able to get into windows (which I installed myself, it originally came with Ubuntu).
Occasionally though, it will do a BEEP BEEP BEEP PAUSE BEEP BEEP BEEP PAUSE (repeats).
This happens on boot and sometimes when I am using it. Sometimes it turns off suddenly when I am shifting the computer around. It's extremely loud.

What is causing this? The sound seems to be coming from around the area the Memory banks are under the laptop, but nothing seems to suggest that anything is wrong.
I took a suggestion and used FN+Power to do Hardware Diagnostics which said nothing is wrong.

What else can I try?

Thanks!

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15 - 3000 series - Beep Beep Beep Pause Beep Beep Beep

Hi,
I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check if the beep pattern repeats.

Switch off the computer.
Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
Remove the battery from the computer.
Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
Then connect back all the peripherals and check if the beep pattern repeats and reply us with the beep count.

If you still receive 3 Beeps on the system then it indicates System board failure.. You will have to replace it on the laptop.
Please let me know the findings.

I understand that this means there is a system board error.  I have a very good reason to believe that the BIOS had an issue (when I checked it before this happened, it had 75 boot options listed and said the volitale memory was almost full). Question: can I somehow force the BIOS to reset itself?  Is there a pin short I can use for this? Of course I am 2 weeks out of warranty :/  I assume if I sent it in they would just charge for a boarsd swap... likely $500-$600 dollars. Thanks for any help!

Answer:X230 1 beep, 3 beep, 3 beep, 1 beep, no screen: can I reset the BIOS?

1-3-3-1 means no memory. If you have 2 DIMMs, try with just one, then just the other. When you try with just one DIMM, it needs to go into slot-0. When you have the machine sitting lid-down and the battery compartment away from you, slot-0 is the one on the right.

My X230 gets very little use since I bought it in 2012... sometimes no use at all for weeks at a time. Yet the system board failed, as did a replacement, and now the third board seems to have failed. On startup I get 1 beep, 3 beep, 3 beep, 1 beep and a blank screen. I tried the existing RAM stick in both slots: no startI bought and tried a NEW stick of RAM from Crucial in both slots: no startI tried both sticks in the slots at the same time: no start Other than another bad system board, what could it be? Where can I get a system board that might last? By the way, at the same time I bought the X230 I also bought a T530 that gets gallons of heavy use almost every day and never had a problem that I didn't cause myself.

1-1-4-1 - Cache Error (level 2). You have a problem with the bios, which may require the replacement of the entire motherboard.

Hi, I have been using the Y480 for almost 2 years. However, when I boot up this morning, it just beep beep beep continously. and the screen just have a cursor blinking. But after I reboot again and press F2 to enter bios, and then quit bios settings, the notebook can be boot up successfully. I have backup everything I need What should I do to fix the error? Is my harddisk gonna be failed? I have lost all the purchase receipts but I have registered 2 years ago. Thanks!Peter

Answer:Y480 continous beep beep beep during startup

Beeps are error messages from the Motherboard. Either the MOBO is failing or you have a problem with your RAM, I dont think it is related to your HDD, but you should create a backup. Also, if you don't have, please create recovery disks immediately. You may want to do more research depending on the BIOS manufacturer and the beep codes. You can google these terms and you should find information on the procedure to validate this. You can also try to re-seat the RAM, maybe it got a bit unsettled, if you moved the laptop. All in all, if you took the externded warranty and you are still under it, you may want to send the laptop to Lenovo for repairs.

I have two printers connected to a Dell E520 through Vista. They are a Brother 5440CN and a HP 6110xi. The .Brother works ok but I can't say the same for the HP. Clicking any button on the HP gives the same response. Beep, beep, beep. I have recently moved the system to a new location just a couple of feet from where it was. Before the move Brother would scan and copy and the HP would do the same, but now as noted I can't get any response out of it but beep, beep, beep

Anybody have any ideas??.

I have ThinkPad T500, 2241, CTO. Every time laptop boots, there is an annoying beep. It is not a beep sound that one might have when power status changes. Beep is off both in Power Manager and turned off in BIOS section of power management. Moreover, in device manager in non-plug and play list i disabled the BEEP. Still this annoying sound is there. BIOS is updated. However, there is no other section in BIOS where I can turn off the beep. Please help!Message Edited by Gordik on 03-22-2009 09:31 PM

Look through the bios again, there is a separate entry for beeps afaik. Did you look in the section where you can also set power mode beeps, keyboard beeps etc? I think its there, not 100% sure though.

any ideas?

Answer:Compaq bios freeze short beep long beep

Is the beep pattern just one short one long? Check your manual for the POST beep codes to determine what it is telling you. All POST beep codes are different so there's no way to tell unless we know exact model of your PC. The manual usually has the beep code in it, though.

Answer:CPU fan is working for few seconds and stoped then a long beep and 2 short beep

Hello, Your reported T61 bios beep codes would indicate you have one of the following failures: System boardLCD assemblyDIMMThe DIMMS would be my first choice to test so, if you have more than one DIMM installed, try  try removing one of them and try to boot, if OK, you have removed the bad RAM; however, if the results are the same, remove the other DIMM and install the one you removed previously. If you can boot OK now, you have isolated the bad RAM. Now, if you can't boot with either stick, then, I guess the RAM is not the problem (unless you have two bad sticks and I doubt that). See the  Memory Removal and Installation Guide for more information. Good luck!

Hi guys,

I have an Asus Z97A Motherboard/GTX 1080/24GB DDR3Gskill/ 500 GB SSD + 1to HDD and recently when i boot my PC i hear 1 long beep then quickly after 3 short beep.. I've searched in Asus website about the meaning of these beep and it's written that it's a Video card faulty..

But well just after these beep my pc is booting well ! and video card working well too, i've no problem playing games.

The strange thing also is that it's making these beep like 1 time every 2 or 3 days as i shut down my pc every night and when i'm going to work.

Do you have an idea of what i can do ??

EDIT : And by the way here's what i tried,

-Disable integrated graphic
-Clear CMOS
-Update Nvidia driver

A few times now my E5440 will give a low beep... then a few seconds go by, and another beep.  It just happened a minute ago - only two beeps this time.  But I think it happened a few days ago and beeped several times with the same pause of a few/several seconds in between the beeps.  It's so quiet that before I've thought I was imagining it.  But this time I was sitting in front of it typing.
There are no pop-up notifications on the screen anything is wrong, such as the 'disconnection' sound when you remove a portable HDD, or your Wi-Fi disconnects.  Nothing to indicate what the beeps mean.  The laptop is working perfectly.  Battery is fully charged.  I can hear the fan turning and changing speed but it's 2:30am here with no outside noise and I can barely hear the fan.  (I assume it would be spinning up like crazy if something were overheating.)
I'm at a loss what it means.  Does anyone know?
I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit if that matters.

Hi,

I am trying to help with a Dell Inspiron 5100.
The computer was running very slow and I've made a bit of progress resolving that. I think it needs some more RAM and I'm not sure if that could be at all related to the following.
The problem now is that after running for few hours, then shutting down, then trying to turn back on:
1. light comes on indicating computer is on
2. the computer makes 2 beeps
3. wait...black screen
4. wait...black screen
5. and so on

This does not happen everytime trying to start the computer so I'm really at a loss. I've read about overheating in this model which would seem to make sense but sometimes this will happen after the computer has been off for a day or so.

At a complete loss now.

Any assistance much appreciated!

Thanks

Answer:Beep beep from Qosmio X770 speakers

To be honest I?ve never heard about such issue and really don't know why this happen but if this issue happens from the first day I think you should contact your local dealer or nearest Toshiba service provider directly and ask for help.

Generally speaking preinstalled recovery image and all installed drivers are tested so I cannot imagine it is some software related issue. Contact service and ask for help. Hey should check this and fix it. valid warranty will cover all costs.

I tried installing an MSI Radeon HD 6450 2GB Pci express x16 video card. Once hooked up, I boot up and computer beeps, from what I can tell 1 or 2 long beeps, 8 short beeps. I was running built in 128m video so I disabled that in the Bios, but that didn't do it.

I noticed the Video card manuf. recommends minimum 400W PS, my rig only has a 300W PS. Would that really affect my upgrade or am I barking up the wrong tree. I don't want to fork over for a new PS unless it' warented. Thanks a bunch.

Answer:2G Graphics card upgrade...Beep! beep!

It's possible you need a new PSU.

The TDP on that card is only 27 Watts and it doesn't require a hook up so I would think your current PSU could maybe support but I wouldn't risk it. There is also the possibility that the motherboard you have isn't providing enough power to the card.

You could try to re-seat the card or clean out the PCI express slot and see if that helps.

My computer has been making this noise for quite some time now. but it would only happen once every few days so it didn't really concern me until now because its happening non stop. The noise is definitely coming from system sounds. I'm not sure if this is related but under device manager there is an unknown device which i cannot account for as i put the computer together and I'm staring in to the case rite now. there is also a yellow icon by teredo tunneling pseudo-interface (i have no idea what that is)lately my computer just seems to be working really hard when idling. the cpu is constantly spiking up to 100% usage and my hard drives seem to constantly be spinning. specscpu: intel core 2 duomobo: abit ab9ram: 1gb ddr2gfx: geforce 9800 gtx+hd: 2 seagate internal drives (1 with os) the other blank for storage. Answer:How to stop the BEEP sound?

I'm not sure you can disable the bios beep. It's there for a reason; the amount of beeps (depending on bios) determines which problem is present. If only one beep on bootup then all's well.

Answer:One short beep, one long beep

Is it possible you are hearing 1 long - one short?
That might indicate a BIOS CHECKSUM error, depending on the brand of BIOS.

You can try a ClearCMOS procedure (CLRTC is the same thing):
Note all your current BIOS settings
Shut down the computer > remove the power cord.
Remove the 3v motherboard battery.
Move the CLRTC jumper from pins 1-2 to 2-3.
Touch a metal part of the case and Press and Hold the reset button for approx. 30 seconds to discharge all power from the board.
Put the CLRTC jumper back on pins 1-2.
Replace the 3v battery > replace the power cord > boot.
Immediately go back into BIOS and reset all your preferred settings. If the CLRTC worked you will need to reset the date and time.

Hi, Today I replaced my old graphics card with a new GeForce 9500GT and also added a new Kingston 2GB Ram Card. I installed both of them then restarted the computer, since then it has only powered on and playing 1 short beep then 1 long beep. I've tryed everything I can think of ranging from taking out everything new and putting it back to before I added the new items to completely taking out all 3 RAM sticks and reseating them. I'm not sure how a brand new unopened 2GB ram stick that fit perfectly and a brand new right out of the box graphics card can cause a problem like this. I've been through the ins and outs of the internet trying to find a solution but nothing has worked. Hoping someone can think of a unique way to fix this or how it could have possibly happened in the first place. I dont buy anything used everything placed inside my computer was/is brand new when it was purchased. Any help/comments on solutions would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Answer:Windows Vista Beep Beep

These "Beep codes", as they're called, are to notify you that the Power On Self Test, or POST, has failed. The number and sequence of beeps is generally to identify which component failed, but without knowing the manufacturer, specifically the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System), it would be difficult to determine what the beep code is identifying as the problem component. For a successful Power On Self Test to take place, the following components must be working:BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) CPU (Central processing Unit) or processorPSU (Power Supply Unit) Video Output device (Graphics card)RAM (Random Access Memory)If any of these fail, your computer will not power on properly, and may exhibit symptoms like what you are describing. Generally, the first step in fixing a computer that refuses to start up is to isolate components that may be causing the problem. One thing to try would be to clean the internals of your computer (Warning: be sure power is turned off to your computer before working on internals!) and to reseat components like RAM, peripheral cards (such as your graphics card), etc.. If you do not feel comfortable doing this, you may think of taking the computer in to a reputable shop- most places that are reputable would not charge or would charge very little to clean and reseat a couple components. Chances are that the problem component is either RAM or Graphics card, these components tend to fail or require service faster than others, and may als... Read more

the BIOS doesn't beep during startup but can beep later such as when i hold three buttons at a time

Answer:My computer does not beep on startup but can beep later

Has it ever beeped at POST?

I've had systems that did, some that didn't (probably because I didn't have the system speaker properly connected).

I tried to start the computer but I am just getting one short beep followed by a long beep.  I think it has to do with the ram.  I tried reseating the ram in different combintations but none of them seem to improve the computer.  edit: oops I put this in the wrong section.  I have a desktop not a notebook   sorry for the confusion

Hello,

Windows XP, Service Pac 3

I just had a "search engine redirect issue" fixed by "Gringo." One thing that is different now is at windows start-up, this laptop makes a BEEP TIC (Higher in frequency than the BEEP) vs the BEEP BEEP sounds I've had for ever. The computer start-up sequence is very slow as it takes minutes before the computer is ready to be used.

During the virus removal, a few times the reboot start-up sounds were BEEP - TIC - BEEP (again the TIC was higher a higher tone and faster than the BEEPs). What do the different sounds mean?

I'll start another thread requesting help to fix my computer problems.

It could be that your Pc is overheating. If it has been with you for a while then dust gets stuck in the heat sink of the procesor and on its fan this makes the fan go slow and that causes the overheating.Ifyou know a little about Pc then switch off the PC at the mains take off the side pannel of the tower and look on the mother board for a small fan, you could put a vacuumm close to the fan and this may take out the dust, if not you will need to take off the fan to clean the heat sink

Hi every1, Pls help me, I've bought 2 new ram cards from crucial.com. Each card is (256MB 144-Pin SoDimm 32MX64 PC133Mhz) equalling 512MB, because i was told the beeps are ram problems. And they both worked fine for a while, no beeps T22 loads up, but now all of a sudden my T22 beeps when i turn it on so i've swapped the ram cards about, still beeps when i switch the laptop on. so i took 1 ram card out and tried it with just 1 card (256MB) in both slots, perfect!! no beeps and loaded up perfectly when i put the card in each slot. When i try the other card with the first card BEEPING again!!!! so i tried that card on its own in each slot and beep again, thats the second time i had to send one back. Also should my Ram cards be PC133Mhz  or PC100Mhz? Whats happening to my memory banks?????Sorry for the long message. Thank you.

I turned my wife's computer on and the screen didn't even flicker and all it does is beep at me.
I tried removing on componant at a time and started it after every removal.
Still beeps at me.
Until I got to the CPU. It stopped beeping at me. Of course, every other piece was out of the puter, so I'm not sure if its supposed to stop beeping or if thats the problem.
Any ideas?

Thanks.

Have a look at http://www.pchell.com/hardware/beep...One long beep means "Power supply, system board, or keyboard problem". Make sure there are no keys stuck on the keyboard and that it is plugged in. Maybe there is something leaning on the keyboard.

Does that mean "one out of three times the wallpaper changes"? Have you looked in your Control Panel under Sounds and see if anything is set that might cause it?

Assuming that there's nothing indicated by the beeps that is wrong then you may have an option in the BIOS to disable startup sounds.

Hi All!I have an "extra" problem with my T410, above the palmrest issue.I bought my laptop about 2 months ago, and it randomly makes a clicking noise, "stops" the HDD for about one second, and right after that, it beeps one time. I think the beep doesn't come from the speakers, neither the PC speaker. It also stops Windows for about one second, I can't move the mouse, and can't type in anything (it buffers the typed text, and writes it out after the stop). This is getting worse in the past two weeks, it makes this noise and stopping about on average every five minutes.Does anyone of you have (near) the same problem? The config:-The HDD is a Seagate Momentus 7200.4, 320GB.-i5-520M(2.4GHz), 4GB RAM, 320GB 7200rpm HD, 14.1in 1440x900 LCD, Intel 5700MHD, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn wireless, WWAN option, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ether, UltraNav, Sec Chip, FPR, Camera, 6c Li-Ion, Win7 Pro 32I've taken a video about the problem:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTvdGkeuMkYIn the vid, the noises can be found on these times:0:501:241:502:032:41Sorry for the length of the vid, but I coldn't cut it...Thanks!

Hello!
I have the following:
Athlon 2700+ XP
Biostar M7nCD Pro mainboard
512MB RAM DIMMs PC2700 (I believe) x2 (two sticks) (Kingston and Crucial)
Two WD HDDs (250GB each)
Sony DVD+/-R DL burner
WinXP Professional
450w PSU
GeForce 4400ti vid card

I usually leave my PC on for long lengths of time (2-4 weeks at a time), and last night I awoke to my PC making long beeping noises, so when I got up and checked on it it acted like it was shutdown (no lights on case, and monitor light was amber/yellow), but the beeps were still going on... so I shut down the power going to the case and went back to bed. Later today when I got home from work I flipped on my PC and before the monitor even popped on I heard the beep again.. so I waited .. another beep... and no POST... and the beeping continued... (long beep over and over)

So I yanked my master HDD (along with my burner and my video card) out of it and put it into my wife's PC (where I am now), so I could come and ask you all what you thought it was, but before running straight here I stopped by Biostar's site and various other motherboard sites to see what the beeping could mean.
I read that a series of siren-like beeps (hi/low beeps) meant there was something wrong with my heatsink/CPU, and a long beep over and over means that RAM is bad (I guess that is what I read), so here is what I did...

For good measure: I first removed the CMOS jumper from 1-2 and put it on 2-3 for 5 seconds (Biostar said... Read more

Answer:PC wont POST... will just sit there and beep.

to start out, its not the PSU. A dead PSU will give you nothing at all, at least in my experience.

You're correct in thinking that 5 seconds is short to clear CMOS, i usually put the jumper in clear position and remove the battery for at least 30 seconds-- but it seems you've tried that too.

Have you tried with only 1 stick of RAM (alternate, in case one is the culprit)? Can you get your hands on another stick of DDR RAM that will fit just for testing purposes?

I wouldnt imagine it was a fried CPU, though you might want to pull the heatsink off to check.

Lets keep troubleshooting so we can try to fix this, but keep in mind that Biostar has not had a great name for a number of years now, and I have heard quite a few stories of their Motherboards crappin out.

Hi there.

Some of you might be trying W8 / W8.1 guests using VMWARE -- on a laptop you
might find you get an annoying BEEP from the PC speaker when powering on /
starting up one of these Guests.

To stop this simply add this line into the .vmx configuration file

mks.noBeep = "TRUE"

(I've posted this in W7 forum too just in case people don't see this
post).

Dang, that is an old mobo. Anyhow, do you have a working CPU and RAM (if using SIMMs must be in pairs) connected as well?
If you are positive the other parts are in working condition then the mobo could be dead especially if you have the case speaker connected to it properly yet no beeps come out (could be CPU too).
Also the PSU is working right? Can you check to see if you are getting power to the case or at least the PSU fan is working?

Hi,

Ive got another laptop to have a look at as he spilt beer over it, i told him that there might not much can be done, as he has tried to turn it on already.

Ive taken it all apart and made sure it was all dried out, didn't actually notice any dampness although there was a distinct smell of stale beer.

After doing this ive tried to turn it on, power button doesn't work, but when you open the laptop lid by about 1 inch they system begins to power up, screen come on briefly as in 1sec maybe less, the BIOS emits a beep then the laptop shuts down.

Any ideas on how i can make it work again or what to do?

Answer:XP wont boot, single beep

Cleaning would be easy if access was easy. I often clean electronic components with lemon juice and finish off with distilled water, both applied with a medium stiff bristle artist's brush. Beer and sweet sodas dry as a gummy residue, lemon juice cuts that pretty well. Water removes the juice. Allow plenty of time for drying or use a vacuum chamber to expedite.

I have never dismantled a keypad on a laptop for cleaning but that may well be your challenge.

Hi. Story time (might help locate the problem). A little over a week ago i upgraded to windows 10 from 7. All was good. No complains. Two days ago I found an old HDD I havent used for 4 years, just wanted to see what I had stored on it. Now the problem bigins. For some reason I had to reboot the PC (dont remember why), when it booted up (with hdd connected) i got a error message wich said "inaccassible_boot_device". It wouldnt go past this message so I had to reinstall windows 7 (I disconnected the external HDD ofc). Wich went well. Now i had one millions updates to download and install, this took some hours of course. All is still good. Surfed the web, had fun. Then The night came and I turned off my computer. The next day came and it never booted again..

It starts up, fans working, hearing sound from HDD, but no beep and boot.

The PC is a Alienware x51 (2012) (specs: http://www.cnet.com/products/alienware-x51-desktop/)
All original parts.

I have ofcourse tried a little troubleshooting myself before I turned to the forums.
What I have done:
Removed the RAMs: Result: Continious beeping wich means MoBo OK?
Removed GPU, HDD and everything except keyboard, connected hdmi to the onboard mobo. No result.
Resetted CMOS. No result.
Tried the trick where you feel if the CPU is heating up. It does. So that is working.
Switched the RAMs around, place, with just one etc. No work. I have a old RAM wich i tested (dont know if it works it self) but that didnt work either.

I have a computer that I am putting together and when I put in one power supply the cpu fan turns on by itself but no bios beep and no display on the monitor, when i put another power supply in and push the power button nothing happens, the power switch cable is in the right spot. I have the motherboard out of the case with just the cpu/ram/power supply hooked up to it, the mobo is lying on the static sheet so there is no possibility of it grounding out. I dont know what the hell is wrong. The mobo is a chaintech 7KJD, does anyone know if there is a special jumper that is protecting the CMOS that I am not seeing?

Firsly, "static sheets" can be very conductive. Thats how they equalise/dissipate static.

They are NOT an insulator in many cases!

Hi I just installed some new ram on my computer going from 1gb (2x512mb) to 2gb (an extra 2x512mb). The memory is all Geil 512mb PC2-5300. I have tried every combination I can think of yet whenever I have the new memory installed the computer wont start and there will just be a continuous beep from my motherboard (ASUS P5nd2 -SLI). I have sent the new memory back however it was sent back to me telling me it was fine!

Does anyone have any suggestions? I would really appreciate it, thank you!

Answer:Installed new ram, wont start, continuous beep

Post motherboard specs. You may need to adjust the memory timings to get it to work.

Check the motherboard manufacturer's combatibility list. Some RAM will not work, or will have problems with certain motherboards.

You could have a bad RAM slot on the motherboard.

You will need to test each stick one at a time in the same slot, to make certain they will all work with the board.

Are you absolutely certain all 4 sticks are exactly the same ?

Since the old pair works, trade them out for the new pair. If the are good, and exactly the same as the old pair, they should work in the old memory slots. If they do, move them to the (previously unused) memory channel and see if the new memory will work in the new channel. if they do, then the issue is not the new memory, but using more than 2 sticks at the same time.

Then focus on getting 3 sticks to play nice.

At some point things will stop working, and indicate the direction of the problem.

Hi guys!

First of all, I'm new here. I signed up to this forum because of an issue with my little brothers's PC. I've found some threads about the issue but I wasn't able to solve it with the given information.

So, my brother is just playing a game and all of a sudden his PC gives a long beep, and starts rebooting. Unfortunatly after this incident the pc won't start up at all, it's just giving this never ending beep.

knowing that he has an Asus p5n-mx MoBo and an Award BIOS I starten looking for answeres.
The error should indicate that there is an issue with the installed RAM. So I removed it and replaced it with a spare strip. But that didn't solve the problem. So I took out the Videocard and tried to use the onboard chipset to boot up. Still got the continuous beep. I removed all the RAM and tried to boot up. The result of that the 1 long beep and 2 short beeps error code as repeating loop. Now I am not sure if that is the indication for a not properly installed VGA card but it said so in the beep-code list.

Pc specs:
Asus p5n-mx motherboard
Award BIOS
Intel duo core E7300 2,66Ghz
Corsair 1024 MB DDR2 667Mhz RAM (2x)
320 GB 7200 RPMWestern digital HDD
ASUS EN9400GT 512MB VGA card
Windows XP Home Edition
It would be great if you guys could help out with this one!

Before you do anything else reseat your RAM modules. If this doesn't fix it go back to basics - disconnect everything from your mobo except graphics card, power and RAM does it boot the monitor on start up? If not and you only have 1 ram module fitted beg or borrow another and try that - if you have 2 ram modules try them one at a time on their own. Post back when done and adviseRgds

Hey all i need some help... Ill take it from the top

I have an Asus a8n-e mobo on which the chip fan died rescently, i ran the computer for awhile without the fan and it looked like it worked fine, temps seemd fine in Asus Probe and in bios. I tried to switch the fan for a working one from an older mobo but it didnt fit and now the computer wont boot any more. It POSTs and then freezes just when the chip fan warning comes on, or if i enter bios it freezes a few secs after i get in. When i reboot i get the same thing OR i get some weird beep codes, 2 short 2 long 2 short and after awhile another, 2 short 3 long, and i cant find an answer for theese codes. I have tried to run it from out of the case with only psu, mobo, cpu, ram and switching slots on the ram sticks but no change.
So is the mobo the issue? Is there a way to test just the mobo? I cant see any problems on the mobo, chip doesnt look burnt (dunno really how it would look tho) but there is some thermal paste on it... any suggestions on this?

If the fan on your heatsink on your CPU died, your CPU would probably be overheating and switching itself of. Either that or it died.
If you mean the one on the NB, it could also be overheating. If you don't have a fan that fits, you could either buy a new one that does or make a fanduct out of pieces of plastic or cardboard.

ok, heres my problem, at first games would crash often, then i couldnt even install games, saying a cabnit file is corrupt, or there is a problem with my networking. I took my comp into a shop, they said i needed a new operating system, so i bought windows vista premium 64bit installed it. First I installed wow which worked, then I had to download the patches, after downloading they wouldnt install, saying the download was corrupt, or there were too many errors in wow to reinstall it. I did a chkdsk in the command propmt, says theres nothing wrong with my hard drive, I have dual channel memory, so I bought 2 new sticks of 1g ram to replace them thinking that could be the problem. When i put the new ram in started the comp. it wouldnt boot, just a black screen and gave me the boot code of 1 long beep followed by 2 short over and over. I think that means a bad video card, i took it out, put it back in, same thing, so i used one from a different computer, same thing. does any one know what could be wrong with my comp? its like 3 months old.

Answer:1 long beep 2 short, comp. wont start

Not all Ram cards are compatible.

If you remove the new ram cards does it work?
Or if you just use the new Ram cards, and take out the old ones, does it work ?

I'd say, more likely Ram issue

You may also want to post all your Hardware system specs, including the new ram specs

Tonight my computer died, RIP. The power went out for about an hour and when it came back on my computer wouldnt post, didnt beep, but all the fans start up fine. specs:

e6600 - big typhoon
p5b
2x1gb patriot ddr2 pc2-850
bunch of seagate satas
7900gs
thermaltake 430w

ths computer has been working great for about 10 months, and now tonight it doesnt work. i'm sort of perplexed, as i've got it on a surge protector (not one with a connected devices warranty though).

I have tried pulling out cmos battery - i then used the reset jumper as per the manual, no dice. i tried messing with the ram sticks, nothing. when i pull the 2 sticks out the computer beeps (it has a great beat to it , but i digress) I pulled the thing apart and rebuilt it, no dice.

I've read around, people have had the same symptoms, but noone has really produced a solution. I dont have any other ram , cpu or mobo to test with, which is too bad. I hope it's not the ram, cause it cost much more then the mobo.
any ideas or clues ??
edit - the system used to double-post , where it'd turn n, and off quickly when i started it up, but now it doesnt do that, it just spins up, powers on, but nothing happens.
Cheers!

Question: Beeeep, beep beep

I just got new asus AM2 mobo and I'm getting beeps on start. 1 long beep and two short. Somewhere I found it is related to video card. I'm not sure if that's true, but I know videocard is functional and inserted correctly.
The mobo has it's own video, so I tried using only that, same thing. It just doesn't seem to make sense.

Answer:Beeeep, beep beep

One long two short looks like a video issue, as you said. You say it is also happening when you remove the graphics card and try to boot up with the onboard graphics?

Here's what I'd do:

Remove the motherboard from the case and set it on a box beside your case. Next, reset cmos (check your manual to find the cmos jumper pins).

Remove everything from the motherboard except:

cpu with heatsink/fan
one stick of ram
power supply connections to the motherboard (should be two)
connect the case's speaker to the motherboard

Then use a screwdriver to quickly touch (short) the two pins that usually connect to your case's power on switch.

See what kind of beeps you get.

If you still get the beeps, my guess is your need to RMA the board, but please post your system's full specs (including your power supply specs)

Good luck!

Ok, the other day my girlfriends brother gave me a Compaq Presario V2000 laptop. He said he couldn't get windows to boot up, all it did was start to load and after a few seconds it would start running CHKDSK with a blue screen, but once it got to step 3 it would say it was complete, but wouldn't go any further or boot windows up.

So yesterday I decided to mess with it, and it did what he said it did. So I tried to booted it into SAFEMODE and it wouldn't. So I restarted it and pressed ESC and ran a Hard Drive Self Test and got an 07 FAIL. After that I restarted it, and all I got was a black screen then it made a loud BEEP sound fallowed by a REALLY LOUD BEEP, then it did nothing.

Does anyone know what the problem is?

Thanks!

Answer:Beep, Beep thats all folks

Probably a bad harddrive.

Youd better hope they had their information backed up...

What you can try is hooking it up to another PC as slave and see if you can get any data off of it, but they will likely need a new harddrive and OS.

I just got a strange reaction from my pc. It was working fine last night, I went to start, turn off computer, shut down and went to bed. I got up this morning and I saw a notice on the screen (PC did not shut down during the night) It said there was a change to the global template for microsoft word and did I want to save changes so I said no and the pc shut down. Later on I tried to call up my key logger and heard a beeping noise from within my pc. I paid it no attention and went on the rest of the day working. I was using Quicken later on and noticed that when I tried to view certain graphs they seemed to be "fluttering" (The page seemed to go up and down rapidly on its own) I closed it and ran Avast antivirus scan. I tried to activate it and got an error message that said it ran into some kind of runtime error (I think) I finly got it started, ran a scan and came up empty of viruses. Then Avast kept shutting itself off. I emptied my waste basket, went to internet options, deleted all files and history (Including online content) then cleared all in Firefox. Next I went to start, run msconfig, start up disable all, restart, back to start, run, msconfig, enable all, reboot and everything seems to be fine now. Can anyone tell me what this may have or still is?

Answer:to beep or not to beep(that is the question)

Hi SLAYER. Although I've read that some motherboards don't have a POST beep, I personally haven't come across one. The most likely cause of no beep is that there isn't a connection between the case speaker and the motherboard. Possible causes that immediately come to mind are broken wire or the speaker connector doesn't match the motherboard header pins - possible one is wired for 3 pins and the other for 2 pins. If the motherboard connection is correct, remove the socket from the header and touch a 1.5V battery to the connector. You should get a distinct clicking from the speaker.

Anyone know what it means if you get a long beep followed by two short beeps when you boot up?  When this happens the screen is blank; it never continues booting; no Windows XP logo, etc.  It continues beeping like this until I hold the power button down until it shuts down.  Then, I can restart it, and it boots up, seeminly without issue.  This happens when I reboot intentionally (after windows updates or new software installs, etc.) as well as after it periodically locks up.  I suspect that the problem with it locking up is related to this--I don't consider a system lockup to EVER be acceptable, but I don't have time to get mad about it right now. This is a z61m.

Answer:Beeeeeeeep, beep beep

post your version of bios here. every bios manufacturer has their own beep codes which surely sujjests that the system has a problem

most of the time I start my computer I get five beeps pause of few seconds and then 2 beeps. Initially, it was five beeps on;y but the last two have been started recently. what is it about? how can I solve this problem?

Answer:5 beep pause 2 beep

The beep sequence refers to the CMOS battery - or the clock chip.  Replace the reserve (CMOS) battery -- it's usually a CR-2032 button cell.  If you need details, post the model number (i.e., Inspiron N5110, XPS 9333, etc.).

Hello

After over one year of using a Albatron px845pev mainboard it just quit working.

The screen saver was locked up so I rebooted.

On reboot the keyboard lights would not come on or will the intial black screen come on. (the on that checks the ide drives and displays the system info)

Normally after I turn computer on I hear a little BEEP. I do not hear this any more.

The first thing I did was clean cpu HS/Fan and reapply a thin coat of heat paste.

After this computer booted and I heard the little BEEP, black screen comes up but still no keyboard use.

Reboot the system and I now cannot get the little BEEP from the mainboard or the initial black startup screen.

I have cleaned the system of all dust and reset the CMOS.
Have cleaned the Video card fan/hs.

I have checked all connections and they are secure.

I have removed the BATT and unplugged the power supply for over an hour.

I tried to test the power supply voltages but I get no readings. (the PS fan does not run when unplugged from everything, maybe zero output is normal?)
Yes the PS is plugged into the wall just not the MOBO drives, vidcard etc...

How exactly do I check my power supply?

About 1 week ago I installed 1 more 512m pc3500 ram. But had no problems.

If you have ANY ideas please please post them here.

If you have a series of possible fixes PLEASE post them all.

I am getting very desperate.

Answer:1 yr old computer Locked up and now wont boot. Do not hear the MOBO BEEP at startup.

Sounds like a bad power supply.
If the ATX is not plugged into your motherboard, or an ATX test, it will not boot up.
Nothing will work.
It will react just the same as if your motherboard was grounded to your case.

Bad power supply or you do not have enough voltage to power your components.
Try unpluging a CD ROM or a few fans to check to see if you need to upgrade to a higher wattage.

A power supply tester (that works) costs about $20 at www.newegg.com

I recently built a computer loaded windows 10 onto it and everything was fine. I installed a game on steam to benchmark and within 5 minutes the computer completely turned off. I tried to turn the computer back on and got nothing so i took it apart to see if i could notice anything wrong and i found nothing. I then put it back together and got a beep code(1 long 3 short) which indicates with my motherboard a video card error. So i figured the video card was dead had it tested in a friends computer it worked fine tried it in mine again and got nothing. I've also tested it in both PCI-E slots and both give no power at all to the GPU and the fans on the GPU dont spin at all but everything else seems fine. I have no idea where to go from here, Is it a bad motherboard or bad PSU? Also note the GPU was initially my friends but he upgraded to a new one and gave me his old one. my dell xps laptop is making four beep sounds continuously and then pause and then it again starts making beep sound four times and then pause again and this happens continuously until i power down my system.the screen is also blank, nothing is being displayed on the screen and even the fan seems to be running vary fast.what could be the problem please help me.

Answer:dell xps l502x laptop makes 4 beep sounds and wont startup

Hi Raj,
4 beeps is the indication of memory failure. Please reseat the memory & check. If the issue persists, place one memory at a time and check. Try both the memory modules in both the slots. This will help us to isolate which memory slot or memory is causing the issue.

So I could use some help here. I have several s50 8183 here at my office and most of them suddenly had the same problem (not at the same time but for example they worked fine one day then poof dead). I turn on the power, I get a blank screen, but not no signal its just black then goes to sleep. All the while it has the fans going insanly fast and the harddrive light is flashing fast as well as if to indicate its trying to read it. I have already tried removing to base components and starting with just that. I have tried replacing the battery on the MB as was sugested somewhere else. That has not helped either. Any help would be great! Thanks in advance.

I have a DELL XPS laptop that makes beeping sounds and the screen is still black after I pressed the power button.
It makes 5 beeping sounds per interval and goes on until it shuts itself down. What should I do and who should I contact to help me fix my laptop?

Answer:My Laptop Makes Beep sound when I press power button and it wont Start

Hi AhLong
Thanks for writing to us.
5 beeps usually means CMOS failure, now it could be the battery failure or the motherboard failure. If your system is under warranty we can get it repaired or else you can check with a local Dell authorized repair center and get it checked.
You can try another CMOS battery if available.
Do provide us your system tag#, email address and name via private message.

My laptop is Dell Inspiron 15 5547.

4GB Memory
1TB Hard Drive
Intel Core I7 (Dont know what generation).

It happens when i open the laptop and fix the wire problem in WLAN. So I detached the parts in order...

Battery
Hard Drive
2x 2GB Memory Card
Fan
Keyboard
Monitor

The reason i detached the parts because the wire of WLAN runs thru the monitor and i cant get thru to fix it unless i remove the monitor. Now when i put all the parts back in the descending order, i just got a beep and i got no display it just blank, I listen very carefully and got 4 beeps fading. Can you help me? Don't know what to do.

Answer:Making Beep sound 4 times repeatedly, when I press power button and it wont Start

4 beep sound may indicate a Ram failure according to source : www.dell.com/.../en
Try and reseat the RAMs. Or try to use 1 RAM to check which RAM is having faulty.
Hope this helps.

I have Inspiron N5010 suddenly makes continuous Beep sound when press power on with black screen and not Start

Answer:My inspiron 5010 makes continuous beep sound when I press power button and it wont Start

If it's a continuous single beep, it means the mainboard is bad.  If it's some other pattern such as four beeps - pause - four, etc., post the sequence and someone can help you interpret the error.
