Text document error: make sure a disk is in the drive you specified

Question: Text document error: make sure a disk is in the drive you specified

I wrote this thread in "performance and maintenance section" so I had to create another one here. Sorry.

I have a text file on my portable hard disk (WD 250 GB) named urgenttttttttttt.txt
you would have already assumed how important this file would be and it is updated daily. The size of the file is 545 kb which is HUGE for a notepad. I opened the file 3 days ago and it gives me an error:

"cannot open the K:\Mainnnnnnnnnnn\usb\urgenttttttttttt.txt file
make sure a disk is in the drive you specified"

There are many text documents in my hard disk and many even in the same folder but every document is fine but there is a problem in this particular file. I recovered this file using shadow explorer but the recovered file is 518kb in size and many new things i wrote in the notepad are GONE. I have some private text in the document or i would have uploaded it on some site for you. I am unable to copy or move this file to other folders.

There is another error related to this, I deleted an iso file that was in the same portable hard disk by mistake (even from recycle bin) and tried to recover it using "disk digger" (best recovery software for huge files!!). But I get an error which I have never seen before..

"There was an error while reading from the disk: Data error (Cyclic Redundancy error). How would you like to proceed" and no option works out.

I searched google for this error and i came to know that it comes from a bad spot on the hard drive and the bad spot would be because of the same urgenttttttttttt.txt file. Please Help.

Preferred Solution: Text document error: make sure a disk is in the drive you specified

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Text document error: make sure a disk is in the drive you specified

I assume that you were trying to read the file directly from the external drive. What happens if you copy the file to an internal drive first? If Explorer won't let you copy, try dropping to a command prompt (Win+R, run cmd.exe) and running "xcopy K:\Mainnnnnnnnnnn\usb\urgenttttttttttt.txt c:\ /C". Replace c:\ with another destination if you wish. The /C switch tells it to ignore errors.

Hello Please be patient I know enough about computers but not the terms or anything. I had vista at first then got a virus long story short my uncle removed everything then put XP back on. I dont really understand why its important for a drive to be a certain letter my hard drive H the removeanle disk is C Im working from home and was told I need my internet explorer and certain things on my C drive. First off what is the difference and is this possible Ive been up for hours looking but I am not sure and cant get a hold of my uncle. Please let me know what needs to be done. Thank you all in advance.

Answer:How to make my to make my C which says removeable disk to my H drive?

It's easy to change the removable drive's drive letter name.

Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Managment

Right-click the removable drive's graph and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths" and change the letter.

Do not change the drive letter of your boot drive. If you do, none of your programs will work, your computer may not even boot, and you'll be reinstalling XP all over again.

The time to deal with the boot drive not being C: was before/during the installation. Now it's too late, unless you want to reinstall. It's inconvenient and annoying, but almost everything will work just fine. I've read about some programs not working, but have never seen it first-hand. It's possible it never happens, and the people that are saying this are just repeating some kind of "urban myth".

If you HAVE to change the boot drive, you'll need to reinstall XP.

Hello to all of you. This is my first post. I hope that this is the appropriate forum for this particular problem that I have.
This morning I accidentally forgot to restore some text to a Rich Text Document (rtd) before closing it; as a consequence I lost that portion of text (which is a portion that I didn't have the luxury of losing). Is there a way for me to regain that portion of text after the fact of having lost it? (I haven't been able to figure out a way to do it.) If someone can provide me with instructions as to how I can do that I would appreciate it. And if it isn't possible that I can do that then I would appreciate someone confirming it for me so that I can just let it go and move on to my next fiasco.

For the last few days I have been experiencing a problem. Whenever I open a Text Document my Floppy Drive keeps scanning. I don't have any Floppy Disk in the drive and it scans for about 10 seconds. I have Norton Internet Security 2004 installed and I think it may be that the AntiVirus keeps scanning the Floppy Drive. I am not sure on how to disable scanning the Floppy Drive and if someone knows how to do it could you please instruct me on how to disable it. If there are any other ways to help me with this problem could you please post some suggestions.
Thank You!

I assumed that the Disk numbers shown under Disk Management would show up as Drive C= Disk 0, Drive D= Disk 1 and Drive E would = Disk 2. I have the main system drive C and two storage drives D&E. When I went into the installation of a dual boot system with Ubuntu partitioned on the Drive C, it came out, under the Terminal in Ubuntu as sdb1 instead of what I expected to be sda. Going back to Windows 7, sure enough, Drive E= Disk 0, Drive C= Disk 1 and Drive D= Disk 2. I was trying to load the Grub boot loader in the sda drive, not the sdb drive. My workaround was to disable Drive E which caused Drive C to indicate Disk 0 in Windows and drive sda in Ubuntu. I loaded my Grub2 boot loader into sda and it all worked out fine. My dual boot works good, but reconnecting Drive E back, made it go back to Disk 0 under Disk Management. Why doesn't the system recognize Drive C as Disk 0?

Answer:How to make drive C as Disk 0

It is normally determined by which mobo port you use, but can also vary as discussed here: OS disk not disk 0 - Windows 7 Help Forums

If you want to post back a screenshot of Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image we can look it over for you. But since your using GRUB to manage the boot, the normal concerns would not apply: the System Active partition booting Windows should be first in order to avoid during repairs or reinstall derailing the boot files to a preceding Primary partition - which can also be achieved if necessary by converting preceding Primary to Logical partitions which cannot receive boot files.

This sounds straight forward, but I can not figure this out I am new to this. I have a Etower 500 MHz with 192 mb's of memory and 4 gig hard drive. I used partition magic 3.5 to partition the drive inorder to try and install DOS and win98 and maybe linux. I am following the instructions from this web site here>> I am using the disks that I made from downloading from this site referring to REUEL Boot disk this disk took me through the entire process. It all went great until I rebooted and I keep getting Non-System disk or disk error I have no disk's in the drives. I even installed win98 and all it did was go straight to windows. With in windows I could see the drives I partitioned all of them except the one that windows was actually on. I have done this again and again trying to see if I did anything wrong. Anybody know what is wrong?
Also can anyone tell me how to get free dos I can not figure out what files to download. The one that I am trying to install now is suppose to be mini dos 6.22. I am really new to dos so I am doing a lot of guessing.

I have made a USB install drive using my OEM copy of Windows 7 64 bit. I plan to install about 5-7 of the same exact OS (64 bit Pro) in the next 2 months. I used it for the first build but used the disk for the second and noticed the product ID# is different before activation and after. I wonder if it's possible to use this USB install key to install the rest of the systems I'm building. It would sure be nicer o carry around with me. I could just try, but thought there may be someone who would know. Thanks.

Answer:Is this possible? OEM disk to make USB install drive

I'm not sure I follow you. Using a USB flash drive to install is the same as using a disc. You can use either to install the OS over and over again - you just have to use different keys (unless this is a volume license version).

Read 3.5" floppy txt files (FAT) on Windows 7 NTFS

Answer:3.5 drive does not recognize (FAT) formatted disk text file

"As far as old 3.5" drive misalignment, it is still reading all my old 3.5" disks."The read head is the same as the write head so that is why it can still read the disks it's writing, even though the track is slightly offset.1. yes, mailing the files would be an easy way.2. The problem is not how old the floppies are, the problem is the heads from your old drive are out of alignment and not matching up with the heads in the new drive. This won't work. You are still writing to the floppies using your old drive, it doesn't matter if the floppies are new or old.3. Yes, you can transfer data over a serial cable.4. It's not the problem with the computer, it's the fact that the heads are misaligned. Installing a new drive in an old computer isn't going to work. If your new USB drive can't read the floppy, then another new drive isn't going to able to read them either. If I may also offer a bit of advice, floppy disks are very unreliable as you are experiencing, and they are a dying format. You should not continue writing your valuable data to new ones. Once you retrieve the data, I would highly suggest storing in on your hard drive as well as making a backup copy on CD or DVD.

I just bought a used HP 6910p and it came with the 'original' OS, etc. CDs (or so I thought).
I wanted to do a clean XP Install and when I start to load from the CD it tells me it cannot find a hard drive.
It looks like the XP CD does not have the SATA drivers on it.
I can boot the system from the HD - can I 'create' a XP install CD from the HD with all the correct drivers, etc. on it?

If there is a step-by-step doc or instructions on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!!

I have this idea however I don't know if you can do it. What i want to do is to make my Hard Disk Drive as my My Music folder: Whenever you click or go into My Music, it will act as a shortcut and head straight to the Hard Disk Drive. The reason for this is so I have a Hard Disk Drive full of music while my original HDD has all the other stuff. Also My Music is a special windows folder so I would like to keep that if possible when doing this. I hope anyone can answer this question. Thank you.

While poking around my disk management I found that I have a RECOVERY section of the hard drive. It is grayed out and I cannot see the files in it. When I got my Dell inspiron 17r n7110 from best buy they had lost the data from the box, so when ever I needed help I went to dell since I was in warranty. Now that I am out of warranty I have to go to 7Forums which is better. Any how getting back to RECOVERY, which must be the program files in case I get into trouble. It must have the OS and all of the drivers for the dell system files. So I think(which is dangerous for me) I have to make a bootable disk with this recovery data on it. I noticed from prior post that the s/n of the os is on the bottom of laptop.

So far am I correct in my assumptions.

I want replace my current hdd with a ssd and all I have to do is put the new drive and place the disk in the drive and go, and Voila I have the system on the new disk.

The only question I have is how do I make a bootable disk of the recovery, since it is greyed out (so am I) I do not know how so I need a step by step how to do this!!

I know you guys have the secret formula for this, can you help me out

My usb opticle drive went south and I hardly ever use it so I figured this out and thought it might help someone else. First you need a 1GB SD card or thumb drive and a usb hard drive.Next go into your bios setup and move all usb and card slots to the top of the boot order under "Boot" menu.Next google and download the free Macrium Refex Backup software.Next follow these instructions. process with backup takes about half an hour and no high tech knowledge required. It works great and rescue SD boots right up from the SD card slot on the front. Make your Macrium image backups on a usb hard drive.  This can be moved to a new hard drive if the old one fails and it will have an exact image of the original.

I recently moved my computer to a new office space and had to disconnect my external hard drive, which is a Western Digital My Book WD250. Upon reconnnecting it to the computer, Windows XP suddenly does not recognize the drive. The drive does not appear on "My Computer" nor do any of my links to the drive or shortcuts appear.

When I click on my shortcuts I receive the following message:

I've researched numerous solutions and one of them worked. I removed all of the USB cables from the computer and hard drive, and then in exact sequence connected the power to the My Book, connnected the USB cable to the computer and re-booted. Hello, I have 4 hard disk drives in my system, 3 Seagate (2 320GB, 1TB) and 1 Western Digital (1 160GB). One of the drives (the 160gb) is running very hot constantly (60C on average) and is also labeled as a "System" drive in Disk Management because it was once my original boot drive years ago. I want to take this drive offline because I fear it will eventually die and leave me to unable access Windows 7 without mucking with something.

I want to remove that from the drive and put it on the Boot drive, which is one of the 320GB drives but I also want to make C: (my OS drive) disk 0 but it is disk 1. I cannot format H: (the 160gb WD) yet there is nothing else but an emaciated/gutted XP install with several files which I cannot remove at any cost.

What would I have to do to get myself in working order to my specifics?

The backup utility in Windows XP (NTBACKUP) does not write to optical media (CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs) by default. Here are your options:1) Back up to an external hard drive2) Use Firestreamer to have your DVD burner emulate a tape drive (because that's exactly what NTBACKUP supports best: tape, which I'll bet less than 0.00001% of consumers will ever use on a PC).3) Use another program to back up your computer.#1 would be your best option.  Less hassle in the long run.  Besides, do you really want to restore from 12 DVDs?  DVDs only hold 4.5 GB of data, and you've got 40 GB of data filled up on your C drive.

So i've been looking around for a long time and I cannot seem to find a fix. I have a few text documents that held important information for me and one day after getting a virus they either went corrupt or something else. Below is a screnshot of said documents.

I have tried:

- Restoring to a previous version
- System Restore
- I downloaded a Hex Editor that didn't work so I gave up on that.

Any thoughts?

Every time I turn my computer on, when it gets to the desktop, this "windows - no disk" error pops up. I have to click it off about 5-6 times before it keeps from coming back. After I click it off, often the system will lock-up and I have to reset (reboot).

very frustrated.
any help would be appreciated.

Hello everyone and thanks for your time.
I have been using Windows 7 for a long time and have gotten used to all the keys, mouse movements etc for opening stuff. Recently I bought a new Laptop with same version of Windows installed (Ultimate). However, when I right click the Desktop, the context menu of New does not show the option to Create a New Text Document. This is proving to be a real pain in the back . I have Notepad installed (by Default as it should be), and double-clicking *.txt files opens it, but the shortcut is nowhere to be seen. Please tell me why this is so and the easiest and most painless way (preferably without the need to Install something e.g. Registry Entry or Portable Program/Single *.exe Program would be better) to do it.

Answer:How to Create a New Text Document ?

Hello Forz,

You might see if using step 10 in the tutorial below will be able to restore New -> "Text Document" for you.New Context Menu - Remove & Restore Default Menu Items
If it doesn't, then download and merge the .reg file for the listed txt option in the tutorial below to restore it's default associations.Default File Type Associations - Restore
Hope this helps,

Hi JoltFreak -

Welcome back to TSF.

That is a very good question. I tried it myself and it does not work. I have never used the right-click on the desktop. But I will try to find out -and get back to you - or someone who knows the answer will post and solve this.

In the interim, to bring a new Notepad up - click on start; then type Note; press enter.

Not long ago, I was able to open up Documents, type a word in the search bar, and any document containing that word within the text would come up. Recently it only brings up documents with said word in the title. It'll bring up Notepad (.txt, I think) files containing the word within, but not Wordpad, which I use almost exclusively. I've tried changing settings and everything I could think of. I could open every single one and click the binoculars that let me search within the opened doc, but I got a job...

Any solutions?

Thanks so much!

Answer:Can't search for text within document

Please check your search setting in explore (I assume that's the search engine)? If not what software are you opening to search with?

In explorer initiate a search & then stop it. Click Search options & check your settings there: -

This should search for document with that word in the title & text.

Question: Open Document Text

I need to open 'Open Document Text' documents in Word 2002. These have been received prepared in the Open Office WRITER programme, part of the Open Office Suite. Any ideas, please?

Answer:Open Document Text

I don't use OpenOffice myself so I could be wrong but I don't think that MS Word can open OpenOffice Write documents if they have been saved in its native format. You could ask the person who sent you the documents to save them in Word format from the File Save As dialogue and choose MS Word (.doc) in the File Type drop down box. Of course, since is free for personal use you could download it click here and install it on your own PC. If you choose a custom install you can install just the Writer if that's all you need.

The only troubleshooting help I got was to run a disk check upon startup to check for errors, but I have tried twice now and the disk check freezes at 55 percent!

The freezes occurred first while defragmenting and I believe this happened after I deleted (without uninstalling, my mistake) a large file group (Steam, an online gaming prog that runs upon startup for things like HL2.)
I am not sure how this could have effected things, but that was the last significant thing I remember donig before noticing this. I have not downloaded any drivers recently.

My Hp pavillion pc started crashing a lot recently and recovery didn't work so I told was advised to get a new hard disk which I did but now I keep getting the above error. I've been into the bios and all seems to be booting from the correct drive
The first time I tried the hp recovery disk it started to work but when it came to reinstalling the software it stayed on 0% for long so I switched off. Maybe that was a mistake. I've run a diagnostics test all passed the test but at the end it said testing: Boot path, error code BIOHD-3.

I tried putting the old drive back in and it was the same as before. But I was still able to go online, albeit until it crashed again.
HP want more money to help even though I brought the recovery discs they suggested.

I really hope someone can help, I've been told there needs be A partition before the software can be installed.

Sorry if the wording is a bit messed up, I am writting this from a mobile.

Thanks in advance,

Answer:Non-system disk or disk error with new hard drive

Have you tried to run the recovery disks again? They should automatically put a partition on the hard drive.

If it still doesn't work then there's usually one of two different possibilities:
- bad recovery disks
- other bad hardware in the system

I'd suggest running these free bootable diagnostics first: Initial Hardware Diagnostics
Then, if those tests pass, contact HP to return the defective recovery disks and get a new set.

Error: "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk4\DR5"

The situation is this. I have an old program that came entirely on CDs. You can load the program on your hard drive, but it's constantly asking you to insert CD's to read portions of the program. I had a computer that I got it to work on, by loading the program on the Hard drive, and then fooled it into reading a flash drive that has all the content of the extra 7 disks.

I just got a new computer, and that solution is not working. The software won't recognize the flash drive no matter which USB slot I put it in. The software is no longer supported. It runs, but only if I insert the CDs. No matter where I put the
disk, it's not recognized, even if I change the drive letter to what the initial installation came from.

I know it's an odd question, but it's driving me nuts.

Answer:Error Message: There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk in

There is a utility from Microsoft that allows you to mount iso's as virtual dc roms, dvd, roms ect. it can be downloaded from Virtual CD-Rom. If you need to create iso's from the disks themselves try ImgBurn just be sure to uncheck any added software it wants to install including conduit.

I was advised by a computer tech to buy a new hard drive because of issues I had with my HP pavillion s3330.
After installing I got a non-system disk error message.
After going into the BIOS to make sure it was booting my HP recovery cd from the the right drive, I ran a diagnostics test and after finding no problems an error message came up at the bottom saying - Testing: BOOT PATH, Error code: BIOHD-3.

I consulted HP who said I need to create a partition for the software to be installed to.
If that is the problem then can anybody assist me with this as I have no clue.

By the way, I'm using Vista home premium.

I'm trying to create what for all intents and purposes is an e-book that includes some animated figures, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this.It will be a very long text document (circa 80,000 words), which will need to have consistent styles, automated numbering systems for headings, figures, etc, and a means of handling references, such as what you see with EndNote and similar programs. The animations are currently gif images, and they will need to loop when displayed in the document. The final product would be saved as a pdf, which I understand is capable of displaying animations?Does anyone know if it is possible to get Word 2010 to handle animations, and if so, how? I know it's capable of all the other requirements, although it's a bit dodgy and prone to corruption with long documents, so I'll use sub-documents and a good backup system to get around this.Alternatively, does anyone know of a good text editor that would meet all the above requirements? Thanks in advance for your advice.

Answer:How to create a text document with animations

To the best of my knowledge, you can NOT display animation in a Word doc.If you save the document as a Web page, you can see the animation with a browser, but that does not sound like what you have in mind.Powerpoint may be an alternative, but I'm not sure.Alternatively, does anyone know of a good text editor that would meet all the above requirements? Here is a couple of lists: can probably find more using a Google search.MIKE

Answer:Is It Safe To Delete This Text Document

Hello ozhawk,

The file in question is not that large, it is around the same size as an audio file. The probable reason for it not being defragged is that mcafee is using the file to perform operations. If you want the file gone, you will most likely have to remove mcafee and install an appropriate substitute for mcafee.

Hi, may not be easy to do this however lets see what you have here. Go to start, search and type regedit the reg editor will open Navigate to:-

and expand in the right payne look for the string value "Item Name"
it should have this entry against Item Name:-

If not then right click select modify and copy and paste the above into the box. Reboot to take effect.

If you wish you can select file from regedit and export this key to desktop call it txt.reg and if anything goes wrong you can double click it to merge back to registry.

If doing this worries you just tell us what you see in the registry , I can write you a .reg file to do this for you.

I've never had this problem before, so I don't know if it's got to do with how Windows 8 is set up, if there's a bug with OneDrive, or what, but I spent all day typing up a document- saving it several times throughout -before I saved it one last time to unplug my computer and take it to my bedroom. When I plugged it back in again, started it up, and opened the document to go over it again, the entire document was blank. I could highlight a huge chunk of the paper, but there were no words, no indentations, and no separate paragraphs. My font had been Calibri, and now it says that it's Courtier New. What's happened? OneDrive online won't even open it, and when I copy the invisible text to a new page, to see if the page itself is maybe corrupt, the only thing that pastes is one line like someone tapped the enter button on a brand new page.
This frustrates me to no end, and it's happened before. In the past, I've caught it quickly enough that I can access it on OneDrive before it updates itself online, and I can save it. But the messed up file updated itself too fast for me to salvage anything this time.
In the past, I've also had this happened when I attempt to open OneDrive too quickly after restarting my computer. The whole page is blank, because the text hasn't been loaded yet because my computer was still connecting with OneDrive... or something... but then all I had to do was wait and open the document again and it would be fine. I use OpenOffice Writer and I wrote several pages of text that's really kinda important and I have no idea about computers at all so getting it back isn't going well. Basically, I've got an old laptop and occasionally the battery dies without giving me any notice before hand (I try to keep an eye on it but I get absorbed in my work so that usually ends badly), however a lot of the time openoffice manages to recover the work I've done. In fact this is the first time that I can remember when it hasn't been able to. You will only be able to recover up to the latest AUTOSAVE. The timing of these is up to you to set from within OpenOffice (and I don't know what it defaults to).
You might try looking in your TEMP folder - wherever that is set to- , or, your Office TEMP folder if that is different (it is in MS Office).

I suggest that if you have an iffy machine, you set the default to a shortish time.

ok.. I was trying to copy photos from a fisher price tough kids camera ( has no memory card) to my computer. was viewing the photos when the camea was disconnected. the file on my computer now reads ccErrDspLog.text. can this be reversed back to photos? I'm not very computer literate.

Answer:photos turned into text document

It seems that file is merely a log file of the error that was generated by the device when it was unplugged. It doesn't hold any pictures inside the file, merely a computer message that says there was an error transferring the photos. If they are still on the device (it sounds like they should still be), it should be easy to just transfer them again.

Hi guys, this may seem a simple question on how to copy and paste but is giving me a huge headache.
I am trying to copy the script (text) only of an email received in hotmail in to Microsoft Word to create a document which I can then post as a letter.
When I select and copy all is fine, but when I try to past it in to Word, Windows stops the program saying a problem has been found.
What can I do? Are there alternatives? Am I doing something wrong?
I am running Windows Vista home basic.

Answer:hotmail text to word document

Hello and welcome to TSF,

depends on the word version you have just paste the text as unformatted text
in word 2003 and older: Edit -> Paste special -> unformatted text
Word 2007 and above: click on the arrow under the paste button (under the office button) and choose paste special

I saved a load of images and some text files and put them onto a CD, my image viewer is Irfanview, the are all now JPEG, I now want to edit one of the text ones, but i can not find any way of doing it, I can not highlight any of it and "copy" all i can do is drag a box round the text, and then it will copy, i have opened MS Word, but still i can not alter it, any ideasthanks

Answer:JPEG back to a text document...

A .jpeg is for compressing pix and is low resolution with a bitmapped appearance - text requires a far, far higher level of resolution.

Answer:Editting text in MS Publisher Document

I have a booklet I designed in MS Publisher 2000 and am trying to edit the text that I earlier put into a text box. However, whenever I move the cursor towards the text I get the 'Little Van' icon appear and the words "Picture Frame - Double Click to Change" How do I get rid of this and highlight the words in order to edit them? I realise this must be something quite simple bit it's cracking me up.

1/ i have a document that i have scanned with paintshop pro into .jpg; then i print it to adobe distiller as a pdf and then convert it to .rtf via bcl drake ( i know it's a long winded process, but i dont know a more efficient way to get text from a hard copy); anyway, i have tried it once or twice in the past and it worked but now in the .rtf format, i can't seem to highlight the text so that i can cut and paste the raw text.

Anyone know a better way?

2/also, on a brochure, there are diff. pictures, and i want to extract one of the pictures and use it as logo; what's the easiest way to grab just that picture from that page?

Answer:need help extracting text from a scanned document

Scanning text as text rather than an image requires OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software. Most scanner software includes some version of OCR.

If you scan the document in using OCR, you might have an easier time of it when converting to pdf and I know you'll be able to copy text.

Unfortunately, OCR is limited in what it can do. It has to look at the document being scanned and basically guess what character the mark on the page represents. The more limited (i.e., cheaper) the OCR software, the worse it will be at guessing. The poorer the quality of the original (faded type, photocopier smudges, colored paper, etc.) the more often it will guess wrong. The more heavily formatted the document (forms, tables, borders, lines), the more mistakes the software will make.

After you've scanned using OCR, just open it in a word processing program and clean up any mistakes.

As far as getting one image from a page, just scan the page in as an image, open it in some graphic/picture editing software (even MS Paint should be able to do this), use the selection tool to select the picture and either copy and paste it into a new image or use the "crop" or "edit" feature of the software you use to take out everything but what you have selected. Then save it.

I am attaching an Excel spreadsheet. I need to make all these tables look easily understandable by anyone...not sure how to do it as I do not have much experience with Excel! It somehow does not look very coherent at the moment. I basically need to compare Sheet 1 and Sheet 2.

and i want it to be pretty if possible!

thanks if anyone can help even a little bit!

Answer:Help me make this Excel document into something..

You have the problem of putting 4D data in a 2D table, and actually are doing it exactly the right way. I'd just fiddle round what info you nest in a previous set. I have reattatched your spreadsheet (not in X format i'm afraid, I don't have excel 07) so if you like the format you can stick the rest of the info in, or you can play around a bit yourself.

My version is on page 3

And can it be fixed?
I had partitioned a 2nd hard drive into D and E. I was having trouble with my C Driv, which mistakenly got confused with D--or at least the short cuts did.
So, I took 4 folders out of E, and dragged them into D, and deleted E.

Shortly after Partition Magic said Drive 2 was bad. This is a message I got:

Error #107 Partition begins after end of disk. ucBegin Cylinder (9964) must be less than 9964
Error #104 This partition unexpectly contains no sectors
Any suggestions would be greatly appeaciated. Thanks,
