Preferred Solution: How to extract rar file that have zip files inside

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: How to extract rar file that have zip files inside

You will see the files named R00, R02, R03 etc.. all you need to do is start the extraction of R00 and the rest should be extracted automatically...

Hi folks,

Im looking for an easy (and preferably free) way to do this. My current method is to write the .bin file to a CDRW then copy the stuff back to my hard drive but surely there is an easier way ?

Thanks,

Answer:How do I extract files from a .bin / .iso file ?

Hi

I recently downloaded a file off the net (no it's not corrupt or anything and yes I have downloaded it more that once), and when I try to extract what's in it, it will extract the .txt file, but not the .exe. I've gone into properties and unblocked it and have tried WinZip, WinRAR and 7-zip, but none seem to extract the .exe file. I tried it on another user, and it worked, and so I went back on my user, but as soon as I saw the file it auto-deleted itself. It's extremely annoying. Also, when trying to extract the .exe file by itself, it comes up with ! Cannot execute "C:\Users\filipo\AppData\Local\Temp\Rar$EX01.866\c ohtrn.exe"
I also looked around and this has happened to someone else,
http://www.techist.com/forums/f9/can...-vista-194674/
but that thread is closed.

Any ideas on what to do?

Answer:Can't extract .exe files from a .zip file.

Well i would first use CCleaner to clean out your temp files. I would then go through Osiris Guide.

Osiris Spyware Guide

After that i would then try to extract the file.

How to use 2 bin files (“boot extract”) to make a bootable iso file?

I want to make a bootable iso file of myWindows 7 Ultimate DVD (64 bits) in order to use on a bootable USB drive and to use for re-installation.

Bart's Boot Image Extractor (bbie.exe) gives 2 bin files of 2 sectors of the DVD:
734 <0x2DE> and 736 <0x2E0> (see picture)

To make the iso file I use MagicISO. The program asks for a boot image and I have 2 boot images.

How do I get these 2 boot images in the iso file? So I have at the end and exact copy of my original DVD.
With MagicISO or another program?

Hi Everyone,

I hope this is not too much, but I badly need help on creating a VBScript for Excel that can:
1. Check if any excel file exists, if there are, open them one by one and do step 2 onwards; if none, do nothing.
2. Copy cells F8:Z8 of Sheet 1 all the way to the bottom where F8 is not null and Paste it to C1 to a new excel file.
3. Then copy the value from A2 and B2 then paste/reiterate it to A1 and B1 all the way to the bottom where F8 is not null of the new excel file.
4. Save the result to .csv.
5. Append all .csv results into one (there are multiple excel source files).

Here?s an illustration:

Answer:Extract Columns from Excel Files then Append to .CSV file

Sounds not that complicated to me.

Code:

Const strCsv = "test.csv"
Const srtSeparator = ";"

Const ForWriting = 2
Const ForAppending = 8
usedMode = ForWriting

Dim arrLine(22)
Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set objXL = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
Set objCSV = objFSO.OpenTextFile(strCsv, usedMode, True)
Set objFolder = objFSO.GetFolder(objFSO.GetParentFolderName(WScript.ScriptFullName))

For Each objFile In objFolder.Files
If LCase(objFSO.GetExtensionName(objFile.Name)) = "xls" Then
Set objWB = objXL.Workbooks.Open(objFile.Path)
Set objWS = objWB.Worksheets(1)
Set objCell = objWS.Cells(8, 6)
If objCell.Text <> "" Then
arrLine(0) = objWS.Cells(2, 1)
arrLine(1) = objWS.Cells(2, 2)
line = 0
Do
For i = 0 To 20
arrLine(i + 2) = objCell.Offset(line, i).Text
Next
objCSV.WriteLine Join(arrLine, srtSeparator)
If objCell.Offset(line + 1, 0).Text = "" Then Exit Do
line = line + 1
Loop
End If
Set objCell = Nothing
Set objWS = Nothing
objWB.Close False
Set objWB = Nothing
End If
Next

objXL.Quit

Hi,

I get a daily report for my business with the break up of cost and profit. I would like to have one file with an Update command button which extracts the data from these files and pastes it according to the correspnding date and heading in the new file.

This will allow me to view the volatilty in my costs and profits on a daily basis, and perform further analysis on the data. I am quite comfortable using excel, but a beginner with VBA.

Lets have Column A4:A270 as the Dates of the year 2012, and Row B3:Y3 as the different headings.

Can someone please help me make this. Any tips and pointers would be extremely useful.

Thanks,

Answer:Extract & Compile data from multiple Exel files into one file

Hi abwrld
We need to start with knowing your OS and Version of Office you are using.
It would also help if you posted 2 samples of your daily update report - make them with false data if you want. Are these updates also in excel? Do you Save the updates to your computer and then do your work (as in they are emailed to you) or do you open the source docs from a central server or network share?

My question is a security question.
If someone has a file on his/her computer that contains personal/secure information, for example a text file that contains passwords and account numbers, or an audio recording of a conversation where account numbers and passwords were spoken out loud...  Is it possible for fragments of the secure file to end up getting stuck inside of another file or group of files on the same pc...making it possible for someone to reconstruct the secure file from the fragmented pieces and/or view its original contents?  Or could it be possible even for the entire secure file to somehow end up inside of another larger file on the same computer...making it easy for someone to view the secure information....(by the way I only used a text file or an audio file as an example...it could be any file containing secure data)...My simplified concern is this...If you have a file that contains information that you want to keep secure...is there anyway that pieces of this file, if not the whole file it self, could end up inside of another file or a group of files on the same computer that the file containing the secure information was created on?...thus making it a security risk to even share mp3s on a computer that ever had any secure information on it...since maybe there'd be a change ur credit card numbers and passwords might somehow end up in one of those mp3s that ur sharing in a peer to peer file sharing program online.....or do things not work like tha... Read more

Answer:Can a File somehow end up inside of another file/files

It all depends on the program you are using to access the files. For example, Windows (starting from XP) creates a hidden file thumbs.db that contains thumbnails of all the images inside a folder. If you delete the original pictures through some other program or command line, and do not open the folder in Windows Explorer, this file still stays there. If you share the folder, this file gets shared too. Your information gets leaked.

If you use a computer for banking online or shopping online (any kind of financial transaction), then do not ever use that computer for P2P file sharing.

Hi All...
I will explain what I need in as much detail as possible.
I need a batch file to move specific files into a separate folder, possibly by opening my hex editor, searching for the word "body" ( without the quotes ) and if found ,close hex editor, move file to a folder called "moved" ,then go on to the next one.If the word "body" is not found just close hex editor and ignore the file.
I have approx 900 files in a folder. One is a vehicle and one is a map for a game. They are mixed together and the only way of telling them apart is by opening each one with my hex editor and search for the word "body",which means it is a vehicle. If the "body" word is not found,it is a map.Example wording of the files: mapname.idf carname.idf
Manually this process would take hours, even days.
It would be a lot better if there is a way of doing this without using the hex editor/batch idea.
Here is a link to one map and one vehicle file if needed for an example:

Thanks a bunch for your help!

I extracted that with the same result. Another Winrar archive file! Am I missing something? Any help appreciated.

Answer:When I extract a .rar file using Winrar the extracted file is still in .rar format

Instead of extracting the .RAR file directly from the disk (where it will be a "Read Only" file), copy it first to the PC's hard drive, remove its Read Only attribute if set, then extract it with Winrar.

Answer:I can not extract files

Not knowing what type of file you are trying to extract from, nor the OS you are using, it gets hard to understand exactly what it is you are trying to do. But if you are using either Vista or Win7 then the extracting (uncompressing) and compressing function is built into the OS.

You might want to remove the extraction program you installed (7-zip, or winrar, or whatever) and then reset the file associations for the .zip file type and see what then happens.

How to reset the associations? Read this:

Hi,

Up until recently, i have had no problems, but over the last week, i have been unable to extract rar files with Winrar. No matter what the file, it gives me a heap of crc file corrupt errors. When i download the same files on another computer, no error. I can choose to keep broken files and ignore all error messages and the files are fine, but I shouldn't have to do this. Can anyone help. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Now i try to unpack cab files but i it was'nt easy.Searching alot on net i found may tools. But i found only one working after testing alot of tools.
"InstallShield v12 CAB file viewer and extractor" and version 14 also.

It can unpack both cab and hldr files.Problem is that it can unpack one file at a time And Setup contains alot of files.I dont know what to do?
Need suggestions

Answer:HOw to extract .cab and .hdr files

Hi

Can you state why you need to uncompact a CAB file?

Using the likes of WinRAR will open a CAB file and then it depends what you need to get out of that archive, not all files in an archive are exceutables and they serve various purposes.

As it was an installsheild file, those are direct executables and do not need uncompacting, just double click the exe to run, and all files will be installed as needed, only way someone would need to extract an installsheild file is to reverse engineer it, so please advise us on what you are attempting

Give Windows version and Service Pack as well as what software app this is?

I can no longer extract files that I download off the internet.

.exe, .zip, .rar, you name it, it will not extract.

I downloaded an nvidia driver update, and in the middle of the extraction it said that my file is corrupt. Same for any zip or rar files. (I tried using winrar, 7zip, WinMount3, Windows Explorer)

I ran chkdsk and Windows Memory Diagnostic and it seems like there are no problems.

I wonder if it has anything to do with my RAID5 configuration. I had to rebuild a harddrive twice since I installed 7100, both due to Windows crashing unexpectedly. I will probably be moving to a RAID1 config when I install RTM though, as I can no longer stand 40 hour rebuilds.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what else I can check, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Answer:How to Extract *.MZP files?

From the 4th comment down on the second link you gave.
Did you follow the installation instructions? You extract the .mzp file from the zip then from 3ds max click Maxscript /
Run Script and select the .mzp file... Max will then put everything in the right place for you... Click to expand...

i have some programs compressed using jar extension and need to decompress.thanks for any help

Answer:how do i extract jar files

Java Archive, jar, file. Jar files are zip files on steroids. In addition to an applet's class files, a Java archive contains a manifest listing the archive's contents and encrypted security information such as the applet vendor. In the event of a "Class not found" error message, it is useful to open a jar file with a standard file decompression utility, such as WinZip, and see if the requested file is actually available. Class files are, of course, also distributed by Netscape, Sun and Microsoft as part of a browser package and it is possible that a "Class not found" error is due to the fact that a browser vendor does not support the necessary functionality.

I can only find program that creates and opens sfv files?

Answer:How do I extract sfv files?

My understanding is that you can't. It's essentially a 'checksum' file associated with other compressed or split files. It doesn't actually contain data unto itself.

But... here's something that'll read them apparently: http://www.software-downloads.org/cgi-bin/detailed.cgi?ID=536

Hi everyone,

a friend gave me a copy of some music software but it is really complicated for me to install it as i am very IT phobic. I have no clue what to do and know one to help me ha.

He gave me 2 discs, the first one containing one file which is roughly around 4GB in size and is a .001 file. my computer doesnt recognise it. and the second one with another file which is 1GB and is a .002 file? and also a folder containing 7-zip in the second disc.

He told me briefly what to do and i have searched the internet for help but no use. He said..

"Using 7-zip extract the .001 file and once that is it done it will ask for .002 or (disc 2) to be extracted. Once that is done you will be left with a big file, .iso file? extract that, and you will be left with setup.exe and then you just install it normally.

( I might be mistaken on some parts because i didnt write down what he said, he lives across the country and i dont have his number )

These are the steps i took below and what happened.

---------------------------------------------

Disk 1: reason5.001

Disk 2: reason5.002

STEP 1: extracting reason5.001 and it never asked for .002 but still got to 100% ??

STEP 2: extracted 3 new files to a new folder i created on desktop. They were..(MSINFO) (Reason5.iso) (R5Keygen)

The thing is when it scans the cd it can't find either one of these dll files. I checked the cd and the two files are listed so why does it say no matching files after it scans the cd?

Answer:Can't extract files

what are you trying to do, install winME? by extract tool you mean manually locate files because the winME installation program cannot find these files and giving you errors?

if so maybe you should try to use a different newer cd-rom/ dvd-rom drive to install it or if you have a burnt copy the copy was made badly. or CD is scratched

Hi guys,

So I have an old computer game that apparently was designed to run on Windows 3.1 (1993). I'm trying to extract a disk image from the .exe file so that I can play it on a DOS emulator. I tried to extract it via command line, but I got an error saying, "The program cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows." I also tried extracting it with Universal Extractor, but didn't work because it said the .exe file is not a valid PE file. The DOS emulator won't run the installer of the game, which is why I'm trying to extract it.

I tried just running the .exe file in compatibility mode, but the lowest I could go was Windows 95, which still didn't work.

I'm determined to figure this out, please help!

Answer:How to extract from old .exe file?

Windows 3.1 is a 16 bit OS. No 64 bit version of Windows has ever supported 16 bit applications. Running the application under a virtual machine is the only option.

It is probably part of an archive, does it have a nice neat file size in bytes such as 15,000,000? If it is part of an archive you are going to need the rest of the files from that archive to extract it.

Folks,

Running XP. Whenver I try and install free security software off the internet, tried all sorts including Spbot, AntiMalewarebytes, Google etc. or even Norton Systemworks from a disk, or even my ISP free antivirus software, the install gets so far and then there is always, always an error on extracting some files. On spybot, for example, it says 'error extracting TTLASSH.sbs or something like that. Consequently I am unable to upload any anti-virus software.

Also, I have a dodgy hard drive. Systemworks, running from the CD, says I have bad security descriptors but these never seem to get fixed, even on reboot.

Computer seems to run fine apart from this, not infected, internet quite fast. Get the odd bluescreen crash but that's down to the dodgy hard drive.

I really would like to install some anti-virus and spyware software, any help appreciated.

Trying to extract file in win RAR it gives following error: "Decompression problem: broken compressed data.? Extraction stops on 20%. There is a lot of important photos for me. How to get them back? Please help me.

Answer:Can’t extract files with RAR, what’s the problem?

WinRAR has a repair option -- have you tried that? Also, their is supposed to be an option to ignore corrupt files during the extract operation. If you can set that, you might be lucky and have only one file corrupted in the archive and be able to extract the others.

There are plenty of offers of apps online that claim to repair RAR files, but I've not used any of them, so can't advise you on which ones to use.

Hi all,

I have just written some C++ app using MS visual studio compiler and fltk graphics libraries. Now the .exe file of that app works fine on my machine and I know that this is why because I have installed all the needed apps/files etc. on my machine before creating that app.
I expect that when I copy that app into another Windows machine, since it is .exe file (which is the app), it works on that else machine as well. But that else machine needs some .dll files (that I have them in my machine)

Hi

My problem is how do I extract them so that I can read them as there are a lot that I need. It would be great if I could convert them into a word or similar file. My old email programme was Outlook express 6. I am using the new vista one now.

Any help would be gratefully receivd.

Answer:Dbx Files And How To Extract Emails

Try this. It's a standalone program and doesn't require installation.Viewer for standalone files containing Microsoft Outlook Express 4,5 and 6 message database (*.idx/*.mbx/*.dbx) and standalone EML files. This application is based on MiTeC Outlook Express Reader. It displays list of contained messages and their header. Message can be viewed in detailed view including attachments (save ability) and HTML preview and printing. Messages can be saved to *.eml files.http://www.mitec.cz/oeview.htmlAfter your open it, go to the top where it says File, and choose Open. Browse to the folder where the .dbx files are. Select the .dbx file you want to see, ie Inbox.dbx, highlight it, select Open. All the emails in the Inbox are now listed. Highlight the email you want, and then go to the top to Message Database, and select Message View. And there it is!Or if you just want to save the complete folder first and then look at all of them, just highlight all the messages in the .dbx folder, go up to Message Database and choose "Save Selected" and save them to a folder of your choice, say in My Documents. If you need to put any of them back into your OE Inbox, Sent, a special folder...wherever...you can drag and drop them into OE again.

Hi all. I've been trying to extract .cab files from PC games so I can find the audio files from the games and import them to iTunes (and convert them to .wav if necessary). I have two brand new games. The discs are in great shape, no scratches etc... When I try to extract the data from the .cab files with not just WinRAR or WinZip but literally any extraction program, I get a message that says something like "the archive file is in either an unknown format or is damaged", or "cannot open archive" etc... I am wondering if by chance, both discs somehow have corrupt files on them, or if there is some kind of protection being placed on the files to keep them from being opened? The games are from 2001-2003. They run perfectly fine when I play them, but I can't get to their files. I do have auto-play disabled on my computer because I rip other standard audio CDs with a specific program. Does that play a role?
Thanks for any assistance!

Hi,

I used this site once before and everyone was a great help! so im back.

I have an issue where i'm using microsoft outlook and i get sent heaps of attachments in a few emails. The attachments are .msg files and when i open them each one has a .pdf file in it.

I can save the .msg files to my computer easily enough, but i want to be able to extract all those pdf files (which all have different file names) from each of the .msg files in one go. I'm hoping its possible.

I've done a bit of research and found a code, using powershell (which took me a few hrs to figure out).

I have downloaded an application that is in part files. I have had not problem with them before and extracted them easily by simply right clicking on of the files then clicking extract but now it does not recognise them as part files. I have tried re-installing winrar, winzip and 7zip. None of them recognise them as part files. I also have the same problem with another download but it used to work perfectly. Anybody know how i can fix the problem?

Answer:Cannot extract part files

Part files like filename.part1.rar? If so, rar sections must be downloaded to the same directory, and extracted by clicking part1. You must have all parts for this to work.

Some other format and extension? Please give us a filename, and someone will know how to make it work-if it will work, that is.

Hi,I?ve got a problem with extracting RAR archive. I?ve got 9 archives each is about 1.6 gb include .PDF files. Have downloaded them from net . During the download were no errors and other problems like switching off and so on. But when I?m tried to extract them, when it reach 78% , RAR has stopped the extraction process and gave me an error: ? Rar error crc file is corrupted? . First of all I?ve re-downloaded these files. But error occurs again. Then I?ve tried to recover them with RAR. Now It gives an error on 92% and only on 7 and 9 archives, other archives OK now.But how to fix these two archives? May be there is some additional ways to fix them? Some soft ore maybe programming loopholes? Now It?s a challenge for me. And I really want to fix it. No matter what it costs. Thank you for your help.

Answer:Can’t extract 1.5GB RAR files

Have you tried 7-Zip (free)? I use it for RAR files and it works fine:http://www.7-zip.org/I have only allowed it to open RAR and PAGES files (latter is for Mac) because I am generally happy to use inbuilt Windows facilities for ZIP files.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I was hoping someone could shed some light on this as I am growing increasingly frusterated. I bought my computer new less then a year ago and use it for internet access, word processing, and a little gaming. recently i've had update issues, but even stranger when I attempt to extract a file using vista's in home extraction program(dont have a third party one) I get a message "Windows Explorer has stopped working" which then immediatly is followed by "Windows explorer is restarting." I can not extract files nor move files around that are in these files without this occuring. I went to the problem reports and solutions and get the following message:

Not sure if this is the correct part of the forum but here it goes..

Here's my problem, whenever I try to extract a big file +1GB or when a video game/program simultanously extracts big files and installs them, I get an error that the compressed file is corrupted and the installation/extraction fails!
Things I've tried: Extracted several archives on PC and got the ''corrupted'' message, copy pasted onto my USB -> laptop and the laptop extracted all of them just fine so it's not a problem with the archived/compressed files. I've ran the memtest86+ program on my PC to test my RAMs and the result was that it was all fine.
My specs are: OS Windows 7, Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz, Graphics card: GeForce GT 240, RAM: 4GB
Any help would be much appreciated, I'm eager to hear your responses since I have no clue what to do!

Answer:PC Fails to extract files!

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

You're not using any special extraction software are you?

How do files less then 1GB extract? No issues?
