Catalyst Clean Uninstall Utility nuked Intel USB drivers

Question: Catalyst Clean Uninstall Utility nuked Intel USB drivers

I'm working on a desktop where any AMD video card will not respond after the standard 20 minute timeout to cut video; the whole machine freezes. It doesn't happen with nVidia cards (at least with a 550ti), so from what I could tell, making sure that all Catalyst-related files were removed from the machine was a good call.

I ran the AMD Catalyst Clean Uninstall Utility, and found that it nuked Intel's USB drivers from the machine. It's an AsRock Z87 Pro3. I hooked up a serial mouse, and, using the on-screen keyboard, I downloaded/installed the chipset drivers from AsRock's web site (no joy), then the latest version from Intel, also with no change.

At this point, I'm running sfc /scannow, and if it would help, I will upload the logs.

This machine's specs:
AsRock Z87 Pro3
Intel i5-4670K
AMD Radeon HD7950 3GB (Also tried with Radeon HD7870)
Win7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit

Question 1: Is this most easily fixed with a repair install?
Question 2: Will a sysprep (generalized) fix it?

I have a genuine product key, so either of the above are possibilities at least from an activation perspective.

EDIT/UPDATE: sfc /scannow found no integrity violations.

Preferred Solution: Catalyst Clean Uninstall Utility nuked Intel USB drivers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Catalyst Clean Uninstall Utility nuked Intel USB drivers

My own approach to uninstalling AMD drivers in order to install a newer version is to use Driver Fusion (formerly named Driver Sweeper).

There is a free version, but at its low price I use the "premium" version. It understands drivers.

Never had a problem with it uninstalling anything other than the exact AMD driver package (including Registry entries, etc.) I was trying to remove.
As far as finding drivers for the Intel USB components you saw got unintentionally removed with the AMD clean uninstall you ran, is the problem now that you can't get proper new versions of the deleted drivers reinstalled?

Do you have a "system restore points" you can restore from before you did the AMD uninstall? This should restore the working system at that point.

Do you have any complete "system image" backups you can recover from?

If you're just looking for help finding the Intel USB drivers for the machine, can you post a screenshot of Device Manager -> Properties for the "other devices" needing drivers, Details tab, and post the Hardware ID (second item in the Property dropdown list).

I'd like to update my integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver, but the Intel Driver Update Utility is showing two different drivers, one says Intel Graphics Driver, and the other says Intel HD Graphics Driver.

Why is it showing two different drivers and which one, or both, should I install?

Answer:Intel Driver Update Utility showing two different drivers

Hi MW,
Depends on your graphics card, with or without HD,
note1 these are generic drivers if you have an OEM install, use the ones from them, unless your having a problem.
note2 if your specs are correct then use your >>Nvidea<< control panel

Like drive sweeper does for ati and nvidia. I have a netbook and Its gone from regular drivers to mod back to regular. The point its at when I uninstal it asks for a file in a specific location. I can get it uninstalled, but I need to clean it out. I dont have a usb dvd drive so I cannot reformat it, and the built in recovery no longer works for some reason. Is there anything I can do for a complete sweep of drivers for the IGP? This is totally driver removal, and nothing to actually do with my IGP, which has no issues. I just wanna clean it up because it was lagging horribly weird lately.

Answer:way to clean all intel drivers?

Not sure whether i understand the post completely. But you can do the following.

1) Do a regular cleanup AND a registry cleanup with CCleaner (Download it, its free). Use default settings.

2) Then update all your drivers.

3) If 1) and 2) dont help, do a repair install. Heres how.

Repair Install

If you are having trouble uninstalling, use Revo Uninstaller.

I know, most of you are probably tired of reading about the issue with CCC 10.8. But, I'm not here to talk about that so bare with me.   Since I never really have a legitimate use for the switchable graphics feature on my laptop, mostly because I am gaming and watching HD videos, there really is no need for me to use Intel HD graphics. So I was wondering, if I was to uninstall the onboard graphics using Safe Mode, then try updating my Radeon HD 5730 from the AMD website, would it cause any system instability? I am aware that this is a considerably new system so every trick on the book hasn't been tried yet. But before I try this, I've already created a system restore point to this very moment so if anything goes horribly wrong (e.g. BSOD) I can revert it. All I need is the unbiased advice of a somewhat  'experienced' person to give me a green and/or yellow light for this little experiment.     System specs are; 15.6" IdeaPad Y560Intel Core i5-450mATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 with Intel HD Integrated Graphics4GB of DDR3 RAMWindows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Answer:Can you uninstall the Intel HD Graphics drivers from Y560?

I don't know the answer, but I do know I would not trust a restore pointto get it all back if there is a problem. Got a external hard drive? Make a system image and recovery diskin Win 7, Backup and Restore. Works great for fooling around! Just my opinion.

OS= Windows 7 64-bit, I want to complete remove/uninstall my Amd graphics card drive and Catalyst Control center. But doing it manually as suggested has left me with two folders under C:\AMD\Support, one from a previous installation, the other from a update. Earlier one is "12-6_vista_win7_64_dd_ccc_whql" The latest is "13-1_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql" I was following the steps to through one folder the latest of course and start the setup to remove only component's for the video card. Then my question is when I remove both of these through the setup, you have to be careful that you only remove the ones associate with the graphics card, as I have a amd chip set. I need to remove both but only remove the ones for the AMD Radeon HD 6800 graphics card, then I can reboot and install the latest AMD Catalyst control center and drivers for a clean installation. I need to know what to check in the catalyst uninstall program when it populates, so I only get the software for the graphics card and not other AMD stuff, chipset etc. Thanks in advance GH

Answer:AMD clean uninstall and reinstall to latest drivers

I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
I was having problems installing a program (Berlitz German Premier) where the install would just disappear halfway thru the process. A program would not appear under my programs list but when I went to Uninstall an icon for uninstall of the Berlitz software appears for each time I tried to install it. However I get the following error messages (see attached document with screen captures) when I tried to delete it the traditional way.
When I use Windows Install Clean Up utility, the program is nowhere to be found on the list; thus I can't use that program.
Any suggestions for how to get this program removed?

Answer:Program wont uninstall it with Uninstall or Install Cleanup Utility

Is this a windows XP program or one for vista. It looks like a compatibility problem. Check with vendor to see if they have a version for vista. Some older programs will not work with vista and never will. There is an option to run in capatibility mode with vista but does not always work.

I want to uninstall ati catalyst 9.2 so i can try ati catalyst 9.7 with sims 2 and see if it has compatibility issues like 9.3-9.6 had for me.ATI catalyst 9.2 was all i could get to work with sims 2 and i want to try 9.7 to see what happens.

When i selected the ati catalyst icon in control panel to uninstall an error message appeared about ati catalyst installation manager stopped working.I did get the screen for removing the ati software and pressed next, but nothing happened except the ati catalyst icon in the programs section of control panel disappeared without actually uninstalling the driver/catalyst software.

Also,i retried uninstalling by pressing setup.exe in c:/ati/support/9-2_vista64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_75977/setup.exe

all that happens is that catalyst install manager stopped working error messages pop up and also i get problems and solutions icon appear after each uninstall failure regarding "solve a problem with microsoft visual studio".It's about this....

In order to help fix some of my blue screen issues, I was told to uninstall the AMD Catalyst Install Manager and then 'Install the driver you selected for the display cards once Windows starts'.

Thing is, I know diddly-squat about drivers, so I am clueless as to what I'd have to reinstall. I don't even know what I'm really supposed to post here to get help. I've attached a System Health Report. I figured that'd be my best bet.

Could anyone here please help me with this?

Answer:Must uninstall AMD Catalyst; what do I need to reinstall?

Go into 'Control Panel' and select 'Programs and Features'.

Find the AMD Catalyst Install Manager listing and double click it - follow instructions to uninstall.

Google 'AMD Catalyst' (sorry, can't post a link here) and choose the listing 'Downloads -AMD'

Choose the correct download for your operating syatem and follow instructions to download

I'm using Win 7 64 bit on a Dell XPS 8300 with an AMD Radeon X6700 graphics card. At the start of my problem the Catalyst Control Center (CCC) appeared on my all programs list in Start with a red x. The app would not start, no error message(s). I went to Control Panel and the uninstall/repair for the CCC. It ran and said repair successful. However, the CCC would not open. I went to the AMD site and it had a way to check whether I had the latest driver and I do. I searched on the web for solutions and tried the one that talks about public key tokens. When I followed the instructions in safe mode (by the way I can no longer activate safe mode with the F8 key since this mess began, I use MSCONFIG.EXE, Boot Tab) I checked for the public key tokens identified in the solution and did not find them.

Using the above mentioned solution involved uninstalling CCC and I did this after going to the AMD site and downloading the version for Win 7 64 bit so I could reinstall. When I reinstalled there was no listing in the Start all programs list for CCC. I went to the directory for ATI and tried several setup.exe files to no avail. One did bring up an install/uninstall application that I tried and told me I had no components of CCC on my system. So I went to Control Panel uninstall again and tried to uninstall CCC. It would not work. I get the message: The application failed to start because its side by side configuration is incorrect. Use sxstrace.exe for more details. I ... Read more

Also, we don't recommend "cleaning the registry" here. It can, very ofter, do more harm than good.

Open question, discussion, and somewhat of a problem.

I've recently been having various issues with my pc, among the things I tried to do was update my graphics card driver: found the newest driver crashed madly, and rolled back. It's brought to mind a simple question:

What benefits are there in going for the newer ATI Catalyst drivers compared to the one defaulted by windows but which hasn't updated in 3 years.

Generally what could have changed? Compatablity? If it works it works. Stablity? Performance? Heat management?

Since it takes me 2 hours to download a driver (slow connection) I'm sticking on my w7 default ones: I know they work. It does make me ask though if there is a benefit to upgading after i've got my PC stable again.

Answer:Windows Drivers vs ATI Catalyst Drivers

newer drivers are made to improve performance and add new features in the graphic control panel and fixes bugs and issues that were in the previous drivers.

They came out a few days ago. But I've noticed that the ATI overdrive is quite a bit different. The 10.2 drivers allowed the GPU to automatically step down to 600MHz from 750MHz, when idle. The memory could be run as low as 450MHz (though it had to be switch manually), and the gauge would report ice cold temperatures at idle. This is a 4870 I'm talking about, and underclocking the ram was almost like turning the card into a 4850 at the flick of a switch. Great for when you're not using the video card much. And some games will obviously run at 60fps with the memory underclocked like that anyway. It was pretty cool, even though you had to switch it manually.

Anyway, I notice in the 10.3 catalyst, that the GPU won't go lower than 750MHz, even at idle (even though you can set the slider as low as 600MHz). And the Memory is the same, in that it won't go any lower than 900MHz.

Anyone else noticed this at all?

i just installed the latest release of the catalyst 8.10 drivers hoping to get a few more frames in Crysis and some decent FarCry2 support and i'm having a pretty chronic problem...

First, i installed them from the standard 3 in 1 package and then i reboot and the res won't go above 640x480x4... so i restart and then as soon as i get past the welcome screen in wondows (ie as soon as the driver should be kicking in) the whole thing goes to sh*te! my whole rig just freezes up and i get some crazy oscillating static-type noise and it doesnt go anywhere... so i reboot, try again, same thing

then i got the 3 separate installers (figured maybe it was just some stupid tech at ATI couldn't compile an installer right) and installed each component separately (after uninstalling the original 8.10 pack), restarting between each component... restart... same issue straight off the bat...

I've gone back to the 8.9 drivers now, but im really just wondering if anyone else has/had the same problem or knows any way around it. (and, no, i dont really wanna hear "Get a GTX 260 Core 216... nv hasnt got any problems" lol)

EDIT: OK... now its doing a similar thing with the 8.9 drivers... except there's no crazy noise and it doesn't totally freeze... when the driver should kick in, the screen just goes black and the fans go absolutely nuts

5.1 CATS:

5.3 CATS:

Now I notice with the 5.2's and 5.3's in game it will run ok.. then suddenly drop to 5fps and come back up.. the 5.1s NEVER do that. It dropps framerate in all the games I play, I run the game games with 5.1 and they all run good.

Look at the HUGE difference between FPS on teh Pixel shader test on each one.. 5.1's give me 255FPS and 5.3's give me 99.3FPS

Yes V-sync is off, and they were both run at the same settings. WTF is going on here??

Hi, i was wondering whether it was possible to install ATi Catalyst without the drivers, the reason for this being, that Catalyst has a better overclocking feature than the software im currently using, the software I am currently using is ASUS SmartDoctor. I am using this as the ATi drivers are (strangely) not compatible with ASUS modified cars, so gameplay cuts out often, now I've installed SmartDoctor, i miss the really effective overclocking feature. Although the drivers work. Any Help ??

Thanks, chazshep.

AMD Catalyst Drivers are not working correctly. I get this error when attempting to open the Control Centre.

Recently I did a clean install of Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit due to unrelated issues; I have two Radeon 6700 HD GPUs in a Crossfire configuration.

At this point, I am wondering if my employer's VMWare-based secure remote desktop is the problem. Is this what is meant by 'side-by-side' configuration, or is this a Crossfire issue?

I read elsewhere that incorrect or missing C++ Redist. packages might cause this issue, so I have done clean installations on those services as well.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Question: Catalyst Drivers

I have a 4850 video card. I downloaded the 8.7 Catalyst drivers. Does anyone know if the hotfix driver was included with that package? AMD website does not say. Should I also uninstall the catalyst drivers before doing the hotfix?

Answer:Catalyst Drivers

Yes you should always unisntall hte old drivers. I would use Driver Cleaner Pro as well to prevent driver conflict.

I do not know of the hotfix being included. But i am sure their forums would hold that answer. When was the hotfix released? Before or after the drivers?

I have a number of programs that do not seem to have an uninstall with them, and are not in the add/remove list. Although not a major concern, I was wondering if there is something that will do that job for me, or is it a case of locating the files with a search, and then deleting them that way?ThanksSteve

Answer:Uninstall utility ?

I usually right-click and delete the file from C/programmes and then run a registry cleaner such as Regseeker to clear up any remaining debris. This may not work too well for games (although I have not had a problem so far) that tend to have bits all over the shop but 'ordinary' programmes seem to suffer no side-effects and I have done this for years.G

I have a Radeon 5850 installed in my desktop and my laptop has a 5650 card. The catalyst driver suite installs without a hitch on my laptop which is running Windows 7 HP (x64) but when I try to install the latest or previous versions of the same driver suite on my desktop which is running Windows 7 Ultimate (x32) the installation mentions errors and in the log it states the driver has not installed. In order to install the drivers I have to do it manually through device manager. I have used Driver Sweeper to erase all traces of the old driver files inside safe mode. I always uninstall my old drivers before putting in the new versions. Anyone know what is going on here and how to fix it?

Answer:ATI Catalyst Drivers won't install :(

Ok, firstly, alarm bells started ringing when i noticed that one device (laptop/pc) is 32bit, and the other 64bit. If you are using the same instal file on both machines, thats probably the problem!

If I'm reading that wrong, then sorry.

What I would do is firstly try the manufacturers website of your graphics cards for the latest drivers. If not, try windows update. If not, did you have drivers with the pc/laptop? If not, run dxdiag, save all info to text file and upload here for me to see.

Is anybody else having trouble with the Catalyst drivers with Vista x64?
I have tried reinstalling, tried using both 7.12 and 7.11 and still having issues.
I receive and error while doing anything visually enhanced such as trying to play a game.
Also I am getting white horizontal lines across both of my LCD monitors at 1440x900 resolution.
The GPU temps are well within the respected range only hitting about 46C load, so the card is not overheating and it is also at stock speeds/voltage.
This leads me to believe it is likely a compatibility issue with the 64bit version of Vista, as the same card ran quite well on the 32bit version.
My system specs are as follows:
AM2 4400+ x2
Gigabyte GA-MA69G-S3H
Sapphire Radeon 3850 256mb
4x1gb DDR2 800Mhz dual channel
2x250Gb 7200rpm Sata2

Any ideas?

Hey all, I've got an older 4850 that's perpetually stuck with CCC 11.2 drivers. I had issues when I originally put it in where it wouldn't install drivers at all which required a boot into safe mode alongside driver sweeper and some deleting of mucked up files in a system folder. But now when I go to do the automatic update through CCC, it says everything installs correctly but it doesn't actually install the latest drivers. And I've uninstalled CCC and reinstalled to no avail. I'm thinking something is broken deep down but I wouldn't know where to begin to look. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Answer:HD 4850 won't take new Catalyst drivers

Zach, have you tried driver sweeper in Safe mode? The reason I ask is that the drivers need to be COMPLETELY removed for a new install to work correctly.

To my unhappiness I have come to find out that there is no official version of Catalyst drivers for Windows 2003. Knowing that Windows 2003 has great compatibility capabilites I set Compatibility Mode to Windows XP for the ATI panels, so they could start. Well, the drivers work, but most of the games I usually play are so choppy its impossible to play (Like Diablo2, I would never think that it would work worse than an old GeForce4MX ).
So my question is, would this be caused by the OS, or is the fault of Catalyst 3.9 drivers?
BTW. my card is Radeon 9600 PRO.

Answer:Bad Catalyst drivers for Windows2003?

I can't get any of my games to work properly in Win2003 either. Guess the comptibility mode isnt all its cracked up to be after all.

Ok, so I have taken the big leap of faith in Microsoft and put Vista on one of my systems. After regretting the decision nearly immediately, I opted to just duke it out with my overloaded computer and try to get this to run. I have searched through numerous tech help forums looking for references to the ATI drivers, and it seems that everyone is able to get their graphics card to run. I found my card on a list of Vista supported cards, and downloaded the Vista drivers from the ATI website. After some minimal problems getting the drivers installed, and a reinstall just for luck (although the installer informed me that everything was up to date and running), I am still exactly where I started - without my Radeon. I can't even get the Catalyst Control Panel to open from my desktop (I double click the icon, or right click to Open, or go straight from the program file, and it basically just sits and blinks at me). The kicker is that of the numerous ATI programs in my Installed programs list, Catalyst is listed absolutely nowhere. Any suggestions?

so i noticed this issue about 4 months ago when 11.6 came out. i tried to install it and it did just fine. no errors. but then i restart my pc (like it tells you to) and my resolution is all off and i get a error saying that i didnt install the appropriate driver (i did) or i dont have a amd gpu (clearly do). i can open ccc and when i do it is very basic. no gpu options just 4 tabs. and it is in advanced.
So heres what i have done.
Reinstalled the drivers many times
uninstalled through amds options in reg mode and in safe mode.
Have ran driver sweeper erased all amd and ati files in regular mode and then again in safe mode restarting everytime. still no dice
manually set the driver in the device manager(went to my 5850 and did it from there)
i plan on buying battle field 3 soon but if i cant download the latest drivers i cant update it to get hot fixes or anything.
also 4 months ago i called amd tech support they told me to wait for 11.7 to come out and it will be fixed...11.8 came out i called again and they said wait for 11.9...yeah ill get right on that......
any ideas before i take the gtx460 out of my gfs pc and see if i can update there drivers? because if the 460 works and can update i guess im going to assume its my card and rma it
this is getting really annoying

Answer:Issues with going from 11.5 catalyst drivers to 11.8 (or any other)

Hi branflake welcome to SF

Please follow these steps in this order,

Do the ati catalyst remove cleaning, restart.

Download and install software\driver 10.11,during installation choose custom and untik\disable registration and free game, finish, restart.
Previous ATI Catalyst

Download and install software\driver 11.8 and again during the installation choose custom and this time untik\disable only the new catalyst 2,finish,restart.
ATI Radeon

With the above steps you will have all the new software\drivers without the new catalyst 2.

Though you will have the catalyst 1 to control your gpu.

Finish with the above steps an post back with any results.

right, here goes:

this morning, i decided that i wanted to control the fan on my X800GTO, and get accurate temperature reads. to do this, I had to install the asus "enhanced" catalysts. i removed ALL of the old stuff, and so installed the new asus drivers from scratch. when i restarted the asus tool for viewing temeratues etc said it could not function properly, due to the asus drivers not being installed.

so, i repeated the whole process, uninstall the lot, restart, install, restart, same thing. i then thought blow this, i will just put the regular catalysts back on. removed, restart, installed, restart, OK, i will try fear. plays fine. i then loaded the catalyst control panel, and it said:

"The necessary OpenGL extensions for showing the preview are not installed."

And the scection where it normally shows the car driving down the road was blank.

What exactly am I doing wrong here? It all seems so illogical.

I've been having quite a few crashes in a lot of my games (mostly the ones designed for nvidia e.g San Andreas, Sims 2 etc.) referencing a 0xc0000005 fatal crash. My PC does not restart, simply crashes to desktop. I checked google and it says that 0xc0000005 errors in games are usually 70% of the time due to device drivers with around 50% caused by Graphics drivers. I'm currently running the latest catalyst 5.7 drivers and was wondering if anyone knew of any stable catalyst versions which I could test? I'm pretty sure it's graphics drivers as Farcry and Half Life 2 run like charms.

{EDIT} SPEAK OF THE DEVIL! Just received a BSOD, ran the minidump through windbg and it came out as most probably caused by ati2dvag.dll  Anyone who can infiltrate the minidump further to help me with my problem is willing to try.

{EDIT2} Ok So I degraded to 3.1 (my original discs drivers) and everything has gone haywire, windows freezes, restarts everything!!

Answer:Stable catalyst drivers

Ok I'm going to upgrade to 5.5, if I can recall correctly my PC problems all started back when I installed 5.6 before playing San Andreas. Will report on the situation.

{EDIT} Ok so I degraded to 5.5 and tested out Warcraft 3 (primary crasher) and have had no problems, no BSOD's, Farcry looks a bit less exquiste but is still amazing and tranquil as ever. I checked the net, apparently ATI made some major changes when developing cat drivers 5.6 & 5.7. When 5.8 come out later this month I'll give em a go.

I hope I don't have to buy another motheroboard too! Please help, I have run out of ideas and tried everything!!!

Hi all,

I downloaded and installed the new 4.9 version of the Catalyst drivers with the Catalyst Control Center or CCC for short. Thing is that when I install it and to the best of my knowledge I'm installing it correctly this is what I get.

I don't know why it's doing it or how it's doing it. I'm at a complete loss. It almost makes my windows xp home edition machine look like an xp/me hybrid

If anyone has a solution to this problem I'd love to hear it because I can't find out or figure out why it's messin' up. Thanks in advance.

I was wondering if I can use the standard ATI Catalyst driver releases for my T400, or do I have to use the ones released by Lenovo? - Tim

Answer:Can I use standard ATI Catalyst drivers on my T400?

Better you use the ones by Lenovo (Support reasons etc.) but you could possibly try the Mobility Modder for using more recent drivers.Take a look here: Mobility Modder

ATI has released Catalyst 5.2 as an update to Catalyst 4.10 for the ATI Radeon 7000 - 9500 graphic cards. The driver version, however, is still to the text file, and which I've confirmed). It's no big deal, but I'm curious about it. The download site is here.

Hello, thanks for all who have posted some very useful info for the uninitiated! My specs:Cpu - AMD Athlon XP 2600+ 1.9GhzMoBo - Gigabyte GA-7N400-L GPU - ATI Radeon X1650 AGP 512mbRam - 1024MB DDR 400OS - Windows XP Home w/SP3Optical Drives - LG CDRW/Sony DVDRWHard Drives - WD 80GB/Samsung 160GBMy problem:I updated the drivers for my gpu to Catalyst 8.5 a few weeks back, and after this my PC would restart on me when playing any game I own. This happens immediately after a game is loaded, and happened with Half-Life 2, Oblivion, Fear, etc. An attempt to roll back the gpu driver did not fix the issue, though I did have success when I chose to load a system restore point from the previous month. However, after this a Catalyst Control Centre error would appear on boot-up every time. This, along with general clutter after five years, prompted a formatting of my system. Following the format, I've installed/updated every driver that I know of, but I'm still experiencing a restart after trying to load any 3D game. After turning off auto restarts, I received this error code in a BSOD:"STOP: 0x0000008E (0X000001D, 0XE34067C7, 0XA9A3F88C, 0X00000000)After seeing the link for debug analysis and installing the debugger, I got this:Loading Dump File [C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini060708-01.dmp]Mini Kernel Dump File: Only registers and stack trace are availableSymbol search path is: SRV*c:\symbols* search p... Answer:Bsod After Updating Catalyst Drivers

Odd to see this in a generally released driver.
Two suggestions:
1) Uninstall all ATi Drivers and reboot. Try downloading and installing an older, stable version if it's still available
2) Reboot, and keep hitting F8 until you get to the Advanced Options menu. Choose Debugging Mode. Let the BSOD happen and analyze the dump as above. See if it's any different (if so, post it here)
