Asus recovery - Intel driver not signed (but worked before)

Question: Asus recovery - Intel driver not signed (but worked before)

My harddrive went out and I put a new one in. It was a brand new drive and I loaded Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit from my laptop's recovery disk that came with the inital purchase. When I started to add the drivers 2 of them came up as unable to verify the signatures. Most importantly the driver for my Wifi adapter, which is an Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN says this. Windows refuses to run it in that state. So I have no internet and it says that the adapter is not installed or is disabled. When I go into the Device Manager the adapter is there with a yellow "!" and has an error code 52 (for unsigned driver). It shows installed and enabled though

I installed the driver from the intial driver disc and it says unsigned, I was able to get the latest driver from Intel's website and that too says it can't verify the digital signature.

When I boot into the F8 screen and disable driver enforcement I am able to get online.

I'm not sure if this is related or not, but regardless of how I boot, Windows updater and troubleshooters do not work.

I'd appreciate any help.

Preferred Solution: Asus recovery - Intel driver not signed (but worked before)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm having the exact same problem!! Please let me know if/how you got it fixed. Thanks!

Hi all, Following device:ThinkPad E531Graphics: Intel HD 4000System: Win7 Pro Following problem:1) Approx. 2 month ago a windows update caused a problem with the hdmi at my laptop. There was no connection to the TV possible anymore (I tried the TV, the cable and the hdmi device already).2) I installed a new driver (origin: Lenovo support page). Result: Windows messages that the driver is not digitally signed...Hence, the device "vga save" was set. What I've already tried, everything as admin:1) look for older drivers: Got only one and it didn't work2) Tried to install a driver directly from Intel: Didn't work3) Tried to disable the signing (GPEdit.msc -  code signature ...). Here I had the problem that I even have no line with the code signature to set the ignore property4) Tried to install the drivers (Intel and Lenovo) in the testmode. The waring message about unsigned drivers came5) Tried to create a certificate. Here the cmd said the command is not known.6) Tried to install the drivers (Intel and Lenovo) after setting the "TESTSIGNING" off (BCDEdit). The waring message about unsigned drivers came My question:Any ideas or similar experiences?I can not believe that the Lenovo or Intel drivers are not signed. But why Windows does not accept them?Is the available update to Win10 an option? Generally: Failure F40 (the failure is 40 cm in front of the monitor) is not excluded  Thank you very much in advance.Regards,Stefan

This driver (or part of it) is not digitally signed, hence during silent install in SCCM TS Windows 7 x64 it will "hang" waiting to accept the unsigned driver (NOT during Apply drivers, but Sequence that runs setup.exe - I install ALL graphics drivers this way!)

Hi guys,

Got this laptop (Asus F751LN) and it has a 24GB SSD (and a separate 1TB HDD) which I assume is used for data caching. Problem is I looked quite a bit over various threads and forums and didn't found an answer to my question. And that would be "What do I need to install in order to use the SSD as cache?".

Over at Intel's site they have a Windows 10 driver but it is named "Intel Rapid Storage Technology RAID Driver". My laptop doesn't have the option in the BIOS to turn the SATA mode to RAID. I have only AHCI. I assume there should be a way for the SSD to be used as cache in this mode because why would they include it in the laptop if it can't be used. Wouldn't make any sense.

One more thing, I run Windows 10 64 bit currently. Any help will be much appreciated.

Hello,

According to http://nl.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/selected_product_option.jsp?service=NL&ACTION=PRIN T_WITH_BACK&PRODUCT_ID=98584&DISC_MODEL=0

I have an Intel NIC onboard (8256ET to be presise).

I do not have a recovery cd.

I have Win XP Home installed and need to install the latest drivers so Windows fully understands what's on-board.

I want to update the network NIC driver but the suggested download from http://nl.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=NL
does not contain the correct intel lan drivers! The two closest matches (in type-numbering) do not install properly :/

So - how do I get the LAN @ work on my (new:) Toshiba Port?g? M100 1,4Ghz?

Answer:Win XP Home on M100 (no recovery cd) - lan driver intel 82562ET

Hello

I have found out that your unit has:
Type of Network I/F Chip Intel ICH4-M integrated LAN cont & LAN(PHY) is Intel Kinnereth (82562ET). Network driver integrated on imager on recovery CD is Intel? PRO/100 VE V.6.4.14. This driver can be used for WXP Home and Pro.

If you don?t have recovery media do you have at least Tools & Utilities CD?
This driver you can find under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp and after download check ?Readme.txt? file.

Ok problem solvers who love a good challenge,
I'm having issues getting my M6500 to recognize a new Intel 530 SSD in the second drive bay. I have the interposer and bracket installed but the BIOS will not recognize the drive. I have carefully checked that the interposer is plugged onto the drive connectors and that the interposer is seated in the connector on the riser that comes up from the motherboard .
I'm on BIOS A09 and I'm in AHCI mode.
On boot it does not recognize the drive. Hitting F2 for Setup, it only shows my primary drive in the System Information.
Do I need to swap back to RAID in my SATA settings (which I already tried with no luck) and then do something to get the onboard RAID controller to recognize the drive? (this I have not done)
Extra information that may help: I was replacing a Samsung 840 SSD that had been working in the second bay but I was starting to have read issues (In the Event Viewer Application Log I was getting multiple Event ID 51 "An error was detected on device [...] during a paging operation."). So I have had the second bay working before. I even suspect the interposer or riser as a possible problem because one solution to the event ID 51 problem is to replace the SATA "cable". I know the new drive works because I cloned it from the old drive using a USB to SATA connector.
Thanks,Jack

Answer:Precision M6500 will not recognize Intel 530 SSD in second drive bay - worked before with older SSD

Incompatible, you could upgrade to BIOS version 10, and flash the Intel firmware using Solid-State Drive Toolbox 3.2.3, but you would still have the problem. I suspect It is one of the 2 causing the issue though, until this gets patched it will not work.

I plan to upgrade to the listed components all of the rest of the hardware has been determined to be compatible. After the components are switched out I want to verify, my approach of Win 7 Pro installation will work and if not, would someone please correct me and give me advice as to the proper approach? What my idea was after everything is hooked up and ready to install OS, I would turn on enter bios set to boot from cd, and set to AHCI since I'll be reusing my Samsung 840 120GB SSD and leave the rest of the bios set to default at that time. I'll have my Logitech model 520 wireless keyboard with the model 310 wireless mouse which came together. Does this approach seem like it should work especially the wireless keyboard/mouse? I could sure use some corrections for the proper way of installing the OS if not, it would sure be appreciated Thanks!

I have been trying now to install drivers for my Panasonic Digital Camera, which installs itself as a ZIP drive (it uses a 3.5 100MB ZiP disk instead of memory cards), and Fusion Dazzle which is an analog to digital convereter. Both plug in via USB. They used to work perfectly until I had to reformat and reinstall Windows on my computer.

I now get an error message that it is missing certain files (which ARE on the system) and it is looking for "C:\PCLEUSB.drv". When I point it to the correct driver location I get an error message saying that this driver has not been digitally signed to be compatible for Windows XP and will now exit installation.

I am using the most current drivers from the manufacturer and they say that they are Windows compatible and I am the first to have this problem. So far, they have been unable to assist.

Any suggestions?
Ed

Answer:Driver not Windows XP signed

usually the program will ask you if you want to continue, I have never experienced where it just "exited" on it's own. I always continue regardless but it is up to the user.

I'll try to keep this brief:

> Upgraded GFX cards to 2 x Asus EAH4980 (ATI Radeon HD4890 architecture) from NVidia 8800GTS

> Performed full format on HD and reinstalled Windows Vista X64 Home Premium as well as SP1 and SP2

> Installed chipset drivers etc.

> Installed bundled VGA drivers (8.592)

> Installed miscellaneous software/games

System was running very stable and performing well in Benchmarking tests and games. I then tried to update the VGA drivers to the latest versions, first from ATI's own website - Catalyst 9.8 with VGA driver displayed in Device Manager as 8.640 - and then from Asus' website - displayed as 8.630 in Device Manager.

No matter what drivers I update to I am met with BSOD errors as soon as I try to run any kind of media on my PC. The dump files/dxdiag info etc. is attached to this post.

Upon investigation I note that one driver is not loading and is listed as 'not digitally signed', namely

ATKDispLowFilter.sys

This driver is an AsusTek release. It appears to load ok before I perform these driver updates. I can find no reference to any issues with it either on Asus' forums or elsewhere so this doesn't appear to be a common problem.

I've tried to locate a signed version of the driver to no avail.

Any solution would be very much appreciated.

Phil

Answer:driver is not digitally signed

"Not digitally signed" means Microsoft have not tested this driver and verified it to be compatible with Win XP.  This does not mean it will not work, you should click on the "continue anyway" to install your print driver.  If this is a concern you should check the HP web site for newer driver tested by MS.Kim

I recently got a docking station for my laptop (Dell precision M65 w/WinXP Pro SP3 all updates) and when I plugged it in (after all the plug-n-play stuff detected the new docking station stuff), the mouse plugged into the dock USB port would not work (it worked fine previously when plugged into the laptop USB port). I undocked and plugged the mouse back into the laptop's port but it still didn't work.

I went into the device management applet and and tried to update the driver. There was nothing under "Mice and other pointing devices" except the PS/2 touchpad. Under "Human Interface Devices" there was an entry called "HID-Compliant device" If I deleted that device and then did a "scan for hardware changes" I would get the "found new hardware" popup in the tray and then breifly see "Dell USB Optical Mouse" during which the mouse would work but within 2 or 3 seconds it would switch to "HID-Compliant device" and then inform me that my hardware was ready to use at which point the mouse stopped working.

After much screwing around with the device manager and various other USB mice, I found that I could use the "Update Driver" right-click menu item to force the driver to "HID-Compliant mouse" by bypassing all the "Automatic" stuff. This resuted in a working mouse, but I have to do this every time I turn on the laptop.

Answer:thinkpad yoga - limited connection - intel 7260AC (with solution that worked for me)

From what I gathered, about the Y2P Limited Wifi issue, this problem is solved by configurating a router to meet the computer needs. Once done, to fully implement this fix, it is adviced  that you carry this configured router and use it every where you go, like a power cord. When you go to Statbuck in the monrining, be sure they hook up your router and return it when you leave. Alternitively, this can be done at other venues like the airport, hotel, school, work, etc.  I really don't know why people keep wasteing their time. Lenovo has chimed in and said this is a router issue. That said, the aformentioned advice is a formulated fix.  Shall we put an end to thiese topics and get the forum moving again past the wifi issues? Like said many times, this issue has been fixed using the above reccomendation.

My computer suffered a major breakdown about 10 days ago and I mean Major.
I couldn’t access the main hard drive at all and the message was files corrupted and cannot be accessed.
My second HD carried most of my data files and Word documents plus other databases etc. but still a lot of really important stuff was still on the main drive. Despair.
I finally found that the lad who does all the tech. stuff for me had some Data Recovery software. I hotfooted it over to his place with the HD in my bag and he then managed to access it. He said that there was NO FILE SYSTEM on the disk. Is that a clue? How could have been operating for a year or more?
Upshot is that he got almost all my lost data. He then formatted the HD and transferred my files from his machine to the newly formatted HD now with NTFS file system on it. The main disk files were cleared into his computer and then formatted with Win XP Pro.
Belt & braces us Brits - He also put my files on to a few DVD s.
I now have the big HD in the computer as the second HD with one external drive fitted but that has a part-empty 80 Gb HD.
At first it all worked well but there are a couple of mysteries which you may be able to help with.
Yesterday, I tried to download Mozilla-Firefox. It went almost to the end and then the whole machine froze! I had to press the reboot button to get back.
I found there was still a rectangular blue box on the desktop with the Avast logo and "firefox.exe" in it. So.
I removed the Mozi... Read more

Hello,

So I decided to do a system recovery on my laptop. I had Windows Ultimate x64 previously installed and everything worked. I did a system recovery and it took me back to vista. I think, "No problem. Let's go dig out your old 64-bit Windows 7 disc from storage and get this show on the road so I can get back to my oh so meaningful life."

I did a full system recovery, which I assume would be a "clean" install. I updated my monitor and display drivers and tried changing the resolution settings, but it only gives me the option for 16 and 32 bit true color options.

I just find it odd that it worked before and now it doesn't. I have a 64 bit processor, but I have no idea what is wrong. My Windows 7 tech support abilities also conveniently expired so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Side note: Tried re-installing iTunes. After downloading it told me I needed to download the 64 bit version. I'm sure it's some sort of update, but I even tried updating random devices that seemed relevant, but everything is up to date.

Answer:64-bit worked before System Recovery

Hi, I finally have my File System mini-filter driver working great, and tested it a lot on Vista 64-bit using the testsigning boot option. All was fine.

However, when I turn testsigning OFF and try to start the service (the driver), I get the StartService failed with 577 - windows cannot verify the digital signature. Note that the driver in INSTALLED, and the Registry is updated, etc. I just can't start the service (even when running as Admin).

It is signed using a Microsoft cross-certificate, based on the original certificate issued by GlobalSign, as directed in MSDN. You can examine the certificate using the driver's properties, and all looks fine.

I also tried installing the certificate, but that made no difference. This should all be correct, except that it doesn't work!! Any idea what is going on here? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I thought I was all done with this project, but since it doesn't work, I am currently screwed. THANKS!

I have tried everything I can to install the driver but each time I try I get an error that the driver is not digitally signed and it won't install. If I try in safe mode it installs but I get a blue screen upon startup and have to reboot. I do not have the orignial Dell cd but I have tried every driver from the Dell site that should work on this model of computer. I have updated the chip set drivers on the motherboard etc. I just can't get this sound card to work. Any advice??

G'day. I'm trying to install my old VisionPLus DVB-T card into a Windows 7 O/S box and it won't recognise any of the old drivers. When I try to install the TwinHan Digital tv software, Windows can't/ won't install them.

I've downloaded and tried the latest (DigitalTV 3.4 Build 19-02_20090212) and windows comes up with "Driver not found". I've tried to install in compatability mode but still no good.

When installing the above, it identifies my card as “PCI CX-87A with MCU DVB-S/-C/-T/ATSC card”.

Out of all the available drivers on Twinhan's site, which would be the best for my card?

Thanks

The one written for Vista would be my choice, probably not one for W7 yet, may never be.

Looks like MS ha removed a way to disable unsigned drivers protection in Vista64, so probably is the same for 7

Looks like unsigned drivers are a no go for x64 Vista and Windows 7, well there are some workarounds in the article above, sounds like a hassle.
Not sure if this software will work with W7

Hey,

So I just upgrade to Vista x64 and 4GB of memory (courtesy of OCZ).

However, when installing the x64 version of MagicDisc/MagicISO I get the following error:

Can I get around this?

Answer:Required Digitally Signed Driver?

Uhmmm... yes, you can by pressing F8 at boot time and choosing to ignore the warnings about unsigned drivers, but you have to do it each and every time you boot. There is a way to permanently disable that driver signing requirement but I'm leery to give out the info anymore since it hosed a few people's machines recently.

It wasn't my fault that they chose to continue using shitty old drivers, but they blamed me for the mistake they made anyway.

Vista x64 is a more secure and stable OS than the 32 bit version, and that's one of the primary reasons why: the driver signing requirement. Disabling it or 'getting around it' will more than likely end up causing you issues at some point.

Google can find the specific method to disable the signing requirement permanently, or a search here might find it since it's been posted about 3 times over the past 4 months or so.

Good luck, either way...

I got a bad case of the Windows XP Recovery virus and could see nothing but the phony console. I followed the bleepingcomputer instructions at http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-windows-xp-recovery exactly -- RKill, then TDSSKiller, then MBAM,then finally Unhide, running everything from a thumb drive. I have not yet run Secunia PSI. TDSSKiller found nothing, and MBAM found and removed a bunch of infected file. Logs for RKill, TDSSKiller, and MBAM are copied below.Although this seems to have solved most of the problem, most of the simple programs links and all the program links in program folders in my start menu remain missing. So are all the program shortcuts on my desktop. The programs themselves -- the few that I have checked -- seem to be still in place, and I can start them by double-clicking their .exe files in the Program Files directory. Is there any way to get them back? There are dozens of them. Are the program links on the Start menu just shortcuts (with icons in some cases)? Was there perhaps some failure in unhiding shortcuts?Oh, one more curious thing. The only programs that remained on the Start menu were Notepad and MS Internet Explorer. Explorer says all of its add-ons are disabled, though if you click on the bar to manage add-ons, they say that they are enabled.Subsequently to the above, a ran a full scan using Microsoft Security Essentials. Service at Dell is much worse than a joke...They have no regard for their customers. The following is a taste of my experience today:
The level of incompetency at Dell is STAGERING!!!!This is the USUAL INCOMPETENT reaction I have come to expect from DELL!!!!Their Back up & Recovery System has not worked for me (ever), and when my computer (an XPS 8700) was still in Warranty, their tech, Jonel (in India, 12-29-2014) could not handle a fix for it...General Incompetency...So, I have never been able to make a backup or recovery discs. Dell will NOT take responsibility for their POOR products or the incompetency of their staff!!!  I just spent 45 minutes and was transferred 4 or 5 times from the Philippines to India, to India, to India, etc., etc. The last Tech I talked with was Anusha (in India...that is all the identifying information one can get) I was upset at the run around I've been getting from Dell, expressed that and she hung up on me. There is no satisfaction to be gained when dealing with Dell!!!!!!! The only logical thing to do is to find an ALTERNATIVE SUPPLIER to DELL!!!!!!

Hi everyone.  I have two Lenovo Ideapad Y530's.  I am having trouble, yet again, with one of them that I have already had to use the One Key Recovery on twice before to restore to factory defaults.  It seems that my Vista OS just gets corrupted somehow every so often. Anyway, I have recovered the system to factory defaults using One Key Recovery at least 4-5 times but it keeps blue screening.  The One Key Recovery goes on without a hitch, Windows starts up and lets me create a new account and I get logged in, then as I'm trying to do stuff I get a pop up window that says "SYSCMU has stopped working", then another one that says "Windows Explorer has stopped working" and then it crashes and blue screens. One thing that I'm wondering is, the disks that I am using were sent to me when I was having problems with my other system and had to recover that one.  At the time, Lenovo customer service told me I could use these recovery disks with either one of my systems but now I'm wondering if the recovery disks they send you (and WHY don't they ships these things with your system in the first place?  I had to call and have them sent to me!) are tied to a specific system. Any help is greatly appreciated.  I don't want to have to call support unless absolutely necessary.

Answer:One Key Recovery Worked But System Keeps Crashing

Based on what i understand is that the data on the recovery partition is corrupted already. that's why even when you do the recovery, errors are still there. the best thing you can do is bring it to the service center.. they can load it with a new recovery partition.

If you have a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 and you install a driver that has a Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) or Authenticode signature on the computer.
But in Device Manager, when you expand the corresponding device, right-click the driver, and then click Properties and then click the Driver Details button on the Driver tab, you may find that the driver file is displayed as unsigned! This issue occurs because of incorrect logic when the Authenticode flag in the catalog file of the driver is checked.
To fix this issue download and apply this hotfix from KB2619914.

I am having a heck of a time. I have installed Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit and the ASUS P5QC mobo I have came with an unsigned 64 bit Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet Controller

I called ASUS tech support and talked to them and as of this time, they have only a beta version of the 64 bit signed driver. Vista is not accepting the driver and is considering it as unsigned, so I am left without a computer that can connect to the net.

I have searched hi and low all over the internet to see if I could buy a wired ethernet adapter which has a 64 bit signed driver, but all of the ethernet cards I have been able to find are only compatible with the 32 bit version of Vista or they only have unsigned drivers for their ethernet cards. This is really frustrating!

Does anyone know here WHO (what manufacturer, make, model) of a wired ethernet adapter card 10/100 or 10/1000/1000 (that does not cost a fortune - is retail version, not industrial or commercial)
I might be able to purchase that has the appropriate signed drivers - or

Does anyone here know HOW to disable the signed driver enforcement in Vista Home Premium 64 Bit with SP1? I understand it was possible to do it at one time, but since Microsoft HEXED us with two patches, that route has been disabled. Hi

The last few times I started my computer, the system comes with the warning:

"Windows requires a digitally signed driver
Driver: Broadcom NetDetect Driver
Service: BASFND
Publisher: Broadcom Corporation
Location: C:\Program Files\Bra...\BASFND.sys"

Windows suggests to uninstall the program or device that uses this driver and check the publishers support site to get a digitally signed driver.

The problem is that I have no idea of which program or hardware is using this driver. All the drivers I have installed in my computer are from the computer manufacturer.
I have also been at Broadcoms homepage and there is plenty of things to download there. But I dont want to ruin anything.

Suggestions on what to do?

System: Windows Vista 64

Answer:Windows requires a digitally signed driver

Broadcom is your onboard ethernet, I don't see why it would suddenly complain unless there was an update.:confused You can disable driver signing but it only cures the symptom and not the cause.

A signed driver is not necessary in Windows. It is an extra security layer, as drivers can become corrupt by malware. If you obtained the driver from a trusted source (like the device manufacturer's website), you can go ahead and tell Windows to install it.

I recently purchased a new pc that came with win vista 64 bit premium home installed. I am now reloading all my old programs and I keep getting ?windows requires a digitally signed driver" error message. I also can't seem to play my old movie files, all of which played fine when I had Win XP. Apparently Vista does not want me to make my own decisions, so I am wondering how I might go about disabling all this extra secure vista crap. Can I go into Control panel and disable the BitLocker Drive Encryption? Or do I need uninstall 64bit and install the Vista 32 bit? Would that be a smooth transition? Would all my stuff work again if I had the less securitized 32bit Vista? Thanks for any help you may provide.

Answer:windows requires digitally signed driver

Welcome to the Vista forums

1) You don't want to disable UAC (User Account Control) as it does a lot to protect your computer from various malware. If you really feel the urge to turn it off, then you can in control panel in the User Account section. Once turned off, you'll get the red shield in the bottom right saying it's disabled. Disable security warnings by opening security centre and going to "change how security centre warns me" or something and choose the "no warnings" option.

2) Just download the Vista codec pack (just Google it and you should find it) and DivX and you should have no problems watching videos.

3) You can install unsigned drivers on Vista 64 bit, do this by running an elevated command prompt (right click on command prompt in Start menu and click "run as administrator".

Type this and press enter bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

When you reboot, you should be able to install unsigned drivers.
Also, I looked on the HP website for your computer, and it has 6GB RAM, so going to Vista 32bit would only allow you to use about 3.5GB RAM. I also saw it only has an Nvidia 6150e onboard graphic card. Are you using this? As if you upgraded this to a graphic card, you'd notice better performance on Vista as well.

MAIN Problem #1:

Hi I'm wondering if anyone knows if i can find a Microsoft Certified Display adapter/video card driver (are those the same thing?) for my :
ASUS AGP-V7100 Geforce2 MX video card.

runnig win98/SE on a VIA chipset

The reason i ask is because when i look at my drivers through the DirectX diagnostic tool 's display tab it shows my driver as 'nvdisp.drv' and in the 'notes' sections adds :

" The file nvdisp.drv is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs. You may be able to get a signed driver from the manufacturer of the hardware device"

but when i look through the ASUS home page i can't find my video card. I know my driver is from NVIDIA and i've found the right page to update from them but i'm also wanting to update my chipset driver from VIA and they warn of compatibility problems with NVIDIA so i'm looking for a "signed" "certified" or "standard" adpater/driver?

Windows Vista x64 decided to implement a 'security measure' by which all drivers must be 'digitally signed' to be allowed to install and run. I have a program which is compatible with Vista and x64 bit operating systems, however as its drivers are not digitally signed I cannot run it correctly - I recieve the message 'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' and access to the driver is blocked.

Is there a method of bypassing this?

Answer:'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' - How can I bypass this?

When you boot your system hit F8 and you can bypass it there. You will have to do this every boot. There are a couple applications out there that will do this for you but the names escape me right now.

I have x220 with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Device manager shows under Storage Controllers "Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC host controller," but there is a yellow triangle with "!" and a Device Status Code 52 message "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device." I checked in C:\Drivers\WIN\Multicard and found two *.cat files--which, I understand, are required to confirm digital signature. Each of them (ridisk.cat and risdxc.cat) has a signed and valid certificate! So what is going on? Will the card reader work? Is there something wrong with how Windows 7 is treating the Ricoh driver, which I downloaded from the Lenovo site? Why should I be getting this grief?

Try deleting the Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC host controller from the Device Manager and then restarting the computer in order to let the Device Manager re-detect it and re-install the device drivers.  Does that solve the problem?

Hello,
I'm at my wits end. Anyone who can help would be my hero.

Acer 5253 laptop, Win7 Home Premium 64bit SP1, AMD C-50.

Trying to use a USB mouse. I have 3 logitech mice. None work because hidclass.sys and hidusb.sys are not digitally signed. If I f8 and disable driver signing enforcement, all 3 mice work, so I'm pretty certain that's the issue.

Tried "Update Driver" via device manager. Windows determined that I already had the best driver and wouldn't do anything.

Logitech does not furnish drivers for Win7. They rely on the native drivers.

Acer does not furnish mouse drivers. They refer you to the manufacturer of the mouse.

Tried copying the files in question from a 64bit machine that showed them to be digitally signed. Renamed the ones on my machine and pasted the ones from the "good" machine. Resolved nothing.

chkdsk /r found problems and repaired them. Didn't help.

sfc /scannow found problems that it could not resolve. Looked in CBS.log and found no references to either of the sys files in question. No resolution.

System Restore only had one restore point, and it was from 2 days ago. Problem was already noticed by then. I suspect that it's been this way since I purchased the laptop a couple of months ago anyway, but if there had been a restore point back at the very beginning, I'd have tried that.

Hi,

This is my first post on these forums, so please excuse me if anything is wrong.

Details of the problem: I have a Sony VAIO laptop that runs Windows 7 Home Premium x64. I recently downloaded the same version from digital river that has SP1 included and installed it on my laptop. I installed the drivers that I had downloaded from sony's esupport site which went fine. After I rebooted and tried to install the rest of the drivers, I started getting the Code 52 error: Windows cannot verify the signature of this driver. I've seen that every driver can be installed immediately after the system has been booted the first time (after a clean install). Once rebooted, it starts giving the code 52 error. I can't install my iPhone drivers (through iTunes) or PS3 utilities because of this. I'm wondering what changes during the first reboot. I must also say that these very same drivers were used on the previous build of Win 7 HP that I was using except that it did not have SP1 integrated.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I know that the digital signature check can be disabled using bcdedit.exe but I want Windows 7 to work the way it should: it should stop me from using unsigned drivers while installing signed drivers correctly. Does any one have any clue to what's going on with my Win7 on my laptop?

Hi ajayav, Welcome to Sevenforums.

Boot into Advanced Boot Options and disable driver signing checking.

The Advanced Boot Options screen lets you start Windows in advanced troubleshooting modes. You can access the menu by turning on your computer and pressing the F8 key before Windows starts.

Disabling driver signature enforcement has helped a lot of users in fixing the issue.

You may also delete the USB "Upper Filter" & "Lower Filter" Entry and check if that helps.

Hello,
I have in my possession an Asus X550CA laptop which was running Windows 8.1 before it failed to boot. The machine cycled through the automatic repair, failed, and then did nothing. The advanced bootup options were useless, including chkdsk, sfc and the usual suspects. The recovery partition was apparently missing, atleast, I couldn't use it, but doing a diskpart confirmed it was there so I suspect the 8.1 upgrade broke the link to it.

I tried the "refresh your PC" option, but this told me the drive was locked, and disabling secure boot via the BIOS did nothing (thought it would at first). In addition, the reset your PC option wanted recovery media which I didn't have at the time.

I ordered the official Asus recovery DVDs as the laptop did not have media created when it was new, hit F9 and went to the "reset your PC' option, but it told me the recovery media wasn't valid. Odd given it's official Asus media from Mentor Media, for that specific machine.

From the legacy BIOS I booted from the DVD, it loaded the Asus specific Windows 8 recovery options from the disk and I get as far as "Start rebuild Windows system process", with "processing...." underneath and the machine does no more.

I've also tried UEFI booting from the DVD drive and get the same as above.

Any suggestions welcome please!

Regards.

Answer:Unable to restore Asus X550CA using Asus recovery DVDs

Is the ASUS recovery media Windows 8.0 or 8.1? It may be because the recovery disks are 8.0 and it's a conflict because your now running 8.1. The 8.0 to 8.1 upgrade does break the factory recover feature on some laptops. ASUS for sure I think. I have a K75DE, that shipped with Windows 8.0. I clean installed with Windows 8.1 from here, Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help. It reads and uses my 8.0 OEM embedded code and activates online automatically. no muss no fuss. That tool will create a bootable USB thumb drive that will work with UEFI for you. If you need any more info just ask and i'll see if I can help. I don't know why your getting the "Start rebuild Windows system process" message and the lock up? It may be because the partition structure has changed on the Drive. I created a Recovery drive, then swapped in an SSD and it would not work on the SSD. It kept saying required partition missing. That's why I bailed and did a clean install. I was leaning in that direction anyway.

EDIT: If I don't get back to you tonight don't panic. I have company coming and may not get back online until tomorrow morning. Have to go now.

Truefully, playing with it as it had been replaced. Everything seemed to be fine. Restored to factory defaults more than once and was feeling comfortable that unit was stable. Next prepared to transfer personal files and windows would not load. Tried system repair disk, a complete failure, then in BIOS restore defaults, again no luck, eventually was able to access system restore at bootup-ESC. Restore process slow, ran system diagnostics Hard Drive Test and receivedFailure ID: RGAM53-5MN8HN-MFH15G-60UU03.

Answer:unit worked fine until after system recovery to factory stat...

The hard drive has failed/is failing and will need to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If not a retail laptop SATA hard drive can be used. Just be sure to get one of at least equal capacity as the original in order to use Recovery Discs to install Windows. It can be larger, but not smaller capacity. For instance if you have a 500GB hdd you could use a 750GB hdd but not a 320GB hdd.

To be on the safe side, reckon the download was ruined by some kind of malicious software. Perhaps on your system.Ask a friend to download it and see if he gets the same thing.EDIT:Just did download from the majorgeeks. Works on both XP and Vista. Scanned with Avast and no threat found. You have malware. Or a bad download.

Hey everyone,

I found this driver update on MajorGeeks (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4404.html) and I can't tell if it worked or not

If I go into Device Manager the driver version says 5.621.304.2005, which makes me think it didn't work because the driver version is supposed to 6.21 not 5.621. However, I may just be reading the version number wrong. I notice that it says 2005 and the driver date is 3/4/2005 which seems recent.

So, did it work? And if it did, how are you supposed to read those driver version numbers? What does each number signify, if you know what I mean?

Thanks for the help.

Hi all,
I am wondering how do I digitally sign my driver so that it can be installed on a Win7 Ultimate SP1 in a VMWare virtual machine. I have used Visual Studio 2013 to sign my driver and cat files using a certificate I obtained from GlobalSign. Both of these
files passed the signtool check, but when trying to install in this virtual machine it generates an error code 52.
Thanks in advance for any help

Hello All, I recently decided to reinstall Vista home premium 32 bit with a formatted drive, and everything has been going great... until I tried to reinstall the audio drivers for my motherboard. These same drivers worked just great before, and I'm unsure why they are causing issues now.

Specifically, this is for a P5N32-E SLI mother board with the sound add on that comes with it. Vista recognizes the audio component as a "PCI Device" and cannot find any drivers automatically for it. The motherboard CD, when attempting to install the sound drivers, says something along the lines of "Your hardware does not appear to be compatible with this driver software."

When I installed these drivers when I first bought the motherboard, vista simply recognized the drivers off of the motherboard CD and installed it automatically. No such dice this time around

Any ideas?

I have a Mobility Radeon 7500, and the only driver that works properly with Vista/7 is a modded DNA driver. Something went wrong and at startup the computer couldn't get past the moving Windows loading thing, so I uninstalled the driver. The last thing I did was play San Andreas and put the laptop in standby (when San Andreas froze up with a black screen). Now when I reinstall the driver Windows freezes in the same place.

This is NOT official HP Customer Support and I, as most other persons on this forum, do not work for HP. This is a peer-to-peer user supported forum for HP products. HP maintains no official presence on this forum and it is unlikely that HP will respond in an official capacity. Any reply from a HP employee represents their own opinion and not that of HP's. It appears you have the latest production release of the Intel Graphics Driver for Windows 10. The only other driver listed on Intel's support website is 14.40.26.4474 which is a BETA version. This BETA driver doesn't appear to address the issue you are having. HP hasn't made it difficult to update the driver. The Intel driver installer is what is telling you it can't install the driver. This is because there is a customized version of the driver on the computer and replacing it with a generic driver may cause issues or loss of functionality of the hardware. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Please click the White KUDOS "Thumbs Up" to show your appreciation

Do you have the latest version of the Intel 100 Series Chipset Driver to go along with the updated ME and USB3 drivers?
If not, install the chipset first, reboot and test the rodents. Assuming they still work correctly, update the other 2 drivers, one at a time, rebooting in between each install, and testing the mouse wheel. If nothing else, you might figure out which driver is the offender.
Make sure you still have a suitable System Restore point before updating anything.

Hello,

sorry for starting a NEW topic, but after a quick search I couldn't find something similar. I will describe you my problem, so you can understand what is going on. Previous summer I upgraded my computer to a more up to date with 8GB RAM. Inevitably, I had to backup my data and install 64-bit version of Windows 7. I could install and use most of my devices, except an old Pinnacle Studio Pro analogue TV tuner PCI card. After some search, I managed to find custom 64-bit drivers fot BT848/BT878 cards and instructions of how to sign them, so I could use them in normal mode. After following the instructions the drivers worked fine in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit! OK, the original application Pinnacle Vision didn't work since it looks exclusively for Pinnacle's own 32-bit driver, but I could use the card in Nero Vision, Pinnacle Studio Pro, VirtualDub etc.

How did the problem arised: I recently upgraded the computer to Windows 8 and then to 8.1 so I have the latest version. Some devices were replaced with Microsoft drivers and others were not installed. I downloaded latest OEM drivers and managed to make all devices work at their full potential again, except the Pinnacle TV tuner. I went to advanced startup options and loaded Windows 8.1 in the mode that ignores driver signature. I then attempted to manually install the custom BT848 64-bit drivers from Device Manager, since there was no setup program. As you may know, the card appears as two devices in Device Manager. One fo... Read more

man am I lost. Win XP Pro SP3 on HP DC7100 3Ghz P4, 762mb Ram, 80 gb seagate.

I had this system working perfectly until Documents & Settings got messed up and started making duplicates of user accounts. wiped the drive, reformatted the slow way. Loaded Windows XP Pro SP3, as before. When I went to HP's support page, I was mystified that the Audio Driver was not listed. Went on Chat support and inquited. They say the audio Codec is ADI 1981B and to go there and get driver. So I did that. no worky.
Caused BSOD/dump.

I removed the video card. Booted in normal mode and it BSOD'd again. Booted into Safe Mode and it came up. Checked the Device Manager and it shows Realtek AC'97 installed with driver loaded [for first time].
I did change the IRQ settings in between these two bootups.

The baffling thing is that it all worked swell previously. i don't even recall a hiccup of any kind in loading the various drivers.
some gremlin in my office sabotaging devices!

Do I need to go into the registry and remove every entry relating to audio devices? how?

Answer:Solved: BSOD installing ADI 1981B Audio Driver. it worked before.. why now?

Go back to the HP support page and scroll down the page to the driver listings. Find the section for "Driver - Chipset" (below the BIOS and Diagnostic listings). The link is titled "Intel Chipset Support for Microsoft Windows". When you find it, click the black "Download" button to the RIGHT, and the chipset driver pack will download to your system. Save it to the Desktop, or some other place where you can find it easily.

The file name is "SP28061.exe"; it is less than 6 MB, so it should download quickly. Find the file and double-click it; the installer will run and replace your existing motherboard chipset drivers. Next, REBOOT THE SYSTEM; do NOT avoid rebooting. Windows will need to reboot to finish deleting the old files and installing the new ones.

Once you get back to the Desktop, test your sound and check Device Manager for problems (yellow exclamation marks). If everything is working properly, you got a bit lucky. If not, reinstall the ADI 1981B drivers again, and REBOOT, so Windows can get everything in order again.

After that, your sound problem should be fixed; let us know how this turns out.

As we know... After upgrading to Win 8.1 on G580, no HD audio/graphics driver for Intel HD 4000 is available in the driver matrix and device (w/Dolby V2) fails to operate. I am not watching any HD movies on my G580, but the missing HD driver also kills any graphics driver function, which does affect my work. Windows defaults to MS Default Video Graphics device, as listed in driver detail in Device Manager- where the Intel HD 4000 has a bang. The Dolby V2 launches a Find Hardware wizard at every reboot, I finally installed it. On 10/17/2013 Intel released the driver package for Intel HD 4000 for Win 8.1. On 11/14/2013 I found this installer digging around at Intel. However, it fails. (NoNo! Contact OEM message) Fortunately there is an SDK version for Lenovo to work with on the same page. So, Lenovo, are you aware of the new device driver at Intel? I need my Intel HD 4000 graphics adapter to work.

Hello, I had the unfortunate experience that my new L540 with factory installed Windows 7 64 bit professional dropped wireless connections after several minutes. This could only be correct be restarting the wireless driver. It took me about 5 hours to discover that the driver contains a known bug. I was almost at the point of returning the laptop as being defect until I found through google: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS036007 hidden on this page is the text  that the driver version there fixes the dropping of connection. None of the update software on the laptop suggested updating this driver and the above page is not so easy to find, or recognize that this is needed at first glance. After applying the above update the WLAN now works without problems. Googling reveals that I do not seem to be the only person with this problem, and the ones I found did not manage to find the solution to their problems. Rene.

I had this same issue right out of the box.  After fighting the dropping wifi connection for 5 days I rent to Intel's site and downloaded the driver inspection tool from http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/wireless and let it do its magic.  It downloaded and installed the new driver.  Going on day 2 with the new driver with no problems at all.

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has been having the same issue.

Windows 7 x64 series 8 motherboard. ASUS z87-expert.

My USB3 and USB2 are not working right after I install the Intel USB3 xhci Driver for Intel? 8/9 Series
version 3.0.1.41.

I have used the setup.exe to install the driver and the mouse/keyboard stopped working after the drivers are updated and I am not able to click the "Finish" button on the GUI to complete the installation.

Luckily that I was able to remote login to the PC to click the "Finish" button. After restart, the USB ports starts to work again.

Answer:USB port not working Intel USB3 xhci Driver for Intel® 8/9 Series

Welcome to SevenForums,

It is a little normal that during the process of updating the drivers, it does disconnect the devices plugged onto ports, to swap drivers and write the files in order the new drivers to work. It does remap the devices.

It is always better to uninstall previous USB 3.0 drivers and use a usb 2.0 port to control temporarily another mouse to finish the process and the reboot required. Could be Intel xHci or AsMedia XHci ones...same same.

I have IdeaPad Z480 with Windows 7 installed. I had installed all latest drivers from lenovo site. Then I updated Intel Graphics HD driver to latest version: v15.28.12.64.2932 (9.17.10.2932) from Intel site and then I got problems: the brightness always revert to last brightness level (before updating Intel Graphics driver) when booting. Also, the brightness slider in Control Panel -> Power Options doesn't work anymore. Reinstall Energy Management driver doesn't solve the problem. I suspect there is incompatibility issue in Lenovo Energy Management driver with the new Intel Graphics HD driver.

Answer:Satellite L300-B13 - Can I install Intel graphic driver from Intel page?

The non-Toshiba drivers can be used ONLY at your own risk.
So it?s your choice if you want to use such drivers.

But installation is possible only from the device manager. You have to download the driver package firstly and then you have to update the driver from the device manger.
Then choose ?Advanced? installation and point to the driver which you have downloaded!
