I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Kodak SD camera card that my Sony A230 stopped detecting when inserted. I have been using this card for a year with no problems till today. I can plug it in a card reader in any of my computers and remove or send photos to it so I don't think it is a contact issue. I was using the camera today when the battery became exhausted and it shut off during a shoot. Since then the camera won't detect it. What could the problem be?

Answer:Camera Card Not Detected in Sony A230 Camera

Just a wild guess at this point ... Might need to have the camera reformat the card

I have an 8GB sd card i used while traveling and upon trying to get the pictures from it the computer does not recognize the card at all, no prompts, nothing. I have tried it in multiple pcs and macs and no response. My Cannon Rebel XS camera says no images found. However, when I plug it into my brother's Cannon PowerShot it actually recognizes and shows all pictures on the card. Does anyone have any reason why this is happening and how I can recover the pictures? I am not willing to just format to make the card work again, I must have these pictures.

Answer:SD Card not recognized in computer but recognized on camera

Have you tried leaving the card in the camera and attaching to the computer to d/l the pictures that way. I have an Olympus camera and the pictures will d/l fine with the card left in the camera.

When I plug in the camera, the pc ding a lings, but when I go to file explorer it shows everything on the pc like normal. I click on "this PC" and it shows the c drive and the DVD . No removable drive like camera. I've done a google search and it is a common problem with win 10. But what is the answer?

I have Windows XP and just installed service pack 2--I have a Nikon coolpix 2500 and when I connected the camera to the PC (HP) with the USB cable I always got 4 or 5 options for downloading. I also got a message that said the computer recognized that hardware was connected. Today when I tried to download pictures I got the sound that something was connected but no message and no change on the screen. I went to the control panel and with the camera attached and turned on I clicked on the icon with nikon coolpix and the computer said there was no camera. I also tried with a card reader and even though the light was on there was still no connection. Any suggestions?
Thank you

Did you install anything other than SP2?

Have you uninstalled SP2 and tried it?

Does the computer recognize the reader? If so what happens when you plug the card into the reader?

Suddenly my camera is not recognized when I connect it to my computer. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I'm totally frustrated and need some help. I've spent hours trying to resolve this. Can anyone help?

I've had my Fuji Finepix F700 for a couple of years. Never a problem till now. I love this camera. Running Windows XP SP2. Fuji site says it's a Windows autoplay issue. Can't figure out how to access that and since the camera isn't being recognized, not sure that's really the issue.

On my first time transferring photos from Sony digital camera to desktop via USB since updating from Win 8 Pro x64 to 8.1, the camera is not recognized. When I didn't see the photos in Picassa (import), I checked a file manager and the drive wasn't there. Not in Windows Photo Viewer either. Shows in Device Mgr and driver up to date. Is Media Center needed for any of this, as I didn't update it because I don't use it or WMP (tho the latter is still installed). Thanks,

Update: According to the Sony support site, Sony eSupport - Driver Update for USB Charging with a Windows 8.1 PC, a driver has been released. Not sure where they were during the preview period, but my 8.1 is up to date so the driver must not yet have been released, at least by MS

Ok so ive been having this problem for about 2 months. I use cleaning up/tune up software and perhaps it might have deleted some important things! anyway, whenever i connect my camera or my phone it makes 3 beeps (sorta the same beep sound when usb is connected, but 3 times!) And it doesn't show up on computer or Camera and scanners (under control panel) i connected a flash drive and it worked fine, so the usb slot is okay. and i tried it on another computer and it was fine! its so frustrating though, never had any problems with this before

When I first got the computer, when I plugged in a digital camera, I got a "found new hardware" pop-up, thereafter when plugging in the USB cable, the XP camera wizard popped up and the pictures were downloaded without a fuss. At some point it stopped working, and I've ended up using Picassa to get the images d'ld, but it won't let me add photos to an existing folder. I want the Windows wizard to work again, that was better.

My new camera is not recognized at all, and if anything pops up, it's Explorer. I tried to install drivers from the disc that came with the camera, but keep getting a message that says I don't need to. I've tried to manually add the camera with the "add hardware" function, but it won't work.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I connected a Sony DSC-P10 camera to my PC. It was 'seen' and installed in the usual P+P fashion. It is visible in Device Manager but not in Explorer. Any ideas please?

Answer:Sony Camera

I'm not sure, but I think you have to use the Sony software to download the pictures from the camera. I have an old DSC-P70 and never download directly from the camera. I find a card reader much more convenient.

Im using a DCR TRV 900 sony camera and im trying to capture video from it and import it onto a computer but its not being recognized. Windows movie maker says there is no camera attached to the computer, Adobe premiere and iMovie HD is saying the same thing. The wire is connected, its turned on, the tapes fine, Ive restarted it and I dont think the firewire ports for both my PC and Mac are broken.

Anyone know how I can fix this?

Answer:Camera Not Being Recognized By Any Prgrm, XP, or mac

Interesting---Check under System Properties/Hardware/Device Manager and make sure that the ieee1394 devices show. The fact that it is happening with both the PC and the Mac leads me to bleieve that its a bad wire (often a problem) or the firewire port on the TRV900 is beat.

I own a TRV900 and it should be plug and play on both operating systems.

Hi,

I have a JVC GR-D73U digital video camera. I have it connected to my computer with a firewire cable. I am using Windows Movie Maker to capture video from the camera. The problem is that Moviemaker recognizes the camera but will not capture the video. The camera can be controlled through Moviemaker, but there is nothing on the preview screen. I have checked Device manager and the AVC compliant DV Camera is in the Imaging Devices and the IEEE 1394 Host Controller is there.

What could be the problem? The same issue when using PowerProducer.

Any assistance would be MUCH appreciated.

I have also tried uninstalling the software and all the other software programs that came on this disc and reinstalling and that hasn't worked. Apparently the company no longer exists since their domain name is now for sale. I have also search a few sites and cannot come up with anything.
No error comes up it just says make sure your camera is turned on and that it is plugged in to the usb . It worked a couple months ago. Anyone have any thought on this?

I've tried both and it still wont see the camera. Also tried to add scaner/camera, No LUCK. P.S. running windows xp.

Answer:Solved: camera not recognized

You need to check your manual, I think the Canon requires you to turn the camera on then press the Triangle (like Play icon) to activate the USB, my Fuji camera is like that as well. If you can't find it post your model and I will find the manual on line for you.

I recently purchased a Sony MicroVault 2GB flash drive. It works fine on my home system (HP Pavilion, Windows Vista Home Premium), but is not recognized on my work system (HP Compaq, Windows XP Pro, SP2). It flashes for about a nano second, a little window in my tray pops up to tell me a new driver is installed. However, I can't locate it in My Computer or Windows Explorer.

My drives at work are: C: hard drive, D: DVD/CD-RW, F:, H:, J:, K:, T: are my network drives. When I plug in a different flash drive, it goes to Drive E. The solution offered to Drjboulder on 23 Feb 07 doesn't work for me. I tried live online support at Sony, but the tech didn't even offer me that solution. Just told me it must be a Compaq problem and to go to their website for help. ( He also had problems forming coherent sentences ... )

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Okay, so I disabled my touchpad on my Sony Vaio laptop because the heel of my hand would always touch the touch pad and cause the cursor to appear in an odd place. Thus, causing typing problems and whatnot.

So I disabled the touch pad. I would just use my Microsoft wireless mouse.

However, recently I was having a major hard drive problem. So I bought a new SSD and reinstalled windows 7 with my Vaio restore discs. I figured the touch pad should be working since I reinstalled the entire OS on a new hard drive.

But during installation, the Sony Vaio restore wizard was asking me to point and click certain options to restore my system and I was not able to use the touch pad. It was STILL DISABLED!

I figured that a system restore would restore my laptop to factory defaults. Thus, alowing me to use the touch pad that I had disabled. But it didn't.

I was able to navigate the restore options via the TAB and ENTER keys.

But then I found out that somehow my laptop remembered the drivers for my wireless mouse during the restore process. I plugged in my mouse and it worked! What?! Why??

I also plugged in a wireless keyboard that I have. And it didn't even have to install any drivers for the keyboard nor the mouse!!

But I was performing a system restore. How does it remember my wireless keyboard and mouse? and still remember to disable the touch pad?

Is there some sort of motherboard memory that laptops have?

Answer:Sony Vaio touchpad not recognized

The Touchpad is disabled in Setup (Bios) a part of the motherboard, before Windows loads. A USB Keyboard and Mouse use the standard USB drivers inherent in Windows. Any USB device, keyboard, mouse, Flash Drive etc get recognized automatically.
If you would like to enable the touchpad, boot into Setup (Bios) and go to Integrated Peripherals and look for Touchpad and if it is disabled using your Enter and Arrow keys, Enable it. Save and Exit.

I have just bought the new Sony DSC T1 Camera and everything seems to be going fine, but I can't understand the manual's directions about disconnecting the camera from the computer after the files have been downloaded. Can't I just remove the camera from the cradle? I tried following the directions (p 80 of the manual)about double-clicking the icon on the task tray, selectin Sony DSC and clicking OK, but things seem to freeze at that point. There is an egg-timer in the window, but nothing happens.Eventually I turned off the power on the camera and removed it from the cradle. I would like to leave the cradle in situ and just fit in the camera when I want to download. Can I do this?

How to Enable Autorun for Removable Media in Windows 7:

1.In Windows 7,Click the Start Button and select the control panel. Make sure that control panel open up under the default view.

2.You should actually click on ?Hardware and Sound? --> the ?Autoplay? options on the next screen.

3.At the top, check "Use Autoplay for all devices" and Click Save button.

Also, take a look at this site for more information!

I am doing a reserch paper, and my teacher told me that there was a Sony security camera which came out over two years ago. He said that it was a really good night time security system, but the fault was that in the daytime it showed the people without clothes. Anyways, does anyone know about this camera, and what it is/was called? Also, do you know exactly when it came out and where I can find information about it?
Thank you!

Answer:sony security camera

firsttimer,

Welcome to TSG

Think the teacher is the one that needs to do the reserch on it as it is not true. Sony came out with the video cameras that could see very very good when it was very dark and some how then others started saying you could see tru what people were wearing and it was like x-ray vision.

also not all the functions are working.

Thanks

Answer:sony camera driver

"I tried to install one of the 2 drivers from the support site but in vain"

You need to download and install both files listed for the camera on the Sony website.
They are both applications, not drivers. Both are required to make the camera usable in Windows 7.
The driver is already installed from the Windows 7 DVD, which is why Sony don't provide one.
They just provide the camera applications which have been updated to make them Windows 7 compatible.

I'm trying to upload pictures from my camera to my computer. (The first time). I installed software named "Picture Package" and the manual says that USB driver will be installed at the same time when PP. But when I use the USB cable and connect my camera to the computer, it says "Windows was unable to locate the software for this device". Oh and I use WinME.

I tried to reinstall it a few times, but no luck. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know how to solve it?

Hi guys, I need a little help.

I have a Kodak Easyshare Camera DX4330. For some reason, the camera is not transferring its pictures. When I plug the camera into the USB port and turn it on, a small screen comes up and says it is retrieving contents and recognizes the camera. However it does not automatically transfer. So I tell the camera to "transfer now" and it says a camera could not be found.

Now here's where it gets weird: when I turn on my printer, it recognizes the printer as the camera and wants to transfer the photos out of the printer. I click "OK and it always says "Transfer interrupted. The file exists but may be damaged." And that is the end of it. I've tried it with the camera plugged in simultaneously and with just the printer. The results are the same.

The printer I own is an HP PSC 2175 All-In-One. I've had this printer for about a year and the camera slightly longer. The two have coexisted without any problems until recently. I'm using Windows XP. I haven't installed any new components onto this computer to cause this. The Kodak EasyShare software is Vers. 3.4.0. I have tried updating both the camera and printer drivers and the problem persists.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.
Elie

The software itself is functional, however recently I had to download a Norton patch to once again permit use of the Canon ZoomBrowser EX software. This problem occured after I recently updated the Norton software. Do you think this is still a problem w/ Norton?

Please help!! Thanks very much.

I just upgraded to Windows 8 Consumer Preview and I've noticed that the camera applications aren't recognizing my onboard laptop webcam. If I run the ASUS webcam utility it works just fine, facebook/etc as well. It's only seems to be the metro apps that won't recognize it.

Anyone else having this problem?

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi,
I have an HP Pavilion 2317 running Vista SP2, business edition. I'm not sure when this problem started but I just realized I was having a problem. A while back, I tried to open a flash drive, and got an access denied message. Having burnt out my share of flash drives, I assumed I'd just zapped another. Now I'm not sure that's what happened. I just tried to load pix from my camera, which I have done many times before and the computer could not even find the device. When I looked to see why, I found that I was no longer the owner of that drive and the message was "user could not be displayed" and when I tried to take control, I could not, that was denied.

I tried to obtain access through sharing but couldn't get in that way either. I then tried my CD/DVD drive and the same thing happened. I have control of my C drive, but no access to any of the external drives.

I wish I knew how many Vista updates there have been since I noticed this initially but all I can say is it's been several months. I may have had a virus or malware that was introduced around the same time, but when I realized what it was, I immediately ran my virus program (eset), and then did a restore point to make sure. My antiviral program seemed to have caught it and isolated it so that probably has nothing to do with it, but you never know.

I've read a bunch of threads on this and other fora, but I can't find an answer. I've run safe mode and can't figure it out either. Along w... Read more

Ahh I thought it was pretty damn easy installing drivers and what not. Apparently not.

The disc this camera comes with says put in on the dock, done, insert usb into dock, done, put camera on doc, done, plug usb into computer, done. And this happens...

After inspection of the disc it seems it only has drivers on it for Windows 98... Luckily I have a Windows 98 PC but again Windows 98 says it has 'problems' with the drivers..

I now have no idea what to do...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just got a T400 (type 6474 / model EB7) back from having the display changed. It looks great, but I can't get the integrated camera to work. It doesn't show up in device manager or in the list of cameras/scanners. I tried downloading a driver to no avail because it says device not found (there is a camera on top of the screen, still with the protective cover on it). Any suggestions appreciated....I'm also getting a recurring "USB device not found" notification popup. In device manager, under USB controllers, I disabled the unknown device that is listed and it appears to stop the popup for now. Are these related?Any/all pointers suggestions appreciated. Thanks...

Answer:T400 integrated camera not recognized

Yes. The camera is a USB device. It sounds like whoever repaired it screwed something up.

Hello Lenovo community,I have got a refurbished T400 (6474WHF) with XP Professional SP3, it works great so far. It has an Firewire (IEEE 1394) interface in front of it. When I connect my digital camera via IEEE, the camera is not recognized in any way. I tested my camera with my other PC, the camera works fine. I guess the IEEE interface is not activated in some way. I checked in BIOS but I could not find an option to enable the Firewire interface. Though, in my Thinkvantage Helpcenter, I found that there should be an IEEE option available. I already updated my BIOS but there is still no IEEE option available. Do you have any idea how to activate the internal IEEE interface ?

hey guys, I got an iPod touch for boxing day. It's great so far. The only thing is that Vista Ultimate recognizes of as a camera. Whenever I go to "My Computer", it says "Apple iPod" and has a picture of a camera. Also, the bigger concern, when I double click it, it displays nothing. I'd like to be able to see the files.
I'll be very happy if anyone offers me a solution.

I recently reloaded winMe and now my digital camera (and all my other USB devices) does not work. The removable drive does not show up as it did before the reinstallation. When I reloaded the dig.camera driver, it could not find files: USBNTMAP.Sys and USBSTOR.Sys (it said these files should've been on the WinME disk which they were not). Once I found those files on the internet and downloaded them, I was able to finish loading the driver for the camera, but still the computer still does not recognize there's anything plugged in.

I have two HP laptops and a Canon SX130is digital camera. I am not using Canon's camera software -- I just want to download photos. Both computers are running Win7-64. Both are Home Premium Versions.

On my HP Envy, USB recognizes, the camera, AutoPlay opens so I can select my action and I can also browse the memory card in Windows Explorer.

On my HP DM4, USB recognizes the camera, but no AutoPlay on any USB port. SD memory cards and flash drives open AutoPlay, so the issue is about the camera on one computer.

I have checked the AutoPlay settings, run net start shellhwdetect and the results are the same.

Can anyone offer a direction for me to take to fix this issue on my DM4?

Thanks,

Doug

Answer:Canon camera recognized on USB, but not AutoPlay

In Windows 7, type "autoplay" (no quotes) at the start button. Make sure "use autoplay for all media and devices" is selected.

Alternately, (I believe) you can hold down the shift key when inserting your usb device, to override and get autoplay to work.

Hello,  We've had our IT folks look at this already with  no luck but I wanted to put it out there anyway.  The integrated camera on my X301 is not even recognized in the device manager (or when checked via Skype).  We've installed the current drivers already.  Any ideas? I have Windows 7.  It seems that Lenovo is saying it's a known issue with the x301 and we'd have to send it back (take weeks) to have them check the hardware.  I searched the community forums, but it seems like others didn't get their issue fixed, or didn't have the driver installed (which is not my case). Thank you!

Answer:x301 integrated camera not recognized

Suggestion Boot up and goes to BIOS by pressing F1. Look for the fingerprint and other devices that set the on/off. If it is already set at on, set it off, reboot->Bios, set it on, reboot and see if the jiggling will solve the issue. Sometimes kicking it like that may trigger something. Since you at BIos, check if it is 3.14 version, same as the latest on my X301. If the above doesn't solve it, and it's not the latest, download the lenovo Bios capture utilities and capture your current working Bios settings. Upgrade to latest, then see if the new bios solve the issue.

sony vaio vgn-nr430e. got a replacement. It shows that there's a. battery there when I plug it in, and will power the computer when I unplug the power supply. However, my orange battery light blinks nonstop, the battery is at 80 percent but not charging, and when I turn on my computer it will not turn on unless I unplug the battery. The orange battery light lights up and remains lit until I remove the battery. It will turn on with AC power alone. Inserting the battery after turning it on induces the situation I described first- can see that battery is there, but it won't charge, and the light blinks. battery model is vgp-bps9/b. tried the file that came with it (bps9.exe) that I guess should block isbmgr.exe in some way but two more problems arise- can't find isbmgr.exe anywhere in program files, and when I run the program I was provided with I get error code 1275,Can't update BIOS, drvr phlashnt.sys has been blocked from loading

if it helps yesterday i upgraded from vista 32 to windows 7 64 bit.

Hey guys,A friend of mine gave me his Sony Vaio desktop pc to fix. He tried reinstalling OS on it but it wouldn't work. After fixing a few overheating issues I got to it. The pc hardware overall works, when entering BIOS it recognizes both hard drives (160 GB each) no problem, when I look at the boot menu to see which one goes first it just states "Intel Volume 0" as the only option to choose. When normally starting the pc with Windows XP cd in it I get the setup and all, then F8 to agree with terms and conditions and when I get to the part to select the partitions there are 4 lines saying something like, "No hard drive device is inserted" or something like that. When I press Enter I get blue screen of death, something to do with a setupp.sys file.I thought it was the hardware so I disconnected the wires and plugged them all back in their original positions, still the problem persists.Specs (from memory):Intel Pentium D 2.8 GHz2 SATA HD (160 GB each)1 GB of RAM DDR2 (2x512MB)Former Windows XP Media EditionThats about it, all suggestions, questions, comments are welcome! Answer:Solved: Sony Vaio battery not recognized

This problem solved by two steps:
1) replacing the ISBMgr.exe in registry with the 'Version.txt' stopped the ISBMgr file from working AND notifies me of the registry switch to be corrected later by showingup on boot, but
2) using device manager to delete Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System from the System category of devices seems to have re-initiated the entire system.

On deletion of Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System, I had to be ready to replace the video driver; all the other drivers seem to have been found automatically.

Both portable batteries now charge and are charged. The system boots by battery; operates on battery.

The system hibernates correctly after having followed instructions to rebuild hibernation file by
using an administrator command prompt, & typing:
powercfg /hibernate on
followed by a computer restart.

I also fixed the power settings to protect hibernation by following these instructions on all power settings:
•Click “Change advance power settings”
•Scroll to and expand the “Sleep” option.
•Select “Off” to the “Allow hybrid sleep” option.
•Scroll to and expand the “Power buttons and lid” option.
•Select “Hibernate” for the “Sleep button action” option. 10. Select “Hibernate” for the “Start menu power button” option.

The VAIO VGN-CR320E now uses its battery function as it should. I continue to get the text at start up for having replaced ISBMgr.exe in the registry with Version.txt. I have not yet decided to delete ... Read more

Recently, I turned on my Sony camera and it told me it was low on batteries and shut down, leaving the lens still out. Okay, well thats happend before and it'll fix after i replace the batteries. So i replace the batteries turn it on, and on the display it says "Lens Error, Please Shut off and Restart Camera" and I do that, and nothing happens.

Answer:Sony Camera Will Not Close Lens

Not a good sign on that one. I do know with Sony and Cannon cameras that you can push the lens back in manually and that will sometimes reset it. I don't recommend doing this unless it's a last resort. If you have a local shop that does camera repair they may be able to tell you if it's going to be expensive or not to fix.

but the problem remains

When I click on the USB Video Device in Windows Explorer I get the message

Hi,

When I checked up it seems that there isnt a japanese make for the above Series. Is this information correct , if so what's the make I should look for if im buying a DSC-W230.
Is this a good Camera for its price.

Or is there any other camera I can look for, for the same price which has better specs/features.

Thanks.....................................

Answer:SONY W230 Digital CAMERA

The Jap companies seem to have good quality control over cameras assembled elsewhere. I haven’t encountered a quality control problem associated with where the camera was assembled, and I peruse the camera boards often.

The Sony W series has been good and are usually highly rated. Steve didn’t seem too impressed with the W230 though: http://www.steves-digicams.com/camera-reviews/sony/dsc-w230/sony-dsc-w230-review-6.html

You might read through this: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/Q408budgetgroup/page15.asp Unless you plan on making large prints for the wall or doing extreme crops you can easily get by with seven or eight Mp. I would personally prefer the W120 over the W230 because of the optical viewfinder. It also seems to have good optics and performance.

If you want a sub-compact 12Mp in that price range the W230 is probably as good as most.

I have a brand new DSC-W350 cyber-shot digital still camera.I've only had it for 3mths now. Some days back,I removed the battery from the charger as usual and fixed it into the camera but the LCD screen just showed uniform whiteness when I put the camera on.At first I tot it was the brithness control of the LCD which I adjusted to the minimum, but the problem persisted. I have switched off the camera, removed the battery and have also done some trouble shooting but all to no avail. When the camera is powered on,all you see is uniform brightness, though you can make out faint images when focused on an object.I took some snap shot and imported them into my computer only to realise that the shot appeared okay when downloaded, the only problem been I didn't get a good shot since I couldn't make out from the LCD what I was snapping.I have gone through the entire manual and still could not find a solution to this. The trouble shooting steps on the manual rather instucted I looked for troublshooting icons on the LCD,but non was present. It's like there is no icon on the LCD suggesting a fault yet the LCD is uniformly very bright. Can you guys help out or is this really a major issue.

Many thanks guys.

I have a Sony DVD camera (mdl DVR-HC85) that has USB and firewire cables for connection to a computer for the purpose of transferring video to computer programs. Although this Microsoft hotfix is for Vista I would imagine it would be OK for Windows 7 as well.

It can't hurt to give it a try, just create a system restore point first, in case you need to undo the fix.

You may find some support here too:

Thanks,

Hi,
Apart from trying fresh batteries and a new card, there is nothing else you can do other sending the camera for repair.

I'm attempting to use my camera (Sony DSC-W5) with Win 8.1. The device manager tells me that the driver is up to date but then I get the message(below). Initially after boot up when I check the device manager there is no yellow triangle next to Sony DSC. But as soon as  I try anything the yellow triangle appears.I've uninstalled the driver and reinstalled etc.,etc. to no avail. The PC will not recognize the camera except it does make a noise(beep?) when turning the camera on and off. The other thing that seems odd is that when booting up the PC the mouse is not recognized if the camera is plugged in and turned on. Immediately upon removal of the camera the mouse works fine. My understanding from Sony is that this camera should work with this O/S.Any ideas would be appreciated. Thks. overthehill_________________________________This device cannot start. I have a sony cybershot DCS-T9 digital camera (6 mega pixel, MPEG1 compliant). I was planning to buy a video camera but some one adviced me to buy a memory stick instead and use it for video recordings. The cost of the memory stick is much less as compared to a new video camera. What are the limitations in using a still digital camera as a video camera.

Hello. I am running a stripped down version of WinXP Pro. When I connect my Sony DSC-W7 it recognizes the camera but does not have drivers for it. On other winxp machinces it reconginzes the memory stick as a removable drive. I have tried installing the Sony USB drivers, but that hasn't worked. Does anyone know what files I need for this to work? Are they generic camera drivers, or specific memory stick drivers?

Answer:Sony Camera usb problems: WinXP Pro

Let me guess.....this was a "stripped down version" built with Nlite? If so, this is just one more thread of many where people are left with a system less than what's needed.

You can check with Sony's website, but I've never found anything useful. Before you go rebuilding your system using a full disc, like it should be done, have you tried plugging in the camera and then running Windows Update?
