Preferred Solution: My audio driver won't install b/c it's not signed -_-

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Anyone know how I can get this installed?

Good evening,

I just reinstalled XP on a friends machine that was pooched. It is a Dell DIM4400. Everything is working except for the sound card. It is a built in sound card. When the computer boots up the new hardware wizard comes up asking for a driver for a realtek AC97 Audio device. I have tried everything I can to install the driver but each time I try I get an error that the driver is not digitally signed and it won't install. If I try in safe mode it installs but I get a blue screen upon startup and have to reboot. I do not have the orignial Dell cd but I have tried every driver from the Dell site that should work on this model of computer. I have updated the chip set drivers on the motherboard etc. I just can't get this sound card to work. Any advice??

G'day. I'm trying to install my old VisionPLus DVB-T card into a Windows 7 O/S box and it won't recognise any of the old drivers. When I try to install the TwinHan Digital tv software, Windows can't/ won't install them.

I've downloaded and tried the latest (DigitalTV 3.4 Build 19-02_20090212) and windows comes up with "Driver not found". I've tried to install in compatability mode but still no good.

When installing the above, it identifies my card as “PCI CX-87A with MCU DVB-S/-C/-T/ATSC card”.

Out of all the available drivers on Twinhan's site, which would be the best for my card?

The one written for Vista would be my choice, probably not one for W7 yet, may never be.

Looks like MS ha removed a way to disable unsigned drivers protection in Vista64, so probably is the same for 7
The issue is known to affect PeerGuardian, TV tuner cards, Gigabit Ethernet adapters, CD/DVD-ROM/RW drives, and many other devices.Click to expand...

Looks like unsigned drivers are a no go for x64 Vista and Windows 7, well there are some workarounds in the article above, sounds like a hassle.
Not sure if this software will work with W7

I have recently upgraded from a 32 bit processor and mobo to a 64 bit one, and reinstalled Windows XP media center edition, I have tried everything except the regedit option to get my audio driver to install properly. can someone please give me more information on this method as I believe it is my last option. here is my information.

kept same hard drive, which is why I think I am having problems with my new mobo and no audio, I think the driver for the old audio is deeply rooted in the HDD somewhere and it won't let me install any new audio drivers. The old system I had was a Gateway, with a P4 3.0 HT, hope this helps anyone.

Answer:No Audio, Install realtek hd audio driver failure

OK, by everything you mean you have tried all this:
Checked Master Volume control.
Checked Windows Audio Service is started.
Checked Device Manager for bad drivers.
Checked your audio mixer software (if installed) for a setting that mutes back panel audio if you have plugged headphones into a front panel audio jack.
.....Uncheck this setting to allow audio to both the back and front.
Checked BIOS to insure on-board sound is enabled.
Installed the correct Chipset and Audio drivers.
None of that worked?

Have you tried this?
The Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio driver for Windows may be corrupted or causing problems with the audio driver installation.
To resolve this, try the following:
1. Click Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
2. Look for the following two items: Realtek High Definition Audio Driver and High Definition Audio driver Package - KB888111.
3. If these items are listed in Add/Remove programs, remove them.
4. Restart Windows.
5. Download the latest audio driver for your PC.
6. Double-click the filename to extract the files.
7. Go to the folder where the files have been extracted and browse to the \HDAQFE\xpsp2\us\ folder or the \MSHDQFE\Win2K_XP\us\ folder. (The name of this folder depends on your PC model.)
8. Double-click the file kb888111xpsp2.exe to install the High Definition Audio Driver Package.
9. Restart Windows.
10. Install the audio driver.

Post a make and model # if your PC is manufactured (Dell, Gateway, HP, etc.)

Use Everest to get a report of your system?s hardware, OS, and drivers. Upload the report as an attachment
When Everest is done scanning, click "Report" at the top of the Everest window, click next to get to "Report Profile", select "Hardware related pages", click next, select "Plain Text", click "Finish". Then when it is done processing, click "Save To File". Save it where you want to. (I would use Desktop.)
Click "Go Advanced" in the MG reply box, scroll down a little way until you see "Manage Attachments", click it, browse to your file, click "Upload", and close the window. Then submit the post. You may have to also type something in the reply box, like, "Here's my report.", so that it will submit.

I have a satellite serie A laptop. When i try to install audio drivers it says "Microsoft bus driver should be loaded before installing Realtek High definition audio driver".
I've downloaded KB835221 and kb888111xpsp2 uplods and they should fix the problem, but they didn't. what should i do now?

Answer:Cannot install audio driver because Microsoft bus driver should be installed

Hello Jan

I presume you want to install your own operating system (probably WXP Pro) only thing you must do is to install all drivers and Toshiba designed stuff in right order. I don?t know which notebook model you have exactly but check if you can find ?installations instructions? document.

If you have newer unit A series be sure that WXP contains SP2.

I recently got a docking station for my laptop (Dell precision M65 w/WinXP Pro SP3 all updates) and when I plugged it in (after all the plug-n-play stuff detected the new docking station stuff), the mouse plugged into the dock USB port would not work (it worked fine previously when plugged into the laptop USB port). I undocked and plugged the mouse back into the laptop's port but it still didn't work.

I went into the device management applet and and tried to update the driver. There was nothing under "Mice and other pointing devices" except the PS/2 touchpad. Under "Human Interface Devices" there was an entry called "HID-Compliant device" If I deleted that device and then did a "scan for hardware changes" I would get the "found new hardware" popup in the tray and then breifly see "Dell USB Optical Mouse" during which the mouse would work but within 2 or 3 seconds it would switch to "HID-Compliant device" and then inform me that my hardware was ready to use at which point the mouse stopped working.

After much screwing around with the device manager and various other USB mice, I found that I could use the "Update Driver" right-click menu item to force the driver to "HID-Compliant mouse" by bypassing all the "Automatic" stuff. This resuted in a working mouse, but I have to do this every time I turn on the laptop.

I have noticed that while following the dialogs during... Read more

I'll try to keep this brief:

> Upgraded GFX cards to 2 x Asus EAH4980 (ATI Radeon HD4890 architecture) from NVidia 8800GTS

> Performed full format on HD and reinstalled Windows Vista X64 Home Premium as well as SP1 and SP2

> Installed chipset drivers etc.

> Installed bundled VGA drivers (8.592)

> Installed miscellaneous software/games

System was running very stable and performing well in Benchmarking tests and games. I then tried to update the VGA drivers to the latest versions, first from ATI's own website - Catalyst 9.8 with VGA driver displayed in Device Manager as 8.640 - and then from Asus' website - displayed as 8.630 in Device Manager.

No matter what drivers I update to I am met with BSOD errors as soon as I try to run any kind of media on my PC. The dump files/dxdiag info etc. is attached to this post.

Upon investigation I note that one driver is not loading and is listed as 'not digitally signed', namely

This driver is an AsusTek release. It appears to load ok before I perform these driver updates. I can find no reference to any issues with it either on Asus' forums or elsewhere so this doesn't appear to be a common problem.

I've tried to locate a signed version of the driver to no avail.

Any solution would be very much appreciated.

I have been trying now to install drivers for my Panasonic Digital Camera, which installs itself as a ZIP drive (it uses a 3.5 100MB ZiP disk instead of memory cards), and Fusion Dazzle which is an analog to digital convereter. Both plug in via USB. They used to work perfectly until I had to reformat and reinstall Windows on my computer.

I now get an error message that it is missing certain files (which ARE on the system) and it is looking for "C:\PCLEUSB.drv". When I point it to the correct driver location I get an error message saying that this driver has not been digitally signed to be compatible for Windows XP and will now exit installation.

I am using the most current drivers from the manufacturer and they say that they are Windows compatible and I am the first to have this problem. So far, they have been unable to assist.

Any suggestions?

Answer:Driver not Windows XP signed

usually the program will ask you if you want to continue, I have never experienced where it just "exited" on it's own. I always continue regardless but it is up to the user.

Answer:driver is not digitally signed

"Not digitally signed" means Microsoft have not tested this driver and verified it to be compatible with Win XP.  This does not mean it will not work, you should click on the "continue anyway" to install your print driver.  If this is a concern you should check the HP web site for newer driver tested by MS.Kim

Hi, I finally have my File System mini-filter driver working great, and tested it a lot on Vista 64-bit using the testsigning boot option. All was fine.

However, when I turn testsigning OFF and try to start the service (the driver), I get the StartService failed with 577 - windows cannot verify the digital signature. Note that the driver in INSTALLED, and the Registry is updated, etc. I just can't start the service (even when running as Admin).

It is signed using a Microsoft cross-certificate, based on the original certificate issued by GlobalSign, as directed in MSDN. You can examine the certificate using the driver's properties, and all looks fine.

I also tried installing the certificate, but that made no difference. This should all be correct, except that it doesn't work!! Any idea what is going on here? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I thought I was all done with this project, but since it doesn't work, I am currently screwed. THANKS!

So I just upgrade to Vista x64 and 4GB of memory (courtesy of OCZ).

However, when installing the x64 version of MagicDisc/MagicISO I get the following error:

Can I get around this?

Answer:Required Digitally Signed Driver?

Uhmmm... yes, you can by pressing F8 at boot time and choosing to ignore the warnings about unsigned drivers, but you have to do it each and every time you boot. There is a way to permanently disable that driver signing requirement but I'm leery to give out the info anymore since it hosed a few people's machines recently.

It wasn't my fault that they chose to continue using shitty old drivers, but they blamed me for the mistake they made anyway.

Vista x64 is a more secure and stable OS than the 32 bit version, and that's one of the primary reasons why: the driver signing requirement. Disabling it or 'getting around it' will more than likely end up causing you issues at some point.

Google can find the specific method to disable the signing requirement permanently, or a search here might find it since it's been posted about 3 times over the past 4 months or so.

Good luck, either way...

Good day everyone!

As stated in the title, the audio driver won't install for my laptop. I have an Acer Aspire 4755g running Windows 7 Professional x64. I have downloaded the latest driver from the Acer support website and have uninstalled/reinstalled it multiple times already to no avail...

The problem first started when "Dolby Advanced Audio - Unable to start the Dolby Audio driver" started popping up. I uninstalled the driver and tried reinstalling it to fix the problem, but I was unable to reinstall it properly. I remember it being successfully reinstalled (the Realtek one), but I didn't notice and uninstalled it again.

I'm starting to think that it might be a hardware problem now...

Answer:Audio Driver won't install

Uninstall the "Audio Device On High Definition Audio Bus" in the Device Manager. RIGHT click on that entry to highlight it and then LEFT click "Uninstall". If it asks if you want to also uninstall the drivers, click yes. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it should detect the sound and install the generic, basic function, High Definition Audio Device driver, assuming there is nothing wrong with the sound hardware and its enabled in the BIOS.

If the Windows installed High Definition Audio Device was installed, check the sound Playback to see if you have audio. If this works OK, you can attempt the Realtek driver install again (if that is the correct sound driver).

The Dolby will not install until the Realtek is first installed.

After you have downloaded and double-clicked the file 9537592.exe, files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\9537592 folder on the hard drive. (i don't know how to do this)

1. From the Start menu, in the Start Search field, type: C:\Cabs\9537592\Setup.exe, and then press ENTER.

2. In the User Account Control dialog box, click Allow.

3. Follow all onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

Hi everyone. I?ve just reformatted/installed win 98 2E on an old rig and for the life of me, can?t install the audio drivers. The sound card is an ESS Solo-1 ES1938. I downloaded the drivers from the ESS site and followed their directions in the FAQ to install them. When I unzip the package and click on the Set UP icon, the drivers look like they are being installed. It says to reboot, then I get a box that says it found the Solo-1 sound card and it asks to install the win 98 cd so I do that. Well, what happens is that I get dialog that says it can?t find the needed files. Here?s the list:
How in the heck can I get this driver installed. I?ve been struggling with it for several hours, to no avail. Thanks.

Answer:Can't Install Audio Driver!

You can find these drivers in on the Windows 98 2E CD. Extract these files and install. You can also visit this Microsoft Website:

To extract files, do the following:

1. Click Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools.
2. Click System Information, and then click System File Checker on the Tools menu.
3. Click Extract One File From Installation Disk. Specify the file you want to extract.
4. Click Settings, choose the configuration you want to use in System File Checker Settings, click OK, and then click Start.

Perform the above-mentioned steps for each of the file that is missing.

I have a fresh installation of Windows 10. Should I install the HP Omen driver for audio? Or the standard Windows driver is enough for high quality sound?

Answer:Should I install audio driver?

nelly2 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about installing the HP audio driver and wanted to help. With video drivers, this is a simple question with a simple answer -- install ONLY the HP drivers. But with audio, it's more complicated because the laptops tend to use generic audio chipsets, most often Realtek audio. If there are HP Win10 audio drivers, then what I recommend is the following:1) Backup the existing audio drivers:  download and install DriverBackup and use that to save off the existing audio  drivers2) Download and install the HP audio drivers3) If the results are better audio, then you're done; otherwise, use DriverBackup to restore the previous drivers. You can get DriverBackup from here: LuckI am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.========================================================================If you feel my suggestions helped you, please click the Thumbs-Up symbol to say thanks! If they helped resolve your issue, please click "Accept As Solution" to help others find similar information.

A signed driver is not necessary in Windows. It is an extra security layer, as drivers can become corrupt by malware. If you obtained the driver from a trusted source (like the device manufacturer's website), you can go ahead and tell Windows to install it.

MAIN Problem #1:

Hi I'm wondering if anyone knows if i can find a Microsoft Certified Display adapter/video card driver (are those the same thing?) for my :
ASUS AGP-V7100 Geforce2 MX video card.

runnig win98/SE on a VIA chipset

The reason i ask is because when i look at my drivers through the DirectX diagnostic tool 's display tab it shows my driver as 'nvdisp.drv' and in the 'notes' sections adds :

" The file nvdisp.drv is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs. You may be able to get a signed driver from the manufacturer of the hardware device"

but when i look through the ASUS home page i can't find my video card. I know my driver is from NVIDIA and i've found the right page to update from them but i'm also wanting to update my chipset driver from VIA and they warn of compatibility problems with NVIDIA so i'm looking for a "signed" "certified" or "standard" adpater/driver?

The last few times I started my computer, the system comes with the warning:

"Windows requires a digitally signed driver
Driver: Broadcom NetDetect Driver
Service: BASFND
Publisher: Broadcom Corporation
Location: C:\Program Files\Bra...\BASFND.sys"

Windows suggests to uninstall the program or device that uses this driver and check the publishers support site to get a digitally signed driver.

The problem is that I have no idea of which program or hardware is using this driver. All the drivers I have installed in my computer are from the computer manufacturer.
I have also been at Broadcoms homepage and there is plenty of things to download there. But I dont want to ruin anything.

Suggestions on what to do?

System: Windows Vista 64

Answer:Windows requires a digitally signed driver

Broadcom is your onboard ethernet, I don't see why it would suddenly complain unless there was an update.:confused You can disable driver signing but it only cures the symptom and not the cause.

I recently purchased a new pc that came with win vista 64 bit premium home installed. I am now reloading all my old programs and I keep getting ?windows requires a digitally signed driver" error message. I also can't seem to play my old movie files, all of which played fine when I had Win XP. Apparently Vista does not want me to make my own decisions, so I am wondering how I might go about disabling all this extra secure vista crap. Can I go into Control panel and disable the BitLocker Drive Encryption? Or do I need uninstall 64bit and install the Vista 32 bit? Would that be a smooth transition? Would all my stuff work again if I had the less securitized 32bit Vista? Thanks for any help you may provide.

Answer:windows requires digitally signed driver

Welcome to the Vista forums

1) You don't want to disable UAC (User Account Control) as it does a lot to protect your computer from various malware. If you really feel the urge to turn it off, then you can in control panel in the User Account section. Once turned off, you'll get the red shield in the bottom right saying it's disabled. Disable security warnings by opening security centre and going to "change how security centre warns me" or something and choose the "no warnings" option.

2) Just download the Vista codec pack (just Google it and you should find it) and DivX and you should have no problems watching videos.

3) You can install unsigned drivers on Vista 64 bit, do this by running an elevated command prompt (right click on command prompt in Start menu and click "run as administrator".

Type this and press enter bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

When you reboot, you should be able to install unsigned drivers.
Also, I looked on the HP website for your computer, and it has 6GB RAM, so going to Vista 32bit would only allow you to use about 3.5GB RAM. I also saw it only has an Nvidia 6150e onboard graphic card. Are you using this? As if you upgraded this to a graphic card, you'd notice better performance on Vista as well.

I am having a heck of a time. I have installed Windows Vista Home Premium 64 Bit and the ASUS P5QC mobo I have came with an unsigned 64 bit Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet Controller

I called ASUS tech support and talked to them and as of this time, they have only a beta version of the 64 bit signed driver. Vista is not accepting the driver and is considering it as unsigned, so I am left without a computer that can connect to the net.

I have searched hi and low all over the internet to see if I could buy a wired ethernet adapter which has a 64 bit signed driver, but all of the ethernet cards I have been able to find are only compatible with the 32 bit version of Vista or they only have unsigned drivers for their ethernet cards. This is really frustrating!

Does anyone know here WHO (what manufacturer, make, model) of a wired ethernet adapter card 10/100 or 10/1000/1000 (that does not cost a fortune - is retail version, not industrial or commercial)

If you have a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 and you install a driver that has a Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) or Authenticode signature on the computer.
But in Device Manager, when you expand the corresponding device, right-click the driver, and then click Properties and then click the Driver Details button on the Driver tab, you may find that the driver file is displayed as unsigned! This issue occurs because of incorrect logic when the Authenticode flag in the catalog file of the driver is checked.
To fix this issue download and apply this hotfix from KB2619914.

I had to reinstall Win XP and now the Audio driver from the original motherboard driver CD for the MoBo integrated sound card which I've installed a couple of times before without a problem now all of a sudden doesn't want to install. The MoBo CD forces you to install the chipset driver first.I've tried removing the entire thing and reinstalling and nothing. This is the error I get:Error 1 (original MoBo CD Driver)I also tried downloading the audio driver from the mobo manufacturer and from Realtek web site and those 2 also hangs at the end of installation.Error 2 (MoBo Manufacturer web site download Driver)I've also tried all this:Checked Master Volume control.Checked Windows Audio Service is started.Checked your audio mixer software (if installed) for a setting that mutes back panel audio if you have plugged headphones into a front panel audio jack......Uncheck this setting to allow audio to both the back and front.Checked BIOS to insure on-board sound is enabled.Installed the correct Chipset and Audio drivers.None of that worked.Checked Device Manager for bad drivers (show hidden devices activated) and I get this:Device ManagerSo I tried this solution posted here: Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio driver for Windows may be corrupted or causing problems with the audio driver installation. To resolve this, try the following:1. Answer:Realtek audio driver won't install

Realtek Audio drivers can be stubborn at the best of times. It will first need the motherboard chipset drivers installed, even if this has been updated to a newer version some issues like this arise. Update it afterwards.I also suggest, not using the CD but getting the latest drivers off the original websites (i did this with everything and it makes a big difference). This will be more stable and have bugfixes for newer hardware, etc. It's also not as messy than updating in the future.Removing the UAA bus. (MyComputer->Hardware->Device manager->System devices) And then installing the realtek drivers. When installing realtek it will install UAA that is needed for the drivers. If that doesn't work, disable the soundcard during XP installation as it would of installed it's own drivers.  To get around this issue now it's auto-installed, you have to un-install it first before replacing it with the Reaktek drivers. 1. Disabling soundcard / NB Azalia in bios. 2. Uninstalling Microsoft Audio Bus3. Uninstall all HD audio devices - reboot4. reinstall Microsoft Audio Bus - reboot5. enable sound card (not Azalia yet) in bios6. install newest Realtek HD Audio driver - reboot7. enable NB Azalia in bios - reboot8. XP will then detect the real drivers.

Hi, I am having an audio problem on my Dell Dimension 4700 after reinstalling windows xp home. Checked the other threads on this, but couldnt find a solution.

The reason for the re-installation was because I updated my PC via windows updates and couldnt get any audio after the update, so I re-installed windows using the discs provided with my Dell.

No sound from speakers (connected via expansion slot) or headphones(3.5mm jack). However, I do get sound when I plug in USB headphones.

Ive tried installing the audio driver from the dell website specific to my model and it doesnt work for me. Ive also tried installing the driver from the 'drivers' disc provided with my machine. The following message appears when installing:Installation failed 'The audio driver files do not support your computer hardware'.
The driver is R94481

Multimedia Audio Controller, Video Controller & Video Controller (VGA) all have yellow question marks with exclamation marks.
Any help would be much appreciated, as Im feeling quite defeated right now...

I've installed most drivers from the Toshiba website but the Chipset utility errors and says it requires a supported platform. The audio driver and modem won't install at all - the wizard runs but, the laptop reboots but the drivers don't install.

Any suggestions as to where I should go from here?

Thanks in advance,

Answer:Audio driver won't install on Satellite A30-921

Hi Stuart

I have checked the Toshiba driver page and I saw a hell of lot drivers!
If the Chipset utility says it requires a supported platform so in my opinion you have used a driver for a wrong OS.
Be sure that you have used right drivers!!!

I?m not sure if you known it but if you install the Toshiba drivers on your OS you have to do it in the right order! This is very important.
On the Toshiba page you will find a installation instruction. You should follow this guide line!
Then the installation should works properly!

This is almost my last resort to getting this fixed.

Prefab computer: Sony Vaio Desktop VGC-RC310G

History: Computer originally came with Win XP. I recently reformatted my HD and installed Windows Vista. The version of Vista is Dell Windows Vista Ultimate. The reformat / installation went fine however once I finished updating windows I now have the speaker with the "red X" and despite my attempts to fix it, is still there.

My reasoning told me to visit the Sony Vaio website and see what sound card I have inside and download the appropriate vista driver from the sound card manufacturers website. I determined the sound card was a sigmatel HD Audio Device however I could not get onto the Sigmatel website. The link on the Sony page was/is not working.

Since this problem I have tried many different sound drivers from Sigmatel, Realtek and one other. Without luck. I searched, thinking there would be a generic microsoft audio driver. However I couldn't find a download link, only white papers on such a driver.

As of tonight I found a Sigmatel driver which seemed to load correctly. It shows up in the device manager as the Sigmatel High Definition Audio CODEC, however the speaker with the red x is still there. I have rebooted my system, tried uninstalling and still no luck.

Any help is going to be greatly appreciated! My wedding is in 1 week and I am in the middle of putting together music for it....without speakers I am stumped! ... Read more

In your quest to install the correct driver, you may have conflicting software installed, so even if you did locate the correct driver, it may not install correctly.

My suggestion: since it's a clean install with a non-Sony operating system (which may or may not even be legal due to product key/licensing issues) and there's no data at risk of being lost, I strongly recommend that you format again, and go back to XP. You have a legal license for it, and that's what the PC was designed to run. However, if you're determined to get Vista working (which will probably lock you out after 30 days unless you have a legal and valid license), use the following info to attach an Everest report to a future post:

Answer:Can't install Creative X-Fi Audio driver

PCI or PCI-E? In either case if you haven't (and can), try it in another slot.

BTW if you really want a X-Fi you might want to consider returning that one and getting at least the Xtreme Gamer, as th only thing even remotely X-Fi like about the Xtreme Audio is its name,

X-Fi Xtreme Audio

The entry-level model of the X-Fi series, the Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio, does not actually have the EMU20K1 chip but is a re-branded Audigy SE, using the same family of chips (CA0106-WBTLF), and even the same drivers.[8] Thus, not only is all of the X-Fi?related processing performed in software, but it also lacks basic hardware acceleration just like the SB Live! 24-bit, the Audigy SE and other budget Soundblaster models. The X-Fi Xtreme Audio does not use the same drivers as the rest of the X-Fi family, some games do not recognize it as being "X-Fi capable hardware", and the device's hardware profile resembles that of older Live! and Audigy cards.
Furthermore, users have reported that it slows down some applications and games, and that rear sound in games (all) is muffled and of profoundly low quality.[15][16][17] Thus, even if the card is marketed as part of the X-Fi line, it does not belong to it technically, just like the Audigy SE doesn't technically belong to the Sound Blaster Audigy series. The card is not marketed as supporting the "X-Fi Gaming Mode" (but is still marketed as "X-Fi"), and there are no official implicit or... Read more

In Vista, the audio icon is there, but states that there is a problem finding the audio device. I got the latest drivers and even tried the old drivers from Gateway's website and none work. The weird thing was it worked before I formatted my computer with my own copy of Windows XP to get rid of the crapware that Gateway installs on their machines. Since my girlfriend's hard drive crashed on her Gateway M-6846 with vista 64 bit, we haven't been able to get her audio drivers working right. There is a built in microphone that the computer will not recognize at all. We have sound coming from the speakers just fine but cannot figure out how to get the microphone's drivers installed. WE have gone to gateway's website and tried downloading the audio drivers for her specific computer but when you download that particular audio driver, she gets an error message telling her that it is not the correct driver for her computer. This is straight from gateway's website and it claims to be wrong! I have looked at her recording devices and there is no option anywhere for that microphone.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you double check that the audio drivers are for 64-bit Vista? If Gateway's don't work, check the file info they sent, and see if you can find out what chipset the audio actually is (Realtek AC97, etc) - you may be able to download them directly from the vendor's site.

I have accidentally started the process of uninstalling the audio driver (Realtek AC'97 Audio) from my laptop.

The volume icon had disappeared from the taskbar and when I tried to 'place the icon in the taskbar' in Sound and Audio Devices Properties I got the error message:
'Windows cannot display the volume control on the taskbar because the Volume Contol program has not been installed. To install it, use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.'

I went to Add/Remove Programs but obviously did something wrong.

When I click on 'Update Driver' in Realtek AC'97 Audio Properties I get the message:
'You cannot update the driver for this device at this time because it is in the process of being removed. You must restart your computer before the new setting will take effect.'
I get the same message when I click on 'Roll Back Driver'

I think the problem occured when I included some Windows compents when I used Disk Cleanup to free some disk space a few days ago.

Is there anything I can do to reverse or prevent the process from completing before I switch the laptop off?

If not, what's the best way to re install the driver?

LAPTOP: Acer Aspire 3613WLMi
OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows XP Home Edition

Checked add/remove: Realtek HD audio driver is listed
Checked sound properties in control panel: it also claims no audio devices are present

Visited and went through download center
It confirmed i had the driver installed, so i removed the file and installed it from the website
The website advised i needed MS UAA driver
So i found a copy and installed it
Device manager shows no UAA driver
Add/remove and regedit has KB88811 listed
tried installing audio driver from site anyway - same message (need UAA)

Then downloaded 'motherboard_driver_audio_realtek_azalia' from Gigabyte which has recent copy of both files
So i unistalled driver and removed first copy of KB888111 through regedit
Installed the new azalia copy
and guess what - NO CHANGE

So now im asking you guys for the next step

Other info:

-Checked sys info and DXDIAG both say no sound device is present

-when removing HD driver from add/remove it claims it cannot be removed yet it does anyway

-Windows update is... up to date

Answer:Audio driver will not install correctly

Welcome to TSG R33C3.

If you already installed the driver offered on Gigabytes website "Realtek Function driver for Realtek Azalia audio chip (Including Microsoft UAA Driver in English edition)"

Then I would suggest Start > Control Panel > Switch to Classic View (if you are not already there) > Sounds and Audio Devices > Click the Audio Tab. Under Default playback, what is selected? On the drop down menu, are there other choices? Make sure Realtek is selected. Then click apply and ok. Reboot the computer and see if you have sound.

I Hope someone can help me with this.
Previously, I had the Realtek HD Audio Driver package installed along with Nvidia on my win xp system. Worked like a charm. Could go into NVIDIA Control panel and there I had the options "Realtek" for playing sound through my computer, or Panasonic (Nvidia HDMI connection to my TV. Now I have windows 8 God help me! "Talk about "If it ain't broke don't fix it!"

In the Nvidia Control Panel Audio Setup, now the only two options offered in the sound setup window are:
DVI: "No audio capable display available" (Greyed out! )
HDMI: Panasonic TV
It also shows sound readings for Panasonic (TV), Speakers, Earphones and Microphone. But if I try to switch from TV to Speakers (computer) it either doesn't make the switch and I lose the tv sound and end up with no sound reading in any category. I eventually get the tv sound back by repeating the setup process several times. I am hoping that installing the Realtek driver will make switching as simple as it was and that maybe not having it installed is the problem.

Here is the problem: Win 8 32 Bit keeps interrupting my attempts to install it with error message: Install Realtek HD Audio Failure Error code"-0001. Can't find any info on that one related to win 8 although one does support win 8, searching Bing and Google. But I did find mentions of "the Microsoft UAA driver" being the cause of HD audio software installation problems. If ... Read more

Via Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 X64 bit. (The one I installed in Home Premium)

1. Installed it in Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
2. After installation it asks to restart
3. Pressed yes and restart now
4. The SETUP went "Not Responding" (Computer hasn't restarted yet! Takes so long! I forgot to mention the screen turns black. Completely black. But I am able to alt+tab and switch to other tasks. But the SETUP is still "Not Responding")
5. Manually restarted it myself by clicking Start and and arrow button to reveal the "Restart" selection
6. Seemingly setup was a success.. Several opening and closing often first time opening a game. There is no sound or nothing can be heard at all! Game wasn't muted or the programs.
7. Closed VDeck in the taskbar and started it again.
8. Games and other programs still don't have sounds even they are restarted. (Checked the little Audio icon in the Taskbar if they were muted. But not.)
9. Restarted the computer again.. Then the sounds came on.. After awhile.. It blows off. Clicking the little Audio icon again. It says, "Sound enhancement for this device is causing problems" {Something close to that}
10. Disabled it since it asks to disable it or not

I just reset my system using Windows Recovery, and now I have no sound to my speakers, although I can get sound through my monitor which is connected with HDMI. Device manager has 2 entries under SOUND. There's "AMD High Definition Audio Device" and "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC." I know the IDT one used to play to my speakers, but I can't get it to install a driver, and it doesn't appear under Playback Devices in the sound settings. When I try installing/updating  the driver, it reports that "Windows ecountered a problem installing the driver for your device" and "A device attached to the system is not functioning." I've reset my system a number of times before and never had this problem crop up. Can anyone help?

I am having trouble with audio functioning properly on my computer. Whenever I try to install the dell audio drive (Audio_CNXT_W8_A00_Setup-TRK65_ZPE) I get an error at 3-4% into the installation process that says "Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the device for this driver."
The driver appears to show up in the device manager without a yellow mark next to it. I tried updating the drivers manually but I do not know if that process worked either because it seems to install in less than a second.
My main issue seems to arise when I try to switch between audio coming out of hdmi then back to my computer.
If you take a look at the picture I attached you can see on the right it looks like multiple repeat audio devices are detected by my computer. This is probably due to my many attempts at installing this driver.
Also on the left of the attached image you can see that whenever I open "playback devices", it shows "No audio devices are installed"

Windows Vista x64 decided to implement a 'security measure' by which all drivers must be 'digitally signed' to be allowed to install and run. I have a program which is compatible with Vista and x64 bit operating systems, however as its drivers are not digitally signed I cannot run it correctly - I recieve the message 'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' and access to the driver is blocked.

Is there a method of bypassing this?

Answer:'Windows requires a digitally signed driver' - How can I bypass this?

When you boot your system hit F8 and you can bypass it there. You will have to do this every boot. There are a couple applications out there that will do this for you but the names escape me right now.

My harddrive went out and I put a new one in. It was a brand new drive and I loaded Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit from my laptop's recovery disk that came with the inital purchase. When I started to add the drivers 2 of them came up as unable to verify the signatures. Most importantly the driver for my Wifi adapter, which is an Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN says this. Windows refuses to run it in that state. So I have no internet and it says that the adapter is not installed or is disabled. When I go into the Device Manager the adapter is there with a yellow "!" and has an error code 52 (for unsigned driver). It shows installed and enabled though

I installed the driver from the intial driver disc and it says unsigned, I was able to get the latest driver from Intel's website and that too says it can't verify the digital signature.

When I boot into the F8 screen and disable driver enforcement I am able to get online.

I'm not sure if this is related or not, but regardless of how I boot, Windows updater and troubleshooters do not work.

I'd appreciate any help.

I'm at my wits end. Anyone who can help would be my hero.

Acer 5253 laptop, Win7 Home Premium 64bit SP1, AMD C-50.

Trying to use a USB mouse. I have 3 logitech mice. None work because hidclass.sys and hidusb.sys are not digitally signed. If I f8 and disable driver signing enforcement, all 3 mice work, so I'm pretty certain that's the issue.

Tried "Update Driver" via device manager. Windows determined that I already had the best driver and wouldn't do anything.

Logitech does not furnish drivers for Win7. They rely on the native drivers.

Acer does not furnish mouse drivers. They refer you to the manufacturer of the mouse.

Tried copying the files in question from a 64bit machine that showed them to be digitally signed. Renamed the ones on my machine and pasted the ones from the "good" machine. Resolved nothing.

chkdsk /r found problems and repaired them. Didn't help.

sfc /scannow found problems that it could not resolve. Looked in CBS.log and found no references to either of the sys files in question. No resolution.

System Restore only had one restore point, and it was from 2 days ago. Problem was already noticed by then. I suspect that it's been this way since I purchased the laptop a couple of months ago anyway, but if there had been a restore point back at the very beginning, I'd have tried that.

I don't know much about digital signing of drivers. I've seen in a couple of threads that I might be able to sign the drivers myself, ... Read more

You can use earlier drivers (ie from vista, or even XP) if you install them in compatibility mode

Also, the Samsung Magician software reports, that AHCI Mode is deactivated and SATA Interface is N/A. Does that mean that my system is not running on full performance? Hi all, Following device:ThinkPad E531Graphics: Intel HD 4000System: Win7 Pro Following problem:1) Approx. 2 month ago a windows update caused a problem with the hdmi at my laptop. There was no connection to the TV possible anymore (I tried the TV, the cable and the hdmi device already).2) I installed a new driver (origin: Lenovo support page). Result: Windows messages that the driver is not digitally signed...Hence, the device "vga save" was set. What I've already tried, everything as admin:1) look for older drivers: Got only one and it didn't work2) Tried to install a driver directly from Intel: Didn't work3) Tried to disable the signing (GPEdit.msc -  code signature ...). Here I had the problem that I even have no line with the code signature to set the ignore property4) Tried to install the drivers (Intel and Lenovo) in the testmode. The waring message about unsigned drivers came5) Tried to create a certificate. Here the cmd said the command is not known.6) Tried to install the drivers (Intel and Lenovo) after setting the "TESTSIGNING" off (BCDEdit). The waring message about unsigned drivers came My question:Any ideas or similar experiences?I can not believe that the Lenovo or Intel drivers are not signed. But why Windows does not accept them?Is the available update to Win10 an option? Generally: Failure F40 (the failure is 40 cm in front of the monitor) is not excluded  Thank you very much in advance.Regards,Stefan

I have x220 with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Device manager shows under Storage Controllers "Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC host controller," but there is a yellow triangle with "!" and a Device Status Code 52 message "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device." I checked in C:\Drivers\WIN\Multicard and found two *.cat files--which, I understand, are required to confirm digital signature. Each of them ( and has a signed and valid certificate! So what is going on? Will the card reader work? Is there something wrong with how Windows 7 is treating the Ricoh driver, which I downloaded from the Lenovo site? Why should I be getting this grief?

Answer:Ricoh card reader driver-not digitally signed?

Perhaps the driver is damaged?
Try deleting the Ricoh PCIe SDXC/MMC host controller from the Device Manager and then restarting the computer in order to let the Device Manager re-detect it and re-install the device drivers.  Does that solve the problem?
