Preferred Solution: cannot find or delete netwerkprinters in hardware & devices

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: cannot find or delete netwerkprinters in hardware & devices

You can give this a try to see if items are listed.
Go here to this tutorial.> Devices and Printers - Device Stage

When you see below window highlight item you want to remove then click Remove Device.

Also some items can be listed under Program and Features instead of Device Manager hardware.
Here. > Programs and Features - Uninstall or Change a Program

Hi all, until last night everything was ok. After I'd cleaned the computer and plugged everything back in windows decides it can't find drivers for any of my usb devices (keyboard, mouse, camera, gamepad, joystick).

When it finds them it says new hardware found. with 3 choices:
Locate and install driver
Ask me again later
Don't show this message again

So I click the first option, and it searches for drivers but...'Could not find driver software'. I then click 'Check online for a solution' with no luck.

These devices are so basic that the manufacturers don't supply drivers for the products; they should all be with the OS.

What can I do guys? I'm a keen photographer and not being able to upload my photos via the camera or card reader is a real issue for me.

By the way the above process happens for all the usb hardware I have except the printer, usb flash drive, mouse and keyboard (luckily!)

Answer:Vista can't find its hardware drivers, Most usb devices won't install

in the device manager click on view at the top and show hidden devices
then uninstall all usb listings
turn the computer off and unplug all usb
reboot twice and replug in usb

Windows 7 Professional 32bit, Gigabyte x86 PC.

Windows bluetooth discovery is not finding any devices. On my android phone I can turn on discovery and locate the PC, and it prompts me to enter the passcode on the PC. However no devices show up.

I have tried three different USB dongles and installed the generic Windows bluetooth driver. (One of the devices prompted me for a different driver which was downloaded and installed, but then the radio was not recognized) I've tried three different devices as well (a mouse, a trackpad, and the android phone).

I've installed "Bluetooth Command Line Tools" and it tells me that the radio is installed and working properly, as does the Windows device manager. Bluetooth icon shows in the system tray when the dongle is plugged in.

I've changed the settings in services.msc as detailed in other posts (changing to local account with my username and password).

I've turned off firewall and antivirus, no change.

Constructive ideas, suggestions, and opinions are welcome. I can't just throw it out the window, though, as this is a work computer. All I want to do is add a Bluetooth trackpad.

Answer:No bluetooth devices found, but other devices find the PC.

I've just installed BlueSoliel (trail version which will expire in 30 days) and now all my devices can pair and connect.

At this point it appears to be a Windows software / driver issue. I'd really like to track this down and fix it myself, I don't mind actually paying for the BlueSoliel software but I'm stubborn about 'stupid computer problems'.

A problem developed with my daughter's internet connection and the Wireless router adapter. Her adapter could no longer make a connection with the internet and the computer would not allow me to create a connection. While trying to resolve the issue with the Linksys tech, it was discovered that when I open the Device Manager, it is completely blank -- nothing is listed and I cannot navigate around the panel either. The tech told me he could not help me further until I could get this issue resolved. I cannot figure out what has happened. I don't know what to do or how I should proceed. Please help me! Thank you.

Answer:Cannot Locate ANY Hardware devices. Please Help!

Read THIS
and if that doesn't work, try this....found it HERE
The issue is security permissions in the registry. I cannot tell how they are lost
but I can tell you how to fix it short of having to re-install Windows!

You must use regedt32.exe in Windows 2000/XP (as I have not seen this problem posted
for any other operating system). Be very carefull making changes in the regisrty!

You must be logged on as a local administrator to perform this task:

1. Go to "Start", "Run", and enter "regedt32"
2. Maximize the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" window.
3. Scroll down to "SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum"
4. With "Enum" selected click the "Security", "Permissions" menu.

Note: At this point you will probably notice there are no permissions on this key.

5. Click "Add".
6. Add the group "Everyone" and the user "SYSTEM".
7. Select "Everyone" and check "Read" ONLY!
8. Select "SYSTEM" and check "Full Control".
9. Click the "Advanced" button at the bottom of the window.
10. On the Advanced window check "Reset permissions on all child objects..."
11. Click "OK"
12. On the warning window click "Yes"
13. Close REGEDT32

You should now be able to see everything in Device Manager.

My rig has become very unstable over the past few weeks and I'm starting to wonder if it's not just one thing but several.

Problem 1) one of my HDD's are failing. The noise it's been making ie clicking, whirring has been steadily getting worse. The problem here is that I can't tell which one of my three drives is the culprit.

Problem 2) Blank monitor. I first noticed this little doozy a couple of weeks ago when I removed a second monitor. Upon restart, the original monitor stayed in power save mode while the PC kept booting up as normal. That too has slowly become worse. It now requires me to kill the power and keep restarting until it turns on. It's not the monitor, because it works fine with other devices.

Problem 3) Freezing. This is where I'm a little stumped as to who the culprit is. Ocassionaly the PC just freezes, requiring a hard reset. Sometimes after a hard reset, that's when the monitor issue happens.

However, when the PC is running smooth, it stays running smooth...

I've narrowed it down to that:

a) My video card is failing
b) My motherboard is failing
c) The failing HDD is causing the errors
d) faulty PSU? (unlikely)
e) a combination of the above

As much as I'd love to build a new a PC (I'm itching to build one) Current monetary constraints have unfortunately made a new rig low on the priority list. (My cars Foobar atm) So I really need to keep this PC going for a bit longer WITHOUT spending any money (It's upgrade path is limited anyway)

Answer:Hardware failing-one or more devices???

Hi Smarteyeball,

I'm sorry to hear about your problem with this.

Since it is pretty clear that one of the hard drives is failing, I would recommend that you back up that drive fast before you lose anything. I'm not sure how you have the drives configured (RAID or not), but you could shutdown the computer and unplug one drive at a time and restart to see if the noise stops to locate the bad drive. Afterwards, see how the computer runs with the failed hard drive unplugged.

If you still have the other problems, then easiest way to troubleshoot these devices is to test them one by one on a friends computer that you know has a good system. Eventually, any bad device will rear it's ugly head up while using it on your friends system instead of his device.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Sounds like the motherboard is a bit dodgy. Is the HDD IDE or SATA? I'm guessing something is screwed with the IDE controller. Might be the cable, if they're on the same cable.

I have just received a home built PC from a family member and it is running a genuine copy of Windows XP. I am trying to install a "Gyration Cordless Optical Air Mouse and Compact Keyboard." When I plug in the USB RF Transmitter, the Found New Hardware Wizard starts up and attempts to find the drivers for the Transmitter but cannot find the drivers anywhere. The manufacturer says that the device should be recognized as a Human Interface Device. After the Hardware Wizard fails to recognize the device, I try to point the wizard to the folder which contains the device drivers, but it still cannot find the drivers.

I tried the device on my laptop and it worked perfectly. Is there anyway to get my Hardware Wizard to recognize this device?

Thank you for any help you might be able to provide.

I've come up with a problem, that appears to be a Win 7 problem, as the exact same hardware dual booted with Win 8 works OK.

It did work, I switched cases, nothing else, and now the USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and some hard drives do not work or work properly in Windows 7 64 bit Home.

I've reinstalled the Intel motherboard chipset drivers, the Marvell SATA controller drives and the Intel USB 3.0 drivers. I've uninstalled the hard drives with problems, rebooted and let Windows detect and reinstall them.

I ran the troubleshooters and the fixit and they reported problems but couldn't fix.

On the USB 3.0, I have an external USB 3.0 hard drive interface, when I plug it into the USB 3.0 port I get a message about it can work faster if it is plugged into a USB 3.0 port. However, in the Device Manager it has a Code 39 error. If I plug it into a USB 2.0 port, I get the same message and error.

If I plug a USB 2.0 flash drive into a USB 2.0 port it is not recognized, same with the USB 3.0 ports.

I'm at a loss since Windows 8, which is dual booted with a separate SSD drive on this same hardware and all is well.

Here are some screen shots"

Hello,

My problem started with Microsoft Word hanging while loading. I followed the troubleshooting guide for that and was able to load word if I stated it in safe mode (winword.exe /a). I could not find any issues that caused this so I decided to approach the problem from another angle.

I went to the device & hardware panel and found that I could not load it. However, if I rebooted the machine I could load it once, but could not do so a second time. I have tried all of the troubleshooting guides I could find and still had no luck. I believe the problem is related to the printer because one of the fixes I tried was to run a checker that tested for printer spooler errors. This test could never be completed but nor has it timed out.

I'm seeing quite a few Windows 8 computers that spontaneously lose hardware devices. They'll still be there in device manager, usually with a "problem". I've seen it with WLAN adapters about half a dozen times and once with an audio adapter. The issue always persists across reboots.

It's solveable by deleting the offending hardware item in device manager (without removing the driver software) and then scanning for hardware changes, upon which the device magically reappears in a working state. I'm not sure if a reboot is sometimes needed, it certainly isn't always needed.

I showed one person who is seeing it every couple of weeks, but he managed to delete the driver software as well so I'm looking for a better solution. Anyone else seen this behaviour, and does anyone know what might cause it and how to stop it happening?

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere - I couldn't find anything relevant with a search.

the printer has 2 entries in the device manager, its supposed to be this way, one is for the printer and the other is for the sd card reader it has. i installed it with this workaround, and it prints and reads sd cards fine, but every startup im prompted with 2 found new hardware wizard windows for each of the devices. is there any way that i can get the wizard to stop prompting for just those devices?

i saw a guide online to install a null driver, it wasnt very detailed and im not sure if that would cause the printer to stop working.

under the device manager bothe devices are shown with the yellow question mark.

Now we need your system specs mate before we can even start to help so please update your profile and/or do this System Info - See Your System Specs

Now when we get this we can try to access the drivers you need because what I do is download drivers from the manufacturers site onto a stick then install them to the machine from it.

We might even suggest that you reinstall using a straight forward method. This brings me to the point of how did you get 7 - have you got an activation code for it??

Hi, I am unsure as to what model of sound device I have, and need to download the drivers for it.
I know it is a High def 7.1 realtek sound device, but not sure of the exact model.

I have had simalar experiences in the past with other hardware too, where I had to guess which drivers to download, because I wasn't sure what exact model I had.

It is an on board sound card, but the sound device drivers I downloaded with the motherboard chipset drivers, seems to be incorrect, or corrupt, So I am going to try and find the drivers manually through Realtek.
Is there actually a FREE program out there that can identify the name of the sound device on my computer?

Would someone please help me on this.
I built my own puter about six years ago, after wiping and formatting the older 32 BIT WINXP O.S. and installed a OEM version of WIN 7 PRO 64. I then had to search out 64 Bit drivers for my older Epson all-in-one NX300, (printer, scanner) Realtek Audio, CS5, etc.) I don't have any problems, to date, but I am in need of a faster i7, and More DDr3 to replace a very tired Q6600, 2.4, and 8GB DDR2 RAM, and replace my Nvidia 8600GT......OK....ENOUGH ABOUT ME.

.........My older sister Cathy, who continues to buying DELL products, just got tired of the old slow 32-Bit WinXP, and recently purchased a DELL, with WIN7 64-Bit O.S. I don't live close to her, but wanted to help her out, since she is NOT very computer literate....at all!

She had the GEEK squad come over today to hook up her computer and network Wi-Fi, but he left, without loading any programs, so basically, she doesn't have anything on her computer, except for the WIN7 O.S.

I believe she has a few software titles, like Microsoft OFFICE, she needs to install, and an older DELL Laser printer, but she does not know how to go about it. I told her to go to the device manufacturers websites to download the latest WIN7 Drivers for her hardware, and/or software to work...LIKE DELL.

Now she tells my mom that she can not find the CD-ROM...???...WHAT!....See what I mean? I saw another post here that DELL charges for new drivers??? This can not be true!

Answer:NEW DELL WIN7 OS, but I have old hardware devices!!!!!

First there is nothing wrong with buying Dell. You seem to have something against that. I don't currently have a Dell, as I build my own, but I would not be averse to buying one.

Second since she "does not know how to go about it" with the software it may be best to pay someone to do that, if the software that is wanted to reinstall is compatible. Keep in mind OEM software that was delivered with the old PC is only legal for the PC it was delivered with. The geek squad will do what is needed, obviously for a price. The older Dell laser printer, may have drivers but without the model number I can't verify. Dell DOES NOT charge for drivers, another one of your misstatements, they are readily available on their download site at www.support.dell.com

Thank you for your message.Try to check in bios to see if the optical drive is detected. The easiest way to determine if this is a hardware issue is to boot from a disc.Use any bootable disc & check if the computer boots, if it does this will be an issue with the driver / OS. If the system does not boot the hardware will require a replacement.

Hello,

I've been looking around today for an answer to this but so far I have not been able to find one. Is there any way to remove specific items from the "Safely Remove Hardware" utility in Windows XP? I have some devices like my printer and External HD (used for backup) which I never actually need to remove from my PC. Every now and then I will remove one of them by accident when trying to remove a flash drive or something else which is annoying. Does anyone know if this functionality is available?

Thanks,

When I check the Diagnostic tool for DirectX in the display area there is a text saying: Direct3D acceleration: Not available

I've tried downloading WINDOWS service package 2, which I can't get to work

I've tried virus scan

It is not the video card since the game has worked perfectly before

I can't reformat the drive unfortunately since I lost my Windows XP CD.

I'm desperate for a solution.

Could someone please tell me how to reinstall DirectX or how to get Direct3D in some other way

I think the problem was caused when I used a program called regrun which scans your startup and lets you delete possible malware, and I guess I deleted the wrong file.

I'd really appreciate if someone could help me, My computer is deadslow and barely works anymore

Thanks in advance.
Jonathan

Answer:No hardware-accelerated Direct3D devices were found

If this remains true, (I've tried downloading WINDOWS service package 2, which I can't get to work) then you are screwed.
You need that Windows disk to repair the problem you have. And you need Service Pack 2. Service Pack 3 is optional.
Time to spend some cash... or borrow a Windows install disk that will work with your old product ID.

Hello. I just noticed that my hardware remove icon for usb devices is gone from the taskbar. I've always thought it is best to safely remove using this toolbar. But for some reason it is not longer there. How do you bring it back? thanks

Answer:hardware remove icon for usb devices gone in Taskbar

Right click on the system tray. Select "customize notifications." Each item should give you three choices, one of which will be to always show it.

While my question involves BSODs, I'm more befuddled by the results from Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter, thus my post in this forum. Please excuse me if I posted in the wrong section...

I've had a few BSODs recently with SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. My first guess is they are most likely related to either:

1. Overclocking RAM from 1866 to 2133 or
2. EaseUS Todo Backup looking to update to external HD currently loaned to a buddy.

I OC'd the RAM last weekend and then removed the external HD several times this week. The backup software was scheduled to automatically run and I simply canceled it when the prompts appeared; but I leave my PC running all the time, so I missed many of the prompt cancellations.

So, I just paused all of the backup activity and lowered RAM back to 1866 (ran stable on Prime95 at 2133 for 24 hours after I increased it, but with the external HD attached).

For good measure I ran sfc /scannow and it detected, and fixed, an issue.

I then ran through the troubleshooters. Hardware and Devices indicated I need to restart my PC to finish installing drivers and updates, but I don't know which one(s). I've now done this three times and the troubleshooter makes the same recommendation.

I had experienced something similar a couple months ago, but it eventually sorted itself out. I believe it was related to my Wireless Adapter, but am not 100% on that...

The system appears stable again, but it makes me curious as to what the problem is.

hi,
since two days my machine repeatedly crashed seemingly random - no freeze, no BSOD, - just like if it would have been switched off. i guess it might be a hardware problem.

is there any way to "test" and rule out several devices?
since i don't know what exactly is the problem i don't want to invest in the wrong parts.

here's a little more detailed description.
the machine is almost 3 years old and was running since then under almost constant heavy load.
since two days I had 4 crashes where the machine just went down without a warning... almost like swiching the power off. it did not seem to be software related since theres nothing specific i did which in my opinion could have caused the crash - i also have no idea how to reproduce it. it seems to happen randomly. out of curiosity i ran the machine for 30 minutes under full load (rendering) but nothing unusual happened.
i thought there might be a tool which constantly logs voltage (i case it's the power supply) and other things so that after a reboot it might be possible to see what exactly caused the problem. one other thing that caught my attention was, that one time i manually had to unplug the machine since it wouldn't even go to the biso screen.. i just heard the HD was doing something and the hd indicator was lit. I then unplugged all drives by hand, disconnected the powercalbe for 30 seconds and put everything back in again... then it worked. another time it also did not start up (cr... Read more

I have an extremely frustrating problem whereby Windows fails to recognize many (if not all) of my hardware on either the IDE bus or the USB bus will fail to work properly. What happens is, for example, if I insert a CD in the CD drive, it will not recognise that a CD is there. The only way I can get it to see the CD, is if i reboot with the CD in the drive. As soon as I eject and insert a different or even the same CD, when it tries to scan it sees nothing there. Same goes with USB media like my digital camera. Only if I reboot with the camera/SD card attached will it recognise it. And my camera has an "automatically transfer pictures" button which i guess "force feeds" the data because when I click that button, it reboots my computer and when it restarts, it gives me a message that says "your computer has recovered from a serious error, click here to report the problem" and when i click that, it takes me to a page that says it was caused by a device driver, and there is no solution available presently. The CD drive doesn't reboot the computer but at any rate all the devices seem to only work if i boot the computer with them attached. Then they work fine and normally. Please help I'll do anything!

I'm trying to troubleshoot why my C drive runs all of the time. As part of that attempt, I run Troubleshooting and select Hardware and Devices. It states that it made changes and I need to "Restart your PC to finish installing drivers and updates." I do this and then run Troubleshooter again and select Hardware and Devices. It says same thing every time.

I've modified the MSCONFIG to get a clean boot and run it again. Same thing. It still asks me to restart the PC. Any ideas on what is going on?

Thank you

Hi, could you clarify that? Do you mean you see a lot of read/write activity to the drive?

Could you post a screenshot of your task manager like this just to give an initial view:

Click on Disk to organise that column high to low.

To post a screenshot please use the Insert Image icon above your post to the left of the video icon. Thanks.

Please also advise what sort of disks you have. (see my specs below for comparison).

Hardware Wizard can no longer recognize new devices

The Hardware Wizard can no longer recognize new devices that I plug into the USB ports or XD/SD Card Reader slot. The message is:

"There was a problem installing this hardware.
An error occurred during the installation of the device.
The data is invalid"

I probably screwed up a driver somewhere along the way. Examples of hardware that it can't identify are a new Garmin GPS or a Logitech Wireless Mouse.

It DOES work okay when I plug in devices that it had seen before like the Targus Wireless Mouse or a SanDisk Extreme MicroMate or an SD card. Anything that it has seen prior to some unknown event it seems to work okay.

I have run all the diagnostics that came with the computer and all is okay. I just don't want to pay Dell to tell me what's wrong when they won't guarantee the fix.

I would rather not reload the OS as I have a lot of stuff on here that dates back to the DOS days and I'm not sure I know how this stuff works anymore (grep for example).

Note: I also posted this on the HArdware Forum

1 one:

it is working properly, but no driver is shown and it is not recognized by windows.
Yes, I did install drivers for Fingerprint and Touchpad.

Can anyone help me please? I have a CD RW and a DVD RW and I have installed a second hard drive which has been set to "Slave". The 2nd Hard Drive can be accessed but now I cannot use my CD or DVD writers and Windows is saying: "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)" All the devices are found in the BIOS (2 hard drives, the CDRW and the DVDRW). Both the lights on the CD and DVD light up when I insert a CD. I have uninstalled them both and let Windows find them which it does, however I don't get the message "your device is installed and ready to use". When I check on the Device Manager the dreaded yellow box with the exclaimation mark is against both devices. I have tried updating the drivers through Windows but it tells me they are the latest drivers. What could I have done wrong?

I have a PC here running XP Pro SP3, and everything works fine except for plug-n-play with USB devices (flash drives, mouses, keyboard, etc). We're talking about devices that >used to< plug-n-play without any problems. Now the Hardware Wizard opens and I have to click NextNextNextNext a bunch of times. I never have to actually search for drivers, the drivers are located automatically, but I never had to click Next a bunch of times until about 5 days ago. When you plug a USB mouse in to a WinXP PC, it should pop up a little balloon in the tray by the clock, and give you some notifications, and install it. That's it. I use this PC VERY frequently 6 days a week with flash drives and external USB drives, and having to click Next 7 or 8 times with EVERY device is a major [email protected]$$. Even if I plug in the same flash drive, click Next a bunch of times, use it, then unplug it, the very next time I plug it in (even if it's only 2 min later), I have the Hardware Wizard open again and have to click Next a bunch times again- with the EXACT SAME flash drive!. It's a drag. I checked the UPNP service and the regular PNP service and both are "Automatic" and "Started". So.... why is this happening, and how do I correct it?

THANKS!

I have a Dell Dimension 8200.  It has a Windows XP with SP2 Operating System.  I have encountered a problem with it.  On three separate occasions, when I boot up the computer, the first thing I notice is that there is no sound.  Then I am unable to access the internet.  When I check the Device Manager, it is completely empty.  No devices are listed what-so-ever.  I took the computer to "The Geek Squad".  First they told me I needed a new mother board, then I was told I needed a new processor.  When all of that was done they called me and told me the problem with no devices being listed in the Device Manager occurred again.  A day later they called and said the computer was fixed and I picked it up and it worked fine until today.  I then had the same exact problem occur again!!!  When I booted up the computer first there was no sound and then I could not access the internet and when I checked in Device Manager, it was empty.  Can you help me.  Frustrated and broke!!!!

Answer:Device Manager Does not recognize any Hardware devices and is empty

You may try this solution, first:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;311504If that doesn't work, try this:1. Go to Start>Run, and enter: regedit. Click OK.Go File>Export, and save your registry to know location.2. Maximize the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" window.3. Scroll down to "SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum"4. With "Enum" selected click the "Security", "Permissions" menu.Note: At this point you will probably notice there are no permissions on this key.5. Click "Add".6. Add the group "Everyone" and the user "SYSTEM".7. Select "Everyone" and check "Read" ONLY!8. Select "SYSTEM" and check "Full Control".9. Click the "Advanced" button at the bottom of the window.10. On the Advanced window check "Reset permissions on all child objects..."11. Click "OK"12. On the warning window click "Yes"13. Close regeditRestart computer

Hi there,

It seems like people know their stuff here, so here it goes.

I've been having problems connecting my USB mouse to my laptop (running XP pro) When I connect the mouse, the hardware wizard pops up and wants me to insert a CD to install software. This is just a basic mouse and has been pluged into many computers before, including this one, and has installed all by itseft (called plug and play correct?)

After lots of frustration, I tried testing out my USB flash drive. This device is also plug and play (came with no software and I've never had to instal anything to get it to work) Sure enough, it also brings up the hardware wizard after it has been detected.

Here is the exact process that happens when I plug any hardware into the USB.

1. Plug in hardware, dectection noise sounds

2. Bubble pops up in bottom right corner with the name of device (eg. microsoft usb wireless mouse detected)

3. Device shows up under device manger as "unknown device"

4. Hardware wizard comes up on screen

5. All options of hardware wizard are unsuccesful (I dont need or have any software for the device since it's plug and play)

6. Canceling the wizard populates a bubble in the bottom left corner saying "a problem occured installing hardware and the device may not function properly"

7. Device manager now shows "unknown device" with a yellow "!" next to it

8. DEVICE DOESN'T WORK!!

After Uninstalling SuperAntispyware Free I get a Found New Hardware popup at system startup.

The installed version is identified as the "portable" version, but it is not portable in the usual sense.

I created a System Restore point before the uninstall. After restoring that restore point, the new hardware error disappeared.

I uninstalled SAS again, this time choosing to Not save user logs and settings. After reboot, the same problem occurred.

The New Hardware Wizard says
This wizard helps you install software for:
Unknown

Device Manager shows a main entry for Other Devices and Two entries below that shown as Unknown device
All three entries are labeled with a yellow question mark.

My first thought is to Disable those two devices, reboot and see what happens.
If all is OK, then maybe it's OK to uninstall them?

I'd like some recommendations on how to proceed.

Had trouble last time I removed SuperAntispyware and told myself at that time "never again".
I thought installing a "portable" version would be safer. DUH?

THANKS.

The network adapter on my motherboard conflicts with my wireless adapter.

I uninstalled my on board network driver, the problem is that every time I reboot windows will install it again.

Windows will attempt to install a RAID controller every time I reboot, but it ends up showing with an exclamation mark in the device manager indicating there's a problem. I don't know which hardware component that RAID controler pertains to.

My question is, is there a way to disable auto-detect hardware of specific devices?

Hello,

I have just finished formatting two computers, and finished installing all of the device drivers that I had disks for. However, on one of the computers I am still getting two alerts within Device Manager, and on the other computer, I am getting one alert. They are as follows:

Computer #1

PCI Simple Communications Device
USB Controller

Computer #2

Unknown Device

I assume that the PCI Simple Communications Device is a modem, which I do not have a driver for. I don't know what model of modem I am using, so is there a generic device driver available for that?

Any help locating, or working out, these drivers would be greatly appreciated.

You could always downlaod and install Everest Click Me and check the computer summary and see if it will reconise the Unknown devices that are installed on the system...

Then just match what it sees with what is already installed, when you find one that Everest sees that isn't installed, then download the drivers for that device...

For the USB controller, are there any USB devices attached to the system ?

If so...that might be what it is seeing as a controller and you will need to download and install the drivers for them, otherwise you may need to download and install the chipset drivers for the motherboard...

Hello,
I'll try my best English to describe the problem (i'm Dutch).
Recently i bought a router/acces point for my new appartment, model linksys wap300n.
Router installed, changed network name and gave it a password (did this with the CD that came with the router). Both my laptop and phone (apple) can find the wifi network, works perfect.
The actual problem is my roommate can't find the network on his laptop (windows 10), but can on his phone (apple) when the network name is changed or given a password. I tried resetting the router, then he can find the network, but as soon as the network name is changed/is given a password he can't anymore. Tried changing the network name/password on his laptop, works, but then his laptop can't find the network anymore.
Searched the internet for answers to my problem, without results.
Anyone who knows how to solve this?
Thanks in advance!

Sometimes the latest drivers are not necessarily the best drivers, you could try rolling back the drivers in device manager.

Hello, please see my profile for system specs. I am unable to install drivers for NEW usb devices.

I currently am using a MS Natural Ergo 400 keyboard and Logictech MX518 mouse that work fine. I have recently tried to install a Nostromo N52te (old device but "new" to my Win7 system), Logitech G502, Logitech G600, and Razer Orbweaver Stealth as I would like to evaluate them for gaming purposes.

Both Logitech and Razer have their entire bundle of drivers packaged with their respective programs: Logitech Gaming Software and Razer Synapse. I have downloaded the latest versions of both. Device manager always puts them under "Other devices" with their correct name, but a yellow ! with driver could not be found is always there.

The Nostromo is older and has its own software by Belkin, but downloading the latest was exact same experience. Since I like the orbweaver better I'm not going to focus on that. I just wanted to put in a 3rd device with a different driver package than the rest with the same symptoms.

The MX518 (my current mouse) used an older SetPoint driver. This mouse is recognized in the new Logitech Gaming Software and I can remap keys fine. So it would appear at least the Logitech Gaming Software is functional.

I have tried doing a "clean boot" with no success How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

My house was recently burgled and they took my external hard drive. I've had it for years so have lost all my paperwork for it. I want to be able to give my insurance company accurate details about it but can't remember anything including make, model, or size. Is there any way for me to find some or all of this info on my computer? I have an Inspiron running Windows 7. Thanks for your help.

This really boggles my mind. My other laptop and my phone connects to my wi fi without problems. But when I boot my Acer, it can't find it. I live in an apartment building, and it finds every other wi fi but mine. There are like 30 wi fi's on the list; just not mine.So it can find wi fis. Other computers find my wi fi. So my laptop finds wi fis. My wi fi is working, as other devices connect with it without problems. What is the problem here? I don't get it.I've tried disconnecting other devices from the wi fi in case my wi fi had some sort of limit that was reached (although I reckon it would find it, but just not connect if that was the issue), but to no avail. It's just not on the list. It's like my laptop is allergic to just my wi fi specifically.Any idea how to solve this?? I've tried reinstalling the network adapater, but that didn't work. What is causing this strange issue?

Didnt try replug the CMOS battery. Reason below.....

So basically its in MOBO has the problem.

The brand is Asus P5KPL-AM SE

Im deciding to bring it to the computer shop.

Try ubove troubleshoot = No fix

I read the forum which CMOS battery could reset it but i did this on my past MOBO and didnt fix.

Went to computer shop and the technician did was resetting the MOBO and fixed the No Screen Appearance and i dont know how he do it.

My questionis does the reset button could damage the computer? i mean pressing repeatedly? or like 10 times in 14 hours used.

How many numbers can i Press the standard RESET... Read more

Answer:Pressing restart button could damage MOBO or other Hardware Devices?

Hiya!

For the MOBO (CMOS settings reset), turn off the computer, unplug form the socket, remove the MOBO battery and shorten the two poles of the MOBO battery socket with a screw driver or any other conductor (be careful not to touch anything else) and replace the battery with a new one (just to check if it's not dead). If this don't help, there should be a jumper on the MOBO, dedicated on CMOS reset. Read your MOBO manual. Try ASUS support site.

Second, try to update your BIOS to the latest version available. Again, try ASUS support site.

To be honest, I don't know the limit of hard restarts, but I'm sure it's kind of stressful for the PC.
Try to find the defective component. I'd suggest to replace the video card with another one (even the cheapest you can find) in order to check if the problem persists.

Hope I've been of some help!

I am using desktop and laptop PCs, a Lumia phone and Surface Pro 4 tablet. I am using One Drive but apparently not correctly because every attempt to delete the pictures I don't want, organize the ones I do want and get them to show up the same on One Drive across all my devices fails. I just spent and hour in the One Drive folder on my laptop cleaning things up and organizing them, go to my phone and Surface and nothing has changed.
What do I need to do to get everything showing the same in One Drive across my devices? Everything is Windows except the phone which is 8.1 and I am logging in to every device with the same Microsoft account.

Hi everyone,
I have a SONY VAIO laptop which is a good 4 years old, however has always runned smoothly. However, recently I've been having problems connecting to my wireless router as it is not recognising ANY devices! The wireless is switched on however cannot find any wireless devices at all.
The only way in which I have managed to overcome this is by uninstalling the wireless software located under the device manager. Upon restarting I am then able to find my wireless device perfectly. However I do not want to keep having to uninstal the software and restart my laptop every time I wish to use the internet, does anyone have any long term answers for this?
Many thanks :)

Answer:Laptop cannot find wireless devices, please help!

Have you got Windows updates set to automatic.Just thinking that maybe Microsoft is updating the driver at every boot up.
The next time it happens try rolling back the driver instead of removing it.
So try turning Windows updates off and see if you still get the problem.

I have Acer Aspire 5102WLMi laptop that I bought almost 2 years ago and it's supposed to come with a bluetooth. There's a switch in the front that's supposed to turn it on and off (I guess?). I've toggled it a couple of times a while ago and I remember seeing green words flash on the screen when I've done saying something along the lines of, Bluetooth on or something like that.

But now, it doesn't work. No words flash on the bottom of the screen like before and I try to find the bluetooth device settings that's supposedly under Control Panel. So I'm wondering if it's gone for good? Or is it somewhere and I just can't find it?

Answer:Can't find Bluetooth devices on laptop

Enter the BIOS (as the screen boots up, usually you see something like press F2 to enter setup; yours might not be F2 so look closely at the screen and press that key).
In the BIOS, look over everything to be sure that bluetooth is enabled. Even if you have a switch that turns it on and off, if it has been disabled in the BIOS, the toggle switch will do nothing.

If you have a manual, it might be on the CD that came with your laptop, look for information on bluetooth in the manual.

Hi there, first time post so be gentle with me..

I have an issue that is making me tear my hair out. I have an XPS M1530 with a dell 355 bluetooth module in it, an dI have recently installed Windows 7 RC1. When I did, the drivers automagically installed for my bluetooth module, and didn't throw any complaints. The problem is that it says it is working fine, but it never finds any device when I search for them, it just can't see anything.

I have tried installing the latest drivers from windows update, the Dell website, a patch from the website and the latest drivers from the broadcomm website, and it still behaves in exactaly the same mannor with all of these. The module worked fine before the win 7 install, and I am at a total loss as to where to go next. Can anyone help?

Answer:Bluetooth Module can't find devices

Go into Computer Management\Services and start Bluetooth Service. Set it to start automatically, reboot and you should be good to go. I spent hours yesterday with three clean installs before I figured it out. I have a Kensington dongle, the drivers were installed but I couldn't get it to work with my Treo 755p until I started the Service.

Does anyone know of such a program and could you point me to it so I can get it? If not free I might be willing to spend $10 or $15 but no more.

Thanks,

Steve

P.S. I would like something that does this in human talk not tech. talk. You know show a ip address and then the device name Printer, simple like that. I tried ipscan and it didn't give me a single bit of info. that I could translate to what my printer ip address was.

I bought an XPS 17 and have loved the computer for years. When Windows 10 came out I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. From that point on, my webcam has never worked. I go through all of Dell Technical Support and find nothing that helps me. They simply state they will not support Windows 10 on this product. I have bought Dell for over 20 years. It is about time for me to buy a new Laptop. Unless someone from Dell can provide me some solution, I will leave Dell. I don't care if I bought this laptop with Windows 7. If you want to keep your customers, you make sure your hardware can work with all new Microsoft operating systems. Otherwise you anger your customers and they leave you.

Hi guys.

Been trying to solve this for weeks now but can't find the solution, so I'll have to ask you. I can't play midi-files anymore. WMP says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device, such as a sound card or sound controller."

I use Noteworthy Composer too to try out different composition ideas etc, which says "There's currently no MIDI-device selected for playback. Would you like to select one now?". I click "Yes", but the list, which should contain eg. the Microsoft Midi Mapper and the Wavesynth-something, is empty.

I run a virtual PC with XP Professional to be able to use some old software, and on that virtual computer, it works fine.

My guess would be that some program or driver that I've installed messes it up, but I can't troubleshoot since there are no error messages or anything. The WMP Online Help just says "Check your hardware" more or less. But it works on the virtual, so it must be a software problem.

Can anyone please help me, if not with a solution, at least with how to troubleshoot this?

Thank you for your time.

Regards,
dimhoLt

I have a SL500 2746-CTO which I believe came with bluetooth, but under Device Manager I can't seem to locate it. Does that mean this machine has no bluetooth? If not, let's move onto the next troubleshooting step(s): I've done a full system update at Lenovo and installed the Power Management Drivers. I still can't see any devices. In the Control Panel for Bluetooth, the Bluetooth Settings button does nothing - very briefly the cursor changes to an hourglass but that's it. "Add Wireless Devices" can't find any device even with my headphones in pairing mode. I've already used the headphones connected via bluetooth with my phone, so that works. Any clues? I'm in an office with noisy coworkers so I'd love to get this working. Thanks in advance!

I thought it might be the phone so I returned it and got another.
I have the same problem. The Bluetooth just keeps searching and never finds anything.

Hi, thanks in advance

So it started out with me attempting to get rid of old programs and making comp go faster. I was manually at the add/remove programs getting rid of junk, not sure exactly which program I removed/uninstalled that did it but when I restarted comp the desktop looked all messed up- when I right click+properties at desktop the settings was default at color quality lowest 4bit and the resolution is at 640x480... all that good stuff. I tried changing it back to 32 bit and better resolution but the color quality will not change. I tried to be careful not to remove any programs that would do that but perhaps when uninstalling something critical went with it? Oh and for screensaver in desktop properties it says " cannot find any compatible direct 3d devices".... so basically I can't change my settings to 32 bit color it is stuck on the 4bit lowest color and same resolution!!!!

please help. if you need any other info from me do tell.

I've been using it for the past 6 months or more.  Recently, I've experienced issues with the mouse losing connection for a few moments at a time, but nothing beyond that.  Then yesterday, Bam!  It's completely gone, and I can't get it back. ???

Hey guys,

I have an Acer Aspire V3, running Windows 7 SP1 x64, with internal bluetooth.

I tried with the standard Generic Bluetooth Adapter and also with the Atheros_7.4.0.126 Bluetooth Adapter which comes with the driver-package of my laptop.

I checked that the Bluetooth Service is started and running.

However, my bluetooth is unable to detect any devices, even though I have a bluetooth mouse and bluetooth phone lying next to the laptop, both enabled and detectable.

Clicking on the bluetooth-tray and then 'Add a Device' just brings up a screen saying 'Searching for devices...'.

Any help?

Hi

What happens if you connect the memory stick directly without this USB hub?
I had also an USB hub but these hubs are a little bit complicated and tricky? The USB specifications allows a certain power and depending on the devices that you connect you have to use an active USB hub, that means with external power supply.

But normally Satellite Pro A300 should have enough USB ports? If it?s necessary I would recommend an USB hub with 2 or 3 ports maximum?
