Device Manager has a list of Unknown printers

Question: Device Manager has a list of Unknown printers

There are 20 or so printer listed in the unknown devices in device manager. I have never connected to these printers. I disabled all of them, but how do I delete them?

Preferred Solution: Device Manager has a list of Unknown printers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Device Manager has a list of Unknown printers

First try looking for them in control panel>programs and uninstall all that you find. Ensure none are connected to your computer. Then go into print management and double-click all printers, then RIGHT-click the printer you want to delete, and click delete:

Hi Pat,

To give you an idea of what just one HP printer all-in-one model 1315
comprises from the Device Manager on my computer:

1. DoT4 HPZ12
hp psc 1310 series (DOT4)
2. DoT4Print HPZ12
hp psc 1310 series (DOT4PRT)
3. Dot4Usb HPZ12
hp psc 1310 series (DOT4USB)
4. Imaging devices
hp psc 1310 series
5. Univeral Serial Bus controllers
USB Composite Device
USB Printing Support
6. USBNULL HPO08
psc 1310 series (DOT4PRINT)

Given you have two HP printers, I would expect more than what I have which is what it appears you have!

Answer:Lenovo Solution Center Shows Unknown Device But Device Manager Doesn't

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to inform that it is a false indication from Lenovo solution center. Since Windows doesn?t detect any missing device drivers within the device manager, there is no driver that is missing.
If the warning keeps popping up, change the reminder settings to ?never?. Probably, you have to wait for an LSC update in which the bug would be fixed.

Refer here for further information regarding the issue.

Hope it helped!

Best regards,
Mithun.

(Code 43)"I have tried re-installing drivers and rebooting machine etc but no help. Please suggest how to fix this. Also tried reinstaling ehci controller device but no luck. Thanks, manu

Answer:Webcam not working on T410, detected as unknown device in Win7 device manager

hey manugautam000,welcome to the forums, disable to camera from device manager and remove the current driver installed to it.reboot your unit, re-enable the camera. windows should then install its own generic drivers.test your camera with the generic drivers.later on, head to http://support.lenovo.com , download the latest camera driver for your unit. set your unit to diagnostic mode via msconfig and then install.

Hey,

Hav you already checked the vendor and device ID in device manager? Check this please and on this website http://www.pcidatabase.com/ you can enter these ID?s and then you can see what device it is.

Furthermore the drivers can be downloaded from Toshiba directly:

I'm using the W540 with an ultradock and external monitors. After upgrading my W540 to win8.1 64 bit, device manager is showing an unknown device. I'm not quite sure what it is, but almost everything seems to be working fine and Lenovo solution center isn't finding any driver updates. I did notice that the solution center hardware scan did not test the video card memory and listed that test as N/A. Video and monitors seem to be working fine though and both nvidia and intel graphics show up in device manager. Device manager lists the device in question as follows:Device instance path: ROOT\SYSTEM\0001Hardware Ids: root\iwdbusDevice stack: \Driver\PnPManager

Answer:Portege R700 (PT311E) - Unknown device in device manager on XP

Hey,

In my opinion this device has something to do with chipset and therefore you have to install the Intel chipset driver. You can download all drivers on official Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

Check also the exact vendor and device ID in device manager to identify this device. The PCI database website can help you to do this:

Hello there!

I would be very grateful for any help/hints if somebody has an idea what to do....

My gf has the above mentioned laptop (w/o preinstalled OS) and we can not get the display adapter to work properly - situation is as follows

1) mobile intel 4 series express chipset family and an unknown device with a question mark in device manager
2) both are on the same PCI BUS 0, device 2?
3) intel is not working because it has no free resources (should I delete the unknown device?) to work with
4) HW ID for the unknown device is pci ven_8086&dev_2A43 and for intel is pci ven_8086&dev_2A42 (so basically the same, right?)
5) last, but not least, if I go to Desktop-personalize-advanced (first of all no 1280*800 resolution) i see under adapter type: . Exactly, nothing... under properties, this appears: non plug and play device, Super VGA and under driver, I see just the status and option to Stop, Disable, Automatic, Demand.... the device on startup... .If i disable it, the display just does not light up when the laptop is turned on....
Any ideas? I am going insaneeeeee......

Vista Home Premium, all other Toshiba SW installed (value pack, intel, BIOS 1.9, etc... - maybe BIOS did this?!)

Thanks in advance!!!

p.s. maybe SP1 that I am installing now will help?!

Answer:Satellite L300 PSLBGE - Unknown device in device manager

Hi

Wait a moment: I have checked Vendor ID and Device ID on www.pcidatabase.com and this device is the Intel graphic card. So I think this is the reason why you can?t change the screen resolution.

I assume that you have forgotten to install the display driver. Check the Toshiba website because there you can download the driver:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers

After this you shouldn?t have any exclamation marks anymore.

You can install SP1 for Vista but this will not solve the problem with the missing display driver. But you should install it because it contains a lot of security updates they are important. Furthermore I would recommend to install SP2 for Vista.

Bye

Hi everybody.

I just bought myself a Powercolor Radeon HD 4890 yesterday. After installing the card and the required drivers everything works like a charm. However, every time I start up my PC I get a message saying that a new device has been found on my system. On checking Device Manager I found an "Unknown device" entry under "Other devices".

I'm attaching a screenshot of Device Manager.

Are there any drivers I'm missing? It only happened after removing my old card (after uninstalling all its drivers) and installing the Radeon.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer:Unknown Device In Device Manager After Installing Radeon HD 4890

I have a Powercolor Radeon HD 4890 (I also have a Gigabyte 4890 and XFX 4890 in two other PCs). I think you need to install the latest ATI Catalyst Suite. You may have installed the driver only package. Anyway, I think it has to do with the HDMI capabilities of the card. High def sound is built into the card (the HD part of the card name) and the HD sound driver is part of the Catalyst Suite. When you use an HDMI cable to an appropriate display, HD sound is also transmitted through the same cable from the Radeon graphics card.

Of course, be sure to install .NET Framework 2.0 as it is required before you can install the full Catalyst Suite. The HD sound driver won't install without it. At least I had trouble before I installed .NET 3.5. I went to Windows Update and installed .NET Framework 3.5. 2.0 is included in that update and 2.0 wasn't available separately.

I have a Toshiba laptop, model L505-ES5018. I had Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit installed on here, but decided to reformat my hard drive using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. After the reformat was finished, I ran Windows Update and it found several items to download and install for me. I noticed that it also found optional items to download and install for me, so after all the important updates installed, I ran the optional updates. After all of this installed, I checked Device Manager to see if there were any errors and I found nothing. I assumed everything was fine. I decided to check Devices and Printers and under my laptop icon, there was a yellow icon with an exclamation point on it. I decided to run the troubleshooting option when I right-clicked the icon....it gave me a solution to download a Toshiba password utility program, so I did that and nothing happened, even after restart. Same icon appeared. When I clicked on the icon a second time, I noticed that the model of my computer at the bottom of this window, changed from L505 to TIAS. I have no idea what this is. I decided to do another reformat on my hard drive. This time, I ignored the optional updates. I checked Devices and Printers again, the same icon appeared but the model of my computer said L505, like it should. There is something in the optional updates that is changing this. Hello,
I recently put together a new computer, and in the process of of installing the USB 3.0 connector from the front of my GX500 case, I either bent numerous pins on the motherboard USB 3.0 header or the motherboard shipped that way and I inadvertently made matters worse. Anyway, that header on the motherboard is without a doubt unusable.
Since I don't really need the USB 3.0 functionality, I bought a USB 3.0 -> 2.0 adapter cable, connected one end to the connector on the front of the case and the other end into the USB 2.0/1.1 header on the motherboard. Unfortunately, when Windows 7 boots and I plug a device into the front ports of the case, Windows detects the front USB ports as "Unknown Device" within Device Manager yet says the driver is successfully installed. I've already downloaded the most current Intel chipset drivers for my motherboard, deleted and reinstalled all USB drivers, and all rear USB connections are working perfectly fine - it's just the two front ports that are connected from the case to the USB 2.0/1.1 ports via the adapter cable.  I've tried both USB 2.0/1.1 headers on the motherboard, and I've tried plugging in several devices to the front USB ports, and this problem still persists.
I've ensured the connection inside the case is solid, yet I cannot get Windows to recognize the front USB ports.  However, I have confirmed that power is being sent to the front ports because it charges my phone when I connect it to the front USB ports via m... Read more

One more yellow ? to go.  Thanks to the good advice rampant on this forum, I was able to figure out how to install the other drivers I needed.   This last one is messing with my mind tho.  It's unfair for a problem to not even have a name, doncha think?   About all I can fathom about this 'Unknown device' is its location:  'on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller'. I tried the driver for 'Embedded Controller' and when I double click, it takes over the computer and tells me not to shut it down and begins installing 49 fixes.  When I did it, the program got to the 21st fix, and that was as far as it would go.  I shut down the computer after about 20 minutes.  It did not remove the 'Unknown device' remark in Device Manager. What's a poor boy to do? Also, Windows is taking forever to load. This was not the case yesterday.  Thanks for all your help. 50GreenDodge in Phoenix

Answer:What is my 'Unknown device' in Device Manager? - ThinkPad T40 2374-75U

Hello, Have you tried installing the Lenovo System Update software to see if that detects any missing device drivers and offers to install it for you? The latest versions for your ThinkPad T40 Model 2374-75U can be found here on Lenovo's web site. If if that does not work, you could try going back into the Device Manager (filename: DEVMGMT.MSC), selecting the Unknown Device to view its properties and then go to the Details tab, where you should see several values listed in the property sheet for things like "Device Description", "Hardware IDs",  "Compatible IDs" and so forth.  Try using these as search terms in your favorite search engine to see if doing so leads you to a more detailed description of the device, including a manufacturer, brand, model or part number. Once you have that information, it may be easier to find the appropriate device driver for the unrecognized hardware. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky

who should give you THE SOLUTION? I mean, you tried all drivers and nothing did installed... So, does your machine run properly? Does some device not work like it should?

Please check this firstly before installing all drivers without any success. Try to guess which device it could be, so then we can search for some solution.
A good beginning would be to check the device in the device manager and write some of the information which is contained in the Properties window of the device.
Please post the details which are in the properties of the device, maybe someone here in the forum can find out which device won?t work.

I assume also that the SP3 makes some problems, so another good option would be to deinstall the SP3 and go back to SP2.

Hi there,I recently installed Win7 Home Premium on my Dell Inspiron 1525 which previously ran WinVista Home Premium (both are 32-bit.)However, in Device Manager, there are two devices named as; Base System Device, each with an (!) mark for them. When I dig deeper to see what these devices are, I get the following name for each of them;1) PCI, bus 2, device 9, function 3 and,2) PCI, bus 2, device 9, function 4When I then look at the Physical Object's Name, I get this;1) Device\NTPNP_PCI0024 and, 2) Device\NTPNP_PCI0023I'm not really sure what is going on! I tried using Win Updates to find the drivers, but it cannot find anything. I have a feeling that they may be devices for the integrated webcam and the card reader; however, I know I installed a driver for the card reader, so I am not sure what the other device is for... :sAny help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.J

I just replaced the hard drive with a new one. I reinstalled all the software; however I can't seem to find the software needed to correct the error. I've downloaded the power manager and TRM software, but the problem remains. I'm running XP Pro 32 bit with SP3. The software listed states it's for SP2, not 3. Maybe that's the problem. I can't seem to find anything "new" in the company database. Besides this one error everything else is loaded and running fine. My computer is a 7417-TPU.

Answer:SL 500 - Unknown device problem in Device Manager

I have this exact same problem-it occurred all of the sudden one morning when I tried to log on.I believe the "Unknown Device" (one of the "System Devices" in the Device Manager) is the ATK0101 ACPI Utility and uses a driver called A0101X32.sys which seems to be nowhere on my computer (I have no idea where it went or why it vanished). However, I cannot manage to find this driver on the website and download/install it, and what's more, when I try to do so, the "Update Driver" dialog boxes informs me that the file I must find is one with the extension "*.inf" which doesn't make any sense whatsoever.Has an answer to this problem been found?

Hi,I have just bought a second hand Dell XPS 13 9343 from Ebay.Having looked in device manager there are two unknown devices under Other devices as can be seen:
The two unrecognised are:1) PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller
Which brings up the following in properties:

 2) Unknown device Upon further inspection of the Unknown device I found the following which doesn't appear to result in much when googled:

Now as far as I have seen from using the laptop for 2 hours or so everything on the laptop seems to work but I would love to know what these two mysterious devices are that appear to be missing driversThanks for your help

Under the Details tab, choose the "Hardware IDs" dropdown option and post (or Google) the VEN_xxxx&DEV_xxxx string.  That usually gives enough to point you in the right direction.

Answer:K450 - Unknown Device in Device Manager

hi ktmcmo,

As per the Windows 8.1 Upgrade Guide by Lenovo, certain components and their functions might be affected after upgrading the unit to Windows 8.1 (this includes the USB Port).

Just to verify, have you tested both the USB 2.0/3.0 ports using any usb devices (flashdrive, mouse, etc.)? If you see that one port is not functioning, you can try to:
1. uninstall all USB Root Hubs under USBView or Device Manager.
2. Install the Intel Chipset Update Utility.

Intel chipset Driver

3. Reboot the PC and observe.

I did a fresh install of Vista about a week ago and have run into a problem. There is one item in the device manager that is listed as unknown and I can't figure out what it is so that I can download the right driver for it. The manufacturer is unknown but the location lists: on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System.

Can anyone help me figure out what this is so that I can install a driver for it? If you need any more info, let me know.

ps - This wasn't an issue with XP

Not an issue with vista either, if one had the correct driver.

What motherboard are ye using? As in make and model.

Note # 890, one may not be able to fix this, if the manufacturer of the mobo has yet to make said driver.

Hello everyone, I hope you could give me some clue that may have caused the appearance of an unknown device. All information here : An unknown device appears

First, That was solved by uninstalling and rebooting, did not appear anymore. But as I said in the previous topic, that solution does not leave me entirely peaceful.
Since when searching for information on the issue, some say it may be a virus. But also by the HWMonitor. I prefer it was caused by HWMonitor instead of a virus.

Can give me a hand to remove my doubts about whether it was caused by a virus or not.

I scanned all the PC with ESET 6 and nothing.

Thank you for your time and help

Sure, lets begin:

1.) Download herdprotect: (choose the portable version)

Download herdProtect - Free Anti-Malware Platform

2.) Run the scan.

3.) When the scan finishes, save the results per the screenshot below. Then upload the log here.

DO NOT REMOVE ANYTHING YET. I will advise if anything needs removed when I receive the log.

hi nikos78,

Can you check if this is the driver for it.
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/gtku09ww.exe

Check if the Hardware ID of this device is a ACPI\VPC2004
on that same windows that you posted click the Details tab and change the value to Hardware ids
Now check the detail that will show below, if that shows ACPI\VPC20004 then that is a Lenovo Energy Management Controller.

Hi all-

In the last week I have noticed that a mystery phone has been listed in my network devices list.  It was quite clearly not mine.

I immediately recorded its MAC address and tried (with no luck) to get windows to tell me more.  My Asus router did not list the MAC address as connected to my home wifi.  Googling revealed no useful info.
I did not have a password on my login (stoopid) so I applied one and rebooted.

Today, I noticed a similar phone unknown to me, listed in my laptop network device list.  Again, it is quote clearly not mine.  MacAddressLookup org did not have a listing for the MAC address this time.  Windows was unable to give me the serial number, IP address or phone number in either event.

A fresh full scan with a fully updated Avast found nothing.  Spybot S&D is now running.

Needless to say I am concerned.  I don't know if this is some hack attempt or malware.  Could this be just a couple of random phones trying to connect to anything they see.  This seems to be just my laptop.  I have no evidence to suggest my router was accessed.

Thank you for any help & insights anyone can provide!

Cheers-
 Oli

Hi,

I have a toshiba C70D-B-306 (psclee) laptop and I reinstalled windows 8.1 from a seperate DVD because i exchange the default harddrive for a fast ssd disk.

Everything works but in my device manager I have 2 unknown devices listed (with exclamation mark), as far as I know I downloaded all available drivers from toshiba support website for this laptop and installed them but the 2 unknown devices simply will not disappear.

Can someone tell me which driver I exactly need for these 2 devices?

The 2 devices are:
ACPI\ASD0001\2&DABA3FF&1
and
ACPI\SMB0001\4&FE73487&0

As mentioned, i allready downloaded all drivers for this laptop and installed them, windows is ofcourse up-to-date. Also I let windows search for drivers on the Internet and on the whole drive, but no drivers where found.

Who can give me the golden tip?

Answer:Satellite C70D-B-306 - 2 unknown devices in device list

There is a good method in order to find out what drivers are missing.
First of all you should check the DEV (device) and VEN (vendor) IDs

Here is an short instruction how to find this details:
http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD0302U00000R01.htm

Knowing the device and vendor ID, it should not be a big deal to get the right drivers.

At the other hand you should install also additional Toshiba software (Toshiba System Driver) released for Win 8.1
Please note also that there are two Win 8.1 driver areas: ?Win 8.1 update? and ?Win 8.1 32bit/64bit? categories
In case you would not find all drivers within the Win 8.1 update check also the Win 8.1 32bit/64bit categories.

Control Panel > Printers and Faxes lists HP 843c as the default printer but when I select 'Properties'and 'Print test page' nothing comes out.I've tried deleting the printer entirely and tried to get Windows XP to automatically detect the printer as new hardware but it does not seem to be able to do this. I do have the original printer setup disc but Windows XP cannot read it!!I've checked that the printer is online, has paper and that the cable is securely attached both ends. sis processor to AGP controller in device manager in yellow eclaimation mark! internet wont open when i try update drive it says no new files found!! how i fix it its xp sp2

Answer:Device manager list error help please!

What is the brand and model of computer or motherboard.
It could be that your AGP video graphics card has either gone bad, or has lost the drivers.
A simple test is to cold boot to SAFE MODE. The default Microsoft VGA driver is used for display at 640 x 480 resolution and in 16 colors. You must log on in all modes by a domain or by the local Security Accounts Manager, depending on which Safe Boot mode you select., by pressing the <F8> key repeatedly once per second

1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
2. Select an option when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.
3. When the Boot menu appears again, and the words "Safe Mode" appear in blue at the bottom, select the installation that you want to start, and then press ENTER.

Then, if it works in low resolution, go back and try again using this option as a test:

? Enable VGA Mode: This option starts Windows in 640 x 480 mode by using the current video driver (not Vga.sys). This mode is useful if the display is configured for a setting that the monitor cannot display.

or try this option
? Enable Boot Logging: This option turns on logging when the computer is started with any of the Safe Boot options except Last Known Good Configuration. The Boot Logging text is recorded in the Ntbtlog.txt file in the %SystemRoot% fol... Read more

I have deleted ALL previous unknowns (about 7) and when I reboot these two are found and drivers are automatically installed but they still end up under UNKNOWN. I tried reinstalling a new driver and it did not because what was installed was determined to be the best.

Answer:Can you move item in your device manager up or down the list?

They are listed in alphabetic order.
You can try to extract drivers (inf files) and edit names inside them. And later reinstall them.

But editing them, of course, will break drivers' signature, and you would have to go through the process of making unsigned drivers run on x64.

Windows7 64bit

Hi

In my Windows 7 (x64 bit)(all latest patches), when I open Device Manager, the entire list disappears and instantly reappears EVERY 2 SECONDS.
Strangely there is no sign any errors in the Devices that are being listend.

Also the sound card is also making a pong-pong sound - every 2 seconds. It sounds like two (low-ish) strings of a guitar being plucked... they are about 1 octave apart in pitch...

The pong-pong sounds are not QUITE in synch with the refreshing frequency of the Device Manager.

Any thoughts?
Do I have a virus? Or some weird conflict... ? or what?

Answer:Device Manager list flashing off/refreshing every 2 sec

Welcome

Run a thorough anti virus scan

Download and run malwebytes.

Check the sound card, may be defective, and Look for current drivers.

If there are no virus and the sound card is ok, use a sytem restore from before the problem. That should bring everything back to normal

I just completed a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on my new X201 ThinkPad. I'm completed installing all of the drivers from the driver matrix on the support page and have also run the Sytem Update to make sure everything was up to date. Everything is running fine, but when comparing all of the devices in the Device Manager List to those listed when I first got the computer with Win 7 32 bit I am missing something called "SM bus service". However, the "SM bios service" is listed, so I am not sure if this is okay or if I am missing a certain driver. Another thing I have checked from another forum was to run an executable in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Lenovo\i2cinst" This runs something called "Windows ThinkVantage Technoligies SM Bus driver installer Version 5.1015". The message I get back is "No Chipset support for this PC". I've double checked that I have the most up-to-date chipset drivers install. Am I missing something or is this okay? Thanks for the help.-Sam

Answer:Missing SM Bus Service from Device Manager List

SMBUS and SMBIOS are software drivers that certain Lenovo applications use (such as Rescue and Recovery, Client Security Solution, etc).  Not all software uses those drivers, and the software will only install those drivers if they are actually needed.  If SMBUS driver isn't on your system, then it means you don't have any software installed on your system that needs it.  Absolutely nothing to worry about.

A new install of Windows XP Home is giving us some issues. We suspect that the root cause may be an error in the listing of hardware devices:
Control Panel / System / Hardware / Device Manager

Under Processor, the processor appears twice, and under System Devices, Motherboard Resources also appears twice.

I have attempted to remove ALL the duplicated items and reboot the computer, but when it comes back, the devices are still listed twice.

There is no yellow question mark beside the items in question, indicating that the OS seems to think everything is OK, and if I examine the properties, everything says it is working properly.

I know this is wrong, and I suspect this is causing other errors (mostly in games), so I would like to get this corrected. However, I don't have any ideas of what else I can try.

Appreciate any and all ideas....
TIA,
--
Darryl

Hi, I just bought a new ThinkPad T61 6460-EDGI am happy about it, but in the device manager there are a  3 "?" with a "!" inside them. Does anyone know what this could be?` Please write me back soon!

Answer:Unknown devices in Device Manager

If it is a new unit this should not happen. Did you cut the factory tape on the box? Maybe someone altered something? As far as fixing it. First try pressing the blue button at system startup and restore to factory defaults. If that doesn't work call Lenovo and tell them about it.You could go get unknowndevices, run it and it will give you a clue as to what the unknown devices are. Then go get the drivers and install them.

I made a screen shot from the Windows 7 Pro that came with the SL510, and it seems these Other Devices are " Memory Technology Driver" and inside it has:JMB38X MS Host ControllerJMB38X SD Host controllerJMB38X SD/MMC Host ControllerJMB38X xD Host Controller I seached the drivers on the Lenovo site, but I can't find something that looks like a driver for these items. Can someone help? Thanks, JH

I have T61p 6460-8WU which I downgraded to XP with the Lenovo supplied XP Downgrade CD's.  I recently restore from those CD's again.  I have the latest BIOS, but ever since I had the machine I have had the wired network disabled in the BIOS, the AtMEL TPM device was disabled because it said in the BIOS it couldn't be enabled with the wired LAN disabled, the Firewire disabled since I don't have any devices like that, and maybe one other thing disabled.  After my last restore, I decided I wanted to get the latest drivers for *everything* installed before making an image of the drive so that I didn't have to restore again with this flaky restore CD process to a backlevel point, so I enabled everything in the BIOS. Now I have two Unknown Devices with the yellow exclamation point icon in Device Manager, and I can't find device drivers for them anywhere on the Lenovo site.  These devices are: 1.   PCI Serial Port2.   PCI Simple Communications Controller Any help in finding the appropriate drivers for these devices would be greatly appreciated!

So recently I've been receiving driver issues with my PC. I'd be working in FL Studio 12 while in a Skype call with my friends, then all of the sudden the whole entire PC freezes. So, to get a better idea on what's going on I went to the Device Manager, since I figured it might be a driver malfunction. I spot under "Other Devices" some suspicious looking drivers that I do not recognize. I think it might be an ASIO Audio driver that was installed with FL Studio 12, but I am not sure. Here is some more details:  This is details and value of the drivers.--This is general information about the drivers.  In addition, these drivers aren't digitally signed. There's no dates on when it was signed, and the signer is unknown.

So, I was working in a digital audio workstation while in a Skype call with my friend, and all of the sudden the PC just freezes. I tried to speak, but he couldn't hear me. So, I figured that an audio driver installed with the DAW might've contributed to the problem. I went to the Device Manager and saw two unknown devices in the "Other" category. Yet, I don't know what they are. There's really not so many details or information about the two drivers. There's no manufacturer names, descriptions on what they do, and even more suspiciously, they aren't digitally signed. However, there is interesting values they're set as.  One is ROOT\MEDIA\0001, and the other one is ROOT\MEDIA\0002.  In addition, they don't have the necessary drivers, as I googled "Error 28". In addition, I think these drivers are the culprit of my OS malfunctioning.

Machine is an HP Compaq dc7800p Convertible Minitower
Serial Number: CZC8473P94
Product Number: FU291ES

In device manager under "Other Deives" there is a yellow ? mark by "PCI Serial port" and PCI simple Communications Controller

The Details tab of PCI Serial Port" reveals that its Device Instance ID is:

Chip: Intel Q35 chipset Serial KT Controller

and the other PCI simple Communications Controller drivers name "Chip: Intel Q35 Chipset HECI Controller"

I cannot find these drivers , and I've installed and/or updated all the ones that I think might apply.

Answer:Unknown Icon in Device Manager

go to the motherboard makers website. Look up your model number to download win 7/vista drivers. It may be part of the chipset install. What model computer is this? Does it have a card reader or other such things? I would try the chipset and work through the drivers until you find the right one. Reinstallg a driver that may already be installed s,houldn't cause issues on you quest for missing drivers

I.ve recently noticed that ALL of my computers drives are listed as "Unknown" in Device Manager. I've checked in Properties to upgrade drivers only to be informed that the "best drivers for this device is already installed" against all the drives including HDD's, SSD's and USB drives. the machine runs fine and in Disk Management they are all listed as they should be. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? All hard drives appear in the BIOS as they should.

I just discovered that in my laptop's Devise Manger, under DVD/CD-ROM drives there are two entries as follows: 1) FvFx CDDVDvx+tech-200 SCSI CdRom Device 2) TSSTcorp DVDWBD TS-LB23A I think TSSTcorp is my dvd drive. What's the FvFx? I wanted to uninstall it but I thought I'd better make sure it's not something important. I googled it and all I could find was tons of websites offering their drivers update service for FvFx CDDCD..... Any help would be appreciated.

Answer:Unknown dvd drive in Device Manager

To me it appears to be a virtual CDROM drive installed by some game/software you recently or in the distant past installed. Just brood on it.

Without knowing the source - which you only know - the only brute force method of getting rid of it is to try a system restore to an earliest point of time available which may or may not get rid of it. Depends when it - the virtual drive - was created.

I clean installed an ASUS Laptop Model a2500h, Windows XP Home edition SP3.

There are two drivers that I can't seem to locate. The Hardware ID's are as follows.

ACPI\WEC0515
ACPI\WEC0517\4&19A7495A&O

I know ASUS often has utility programs that show up as drivers, for example I had the ACPI\ATK0100 which was listed as an UNKNOWN DEVICE, and I installed that utility fine.

I am just not sure about the other two. I was told on another forum that it could be something to do with the sound drivers, but I suspect it is one of ASUS' little utility programs.

Any help would be appreciated. Also if any additional info is required, let me know and I will post it.

Answer:Device Manager 2 Unknown devices Help?

You can go to asus's official website to download drivers, in most cases is a sound card problem.Or you can go to download a "My Drivers", to another similarly configured machine up a backup drive, then copy to your computer up.Good luck.

I'm running Windows XP Pro on my T60 8744-5BU ThinkPad.  I am getting a yellow question mark "unkown device" in the Device Manager.  I believe I downloaded and install all neccessary drivers, but it is hard to say because there are 95 links under drivers in support.  I tried using Unknown Device Identifier (http://www.zhangduo.com/udi.html) but i can't tell which one is the unknown device.  I also tried installing all updates, including optional updates, in Win XP. Does anyone have any advice on identifing this mystery device?

Answer:"Unknown Device" in Device Manager

Hi, Welcome to the forums! That's a commonly asked question. The issue you're having there most probably deals with the ATMEL chip driver not being installed for the TPM.  You will find the appropriate driver for your machine type here: Trusted Platform Module driver for XP - read the instructions at the bottom of the page carefully for proper installation. Hope this helps! Steve

Answer:Unknown PCI Device at Device Manager

In order to find the exact hardware for which the driver is missing, right click on unknow device entry in Device Manager which has yellow exclamation mark,  select properties >> click on the Details tab >> Select Hardware Ids from the property drop down menu.  It will give you the hardware id for that device. Copy the first line and paste it in this post so that I can provide you the exact driver for PCI device.

I have this unknown device in device manager,It has no file or driver,I have tried everything to get rid of it including deleting it but on reboot it appears again.
Tried removing it and running C Cleaner but it keeps returning on reboot.
Tried Intel and nothing there to help.
This is the only thing I can find about it.Unknown device on Intel(R) ICH7 Family LPC Interface Controller - 27B8
I don't think there is anything that will fix it.Just wanted to know if there was a way to remove it from the Device manager.
I can disable it but sometimes it appears enabled again.
The problem is I think that the computer keeps looking for updates for it and I have noticed a slight slow down on opening pages in PCA.
Googled for it and so far found no fix for it.

Hi

Recently installed vista ultimate x64 fresh on new hd. I have been using the same copy on my older hd for 8 months.

As far as i'm aware i've installed all newest drivers for hardware.

There are two 'other devices' for which no drivers are installed. One I'm pretty certain is the gameport on my audigy 2 zs platinum pro [location = pci bus 2], which isn't supported in vista. the other one is a mystery [location = 'on Msoft ACPI-Compliant System].

I don't care about the gameport but i'd like to get to the bottom of the second device. The thing is the only thing that makes any sense to me in properties/details is in 'siblings' - it looks exactly like the description in the same properties/details for my cpu [athlon 64 x2 6000+] for which there are already 2 instances in 'processors'.

""ACPI\AuthenticAMD_-_AMD64_Family_15_model_67\_0""

etc..

Could this unknown device have something to do with the cpu and might the fact it's unknown be affecting the computer performance?

I can give further info if required. I've no idea what might be needed!

TIA
