My laptop is not charging but showing plug in.

Question: My laptop is not charging but showing plug in.

Yesterday I encountered a problem. My Dell laptop not charging. But is showing in notification area charger plug in but not charging. I check my battery heath from bios. It's showing battery health normal. But adapter type showing as a unknown. I am confused If my adapter is going to dead, then why it is showing "plug in" in notification area.

Please help to resolved that.

Preferred Solution: My laptop is not charging but showing plug in.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: My laptop is not charging but showing plug in.

Right.. Well there's only a few ways to test this, but both involve a kind friend or money lol.

The free way is to borrow someone elses power supply. As long as its 19v and about 3a it should be fine.
If it charges off that, its your psu, if it doesn't, its possibly battery.

The other method is to take the battery out and get a vault meter on the terminals on the laptop. 2 of these in some combination should kick out 19v DC. If it doesnt then an internal fault could be to blame.

The 3rd is to ignore the battery health meter (as at the end of the day as long as it has a charge its going to say its fine) and buy a new battery.

My wife?s Sony Vaio PGC-9U1M, bought in June 2005 has developed a worrying fault. The charging plug that goes into the socket on the back of the Sony has become a loose fit, so much so that it has required some skill to get it into the best charging position. I?d noticed the plug and lead were starting to feel warm, but tonight I sat over it for a couple of hours whilst it charged continuously up to about 80%, but was shocked when I pulled it out and it was very hot, soft, and contorted out of shape. It has got some white gluey stuff that has set on it that looks as though it may have come from the female laptop socket.I?m wondering now if the heat has caused the looseness rather than the other way round.Even if the charging worked, it can?t be used because of the potential fire hazard. I?m sure when I disconnected it the lead and plug were close to meltdown, and a short circuit could have been disastrous. The battery was mildly warm, so it doesn?t seem to be a case of self combusting battery here.Anyone able to explain what?s going on here? Similar experiences?I suppose I?d better get it repaired before we go up in smoke. I?m not expecting much interest from Sony, and I have no extra warranty on it.

Answer:Dangerously hot Sony laptop charging plug.

Get it looked at for your own safety as it should not be getting that hot A WARNING it is not right.

When I plug in for charging battery then screen goes black? when I set the  power plan at HP reccommended)But  I set the power plan at high performance then this one is OK.Please advise me to resolve

Answer:laptop screen goes black when plug in for charging battery

Did you mean to say that it goes black for a second and then returns to normal? Your notebook sounds like one with switchable graphics.  My HP product loan Envy17-3002ea does that because I have the graphics power options set to automatically switch to the energy saving GPU when on battery.  If you don't want that to happen, just take the tick mark out of the box that say automatically switch. Then it will stay in high powered GPU all of the time, but will always use more battery power when on battery. This is a decision that only you can make.    regards, erico

good day, this issue started not quite long. my laptop starts plugged in not charging and i have tried several methods. i have removed the battery and pressed down power button but still the same thing. also i have removed the battery and uninstalled microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and even tried to restore bios and some sorts. i have also used someone's adapter ,same thing but the strange thing i am witnessing now is anytime i plug the charger,it will indicate charging for like 12 secs and after it goes off. i just want to know what to do. i still think the battery and the adapter is ok i'll appreciate your answers . thanks

Answer:Laptop showing plugged in not charging

Run a battery test in the diagnostics....tap F2 as you power up and let us know the outcome, please. Symptoms point to a bad battery, which does happen too early sometimes but would be covered by waranty if applicable.

Recently i noticed that my battery was not charging and i was getting a message "plugged in not charging". So i performed a solution as given on youtube and it worked fine. But i thought the problem was solved but it continued to happen after several days. Now every time the problem occurs i have to run through the same solution. It is getting really annoying. Is there any fix to this?

I currently use this fix.
Uninstall the "microsoft acpi-compliant control method battery" driver
Shut down laptop
Remove battery
Startup laptop and then insert the battery when laptop turns on

The other problem i noticed when this occurs my PC becomes really really slow. Only after performing the above procedure it works fine.

I have a lenovo z50-70 laptop which is hardly 3 months old and works really well apart from this problem

Answer:Laptop showing plugged in not charging

Contact Lenovo. Make sure that the battery is properly seated also.

I was given a nextbook several months ago. I don't know how to tell details like what version it is. It says manufactured Sept. 2014, and has serial number.

I do have operating system details though. It was upgraded to Windows 10 shortly before I received it.
My issue: No matter where I plug it in, directly in an outlet, or into a power strip designed for a computer, in a heavy duty power cord, the square plug part (not the cable to nextbook) gets hot. Not just warm, hot. So I can never get the battery fully charged, because soon as it gets beyond slightly warm, I have to unplug it. Worried about overheating and fire. I've never had anything likethis before, but I don't think this is normal.
I've included 2 images of the cable/plug. Also image of system info.

Any suggestions what the issue is and what I can do for it? My Computer just quit on me, so I'm relying on my nextbook until I learn if computer can be fixed or if it's a goner.

When playing games, the computer drains the battery and noticed that the battery is not charging based on the icon at the bottom right, after ignoring it, the 10% windows warning of low bat appeared and it keeps draining because it is not charging. During this scenario, my power adapter is plug-in with lit on. I dont really know what is wrong with the unit because, if you close the game itself, it can charge normally. Im guessing that it doesnt produce power to the battery while charging at a game play.
another thing, contacted chat support and got remote support, he was connected and he was in another session then waited for 20mins. without solving anything. just wasted my time for 20mins.
any thoughts or solutions that i could do it myself? thanks.

Answer:Alienware 17 R3 - not charging during game play even though it is plug

The power supply may not be putting out enough power to keep charging it while the computer is running games.  This shouldn't happen, how long has this been going on?  Is this a new computer?  Has it ever worked right?  You should contact Dell and let them know they need to do a swap of this power supply for you.

My Laptop is not charging then the indicator of the laptop blinking white and orange.    See Video Below
then what the main problem the AC adaptor or the battery ?
need to identify the problem then i will find some parts for replacement

Answer:Plug in , not charging Dell inspiron 15 5558

Does the system correctly identify the AC adapter or does it show unknown?  F2 at powerup to check.
If the adapter IS recognized, replace the battery.
If the adapter IS NOT recognized, and is a non- Dell adapter, replace it with a Dell adapter.  If it's a Dell adapter and it's not recognized, replace it with a new Dell adapter first.  If that doesn't solve the problem, replace the DC jack in the system:

If that doesn't solve the issue, replace the mainboard.

I was troubleshooting why my daughters Yoga 13 would not charge battery and then stopped working even when plugged in.  If I left it sit for week or two till battery was 100% dead it would charge all the way up, soon as you turned it on it would work but over 1 hours or so drain the battery till dead and Yoga would die.  Here is what I found.  The green yellow and red wires must have been just touching in the heatshrink as Iifted the plug gently I could see they were broken at the solder joint.  I resoldered them then just to be sure it never happened again I hot glued where all 5 wires connect so never going to move.   Been working for over a month. :-)

I try to switch with other batterie and adapter from my friend with same version of my laptop, but  still it wont charge. please help me to solved this. thank you.

Answer:Dell Vostro 3300 in Windows 8 Not Charging When Plug In

Hi BILLY_SHN,
Are you using an original Dell adapter? Is the adapter frayed? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay in firm or does it fall off easily? Is there any charge on the battery available?
If the battery charge is more than 10% - then update the BIOS - http://dell.to/28ORaZe
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.
If there is no warranty, then you could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ

I usually use my Yoga 2 Pro with AC Adapter plugged in. I turn on Conversation mode in Lenovo Energy Manager and get a message of "Plug in - Not Charging" everytime the battery is already 60% charged. Does it mean that AC electricity will directly serve to run the laptop without going through the batttery like a desktop computer?
I'm worried this habit will ruin my battery lifetime.

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro - Does Plug in - Not Charging on Conversation Mode harm the battery?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Yes, when the charge level reaches 60% and you receive that message it means the battery is no longer receiving a charge and the laptop is being powered by the AC adapter.

No, using conservation mode will actually extend the health of your battery which means the battery will have a longer life time.   It is the continually charging when the battery's charge level reaches 100% level that will shorten the life of the battery.

Hi...

I am having a problem with my laptop computer. I figured out that my laptop, when being charged or using the Power Outlet, runs at 100% CPU at times, and slows me down when running and working on some open applications. At first I thought I had tons of spyware or even a virus, and even posted a Hijackthis file here. Nothing was found.
I figured out that my cpu runs at 100% when using the power outlet, or when my computer is chargnig. When I unplug the powercord and use the battery life, everything runs GREAT!!!!! my cpu drops to a normal 4-8% usage with multiple applications running. WEIRD huh? Can anyone relate to this ?? Is this and indication that my battery is going bad???? Can someone help me with this or suggest what is going on? I am running windows XP home edition, and have a compac presario 1500 series. Pent 4..

HELP!!!

Answer:CPU runs at 100% when charging laptop battery, when not charging its fine. HELP!!!

Why is my Nokia lumia showing me a lighting and setting screen when I plug it in to charge

Answer:Why is it showing me a lighting and setting screen when I plug it in to charge?

if you're seeing a lightning bolt and gears, it's likely a HW issue. Not sure what a 'lighting and setting screen' is, though, so post a picture.

I have a T420S.  I opened it up to clean out the dust from the cooling fan, and now my computer isn't showing that it's charging. The power cord is okay according to my multimeter, and the battery stays at 100% while the power cord is in so I know it's getting power. Any thoughts on why the computer might be doing this?

Answer:Not showing charging

Ermmm ... If battery stays at 100% I guess the AC is working correctly and supplying power to the laptop. Do you lose power when you unplug the AC?

I just purchased a new battery for my ThinkPad laptop. Since IBM is no longer producing ThinkPads, I had to buy a 3rd party replacement. I found a 6600MAh battery that was supposed to be compatible with my laptop. However, when I insert it, the laptop shows "Error" on the battery screen. The battery indicator on the laptop blinks, then goes steady (which means charging) but about 5 to 10 seconds later, starts blinking (I looked in the A21p guide, and it didn't mention blinking yellow when plugged in, so I'm assuming it's an error code). The battery works, because when I unplug the computer, it stays powered on, despite Windows reporting 0% capacity and IBM's utility saying Battery Error.

If it works...why won't my computer charge it!?! If it needs recalibrated, how might I do this (should I drain it until it runs dead and then try?). If it doesn't fix soon I'll try to get a replacement.

Answer:Battery not showing up or charging

I ran it down completely, and then the laptop charges it, but it only charges it to like 5 minutes worth of power and then goes back to showing errors. Windows can't detect the battery power level or anything, but it knows there's a battery.

Hi, I'm having problems charging my gateway laptop unless I wiggle the charging pin and power brick a certain way. I have tried replacing the charger and battery. It doesn't help. Also If I run on straight AC with no battery the laptop will shut off if it moves due to the contact problem. Does any one know why this happening?

Thanks for the Help.

Also its a gateway t-6859 laptop.

Answer:Laptop has problems with charging unless I wiggle the charging pin.

how old is the laptop sounds like your ac in port has de-soldered from the psu part of the motherboard. its the most common thing to break on laptops since they get a lot of stress from the cables pulling on them or they are built cheap either way. is is it still in warranty?

Hi

Welcome to community.

I understand your concerned issue,in order to get the recovery from the respective issue you need to re-install the Lenovo Energy Management software, afterwards please perform the Gauge Reset, to do so, undergo the mentioned steps:

1. Open Lenovo Energy Management.
2. Under Battery Health, Click on Start for Battery Gauge Reset.
3. That should refresh the gauge and let the system finish through the cycle.

Performing the Gauge Reset will take more time, so please do not close the laptop by that  time.

This morning when I plugged my HP G62 into the mains nothing happened. I knew the battery was flat but there appeared to be nothing going through the charger. Several attempts later it started to charge and the machine booted up as normal. There were 18 windows upgrades to go through on restart and when the machine was back on again I noticed that the charging symbol was absent from the battery icon and has remained so ever since. Hi anyone getting this? Any way to resolve?

Thanks

Answer:HP G60 120US battery showing plugged in 0% not charging

There are a few steps that need to be done to troubleshoot this.

Firstly, does your laptop run fine on battery power? Have you charged it long enough as usual and let it run on the battery? And if so, does it last as long as it should?

If it doesn't run long on battery power after charging it for a while, this may mean your battery is faulty and needs replacing.

Secondly, if your battery does work fine, if maybe a software glitch. Go the Device Manger, (Start key and X then click on Device Manger, or type it in at Start) double click on Battery and right click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and hit Uninstall. Then click on Action, and hit Scan for hardware changes and the driver will reinstall itself.

If this solves it, then it's a software glitch. This is sometimes common, but in all of my experiences with battery related issues and charging, it's ALWAYS been the battery or some type of hardware issue. My gut feeling is that since your laptop is probably four to six years old, you probably do need a new battery.
Solutions to common battery problems
Some additional battery resources.

A tip I'll don off, I always clean the contact fins on the motherboard of the laptop with about 90 percent rubbing alcohol. This cleans the contacts and can help the battery in some cases and prevents weirdness in general.

Hi, My HP 15-AC035TX (warranty was over by Oct 2016), when plugged in - till 30 - 40% it's getting charged without any issues. Then it's charging & not charging intermittently. It's getting charged for 1 min then not getting charged for few seconds.  If i run the laptop without batterires, no issues. Laptop is running smoothly without any disconnection.  I tried with one of my friends charger and the same thing happens. So i guess the problem is not with the charger.  I've tried everything mentioned in this two threads. i recently had the problem of my laptop switching between mains and battery power.I took the laptop apart and re-soldered the joins on the dc-in module and re-soldered a new tip onto the power plug as the last one had melted!this seemed to fix the problem of annoying bleeps and power switching, until i realised that the power lead tip is still stupidly hot, i mean its too hot to touch. it only gets hot when plugged in to the laptop and not when its idle (obviously plugged in at the wall though).furthermore, the laptop still switches between power sources intermittently albeit rarely and only after the laptops been on for a while.Any ideas?

Answer:laptop DC plug too hot!!!

Heat usually means drawing alot of current. What is it like if you run on mains only with the battery removed from the laptop?

Am using Lumia 730 Dual Sim ... When i was on Windows 8.1 the slow charging issue wasn't there ... it starts when i upgrade the OS from 8.1 to 10 Official .. on Build .164 it shows the 'slow charging issue' and i thought of that it will be solve in upcoming build ... but what i expect to be done in next build it wasn't solved at all...now am on build .218 which is latest for Non-Insiders... from very beginning i use original chargers and earphones that came with lumia devices.... and that what am still using the original nokia charger ... every-time whenever i plug-in the wall charger to my lumia its prompts up saying "Device is charging slowly, to speed up charging, use the charger and cable that came with your device"... what the hell man... still now none of the lumia phone haven't come with data cables and separate wall charger except high end lumias...
another point of view is that when i connect the lumia with a nokia data cable ( this cable came up with nokia bluetooth charger for charging ) .... and then connect to laptop it never shows the irritating issue... !!
Now what should i do ??
Am from India... here the pins of the charger are Indian standard pin not the universal one.
I need help and a exact solution... cause i love my lumia and i don't want to lose it by any cost.

Answer:Why is it showing "Device Charging Slowly" after upgrading to Windows 10 Official Build ?

From my experience, a slow charge means your charge cable is of a cheaper variety. If you are using a charge cable from another phone it might not work as expected. If you are using the cable that came with your device and have the same problem, the cable itself might be failing.

windows update lost my laptop screen

Answer:have to plug laptop into another monitor

if the screen stopped working after the update, then answer this question first: did you notice any flickering or other screen problems before this happened? if so, then you just need to get the screen replaced. if not, the update may have accidentally shut down or deleted the display function for the default screen built into the laptop, which is usually most unlikely. if you answered no, try formatting your hard drive COMPLETELY (yes, even the running program!) then re-install the running program, and if the screen still doesn't work, then just replace the screen. if the screen STILL does not work, then sorry buddy, i can't help ya, unless you threw the windows update install disk at the screen.

I have been looking for answer to this problem and learned today, a lot of others are too. Just since my Win 10 upgrade, if I plug in the charger the screen goes black. Then I unplug, it comes back on! I have played with the power settings, not much to rave about there, except one thing I barely caught a glimpse of. In the Additional power settings, at the bottom is the brightness control. When I plug in the charger, the slider goes all the way to the right. Is that not backwards? Anyway, what will fix this so it can be posted somewhere (like here) so people like me can find it.

Answer:Why does my laptop go dark when I plug it up?

You are not alone with this but I can't see a solution. I would suggest you use the Windows Feedback tool to report this specifying the laptop model number. Others with HP laptops seem to be having it (K7W77UA).
Check your laptop manufacturer website to check no drivers exist specifically for that laptop for Windows 10 in terms of power management or display as they may include something specific for your model of laptop.

Question: laptop power plug

We have a Lenovo 3000 N200 laptop but unfortunately my youngest has managed to split the dc low voltage (20v 90w) power plug moulding and has exposed the wire inside. It's well taped at the moment but i would like to get it fixed. Does any one know of a supplier of plugs or repair services, I'd rather look at the fix option first rather than spend £40 odd pounds on a new ac adaptor, unless of course the fix cost is comparable.

You can probably fix it with Araldite.

We are getting ready to take a long trip in the car with our toddler (crazy, I know), and it would be great if we could have non-stop Elmo DVDs to keep her entertained. I really don't want to buy a portable DVD player since we already have a laptop that plays DVDs, but the problem is power--we're facing a 9-10 hour drive (OK, maybe "completely insane" is a better description of this trip).

I was browsing Best Buy and Sprawl-Mart and they had some adaptors that look like they plug into a car lighter, but the prices vary wildly. Here are my questions:

1. Must I buy the $100 adaptor that says "laptop and other media," or will the $20 "all purpose" at Sprawl-Mart work just as well?

2. What do the different numbers mean and what should I be looking for? (some had different voltage numbers like 4, 9 etc)?

3. If I use an adaptor, do I also need to lug along a surge protector for the car, or is it pretty steady and safe on its own?

Thanks for your help!

Jackie

Answer:adaptor to plug laptop into car?

It is doubtful that you would get the correct connector for your laptop by purchasing a Wally World on sale voltage converter. As another option that would help out. You can get a simple Inverter taht will plug into your cars cigar lighter or powerport and just plug your Laptops AC Battery charger into that. This is what I do and my daughter gets to watch Sponge Bob everywhere! These can be had as inexpensive as $30 if you shop right. All you really need is one that provides 220W AC power.

But about shutdown, all was working.. for now, only way to switch on is to put AC/ plug inside, and it starts directly… and switch off by removing it at the best moment possible when hearing the fans stopping… (before it starts again)this problem appeared without any reason (no installation, no special actions…)I formatted and reinstalled ALL, and is the same problem staying anyway LDo anyone think it can be from the harware itself ? If you have reinstalle dWindows and the same problem persits then that eliminates Windows. I would suggest getting your computer checked out by a qualified tech that can go thru the computer on the spot.

From first hand experience I would try on thing and this only applies to desktop type computers not to laptops.

Take the side off when there is no power turned on and make syre all of the connections are tight. Ohter than this take it in to the repair shop.

Have a good one.

My hp envy 15 laptop adaptor will not fit into my laptop anymore, seems to have a yellow piece of plastic firmly wedged into the plug end of the adapter that is impossible to get out and prevents the plug from fitting into the laptop. We had a bad electrical storm a few nights ago and I'm wondering if this is some kind of prevention mechanism that automatically activates if the adapter gets fried. Can't imagine a perfectly round piece of plastic randomly getting jammed in there.

Answer:Charger for hp envy 15 won't fit to plug into laptop

It is not a prevention mechanism it is physical damage of some sort. A picture would help a lot. Does the adapter tip look odd? How about the AC jack in the laptop.

My laptop was running low on power this evening and when I plugged my AC adaptor into the socket the laptop switched off. I am able to switch it on OK just running on battery but as soon as I plug in the AC adaptor, it switches off. If I try to turn it back on with the AC adaptor plugged in, the power lights flicker as if it's trying to make a connection but it won't turn on. As soon as I remove the AC adaptor I can switch it on again. Problem is of course that now the battery is completely drained so I can't access the laptop at all!!
The on off switch on the laptop definitely working long as AC adaptor isn't plugged in. It's as if the AC adaptor is switching the laptop off because as soon as I plug it in you can actually hear it clicking off. My laptop is an Evesham Explorer 2007 which I have for over a year now and have upgraded the RAM to 2GB some time ago.
It usually runs very well and first time I've had any problems, All my coursework is on the laptop and I need to access it within the next week. I managed to save the most vital files to the family PC before the laptop ran out of power completely. Do I need a new AC adaptor? Help!!

Hello,
maybe it is new PNP laptop ??

I am really upset ! I can't find any clue about my problem :
I cannot shutdown and power off my OMNIBOOK 6000 ! from soft Windows XP shutdown command or even hard switch action, the notabook stops quite correctly, and power off, and start again after 1 second or even less.... What is possible to do for this !!
Need to say also : I installed Windows XP, all was working very very fine ! Only problem was this sleeping mode that isn't coming back correctly about screen (staying black at wake up) . But about shutdown, all was working.. for now, only way to switch on is to put AC/ plug inside, and it starts directly… and switch off by removing it at the best moment possible when hearing the fans stopping… (before it starts again)
this problem appeared without any reason (no installation, no special actions…)
I formatted and reinstalled ALL, and is the same problem staying anyway L
Do anyone think it can be from the harware itself ? (power switch) ??

So many people seems to have. Did Hewlett Packard not do anything for this ?? I'll pay anyone having the answer for me !!!

my email : [email protected]

Motherboard or powersupply is bad. You need a repair shop.

Hi!

I have a laptop with a problem - it seems as if the plug at the back (where you plugin the electric cable) is faulty somehow, the computer pops in and out from charging the battery. Is there an easy way to fix this? Is the connection broken somehow?

Answer:Fixing the electric plug for a laptop

Someone would need to open up the laptop and examine the power jack and how it connects to the motherboard. Possible problems may be ...

1) A solder joint broke loose for one or more pins on the jack. This could easily be fixed by someone familiar with soldering on densely packed PC board that contains static sensitive parts.

2) The entire solder pad for one or more socket pins has lifted off the board. This might be repairable by someone familiar with repairing broken PC board traces.

3) The socket itself may be damaged. This could be replaced by someone familiar with replacing parts on PC board -and- you can get a matching replacement socket.

In any case, you may want to seek repairs right away. Any of the above problems could result in overheating of the connections to the socket to the point of causing burning of parts and the board.

Attempting to repair the problem someone not familiar with soldering to PC boards or using the wrong equipment could cause more harm than good.

Have you confirmed that the problem is in the jack and not in the cord from the power adapter? Sometimes a wire will break inside or near the plug from a lot of flexing.

Toshiba Satellite L300-148 hangs when AC power cable is plugged

Answer:when I plug AC power the laptop frezes

For how long?If forever then reboot and look at event logs maybe for clues. It is an odd issue. Maybe boot to bios and just see if that happens also in bios screen. You'd know if you can't tab between choices. Be sure not to save any changes in bios, we just want to observe behavior. 1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

Hi, I'm having a problem with my Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 2 11. When I plug in the laptop, the cursor goes crazy. If I don't touch anything, nothing happens. But if I touch the touchpad, instead of detecting one single touch, it detects two, and as a consequence the cursor starts doing crazy things. It "dances" all over the screen, jumpling from point to point. It maximizes, minimizes or closes windows. It selects text that I don't want to select. It "clics" on links and opens pages I don't wanna open. It zooms in, etc. If I unplug the laptop everything goes back to normal and I don't have that problem anymore. What's happening? and how do I solve this problem?? Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi
My dad got a hp window 10 laptop(2015) and some one broke a usb adptor in the usb port. Than my sister plug her iPhone charger in it and the laptop turn off.
Now it will not turn on ,the power charging light is on and when u press the power button, it will not turn on but as you release the power button the wifi light comes on for about 5 to 10 sec.. hope that good info for you. thanks

Answer:Hp Laptop dont turn on after usb plug in

sounds like the USB port is shorting out. It is possible to get them replaced but not and easy or cheap job to do.
make sure nothing is plugged into any ports and no disks in drives, remove the main battery (if possible) and power lead.
Press and hold the power butoon for 20 seconds.
refit power lead and retry to boot, if it boots then shut down refit battery and reboot again.
