Intel and Micron first to 25nm with new flash memory..

Question: Intel and Micron first to 25nm with new flash memory..

Quote:
Intel and Micron plan to unveil new 25-nanometer flash memory chips on Monday via their IM Flash Technologies joint venture, the first commercial chip products made using advanced 25nm manufacturing technology.

The new 64 gigabit (8 gigabyte) MLC (multi-level cell) NAND flash memory chip will give the companies a significant cost advantage over rivals, chip market researcher Objective Analysis said in a research note. The research note was inadvertently sent out ahead of an official announcement by Intel and Micron, which is slated for Monday.

An Intel representative confirmed the new chips and said they are aimed at smartphones, solid-state drives (SSDs), and portable media players such as iPods.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Intel and Micron first to 25nm with new flash memory..

That is unbelievable when you consider that nanometer measurement describes the microscopic size of transistors and other parts on a chip and that a nanometer is a billionth of a meter, about the size of a few atoms combined.

Intel Preps Screaming-Fast 25nm SSDs

Quote:
Intel once blazed a trail into the high-end SSD arena with its X25 series, and while the Santa Clara chip maker's X25-E is no slouch wtih read and write speeds of 250MB/s and 170MB/s, respectively, those are no longer best-in-class numbers.

Don't count Intel out, however. After completing the transition to 25nm NAND flash wafers in a joint effort with Micron, Intel is reportedly making new SSDs based on the die shrink. Codenamed Lyndonville, these upcoming SSDs are expected to run faster than anything currently in Intel's stable.

Hi, Can anyone tell me if its possible to add intel flash memeory to my y430? I believe I have a PCIe slot open and intel flash memmory goes in the PCIe slot, but I haven't been able to find any good documentation on this.  For 50 bucks I feel liket it could be a good upgrade. Also has anyone tried to add a graphics card? Thanks,

Answer:y430 - Adding Intel Flash Memory

It is not possible to add Videocard to Y430. It's possible in theory to change discrete videocard in it but on practice you'll not be able to find one surely compatible.

Did you configure the Intel Turbo Memory Console correctly? Do these steps to verifty: Click Start->All Programs->Intel Turbo Memory->Intel Turbo Memory Console Click "Continue" to grant permission The value for ReadyDrive and ReadyBoost need to be "Enabled" - Look under the "Select the cache policy you want to enable" and make sure both are checked.  Also in the BIOS, make sure the SATA Operation option is set to "AHCI" and NOT "Compatibility" I'm assuming everything else is done correctly? Let me know if this helps any. Mark

I have recently purchased the 1GB Intel Flash Cache Memory card for my DELL Studio 1535.
I have been searching for hours and I am unable to locate the correct driver for the Studio 1535.  The only driver I have been able to locate is 'R154164.exe' which I attempted to use, but after installing this driver, it prevents my laptop from booting into Windows, and I have to use the last Restore Point to get back into Windows.  Reading post 'en.community.dell.com/.../20446462 this card should work with my laptop.
After closer examination of the R154164.exe driver (www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails), it does NOT support the Studio series of laptops.  (probably the reason why Windows will not boot after install).
** My system is a DELL Studio 1535, running Widows Vista 32-bit with 4 GB of RAM (upgraded years ago from the original 2 GB without issue).
From everything I have read, this 1GB Intel Flash Cache Memory should work with my Studio 1535, but I would need the appropriate drivers.  Any assistance in locating the appropriate drivers would be greatly appreciated!  I very eagerly look forward to your response.
Thank you for you time and assistance in this matter!

Hi!

I'm sorry for posting such a horrible mistake. I'll just break it down really easely and hope for someone to be kind enough to resque my stupid ***.

I just upgraded my OS from W7 to W10 doing a clean install and figured out I had to install a bunch of essential drivers all over again, so I though it would be a good idea to start out with my motherboard. My motherboard is a "P45 NEO-F", so I went over to it's support page (link) to download all of the latest drivers and utilities for that model. Then I saw the "BIOS" section, and thougt I should flash the BIOS first of all, for no reason. So I downloaded the "AMI BIOS 4.4", which was the latest one, extracted the files on to a USB-stick, booted the whole thing up, went to M-FLASH in BIOS, chose the "A7519IMS.440"-file on the stick, flashed the BIOS, rebooted and now I get a "bad checksum".

I didn't even take a backup of the old file from BIOS, because I couldn't even think of this not working. Bonus points for that!

So what do I do now, being the sorry sod that I am?

Hello, I'm running a 64 bit Windows 10 laptop. On idle, the System process is showing a high memory usage of more than 150 MB, usually more than 200 MB. Using poolmon the pooltag SpDN showed up with a memory leak. It leads to the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver, iaStorV.sys. How should I go about fixing the problem?

Answer:High memory usage / Memory leak caused by Intel driver

Hi,

Since this is a Intel driver I doubt the WDK can fix it.
You may try to see if there's a more current version of Intel's RST available for download and see if that fixes the leakage issue.

I know the question is awkward. So hopefully, I can explain it.

Say that I have a 500 GB external hard drive. But as it turns out, there's only 465 GB according to it and my computer. Why isn't there 500 Gb, but rather only 465? This also applies to mp3 players like iPods.

Why is this?

Can I do something to get back the "hidden" memory?

I have had my laptop since March and have been using a compact flash 128 or 256 Mb via adaptor with no problems.
However, I have now purchased a 1Gb (for my Eos 300D) but my laptop says cannot find software???

I then purchased a memory stick USB 2.0 1Gb, but my laptop wont accept that either??? In both cases it searches windows for solution, then asks for the disc to accompany the hardware. My husband (good PC knowlege) is at a lost as am I.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I've been looking at the Surface Pro and other tablet/laptop convertible machines fitted with Win 8. The top-end models usually offer only flash memory in stead of a hard drive. The standard 128 GB flash memory available seems hopelessly inadequate for storing Win 8, a full range of programs and a decent amount of data. Most of these thin, expensive models have only one or two USB ports available. Where must the necessary memory come from? Must an external hard drive be carried along? Nothing wears a USB port out more quickly than a fairly heavy external device such as a hard drive dangling from it in mobile situations.

Answer:Lack of needed memory on flash memory Win 8 machines

You can add extra storage with SD cards on some of them. It's not ideal but better than nothing I guess.

Question: Micron PC ?

I got a used PC and just learned it is from a company called Micron. I checked their website but they don't manufacture PCs only parts. How can this be? If possible, I'd like to download an instruction manual. The model is D8456RG-001. I think it's from 2002 as that's when Windows XP was loaded.

Micron stopped making pc's years ago. I used to use their systems and they were pretty good. It's probably the same company you found on the web - contact them and see if they can help.

Question: Micron PC's

Just looking for opinions/first hand knowledge, I guess. Ready to buy a new comp and want to get away from the proprietary Dell with it's inherent incapability of being upgraded. A year or more ago a lot of people were talking up Micron, but I know they've gone through bankruptcy since then. Just wondering if their product has been adversely affected. Still see some good sounding computers on their site. Altenatively- If anyone recommends a good non-proprietary computer. Thanks.

Answer:Micron PC's

Why not build your own? It's easier & cheaper than most folks realize. You'll end up with exactly what you want & have the satisfaction of doing it yourself. No one can sell a reasonably priced PC, say $1000-$2000, for what you can build it for. They always end up scimping somewhere.
With sites like this even tech support can be handled. As long as you buy retail warrenties for componets can be as long as any PC vendor.
I'm not real familiar with Micron other than they've been around awhile & they're fairly large. What makes you think they won't put proprietary componets in it?

I have just bought a Dell micron 3050 desk top. My problem is that it comes with a 32gb ssd drive so I am trying to clone windows 10 and move it onto a 128gb ssd drive. Right now my C drive has 8.94gb free of 28.7gb so I have 19.76gb of used space. I have an external hard drive ( which holds 1 terabyte) plus usb drive ( which hold 32gb ) and a dvd optical drive ( which only holds 4.7GB), all hooked up to the new pc. I have Macrium Reflect on my external drive. I partitioned off a section of my external drive and cloned C to it. Although all I see showing is a System Volume Information file (58kb).

I know you hit F2 and take the pc out of Secure mode and go into Legacy mode hit F10 to exit and save. next hit F12. Then you can see the Legacy Boot and the UEFI Boot choices. I went to usb boot and hit the button and this message came up "Selected boot device failed. Press any key to reboot the system."
I can't clone it to a disk because they only hold 4.7gb. I am stuck !! Any ideas?

Hello,
first all, my native language is Dutch, so sorry for any strange sentences.

I have problems with my computer. Every hour (roughly) my computer freezes or restarts. Every now and then I get a blue screen (0*00000F4). When I get a blue screen my SSD is gone from the bios. I get an error when starting up. So I have to reset my bios to default standards, where my SSD turns up again.

I read through the internet and saw that micron SSD's have problems which looks like mine. I have a C400-MTFDDAK064MAM_____00002_____

There is an update for the firmware but im unsure which one to install.
I tried 1.0.0.85_Micron_070H.07.00_SSDFirmwareUpdate_Signed.exe but that is a wrong one apparently cause I get an error when trying to update. When starting up it says that \GRLDR.MBR cannot be found. Luckily my pc still starts up but no update is done.

Im afraid to just try any other one.

I also read something about disabling Marvel, raid and unplugging the other harddrive but my technical expertise is not that high.
I dont have raid.

Can someone help me please?

Thanks in advance...

Martin

I bought a Dell Latitude C400 last year for $150 for the purpose of it being a netbook for my college classes. Other than the battery life being pretty short, it has worked out great.

The only thing that I complain about is the resolution (max is 1024x768) and using flash on the Internet. Youtube videos work fine with no lag, but if I try to play any flash type games like for instance anything on addictinggames.com, most of the games run about half speed (or less).

The Intel 82830m integrated graphics drive is up to date, but I know its "oldness" is holding the flash games back. Am I screwed?

I am using a MICRON Electronics, TransPort NX laptop. (Its all the IT department will provide). The OS is Win2K. Its running service pack 4. The serial port on the laptop does not function. I have tested communications using HyperTerminal, and all tests failed. I don't believe that this is a Hardware problem, since the issue is with EVERY MICRON. I believe it might be a conflict with drivers?

The MICRONs are using a PCMCIA 3COM Net adapter card to connect to a LAN. This card is functioning fine, but I believe it might be interfering with the serial port. I checked the BIOS, and everything is correctly enables, and there are no Infrared Ports activated. The interrupts are also correct (3F8/I4) The issue is with COMM1.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hey,
Earlier today I bought a Micron TransPort GX+ with a P3 800 mhz processor, 320 mb ram, 20 gb hdd at a yard sale for $5. I got it home, and set it up. Win Xp loaded sucessfully. I opened MS Word and started to type a sentance, but the keys were all messed up. For example, when I press "T" it displays "T6Y" on the screen. It does similar things with other random keys. This is not only in MS Word, but all other programs that you type in. I think that reinstalling XP may solve the problem, but first, does anybody have any suggestions?

Answer:Micron laptop keyboard problem

Does not sound like a software problem, Try holding it upside down and brush between the keys with a small paint brush and then use a can of air to blow it out. Reinstalling the OS is free, so probably the next thing to try. A new keyboard is not likely to be available, but you could try the Micron website.

I have a 3-4 year old Micron T1000 with a P4 M 1.7 GHz CPU that died recently. The problems have just been building over the last year. Six to 8 months ago the power port started melting my AC adapter plugs, and overheating the adapter. Then recently, it began re-starting on its own about once a day. Finally, only the fan and CD would spin when it was turned on. After I ruled out the CPU and HD, I suspected a mobo failure, so I replaced it. But it still won't boot. The lights come on very briefly and their is a flicker on the screen when I hit the power button, but nothing happens. Could it be something else, or am did I replace it with bad mobo?

Solution for dead Micron Transport T1000

Just wanted to post a solution to my own problem for all those out there who had viewed the page with similar problems. After testing the CPU I discovered that this Micron has an internal DC converter that was mistaken for a sound card. When replaced, the laptop booted up no problem. So essentially, it was a power supply issue.

I am trying to reload a Micron Client-Pro but when I try to put anything into the CD-ROM it does not read it. It never changes from telling me to "Please incert disk into drive E:" I have cleaned the lens, changed out the disks. I even swapped the CD-ROM's with another 480X Max CD-ROM. Both work in the other Micron Client-Pro but fail to read in this machine. I am currently doing a "scandisk" to see if it finds and fixes anything wrong with the machine. If this doesn't work I am at a loss.

Just for your info the hard drive now has been wiped of an operating system (via a Win. 98 boot disk, and an AEF disk) and reformatted. All I need is for the machine to read the Windows 2000 disk to reload but now that there is no operating system I keep getting errors. For example it will tell me when the Windows 2000 disk is in that it can not find the "End User License Agreement."

The weird thing is that the user told me they hadn't been having problems with the CD-ROM. We were only reloading the system because they didn't have enough space left on it to boot up properly.

I'm trying to figure out how to lift out the keyboard to change the memory, and the manual instructions are of little help.  I can't ascertain how the latching mechanism works, and I don't want to damage my computer trying.  Could someone give me a better description than the manual?  This is a Trek 2 AGP.

I have an older Micron computer that I would like to upgrade.
Over the last year I've had to replace the H.D., the video card, CD burner, and 1 of the ram sticks. I would like to upgrade the rest of the out dated stuff. The CPU is the main thing I want to bring up to date and in doing so I would need to change the M.B. It currently is a 1Gig AMD Athlon. My question is: How much of the components that I currently have are reusable - can I just get a M.B. and put it in the original case and get a new CPU and Ram and reuse the H.D., Video Card ect.? What all is entailed in making this upgrade or am I better off starting with a new case and all? I just want to speed up desktop applications (photo apps)...very little serious gaming. I have a GForce4 MX 440 64 MB
video card, 60 gig H.D. and DVD and CD burner.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi I ordered my computer with a single 16 GB ram-stick, and looking for options to upgrade to 32 or 64 GB. The installed ram-stick is a Micron MTA16ATF2G64HZ-2G1 (manufacturer label on the other side, just Lenovo p/n on this side). I took a picture of it. ? The second picture is a Crucial CT16G4SFD8213 with identical specifications. ? I have read that Micron's consumer products are marketed under the brand Crucial. Is it possible that those two ram-sticks in the pictures are identical? Some comments in this forum about ram-upgrades, talks about the "dual-channel" wich requires "two identical" ram-sticks installed in a certain slot etc. If the Micron- and Crucial-branded ram-sticks are the same, is it possible to achieve "dual-channel"-performance with 1x Micron and 3x Crucial? The price difference is 239 ? when buying a Micron-stick from lenovo.com with a 2 weeks delivery time, and 68 ? incl 25% VAT for the Crucial at the local store where I live. Is it too good to be true?

I had nvidia miron display driver which was saved on my computer c: drive and as my OS could not start due to a windows protection error, i reinstall windows 98 and then found that video driver missing( due to My Os being reinstalled). There are lots of display  driver downnload sites for nvidia but how to know which driver my display card use?Can it be seen from device manager?

Answer:nividea micron video driver

Unless the videocard is detected and installed by Windows, it can not be seen from the device manager as it would be listed as an unknown device. You may wish to try the following:1. Start2. Run3. Type DXDIAG4. Monitor tab What does it say?Do you still have the documentation and/or box that came with the videocard? Are you certain this is a videocard and not a chipset?

Anyone know if they are working on optimizing the drivers for the Z2760 for Flash?
It is odd to me that this chipset can do Pinball FX2 and Riptide GP no problem, but if you load up SPEEDTEST.NET or even a YouTube video with a simple text flash overlay, you get extremely bogged down.
Anyone know if they can improve this performance with drivers or firmware?

I bought this Micron off ebay for college as it was a decent computer and very affordable. My ONLY problem with it is I have had some issues trying to get wireless internet going on it. I cannot find a site anywhere listing what internet cards are applicable with this computer. I bought a Flarion ct-1000 Nextel Wireless Network Card to try in it, and it was absolutely useless. The first time I successfully installed it, it would search forever and find no connection, not even in Starbucks. I uninstalled it and tried to reinstall it, and the Mobility Manager is stuck in Disabled mode, with all attempts at enabling it failing. Now I'm hunting a new card that will allow me to connect to wireless internet at my college. Any suggestions? Sorry if my given information is lacking.

Folks,

I've got an Abit IP35 Pro mobo. It has an intel IHC9R controller for 6 internal SATA ports. It uses a JMicron JMB 363 controller for 2 eSATA ports. That's the problem.

Currently, the JMB363 is using R1.17.53 drivers. However, they only allow the eSATA ports to work in IDE mode. BIOS allows 3 choices: IDE, RAID, AHCI.

(Regardless of BIOS choice, in Device Manager they show as IDE with yellow warning symbols and, additionally, they seem to work as IDE ports rather than eSATA/AHCI. I need to be very careful with the order in which I plug in my external hard-drive, power it on, and reboot my machine so it will recognize the external hard-drive during POST. That's not the way it should work.)

I want the eSATA ports to work in AHCI mode and be hot-pluggable.

I found new drivers on the JMicron site, R1.17.63.01_eSATA, dated June 15th, 2011.

These would SEEM to be what I want. (My OS is Vista Ultimate 64.)

Unfortunately, I cannot get the install to work!! I end up with an error stating INF not found.

What do I do next? I am hoping that this driver will FINALLY enable me to hot-swap my external hard-drive for backups.

Thanks,
Ken

Answer:J Micron JMB 363 eSATA driver install problem

Hello, I have a HP Omen 17-w101nf notebook with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 GDDR5 (Micron) GPU 8GB. I've heard on the internet there were troubles with this card regarding its memory. I did the last BIOS and Video driver updates from HP's website. I'm coming to you because I've recently heard about bitcoin mining and wanted to try it out. What happens is that when launching calculation, there's a sudden use of the GPU which lasts for about 20s before stopping completely and not being able to be launched again, unless restarting the program. I've seen error messages such as "not enough memory" as well. It doesn't matter whether I'm using only 25% or the 100% of the GPU (available are 25, 50, 75, 100). Therefore I was wondering if it was linked to this GTX 1070 Micron issue I've heard about (which I do not fully understand since I'm not really good in hardware) and if there was anything to do about it ? I've heard Asus and MSI fixed it with a BIOS update for instance. Please also tell me if HP isn't concerned. Thank you very much for your answers in advance,Regards

Greetings

I own a Toshiba Satellite C850 Laptop. I bought it on amazon UK and it came with 2GB of RAM.

I'm really happy with it but 2GB of ram isn't enough anymore.

Last week, i bought 2 more gigs of RAM.
The package says KomputerBay but the manufacturer is actually "Micron". So, i installed it and turned on my laptop but my laptop did not recognize the Micron memory.

The bios says that i have "2048MB" of ram installed, instead of 4096MB. Therefore, both Windows and Linux can only recognize 2GB of ram.

I then removed the original samsung ram and pressed the power button with only the Micron ram installed. Unfortunatelly, the computer didn't even show any image on the screen.

I already tested the Micron module on an old Toshiba Satellite L650 laptop and it works like a charm. So, the ram is not defective. Also, the ram is seated properly because CPU-Z detects it correctly:

http://i.imgur.com/DMROayG.png

Also, i updated the BIOS and i am using the latest drives from toshiba website. Is there anything i can try to make this ram work on my laptop?

Answer:Satellite Pro C850-1HE does not receognize new Micron RAM modules

I dont think so. For me it is compatibility problem. Send it back and buy 100% compatible module for your notebook model.
Your notebook model can be upgraded up to 16GB and compatible RAM modules have follow part numbers:
2GB DDR3-1600 - PA5037U-1M2G
4GB DDR3-1600 - PA5037U-1M4G
8GB DDR3-1600 - PA5037U-1M8G

We have issue with SSD on T430s frequently since we use that model. We are using Windows 7 from recovery system of T430s, then we installed McAfee Endpoint Encryption for PC on that machine. The SSD Lenovo use in T430s are Micron C400-MTFDDAK256MAM On the 1st T430s laptop - The first time issue with laptop after 1 month used, laptop cannot boot into Windows 7, Windows system files corrupted. Run diagnostic of T430s "Stop smart short selftest FAILED 10s". The SSD had returned to Lenovo service center (IBM Service center in Vietnam) and received the replaced one after 3 days. - Next one month after, the second time laptop cannot boot into Windows 7 and Windows system files corrupted again, we ran Chkdsk to fixed the corrupted files and the laptop working again however when we ran diagnostic of T430s have the same issue as the 1st time. SSD returned to service center again and wait for 3 days to receive the new one.On the 2nd T430s laptop still use the same SSD brand and model as 1st T430s laptop- The laptop working well after 3 months, on last Wed 10 Apr 2013. The SSD suddenly cannot detected by laptop, take out the SSD to plugin to another laptop still not work. The SSD have to return to service center again and waiting for 3 days for shipping due the service center claimed that SSD cannot fail easily and they don't have the spare one to replace.Have anyone have issue with SSD, Micron SSC C400 like us? Greetings,So I have bought a new rig yesterday and was very excited to get the monster GTX 1070 and I have few questions about it.This is the first time I am attempting overclocking so I am no expert in it and I have been reading around that the Micron memory of the GTX 1070 is not good for overclocking and there is a need to update the BIOS to fix that. As it stands in GPU Z my BIOS version is 86.04.26.00.62 and based on Asus website there is a newer BIOS version for my card to install. Now my questions are:- Is it safe to apply the BIOS to the card?- If I plan to overclock it, would I need a better PSU for power? (a 600 W PSU is installed currently).- Will I be able to safely use the card for mining or constant gaming ?- Which program is best for overclocking?Specs:Asus Sabertooth 990fx r2Amd FX-8350 black edCorsair H55 v2 quiet CPU coolerAsus Geforce GTX 1070 Strix OC 8GBKingston hyper fury 16G 1866HzCorsair CX600MSamsung 840 EVO 120 GB SSDRegards

I am a beginner of hardware. I find two series of SSD to compare, 840 EVO and M500, because the specifications and the prices of them are approximate.

Both of them use SATA 3, so you need to compare with the read speed and the write speed, if you prefer faster one. The sequential read speed of 840 is 540MB/s, and the sequential write speed is 410MB/s. M500 is slower, but the performance of M500 is great as well, its Shock-resistant design makes it more durable than 840. The most important thing of SSD is the controller, 840 uses 3-core Samsung MDX controller, M500 uses Marvell?s latest controller, maybe the second one is better.

This is my poor review, how to compare them with more details, give me your advice.

Im deciding whether to upgrade from 2x512 Generic Samsung RAM to 2x512 OC'ing Crucial Ballistix or 2x1GB Generic Samsung (or Micron or Infineon, whichever is best)

I tend to play the new games that eat up ram and sell them afterwards but the only game i really constantly play is CS:Source, which we all kno needs no more than 1GB of ram..

I have my CPU OC'ed to 2.2ghz and my current ram is on running on a divider. i read on on AT.com that the cost to get quality OC'ing ram is not worth the 5-10% overall performance increase over non OCing ram (of the same size)

my question is, should i go ahead n spend $190 on 2GB of ram or $150 on 1GB of OC'ing ram.. ?

Answer:2x512 OC'ing Ballistix or 2x1GB generic samsung/micron/infineon?

Is this for an Intel CPU or AMD?

2GB of value ram would probably make more sense than 1GB of high performance ram with an AMD CPU. Intel CPUs will benefit more from additional memory bandwidth.

Question: Intel Turbo Memory

I have a X200 Tablet, 7450 ERG. I am about to upgrade the SSD from the standard 64GB Samsung MLC disk, to an Intel X-25 G2 160GB disk. I have also installed 4GB of RAM inside the computer purchased from Lenovo, but I am looking for a way to improve speed further. The graphical card would have been a pleasure to change, sacrifice some battery time, but I understand this is not possible unfortunatly. However, to increase the speed, I have seen that Intel advertises for their Intel Turbo Memory. Will I be able to benefit from such an upgrade taken the SSD driver and 4GB og RAM of memory installed already, or is Intel Turbo Memory typically made for slower HDD drives? What Intel Turbo Memory to get (preferably as large in GB and speed as possible), and what is the FRU / CRU number so I can find it on IBM / Lenovo's homepage for purchase? Thank you in advance for comments and advices! Kind regards.

Answer:Intel Turbo Memory

Hi oab! I don't know about the turbo memory. But what improved my tablet was to change to the X-25 G2 SSD, and it will be even quicker when they get the fix on the new ssd firmware.I bought the tablet with Vista, and have just upgraded to Windows 7. It became a new machine. It is quicker, have better text recognition (even in Norwegian), and much more stabile. If you bought the machine after June 26, 2009, you can order the Enhanced Experience Win 7 from Lenovo for free. They claimed that the boot time can improve up to 57%. If you need more than that, I think you bought the wrong machine. Good luck! Axel

Intel Turbo Memory is highly not recommended, since it provides unnoticeable improvement in speed if you got lot of ram, in addition it can cause driver conflict under Vista.  You can install it in one of the occupied mini PCI-e slot, but remember you have to get the Lenovo version, other versions may cause errors.

doesn't the intel turbo memory ... plug into a spare PCIe port of your thinkpads and connected to the system board using a special connector cable.... or alternatively use a high speed USB drive in your usb port or a high speed SD card in the inbuilt card reader, to access the vista's ready boost technology... though little slower than the intel's turbo memory, it is however far cheaper .... so its really your choice.....

Maximum graphicsmemory is 128 mb but the driver only gives the graphicscard 36 mb when i play wow.

The graphicsmemory is shared with the main memory.

Answer:More memory to intel graphicscard ?

There should be a setting in the bios to up the video (shared) memory, But it will take that ram directly from the available system memory and If you only have 256 or even 512 it might not be a good Idea. The board should take what it thinks is best so you might have to add more ram.

Answer:R61 - Intel Turbo Memory

If your machine is preloaded with Vista, the Intel Turbo memory card should be installed already on your unit (There is a dedicated Turbo Memory slot usually located under the keyboard). You can also use the WWAN Mini-Card slot to install it. However, please DO NOT install Intel Turbo Memory in the WLAN Mini-Card slot.  Cheers,Mark

Question: Flash Memory USB

Some time ago I posted several notes relating to problems I was experiencing with a Flash Memory (BELKIN) device. Thanks again to anyone who replied and offered help with this. Sadly, it came down to what seems to be a USB power issue on my MESH PC.The Flash Memory device was bought from eXpansys and I just want to say how impressed I have been with their help along the way and subsequent refund even though there was nothing wrong with the device. It's just good to know that some companies out there do have customers' interests at heart. If anyone has any USB power stories to tell, I'd be interested.Graham

Answer:Flash Memory USB

Are you still there?I would be interested in knowing your PSU rating as mine is only 250 and I am fearful of adding any more hardware to it.

Question: Flash memory

Don't know if this is the right forum, but I just purchased the Rio One MP3 player and am happy with it except for the lack of memory. I don't know anything about flash memory. Do I just look for any flash memory card and expect it to work, or do I need one specific to my player?

Thanks!

Answer:Flash memory

I found this at Rio's site. It is talking about the Flash memory in the rave: mp 2200, but it explains about where you can find the flash memory.

W2K prof SP4, AMD 1.4 G 512 MB
Happily running a Fuji camera and a SAN disk card reader when at the next boot up....
The flash memory cannot be read. The camera is seen, the card reader is seen but the card reader keeps on asking for a card to be inserted and the camera does not generate a drive letter for data to be down loaded.

Done the usual things

any guesses folks

Question: USB Flash memory

I have windows Vista Home prem computer and I insert my flash memery in a USB port but nothing has appeard in my computer. However, there is the usual icon in the taskbar saying that I can remove the flash memory safely.

Answer:USB Flash memory

I gladly ridded myself of Vista on all five of my systems and went back to the freedom and ease of use of XP Pro so I cannot tell you the steps in Vista; but, in XP, I would go to Start> Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Computer Management> Disk Management and see if the drive shows up there.

Let us know your result.

You mean there is a yellow exclamation mark next to this device?

Does the machine have a memory card reader that is not working?

If the answer to both questions is 'yes', then I suspect you haven't installed drivers for the card reader.

You can download the drivers you need from this link.

Recently got a 128MB flash memory drive to transport files around. Realized today that the office computer still has WINDOWS 95....

the drivers that came with it start at Win98 and I couldn't find anything on Driver.com or PCdrivers.com.

The flash memory is generic, says speed drive on the outside (got it on ebay for a steal).

Is there any way I can force my Win95 PC to recognize the drive?

THanks in advance

Question: Usb Flash Memory

Hi folks,

I've been looking for a USB Flash Memory maker but I don't manage to find a single address. I found hundreds USB key makers I'm not interested in. I just want the electronic system you put inside the USB key to make my own one. Could you help me to find a site? Thank you in advance.

Answer:Usb Flash Memory

You need a controller chip (search for usb flash controller) and a flash chip.

And some mad soldering skills because AFAIK all these chips come in surface-mount packages which are a PITA to handle manually.

I suggest you find either an electronics dealer and play with what they have to offer. Pick a controller chip, read the spec sheet and application notes and then pick the rest of the components according to that.
